SNS College Of Technology Starts Industry Institute Partnership Cell To Increase The Quality Of Engineers And Cover The Gap Between The Institutions And Industries

In the year 2002, the students who dreamt of becoming engineers could do so with the establishment of SNS College of Technology in that year. The institution is one among 7 autonomous institutions in Coimbatore and has been accredited with 'A' Grade by NAAC. The SNS College of Technology and the SNS College of Engineering share a twin campus which is built on 23 acres of land. Dr. S N Subbramanian MTech., Ph.D., MBA., M.Phil., Ph.D., is the honorary Chairman of SNS Group of Institutions. Dr. S Rajalakshmi, B.Sc., M.B.B.S., D.G.O. is the Managing trustee and correspondent of the colleges and SNS College MD  Dr. S Nalin Vimal Kumar, B.E, M.S, Ph.D., and their other institutions.

As SNS College of Technology has gained Autonomy, the management has ensured that each department is attached to one or more industries. Experts from these industries are asked to glance through the syllabi and make any changes necessary. The reason to do so is to reduce the gap between what is taught in class and what goes on in the industries. The experts also train the faculty members in any specialized change of topics. The institute works on a trained trainer model with the industry experts and therefore the faculty members gain the required knowledge and skills to teach the students from the expertise. The management has ensured that for both the campuses at least one or two guest lecturers per subject are conducted in a semester.

The student activity center at SNS College of Technology provides a range of facilities such as a swimming pool, music theatre and separate well equipped gyms for boys and girls. An entertainment complex has been setup where students can play bowling and billiards. SNS College of Technology and SNS College of Engineering also share a playground where students can play a variety of games. The college also has research labs which helps the faculty members and students advance their interests in the field which includes the cloud lab, mobile apps lab, power systems labs etc. In the library for students, SNS College of Technology has acquired about 40,000 volumes of books as they keep updating their curriculum.

An Industry Institute Partnership Cell has been started by the institute in order to increase the quality of engineers graduating from the institute and cover the gap between the institutions and industries. With more than 85 MoUs signed with these industry experts and their companies, the institute utilizes the opportunities to take the students on industry visits. The industry experts also guide the students through the implant training and guide them with their projects. Many students who do their projects with the companies get converted into employees.

most embarrassing moment this week is me thinking that someone was waving at me while i was in the pool, losing my backstroke, and choking on water as i scrambled back to the ledge

#the setup is as goes: the college has a gym complex and the pool is on the lower level #there’s windows to the 2nd floor which is the main gym area #i was doing a lap in backstroke and i saw someone in the window waving both their hands up and down #i tried waving back and obviously sank #once i am at the ledge i squint and realize they were literally doing reps on a machine #and that the machine was facing the window so it only looked like they were waving
