Went for a walk but instead of touching grass I started thinking of phones and man I'm so fucking Curious and Hyped to see the Roger route especially to see how different he is from his counterpart in DSaF.
After all, in that universe it really seems that the only thing that made Roger get his shit together after his wife left him and he dropped off med school and shit was fucking Dying and getting to now be Someone Else (see: Scott) but now everyone is already a phone so that possibility is off the table which makes me wonder, is this Roger just not miserable or is there a brand new thing that he found to get his life relatively together?
What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall of the next drivers' meeting...that 5 hour long fernando alonso rant/masterclass accompanied by a powerpoint presentation with empiric evidence dating back to the invention of the wheel to support his case is going to hit like a freight train
Might be a hot take but a major character’s death is really only as good as the weight and the treatment that the narrative gives it. Sure, any author has the ability to write death as they see fit. But whether the consumer (of any given form of media) is actually able to emotionally connect and resonate with the departure of someone who has occupied a good chunk of narrative space very heavily depends on how it’s treated within the story. If it’s a major character, the narrative needs enough built-in breathing space. As in, the consumer doesn’t have to fill in the blanks as to how the death impacted the plot or the remaining characters. Let the narrative do that for them, and that would actually allow the consumer to better react and relate to that major death (sadness, anger, joy, etc). Allow the rest of the characters (who were impacted by the deceased) to react to their parting. Let them engage with the death in a manner that helps justify the character’s inclusion in the narrative to begin with. Make it clear how the character’s life and (especially) their death relate to the larger themes of the story. Because most consumers aren’t stupid. We don’t want our hands held at every waking moment, but we also don’t want our investment in a story to be insulted just for the sake of a cheap shock. Give us time to breathe and grieve. And respect that we have put in a lot of emotional investment in a story and its characters, and we deserve to have that acknowledged.
Something that Valentino used to be able to handle better in their past together was the light that Vox's head put off. When they met and started their partnership, Vox's light was much dimmer and much easier to actually see.
Becoming partners with a man whose face was a light, however, was what started him wearing his sunglasses everywhere all the time. It helped him to see better than he had in eight years in Hell, though his vision still wasn't the best, any improvement was better than nothing.
As Vox improved and upgraded his head, his face grew ever brighter and even harder for Valentino to see. Once upon a time, Valentino could have fallen victim, somewhat, to Vox's hypnotism, but once his face began to brighten and it was harder and harder to see, he wasn't able to maintain that.
Now, the blue light given off by Vox's teeth is blinding for Valentino, who cannot see those winning smiles very well even with his glasses on. He struggles not to get Moon Eyes over Vox's face when he gets in close, though he doesn't often fight it.
Despite this, Vox's smile is still one of Valentino's favorite things to try to see. He loves it whenever Vox smiles at him, especially those rarer, genuine ones. He will happily deal with being blind just to know Vox is pleased with something he's done.
Sketches of @delightfuldevin‘s Mario S/I I drew a few days ago and I guess forgot to post?? Anyway he’s cool as hell and I hope he doesn’t think my S/I’s too big of a nerd to hang out with
Listen I know it’s probably unlikely that Starfleet officers hold on to their old uniforms... It’s probably like, mandatory that they return them when they receive new updated ones and everything. But HUMOR ME... what if either Kathryn or Gretchen held onto it shortly after Voyager’s return to Earth... Inevitably it’d end up in Gretchen’s care because Kathryn dies and YES I’VE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS likely all of her possessions where dealt with accordingly.
I’d think in Kathryn’s return to Earth during the events of Protectors, accompanied by Pip who’d have stowed herself away aboard the Galen, the two would rediscover a lot of Kathryn’s old belongings including her uniform she’d worn while captaining Voyager. :)
It’s been a hot minute but @probably-some-goat and I finally got to sit down and play more Danganronpa over Memorial Day Weekend, and I’m very happy to finally get to draw some of the highlights
