Internship update!
As of today, I am finished with my summer internship. I turned in the final paperwork and had my final meetings yesterday and earlier this morning. It's so satisfying that something I've worked on for the past three months is finally completed. I'm packing a bag, and tomorrow I'm going to visit my family for about 3.5 weeks before I come back for the school semester. It will be nice to see them for a bit, have a bit of a break from work, and work on my literature capstone and finish my research. I also hope to work on some more content for my YouTube and TikTok. I hope to make a video telling about what I've been up to this summer. Here's to a great rest of my summer!

Do any of you have Opheliamachine by Magda Romanska in English, in digital form?
Would like to use it for one of my papers at the end of this semester and maybe even for my thesis but I can't find it anywhere. I only found a copy of it that's getting released in February, 2024.... 🥲

Morgan LeFay {Backstory Part 1} {1988}
It was 1988, and the only dreams I had in my little head were the silver screen.
I was twenty-two years of age in rooms dominated by men trying to be the next Spielberg. My college years were being spent anywhere and everywhere across a campus that offered only enough to get me on solid footing.
If I wanted to be behind the camera. I felt I needed to put myself on all sides of the coin. I was pursuing everything, writing classes even though I'd probably never write my own script. Acting classes, even if I'd never be on film. I worked with a drama club that performed each week and helped with set-ups and costumes.
With enough determination, I just wanted to make it known that I'd get somewhere in the world of movies.
"Honestly! With enough determination, you can go anywhere...but you can also fall flat on your face and go nowhere!"
Morgan had been sitting in on a workshop when the professor leading the course brought in a guest speaker. She hadn't really explained how the man came to be there that day. While the man didn't have a straight story on why he was even there.
"Good afternoon, and forgive my late arrival. The rehearsal ran a bit longer than expected. Our lead got his head stuck in a mop bucket; it was the best acting he's had since we started production."
Oliver Putnam was an odd sort of fellow; he acted as if he didn't know up from down and made it all up as he went along. It was a different kind of insight into the entertainment business.
While others were tuning out of the rambling nature, Lefay was trying to understand why someone would go into something like the theater rather than film.
"It seems tedious, and in all honesty. Unlike film, it's, well...unless it gets picked up again. Your production is dying before it sees the light of day."
"Dying? We're not cancer patients; Film isn't better because it might last decades. Theater is personal, and it's so close you can feel it! It's magical You, my dear, can't see the magic when behind a wall of lenses!"
For someone who dressed as if color was going out of style, he was challenging. Morgan had to admit that was not something she expected from this strange man.
After the shop was over, she hadn't changed her sights. She lasted a year before finding herself working backstage for an off-broadway show. Putnam was wrong about a lot of things he tried to work into his rambling speeches that day, but the theater was magic.
Well, that was something she couldn't avoid being true.
{Notes;
So this is just before she begins working with Oliver, it's kind of a quick change of life moment before they meet up again and begin working together in the 90s.}

At its core, every piece of media we ever have consumed and ever will consume — whether it’s art, music, books, movies — is fundamentally about love, or the lack of it.
it’s an inescapable facet of human life. it could be about the love you have for people in your life, or how much you hate your job, or love your city, but the love is always there.

There is something deeply funny to me about the fact that, of people who pray the rosary (at least in the United States); the Catholics tend to be super conservative, and the Episcopalians/Anglicans tend to be gay.

Yep, totally didn’t just suddenly sit here and suddenly come to the realization that Sally’s obvious slight antagonism towards Eddie may possibly derive from her subtlety attempting to pair Frank and Julie together (Julierella, “costume couple” comment,…) and the possibility she may be more aware of weight the situation and/or maybe acting on behalf of the “creators” will to a certain extent…
listen. i didn't answer this earlier because i didn't wanna make you feel like you weren't cooking or imply that this Isn't plausible, but i really really really need you to understand that homophobic sally starlet, as a concept, is way funnier to me than it should be.

I am an absolute SLUT for false prophets and religious imagery in a show. I am in LOVE with the artistic implications in this movie. I am a WHORE for weird little manipulative men with fake stories and foraged images just to please their "lover".
The vampire scence with Venetia gaged me. The scene with Farleigh killed me. I personally think the Director casted tall ass men for 2 things, 1) to emphasize the supposed "power imbalance" and 2) so we could all gaze into Barry Keoghan's bright baby blue eyes.

I worked on some burn scar sfx makeup this afternoon for a tiktok (@deedeedoesdrama). I wore it to a game night with some friends, and they all really liked it. This is my second time recreating Zuko's scar, and I like this attempt much better than my first, which was last fall semester in a theatrical makeup class.

Stevie Ray Dallimore, an actor and teacher, had been running the theater program for a private boys’ school in Chattanooga for a decade, but he never faced a school year like this one.
A proposed production of “She Kills Monsters” at a neighboring girls’ school that would have included his students was rejected for gay content, he said. A “Shakespeare in Love” at the girls’ school that would have featured his boys was rejected because of cross-dressing. His school’s production of “Three Sisters,” the Chekhov classic, was rejected because it deals with adultery and there were concerns that some boys might play women, as they had in the past, he said.

Me as a Propsmaster: *enthusiastically making endless, constantly revised lists and hiding away for hours upon end painting wooden staffs, goblin mode at 50% capacity at all times* "ALRIGHTY WHAT'S NEXT? HIT ME. HIT ME!"
Me as a Stage Manager: *thinks going to bed at 11 is early, loopy from exhaustion at all times, running on caffeine and stress, +3 dex from writing endless emails, is terrified of authority (somehow is the authority????), is totally confused at all times, just Trying My Best* "Alrighty guys, welcome to rehearsal today we're doing scenes one and two, remember we're off book next week so please learn your lines...please..."

[id/ three photos of op, a white masculine person with shoulder-length curly dark hair. he is wearing a white button down shirt that is almost entirely covered in stage blood, and has more stage blood on his neck, face, and hands.
in the first photo he has a huge smile and is high-fiving someone out of frame.
in the second photo he looks forward sternly with a hand on the shoulder of someone else who is mostly out of frame. the other person is wearing a white dress and is also covered in blood.
in the third photo he is giving two thumbs up and a big grin. /end id]
