or: How Ice became Rebel’s godfather
like father, like daughter masterlist
warnings: this takes place during the brief time Ice and Mav worked at Top Gun together, a little angsty, Mav doubts if he’s good enough for his daughter but it’s brief, icemav if you squint because i’ve got an agenda

He raps on the door of his co-instructor’s office. "Ice.”
The blond lifts his head from the paperwork he’s looking over, grinning when he sees him. “Hey Mitchell. Headed out for the day?”
He nods, taking a tentative step into the room. “Yeah, I just had a quick question for you about my kiddo.”
Ice chuckles, putting his pen into the holder on the desk. “How’s she doing?”
Maverick shrugs. “Pretty good. Lost her first tooth yesterday, so we got a visit from the tooth fairy last night.”
“Good for the little rascal. Well, what’s your question?”
“Do you want- Well, would you- Would you be her godfather?”
He finds himself unable to keep Ice’s eyes, falling to the clock behind him as it falls silent in the room. The longer Ice takes to respond, each second ticking by, he scrambles to pull himself together, to apologize for asking, to forget about it-
“What would she need a godfather for? She’s got you.” Ice says, standing up from his desk. He shrugs, averting his gaze to the floor.
“You know, I just- I just want to know that if something happens to me-”
“Nothing’s going to happen to you.” Ice says firmly, a finality in his tone he usually can’t argue with.
He continues on like Ice didn’t say anything. “-and I don’t come back down, she’s got someone on the ground to take care of her and I can’t really put that kind of ask on Carole, not after-” He stops, swallowing. “Well, she loves you anyways, so you felt like the obvious choice.”
“Where’s her mother? She shouldn’t she be around for this kind of thing?” He says with a wave of his hand.
That earns Ice his gaze, scowling as he raises his head. “I hope Natalie never comes back into the picture, because if she does it’s going to be because she’s trying to take my daughter from me.”
Ice is silent again and Maverick watches the minutes tick by, growing more uncomfortable with the time that passes every second.
“Look, don’t feel pressured to say yes or anything, you don’t even have to- to think about it.” He pauses as his eyes flicker back to Ice, the tall man frowning. “Actually, forget I asked.”

The doorbell rings.
“Brad, that’s Ice, would you go grab it?” He asks, the vegetables sizzling on the stove. The boy nods, slipping off the chair, Hardy Boys book in hand. It’s only a few more minutes before Ice appears in the kitchen doorway, Bradley’s nose still tucked into his book.
“Guess, I’m not worth saying hi to anymore.” He chuckles.
Maverick shakes his head. “Don’t mind him, he’s had his head in that thing since we left the library this afternoon.”
“Uncle Icee!” His kid screeches and Ice turns, barely catching the toddler barricading into his knee. Ice reaches down, picking her up as a wide grin spreads across his face.
“Hi kiddo. You’re awfully dirty.” He glances up from the food on the stove to see his kid covered in dirt. Her hands, which look oddly sticky, make messy work of pushing her hair out of her face.
“Playing pirate outside with Batman.” He hears the dog in question come in through the sliding glass door of the Bradshaw home, Carole following. She appears in the kitchen doorway a moment later.
“Hi Tom.” She says, offering him a warm smile.
“Hi Carole. How are you?”
“Good. Mav, you're burning the broccoli. Move.” She grabs the spatula out of his hand, nudging him away from the stove and he follows, leaning up against the opposite countertop as Ice watches his kid chatter excitedly, an enthusiastic smile on his face he nods along.
As Carole finishes the food, his daughter tugs Ice to the table, demanding he sit right next to her.
He quietly observes the way Ice goes willingly, the way Ice listens to everything she has to say, and even eats the broccoli off her plate so she doesn’t have to.
“He give you an answer yet?” Carole whispers as they watch their kids help Ice clean up dinner, Ice insisting he do the dishes since they cooked for him.
He shakes his head. “I wish he would. He’d be good for her.”
Carole sighs, looking at him. “Not any better than you are for her, Mav.” He shrugs and Carole sighs again. “Oh c’mon Mav, that girl loves you and she would be lost without you.”
He tilts his head, conceding to her words. “She needs someone who can look after her and I can’t give her that. You know I don’t want to stay at Miramar-”
“Mom! Can we have a sleepover?” Bradley asks as Ice lifts him up to sit on the counter next to his daughter. “Please! Tt’s Saturday and I want to stay up watching Scooby Doo cartons.”
Carole shrugs. “Up to Mav.”
He sighs, shooting the woman a glare. “Why do I have to be the bad guy?”
“Dad!” His daughter whines, pouting. He sighs as Ice chuckles, all knowing he folds anytime she makes those eyes at him.
“Honey, you’re filthy.”
She shrugs. “So?”
“So I’m not going to let you dirty up Carole’s house. Plus, I’m sure Ice wants to get out here.”
“Don’t drag me into this Mitchell.” Ice says, pointing a soapy fork at him.
“How about this? We go home and get you a bath and next Saturday you and Brad can have a sleepover then?”
His daughter sighs, crossing her arms. “Fineee.”

There’s a sharp knock on his office door. “Mitchell.”
He glances up from the box he’s packing. “Hey Ice.”
“Hear you’re leaving.”
He shrugs, avoiding eye contact with the man. “You know how it is, head in the clouds, all that.”
“I’ll do it.”
He pauses, toy airplane Bradley had given him sitting heavy in his hand. “Do what?”
“I’ll be her godfather.”
He shakes his head, setting the plane down in the box. “You don’t gotta do that just cause I’m leaving Ice. She’s in good hands, Carole’s watching her. Bradley’s thrilled.”
“You’re right that she needs someone on the ground looking out for her.”
He shrugs, setting the lid on top of the box. “It’s still a huge ask. I shouldn’t have asked that of you.”
“Do you not want me to be her godfather?” Ice says with a frown.
He’s quiet for a moment, eyes remaining on the wooden desk. Finally, he sighs. “You’re good for her Ice. And she loves you so much.”
“Maverick, I adore your daughter and I have ever since she dubbed me Uncle Icee at Goose’s funeral.” Ice takes a tentative step into the room. “But I am not her father and I would never take that from you.”
“I know.”
Because he does, knows Ice loves his kid, loves Bradley, but he would never overstep.
But sometimes he wishes he would. Overstep, fight him for his daughter, because Lord knows Ice could give everything he can’t to his daughter.
“Maverick, raising a kid isn’t just about being the best parent all of time. It's about doing right by your kids, making sure they’re growing up happy and loved and safe.” Ice takes another step closer to him. “Is she happy?”
“She is.”
“Is she safe?”
“Of course.”
“Is she loved?”
“Absolutely.”
“Then you’re doing enough for your kid.”
He gives the man a watery chuckle. “When’d you get so smart about all this parenting shit, huh?”
Ice claps him on the back. “Gotta stay single to impart all my wisdom on to you.” Ice sighs, his hand falling from his back. “I’ll be her godfather on the condition that you do right by your kid in always coming home.” Ice fixes him with a stare. “Your daughter deserves to grow up with her father. Don’t lose yourself so much up there that you don’t come back down here.”
Ice’s words stay with him the rest of his life.

I'm not sure yet if this will be a Bane x reader oneshot or not.
I like it like that, but I could find ideas for part 2. My only problem being that I still need to finish others Tom Hardy's characters story, while wanting to write Feyd Rautha stories.
As much as Y/N listened to these stories over and over again, she couldn't imagine the feeling everyone would describe.
The moment your skin touched your soulmate's skin, and suddenly everything became clear, better. A feeling of joy and the burning need to stay by this person's side forever.
It was a rare phenomenon that scientists could not explain. It was completely impossible to know when this would happen, or if it would happen, because fate seemed cruel. Most people either didn't have soulmates or didn't have the chance to meet them in their lifetime. The world was too big and time too short.
There were still skeptics, who claimed that it was all nonsense, lies, invented by people blinded by love or who wanted to give themselves a certain gender. Only those who ended up meeting the person changed their mind, the others remaining too jealous to accept the truth, considering that it was only a romantic utopia.
Y/N wanted to believe in it. She dreamed of meeting her soulmate and experiencing this special moment.
Her parents were not meant to be together. It was visible.
In her entourage, she had an uncle who had had this experience, a few neighbors, a friend, and all had said the same thing.
What they had in common was that they were all good people. Maybe that was one of the reasons.
“You might have had to choose another type of profession then.”
"Mom…"
“I’m just saying that cop is not the most popular job in the world.”
"And I would say that choosing to be a non-corrupt police officer in Gotham is almost like being a saint."
"You'll end up getting killed, long before you meet your soulmate. I'll never understand why you wanted to be a cop, especially in this town."
There came a day when her mother's fears almost became a reality. The day when terrorists took the entire city hostage with a bomb, preventing everyone from entering and leaving.
It was probably not what she had thought when she talked about dying, but for several months, hidden with her colleagues, Y/N thought about her soulmate, trying to imagine this meeting that would probably never happen.
Staying mainly with Blake and Gordon, she tried to hide her pain, but it did not escape Miranda Tate, who took her hand with a gentle smile and asked what was tormenting her.
“We’re going to die here.” Y/N whispered. "I mean, I'm not afraid of that, that's the risk of the job. But… I didn't think it would be like this now. I wish I had met my soulmate before."
"Your rafiq alruwh. I didn't think many people cared about it here."
"My what ?"
"That's how my father called soulmates. I grew up with a lot of stories about it, because he and my mother were related. I prayed a lot to be that for one of my friends, but no. Our destinies are linked, but not like that.”
"Sorry."
"Even if I would have liked him to be mine, I wish him happiness and that he meets his other half one day. A being worthy of him, of his love and his protection. He deserves to be happy. You too, you seem kind. Maybe you shouldn't have been here."
Her words were strange, but Y/N didn’t tell the others. It wouldn't have changed anything anyway. Even though she had discovered that Miranda Tate had the detonator, that she was the real leader of the terrorists, the streets remained controlled by the militias.
As always, they were saved by the Batman. She had never really known what to think of the vigilante, protected by Gordon and hated by everyone else. He clearly wanted to help Gotham, but his methods remained illegal, and not necessarily effective in the long term.
His death was a tragedy, but not necessarily the end of a symbol. Hope was still there, even stronger, and the Gotham police were determined to ensure everyone's safety.
Y/N felt this determination too.
Still, she froze as she inspected the sewers with Blake and Ramirez. They too had a moment of hesitation, as their lamps illuminated a body. A huge body, sitting against the wall, face hidden by this frightening mask.
There had been a search for Bane and his men after the explosion. Witnesses said the Batman fought him, and won, but they found nothing.
Obviously, the terrorist had managed to drag himself here to die.
"What do we do ?" Ramirez asked shyly. “Should we put a bullet in his head ?”
"What ? Why do you want to do this ?"
"To make sure he's dead. I've seen a lot of movies, man, I know the mistakes to avoid."
She didn't approve of the speech, but Y/N agreed, it was necessary to check it out.
Feeling almost stupid, she moved forward slowly, her hand reaching towards Bane to see if he felt a pulse.
She didn't expect the large hand that quickly grabbed her neck before she could touch him.
Fear paralyzed her body, and yet there was something else. An indescribable, incredible feeling, which resembled happiness but more intense, which was absurd in this situation.
Y/N felt so lost that she didn't realize the hand was relaxing, just resting against her skin instead of squeezing and snapping her neck like it easily could have done.
"Habibi…" was the word spoken with difficulty by Bane, who stared at her with an indecipherable expression.
“Let her go right now, you bastard !”
Maybe he was as confused as her, or maybe he was too weak, but the terrorist didn't avoid Ramirez's punch, while Blake grabbed Y/N to pull her as far away as possible.
She stood still, not understanding what was happening, as Ramirez called for reinforcements, proud of having been able to knock out the giant, even though he knew as well as anyone that he would have had no chance. if his mask hadn't been damaged and he wasn't half dead.
It was not possible.
Bane couldn't be her soulmate, Y/N refused to believe it. A man like him had no soul, not after everything he had done, and above all why would he be destined for her ? She didn't feel like she had committed a crime that deserved such punishment.
She was probably never going to see him again anyway.
If he survived to Blackgate, he would be locked there forever. Even if she had permission, she had no intention of visiting him.
But the feeling remained there, strong, impossible to ignore, demanding more. An incomprehensible need to be close to the one who had touched her, so that he would touch her again.
Y/N resisted. She gave her report to Commissioner Gordon, forgetting a few small details, and indicating that she did not wish to follow this case, leaving Bane's case to better agents than her.
This seemed to surprise him, as he considered her one of his best people, but he accepted.
However, it was impossible not to think of her soulmate, since the whole town was only talking about him and his arrest. The television was on loop every day, and her colleagues thought they were doing the right thing by keeping her informed of progress.
"They say his face is horrible. I think there are photos in the file."
"I'd love to see that ! I can't imagine that fucker at all without his weird mask. Do you think he has a normal voice without that thing ?"
“I can go get it so we check.”
Ramirez's gaze met hers as he stood, and without her needing to speak, he knew it was best for him to sit back down and change the subject.
Y/N didn’t see the photos. She absolutely didn't want to.
After several weeks, she asked to take a vacation, claiming to still be traumatized by what had happened to her, in addition to the near destruction of Gotham. She needed some time to rest.
Turning off all the screens and her phone, she tried meditation to clear her mind, so she could get some sleep and forget that her soulmate was a crazy, half-dead terrorist who would soon be judged.
This miserable attempt being a failure, she turned her phone back on shortly after midnight, only to be bombarded with calls and messages, coming from several colleagues, Blake, and Gordon.
"What is happening ?" she asked, calling the Commissioner back.
"Damn, I almost sent men to check on you, you weren't responding ! Where are you ? Are you okay ?"
“I’m at home, why ?”
"Don't panic. Blake will come get you."
“Gordon, what’s going on ?”
"He hasn't said anything since his arrest, keeping very quiet, and then yesterday Bane spoke. He asked to see you, giving your name. The other agents are categorical, it's impossible that he knows ot, no one told him. The agent simply replied that you were not on the investigation, and even on vacation… Damn, he…"
“Gordon, what ?”
"He escaped, Y/N. We don't know how. No one knows where he is, or what he's going to do. But since he talked about you, I don't want to take any risks. Don't move, John will come right away."
She could have told him that she knew very well why Bane had spoken about her, and that it was undoubtedly necessary for her to leave without delay, but fear held her back.
Even if it wasn't her fault, what would the commissioner think when he learned of her connection to the fugitive ? He was a good man, but all men had their limits, and she would be the first to be wary of someone designated as Bane's soulmate.
After hanging up, she jumped out of bed to grab her gun and shoes, ready to wait for Blake to arrive in her living room.
Y/N froze in the middle of the hallway, seeing the huge figure standing between her and the front door.
His face was covered by a scarf, his posture a little less proud than in the videos she had seen of him during his city hostage situation, he appeared to be in pain, but it was obvious that if she tried to pass, he would retain her without the slightest difficulty.
“Habibi.” he whispered, and indeed his voice was different without his mask, more human. "What a joy to see you again. More beautiful than I remember or on pictures. Will you come with us without resistance ? I don't want to hurt you."
"Hands in the air." she replied, pointing her gun at him, ignoring the urge to hug him. “Don’t move, my colleagues are coming.”
"I admire your sense of duty and honor, Habibi. But I will not return to prison, ever again. And I will not leave you either. I thought of you every day. Is your neck healed ? I need to repair my wrongs to you.”
“I said, put your hands in the air.”
“So you leave us no choice, Habibi.” he sighed, looking behind her.
We. He said we, and someone gave him her name. Y/N reacted too late, one man grabbing her gun, and the other not holding her shoulder, injecting something into her neck with a syringe.
In an instant, she found herself on the ground, her vision blurring, but her body not panicking, as it was invaded by an incredible sensation. Bane had reached out to hug her, his eyes smiling as he ran a hand over her cheek.
"It's okay. I'm taking you home, rafiq alruwh."
All her life, Y/N had waited for this moment, this feeling, this sentence. She told herself that the stories we said to children were really stupid, as her eyes closed.

Saga, my dear, the time has come! It's the 10th anniversary of Peaky Blinders and I'm curious know your top 10 Alfie moments??
Hello darling! 🥰 goodness it really has been 10 years 🙈 can’t believe it!
Well, as a certified academic Alfie researcher I’d say my top are:
1. The introduction. Because everything we see when meeting Alfie Solomons, and everything we hear, is perfection. The vibes, the lighting, the soundtrack, the iconic lines are perfection. When watching s1 I was crushing on Tommy a little bit, but I have to admit that s2 made me forget about him posthaste 🙈
2. Every single one of Peaky fans can physically hear this quote: “Tommy, I will fuckin’ shoot you.”
3. The talk with Darby and the iconic “I know what I know. If you don't know then you don't fucking know, do you?”
4. Him wailing at the coppers who came in to arrest Arthur—honestly, peak cinema. We all know it was Alfie’s scheme, we all know the cops are paid for, we all know the cops are as bewildered as we are. Alfie did not have to go as hard as he did with the performance, but he did it anyway. Legendary.
5. “You're fuckin about with the Russians, ain't you, you silly boy?” Whoever gave Alfie permission to call Tommy “a silly boy” is a literary genius. Though I strongly suspect it was Tom Hardy’s own improv.

7. The whole scene in the Russian vault when Alfie not only casually revealed a bit of his own lore, he also delivered another iconic burn, this time to the Russian aristocracy.
8. “Tommy, when a pikey walks in with hair like that, you’ve got to ask yourself, Have I made a mistake?” — I have it on good authority that Cillian broke character many times during filming of that scene.
9.
“Now, how soon did you know that I was not dead?”
“You wrote me a letter, Alfie.”
“Did I?”
“Yeah, you asked about your dog.”
The way I squealed in that moment when I first watched that scene. ICONIC. From the casual “my best enemy” vibe to Alfie going straight to the topic of his dog’s wellbeing. What I would give to read that letter, it must have been mad.
10. I couldn’t find the specific moment but just the thing that happened here when he said “oh look, a ship” and then put the binoculars only to his seeing eye—he absolutely did not have to do that!!! But he only did it to spite Tommy, I’m sure, and to highlight once more the fact of having been shot in the face, you know 😂
Bonus: “Yeah, look at that little cunt ascending, he’s ascending to the heavens! Right in front of us. Before our very eyes.”

How I learned about Cillian Murphy?
Hi, everyone! I know it probably will be very boring for you, but I decided to tell you a story about how I learned about Cillian Murphy.
Well, I saw Cillian Murphy for the first time on TV when I was small. The movie «Batman: Begins» was broadcast on the cable channel. And when I saw Jonathan Crane's first scene in the court, my jaw literally dropped. Cillian looked gorgeous when he played Jonathan. And the acting was just amazing. (and by the way, after that movie, I started to get interested in the DC universe)
Then I saw him in 2018, when on one free application for watching movies and TV series on my phone, I came across a TV series: "Peaky Blinders". In 2018, «Venom» was released and I liked Tom Hardy and I watched this series because of him. (I found out that Hardy in «Peaky Blinders» too. He appears in season two, but I decided to watch the first season first). While watching season 1, I saw Thomas Shelby and I thought: «Hmm... This dude looks very familiar. I have a feeling that I have seen him somewhere before, but I don't remember where». And then a flashback a childhood memory with a Batman movie from Christopher Nolan flashed and I remembered everything.
To be honest, I didn't expect the actor to look like this now (Because since I watched Batman as a child, I haven't seen Cillian anywhere). So I was very surprised, but I was amazed to see Cillian there.
And it lasted until 2021. I have to say right away I was not a fan of Cillian Murphy. 2021 was a very difficult year for me because I was rapidly developing depression and I had various dark thoughts (I'm fine now). Out of boredom, I was surfing websites to watch some movie to calm down and distract myself, and the site recommended the movie «On the Edge» that was released in 2001. I watched this movie and, to be honest, this movie made a lasting impression on me. After this film, I began to think about life and my depression eased a little.
I really liked Cillian in that movie. He perfectly portrayed a young man with depression, apathy and despair.
Obviously, he is a very talented. I respect him as a person and an actor for his hard work and character. I really admire him even now, he's doing a great job.
I’d like to shake his hand and say simple «thank him» to him. I watched 11 projects with him and, in every project, he shows his skills perfectly. He deserves fame, fans and a big audience.

Recommend to watch:Tom Hardy Movies/Series
#1 Wuthering Heights
This isn’t on my rewatch list because it just shattered my soul. But one day I’ll watch it again if I feel like a good long cry. Tortured Heathcliff bites down hard onto his need for vengeance and doesn’t let go. Anyone, and I mean anyone, that crosses his path is destroyed, even his true love, Cathy. If only he’d let go of his rage, he could have found happiness. In the end, everything collapses around him.
#2 Revenant
You don’t really snuggle up on the couch and rewatch the Revenant. Tom’s character is loathsome, and he plays the part so damn well. With freezing snow, bear attacks, falls from cliffs, struggle for life, and Bison liver munching, this movie is for those who find early life on the American frontier fascinating. As a history buff, I loved this movie. Tom once again showed off his amazing skills at morphing into a completely different person.
#3 Inception
I didn’t put this on my rewatch list, but I do rewatch it. The only problem I have with this movie is that I need more Eames! I had to watch this movie at least three times to freaking understand it too lol. But I believe Christopher Nolan created something unique for this storyline. All the actors did an outstanding job. The action, the music, and the trippy visual effects are worth the watch.

I am not a Peaky Blinders fan. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t like the series. I think this is one of the best TV series out there. However, it just doesn’t pull me in. The Alfie scenes are too few, and I might have finished the series had they given Tom more of a storyline. Nonetheless, this is one of his most iconic roles, and watching him perform as Alfie Solomons is something magical. The entire cast is amazing, and I recommend the show to anyone looking for a new series to watch.
#5 The Take
If you watched The Take more than once, I tip my hat to you. I don’t say this because it is bad, quite the contrary. This series is exceedingly well made, but it’s brutal. Tom plays a gangster named Freddie Jackson (squeals, omg I can’t say his name without fangirling) but he is a BASTARD. I hate and love this character. And I hate myself for loving this character! Anyways, I’ll work that out in therapy. This series is a must watch if you want to be on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what awful things Freddie will do next.

This movie is hard for me to watch because of what happens at the end. I feel so bad for Tommy, and he’s fighting so hard because he’s in pain. Tom once again dazzles us with his incredible acting abilities. Not to mention the intense training he went through to become an MMA fighter.

The Drop (2014)
Bob Saginowski, a barman, becomes entangled in an investigation after the mafia-run bar where he works is robbed.
JayBell: This was an almost blind pick on our part. I had never heard of this movie at all, but Tom Hardy is in it, so why not give it a shot. Plus, a crime drama is right up our alley.
First of all, Tom Hardy’s accent takes a bit to get used to. Aside from that, the persona of his character in the first part of the movie is like likable idiot? Disheveled himbo? Oblivious bystander? Whatever you want to call it, he really plays up this personality to make the ending more dramatic and shocking. It’s actually a pretty good move because it does work. Although the “big” twist at the end is heavily hinted throughout the movie, so I’m not sure how many people were actually surprised by it. With that said, it’s fun to see the change in his character at the end after seeing him bumbling along in the beginning.
The plot is solid and enjoyable, but I did think the pacing was slightly slower than I would like. Maybe that’s because we figured out the twist so soon and I was ready for “it” to be revealed and everything.
I did get frustrated with our romance in this movie. Well actually I don’t know if I would really call it a romance. It’s more like the potential of a romance. I like that they give our two characters a lot of interactions to build up a sort of friendship without going straight to the romance. Yet, in the end, I did want to smack our leading lady upside the head and ask her if she was serious. After all that happens, I honestly think maybe it would be a good idea for her to move on. Bob isn’t like the worst she could pick (especially compared to her ex), but I think she needs to get a new type.
Obviously the puppy is my favorite character.

Anzie: Soooo this weekend was suppose to be a comedic reprieve from all the heartache we’ve endured. And last second having to find a new movie since The Princess had to be unavailable after we’ve talked about the possibility of watching it for months, would usually end in disaster for our unable-to- make-a-decision-selves. But heyyy, drama is close enough to comedy right? When it has Tom Hardy in it, riggght?? HBO also had it listed as a romance- which I get I guessssss. If I found a man in the wild that looked like Tom Hardy I could consider putting up with quite a bit, not this muuuch but some. Plus it was James Gandolfini’s last movie, and we all love a good crime movie.
So. This movie. I really liked it- the plot twists were amazing. And the actors were so good with how they made their characters behave and something ALWAY feels just off so you’re on the edge of your seat- it is for sure not boring. I have to say too even tho you pick up those weird vibes and think this is going to happen or this or that- it’s still fun watching it play out and very entertaining and very suspenseful. And can we talk about how cutttttteeeeee the pupper is?!?? Bc honestly I think he gives this movie at least 3 of its points just on his own.
That being said- even though I enjoyed it - there were moments I felt like that nervous laughter meme of Julia Louis-Dreyfus bc I was constantly like what is with Tom Hardy’s character- it was like unintentionally funny to me how he kept going on about this puppy when this huge deal about the Chechen’s money is going on. It’s golden.
My one complaint, wait make it two- first the weird ex- I know he had to be a part of it - but I don’t have to like it. And second- HOW COULD COUSIN MARV?? The movies definitely worth a watch and there’s a lot of good detail and great acting - I always have that problem of separating actors and the characters like that’s Tom Hardy or James Gandolfini playing someone - but this movie sucked me in and I was able to really just enjoy the story and the shocking twists.

the old guard is pretty self-explanatory i think? the canon queer relationship aside, there is definitely an element of... romance? devotion? literal undying love? in the way andy speaks of quynh. the way they look at each other in that scene just before they're taken away!
like.... what is that!!! i'll tell you what it's not - it's not straight lmao. the tenderness! the love!! and idk in general there's just something about charlize theron that is automatically bisexual. maybe it's the haircut. maybe it's the clothing. maybe it's the way she built herself a family that all love each other unconditionally. maybe it's because she's charlize theron and i'm a weak woman. idk. you get it tho!
(also, nile. nile gives off chaotic bi vibes because i said so. you're telling me a straight person would yeet fictional martin shkreli off a building just to kill him? no i do not think they would.)
and then there's inception. i mean we were all there in 2010 when you couldn't open tumblr without seeing about a billion posts about arthur and eames being criminal dreamsharing husbands etc. etc. guess what I'M STILL THERE. the way arthur kept track of where eames was ("eames? no, he's in mombasa.") the way eames's reaction to hearing arthur's name was "MMMMMMM aaaarthur" and that Look. like there was always this implication that they know each other really well and there's something Between them that had them not on the best of terms initially. gut feeling says it's cobb, somehow. arthur is very loyal to cobb, while eames has no qualms calling him out on his bullshit. makes sense to me that eames would have Problems with arthur, an accomplished dream thief on his own, following cobb around like a puppy on whatever harebrained scheme cobb's cooked up this time to try to get back to his family.
also. the matching totems. eames constantly teasing arthur during the planning stage. then "you mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling." the way arthur panics only when he's afraid eames might've been shot in the car chase on the first level, and doesn't panic so much about saito, the billionaire who's funding the entire thing. the way he helps eames with his IV on the second level, when he knows full well eames can do it himself. "security will run you down hard." "and i will lead them on a merry chase." "just be back before the kick." "go to sleep, mr. eames." THE INTRICATE RITUALS OF TELLING SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT THEM WITHOUT SAYING THE WORDS THEMSELVES. like not to make the entire thing about a ship but again, it's about the way they're so aware of each other. also, tom hardy's presence also makes everything bisexual. in fact considering the previous movie and this one i'm surprised i forgot to mention mad max so maybe that'll get an honorary mention later on.
also, whatever cobb and saito had going on. cobb pining after his dead wife but also going all fucking out for saito. yes yes i know he wanted to go back to his family, but what even is "take a leap of faith. come back, so we can be young men together again" like you only knew each other for what, two weeks before this?? "i've been waiting for someone from a half-remembered dream" for decades??? you had no reason to believe he wouldn't abandon you in limbo or lose himself? you waited all this while and like. limbo is supposed to turn your brain to, as eames so eloquently put it, scrambled egg, right? and yet. and yet here's saito, and he remembers cobb, all these years in limbo and he waited. an old man filled with regret waiting to die alone? what regret could saito possibly have had? ...other than cobb. and maybe saito thinks that to cobb it's just about the agreement, but the way cobb looks at him when he sees him again, "to be young men together again" not even "young men again." he said "young men together again." it's not straight, i am telling you. i am not a cobb enjoyer but i am SO fascinated by him and saito honestly. pretty sure fandom would've been all over this ship if it wasn't for cobb's entire personality.
then again tenet. mr. christopher nolan why are your movies Like this. the protagonist going along with everything neil says. the cryptic smile neil has when he talks to the protagonist. the way he looks at him when the protagonist isn't looking. so many unspoken things. neil knowing he's dead from the beginning of the story. neil knowing the protagonist will live. neil knowing the protagonist better than he knows himself. "well i prefer club soda" a smile. "no you don't." the protagonist wondering if there's any way to change things, to make it so that neil lives. neil knowing there isn't. a love story lived forwards and backwards at the same time. you're going to die in your best friend's arms and you play along because it's funny, because it's written down, because you've memorized it, it's all you know. i don't know man there is just something inherently bisexual about all these hyper masculine action movie heroes and the way they'd die for each other. the way they look at each other, the way they always choose each other. and robert pattinson plays it SO well. you know you're going to die and you are with someone who doesn't know you yet and you love him and one day you know he'll love you too but you will not be around to see it. time is a circle and love is a circle and you are always going to be on the opposite ends of the diameter of it. you will die to save his life and in the meantime you will yearn because you can't tell him. i am going to SCREAM.
which brings us to mission impossible 4 aka ghost protocol aka the one where tom cruise runs down the side of the world's tallest building aka the best MI movie ever there i said it. first of all can i just say that it's extremely funny to me how jeremy renner did not want to be in this movie and tom cruise literally kept calling him until he said yes. then there's also the story about jeremy renner doing the stretchy thing he does on set, tom cruise seeing it, and going like "oh we are SO putting that in the movie" and i thank him for it. thank you mr. cruise.

N E WAY. right off the bat we get the impression there's something we don't know about brandt. helpless little analyst who watches his boss get shot in the head right before the car they're in is punted into a river, and he lets himself be rescued by ethan hunt. he's supposed to be out of his depth trying to save the world in the field as opposed to from behind a desk, and yet there's a competence to him that's frightening. something is not adding up. that fight scene in the burj khalifa was actually SO fucking sexy — brandt's competence showing up when needed. ethan seeing him take down people as easy as pie and going all "i am SO suspicious and also SO turned on right now." the gun scene when they're hiding from the sandstorm, the way brandt disarms ethan within seconds. AND THEN. the Secret. the Shared History. brandt revealing that julia hunt's death was on him. that's the singular incident that took him out of the field. the guilt of it is so overwhelming he can barely look ethan in the eye. ethan choosing to trust him anyway and brandt accepting that trust, doing everything he can to help. the fact that he's paralleled with ethan himself when he jumps down that shaft in mumbai (and when ethan broke into the CIA in the first movie). the relieved little laugh he does when he finds out ethan knew who he was all along, and that julia is alive. the way ethan tells only him that she's alive, and not benji who KNEW her, who mourned her. not even luther, who also knew and mourned her.
hell, even the sequel to this movie is bi as fuck. like you have these gorgeous women in these movies, i am telling you my crush on jane carter is fucking GINORMOUS, there's ilsa faust, and yet it's brandt that ethan continues to be compelled by. brandt that he has all these interesting narrative entanglements with. the way the fifth movie was set up to show us brandt's internal conflict — his job vs ethan, and then we find out it wasn't ever a conflict at all. he protected ethan and kept him safe even when everyone else thought he was a sellout and a traitor. he literally fed the CIA false information to keep ethan safe while also keeping himself there as a useful mole on the inside. he left it all behind when luther told him ethan needed them. and luther didn't even trust him, and brandt KNEW it. he KNEW no one in there thought much of him, and yet he went, and he risked everything, and he did what he could to help. the way the movie set up brandt and ethan to make us think brandt would betray him, the way we didn't know brandt's true loyalties at any given time even though brandt himself always knew, and ethan always knew. the reveal that brandt never betrayed ethan, that they'd been in on the whole thing together the entire time. idk it's just COMPELLING.
and like even aside from the plot. ethan hunt is this legend within the IMF, right. even his friends kind of look at him with this weird hero worship. look at how benji acts around him. luther doesn't, but luther has been with him so long and he's got this impression of like, ethan as some infallible being. he never really questions him because he has no reason to. in his experience, ethan has rarely been wrong. ethan is not used to being questioned by these people at all. there's that inequality in their dynamics always because they see him as this mildly insane man who'll live forever out of sheer spite and who's indestructible to them, so they always go along with whatever he says. and then along comes william brandt, and he can barely look ethan in the eye but he sure as shit can disagree with him, he can call him out when he's wrong, he can find a better way of doing things. he's the only one that speaks to ethan on an equal level because he doesn't consider ethan a god of some sort – he sees him as he is. he sees the person ethan is instead of the agent and idk it's just. he's an analyst, right. it's his entire JOB to know people. he can read them in seconds, he's intelligent as fuck, and he's the one person that challenges ethan. that tells him give me a reason to believe you, to follow you. prove to me you know what you're doing. i'll follow you to the ends of the earth - but i need you to prove to me why you deserve it. and that is fucking amazing, ok. i'll forever be mad we didn't get brandt in mi:6 and probably not in mi:7 too because his dynamic with ethan was far more interesting to me than ethan's dynamics with benji, luther, OR ilsa.
honorary mention: mad max
a dudebro film to some, a bisexual movie to others. either way, charlize theron and tom hardy is a powerful combination. a movie where the woman is the protagonist and the man is the supporting character? where he's a character in HER story? he's supporting HER mission. fucking amazing. they're fighting the Man and they're freeing the women he abused and they're allied with elderly lesbians on bikes. there are cars. there are car chases. there is the war machine. there is charlize theron's buzzcut. so much to love. so little heterosexuality. SO fucking here for it.

Specificity
I will be honest, I didn't like Inception. Saw it once, understood it but didn't like it. But I like Tom Hardy and I liked Eames, so I tried to write a little something for him.
The first thing Arthur had said before she met Mister Eames was that he was difficult.
Cobb had corrected by saying that he was very good at his job, like the whole team since he only worked with the best, but that his style and the style of their Extractor were very different.
"Eames can seem playful…"
“He is childish, frivolous and careless.”
"Thank you, Arthur. Let's just say he likes to have fun, but he knows how to be serious when necessary. We've never had any problems with him."
The work went well, apart from the incessant arguments between Arthur and Eames, although it was obvious that this amused the Forger a lot.
The rest of the time he flirted with Y/N. As an Architect, she had to concentrate to maintain a coherent universe during the dream, which was not easy with this smiling man who distracted her whenever he had the opportunity.
Difficult, Arthur had said, she saw quite well what he meant.
But really very talented, and really very charming. Hard to resist.
The problem was that Mr. Eames was a gambler. A player. He loved risk and challenge, which is why he continued to tease Arthur whenever he saw him.
As soon as he saw that he wasn't getting what he wanted with Y/N, she immediately became interesting.
She didn't really think the first time they kissed. The dream had been difficult to manage, the mission dangerous, they had almost died and Eames had been injured protecting her.
Her lips were pressed to his before she realized what she was doing, too relieved that he was alive. Immediately he had hugged her, responding to her kiss without worrying about their colleagues.
Cobb had sighed, Arthur had rolled his eyes, Saito had shrugged, Ariadne had smiled and Yusuf had taken notes.
No one blamed her for her reaction, because the whole team had been affected by what had happened. They didn't talk about it again.
Eames didn't mention it again either, but he called her more often. He came to her hotel room as if everything was perfectly normal.
It was hard to remember when he joined her in bed. It seemed impossible to resist Mr. Eames's charms, despite her best efforts.
"I'll take everything you want to give me, darling." he said to her one day, kissing her forehead as she fell asleep against him.
He kept his word. Eames took what she gave, giving nothing in return. He responded to her messages, her calls, he came when she asked him, he received her kisses, her caresses, and he took everything with a big smile.
Y/N didn’t blame him, he didn’t force her to give either. It was a balanced arrangement. She just had to avoid anything complicated with feelings. This was not the domain of Mr. Eames, eternal child.
Normally, she would have acted thoughtfully and carefully, being a very gifted professional at her job. But it wasn’t about work, and Y/N wanted to take some risks when she was with him. A game could be fun, once in a while.
“I want us to get married.” she said very calmly as they dined in a chic restaurant in Paris.
"… I don't have a ring on me right now, but I can get down on one knee with a baguette."
She hadn't thought he would accept. As he was a gambler himself, perhaps he wanted to see how far she would go. So Y/N offered everything.
A grandiose wedding, with lots of guests, two cakes, a princess dress, an indecently expensive wedding ring, with less than a year to prepare everything.
She quickly realized that she had no chance of winning this game, which very quickly became more painful than fun.
"Yusuf made me think that we need several options for the banquet. We need to add dishes."
"Very well dear."
“I mean, what dishes do I add ?”
"Oh, whatever you want. Anything is fine with me."
“And Cobb asks for the gift list.”
“Yes, he asked me too, I told him to check with you.”
Very effective response, always the same. Eames said yes to everything, without ever having to do anything, since the marriage was her idea, and therefore it seemed normal that she would be the one to organize it from start to end, even if he handed her his numerous bank cards as soon as she asked.
In the end, it wasn't their wedding that she was planning, but a wedding in which he would participate, perhaps, if he didn't run away at the last moment.
Y/N wondered if she was going to break down first. And probably she should, because the game was affecting her more than it should, and for a reason that was starting to become quite clear.
After all this time together, and despite all her good intentions, it was obvious that she liked Mr. Eames a little too much.
No, she was in love, that was a certainty when her heart was racing because he whispered her name, when she had trouble breathing when he didn't respond after a mission, and above all because she wanted to to cry every time he didn't invest in the preparations.
Yet he had been very clear from the start. He would take, nothing more.
The wedding was to take place the following week when Y/N turned to him at the end of a mission, trying to hide any emotion.
“I don’t want to marry you.”
He didn't really seem surprised, but still a little disappointed. His only response was to nod, accepting this announcement without putting up the slightest resistance. He took his things and left without giving his destination.
The rest of the team was not as understanding.
Everyone asked her why she was ending such a beautiful story. Even Arthur seemed shocked, as he was the first to criticize Eames.
“You seemed so happy together.” Ariadne sighed in despair. “When Eames looked at you, he had stars in his eyes.”
“It wasn’t serious.”
"Really ? I saw the way you smiled when he called your name. And he said it with such fervor and love."
“There was no love.”
"But…"
"Ariadne, he doesn't love me. He doesn't care. It wasn't a relationship, it wasn't a marriage, just a game that went too far. Please stop."
Y/N took the first flight to Barcelona, to stop thinking about all this and be away from everyone. Unfortunately, their team had the best Pointman and Extractor, who always knew where to find his teammates.
Of course, this normally served no purpose outside of missions, and Arthur never gave out their location if it wasn't necessary.
It was impossible to imagine what Eames could have said or done to get this information, because there was no other way he could have ended up at her hotel room door.
He looked less confident than usual, scratching the back of his neck and grimacing.
"Um… Hello."
“What do you want, Mr. Eames ?”
"Darling, you know I love you right ? Because Ariadne told Arthur, who told Cobb, who told Yusuf, who told me that you thought I didn't love you. I went down on one knee and offered you French bread, it's huge."
"… If you want us to sleep together, it's really not…"
“Darling.” sighed sadly with a terribly sad look. "I think we misunderstood each other. I'll take what you give me, and you can take everything from me."
“I don’t feel like I get much from you.”
"I agreed to marry you ! And be careful, I'm delighted, the happiest day of my life, and I would have accepted all the other requests. Anything to make you happy. That's why I wanted you to choose your dress, the flowers, the meal, to make it the wedding you wanted, because the only thing it ever needs for it to be perfect is for you to be there. I want you, nothing more."
"… I actually think we misunderstood each other."
"If it was just a game, darling… Tell me and I'll go drown my broken heart in a bar. But if you still want this marriage… I'm here."
Some people thought Eames was difficult, but in the end he was a very simple man.
So smart that he was stupid, not thinking it would be necessary to talk about his feelings. To him, it was obvious that he was in love, otherwise why would he spend so much time with Y/N ? Why would he want to hear from her, have her in his arms, have her named after him ? She was as smart as him, if not smarter, she should know that.
Yes, he liked gambling, his life wasn't stable, but when it came to that sort of thing, he was a romantic gentleman. Yusuf knew this. But not the rest of the team.
He hadn't thought that Yusuf didn't talk about his secrets with others, and that the rest of the team had been able to warn her against some of his bad habits, which didn't reflect very well on him.
He seemed casual, but with Y/N, he had been very serious.
"I can take over the entire wedding planning. It will take a long time, I have a lot of ideas. I don't know if you've noticed, darling, but I have imagination. The decoration, the clothes , music… So many possible themes but an unlimited budget. I mean, almost unlimited. I played a bit after the wedding cancellation and you know what they say ? Unlicky at cards, all that. What do you think of an underwater wedding ?"
“Maybe we could slowly resume the relationship before talking about marriage again.” she sneered, as relaxed as at the beginning of their story, when everything was simple.
"We can. I also have lots of date ideas. Are you afraid of heights ? Allergies ? In fact, I already know, I may have hacked your computer and forced Arthur to tell me the rest, but I really want you to tell me about yourself.”
“What if I want to talk about you ?”
“Ah, my love, we are going to be very bored, we will need a lot of alcohol. I know where our first date will be !”
They didn't talk about marriage again right away. No, Eames waited until the third date to propose again with a basket filled with several types of bread.
The team didn't really know how to react when they received wedding invitation again, where the new date had been replaced by hand, with a smiley face. They were happy, because Eames and Y/N seemed happy together, but at the same time they were afraid that the same nightmare would start again.
“If he hurts you, tell me.” Arthur said, one hand resting on his gun.
"Everything will be alright."
"Hmm. And remember he's an idiot, don't hurt him too."
“Oh, Arthur, you care !” cried Eames sarcastically.
"No, you might disappear again and even if I found you, it would jeopardize the mission."
"So charming, mate. Why are you my best man again ?"
“I’m Y/N’s best man.”
“Specificity, right darling ?” Eames chuckled, taking Y/N's hand to kiss it, his eyes shining that screamed that he loved her more than anything, even if he wasn't good at telling it with words.

i’ve never sent in for a matchup or anything similar so let’s give this a shot (babe i’m low-key terrified, i’m not sure why - hence the anonymous)
i wouldn’t say i’m shy, but still more of an introvert as i much prefer more time with myself - kind of a wallflower by nature, but if i can be quite with outgoing people i click with.
i think most people would describe me as creative, caring ,and quite soft by nature, although i’ve had a couple people say that i’m intimidating to to due to my appearance, although i’m not too sure what they mean by that.
i am. also affectionate with friends, many hugs, hold my hand or i’ll grab theirs when i see something interesting, i’ll split my food if i can make them smile- and babe, big secret- i’ve never been in a relationship so i have never held a romantic interests hand which, honestly? just mean. i’ve spoken to a few people, and i. just cannot string sentences together and get dummy flustered
appearance wise? i have stretched ears (6mm), wear big ass, chunky heels a lot. i really do not know how to describe my style, a lot of midi dresses, cardigans, floral net-y tights- quite 80s inspired if i’m honest, also meaning baggy jumpers and band tees. a lot of dark colours in my wardrobe, but not entirely! neutrals and greens are also a big thing in that department!
i’m roughly 5’2 (the HEELS, man i feel so tiny without them- normally they add around 4-5 inches). also. i feel naked without my red nail which is ridiculous ik
i’m quite pale, dark blue eyes, and darkish brown hair with shaggy layers-kinda wolf cutty, around collarbone length. people semi-regularly tell me i’m pretty, but we don’t believe them because i use to get bullied for my looks and being the weird quite kid, so that’s ace.
i grew up listening to my parents music and damn me if i don’t still- so a damn lot of pink floyd, portishead, nine inch nails, - the pixies and satans rats being my favourites at the moment!
hobby wise, okay.
practically everything artsy, currently studying graphic design and the arts - so it takes up a lot of my time and i love it! the art i do produce is weird, creeps some people out- not gory per say but it does border the line of disturbing to some!
i’d a massive literature nerd, i spend a lot of my time reading - mainly fantasy fiction, a lot of classics- i grew up on shakespeare and tom hardy, a lot of the stuff you read in school and hate? i love. more modern stuff tend to be thriller/murder mystery/obscure- if we were villains being my all time favourite for the past four years
a pretty evident one would probably be music, i love vinyls, something i got from my dad as well as his taste - he’s a massive metallica fan so i have every one of their albums up to 88, but honestly i don’t really listen to their stuff often enough to call myself a fan

a scenario/head canons would be great, but don’t worry if you’re too busy! i do have a preference for men, but honestly just have fun and do whoever you’d rather write for!

“okay…” you murmur, doing as told. things were quiet around you, save for the idle sounds of the forest and chrissy rummaging through her bag. there were a few sounds of zippers opening before they completely stopped. “hold out your hands.” you did just that, a brow raised in silent question.
something smooth and cool slid into your hands, causing you to curl your fingers around the item. “now you can open your eyes.” chrissy stepped back with a smile, looking down at you. you cracked your eyes open, gasping upon seeing the familiar white line leading to the triangle that spit out a rainbow in the back. “chrissy! thank you, thank you!” you squealed with a growing grin, briefly hugging the vinyl close to your chest before turning to safely tuck it away in your bag.
“i’ll just say now that what i got you isn’t much,” you began, moving to hide the small box and paper behind your back. “so… sorry if it’s not what you expected.” chrissy shook her head, “that’s fine. a grad gift doesn’t have to be something big.” she reassured you. you gave a soft hum, flashing her a quick smile. “now it’s your time to close your eyes, i’ll let you know when you can open ‘em.”
chrissy nodded, doing as you instructed. “er… do i have permission to touch you?” the blonde stiffened at your words, her cheeks flushing before she softly cleared her throat. “yeah, go for it.” she confirmed. you stood from your spot on the bench after removing the cover from the box, placing the items on the tabletop and grabbing the gold necklace from inside. you turned to chrissy’s back, leaning down to get better access. gently brushing her hair from her neck, you got a good whiff of her sweet strawberry shampoo, causing the back of your neck to burn.
you gently unhooked the chain of her other necklace, setting it in the discarded box. you crossed your other hand in front of her face, bringing it to the back of her neck to properly hook the necklace together. chrissy’s hand drifted to the sun charm that rested on her chest, a faint smile on her lips. “okay, now you can open your eyes.” you told her, moving to grab the drawing you made. she did just that, looking down at the sun charm between her fingers. “um… i got you one that matches my moon necklace,” you began, “the charms, they… they fit inside each other.”
chrissy chuckled, “it’s beautiful. thank you.” she smiled, lifting her head to look at the drawing you held out to her. she gently took it from your hands, bringing the paper close to her face. “this is amazing too.” chrissy breathed out, her eyes scanning over the contents of your artwork. “thanks. i’m… really glad you like it.” you rubbed the back of your neck, slowly seating yourself next to her.
chrissy now turned to face you, the cheerleader lowering the drawing into her lap. “i… actually have one more thing for you.” chrissy said now, causing you to raise a brow. “what’s that-” the feeling of her lips against your cheeks practically made your eyes bulge out of your skull, your cheeks lighting ablaze at the feeling. chrissy slowly pulled away, her head ducked and obscuring your vision of her face.
“thanks chrissy,” you murmured after recomposing yourself, “i really loved that…” she lifted her head, her lips upturned in a smile.
“really?”
“really.”

What I watched this week (3/20-3/26)
Oops, It's late! Anyways hope y'all enjoy.
The Wicker Man (1973, dir. Robin Hardy)
So apart from my obvious bias of being a Neofolk fan watching the Neofolk movie, the Wicker Man fucking rocks. Everything about it is masterfully crafted, from the story to the subtext to the imagery and ESPECIALLY the soundtrack.
I greatly enjoyed the commentary on religion and conservatism, which despite this movies age still manages to hold up some. Christopher Lee is amazing and really carries this movie with his convincing performance.
I don't have a lot to say about the Wicker Man that isn't insane raving about how pretty it is, but I will say that it is not like Midsommar at all outside of aesthetics :-)

Eyes Wide Shut (1999, dir. Stanley Kubrick)
I loved this one, kinda unsurprisingly. Tom Cruise knocks it out of the park, which is surpring - as I normally hate Tom Cruise. But that aside, this movie is fascinating. It does a really good job at putting you in the shoes of someone truly in over there head - wandering around lost, looking for answers, afraid but yearning for more. It captures all of these emotions well.
I liked what it had to say about the intersection of sex and class, and even more what it had to say about desire - and how desire can both bring people together and apart.
Go watch it, it's so much more than just the haha funny cult movie. In fact, the cult is a relatively small part of the plot for how much people talk about it!

Moonrise Kingdom (2012, dir. Wes Anderson)
As dark, foreboding, and weird my usual aesthetic (and taste) in movies is. I am not immune to a feel-good Wes Anderson movie. Maybe it's the style, maybe it's the melancholy, maybe it's the soundtrack. I'm not really sure, but I love Anderson. Especially when I'm stuck in bed with the flu and can't think, which is when i watched this one!
And surprise surprise. I loved it, as it has all the trappings of every other Anderson film. Solid, unique characters, a fun aesthetic and a story with just the right amount of stakes that despite it's simplicity wraps you up and keeps you enthralled. Is it his best work? no, I don't think so. But it's a ~* Good Fun Movie *~ nonetheless :-)

Halloween II (1981, dir. Rick Rosenthal)
Meh. Is what i have to say about Halloween II. It was FINE. I feel the same way about it that I do Scream 1. It's decent, it's well made, It has it's fun moments, but it's just nothing more than that. It doesn't have an amazing aesthetic, or extremely well done kills, or out of this world pacing and suspense. It does have the same high quality cinematography and lighting of the original, but that's about it. For movies that take place on the same night, they could not feel more different.
3/5 - put it on in the background while you get high or bang your gf or at a party or whatever.
Gone Girl (2014, dir. David Fincher)
YOU ALL LIED TO ME ABOUT GONE GIRL. ALL OF YOU.
AND IM SO HAPPY YOU DID.
Because I hate the essence of Amy's character, and I hate the people who idolize it. This movie. THIS MOVIE IS SO GOOD AT MAKING ME HATE AMY and I love it. Sure, Nick is not a good guy either. I don't like him at all, but dear GOD was I rooting for him more than I've rooted for any other movie main in a while.
If this ever escapes, I will get crucified for this and I do. Not. Care I hated that bitch and watching her downfall over the runtime was amazing and enthralling.
What's even more commendable is that the ending twist manages to still be satisfying despite not ending the way I (or Nick, most likely) would have wanted it to end!
Also shoutout to the score I love you Trent Reznor.
Go watch it it if you haven't, and go watch it again if your a weirdo who thinks its some feminist masterpiece
