hewwo my friends!! i wanted to tell you all about my new 60 card deck i built recently!!

that's right

i said 60 card >;3

im not only a commander player teehee

its also fully modern legal!!

ive actually been grinding a whole lot of 60 card games against my girlfriend/toy/pet/wife @goqmir with a bunch of decks lately and its been a blast :3

so today i want to talk about my deck which i haven't thought of a clever name for yet which is:

EXPEDITED INHERITANCE COMBO

this is a list that i changed up to suit my personal wants and needs and while i couldnt find the original decklist i stole the idea from an mtggoldfish short on youtube and according to seth the first person to build this was a user who goes by SMOMP1 but thats all i know

anyway!! i believe the original decklist was a purely mono red deck but i thought. hey. this is a combo deck, why don't i add tutors? so i went rakdos and am playing 4 tutors and its made the deck feel very consistent :3c

so here's the basic layout of the gameplan: the main combo is playing marauding raptor to cheapen the cost on all our 0 and 1 mana creatures so that they are free, and then playing expedited inheritance which means when you play a 1 drop creature for free marauding raptor deals 2 damage to that creature on etb, which then triggers expedited inheritance to exile 2 cards from the top of your library. the idea of this is to keep hitting more cheap creatures off these exiled cards so that you can play more and more creatures and exile through your whole deck.

the deck is actually rather simple and is a two card combo (if you arent counting all the small creatures that is lol but theres a million of them) and yeah thats the main idea.

now you may be asking,

how do you win??

well theres a really cool answer to that question

the main way to win the game, or really the only feasible way, is to dome your opponent for 50 with aetherflux reservoir

the way to win with aetherflux is to go through your whole deck with the combo loop described above. by doing this you cast so many spells that when you get down the reservoir it only takes a few spells cast and you win the game!!

it may sound like this deck is really slow to win because you have to get down the resevoir and 2 other combo pieces to win but we actually have a plan to get this thing down the turn you combo, which can be as soon as turn 3 >:3c

and its this little guy:

as you go through the whole combo loop you will eventually find and play 4 myr moonvessels which when they all are played and subsequently killed by marauding raptor will net you 4 colorless mana which is just enough to play the reservoir!!

as for the rest of the deck there are some honorable mentions plus the changes i made to the deck

inquisitive puppet is probably the best small creature in the deck that is not combo essential because it scrys on etb which sets you up to either combo more cause it finds you more creatures to play or it can help find combo pieces to set up!! it also can exile itself to make a new creature if you had to play it before the combo which is 2 more free cards!!

theres also stuff like combat courier which can just be sacced to dig deeper for combo pieces and such but most of the other creatures are just cheap with minimal bonus affects. im also playing myr servitor for funsies mostly. the main thought there was that if my combo fizzles i could theoretically combo the next turn since they return themselves to the battlefield on upkeep but thats oddly niche and i think ill swap them out for something else

as for changes i made to the list, i added black for tutors and also better removal.

i added diabolic intent as my only tutor because it isnt too expensive and also is perfect for the deck. since im playing so many dirt cheap and somewhat useless creatures why not play a card thats essentially demonic tutor with the small price of sacrificing a creature!! this card has played really well in my matches and essentially gives me 4 extra copies of my combo pieces!!

im also playing a weird creature choice in hope of ghirapur because i thought it would be interesting to try out.

the idea behind the hope is that it serves as a cheap creature for the combo but also presents a form of protection if i get it down before the combo. if i can get in a hit with it before the combo and sac it then it prevents the opponent from casting noncreature spells for that turn which is theoretically enough to sneak the combo in through removal. its not a perfect plan but it had gotten me a couple wins.

as for the sideboard im kind of new to the concept of sideboarding and i built it to be effective against general decks but also im only playing against my wife rn so it isnt perfect.

anyway yeah thats the deck!! it will continually change as i add new cards cause im still testing it but i hope this was either insightful or entertaining and i suggest giving the deck a try and maybe putting your own spin on it!!

I accidentally drew the same goddamn pose 3 times lmao. Why is posing legs so hard i always fall back on posing them in the shape of a 4. Also, new freak!! Her name is Jerryjack. More about her + individual images + couple other things below the cut vvv

I don’t think I’ve posted any drawings of her other than her first, but i’ve been drawing rig a lot more like this rather than that first one. More graphic head shape, more upright ears, one eye hidden, mouth hidden by scarf, what have you. I think she looks cooler and is way easier to draw like this, but is a little less sonicy, im sure I’ll find a balance sometime. Rare carrion non-blep, this pose is cool but i did not even try cleaning this up lol.

And jerryjack!! She sucks so bad i love her. They’re Rig’s best friend, known each other since they were kids and learned the trade (killing) under the same mentor. She’s 11 months older than Rig, so she’s about 25ish. She hates consistency, commitment, seriousness, kids, stagnation, compassion, anything boring, and many many other things. She loves anything fun, stirring shit, lying, inflicting blunt force trauma, herself, lockpicking, and money. She’s purely self-interested and does everything she does for funsies. She’s not a part of the postal crew cause she thinks it’s boring and is allergic to commitment but hangs around and ‘helps out’ sometimes. She’s a hitman on her own, and has way more connections through that than rig, occasionally floats jobs her way. Also sometimes places bounties on her when shes mad. Or just cause.

Unlike Jerry, Rig is a very routine and organized person. She wakes up every morning at 6 sharp despite not being a morning person. Miraculously, she and jerry lived together for 2 years and during that time rig ate microwaved oatmeal every single morning and got groceries on tuesdays. All this is to say Rig is very methodical and likes routing and things that are expected. So Jerry lost their shit when rig called them randomly and casually told them that she’s starting a non-euphemistic postal service and also spontaneously took in a couple kids. Naturally, she’s very wary of squabble and carrion, especially the latter. Assassin recognizes assassin, silly recognizes silly, they try to kill each other and then become besties (who still periodically attempt to kill each other). As for squabble, she’s surprisingly fun to interact with, so jerry warms up fairly quick and becomes a truly awful influence on her.

Here’s the first drafts and base. She’s obviously a jackalope but calls herself a hare for some reason. Is part of that reason because i couldn’t think of a pun name other than jack like jackrabbit and ‘jack the jackalope’ sounded a little too stupid for my taste (as if ‘jerryjack’ isn’t stupider)? Ummmmmmm.

Anyway, i decided to nix the asymmetrical antlers cause theres a limit to how much asymmetry i should stuff into a set of characters, carrion’s already got the lopped off ear and etc. the back and tail marking is supposed to emulate ribs

I’m still super duper undecided on jerry’s outfit and colour scheme. Every outfit ive thought up so far feels way too simple or untethered to reality in comparison to the postal crew’s, however i think the postal crew is a bit too complicated (or way too complicated in squabble’s case) and too grounded for sonic, so. Idk what to do abt that. And as for their colour scheme, as seen above her first drafts have the same red and green of the postal crew, but seeing as she doesn’t work with them it’s definitely the better choice to diverge from that. Saturated orange is the most tense and unsettling colour to me so i think it suits her off putting nature, but the white and orange combo reminds me intensely of like. 1960s egg chairs. WAIT and ulala space channel 5. And various stupid tech startup kitchen gadgets. Just generally a combo with a lot of nonthreatening and safe associations rather than the warning sign i want. Idk man i’ll workshop it eventually.

Also, cloak rig. Her previous red coat was stupid. Not sure how much smarter this is but it looks cooler. Still doesn’t usually wear it other than in towns to hide her wings or when it’s cold. Also also this is the same fucking pose again

ok i’d like to preface this with the fact that i..didnt even skim her wiki page for this. to be fair why would i theres like! barely anything on there thats true anyways

so if i mischaracterize her sorry!!!! its probably a combo of me trying to make her a bit less like how she is in Canon (a little bit more likable on the surface. think how kyoko is generally reserved but isnt directly mean/rude! kinda like that) and how i understand her character solely through fanfic lol

anyways here it is ,, :

celestia has always owned a natural talent towards singing. she’d put on concerts in the living room during her younger years and even being placed in choir in the later years of elementary.

celestia grows to not quite like her parents, however, they were loud and rude to her about her (admittedly, outlandish) dreams of living comfortably as a rich woman with her cat.

they accepted her eccentricities when she was young, but as she grew older, they pressured her more and more to conform to what’s normal.

however, 15yo celeste, ripe in her gender transition and subsequent rebellion from what’s expected of her, does NOT care! she’s gonna do whatever the hell she wants, thanks!

she’s been saving her allowance to eventually get herself something big, something other than random junk she gets bored with in a week. she spends it all on cosmetics - she buys a long black wig with clip-on pigtails (certainly not to the size of her canon ones, more like cosplay wigs) and bleaches and dyes red streaks into it herself.

she buys a shitload of make-up with what’s left of the remaining money, following every tutorial she thinks she may needs in order to successfully give off the aura she desires. it’s good enough.

she’s never had a problem stealing her mom’s clothes - even if it means slaughtering and reincarnating them into a fashionable outfit with her average sewing skills.

she begins sneaking out at night - as much as she’d love to wave her rebellion in her parents’ faces, the last thing she needs is her belongings burned in an incinerator in an effort to make her stop.

she sings for crowds, whatever trashy pop song that’s latest hit the charts that they request she sing along to a youtube karaoke of. of course, she’s made a decent enough effort to keep up with what’s popular so she knows the tune of the songs she sings and how to sing them correctly.

eventually her talent is spotted and she’s scooped up by an agency, who agrees that her group should retain her aesthetics - she performs her best when she’s looking her best.

when chosing a stage name, she recalls the european royalty she shares her dreams of living in castles with, and how their lavish and respected lifestyle represents what she wishes she could have.

for some solace, she chooses the first distinctly european name that comes to mind (as she’s scrolled through wikipedia and behindthename in fits of boredom during school many a time) - celestia ludenberg. a fittingly extravagant name for someone like her, she thinks. she likes it.

over time she grows far too attached to it and it’s no longer just a stage name, it’s her name. at first she was fine with settling for the feminine version of her original name but it’s not quite for her. she makes a conscious effort to pressure any needed documentation on her to be changed respectfully.

the rest is old news, she blows up and gets famous, gets scouted (as she’s the group leader) yada yada

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

hhhh i am so sorry if this sounds mean but the bulk of why i dont read a ton of cr fic when i was constantly devouring kylux fic largely boils down to two things

1. the technical stuff is eeh and 2. there is just not a ton of nuance in characterization or plot

both results in me being perpetually frustrated whenever i try to read most of what i open. theres been some gems!! theres also been a lot of stuff with promise where i can tell in a couple years the writer will knock it out of the park!!! but theres also a god awful amount where i'm just like that is not how dicks work lmao

i am sure a lot of that is because the cr fandom skews a lot younger than kylux (where folks are like 20-30 on average instead of 35-50 kinda younger) plus cr has a LOT of esl speakers compared to kylux whereas a TON of kyluxers have degrees in literature or library science, so like, it makes sense that there's a difference, but it still drive me bonkers that i cant just open a fic and read it without closing it halfway through because its too one note :I

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

nope!! i am very ship and let ship in all regards. there are many things i enjoy (like short!essek or the idea that caleb would and probably has made out with all of his friends) that crop up repeatedly across my fic but i'm down for basically any good faith interpretation and i LOVE when someone writes a weird headcannon so well i have to steal it

Adventures of Jolain 1/1: The Gelmir Rant

Short journal - this one is bad. The brief adventures of Jolain the Brimstone aka. Shitty Grandma, the worst build Ive made.

Awhile back, I read a post about how the Carian Family all represented a celestial body. Rennala the Moon, Ranni the Dark Moon, Radhan the Meteors and for Rykard ~ the very world itself.

Inspired, I decided to make a magma sorcery build. Even worse, I commited to a fire damage only gimmick. Yes - fire damage sorcery only. And boy, is this character terrible.

1. Background

Sorcerors tend to have stone related names - Glintstone for the academy's worthy. Bluntstone for the unworthy. Therefore - Brimstone for a magma sorceror.

Faith was the chosen damage stat as it was the only way to scale fire on attack (flame art infusion) and spell damage (Staff of the Guilty).

Gelmir Staff would be better, but its too rare.

Gelmir spells face 2 main problems - poor damage and slow speed. This weakness is not innately a deal breaker - unless the entire build IS gelmir spells. Theres also the problem of how limited our arsenal is - a fire only sorceror has 4 spells and a handful weapon arts.

Ended up benching the character ~RL90. Problem solving with her was simply draining - low power level + limited combat tools is a real fun killer.

2. Summary

1. General combat boiled down to 1 main spell (Roiling Magma), Flaming Strike WA and weapon fundamentals. Essentially, a Flame Art fighter that sometimes throw a landmine. 2. Trying to squeeze out spell damage (physicks, scorpion talisman etc.) did not give any good result (eg. charged Magma Shot has comparable damage to a jumping heavy on small weapons). Simply drawing a weapon and hitting things was the better option in almost all cases. 3. There is 1 interesting combo (PVE only); kite an enemy over the Roiling Magma 'landmine' and Flame Strike as it explodes for burst - but thats it. 4. in many ways the pain here is self-inflicted, by choosing an unusual damage type (fire), in a school with limited spells (gelmir) and with a stat for which staff options are poor (faith). 5. Main takeaway is combat options and a good 'feel' playstyle is important to me. One of the reasons why I dont enjoy 'X weapon only' runs or builds that stack buffs to combo-burst enemies. 6. For future builds, I need to be aware if a build idea is just rotten. Issues started to show ~mid-game; trying to brute force with levels and upgrades didn't change the playstyle being limited.

3. The Rant

While the build was a failure, I need to talk about the Gelmir magic school for abit. This school has a few distinct properties...

Fire damage sorcery

Int/Fth, req. low fth + high int.

Lingering lava pools

Slow cast times

Long range + arcing projectiles

Decent poise damage for spells

The idea here seems to have been 'big casts, explosive impacts' - Wizard artillery essentially. In practice, the game offers much better options for artillery in the form of ballistae and other spells (eg. Cannon of Haima).

Can be argued that fire damage gives options vs magic resistance - but Gelmir spells are not suited to direct spam due to slow speed as well as reasons unique to each spell. You can't just spam enemies from afar as with glintstone school.

This, along with lava pools mean that Gelmir spells care most about raw impact.

Due to how defense works - multiple small hits are less effectice than a single equivalent big hit. Lava pool burn is poor until late-game (~280 staff scaling seems to be the point where its notable)

This then brings up staff choice - At 80 int rennala also has significantly more scaling that Gelmir at 40/40 int/fth. Same is true of academy staff at 70. Gelmir staff is only competitive vs pure int staves at 60 int.

Now for the individual spells...

Magma Shot

Magma Shot dares ask the question - "what if a throwing pot costs 16 fp".

With lockon, the range and accuracy is awful. Manual aim fixes this but runs into a different problem - hitbox and impact explosion is very small. Expect it to fly through enemies harmlessly or explode near their feet with no effect. Damage is also very unimpressive if it hits.

Has a niche of cheap but weak artillery. Problem is that long range bombardments need splash to be good. IMO, a mid-point between explosive impact and precision has limited use.

Roiling Magma

The landmine has great impact on paper, though landing this in active combat is hard. The game is fast, the spell is slow and the explosion is modest. Compared with the other big explosive spells like Haima Cannon - its very mediocre.

Does allow for some intresting PVE - clearing dungeons via. 'stealth bombing'.

The landmine will 'fizzle' on many surfaces - such as breakable objects. This includes things like pillars that only big enemies can smash.

Gelmir's Fury

Has the niche of being the best way to flood a wide area with lava. Strangely, its strongest property is a weird (maybe bugged?) hitbox - very commonly deals burst damage to enemies that don't appear to be hit by the spell.

Rykard's Rancor

Not a commonly used or particularly strong spell, but its fair IMO. Found 3 common uses.

Screen flooding in PvP

Crowd-control, can kite large groups though the flames.

Multi-hitting large foes.

Only complaint is that it doesn't free aim well - Rykard himself uses a variant that travels in a simple big arc.

Final Thoughts

Despite all this, I do like Gelmir spells alot. They are situational tools and not straight replacements to melee combat - which is preferable to *some other* schools we shall not name.

Biggest issue is the small hitbox and poor aim on Magma Shot. That and Roiling Magma 'fizzling out' on a large number of surfaces.

OKAY GREAT

There's this God, his name is Duplicity and he takes the form of a red fox.

He is one of the oldest beings in the universe and is actually 2 different gods that sorta- merged? Basically, he was previously Cupid, God of love and Fib, God of deceit, but was merged into one being by his sister Orbit, the Goddess of chaos.

He has these creatures that live in his realm called Doves - they are humanoid with bird like wings and they typically have pink or gold eyes)

Most Doves used to be humans but had failed to uphold their end of a deal, and got turned into doves

In Duplicity's realm theres a plant thats venomous and is used to make poison for a company in the mortal realm.

Anyways, the main character is a Dove named Elliot that meets a mortal named James, Doves work like Cupids do, and Elliot is supposed to make James fall in love with some woman whos currently not named.

Thing is, James is aromatic so yk he doesn't really want this, so he makes a deal with Elliot that he'll find a way to turn him human again if Elliot doesn't make him fall in love, Elliot agrees.

But Duplicity finds out that Elliot is planning to become and turns him into a "Fallen"

The Fallen are a group of ex-Doves that had betrayed Duplicity or failed to many of their missions.

They are basically the same as the Doves appearance wise, the biggest difference being a lack of the gold jewelry that the Doves usually wear, and unlike the Doves they live in the lower section of the the realm (or in the dungeon of they did something really bad)

The Fallen also have a slightly harder time flying although they are capable of it.

I don't have the ending figured out yet

Anyways I hope you liked my probably very incoherent story idea, I've been working on it for like a year but it's still definitely a work in progress

How do you come up with super pretty design and fur patterns??

ooo this is such an open ended question theres a lot i could say ill ramble more abt more technical n specific tips under the cut, but honestly my biggest tip would just be to like, look at so much fucking furry art. looking thru other ppls art n character design is both rly fun and literally studying for ur own work. i mean id recommend looking at char design both furry and not furry in general cuz its all useful stuff and rly good to get like a diverse variety of shit to live in ur brain u can take out as insp or little things here n there for ideas for ur own design when its useful. looking at actual animals of all types and species is also useful, lots of cool patterns u can find that way and for some design in particular i will primarily be using markings similar to actual animals ive seen (at least like for example the concept of a darker mask of fur that goes under the eyes a certain way, etc). canines and felines in particular have a very very wide variety of markings u can use as inspiration. other animals too but those tend to be popular w furry art n design n r some favorites for me personally lol

for me its like, a lot of practice to get good at furry art and furry character design specifically, like pretty conscious effort since i was a kid cuz thats what i was interested in and those were the artists i admired and found as big inspiration and wanted to draw like. and ofc i am still trying to improve n learn more myself! so id say to start like.. a lot of practice, ofc looking at actual animal markings cuz u can get a LOT of good ideas that way, and big time: studying other ppls art and character design. u r never looking at other ppls art Too Much u r learning when u r having fun doing that

looking at a wide variety of dif furry styles w furry design in particular is pretty useful, especially when theyre all made for dif purposes; fursuit design vs designs for comics vs furry adoptable designs vs designs created to be animated (’animator friendly’ designs), to name a few, all r serving dif purposes n have dif goals n dif reasons for why they look the way they do.

on a more technical level of How i come up w them/make them, i sat w this one for a bit n here r some ideas i wrote down. i was trying not 2 ramble but u asked the autistic guy who is very interested in and passionate abt furry art n character design so <3 many thoiughtz under the cut so its not massively long

first is that i fuck around a LOT before i settle on smth. slap colors on shit and take colors off. if ur drawing digitally and u have a program w a filter -> color adjustments option like sai 2 u can mess w hues n saturation to get combos u never wouldve thought of without that bonus help. i tend to start working on colors/markings w digital (while i may do preleminary traditional sketches of what the character could look like before colors) cuz its way easier to test smth out and then undo it if u dont like it on digital lol. and even w how i tend to try many dif things i test around before i decide on smth i like, i always keep open the possibility that this design (if im using it as an oc) is open to being changed in the future if i find smth i like more w them

getting attached to pieces of a design and wanting to build around that is great cuz its how u figure out what u like and what is important to u w this design/character, but whats also important is being able to recognize when smth just isnt working (at least the Way ur approaching it, or maybe the character ur trying it with, etc) and u need to try a different track. u can always keep that trait u rly like and want to put on a character and just rework it into a dif design later, i do that all the time! just be content with some designs maybe just taking more time to come together and thats cool too, u need time to stew on ur thoughts n try things in ur brain b4 u test them in actual art sometimes (i mean, for me at least). sometimes u just need to sit on a character design for a while and try a lot of things before smth Clicks. at least for me! sometimes its very easy to design a character and figure out markings n stuff but other times it takes me a lot of attempts and building up a design w new ideas i am getting along the way. maybe i realize this particular design trait is cool but just isnt working on this character/design so i file it away on the backburner to test on a new character later till i find a design (or oc if i RLY like it and want to draw it a lot) who it DOES fit.

i have a pretty big stock of inspiration n ideas i have in my brain bcuz i have been autistically obsessed w furry art and improving at my own since i was a kid so i just have a lot of Interest in this stuff and have a very big like.. amnt of shit to draw from i think? again, padding out what u have to draw from in ur brain in the first place. u could also save character design insp somewhere and look thru it before u start working on a design urself, i do that sometimes! it gets the creative juices flowing for me to look at art i admire and feel inspired by before i work on my own. do stuff to get urself inspired or ur brain working in that direction, whatever way that works for u, u know urself best w it

i often keep notes of little ideas i have or things i want to try so i can try making a character design around it later, i have always loved making characters and character design so i dont rly have problems w lack of ideas or anything, its smth u just work on and if its fun u keep working on it! as a kid id do stuff like, just look thru lists of animals and then just make a bunch of furry designs for those animals, or do stuff like assign colors or plants or elements or whatever animals and then make Furry Versions of those. that was entertaining to me and how i had fun. this kinda stuff is still good practice (emoji randomizers r fun to make character design from, for example).

when im stumped w my own design or looking for new ideas to try that may click better, or when i just need a break cuz i definitely am not drawing all the time, i take a break from drawing and go back to looking at lots of art, aka, STUDYING <3 read comics, watch movies, etc too, whatever ur interested in and inspired by. i think a lot abt my own designs n ocs n stuff i want to draw and ideas i might use or like (or things i dont care for or am that interested in that i think ‘how can i implement that in a way that i DO like in my own design, how can i make this become interesting to me’) while im like, just living my life and seeing outfits and seeing palettes and seeing other ppls work n stuff, not JUST when im drawing. im playing around w ideas in my head before i actually draw, this is smth u probably improve on with just like, time and practice and gaining the ability to gauge if smth is worth trying before u actually draw it. again i cannot stress enough how important looking at a lot of other character design is; both what u like and what u dont like is going to be internalized and is going to be rly useful for making ur own designs. look at a lot of different art styles, look at how other ppl design characters. know that character design is something u can absolutely improve on, its not like, a talent some ppl have and some ppl dont, some ppl just r going to be more passionate abt it and WANT to spend more time on it and improve Because of that.

back to colors! the good thing is palettes (and well everything else abt designs) r super dependant on what u personally enjoy so theres not rly right or wrong ways to do them. liek if someone asked me for tips on how i personally often create palettes for characters Right Now i could think abt it and try to pick up patterns w my own art and then explain my like thought process abt it to ppl, but thats just what i personally like doing right at this moment, and that changes! u have a lot of room to just have fun. rly look at character designs n palettes that r RLY speaking to u and figure out whats working abt it for u or how u can incorporate how much u love how that artist uses colors n palettes n what theyre Doing there to make it work into ur own work. fun studying!

now a more personal one: typically (not as a general rule but often) my oc design is built to be drawn repeatedly and not be overwhelmingly complex to me. the goal is to get smth that looks good and interesting without actually being difficult for me cuz i know myself and know i wont draw a character thats too complicated for me lol whether id get bored or intimidated by the idea of just having to draw a whole complicated fuckin thing when i just want to doodle. for me, this means i tend to pull a lot of character design tips i learned from animation. ‘animator friendly’ kinda stuff, BUT i can typically afford to be a little more complex bcuz im not animating them. im not sure if this is still common but when i was growing up ‘good furry designs’ at least w the artists and other kids i was hanging around were often considered what was the most complex and cool looking over what was actually like, replicatable and feasible to draw consistently without spending a lot of time coloring. stuff that would make having to draw that oc for someone in a commission a complete fucking pain, but sure looks cool as a finished product so u Get why ppl go for those. but personally while i like seeing those designs i know myself and probably wouldnt buy one of those adoptables for that, cuz i know i woldnt draw it enough lol. i enjoy em and can draw some for art fight but as my own oc’s they probably wouldn’t like.. fit my own needs? i may have a much easier time drawing them now bcuz i have drawn furry art and furry character design for a long time so i can figure out what im looking at easier, but it probably wouldve overwhelmed me quite a bit when i got started (been too long for me to remember lol). and thats good to know, its good to be aware of what u want to be drawing and figuring out what kinda stuff YOU like.

adding on from above but that paragraph got long: of course having designs that r rly complex is a lot of fun n stuff im not saying dont do that im saying for ME personally a lot of my oc design tends to be centered around ‘what do i know /i/ will be capable of drawing multiple times without getting either overwhelmed or bored’. so thats a thought for me w my own designs. i also often make designs that i plan on using for like comics or smth later so i do want the design to not be terribly hard to reproduce if im planning on ‘this character is gonna be showing up quite a bit and i dont want to put a ton of work into every panel’

i will also say that like personally while markings r definitely important i DO try to mix design traits thru a more Character Design lense with a Furry Character Design lense. what i mean by that is its good to expand ur Character Design ability in general by paying attention to drawing differing body types and proportions, face shapes and like cheek/chin/etc shapes/fluff, nose and eye shapes, hair style and hair texture, etc. furry adoptables focus on creative and interesting markings on a base to make the character stand out from other wolf guys. which is also very useful to be studying and getting inspiration from for sure! i enjoy those often complex designs for sure. but for me personally i do try to take the approach of diversifying w designs (particularly w my own ocs), cuz its fun and cuz its pretty necessary when ur talking abt like, Character Design. even as someone who often puts a lot of design traits i Know i like onto many of my ocs (mohawks <3 muscles <3 etc) like w character design its important that ur characters would not all look completely the same if they switched clothes or palettes or hairstyles yk? even when putting ‘buff’ onto multiple chars of urs cuz u just like that and drawing muscles theres many ways to make a character muscular on a lot of dif body types and proportions, for example. and while there r parts of the making these characters all look different that may b harder w furry character design (like u got all these wolves and now u gotta figure out how they all look different beyond just colors!!) its definitely still like, Necessary to me personally! i assume u were asking more abt like fur patterns rather than this kinda stuff but i would recommend u think abt that when designing characters as well, its fun and it will definitely improve ur own work in general! and it is rly necessary to practice things like a wide range of body types and hair textures n styles. it will make u a better artist overall.

look at tips from ppl who do professional character design, whether its furry artists or ppl who work with dif types of media (movies, tv, comics, video games, etc). a wider knowledge base never hurts! i have always rly personally valued tips from ppl working in the animation industry so i think thats like one of the primary ‘tutorials’ i paid more attention to and integrating from +as well as my history as a furry artist and what furry artists tend to like and consider ‘good’ character design. it just tkes a lot of fucking around n building up stuff u can draw from. and ur taste will probably change with time and as u improve. theres a place for everything and ur eyes will get better at figuring out what looks good paired together, to u, over time. u can also get great ideas n tips n inspiration from artists of all sorts of skill levels of course!

anyway i hope this helps at all or answers ur question in some capacity, im sure theres stuff i missed but theres a lot of Words here but thats cuz i dont like.. think abt this stuff very consciously so it sounds more complicated when u write it out vs just doing it, which starts feeling more like second nature when u improve at it. i rly appreciate the compliment btw im always flattered to hear ppl like my designs!

ok actually if i had to pick a single fav team this would probably be it. this one was SOOOOOOOOOOO FUN!! summer 2019 black 2 team... delphinium/larkspur/hollyhock/oleander/lantana/hellebore <- some time around here i must have transitioned to using flower names instead and im glad i did cause it FUCKS honestly

ive also done two shiny badge quests in omega ruby... the more recent was early 2020 blaziken/aggron/manectric/absol/altaria/milotic and then summer 2015 i did swampert/roselia/camerupt/raichu/medicham/zangoose which, honestly fucked hard. maybe a shiny sun/moon run would be fun... i haven't played sun moon in aaages and that might be a fun way to spice it up:D

Where would you like to draw power from if you were in a kingdom hearts? Like, a disney world? Being a keyholder? Darkness? One of the enemy types? Final Fantasy shenanigans? Being pure of heart and having light?

Personally I'd like to be a heartless since i think they're v aesthetic. But like, friendship being a power source would also be funny to use but like, drawing on acquaintances I've only seen and not talked with from a coffee shop I frequent.

oh that sounds very sweet! there's no reason to limit yourself to one or the other, like your heart had to be there in the first place before you lost it right? and you'd make a nobody in that way too perhaps! though im sure there are many cases there just the heartless remains, i think you'd still make a dusk or a grade above even if you weren't fully a formed person? theres something really nice i think about the lingering connections of people who are familiar but strangers to you, you occupy that space mutually! you decorate their time as much as they do for you! but omg thank you for wanting to play in this space, i ended up writing a lot ';';';!! hopefully this read more cut thingy will work!

if i was in like a fated trio id play along and be a keyblade welder, but im way more into the way nobodies have their weapons, from my understanding these two things are not mutually exclusive

i feel like if i was some kinda Light being id be like a princess running away from that like gender i hardly knew her! but i dont want to blow up the lore or anything, maybe running away forfeits it! maybe i give it up like asap when i learn there are other worlds can i can run even farther away! im forming something okay in my mind's eye imagining something around the ballpark of like a re-telling thats like half a norse mythos world and half the donkey's skin (rabbit's skin,,,) where its canon complacent to the fairytale that the monarch does a runner so maybe the universe even made adjustments around it? like some kind of failsafe duplicate hearts in case a princess beefs it hm hm well! never mind the metaphysics, my rabbit skin would leave my heart behind in my world and allow me to leave, but once im in the road between worlds my heartless would be left in the darkness and my nobody would be frail and drifting in the nowhere

the heartless would be dya, prince of the new moon (this is a watership down situation) and it would be like a challenge dungeon situation where dark dungeons connect to the worlds and youd have to clear them and lock em down, once you beat me the dungeon is done for, it would stop right in front of my world which would still be completely blocked off with the light, after you beat me you would get a keyblade named like ephemeral hope; a keyblade forged in the dark for a specific purpose, its a key item you use it to unlock the door my nobody was hidden behind

and then the door opens to a bedroom where id be asleep, next to my bed a nightstand with a book that has entries to unlock, each passage is like The Plot So Far from like various xehanort point of views, once you get them all you get the item its called book of the darkest dream, after you take it i wake up and we do battle!!!!!!

all this to say, my weapon "theme" would be chainsaw and my "element" would be dreams, my little nobody name would be like xday, the crepusculum wanderer and my weapons would have that kinda colorscheme like morning/evening pinks and purples and yellow, very simplified shape but you know what youre looking at, its name is deluded lullaby

the battle would be like, i have three core attacks one thats a bunch of short slapbacks that drain mp or whatever spells happen to be cast off in the game, another combo attack that casts sleep and if i land the full combo you're "knocked out" into a dream world where previous mini bosses (like low level nobodies and non-npc heartless) fight you in like a nightmare form and probs an assembly of dream eaters that are just there cause its where they live (im learning about them Now), here i can heal myself as well you exit this space by giving me a good bop to me you have to reach me while im having a nap like float sitting on the top of my weapon like blade in the ground style; the two attacks are like telegraphed identical until they change midcombo but my final core loop is a very different telegraphed attack a high, slow, heavy swing that does DEVASTATING hp damage every time, it would probs be like based on % of hp where it does huge damage but cant outright kill you, so id lit have to rely on my nightmare manifestations to do it.

my limit breaker would be like bringing the dreaming world while you're still awake so summoning a nightmare version of a main ally to the player character to fight (plus a handful of dream eaters scurrying about), the final limit would collect this power back up and explode it into a shower of different colored stars (some which heal so you'd have to scramble around and get that, you can also bat damaging ones back at me) but they do damage, cast sleep on You, heal respectively

of course npc/pc style id have a set of weapons that all do things a little differently here and there

My complete set would be something like this:

(if i drop a keyblade as loot or have a keyblade, its called sweet dream maker; dull attacks put opponents to sleep, only when critical hits land does it reveal its extraordinary strength-it would be like very ornate in the sense theres a noxious purple rod metal like outer shape of spikes and the spikes have short chains with stars hanging off them and the internal key part is like a butter moon yellow)

What happens then! maybe all the parts of me would be too painful to rejoin? maybe because of the metaphysics in place it just cannot happen, leaving my heart all fractured and broken and then my world exposed! yes that feels right, i would still need to rest a lot

pepper - i dont know. i thought it was cute. pepper, ink, two words that remind me of tortoiseshell cats or calico cats!!

nyx - actually went looking on a website for "evil dark names" LOL but nyx is actually also the name of the goddess of the night in greek mythology so! and she is born of chaos and yknow nyx is an error variant so uh ;))) accidental connections my beloved

haven - i wanted my dream to have a name that gives a similar warm vibe. like a vibe that makes you feel safe and secure. but may also make you wonder why? or if its really safe? and the word haven can be used in different contexts, sooo why not

raven - aside from the fact that it rhymes with haven (which is adorable btw), i am a big fan of corvids. and when i think of the name raven, i dont think of someone who is an evil mastermind. i think mysterious, sure, maybe a little morally dubious, but still a lot deeper under the surface

ripper - thought it sounded badass also jack the ripper. i think jack wouldve been a sick name for him too but names that sound too regular are not allowed here

crucis - honestly !!!! i thought "whats another word for cross" and looked at a thesaurus online. then i realized the potential his name has ;)

frost - i thought it sounded cute too... and like, it sounds nicer than dust imo. also monster dust is white and frost is white. so theres that connection

creep - this one goes WAY back but i thought it was cute, creep's sibling is named snap so i thought 'snap n creep' would be a cool name combo... like oo theyre Creepin up on u... a stick on the ground Snaps behind u.... who could it be... its snap n creep!!!

usually i just choose words that i could connect to the characters, whether that be their personality, appearance, a specific quirk or ability they have, or their lore/backstory/a future event thatll happen to them !

- ok at the risk of sounding callous idk if trying to save jae-soo's dad is the right option here?? like sure he'll be alive and jae-soo might be less fucked up, but that money was assumably what kept jae-soo fed and allowed his mother to continue treatment at the hospital. if his dad doesnt kill himself for that money theyll still be homeless and broke, and shit, maybe his mom dies instead once shes kicked out the hospital and he's just got different trauma. and you know whatever bills his dad wracks up in the hospital after his car crashes is gonna push him futher in debt, not to mention the cost of repairing the car itself, or possibly getting sued by the driver of the semi (assumung s. korean road law is similar to the usa's). fucking with time is always so riskyyy how about just get the man a support system and some therapy idk

ANYWAYZ!!! ITS TIME FOR A KWAZII ADHD/AUTISM HEADCANON ANALYSIS THINGY!!! THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME HERE I GO:

(Included as many episode names I could remember showcasing some of these moments in case anyone was interested!!)

-The crew KNOWS Kwazii doesn’t like certain changes in his routine and being cooped up in one place/forced to sit still for very long (the Sea Skaters episode where he couldn’t ride out the Gup B for multiple weeks due to their Research) so they try to find solutions and keep his spirits up! (Sometimes that involves handing him off to Tweak and hoping she can give him something to do, which is why I headcanon them to be closer work on more Gup-things together by Season Five!)

-Most of his stims are Vocal! You obviously have him always yelling YEOW, amongst other various cat noises, but sometimes he tends to do Echolalia and other small noises too! This is seen prominently in the Baby Dolphin episode and the Immortal Jellyfish episode (which also has Shellington acting SUPER neurodivergent too with his forgetfulness and such)

-MORE STIM HCS when he’s getting excited or nervous he tends to rub/play with his hands a lot and if he’s REALLY nervous he might pace around a little bit (i THINK this shows up specifically in the Giant Kelp Forest episode but I’m not that certain)

-He ALSO can tend to Tap things sometimes, whether rhythmically or just impatiently (the latter happens in the Hidden Lake episode but I CANT REMEMBER WHEN THE FORMER HAPPENS FOR THE LIFE OF ME but it’s Definitely at some point in season one. Captain Barnacles was Whistling with him it was Very cute I have to refind the clip)

-And of course his tail wags n twitches like 24/7!! There’s a Moment in Koshi’s debut episode where she guesses Kwazii’s personality based on what she analyzes of his appearance, and when she makes a note of how his tail seemed to twitch out of impatience, he gets surprised and quickly stops doing it for more than a few moments. So I kinda hc that he might’ve masked a teensy bit more out of fear he’d be perceived as Impatient and Rude when its not his intention :(

-Adding onto the previous hc, Kwazii experiences Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria quite a bit! Despite his reckless nature, he’s VERY compassionate and tends to feel incredibly bad when he feels he even remotely hurt someone’s feelings or inconvenienced them in some way (See how much he tries to actively avoid waking up Tweak and telling her he may have damaged the GUPS in various Season 4/5 episodes, and ESPECIALLY the Seahorse Tale episode, in which he mistakes Captain Barnacles’ stomach growling as him being upset and IMMEDIATELY jumps the gun and gets concerned if he did anything, the Captain not even realizing what was happening.)

-He tends to get easily attached to, occasionally people he just meets, but mostly objects!! The Gup B is THE prime example. In media such as the Giant Kelp Forest episode and RECENTLY the Ring of Fire movie, he’s shown being VERY emotionally attached to “her” and the thought of not knowing where it is or what’s happened to it makes him get Nervous and Hostile.

-He has some sensory issues! He’s not a fan of hearing multiple loud noises at once and when he’s overwhelmed he can get Very easy to frustrate (See the Mixed Up Whales episode)

-Furthermore, when he’s overwhelmed he also tends to have a harder time with his Auditory Processing (See the aforementioned episode AND the Caves of Sac Actun movie)

-He’s also sensitive to certain tastes/textures (why he hates Liquorice kelp cakes unless they’re coated with Strawberry Jam in the Seahorse Tale episode, unusual food combos due to sensory reasons is a common ND thing) along with Smells (he REALLY doesn’t like the smell of vinegar, whereas everyone else on the crew notices the strong smell but doesn’t react negatively in the Jellyfish Bloom episode) and, of course, noise (this is debatable as nowadays in canon the ENTIRE crew hates the Captain’s accordion playing, however in “The Orcas” Kwazii is the only one to react negatively to his music, and at least is more likely to be bothered by it from a distance in comparison to everyone else who is only disturbed if it’s played RIGHT THERE in front of them)

-There was literally an Entire episode about him getting distracted and procrastinating doing a chore (The Pilot Fish episode WHICH ENDS WITH PESO OFFERING TO HELP HIM NEXT TIME IN A REALLY SWEET EXCHANGE 🥺😭💕‼️‼️)

AND THATS AS MANY AS I COULD GET DOWN WITHOUT GIVING MYSELF A HEADACHE HAHA,, I would LOVE to hear ur thoughts, opinions, and ESPECIALLY your nd Kwazii/Octonauts headcanons in reblog, comments, and in my ask box!!!!
