So, if I remember correctly, the sword of the creator was placed in a coffin of sorts? To me that doesn’t make sense. Was it explained why, and not placed elsewhere? It’s a weapon, an alive weapon no less. Or was it because it’s known it’s made from Sothis’ spine and they wanted it to be in “rest mode”?

it leads to another question: where would Rhea and Seteth put Sothis’ weapons? Her whip and her bow and arrows? Someplace hidden for safe keeping? A more visible place so others can look at her weapons? Because obviously they weren’t destroyed though since So was in Tartarus and her magic didn’t fully reach thr middle lands, her weapons would slowly wilt like any other plantlife until her return to which they’d be restored to their full flowery potential.

hey LJ i have a question that i feel you might be able to help me with (if you'd like to answer ofc, no pressure) - i see a lot of "both candidates are bad, they will both commit atrocities so you shouldn't vote for either" and i get this in some ways, but i also see a lot of posts how there is no "harm reduction" or that it doesn't matter and this is where i get kind of lost. if candidate 'A' AND candidate 'B' are both going to harm groups 'x' 'y' and 'z', but candidate 'A' wants to also harm group 'm' and candidate 'B' does not, wouldn't it make sense to vote for candidate 'B'? or is this simply too utilitarian of me, or perhaps an oversimplification? (mostly i'm worried about Project 2025, which sounds very scary and worries me a lot as a usamerican, im not trying to minimize the damage either candidate would do, i'd rather neither of these totally hypothetical candidates be elected, but it seems likely that one of them will be)

Once again, we haven't yet even had a primary so 'which of these two as-yet-undecided opponents do we vote for' is jumping the gun...or reflective of how little faith people have in the presidential electoral system to allow people to choose someone outside the narrow party system, in which case, you're almost there.

Project 2025 is the "plan to reshape America" (into what it already is) spearheaded by The Heritage Foundation. For the uninitiated, THF is one of the largest if not the largest coalitions of far-right interests. They initially thought Trump was a big fucking clown, and refused to endorse him, then when he got elected in 2016 they thought he could potentially be a useful idiot, at least way more likely to support their cause than Clinton. Now with the 2024 election, they haven't officially endorsed anyone, but it seems to everyone that Trump would be their man for the plan.

Project 2025 is...well, disgusting and concerning, but the questions remain: Would Trump follow up on these if elected? Will he even be able to run? Would Ron DeSantis follow up on these? Would Biden combat these policies?

A number of the proposals are directly in opposition to Trump's ego, particularly with the focus of emboldening the FBI. A number of the members of THF's board are also not on good terms with Trump--whether that will hamper their ability to negotiate or his is unclear.

Trump currently can run for office but if convicted he cannot actually serve. The weasel has been successful at dodging accountability in the past, so who fucking knows if anything will actually stick.

David Dewhirst, Ron DeSantis' advisor has recently joined Project 2025 as an advisor, which doesn't sound promising. In all the hubbub forever and always about Trump, the DNC hasn't paid much attention to the risks DeSantis poses, as frankly he's a much more concerning opponent than Trump. What the DNC has done is respond smugly to DeSantis's run, insisting yeah he should run so he can further embarrass himself. (Hm, sounds like what they said in 2016 about Trump...). A lot of the DNC's critique of DeSantis is hypocritical when it comes to financial matters. They rightfully dunk on him for taking money and aid from constituents to fund corporations, but someone please fill me in again on how many Dems do the same? With one of the worst offenders being senator Joe Manchin of WV, the DNC's little "rogue", or the side-swapping governor of the same state Jim Justice.

So then we have to wonder, okay, if Biden is reelected, does that mean Project 2025 won't happen? Project 2025, while a genuine threat, is the exact boogeyman tactic the DNC delights in. This quote put it well: "Forget Trump. Project 2025 is the greatest threat to democracy we have seen in our country’s history." Every election is 'the most important election ever' as we are facing the newest 'greatest threat to democracy' and so you have to give your money to the dems to stop them. And then they don't.

I remember when Sarah Palin was going to be the cause of the 2012 End Times and goodbye democracy. But doomed democracy is always the carrot at the end of the stick urging you to vote in the Most Important Election Ever.

What do the dems in office to to insulate against these threats? Fuck all. One of the biggest fiascos with the carrot approach has been over Roe v. Wade. Dems had the opportunity to replace RBG with someone young who would weigh in on important issues for decades to come, and they didn't. Then her death allowed Republicans to replace her and overturn Roe v. Wade, one of the biggest carrots the dems have been dangling for decades! "Keep us in office to keep Roe v. Wade!" they said. Now look.

People are rightfully worried about the oil lobby influence in Project 2025, I'm worried about Biden's oil lobby interests. He has fast-tracked the Mountain Valley Pipeline (x2) in Appalachia after squeezing it into the debt ceiling talks and clearing addition obstacles which has emboldened the courts to decline halts to the project, he approved oil drilling in Alaska, and Biden has generally been invested in oil even more than Trump was, issuing more permits for drilling than Trump, and apparently now setting records for oil production.

There are plenty of other posts that tear into Biden way more in depth than I will right now, dealing with his horrific immigration policy, his debacle with student loans, his failure to make good on any drug decriminalization, his spending more on law enforcement and mass surveillance than Trump, the list goes on, without even touching his current atrocities in his support for Israel.

So what is to be done? I told the other anon about publicly witholding your vote until Biden meets literally any demands, making it known to his campaign team/doorknockers/pollworkers that this is your stance. If your vote is really important as they say, then leverage it.

Here is a great piece about Voting As Harm Reduction that dives into the issue with that sentiment better than I can.

The thing is ultimately while the Project 2025 blueprint is newly published, nothing in it is new strategy, it's just THF's strategy for the last 40 years packaged into one place. Yes, it is scary, but it is neither a guarantee to all happen under Trump nor an assurance that it won't happen under Biden.

The best insulation against any presidential bullshittery is, as always, grassroots organizing. Connect with orgs working to make abortion accessible, connect with groups working to make your place a sanctuary city, connect with groups insulating your local communities, and support those involved in direct action.

Under Biden's presidency, police are building an expensive and elaborate training ground for police in Atlanta, Georgia. This project has been referred to as Cop City. It is being protested, and resistance has been met with extreme brutality and harsh legal punishment. The land is being destroyed for this, making it a climate and indigenous issue; an indigenous protester was murdered by police over it, making it a police brutality and indigenous issue; Biden has been dumping money into law enforcement training; and this area is grounds for new repression tactics in the US.

It is crucial to build insulation to presidencies so that no matter who is president, local communities can resist disgusting policies and protect our people.

We can talk ourselves in circles and I won't tell you who to vote for or which president will fix these issues because I do not think any of them will, and each one will make individual bad situations worse.

I frankly do not care if you vote for Biden and if that vote makes you feel a bit more secure in your impending fears--the vote shouldn't be all you do.

And for what it's worth, I did not vote for Biden in 2020, so factor that into your analysis for how you see my advice in your decision.

It's Back- Zelda on Heroforge PART SEVEN: The Classics

I am going to go ahead and put this here: TW for blood

I may ramble a little bit so it's going to be under a break :) And as always, click for best quality :)

Genesis- The Hyrule Fantasy: Okay, so part of the reason this was on hiatus for so long was because I could not figure out his design. Obviously, very few of my Heroforge designs are exact replicas of how the characters look in my brain and in my hand-drawn art, but man, Genesis here was something else. But after my long break, and with a little fanagling, I am... actually kinda proud of it! He's only 10 in The Hyrule Fantasy, and I tried to mirror that in his pose, with the look of quiet terror on his face and his not knowing how to hold a sword. I kinda imagined he was in the middle or end of a dungeon, perhaps facing off the boss (which explains the bruises and the bloody nose). Also, note the bottles and backpack and the Recorder! I liked being able to add on all of his stuff >:)

Genesis- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link: This is the Genesis that I accidentally made too handsome 😅 (Only later did I realize that it might be because he kinda looks like Anakin Skywalker. This is what happens when you have two hyperfixations at once, kids.) ANYWAY. He's grown up since the events of THF- it's been 6 years, after all- and now is a much more experienced fighter, so his look of fear has been replaced with frustrated determination, and he now knows how to hold a sword. His outfit has also changed a bit, since he now works in and lives at the castle. Also, he is supposed to be wielding the Magic Sword, and he has less stuff because this game is more focused on magic, so he has a bunch of magic objects in his backpack.

Dawn- The Hyrule Fantasy: Dawn I struggled with because, while her physical appearance is practically perfect, Heroforge doesn't really provide many options to accomodate her big fluffy dress, to say nothing of my WAYYY overcomplicated fanon design for it 😅 But overall, I think I'm okay with how it came out. So. My ✨vision✨ for this was at the end of the game, after Ganon has been defeated and Genesis stumbles into her dungeon for the first time. So her dress is dirt-stained, and she herself isn't in the best condition. And she has this look of genuine shock and surprise on her face, because I think she was starting to give up on hope. You may ask: well if she was a hostage, why doesn't she have shackles? And my answer is that I simply didn't think of it until now :/ Oh well :)

Dawn- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link: She doesn't canonically appear in game, but obviously she's still very much a part of the world, and I like seeing how she's grown up since the events of THF. I think her time in Ganon's prison has definitely scarred her, but she's learning how to heal and is doing so very well, being a gentle and very kind woman and a strong, compassionate ruler. I like her dress even less than the previous, but that's just because it's not up to the standard of my drawings. Also, loyal friends will acknowledge her teacup and the headcanons behind it.

Ganon: This Ganon is actually a direct copy of his design in A Link to the Past (which I'm linking below), except that he no longer bears any of the grandeur of his previous designs or any connection to his Gerudo roots, because he's completely lost his mind. I tried to convey this through his posture and pose. And I actually kind of ended up feeling really bad for him as I designed him, so... take that as you will T^T

Impa: Okay to be honest. I really have nothing much to say about this incarnation of Impa. I was barely able to cram any Sheikah imagery in there and I just, overall, don't care for this design. Having said that, I find her characterization, on the other hand, to be so interesting. I think she and Dawn are very close, and that Impa practically raised her, and worried so so much about her during her imprisonment. And now, I'd like to think she acts as a beloved mentor to both Dawn and Genesis, helping Dawn rule responsibly and making sure Genesis is successful as a swordsman and as a protector and boyfriend good friend to Dawn.

Somnia (Princess Zelda I): Okay, I'm going to be honest. I'm not completely in love with how she turned out. But I suppose I did all I could for her. Again, it's just that it's not how she looks in my head. But anyway. I tried to make her look how she would when she's asleep, because I didn't feel like posing her crazily 😅

The Prince and the Wizard: Full Disclosure- I think this one is my favorite. I love how Somnia's brother turned out (I tried to make him look older than he is in the official art; my logic is that if he inherited the throne instead of Somnia it must be because he's the older sibling, because it's not like their father didn't trust her to rule since he told her the location of the Triforce). And I think the "wizard" turned out creepy enough- I say wizard in quotations because if you look in the official art, he seems to be made of the Prince's shadow, and I think he was perhaps a minion of Ganon's or even, like Aghanim, a projection of Ganon himself.

Zelink: If you've been around my blog long enough, you'll know about Genesis's love of tea. So naturally, that's what I had to incorporate into this one. I like to think they have tea together every morning :) Note their matching teacups :) AUGH I am so proud of this one :)

Zelink 2: Okay disclaimer. My heart is set on the previous Zelink in regards to the Classics. But this scene is so iconic that I am legally obligated to include it. So. You get two. Pick your favorite. (If you have questions about this please don't be afraid to ask, I'm sure I'll be much more eloquent when answering 😅)

Hello, I apologise for the delay on this response; recently many Real Life things have happened in quick succession, I'm sure you understand.

My answer for this has a few pieces: first being, I never considered keeping this blog to be a form of re-posting. I certainly don't think I've ever claimed these works as my own, though I'm happy to make that more obvious in the future if so needed. Along with that I rarely include a full work on this page, only a few introductory paragraphs before a redirect link (off the top of my head I do think I have just-the-fics-maam's one-shot "Welcome Home" posted on the old blog, which I'll come back to).

Second, I have in the past made efforts to contact authors prior to posting a story here. I will admit I have not done so with EVERY work and I will make that a more routine practice. But what course should I take if I never receive a response? Many of the works I include (and plan to include) here are at least five years old. Some authors are no longer active on Tumblr, and I try to notate and link accurately as possible for whoever might visit this page. Additionally, there are works hosted on AO3 (or elsewhere) that may not have a corresponding post on Tumblr to reblog, or may not be linked to a Tumblr at all.

Third, and I want to be clear that I don't mean to sound combative, but I don't have much time to spend scrolling blogs anymore and I may just be old and out of touch and unaware of Best Practices at this point? I have been happy to see the increase in authors posting full works and chapters to Tumblr, which had fallen out of fashion in years past, and I’d agree that it’s vital that recognition for an author’s work should be funnelled to the author. However, If an author no longer wishes to be associated with a past work, would it be disrespectful for readers to share it around with the author’s info redacted? If a work is posted exclusively on Tumblr, do readers have a right to copy the text into their own word processors, for their personal reading, for easier reading or in anticipation of the blog being abruptly deleted? I’ve been around long enough to see such things happen. 

Honestly, there are a few works that have been lost to deletion that I almost wish I WOULD have somehow archived in full - If anyone has a copy of "I Love To Hate You" or "Within the Walls of Westminster" by wildlubricatedrobot or the 'Bluebirds' one-shot "Reconciled" by sweetoceancloud PLEASE let me know - and for that reason I did on one occasion put the entire "Welcome Home" text on my blog, so I would continue to have access to that work.

I regret leaving my theme to languish, I think my Intro/Info post (link here), where I try to make plain my intentions, may have been made inaccessible by my inaction and for that I apologise. I started this as a makeshift repository for works I personally enjoyed reading, with the understood possibility that other people might also enjoy them or had been trying to find old favourites. I know searching for a work via tags or body text on AO3 can be incredibly difficult especially if the work is behind the consent checkpoint. 

I want to be on the right side of this, even if it means adjusting my practices, I want to act responsibly within the ethics of creative ownership of fanworks. I'm very familiar with the incidents of malicious re-posting, and I've personally removed access to works at authors' request while acting as an admin on the THF blog.  At the same time I want to sincerely engage with the idea of appropriate preservation and documentation, especially for private/non-commercial enjoyment.

If you are (or know) an author that would rather I not direct readers to a work in my current method please let me know and I will rectify that quickly. On the other hand, this question has raised many questions of my own and I wonder what, if any, general standards exist at this point or if it would vary by author. I'd love to hear perspectives on this if anyone feels comfortable offering theirs. I can't spend more time on this ask currently, but I appreciate hearing from you. b|x

Oh man, what a fun question/trip down memory lane!

A friend got me into Drarry when we were whole ass children. This had to have been around 2005/2006. She was deep in the Inuyasha fandom but also loved Drarry. She would go on and on about Drarry because she knew I loved the books and was part of the school's HP club, and silly me, I would be like, nah…I’m good with just the books, thanks. Then one day during our library period she showed me (I’m pretty sure) the Hex Files and Livejournal websites, and I don’t know, I browsed and I was like, okay, I'll give this a go. Obviously, we had no business being on those websites that young, and this was before the school or my parents took precautions to monitor certain sites (even when I got to high school Fanfiction.net, THF, Livejournal, Xanga weren't restricted). We were very strange kids though, very queer, very into Wicca, British royalty, and lots and lots of Morrissey, all before the age of 11. We ruled the playgrounds and would sneak out our bedroom windows to run wild in our neighbourhood streets in the middle of the night, haha. I can’t exactly recall the first Drarry I read. It may have been Emma Grant’s Left My Heart. I read Drarry on and off up until the end of high school. Then revisited Drarry back in 2017, and by 2018 wrote my first Drarry.
