Bags of fun ... Soooo ... it’s half term and I got to have another fabulously creative session with a lovely young lady who was once again in the area visiting her nanny. This creative 11 year old was gifted her first sewing machine for Xmas by her very clever mummy and so has already started to enjoy her sewing at home. She arrived at the TheadShed with a head full of ideas and said that she had been thinking of making a denim shoulder bag with a seaside theme. We were soon busy planning and hunting through fabric. We cut out some perfect beachy images from white vinyl, picked a navy anchor fabric for the strap and finished it all off with a beautiful true vintage shell button. I was very impressed - this creative miss transformed her lovely idea into a really cute bag in just a couple of creative hours. What a brilliant day I had helping a holidaymaker find her sewing mojo. The lovely holidaymaker had done some basic sewing in the past but really wanted to get back to it. She booked in at The ThreadShed during a week stay nearby. I was very impressed as truly her sewing was sooooo damn neat and tidy. She picked bright and beautiful bunny fabric too and honestly when finished her skirt looked completely fabulous and fitted her beautifully.
I just love to see the finished items leave The ThreadShed and truly the half circle skirt was simply FAB-U-LOUS ❤️
I had such a good time I need to do more really soon ... who would like to book in with me?

One of the things I just love about getting 'arty farty' to design your own T-shirt is that each and every T-shirt leaving the ThreadShed is utterly unique and personal to the visiting designer. Holidaymakers come to me with a headful of ideas and together we play with online images, and use the Silhouette software, to turn their raw ideas into great T-shirt designs.
This week a father and son team turned their back on simple stock images and instead drew their own images. Each individual drawing represented an activity during their holiday in glorious Pembrokeshire. There were drawings of their Airbnb jet plane accommodation (complete with a PlayStation in the cockpit), a fun game of football golf, a kayaking adventure through caves, and of course a visit to The ThreadShed, and all were were drawn by the super bright and creative 7 year old holidaymaker and his Dad. The images came straight out of his imagination and a stack of coloured pencils.

Sewing Away ... Sometimes a Mummy on her holiday in Wales comes to The ThreadShed to enjoy a little quiet sewing time. This week a lovely Mummy devoted some peaceful hours to learning to sew, whilst Dad took two adorable children to Pembroke Castle for some half term adventures. The day before the Mummy messaged me "I am a complete novice - I apologise in advance!" Yet, on the day of the "arty Farty sew your own skirt experience" she sewed confidently, neatly and deftly, and in around 3.75 hours (almost setting an experience record) her gorgeous summery skirt, in a white cotton fabric with teeny coloured polka dots, was all finished.
My peaceful little ThreadShed, situated just 0.2 miles from stunning Freshwater East Bay, is the perfect space for busy mummies (or daddies) to learn something new in a calm, quiet, cosy (very pink) environment.
