If season 6 of The Handmaid's Tale isn't Osblaine and Janine wrecking shit and burning down Gilead together, I don't want it.

Not to be completely unhinged in this post rn but while I cannot lie about liking some aspects of omegaverse shit I've never been able to really enjoy the full on "omegaverse" because of the weirdly manufactured like. Oppression??? Like the sociostructual aspects of it make me so uncomfortable lmfao. I have to experience and bear witness to so much casual oppression and discrimination based on non-controllable factors in my daily life and it makes me so upset and exhausted enough, I don't wanna see it IN MY PORN?????
Why can't I just read about men fucking sloppy and getting pregnant and mating for life and shit without having to think about one of them getting. Denied job opportunities lmfao. I went more in detail in the tags I'm just. Oof.

I don't mean to constantly compare June/Nick/Luke to Katniss/Peeta/Gale but oh... the similarities...

I feel like we don't talk enough about the fact that the creators of The Handmaid's Tale chose Elizabeth Moss as the main character. A woman who is a part of a cult with a DOCUMENTED AND PROVEN HISTORY of child abuse, sexual assault and rape, assault and battery, negligence, manslaughter, elder abuse, physical and mental torture, INFILTRATING THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, money laundering, tax evasion, tampering with evidence, stalking and harassment, and so much fucking more.
Like, they did that. They cast a woman who is already in a brainwashing cult to star as a woman held captive in a cult of personality and dictatorship.
I know people talk about it and did while the show was actively running, but I feel like Elizabeth Moss really got away with making money off of a television show depicting the same type of abuses as the "religion" she is willingly a part of.

As a note to that last post: my state, once super red, and a swing state as recently as 15 years ago, is now so blue that the last Republican to hold any kind of significant statewide office (which was uh, the at-large regent on the state university board of governors) lost it in 2022. Not coincidentally, we now have constitutionally protected abortion rights, are a safe haven state in a conservative region, legal weed, explicit LGBT protections with a raft of more laws planned in this legislative session, etc. Etc.
Vote for Democrats 2kalways.

“You built this whole world so you could have SOMETHING and it didn’t work…”//“You seek not to free yourself but to create a window into the wall of your prison”
I made an edit because one day I’ll probably write a PhD thesis length analysis of the parallels between Serena Joy and Alicent and how Alicent could’ve been both an iconic sympathetic villain and a blueprint for female antagonist to rival even Serena if the show wasn’t so obsessed with justifying her

Actually, one of my takeaways from The Handmaid's Tale? Women will oppress women as much as (if not more than) men do, if/when given the chance.
