So I have once again chosen to obtain this Series Pass reward through Frontlines, and I have some more thoughts on the matter!

tl;dr: The issues that existed before have only been made worse this time around, largely due to huge groups of players that game the system and openly mock others for not doing it.

I have some thoughts on “precons” and a postmortem on the whole situation, and will talk more about it through the cut!

Just as a disclaimer, I’m also vividly aware that Frontlines (FL) is one of the most side pieces of side content imaginable in this game; even I only really engage in PvP for FOMO rewards (which bothers me, but that’s a whole other thing), but my main focus is generally the story and raiding. So all of this primarily bothers me as a community issue as well as a game design issue.

Anyhow! So this pass contains the third armour set glamour since the PvP overhaul, Crystalline Conflict (CC), and Series Pass launched. I’ve once again avoided doing CC for it because of my poor experiences with it in the past (see previous post if you’re curious!), but I only do the Series Pass if there’s an armour or emote reward.

Since last time, here are the changes:

The Pros:

- A daily Series XP boost means that it’s now more feasible to get through it with FL only, and not having to grind CC if you’re not in a rush

The Cons:

- Pretty much everything else

So one big “phenomenon” this time that people have brought up elsewhere, are “precons”; groups of people who queue together, both within the 4 person per party limit…and then some. They coordinate in a linkshell or Discord, queue with enough people to fill multiple full parties (up to a full faction at times), and they have set roles of the most frustrating combos that SQEX hasn’t patched out yet (DRK + DRG + SMN are their bread and butter).

This was always a thing since the PvP overhaul and has never been addressed, but it’s only gotten worse. A single “precon”? Well, usually it’s feasible to deal with; I’ve seen them try very hard but still lose. The current trend of “precons” where it means multiple parties of people queuing at the same time, enough for a whole faction or at least close? Well…throw in more than one precon into a faction and it becomes exponentially more difficult to deal with for each one.

As of the last season pass, I noticed a large group of people gathering to run FL together, and I saw them queue back to back all day, daily or at least on Seal Rock days. I assumed this was to get the Seal Rock coat glamour, and I assumed correctly as a large number of them did obtain it after that and left. The fact that Seal Rock has a notoriously difficult 100 win requirement, and SQEX gave people the opportunity to play in the most irritating and broken way possible pretty much goes hand in hand.

In part, I would also blame SQEX for not altering the achievement in some way or even changing the reward structure as it not only incentivizes but rewards this kind of behaviour. In any case, I didn’t play much of last pass so I paid them little mind, and I consider the Seal Rock coat out of my means to obtain anyhow.

However, as of this pass, the “precons” are still running daily, and are now present in every format other than Seal Rock too. The idea is pretty simple; get a group of people together in a community who can coordinate their DRK/DRG/SMN (and AST/RPR/DNC if you want to get fancy) LBs and movements, and you can easily steamroll the other factions, get an easy win. Everyone (cough) has fun, you get the maximum payout of XP/points/whatever. It sounds pretty innocuous and everyone moves on with their day, for better or for worse. Right?

Well, it’s unfortunately grown a bit beyond that at this point. Even if it began as a group of people who gathered together to make getting the Seal Rock coat "easy", it’s become a group of people who exploit the system and then openly mock the people who complain about them; an exercise in punching down on people who aren’t in the clique and sabotaging people who aren’t in on it. Making people miserable has grown beyond just steamrolling them in FL, and occasionally include arguments and mockery.

Essentially, what goes on is:

- The group gathers on a specific DC; locals, Wanderers, and even Travellers, and they queue at the same time. I’ve seen up to 24 and beyond queuing at the same time, enough for a full faction and then some

- They gather in multiple parties of 4 (the current maximum per party) and queue at the same time to get matched in the same game

- If they don’t get into the main group/faction, they intentionally feed the biggest one; I’ve witnessed multiple cases of people just running into combat and not hitting a single skill, repeatedly, just to feed kills and Battle High for an entire match

- The group with the most people will follow one of the group’s shot callers and use their DRK/DRG/SMN LB exploit, with multiple of each back to back to make it impossible to shut them down effectively, since control abilities don’t work that way and are easily cancelled out

- They steamroll the other factions and win with a huge lead because no one else has nearly two dozen people coordinated in that manner, and are just in randomly assigned groups and playing other classes

- Then they gather and queue again; and if they’re called out on it, they begin to mock and argue with the people who called them out, quoting inane things like the “spirit of the solo queue” to imitate people who aren’t in their group, while ridiculing people for losing or not playing DRK/DRG/SMN like they do.

It’s awful. I don’t care about PvP as I only really do it out of FOMO on the rewards so my engagement is not for personal enjoyment—but it’s beyond a chore when a large group of people have fostered a community that’s actively gaming a system SQEX has failed to balance and then openly encouraging unmitigated contempt within their group towards people who aren’t in with them. I love this game, so it especially hurts to see it happen, when the rest of the community has been great.

> Can anything be done about this? Well, probably not unless matchmaking is adjusted, or instances are intentionally staggered for people who queue in the same window, or SQEX finally decides to adjust FL separately from CC. The only times I had matches that were at least somewhat more fair, was when I queued intentionally when these people were not around.

A similar issue existed years ago when PvP used to be based on your Grand Company; Maelstrom was the go-to for PvP, and if you were not in Maelstrom you would essentially expect to lose. Then they made the Freelancer system (joining a random faction when queuing) and it almost dissolved that aspect of it. But even back then, there weren’t unbalanced combos that exist now where you can annihilate an entire faction with your light party in 4 seconds. In addition, the group I witnessed doing it is a mix of people from other data centres. Freedom to queue for PvP wherever you’re visiting has also enabled this kind of behaviour.

The most baffling thing is; there are no leaderboards. It’s not a competitive thing where you get ranked (unlike CC), and by now they have cleared the Series Pass and then some—so I can only assume the group does it for their ego and the joy of ridiculing others, and it’s really so disappointing to see and experience.

Unlike last time when I wrote about the Series Pass, I have no solutions to propose beyond the typical “DRK/DRG/SMN/AST need to be re-balanced”, and FL as a whole needs to be re-balanced separately from competitive CC. “Precons” in general make the experience awful for everyone who isn’t in one, and the even larger ones are just miserable.

And if you’re reading this and my description of that large group sounds like you, I’m sorry you’ve become this way and that this is somehow a point of pride for you. I hope you can find some other way to be have fun that doesn’t involve ruining others’ experiences.

tl;dr: FOMO continues to make people feel like they need to do PvP, and extra large "precons" are ruining the experience for everyone due to a drastic imbalance in specific class combos such as DRK/DRG/SMN/AST, some even going as far as mocking people in public chats.

I'm sorry, but HOW do you post every day. I manage a different side blog that posts twice a day, but by now, they're mainly shitposts just to get content out while I stress over school. How do you come up with so many prompts???

Hi! Thank you so so much for sending an ask, and I especially love this question because I actually have an answer for it. I get to ramble about my thesis!!! The answer will be unnecessarily long and undoubtedly will go off on tangents. I’m so sorry. You’ve been warned.

The short answer is that I really like philosophy and that I post whatever comes to mind. The long answer will be below the cutoff, it is long lol

There’s a decent amount of people following my blog who do not know anything about me, so for those people, nice to meet you! Welcome to a peak behind the curtains! I go by Brit or Ae. I’ve been in fandom spaces for a little under a decade, and I’m studying to be a philosophy professor.

Seeing as I am studying philosophy, I’ve had to develop my own worldview and ideas about humanity pretty extensively. I am currently working on my thesis, writing about my theory of universal passion.

By universal passion, I mean that every person has the ability to be passionate about any given object, concept, being, you name it. Any person can be passionate about (or, have a vested interest in) any given thing, if put in the right circumstance.

By anything, I mean anything. A molecule of dust. A fallen leaf. Broken pencil lead. Any person could be emotionally attached to any matter or concept with which they come into context, however small, in the right circumstance.

Imagine a pinboard, like the detectives have in cheesy TV shows, except every single person on earth is represented by a pin on the left, and every item or concept is represented by a pin on the right. Now, we’ve got our basic strings of connection, formed by canon. Peter Parker, on the left, is connected to his Spider-Suit, on the right. Let’s imagine a string connecting Peter’s pin to the pin of his suit.

I theorize that there is also potential for string to connect Peter’s pin to, let’s say, the coffee mug in the background of one scene in AoU. And to Bucky’s left shoe. and to the railing on top of Stark Tower. It’s just up to us to figure out exactly how those strings could form, how those connections could be made.

It’s up to us to decide the circumstance that could, in theory (or in fanfic lol) tie a person to an object, even if they never come into contact.

That is my theory of universal passion. (i’m still working on wording it, obviously lol)

Now, for how that relates to my blog.

Fun fact: I have never queued a post, ever. I don’t even know how. I post in real time, mostly because I’m too lazy to learn how queueing works.

Almost all of my posts are created because I think of a concept (usually something in my vicinity) and try to think of a circumstance in which a character (lets be real, usually Peter or Tony) would be passionate about that concept. I apply my theory of universal passion, finding a way to tie string from the character to the concept.

For each thing you interact with (and everyone interacts with SOMETHING every day, even if that thing is just the floor), a new prompt can be made. All it takes is imagination, to come up with a situation in which the character would care very deeply about that item or concept.

You’ve got to imagine the string. You have to trust it is there, and find where it exists. It is there. Believe me. Every character can be connected to every item, you just have to put them in a circumstance where they care about it.

The tour guide post, about Tony occasionally becoming a tour guide when bored, was written while I was on a tour. I was curious how I could make the topic of “tour guides” relate to irondad. The post from a while ago about Peter trying to create the perfect playlist for lab nights was written while I tried to make the perfect playlist for a long car ride with friends. I just found a way to make the characters care about the topic of “playlists”. I post every day because I consider the objects/concepts I am interacting with and I come up with ways the characters would interact with them.

It sounds ridiculous, that even a single molecule of air can be of interest to someone, but how could you manipulate the circumstance to make it important? I’m planning on writing my thesis on universal passion, how every single thing in the world is worth caring very, very much for, but only if a person is put in the proper circumstances in which that thing builds off their previous experience to spark passion.

hello friends!

you can call me bee! i’m an artist, aspiring animator, and massive fangirl! i’m pretty new to tumblr, so i’m still figuring out how things work, but i love making new friends, so feel free to leave a message!

i have Very Many interests and fandoms—way too many to remember, let alone list. as of writing this my current hyperfixations are the owl house, genshin, and deltarune, but they’re constantly changing. i love the fantasy genre, animated content, and mascot horror games (although i’ve never actually played one), and some of my more specific interests are the dragon prince, d&d, omori, welcome home, fnaf, mlp, pokemon, and pretty much anything disney!

i love to draw! i mainly draw digitally using procreate, and my work is a mixture of fanart and oc art. i have a lot of ocs—i think my last count was somewhere around 120? they’re all my children and I love them very much, but not all of them have actual stories. i’ll do my best to introduce each of them the first time I post them! maybe i’ll make a tag specifically for introductions?

i have adhd and often struggle to discern tones/intentions over text, so please use tone indicators whenever possible! i love good-natured teasing and sarcasm—it’s just difficult for me to pick up on.

i love getting to ramble about my interests, as well as hearing about everyone else’s! absolutely feel free to send asks or dms—i’m super open to making friends of all kinds! :D

So, this is gonna lose me followers. I’ve already lost some, but I’m gonna tell my truth now.

I’ve been quiet about what’s been happening this weekend because this weekend is a difficult one for me to get through in general. Mother’s Day is hard for me for several reasons, but I’ve been focusing on myself because I didn’t want to get myself into a bad spot mentally. I think most of you know that I’ve had a very, very rough year and I wasn’t emotionally available for what I knew was likely to happen. That is why I remained quiet. For my mental health.

But I’m here to share that I too have had my own stories. My own worries. My own concerns. I would like to add that I did talk to @anna-phora - and gave some of my details to them. I wasn’t ready yesterday.

I hope I’m ready now. Because here goes.

Up until they unfollowed me, I had considered them a friend. I had sheltered them in the past and I couldn’t find a good way to stop, because I had already offered them comfort. I don’t enjoy backstabbing people. I was hoping that with a little nudging, they could be guided in the right direction. So please know that what I’m writing, is VERY HARD for me.

I first met Maddie through ocappreciation. As an admin there, I was the one who ended up doing most of the queuing. (And still try to.) That is where I first ran into the stealing issues.

I believe the first one I noticed was Adrien Argent. I knew I had a friend, who already had a TW OC, with a FC of Matthew Daddario, named Adrian Argent. I’ll confess at first, I thought it was the same OC. Back then, I tended to bulk queue once a week and I was just trying to get posts in the queue and didn’t much bother to look at the user’s name.

Then someone brought it to ocapp’s attention. I was conflicted, as was the staff at ocapp. We could see both sides. I especially could be both sides, because as someone who had been writing OC fics before - I had been accused of stealing. People accused me of stealing from a HP fic even though the end date on my fic was before their start date. But because someone else’s was more popular - I got targeted. I knew what it was like to be on the other side.

Also early on in my days in the community, I found out that despite not knowing each other nor having crossed paths with @twofacedharveydent that we both had Superntural OCs where the OC was a Winchester sister, nicknamed Elle, both were paired with Cas, both had a connection with angels, and if recall correctly both had Lyndsy Fonseca as a faceclaim. We had a good laugh over it - because when it came down to our written work - our stories were different. We were able to be friends.

I will confess that this has likely skewed my outlook a bit, because I would never intentionally copy off anybody. For me personally, they were always happy little accidents. I think because I had been falsely accused, I wanted to be quick to defend others who might be falsely accused.

. . . back to ocapp. What we decided to do, as a group, was let those authors sort things out. But we (meaning me) were very careful not to reblog anymore Adrien Argent posts. Even this year, I still wouldn’t add them to ocappreciation.

Then came the Riverdale craze. Suddenly there were OCs that appeared to be quite similar. Don’t get me wrong, back then it was hard to find a red-headed female to be an Andrews sister that didn’t overlap. But as a community, I felt that most of us still tried to keep things different enough. Like if we used the same faceclaim, then we made sure our OCs had different personalities and such. Well . . most of us.

Again, being admin at ocapp, I could see similar OCs popping up. But as admins we made a stance of trying to let the creators figure out their stuff out. From all the evidence shown, clearly that didn’t work out.

That being said, there are some cases of their OCs where I haven’t felt completely comfortable with. But I think with me, being a “popular” blog, they knew to twist them just enough - but it was still obvious to me (and some others who brought it to my attention) where the inspiration had come from, because my OCs were usually first. There were a lot of times when I created an OC and then they would. I wasn’t sure whether to feel flattered they wanted to join me or used. It was all very conflicting.

Anastasia Andrews - That OC came out not too long after my Annabelle. They had a lot of similarities. Both were an Andrews sister. Both were crushing on Jughead and depended on him when Archie was in his stuff in the beginning of the show. While Annabelle wrote in a journal her feelings, Anastasia took photographs. While Annabelle was once in gymnastics, but had no team at school, Anastasia was a dancer. Both problems were solved with the River Vixens. Again - I tried to brush it off as concidence, but others noticed and I had no solid response. Because I was used to having my literal writing stolen.

Elle Winchester - Maddie did ask for the blessing to use the nickname Elle. I had no copyright over a nickname, so I said go for it. The more the merrier. But I always felt a little anxiety whenever I’d see the edits for graphics roll out. My Elle Winchester is one of my more popular OCs I’ve ever written. Again, I tried to be supportive and put on a brave face

Cassia Potter - This one was brought to my attention by several of my followers how they seemed to be a mix of others OCs with my Leila. I’ll confess that I felt that way a bit too - so I usually never ended up putting content for them on my blog, unless it was a chapter update. I tried to make that concession.

Helena Jackson - appeared after my Ophelia. Someone brought it up to me and I brushed it off.

Honestly, this all of this is a HUGE part of the reason I stopped writing for many fandoms that Maddie was in. If I wrote for another fandom, they weren’t active in, I was safer.

I’m sure there are others and more takes, but my brain is already exhausted - because Mother’s Day is hard for me.

I knew that Maddie was ocfanhub and codenamekryptonite because of ocapp. They had sent us asks saying that we were spelling Wynter’s name wrong. And then later we got an ask asking that all Wynter’s stuff be removed from ocapp. This was the time they made the switch.

To those who were disappointed by my stance on things: I’m sorry. At first I was trying to help a creator who felt picked on. But when the evidence was mounting up, I stopped talking OCs and mostly just talked about real life stuff, because I felt bad about losing them - because I also knew that they probably needed someone. Because the last thing I ever told my mother before she died was “I hate you and I never want to see you again” I never want to burn a bridge with someone.

To Gloria - I don’t know if you’ll see this. But I’m sorry I wasn’t as supportive of you. If you read this at all, I hope you understand that my stance came from being wrongly accused and I wanted to help others - my stance was because for a while, I daily had people coming to me and asking if they could use the same name, or faceclaim, or plot lines that are inevitable in certain fandoms. It was getting too hard for me to deal with having all those asks, so I made my post - when we seemed to have had our falling out. It was never my intent to hurt you. I was just under a lot of stress and I thought a post would help others. I never meant for it to hurt you. It was meant to help others from being so scared.

I’m sorry for not doing more to help others or help nudge Maddie further. I apologize for my part in the drama. Please know that it wasn’t intentional. It was coming from a sincere part of my heart, as is this message.

Please know that I am here to create for fun and make awesome friends who can support one another. I personally thought I had that with Maddie, but clearly I was wrong.

All I ever wanted was for Maddie to apologize and own up to what they’d done. Or hope that they’d manage to find a compromise with the other creators. As a teacher, that’s what I teach my students and that was what I was hoping for from Maddie. I still want that. I think they’re a wonderful creator and hope that one day they’ll stop burning all these bridges and find their way back. Please don’t send them hate.

these asks have literally become my daily treat at this point. going to give you my top 3 experiences >:)

1. The 1975 @ Finsbury Park

I mean I feel like this is the very obvious answer considering, y’know, my entire blog, but this event was just so emotional for me that it has to be my number one. everything ran (relatively) perfect for me and my friend and I was so anxious the weeks leading up to it I genuinely thought I was going to sell my ticket — I’d never been to a gig in London on my own before (let alone be in London on my own) and was so worried about travel and safety. I’m so glad I didn’t. the memories I have from that night have been engraved in my brain forever. the crowd that was around me were amazing, my view was amazing, the food and merch (albeit extortionate) were amazing, and the boys were just the best you could possibly ask for. seeing japanese house as well was a major plus. they played some of my favourite songs that I hadn’t heard live before (love me, people, ballad) that the pain of getting out of the park was worth the experience. I’ve had such bad post concert blues from it (cured now that I know the next time I’m going to be seeing them will be at reading!!!) and that was all because of how much the event meant to me. bawled my eyes out!

2. Alter Bridge w/ Halestorm & Mammoth WVH @ Resorts World Arena

this gig will always be so special to me because this was the second gig that I’d been too that wasn’t the closest city to me and was the second gig I ever properly queued for (the first on both occasions being olivia rodrigo). I think I queued for a total of 6 hours (my longest to date) and was number 15 in the whole queue. I hadn’t gone for the headliners (alter bridge), I’d gone specifically to see halestorm and the goddess that is lzzy hale. this was also the gig that introduced me to mammoth wvh who have now become one of my all time favs (very lucky to have seen them again in wembley supporting mötley crüe). this gig was also the first setlist and pick I’d gotten at the gig (I have a matty healy pick, but didn’t get it from the gig itself) — setlist from mammoth’s bassist ronnie ficarro, and a halestorm pick from the woman in-front of me on the barricade who heard me screaming my heart out and gave it to me because she was just there to see alter bridge. I had also had a massive culture shock to how big the arena actually was, and one of the women who I made friends with was an ex firefighter and taught me what to do during a crowd crush! an experience I’ll definitely never forget (also convinced lzzy looked at me at least twice).

3. Isle Of Wight Festival 2023

this was my first proper festival (just a day ticket though) and it honestly was such a good experience we’re planning on doing the whole weekend next year. my friend is a very, very talented photographer who was photographing one of the tents at the festival, so it was amazing being able to hang out with him as we live quite far away from each other. the best act we saw were 110% onerepublic who were just an absolute joy to watch, an amazing performance, and funnily enough an arctic monkeys tribute band at the end of the night when we were all high on adrenaline dancing our hearts out! I will also mentioned the sugababes because I enjoyed them a lot more than I actually thought I would. once again extortionate (but you can’t really do much about that) but the scran was banging and not once did we feel uncomfortable whilst we were on the site the entire time — getting back was also nice and easy! the only downside was having to say goodbye, which is obviously never easy, but we’re hopefully seeing each other again soon and I can’t wait :)

london, fidget, fall out boy

saturday, november 4th, 21:38pm

i’m on the train back from london now! going back home to brighton. i’m currently delayed because of congestion at the next station ahead so that’s really fun and not annoying at all. anyway i thought i would take the time to write my little blog about what i’ve been up to!

i met my friend jen in london waterloo yesterday (like two hours late… standard tobi fashion) and then we went on a little trip to the big selfridges! i also got mcdonald’s because i didn’t eat in the morning. selfridges is basically just a big shop full of designer clothes for tories, but the top floor is a big toy shop. we went to look for the jellycats, jen wanted the cloud and i wanted the skeleton, but they actually didn’t have either. i ended up getting a bat and jen got a burger and a snowman. this is them!!!

i decided to name my bat fidget! i think that it’s pretty cute. i’ve also started an instagram account for him (i’m that guy) it’s @fidget.adventures if anyone wants to follow his journey! so far he’s come everywhere with me!

after we went to selfridges we went to our hotel which was actually super fancy and i just had no idea??? jen was in charge of booking and organising, i just paid however much she told me to. i paid back in january so i guess i forgot that it was right next to the O2 arena. like RIGHT next to. and so posh. insanely posh, we both felt so out of place. it was fun though. we put all our stuff in the room and just chilled out for a bit, then we went to get something to eat but it was a nightmare. jen’s a really picky eater so she didn’t want wagamamas, she wasn’t in the mood for pizza, blah blah blah we went to costa. i know what you’re thinking… “costa? before a concert? when you hadn’t eaten since lunch?” i know. but we did that. i had a brie and cranberry toastie and oh my goooodddd it was so good i loved every single bite. nom.

once we’d eaten we headed over to the merch store where we had to queue for like .. half an hour? 45 minutes maybe? it wasn’t that bad but it was raining and we were queuing outside so it could’ve been better. i ended up getting a fall out boy tshirt, and maybe surprisingly i got merch from one of the opening bands. honestly i’d never heard of them and they weren’t the best but i thought their merch was cool so i bought it! i also put the fall out boy tshirt on over my jumper so i was #prepared for the actual concert.

the queue to get in was short but we were like two hours early because jen tends to freak herself out if she’s not early to stuff, basically the complete opposite of me. i left my passport in the hotel so i couldn’t even get a pint (DEVASTATING). i did get a pepsi max though! we headed into the actual arena as soon as doors opened at 6:30 to find our seats. the opening bands were okay! the first people, nothing,nowhere , are the people who’s merch i got. they did a lot of shouting and “get the fuck up!”s but you could tell the crowd were NOT feeling it. it was also relatively quiet still. the second opening act was PVRIS. she was alright! maybe not my type of music but i can definitely see the appeal. her talking voice is so different to her singing voice too, so it caught me off guard a little bit. but the people seemed to like her more. maybe she’s a little more well known, i have no idea.

then fall out boy came on.

oh my god.

i’ve seen them before, for the MANIA tour in like… 2018 i think? and i loved it then, but i definitely enjoyed last nights show more. i don’t really know anything from the new album, so much for stardust, but imagine my delight when they play their old music. i’m not talking american beauty/american psycho old, or even folie a deux old, but they did play some folie. i’m talking TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE. the debut album. 2003. music older than i am. they played saturday, where is your boy, calm before the storm… ohhhhhg my god i was living my absolute best life. there were songs that jen didn’t even know and i was screaming my little emo heart out.

it was incredible. i’ve missed concerts so much. and jen. i haven’t seen her since summer ended :(

i’m home safe now and feel so weird. my “old” life feels like so long ago… but it’s really a few months. uni is weird like that. i feel like i’ve known some of my uni friends for years.

im gonna write everything down because i need to remember this entire day forever!!

first of all, i’ve already said this but @louis-in-red is literally the loveliest and kindest person and i LOVED sharing this experience with her 🥺 so thankful i got to meet her! definitely wouldn’t have been the same without her

okay so we got campo delantero (ga) but we got there like 2 hours before doors opened kdhdkd i was a little worried there wouldnt be more merch, but i could buy in uruguay if that was the case. but we got there and they still had peach hoodies so we were queuing and we started hearing screams and people started running so obviously we didn’t question it and started running too ksjshsjs

so we got to the main entrance and there he was...... oli 💀 he was wearing a white shirt and sunglasses and oh my..... he is fit! so hot jshsjs and he walks like louis, at first i couldnt see his face because of a tree and i thought it was louis for a moment and almost died 😭 but that was somehow the only moment that felt real during the entire day, i was like HOLY SHIT THATS OLI

so then we got the merch, took some pics, we met @lou1e and talked to her for a few minutes and she’s so nice and sweet 🥺 it was so lovely meeting her ❤️

after a while we went to get some food and went to the bathroom and we were like just gonna wait everyone gets in, so we just sat to wait and the queue never stopped 😭 so we started walking opposite to the queue to join the end and it continued around the corner like it literally never ended, and at one point we finally got to join the queue. we got in (i went to the bathroom again - for like the 15th time that day.... uruguayan things, you wouldn’t get it 🧉) and the crowd didnt seem that big, so we went to the back in the middle and the stage wasnt that far!

paz carrara was singing and she was LOVELY she was so emotional, she thanked us so many times and said louies were the best, she’s a sweetheart and i love her 🥺

and then the chaos started.... we saw two paramedics take an unconscious person out and after that i lost count of how many people were taken out, or had to leave. people walked out of the crowd wet from head to toe and they were pale and about to faint and throwing up. we helped a few fans, but there were so many during the entire time sunroom was on stage, i couldnt even listen to one song properly. hope they enjoyed anyways 😭 the staff was throwing water on the front (like actually wetting them) and handing plastic glasses of water. and i was getting so anxious, i was scared to have an anxiety attack because watching that happen live a few times was bad, but being there, with sooo many young people getting sick was a bit terrifying ngl. it was too hot and people were pushing too much.

louis started late because they were trying to make the crowd take a step back and when they finally did and louis showed up, everything worked out!!! it was still too hot but people respected the space a little better.

i was so nervous and freaking out a little the minutes before it started, but then we made it started and life stopped being real. like when i say i had an out of the body experience.... i didnt feel like i was there. i think it took me a few songs to be like, okay this is louis, im here, this is happening. and even then it didnt feel as real as when i saw oli KDHDKD i don’t know how to explain it, maybe he’s just so perfect my basic human brain can’t comprehend HE’S FUCKING REAL.

i have so many blanks but the things i DO remember:

we didnt know there was a platform, and between people getting out of the front of the crowd and joining the back, and the few steps back we took, we didn’t seem that close anymore. like we could still see him clearly (when people weren’t raising all their phones at once 🥲) but it was fared away than initially. BUT THEN at one point he starts walking our way, reaches the end of the stage and keeps walking, and KEEPS WALKING, AND HE WAS SO FUCKING CLOSE WTF!!! WE SCREAMED SO MUCH 😭😭😭

i think fearless was the song i enjoyed the most live which isn’t exactly a surprise because i love it, but its SO GOOD LIVE it was amazing. always you was also one of my top songs of the night and the lights during beautiful war were sooooo pretty!!!! really feels like being in the middle of a thousand stars (or more like fifteen thousand stars 😌)

he’s voice????? is so????? fucking flawless??????? i have always loved listening to him during performances/live shows/etc, i always thought he sings even better live. but HOLY SHIT i was not prepared for it to be EVEN BETTER??? he blew my fucking mind. HE’S SO TALENTED!!! HES WORKED SO HARD ON HIS VOCALS AND ITS PAYING OFF AMAZINGLY, HES SO WONDERFUL!!!!

singing his songs back to him was so good 🥺 i was really looking forward to sing YOU WERE MY BECAUSE at him but that moment is also blank 💀 buuut i do remember thinking “oh he got it right” in the first verse KDHDJS

when he went to the barricade during kmm everyone pushed closer and he raised his arm and i saw all his tattoos, and everyone who knows me knows how obsessed i am with that arm so it was a pretty special moment to see them so close 😭

oh before ttd i was like “the pic????” so ttd ended and people were chanting for perfect now (except for me and steph, we were chanting for just hold on skhdks) and steph yelled “the photo!!” and he immediately said lets take a photo, so we choose to ✨believe✨ that he heard her. they are practically besties now 😌

also my throat still hurts so much because we screamed the entire time 😭 kshsks

and the funniest part of the night was that getting back to the hotel, our taxi driver was a bald man in his 50s who was a harrie, but we made him a louie (he said louis has a better voice and sings better 💀) but thats a story for another day 😁

Hey, all. I’m alive!

I realised that in my rush to go from chickenpox to making content for Aro Week (with a detour via Really Bad Chronic Pain Flare following said chickenpox, because of course) that I never updated Tumblr with how I’ve been going. There’s really no justification for that lapse, and I’m so sorry! I ended up laser-focused on the scramble to try and get my usual amount of content made for Aro Week in less than the usual amount of time, and just about everything else ended by the wayside.

While I was never horribly sick, the all-over-itching is something I never again want to endure. I had a lot of blisters, and since my skin tone is best described as “sickly mushrooms that have never seen sunlight”, I've still got rather noticeable reddish spots even though the blisters have healed over.

But! I’m here, I’m alive and my concerns are all cosmetic, which is so much better than the alternative.

As for Aro Week ... I have some posts queued! I’m also currently scrambling to get a short fiction piece--The Lies Lovers Tell--in a readable state, so we’ll all find out later this week if I succeed in doing so. (It’s a riff on the fairy-tale Rapunzel, because you’d think being trapped in a tower would deter romantic suitors, right?) Said posts include a couple of alphabet patterns for my cross-stitch patches and a tutorial for making aro-themed beaded star pendants, plus a collection post of my stories I think suitable for loveless aros. It’s not all that I wanted to get done this year, but it’s been a struggle for me to get even this together, so I hope nobody minds too much.

I’m currently posting twice a week on @aroworlds, but--once Aro Week is over and I have time to tag and queue things--I will get back to normal once again.

I am so sorry, truly. (You all left so many kind comments!) A hundred thousand apologies from me, along with a hundred thousand expressions of gratitude--and the hope that every aro following me has a fabulous Aro Week filled with pride, support, affirmation, representation, connection and celebration. Between the efforts of all the amazing content creators and collators here on Tumblr, let’s ensure that everyone on the aromantic spectrum can find content that speaks to their unique way of being aro--because we deserve nothing less.
