Well. Not new. I’ve had Grey for a while but never got around to making their introduction LMAO but here we go!! They’re probably my favourite oc besides Step ofc. Lore beneath the cut (for anyone interested!!)

I have. No idea where to start LMAO but I’ll try to make this short and concise for everyone’s sanity. Might make a more cohesive version later. Here goes:

Grey was built as an early generation two iterator, the second oldest in their local group. Their initial name was Solace in Absolution, or just Solace for short. Their local group goes as follows, from oldest to youngest:

“Wander”ing Asunder - he/him - late 1st generation

“Solace” in Absolution - they/them - early 2nd generation

Disruption of “Clarity” - he/they/vir - mid 3rd generation*

“Drift”ing Petals - he/him - late 3rd generation*

Clear Golden “Sky” - she/it/they - mid 4th generation

*Clarity and Drift had their projects started at the same time, but Drift’s took longer to complete due to the rough terrain and bitterly cold tundras surrounding their can.

Solace was never well acquainted with their local group and was appointed as an honorary group senior because of Wander’s inability to lead. They never really clicked with their group either due to their cold pessimism.

They never really liked the ancients due to their admins, (guy #1, whom I haven’t named yet) and Effervescent’s combined efforts to make them feel like Shit™ !!

After a while, the desire to just up and leave became unbearable.

However, another member of their High Council named Paradox (design still pending) saw their laments in a pearl, took pity on them, and gave them pirated instructions on how to go off the string, basically.

Idk, don’t ask me how that works because I’ve got No Idea.

While the ancients are still around, Solace… Doesn’t really know what to do with it. They just kind of modify the blueprints a little more to their desire. (And yes, those claws are just as sharp as they appear to be.)

When the ancients dipped, they saw their chance and decided to leave!! But not before they have a spat with the entirety of their local group and get their seniority status revoked lol. But they’ve left now and there’s no going back. And. Well.

In hindsight, this was a terrible decision for everyone involved.

Immediately after their departure from their can, they are attacked by another iterator. They’re nearly killed before a patrol of scavengers take notice, and a particular scavenger named Lindel saves them and chases the other iterator off! Unfortunately this event also just cements their hate of other iterators outside their local group :(

They join the scavenger patrol and are adopted + named Grey by the scavengers!! Wahoo!!

(The art here is a little outdated but the lore is still applicable!)

The scavengers teach them how to make bombs and sharpen rebar to make spears, and, in turn, Grey teaches them how to make electric spears, flashbangs, and singularity bombs from the rarefaction cells of killed iterators :) friendship yippee!!

And. Yeah! That’s what I got so far :) One more thing…

Ooooo.. I just. I have a funny feeling. A *funny* feeling. That while it does make sense that Sun and especially Moon wouldn’t tell us the truth cuz they don’t know who to trust with what. I have a funny feeling we may not react very well whenever we DO finally find out Moon is alive and both of them lied about it while we mourned. I just have a funny feeling we perhaps don’t have the best experiences with secrets and betrayal and people close to us hurting us. Like we (the readers) don’t know the EXACT details of pry/ncess’s home life yet yeah, but from what we DO know it wasnt. Good. Im sure pry/ncess wont find out the truth about Sun and Moon for awhile, but I’m filled with a lot of emotions about the eventual reveal. I can’t wait for the glorious angst you cook up next, Bubby, got me hanging onto every update. I have so many emotions for events that haven’t even happened yet. Oh my gosh.

oh yeah no i haven't really talked about those Important Things yet! mostly because i'm still solidifying how they work in my mind... i try my best to adhere to canon, since to me aus are an exploration of the source / characters, so... its still tenuous. i have to think and consider and run parallel - there's a balance i'm still trying to find

like The Pit™️ (the spiral/eye void under Home) in Lights Out is gonna be different from the canon one since i started thinking about the au before the update. and the update changed my perception / theories on what the void is! but the au Pit™️ needs to remain mostly the way it originally was, or a lot of "plot" points fall apart

Something from recently - a sketch of a sub-timeline to Unicosm (Minicosm)!

Context: The Timeline when created gets a little screwy, and as a result of this screw-up about a half to three quarters of Unicosm's population ends up tiny upon being pulled into the timeline.

This is a less important detail, but Sparky and Bori are in human form for this timeline as when Minicosm's timeline was created, the two were showing the form off to the Frisk of Sparky's timeline (Rahmi)! As a result, they may or may not be stuck with that appearance for a bit (or it becomes a form they take preference to in the long-run).

Niko Spirata in this timeline is less depressive than in Unicosm Prime due to a) awareness that this isn't the main timeline (They dream of Prime's events) and b) they're in a better situation long-term than their Prime counterpart (they go through a lot less grief)! Yeah, I know I haven't really described Unicosm Prime, but it's a group project in and of itself. The easiest way to describe Unicosm Prime is “How many of our hyperfixations can we add to a timeline before everything explodes?” - Quoted from the discord server (private), not my words. lol

saw a post talking about bethany and carver and how strange their fanon characterizations are, and tumblr kept messing up and i couldn’t reblog it, so i’m making my own post with what i put in the tags

bethany and carver both hate their lives, even before they come to kirkwall. the difference is that carver blames hawke for it, while bethany blames herself. and i think some of the reason the former gets so much more meta/sympathy/etc is because self-esteem issues are a muddy and uncomfortable thing to talk about, and it’s easier to talk about carver’s issue. he has a scapegoat and a built-in success story: as soon as he strikes out on his own, he’ll be all right

i think bethany is less popular for a lot of reasons. first of all, mage seems to be a disproportionately popular class, so some people would never even meet her. also, she doesn’t make a very strong first impression. a lot of people think she’s bland so they wouldn’t be interested in keeping her in the party and getting to know more about her. because at first glance, she is the mild-mannered polite perfect daughter character. that’s who she has to be, because it averts suspicion from the templars if she follows the rules, sure, but also because it’s how she makes it up to her family for being a mage. they’ve already done so much for her without even asking; how could she possibly inconvenience them any more? she’s a burden just by existing, so she has to do everything she can, be as unobtrusive as possible, to make up for that

it’s not just that Martha ended up with Mickey i mean. if they had a 1-minute interaction i would be like sure, they couldn’t get Tom Ellis to return and since RTD would not let his female characters without a male love interest for even a moment... fine whatever, i’d hate it all the same but i could still be accepting. it’s just how little care and respect for her character went into it that breaks my heart. i mean Rose’s ending was shitty as well but RTD obviously put soooooo much thought into the Love Story angle that it’s serviceable. but Martha’s was just like. thrown in there. she apparently faked her death (?? what about her family?? the one she left the doctor to take care of??) to go freelancing (??) as an alien fighter with fucking. mickey of all people. and then they both get a 2min scene where she doesn’t even get to interact with the Doctor at all. just complete disrespect.

Honestly, for me, one of the more ... uninspired and a little bit grating takes on problématique characters with sad backstories is: "well this other character experienced this and worse and they're not out there killing people!"

i mean, good for them, but I don't think we need a "best practice" approach to trauma

#'hero and villain experienced similar horrors but are mirror versions of each other and act differently' is a good trope for a reason #not to mention that the 'good victim' narrative can also be alienating and harmful #e.g. the case of one very famous book which basically boils down to: #'yes child abuse bad but look how wonderfully humble and kind Main Character is! Now let's never deeply engage with that again!' #and just to get this out of the way with: Obviously a character doesn't have to malicious or destructive traits #to be complex and interesting in regards to the way their backstory is incorporated into their character #there are a lot of really kind and moral characters who are allowed to be complex and strong and good in a way that reflects their past pai #but that's just the point: There is a difference between THAT and a character where the writer doesn't give a damn about them #and doesn't give them space to be complex (or puts them through the ringer but somehow it doesn't affect them) #and then it's looking pointing at a cardboard cut-out and saying: 'well HE doesn't act that way' yeah bc he's 2 dimensional

Aziraphale & Crowley were obvious to us as a couple but we didn't see this with Loki & Mobius (please people don't be mad 🙃). I saw a great love and a bond that will last forever but not the way we witnessed in Good Omens. To me it was more of a family thing. Like Mobius has two sons. Could be the representation of Thor and Loki. I don't know. I was so surprised when I saw all this on Tumblr. I want to rewatch the show now to see if I really missed all the signs.

Hi there! 😊 Thank you for the ask and please don't worry for wondering, part of the joy in a watching experience is being able to see something in a completely new light. I hope you've come to the right place as Lokius and Aziraphale/Crowley are the only romantic pairings that have stood out to me in ages but now for fairly different reasons so I'll do my best to explain why in my own personal view Lokius is a slow burn for the ages above and beyond all other love stories to me and I'd absolutely recommend rewatching Loki, especially season 2, with the mindset that the tropes of every good romance are present in *every* interaction Loki and Mobius have.

(adding a read more here as I feel this is about to get almost horrifically long if you'd like to know even some of the signs lol)

Right from the start we see Mobius recounting being a fan of Loki's most mischievous acts on the timeline, pushing the question of just why he's focused on ruling and nothing else, really getting under his skin in a way no one ever has before?? And in that there's something even better and deeper than love at first sight; intrigue. Loki's furious at being held by the TVA but can't help being drawn back to what an enigma Mobius is to brush off his insults and offer salvation in the face of knowing every good or bad thing Loki's ever done and believing in him anyway.

Cue the tentative partnership and rapport they both get far too comfortable in which you see when Mobius indulges in letting Loki ruin the mission at the renaissance fair and later tries to backtrack in reassuring Ravonna he's got things under control, then again when Loki realizes Mobius has been reading him too well and defaults to leaning in to "fix" his perfectly tied tie, a callback to when Mobius pointed out Loki has a tendency to try and seduce people in more powerful positions who could help him. You actually see Mobius lean in for a moment before realizing himself and pulling back, but contrary to everyone else Loki's tried this with he doesn't give in or get angry, he laughs and once again points out what Loki's up to, trying to find a way to get to the Timekeepers.

That entire sequence is the tipping point for me when they officially enter romantic territory, as Loki's visibly thrown and surprised by the way Mobius reacts and scrambles after him, finally taking things seriously enough to do real work and is rewarded not only with trust he's never been given so freely before but a now mutual fascination you see during their conversation in the cafeteria (a highlight of the series for me ) when Loki can't help but try and learn more about the person who knows him so well already by asking genuinely about Mobius and his jet ski magazine. Blew me away because any previous version of Loki would've never taken the time or interest in something so ridiculous (in his eyes), but this Loki shyly takes in the way Mobius beams and opens up, because how could you not fall a little when such a simple pleasure makes someone happy?

Then when they research Roxxcart they flirt again, Mobius praising Loki and teasing he might take his job before what we refer to as the Roxxcart grocery store divorce and for good reason 😂 When Loki's captured back to the TVA, Mobius isn't just hurt, he's clearly jealous and *extremely* so because he thought *they* had been building something only to now think Loki played him all along and during Loki's next interrogation Mobius loses his temper in a way he never has before, making scathing comments about Loki stabbing him in the back and siding with his "girlfriend" which should kind of speak for itself there 😅 Then their mutual assurance of trust before Mobius is pruned and the hug in the void being initiated by Loki is huge as well when this is the first time he's shared EVER that with someone and you see the crushing despair when Mobius later no longer remembers.

Getting into s2, it's easier for me to sum up with the base of their s1 relationship laid out since there's no need to get into as much detail when the entire thing is pure romance start to finish.

Loki and Mobius frantically desperate to find each other when in reality they had been separated for maybe an hour? Mobius ignoring all other issues at hand and his superiors to gently hold Loki by the waist and pull him close, constantly grounding by touching his back, arms, anywhere to provide extra comfort and Loki giving him that control, Mobius spending the entire season actively trying to enjoy being on the field without limits for a change and organizing dates between the two of them all season when his focus used to primarily be on the work. He repeatedly asks Loki to go for a drink, suggests visiting the theatre, going on a hot air balloon ride, etc, while Loki stops to indulge in popcorn and pies just because small joys are important to Mobius. When Loki visits Mobius' original timeline self they spend the ENTIRE ep flirting with each other, and honestly Don having two kids is just as it seems since there were no official indications otherwise; he may share genes with Mobius but is a different person with a different life. Don can't stop bringing up how single he is, teases Loki about following him home, which Loki absolutely did but only after fixing his hair and coat to try and look as good as possible before seeing him (because again, he looks like Mobius) and getting so flustered stammering over his words he may as well have been in a 90s Hugh Grant rom com 😂😂

Don't even get me started on the finale, which has every character except Loki and Mobius basically living their ideal life while the two of them are clearly left unfulfilled and wanting, missing each other to the point Mobius leaves the TVA (which exists out of time) for a timeline that Loki can see as a tear rolls down Loki's face in the final scene because of it.

Do I think that had their characters been tied to anyone but the Disney/Marvel corporations they, like Aziraphale and Crowley, would've shared a kiss as well? Absolutely yes, but that isn't a necessity for me personally and in all honesty despite Aziraphale and Crowley having kissed I actually felt season 2 of Good Omens was a massive backtrack for their relationship compared to the quality of time they spent together in season 1 which I much preferred. Again, that's personal preference and everyone sees and interprets elements of romance differently which is completely fine and I hope this wild ramble at least gave some perspective on how I and many others view Lokius 😂💖 Happy watching, no matter how you end up viewing them, and thank you again for the ask!

As if Vessel is reminding us that this is his purpose - to sing and to worship Sleep, because he has to. No matter how much he wants peace, how much he wants to break free from Them, to live a normal life, he will always come back to this. To Sleep. As if his very existence's worth is measured only by the music he offers to Them.

It's also a weary sigh of admittance. He's aware of the discrepancy between him and Sleep, between the love he desperately seeks in Them, yet doesn't find, and the love he willingly gives away, and is ravenously consumed by Sleep, again and again.

'Cause I am a fire and you are dry as bone You are taking your time You are killing me slow (...) With all that you believe You still refuse to shelter me 'Cause I am a danger and you're A long way from home

I think it's interesting how he's constantly comparing himself to predators, to the things that hurt, and yet he's the one who's being preyed on, who's being burned. As if that subversion of roles is Vessel declaring how overwhelming Their power over him is; no matter how powerful or intense his love for Sleep is, it pales in comparison to Sleep's divine existence. As if loving Them both ignites his passion and drains his very being.

Because he could hurt Them if he wanted. Because the biggest betrayals come from those closest to you. And Sleep lives beneath his flesh, lodged in his mind, his heart. He knows their weaknesses, he has seen the ugly parts of them and took them to himself. Yet chooses not to - or rather, he prefers not to, but he plays along anyways.

And we are exhausted by all this pretending We just can't resist the violence

The price of absolute devotion is what fuels Sleep's attention, and for a man desperate for the slightest hint of comfort and care, this is enough - this is everything. So if fighting the one he loves is the condition to receive their love, then he'll spill blood and tear skin to keep their favour. Because the pain he endures under Sleep's touch is nothing comparing to the pain of being denied their affection. So he learns to welcome the violence, because the aftermath will always bring him close to them.

(There's something about Sleep showing him just enough love to keep him around, but not enough to satiate his hunger, that I find utterly appealing.)

Deep down he knows this is not right, that being loved is not something to be indebted for. He loves and gives himself freely to Sleep; for Vessel, loving someone has no cost. But if this is what it takes to be with them, so be it. After all, who else could love him but Them?

You need praise and entertainment; you need the games, the bloodshed, the sacrifice; you think love is destruction. You need to consume in order to give.

I only need you. To love and be loved by you alone. So come have your fill of me; empty me of everything. I will still love you.
