Initially I wrote, “I ran my mouth about the Watcher streaming/paywall situation because I make bad decisions,” but I think the post has actually gone over well? In short, I want to see them succeed but I am also deeply fuckin’ baffled. I so desperately want the tea about what was really going on behind all this, and how the guys are reacting to it now, and I really hope they can turn this around somehow.

The Hot Vintage Lady Polls are escalating in round four. We got to a point where I posted propaganda for Ava Gardner AND Dorothy Dandridge in their matchup. Probably the biggest scandal of round three was Vivien Leigh getting knocked out, but she’s now High Chancellor of the Shadow Realm. The most contentious matchup this time seems to be Judy Garland vs Natalie Wood, which is nearly 50/50 as of this writing. But keep your eye on Hedy Lamarr, who may have Mifune Sweep energy.

Allow me a moment of a controversial opinion, I actually like Tumblr’s ‘for you’ page because it’s a lot easier for me to see new art and find new artists as opposed to my regular dashboard where it’s mostly non art related text posts and memes despite how many artists I follow lol

So long as those two timelines remain separate and I can keep my dash where it’s just people I follow in chronological order, I’m honestly fine with them tbh :’D

This template is quite simple to edit and use, but there are some tutorials below the cut if you need them!

How to Use:

Open the link -> Select File -> Select Make a Copy

How to Change Pictures:

Click on the image until it's surrounded by a blue box and a floating toolbar appears beneath it

Select the Edit button with the pencil icon in the toolbar (or double-click on the blue-boxed image). This will open a Drawing window.

Click on the image that you want to change until it's surrounded by the blue box again.

Select Replace Image near the top-right hand corner of the window.

Upload the image you want to use instead.

How to Change the Stat Meters:

Highlight the amount of suns you want to change, click Font Color, select the blue (#253348) or gray (#786A5F) colors found at the bottom of the box as part of the Custom colors.

Tips on Changing Text:

Things will get shifted around and may break the format if you try to put a lot of text in one spot, but highlighting the text and changing it to a smaller size helps preserve things!

How to Share Screenshots:

Change the mode (underneath the Share button) from Editing to Viewing.

Turn your window fullscreen (F11 on Windows, Control + Command + F on Mac).

I've only had this account for about 5 years now. But I've been on tumblr for 13 years, since I was 16 and just starting to learn who I was, what transgender meant, what the world looked like at the time for a group I was swiftly realizing included me.

And for 13 years I have consistently used this site and stayed on, occasionally blog hopping when things felt stale or if things got bad. And things got bad sometimes. You'd get people calling you nasty things in your ask or replies or reblogs or tagging your username to sic their followers on you. And tumblr has always treated targeted harassment as a "Sorry you feel that way. That's not against tos though! Was this answer helpful?" issue whenever it's reported. They've never cared against abuse on their website, IN THE EXCEPTION of cases in which radfems and nazis have maliciously mass reported users for MAYBE hitting their breaking points and MAYBE snapping and saying something stupid that could be used as an excuse. Could be something today or four years ago in your archive but at some point, you had a bad day and posted something that could make tumblr say finally, we can get rid of a pest! or you were just transgender and said as much. A little too loudly in front of the wrong mod.

And this sounds so silly to say. But when you live in a website for 13 years and it's where you have your primary interactions with so many people and where you've met so many of your friends! It starts to feel like your community. Like an apartment building we all live in and visit each other's apartments and talk and decorate and laugh and play. And it's a bit of a dump and we all laugh about the crumbling peeling wallpaper and the slumlord that runs the place. We know the landlord isn't our friend, they just want us to pay rent until we're no good for it anymore. Produce the posts that make this site anything more than a hate forum, make the memes and the art and the posts that end up everywhere from your little sister's pinterest to your mom's Facebook to your uncle's meme subreddit. Keep up the garden and don't pile trash on the curb or you're out. This is "the queerest place on the net" only because queer people live here and hung on with our fingernails to stay here because if you have to leave, what's your fallback? You like your neighbors. They can't all come with you. They won't. Even the kind of crumbly parts feel like home after a while.

Like I want to clarify that Tumblr's reputation as a funny place to chill and scroll and meet people and see new things is not from the transphobes working on staff. Their job is to turn a profit or at least keep it LOOKING profitable, so the site can sell to the next moron to buy it out. The fun and joy of Tumblr is us. WE made this place. When you tear down our decorations and rip out our furnishings and toss us out on the street and look at what's left to show the next prospective tenant, it's a fucking dump. There is nothing left but the shittiest people in our neighborhood who are allowed to stay and make hate posts about us. There's the framework for "someone could make pretty posts here! It's a fixer upper!" But it's shit. It sucks.

I've been spiraling since yesterday over a couple of things I'm not taking well. One is work. "They can't fire us all!" I always joke. And people laugh. Last night my boss and I spent an hour and a half in this miserable fucking meeting, talking about the pressure pushing down on our load bearing team. We fantasized over all 8 of us being able to say "that's enough. I'm better than this. We are all walking out today and we will not come back. Don't text." And we can't. None of us can lose the stability of a full time job that pays kind of okay even though it's killing you. None of us can face that uncerainty. I left with chest pain. It was my first day back after major surgery. I went home and sat in one spot for over six hours almost unmoving, crying and just in disbelief of how unfair it is. We can't leave. But something has to give before my team dissolves and one of us puts a gun in their mouth. And then we all still have to make our shift. Who else will do all that? Who's going to cover, huh? Clock in.

And I spent the rest of my day, which ran to 4 am before I was able to sleep, wishing I could quit and hating what's happening on tumblr just as much. On a fucking blogging platform. Because this has been my fun sandbox for over a decade and it's always kind of sucked, it's full of cat shit and people throw sand at you and you're getting sunburned but it's fun here. You find your people to play with. And then it's like you remember oh yeah, other people here want me dead. The owner of this place wants me to die. He wants everyone that makes this place cool and fun to die. And he'll turn around and say "yeeeah well you shouldn't have joked about being mean to me." And it's like why am I here! Why am I making posts for YOU?

I can't leave employment. I'm only a couple of weeks, maybe a couple months away from homelessness at any given time, with how tight finances are. "Shoestring budget" would be generous. We're making it through sheer force of will. But I can't quit my job, and neither can anyone else.

But I can leave this place that I've hated and loved for so, so long. The other massive drain on my life that wants to see me shrivel and die. I can get up and go. We could all just go. Mass exodus. And I know it won't happen. Give it a week, ten days. People move along. Yeah, that sucked. Well, here we all still are. Still posting. Still tumbling. Still complaining about the landlord. But most people won't leave. How can you walk on your friends and community, knowing they won't all follow? But how do you continue to stay here watching this happen? I'm already listening to people tell me "so? that doesn't affect me. it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. and of course this happened, duhhhh." It's like, feel stupid for getting comfortable here. You should feel stupid for settling in and making it a home and thinking it would be fun here. If you are transgender you are not safe and you are not wanted. Not in the queerest place on the web, either.

It's not about the funny hammer car explosion """threat.""" It was never about the hammer car explosion. That was a dogwhistle through a megaphone to transphobes. Tumblr's darlings. Don't worry. I'll take care of this one that thinks she can speak up against me. And against you. And now there's a defined "REASON" for the ban. Why, Matt hardly knew he was banning a trans woman. All he knew was fear! He had no choice! And you can ignore the ACLU and the claims of systemic transphobia, that's something else. We fixed that!

I want this place to die because it is already rotting. We are scraping at the bones at this point. Walls are crumbling and there's a hole in the floor to the room below and the windows have long been knocked out and the boiler hasn't worked in years. They aren't going to fix it. It has never been the intention to fix it. They want you to leave or die. Whichever. Don't matter. Just get lost. I will find another tenant. I will find another person who will give me more ad revenue. You are replaceable in that sense. Someone else will join tumblr tomorrow. And tumblr will make a buck off them instead.

But they cannot replace the ways in which you and I have made this site livable and bearable and fun. And I want us to leave so that the husk of this place can collapse and blow away in the wind. I want tumblr to take a major hit and I want the loss of ad revenue to HURT THEM. I want a mad scramble to figure out how to fix it all. They can't. They won't. The fix has always been there and it's always been refused. Terfs will never be turned away from tumblr. Neither will nazis. "Sorry you feel that way, but that's not against our tos. Was this answer helpful?"

You know how they say, "it there are ten people at a table and one is a nazi and no one stands up, you have ten nazis"? This feels like that to me. If 20,000 of us wait a week, shrug, and resume joking and playing and say, well, yeah, it's sad that another dozen trans fems were banned last night. But I like it here...

It feels like that. Why are my trans sisters' archives of 5, 10+ years of life and joy being wiped clean? I can't even tell you how many posts I've seen from an op whose url I recognize from last week, but whose username is grey and icon default, because she posted something less than a day ago to say "yo this sucks. Fuck this place and fuck this guy." They've never ever found the terfs and nazis to ban them because they DON'T CARE. Those are the ones they prefer. That they cater to. Post about the ceo being a dumbfuck and in 12 hours, risk losing your community and the ability to look back at your life online. Clean slate. As if you never lived there. Oh, but tumblr isn't a transphobic place. We fired the one and only naughty transphobe on staff who was taking bribes to send out bans. Pay to win moderation. That person's gone. So it's okay and you don't need to worry. It's okay, I promise. It's the queerest place on the web. Get comfortable.

I love my job and I love this place. One of them is going to push me to the edge. But I can choose to leave one. You can choose to leave with me. They can't fire us all.

So probably not as serious as a lot of other stuff people have been talking about on your Tumblr, but I’m noticing a couple of people on the right use the arguing back and forth about the current I/P crisis to make unrelated digs at various unrelated bugaboos right wingers have about leftist culture. I’ve seen several people pontificate about how the campus pro-Hamas demonstrations are a result of “wokeness”, people’s second attack against JVP’s Capitol protest (their first of course being that several JVP members are Reconstructionist rabbis aka “not real Jews”) being “I bet all of these people have pronouns”/assuming they support various left wing causes that a plurality of American Jews who disagree with JVP about I/P probably support, I swear I saw someone using the massacre on Oct. 7th to make a TERF argument? And this is besides the Islamophobia/anti-Arabism that one might suspect from that crowd. It’s gross

It is very fair, and long overdue, to point out that we are past the point of an ironic "So much for the tolerant Left!" joke and are well into the "So much for the antifascist, Nazi-punching Left!" reality.

But yes - that can easily get gross if people start to position identity- and rights-based issues more associated with the Left as being automatically stupid and disqualifying.

Despite what the memes and infographics say, antisemitism is not a set of politics only The Other Team can have. It is a human failing and cruelty like domestic violence or child abuse, that anyone can display. That includes LGBT people and it also includes TERFs and transphobes / homophobes (Hamas and the Ayatollahs high on that list!), white supremacists and BLM chapters. Because this is Tumblr, a major segment of my feed consists of LGBT Jews defending themselves from LGBT antisemites.

Something I struggle with, a lot, is that for the most part, people are not morally consistent and don't even attempt to live as though moral consistency were important. Going "Gotcha!" on a hypocrite makes for a good text post (and it's probably 40% of all my posts here) but it isn't going to stop anyone in real life. The heart is not a court of law, people hate whoever they want and make up the reason later. It just... feels especially snotty and poisonous when the self-professed Inclusion And Tolerance people turn out to be just as 6MWE as the 8kun types who spread racist memes and revenge porn. Both sides hate us, but one side pretends not to.

Don't cut my throat then tell me it's raining.

You and the significant others of your boyfriend’s brothers have a text chat going throughout the holiday season. The guys had started acting suspicious around Halloween and their spare time was suddenly taken up by a secret project. You and your friends have differing theories on what they are up to, varying from time travel (Donnie’s s/o) to an underground fight club (Raph’s s/o). Whatever it is, you want your cuddle time back, dammit!

Master Splinter knows something and is covering for them, that you all agree on. But no matter what any of you say or do, he doesn’t crack.

Finally, Christmas Eve arrives and the four of you, along with April and Casey, are invited to the lair. The turtles are nowhere to be seen when you all arrive. Their father guides you to a seating area where the others wait in the dojo at the edge of the mat. Everyone is whispering about what they think is about to happen.

Suddenly, the lights go down low and a neon light show streaks vividly across the walls and ceiling. A deep bass beat begins to pulse through your bodies and you all gasp as a group. One by one, the guys appear on the mat within the flashes of light. All four are posed under the spotlight sporting ugly Christmas sweaters, dripping in gold and silver chains and wearing dark sunglasses.

Next thing you know, Raph and Donnie are beatboxing and Mikey starts rapping while Leo gets down twerking. Your shock swiftly turns to amusement as the stern leader bounces his ass to the beat. i just think it’s a very bold move to show off that you think you’re entitled to any opinion on what I post for free on this website.

I don’t even have tips turned on. I don’t link my kofi nor my Venmo. Tumblr is not natively sending me money for pushing brand deals or any engagement out of any of you.

I’m posting for free in my spare time. This is not a job. This is a masochistic hobby I have subjected myself to for the past three years. I do not track how many people follow me. I do not care how many people follow or unfollow. This is a personal blog that I offer my knowledge regarding raptors to those who ask for it. That doesn’t make me obligated to not post anything else.

Yes. I could have a separate main blog and post all my hot takes over there and just leave this blog dead for weeks or months on end when I don’t get anything owl related coming my way. I used to do that when I first started the blog, relying on the very loud large text in different colors to get peoples attention towards a gimmick to spread awareness and that was the only way I got any traction anywhere.

Even without posting very often I had nearly 5x the following I have now. That would mean a lot to some people, but it meant nothing to me when I looked at who was engaging with my content to find TERFs, fascists, ARAs, racists, pedophile apologists—- you name it, they followed me. Understandably, as someone who is a very loud queer poc leftist in real life, I took some issue with that.

Which meant I could sit down and painstakingly block thousands of people after individually checking their blogs, or I could make it very clear what I stood for. Many people unfollowed me, and I was grateful. I don’t want those sorts of people following me because I hold no delusion that I will change their beliefs. I can change someone’s mind about animals I’m sure, but I’m not going to make a racist any less racist by humoring them.

All that said, I don’t have many followers in the grand scheme of things left, and I am not concerned with that fact. People unfollowing does not affect my life. It is far more important to me to use what platform I do have left to spread awareness of issues and to give people knowledge of environmentalism and animal care that can arm them to make better choices in their daily life as well as in what content they consume.

I also post memes though which mysteriously I don’t get complaints about. Almost as though it’s not about me being off topic as much as it is me saying something they don’t like.

Don't know why i'm writing this, maybe it could be cathartic, maybe it could help me find some other friends here.

Don't know why i'm using all these photos to write this post.

It's been ages since I last posted on this platform, and it was about a completely different subject.

Nothing wrong with that, of course. but my tumblr's nickname is based on that very person, so it's strange to change all of a sudden.

I've always felt a particular connection with music. It helped me through a lot: when I was being bullied at school for my weight, when nobody wanted me, when everything at university seemed to be falling apart.

But i've always been a little bit reluctant to try new singers and bands. That's when my friends came to stop this habit of mine.

They sent me photos of this fella right there in these photos, and I was like "ok, he's hot but does he make good music?". It turned out that yes, he makes good music. But I was only listening to 2 or 3 songs, so I didn't really had that much to judge.

But my friends, who are big fans of The 1975, practically forced me to buy a ticket to go to the SATVB Tour in Milan. It would have been an occasion for us to reunite (I live in Turin, they live in Milan and we don't see each other that often now that we work). So we bought tickets like a year ago and almost forgot about it.

The day of the concert was coming and honestly, I was feeling a little bit under the weather because of some things that were happening in my life last month. I had to drive for an hour and half (back and forth) to go there and I was alone in the car. Tiredness, money, time: everything was worrying me.

But I went anyway. Just to see my precious friends.

I started to study the setlist some days before the concert, just to shout some other lyrics rather than the only ones I knew. I was stunned by the verses, the words they used, the voice Matty has and the melodies the band uses in their songs. I went to the concert not knowing what to expect, maybe one of the usual concert I went to.

But boy, was I wrong.

Singing those song was liberating. I took some videos and then I tried to enjoy the rest of the show. Sometimes I was just admiring the stage, admiring Matty and how well he performes and owns the scene. My friends was like: "are you still on this Earth?". That was the right question, because I felt like I was being moved to another dimension where just the band and me were there. Nobody else existed.

I was unthinkingly worshipping Matty.

In the next days, I also recouped all the interviews, claiming that it was just to "practice my listening skills with British accent" - I work in an English private school and I've studied foreing languages at university. But it wasn't just that, ofc.

That's how my "obsession" started lol

All this wall of text to say that I need to make friends here. Because I noticed a lot of wonderful users that 1) write ff so beautifully 2) are so damn funny 3) have my same interests 4) helped me with my obsession lol

Since I'm new to this fanclub, I would like to chat with somebody who could explain me all the inside jokes or all the memes that sometimes I find on IG. And why not, practice my English as well.

HI!!!! i remember you too, i always get really excited when artists i like come here. tumblr is the only website i really use for myself and not just to post art, so it means i get to follow them and interact with their art 🥺 i ditched deviantart for everything that isn't posting art and bitching about the website via status updates lmfao, the new inbox and watched deviants tabs are so... out of the way and counter intuitive. hate it there.

anyway, I've written a general tumblr how-to post because there's been so many exoduses (exodi??) from other platforms over the last few years, but I don't think I've ever written one for artists? or at least I can't find it if I did. so here are some hot tips 😎👉👉

NUMBER ONE BIGGEST RULE: if you're an artist and you want to actively gain a following and curate your art, please have a separate art blog where you post exclusively or near exclusively art. it's ok to reblog a post here or there, but tumblr is a website About curating and having specific blogs! it's not that people don't want to see or hear about the artist behind the work, but they don't want 43289 unrelated memes and posts for fandoms they're not in 😅 admittedly i have skipped following some good artists here because their reblogs completely drown out their art and clog my dashboard. people really like curated blogs, almost every artist has a separate art blog 'round these parts. (it's completely fine to post WIPs and text posts discussing your art too, some people would like to see your process!)

speaking of curating: tags are your best friend! tumblr tracks the first 20 tags I believe, so use the first 20 tags to add your important search terms. this is where you put anything you'd want to turn up in the search. really you probably wont have more than 10 of these tags. after that you are welcome to ramble in the tags or use organizational tags for your specific blog.

not sure how to tag? search up what terms you'd use to try to find your own post if you were someone else, and see what tags popular posts in that tag used. you should ALWAYS use the #art and #artists on tumblr tags, as well as any relevant common trigger/content warning tags :D here's how i do it:

FOR FANDOM POSTS: where applicable, I tag Fandom, Fandom Acronym, Featured Characters, Featured Ships, and sometimes #[fandom] fanart and/or #[fandom acronym] fanart. FOR ORIGINAL POSTS: you can tag your art medium (digital art, traditional art, sculpting, etc), the general aesthetic or themes, time periods, and if it features your OCs you can use #oc and their names so if people want to see all your OC content they can find it. admittedly i mostly post fanart so i am very spontaneous with the tags i use on my original art posts lol

4. shorter captions seem to be preferred by the masses, I personally either dump my extra comments in the tags of the original post or I'll put them under a cut. unless it's extremely relevant to the post, like explaining ideas or headcanons

5. have all your handy links in your bio! you can use basic HTML coding to insert links with text and put in line breaks. you should have links to other socials (or something like a carrd that links them for you) and your support streams, like shops and tip jars and patreons. and ofc a little about you and what people can expect to see you draw!

6. have your inbox open! you don't have to take requests, but sometimes someone will throw a brilliant idea at you that you may Coincidentally be inclined to draw. it's also just fun to interact with people who like what you do! sweet comments go a long way

7. last one i can think of - do a seIf-reblog at some point in the day. people live in different timezones and not everybody finishes their dashboard. personally I schedule posts for 12 pm cst and then one seIf-reblog at 8 pm cst. it's also okay to reblog your older artworks for new followers to see, especially if you haven't posted in a while. TV airs re-runs and so can you B)

Twitter:

Bruce, Dick, Cass, Tim, Steph, and Jason all have twitter. The first four have verified accounts (like proper verified, not the shit Musky introduced). Jason's twitter is just something like litlover666

Tim has an extra anonymous account to post absolute shit in and pick fights with. Steph picks fights on main and makes fun of Bruce constantly. Jason posts mostly book reviews with the occasional photo of whatever he's eating right now and recommendation for some mom and pop restaurant in the worst parts of Gotham. He has a cult following

Bruce's account is entirely PR. He doesn't even have the password. Not because he can't be trusted with it but because he doesn't give a fuck. Every once in a while his social media intern asks him for some photo or he texts them about a charity he wants to promote and that's the extent of his involvement

Dick is sporadic with his use. He tweets happy birthdays to everyone including members of the batfam who aren't on Twitter (see Damian) and responds to random @ s a lot

Cass mostly uses it to crosspost videos of herself dancing from Instagram and retweets Steph's shitposting

Instagram:

Duke, Cass, and Steph all have Instagram. Only Cass is verified, because Duke is too new to the batfam. It irritates him more than he'll admit

Again, Cass's insta is mainly photos and videos of her dancing. She also posts a lot of photos with her family tho, especially in embarrassing situations nobody knew she'd managed to capture on camera

Steph uses it mainly to lurk but her friends only stories are a LOT of fun

Duke posts his poetry on there sometimes, but mostly it's a casual Instagram with pictures of friends and family and selfies. He also posts pictures of Damian's pets every once in a while cause he thinks it's a shame Damian is too young to join the platform and post them himself (Damian is like 11 or 12 at most in my mind and Alfred actually enforces the no social media before you're 13 rule)

Tim deleted his finsta when he became Robin cause it was dedicated to Bat content and that was Embarrassing

Only Steph and Tim have tumblrs. Jason would thrive on here, but he doesn't have time to figure out any other platform beside the one he's on. Neither Steph nor Tim told each other outright they have tumblrs, but they found each other and became mutuals anyway. Tim doesn't use the platform so much anymore, he was way more into it when he was like 13 or 14, but Steph keeps up with ALL the memes. Both accounts are anonymous but Tim has a HUGE following for telling random stories about his life that sound entirely made up except he always provides photographic evidence or some other kind of proof

Tiktok

WE PR made Bruce start a TikTok and he insisted it be a Wayne family TikTok because, again, he Did Not Want To Deal With It. Tim's supposed to be in charge of it but Dick is addicted. He has his own account too but he only ever posts on the Wayne family TikTok account, mostly to brag about his siblings' accomplishments

Cass, again, has a dance-focused account. She once posted herself dancing with Jason and everyone freaked out over who this giant dude is until he was legally brought back to life. Nobody in the batfam knows how she managed to get him to agree to participate but he was actually really good

Dick's personal account is not as active as the Wayne family account but he posts gymnastics there sometimes

Neither Alfred nor Kate are on social media for very different reasons. Babs is on every platform as a lurker, but on Twitter she interacts with Dick and Cass sometimes. Damian isn't allowed yet but once he turns 13 he becomes an absolute TERROR on twitter

Diana runs the first for the most part, basically every member of the Titans team gets their chances with it at some point for theirs, and Cassie and Tim have learned their lesson about letting anybody except the two of them tweet from the YJ account

Nightwing's account is excessively popular. A lot of people thirst follow him but also sometimes he eviscerates someone horrible and it's extremely funny

Spoiler's account is also popular for being just as feral as her civilian main

It's a recurring joke among the superhero community that everyone is very lucky that Robin doesn't have an account

Signal's account is low-key

Oracle's account is vital, she provides a lot of early warnings for civilians when there are Arkham breakouts and the like. A lot of people have notifications turned on for her account

Just like the Wayne's account, the batfam has an account. It's mostly funny bits from cowl cam but Red Robin has posted a series of videos triggering Red Hood into talking about his various interests (literature, proper gun maintenance, the actual programs that would benefit crime alley) all of which go extremely viral

I tried to keep more original while still following the general meme/ adding stuff that I liked from other people. For as much as I draw Link, Normal is up there for my fav character, so I’m glad to be solidifying a design for him that I actually like. Link reminds me of me as a kid and Normal reminds me of me when I was 13-15(honestly me a now a little, I’m just older so I don’t act as much like that). What can I say he’s my Hispanic, neurodivergent boy, of course I project on him. I still wear my high school spirt shirts because some of them are still cute, which means that Normal definitely wears San Dimas spirt shirts. Hopefully this isn’t just a uniform school thing, and ya’ll know what school spirt shirts are. I hope yall like the tree joke, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else make that observation.
