AU where Loki doesn’t interfere with Thor’s banishment at all and it takes Thor years to prove himself worthy and when he returns to Asgard everything is just. The same. Nothing seems to have changed at all and everyone greets him like his absence was a minor obstacle that didn’t fundamentally change Thor and the worst part is Loki stepped down from the place as regent without any delay and Thor can’t help but feel there’s something underlaying the way his brother looks at him now and won’t let him touch him and Thor doesn’t know what he could have missed because he doesn’t think he would have found anything wrong with the things around him and how everyone behaves if he hadn’t spent time on Earth reflecting.
#the warriors 4 not being interested in anything Thor ‘learnt’ at all#and making it clear that Thor was punished unfairly and the AllFather’s decision had been harsh#Loki saying he’s happy for Thor and Thor sees the way the smiles are forced and he sees the way Loki avoids any touch#Thor hating the way Frigga talks about Loki’s short regency and Thor’s absence like it wasn’t two whole decades or something#like she’s so grateful to have her other son back without ever addressing why he was gone#Thor just. growing during his time on earth and being much more aware of the behaviour around him#he learns to be critical and assess why people around him may act a certain way#once he realises that it’s possible for him or anyone else to be fallible and make mistakes it’s over for Asgard for him I think#Thor returns and Loki gives him the throne and everyone expects him to obviously have the throne#and Odin is sleeping and Thor isn’t comfortable with the way everyone accepts him as king regent after the banishment#Loki who either never lashed out against Jotunheim or did and it was brushed away and no one thinks about it as anything#but Loki is still deeply affected and acts the way he always would have but Thor can feel it’s not the same#he knows something is wrong and Loki won’t say anything about it and Thor doesn’t know how to bring it up#Thor sees Loki metaphorically receding into the shadows to become a nonpresence so loud Thor hears it even after returning from decades away#Thor goes to Earth and gets his priorities in order gets a new worldview learns not to take what he has for granted#and finds out he actually despised Asgard#he’s been back a week and he can’t stand it

BAHAHAHAHAHA!
Chris Hemsworth, please, honestly GO FUCK YOURSELF. LMAO.
Okay, so, listen, this is honestly going to be the last I ever talk about this, but the fact that I've been proven right about this jackasses involvement in this whole affair has got me laughing!
In 2017, or the year previous, who the fuck knows, Chris Hemsworth got his friend, Taika Waititi to direct Thor 3. Thor Ragnarok, which heavily diverged from the cinematography and the lore of the previous two Thor movies. Chris Hemsworth decided Thor was too boring. He didn't like playing him anymore. He wanted to play someone new and fun. He wanted to play himself. And he got just that.
I'll give Ragnarok enough credit, that aye, I might be fooled into thinking there was some interest the title character. But after Love and Thunder? No, now I know I've been fooled into watching a costume party by Chris Hemsworth, his family, and his friends. Ding ding ding! What do we have here, Johnny?
A bottom tier celebrity making a franchise that not only was all about him - his character, but all about him!!! He's playing himself!
His daughter at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, is his daughter in real life (she's cute, no diss). His two sons played younger versions of him. His wife was a wolf woman he made out with! His best friends Matt fucking Damon and Taika Waititi both star in the role and the latter directs it.
I'm sorry, but at what fucking point did I sign up for a lazy written fanfiction? Because that's sure as hell not what I thought would happen in Thor 1 or 2, or Avengers. And you know, I am still mad, because I enjoyed the OG Thor, I enjoyed the OG Loki, and Marvel and, wow, did it not pay off.
Alas, it's on me for watching any new Thor films (aye, listen, I gotta family here!), but I just wanted to tell anyone who ever said Thor is a walking self insert nowadays. You are completely and utterly spot on.
Applaud yourself.
PS. Full Review* -> Here
Have fun!

ok so i've seen a lot of ppl hating on the new thor movie so i'm going to make a list abt what i liked abt it. spoilers obviously
thor rode stormbreaker like a witch on a broom
the hammer/axe jealousy and thor trying to make them both happy
valkyrie covered in ichor with a sword
the goats screamed every time they arrived someplace new/landed
when they put the goats in the guardians' ship and it's just pure chaos as peter is trying to organize everyone to check for distress calls
the music choices were on point!
the ridiculous opening fight scene that seemed a little too good to be true (until the end)
gore! he was such a creepy villain, just so unsettling. it really creeped me out when he smiled. he did an amazing job
"so how are you guys doing?" "we're stuck in a cage made of spikes."
this isn't really about the movie but i liked seeing kamala in the opening sequence
the visuals! it was so pretty! especially the space dolphins and whenever the shadow creatures were being made. it was really cool to see how they went from flat, 2D shadows to 3 dimensional monsters- like how they came up out of the ground. so cool
New Asgard already being half destroyed after the attack in the beginning and thor and jane keep blasting holes in the council room/breaking stuff anyway
valkyrie teasing thor abt jane
the whole last scene where thor's trying to get Love (that's what i'm going to call the little girl, idk her name) to eat pancakes and put on her shoes. felt like a conversation straight out of my family's dialogue
and then thor just gave her stormbreaker!! like sir,,, that ax is as big as she is
the child army!!! that was so cool! i was like 'is he really going to use these kids as an army? i'm confused but i'm here for it' and then he did but in a much more effective way than i imagined!
i also liked how they showed how the different kids fought. some of them with rocks and things that could be actual weapons and some of them with wands and stuffies. it was amazing
thor saying he didn't like meditation, it just made him angrier. i know meditation is a good coping mechanism but whenever i try it i feel like i'm doing it wrong and just get more upset. idk that was just a little thing since ppl don't usually say that in media
at the beginning, peter saying to look into the eyes of the ppl you love and thor just doing that stupid face while sliding into view
Darrel!!! He got a job at new Asgard
When they were fighting in the shadow realm and the only color was from the lightning bolt, stormbreaker, and mjolnir
Jane using all of mjolnirs pieces as an extension of the hammer

If I had unlimited time and creativity, I'd write a fanfic swapping the villains in Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
I feel like it'd be interesting for Thor's character to be put up against Kang, wrestling with time itself amidst his losses, and Thor is much more powerful than Scott so it wouldn't be wonky to see him "defeat" Kang.
And I think it'd be hilarious for Ant-Man to be accidentally mistaken as a god in the quantum realm, C-3P0 style, and then Gorr the Godbutcher just shows up and is mad at being duped but they eventually bond and Ant-Man helps Gorr recover his daughter for the right reasons.

i just love how taika in ragnarok was like "okay, let's give thor a nice, real personality and have him finally come into his role of ruler of asrgard, let's have loki be his dramatic bitch ass self but also give him a beautiful redemption arc, let's have a traumatised yet powerful af bi female icon, let's finally give bruce the fledged out personality he deserves beyond I'm smart and don't make me angry and let's pulverise mjolnir while we're at it cause thor's not the god of hammers ffs, he has self value and power and abilities without it" and he did, he so did but then the russo bros, damn them, undid most of that in like the first 10 minutes of infinity war, something for which I will never forgive them (not even mentioning endgame and turning thor's depression into a fucking fat joke), so now taika is back, back for love and thunder and with that beautiful trailer, where we can even see thor leaving storm breaker behind, we can so sense he basically went "all right, let's do this again bitches, you can't beat me" and boy are we in for a ride

I kind of want to write a fic where Odin is about to banish Thor and Loki's watching it go down and the guilt is eating at him and right before Thor gets yeeted through the Bifrost, Loki yells, "IT WAS ME!" and, because that's actually words (and interesting words at that), Odin actually stops what he's doing to listen instead of just yelling a keyboard smash out loud, and Loki explains that he manipulated Thor into attacking Jotunheim, but it was never supposed to get that far and he's very sorry and it will never happen again. and he thinks he's mitigating the damage but instead Odin just banishes him instead (and he'd banish Thor too but he needs someone to take the throne and tbh what would it say about him as a dad if he has to banish all three of his kids?)
so then Loki ends up getting hit by Jane's car, except he's not an idiot so he doesn't run around screaming at the sky about being hammered and Darcy never has to taze him so he never ends up in the hospital so they're off to a good start already.
and they get to talking (and they're all very confused and operating under completely different understandings of the situation) and Loki figures out he's in Midgard entirely because they don't know what the Nine Realms are and Midgard is the only realm stupid enough not to know that. Jane mentions that they're scientists and Loki just kinda scoffs at that because scientists on Midgard are like childrens' tutors in Asgard, and Jane is equally offended and impressed.
and I choose to think that Odin never takes Loki's magic away the way he did to Thor's because he can't take it away. if he could, he would've done that before they threw him in the dungeon in TDW. so Loki still has his magic so it's pretty easy to convince them that he's a god (and honestly they're more convinced than he is because he just found out that he might possibly be Jotun?)
so they end up taking Loki with them (against Selvig's better judgment) because he sounds like a know-it-all and he ends up pretty much being a know-it-all so that works well for Jane. and actually it kinda maybe works too well? because she starts to fall in love with him and surprise, it's a Lokane fic and he starts to fall for her and they have babies and live happily ever after!
no jk idk what would happen but I'm thinking Mjolnir would still be out there so maybe Loki would go to check it out and he'd probably have better luck with it because he's magic so it's pretty easy to get everyone out of his way but he's definitely not worthy so he can't wield it but it does get them both tangled up with SHIELD probably?
idk apparently I can only thing of Lokane fic ideas if they have no ending so that's all I got lmao

||. an assortment of thoughts + headcanons concerning thor + previous relationships / his mentality surrounding ... being that one Resident Super Hot Guy :tm:
(none of these are fully fleshed out into words past these excerpts from my chats w a pal on discord... mostly, I just want to put them on the blog for later reckoning)
a. He was originally set to be betrothed to Lady Sif, though this was never really enforced or official so much as it was implied for as long as they've known each other. He'd have actually happily gone through with this if he hadn't met Jane??? but that's obvsly not what happened. He loves Jane and he would never choose another, ever.
b. Thor at no point ever expected he'd meet someone he'd fall in love with and trust with his heart, and he also sort of just… resigned himself to the fact that he won't marry for love, and that he WILL need to sire an heir whether he wants to or not (but he's super family coded so ofc he'd want kids of his own. It'd just suck for him a lot if it wasn't with someone he loves. he'd not blame the children for that, though.) / (more on that HERE)
c. Thor wasn't exactly a man-hoe or anything, but he is NOT a virgin in the slightest and lost that long before he met Jane, and this is from a variety of short relationships and the occasional fling… but when I say "short" and "occasional" I really do mean that… I don't think he'd get into relationships unless he felt there might be potential, but those never lasted more than a few days. He only would ever need those few to know if there could be something long-lasting.... (and usually they were done while he was out traveling the realms with the rest of his squad), I don't think he'd do flings and one-night-stands often but uh. Sometimes you really need a distraction and alcohol + s*x just kind of happen to go together in Thor's case bc he's an idiot and very careless with himself when it comes to… not being self-destructive. He'd find someone he okay with indulging, get drunk and have relations… but that said I think he'd always make it a point to treat those women nicely before, during, and especially afterwards, and he never left them high and dry bc that'd break his heart more than anything…. sooooo d. He's (unfortunately) used to being people's eye-candy and just kind of expects it at this point. When he's not perfect in the sense of "can do no wrong" or "a hero that always wins and can never be broken, no matter what comes his way", then it's just "he's so handsome and i boy am i having some Sinful Thoughts abt Prince Blondie over there" and thor just sort of …. He doesn't shrug it off, really. I think it actually makes him really uncomfortable. He just chooses to ignore it. Turn the other cheek, if you will, and give a wide berth and a blind eye, because in his mind there's nothing he can do about it =v=;;; To that end, he won't get terribly mad at anyone who does do express anything inappropriate towards him bc he DOES just expect it to happen. He reasons it away and elects to simply stay disengaged unless some lines are crossed. He does goes out of his way to dress modestly. Long sleeves when he can help it, always wearing some kind of shirt or tunic or armor, long pants (on earth, the most casual items of modern-day clothes he'll keep to are joggers. Never ever shorts.), boots, you name it. The most skin he feels comfortable showing are his arms w the sleeveless shirts but that's also partially out of it being easy to wear and great for training purposes. He actually doesn't like training w/o a shirt as an adult bc he has Learned ™️
e. Thor counts his flaws and ESPECIALLY whenever he sees or notices someone Oggling Him he'll go out of his way to remind himself of what they are. He's got a lazy eye that nobody comments on, his hair is darker than it was when he was a child, he's got callouses on his hands from the weapons he uses, when he was a child he had a gap between his front two teeth, he's got very thin scars from the occasional battle (not many, but they're there), - post!ragnarok there's also the addition of his lost right eye and eventual heterochromia … and he does it just to make a point to himself that he's .... not perfect, and if they can't spare the time to notice it then they're probably creatures to be wary of, in the long run

My initial thoughts about queer rep in Thor: Love and Thunder
So I just came back from the movie feeling pretty good about what I’d seen in terms of representation only to find out that a lot of people are really unhappy so here’s my take:
I didn’t personally really follow the press for the movie so I didn’t see that Taika and Natalie had called it “super gay”, which I definitely understand is iffy considering what was actually there. That being said, I feel like people calling the representation “blink-and-you’ll-miss it” is a little harsh. Valkyrie’s queerness was referred to several times, as was the gay nature of Korg’s species. I’ve seen blink-and-you’ll-miss-it representation and this did not feel like that to me. When my friend and I were walking home from the movie we were actively praising it for the fact that the queer elements were brought up multiple times and were actually relevant to the characters instead of, say, in Loki when his bisexuality was mentioned one time and then completely ignored for the rest of the show.
I can see why people would be disappointed if they went into the movie fully expecting a major queer romance but considering how abysmal Marvel has been in the past in terms of queer representation this movie was miles better. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t be critical of it, but I think that taking the context of Marvel and Disney into consideration is important. I would have loved it if Valkyrie had a relationship with a woman in this movie, but queer people also do not have to currently be in a gay relationship for their identity to be valid, so the fact that she was explicitly confirmed to have been with a woman in the past still counts as representation. Also, at the end of the day this is still a movie about Thor, who I don’t think anyone expected to be kissing a man, so I’m a bit surprised that people are so surprised that it was focused on the straight relationship.
Ultimately everyone is entitled to their own opinion and these discourses are always important to have, but I do think that being completely dismissive of all representation that isn’t romance-based and totally central to the plot can be a dangerous road to go down. It’s also important to be wary of putting people like Taika, who is still a (presumably) straight man at the mercy of Disney, up on pedestals because of other projects like Our Flag Means Death. There is no doubt that the queer rep in Thor 4 is not perfect, and I hope to god that Marvel actually gives us a main queer romance soon, but it’s also kind of the best we have at this point and I don’t think that should be ignored either. The sad truth is that this is a slow fight, but this movie is still an important step along the way.
