“Brother, this is an insane plan and you know it,” Loki rubbed his hand over his brow and rolled his eyes.
Thor tossed the roll of green streamers in his hand up the stairs and over the railing, “What - what plan? This party is for you! I don’t - I don’t know what you mean”
With a satisfied grin, the blonde slid into the living room to double-check the bar set up. Grass skirts, coconuts and brightly colored flowers flowed through the frat house, with bright twinkle lights illuminating the hallways. It was going to be a perfect night.
To celebrate his brother, of course. No other reason.
“Thor, if you wanted to impress this girl, you could have just asked her out like a normal person,” the dark-haired man quipped as he followed his brother through the house.
“This party is for you! We’re excited to have you in our fraternity, let us celebrate that! The fact that the yellow of these flowers compliment Gracie’s blue eyes has nothing to do with anything,” Thor paused, running a hand into his long blonde hair, “I mean, uh, what girl? I don’t even know who you’re talking about”
He watched his brother narrow his eyes at him, his signature smirk settling on his face as he leaned against the door frame, arms crossed in front of his chest.
"Of course, you don't," he chuckled. "I'm certainly not talking about the girl who could very well take you in beer pong any day of the week. Or the girl who laughs at all of your jokes no matter how ridiculously not funny they are."
Thor swayed back and forth on his legs, looking anywhere but at Loki's face knowing his true intentions had already absolutely been made but determined to hide the fact that he was itching for Gracie to walk through the door. That big, sweet smile on her face with her long brown hair that smelled like cherry blossoms falling down her back.
He knew he had it bad for her. He also knew that his friends, especially his brother, were going to make his life miserable because he just might make a fool of himself, but Thor didn't care.
“She laughs at my jokes because they are funny, brother. It’s you who thinks that they aren’t funny. And what if this whole party had an ulterior motive? I want to see her and be around her. Plus, I just don’t know how to actually ask her out. I choked when I tried to do that, which is why I invited her to the party instead!” Thor hated being this vulnerable, especially around Loki.
Loki studied him, taping his finger against his face. "Then I suppose we should make it a party she never forgets then."
"Aye! I knew you would be excited!" Thor shook his brother by the shoulders, redirecting him into the kitchen where Korg was setting up the drink bar.
"I found it," he held up a pretty bottle of light blue booze that looked like the ocean, "it was the last bottle, unlucky for the little old lady that tried to take it from me. Put up quite the fight."
Thor smiled brightly as he nodded toward Korg. "Yes! You can’t have Jungle Juice without that stuff. It makes everything taste like Kool-aid."
Meanwhile, Loki sighed, very likely thinking he just might want to hole up in his room with a book for the party's duration. "The last time you made that, everyone went streaking down the street, you realize that, right?"
"But that's what makes it more fun!" Thor encouraged, clapping his brother on the shoulders. He walked over to the kitchen counter and began cutting up the fruit that would be going into the cooler for the juice concoction.
As he continued to prep, Thor let his mind wander to the beautiful girl he was hoping would show up tonight. Not that she would ever miss a party, but that small part of him always feared that he would have to go a day without hearing her musical laugh take over his mind, or not get to see the way her eyes lit up when it started raining.
The way her dark hair flowed over her shoulders, covering the small sunflower tattoo that sat on her shoulder blade. It was how he'd gotten his nickname for her. That and the special way she brightened any room she walked into.
"Thor!" A booming voice sounded through the kitchen and pulled the blonde from inside his head.
Shaking his head once, he peered up and grinned when he saw Sam standing in front of him, "Wilson! How's it going, man?" He rounded the counter and slapped his hand into his friends, "DJ booth is set up in the backyard for you! Creative freedom my friend, whatever you want to play to get everyone dancing!"
"Man you know everyone's always dancing when I'm around," he said, puffing up his chest proudly, "I also have a little something for you in the mix so you can make the move on your girl."
Thor felt the heat creep up his cheeks at the comment as Sam wiggled his brows playfully. Clearly, he hadn't been as good at hiding his feelings from his friends as he thought.
"Secret's safe with me, just please do something about that tonight for the love of god."
He smiled and tapped the blonde's shoulder as he made his way through the kitchen. Thor turned quickly shouting in his direction before he made it out the sliding door, "No Marvin Gaye tonight, Wilson!" he shouted.
"Boy everybody loves some Marvin Gaye!" Sam roared back from the backyard swinging his hands up in the air as the others snickered in the kitchen.
Thor was getting nervous. Dancing with her will put him in very close proximity to her. Touching her and smelling that sweet smell that always drove him insane. There was something about her that attracted him to her like a moth to a flame. “Right. Let’s not go there.” He mumbled under his breath.
“Let’s not go where?” Thor turned around and saw Quill with a condescending smile on his face. He didn’t like that smile. For some reason, it made him nervous.
“Oh, nothing. Just talking to myself. Making sure that everything is good for the party. You know, have enough to drink, make sure that the ping pong table is set up for the beer pong tournament later. That sort of thing.” He was rambling now, and he was hoping that Quill didn’t catch on to that.
“Beer pong, you say?” he asks. “I’m great at beer pong. In fact, I can and will kick everyone’s asses.” Thor knew that he was bragging about himself and knew damn well that Quill always did this when he wanted to get his competitive side out to play. He couldn’t have that. He needed this night to go perfectly.
Thor rolled his eyes. He didn't know why Quill always got an invite to his parties, but he did. "I guess we'll have to see how good your skill is later then," he smiled.
Peter grabbed a beer from the cooler and nodded smugly, "Oh you definitely will," and with that, he sauntered off into the forming crowd.
From that point on, the front door of the house didn't close for a second as person after person piled in and the party grew. Thor greeted his friends, smiling at them as they wandered through, clapping him on the shoulder and already telling him what a great party this was. But his eyes never left the front door, just waiting for the pair of blue eyes he'd been longing to see all day.
"Hey man," A familiar voice slung his arm around Thor's neck and pulled his attention away as he focused on the man in front of him, "Thanks for the invite! Pía and I love your parties, but the luau theme for Loki seems a bit strange," Bucky joked.
"Loki loves luau's," Thor chuckled nervously, flickering his eyes back to the door as more people walked in.
Pía giggled and shook her head as she wrapped her arms around Bucky's waist, "No Gracie loves luau’s, I don't think Loki cares at all," she nodded her head towards the wall where the dark hair man was leaning, scanning the crowd with a soft mischievous grin on his lips.
Thor groaned, "Wow P, I thought we were friends."
Bucky chuckled into Pía's hair as he pulled her closer to him and she smiled brightly. "We are you big lug but, so are Gracie and I aaand I already put in some good words for you... though I didn't really have to sell you much."
The brunette winked at Thor and he smiled bashfully. Gracie and Pía were good friends, it was how he was introduced to her in the first place. In a writing class neither of them- or their friends frankly - knew why they were taking but they were still happy to be there and their poems weren't half bad either.
"Just be you T, that's what makes her smile."
Just be you. “Easier said than done, P,” he mumbled, remembering how tongued tied and nervous he got every time he tried to talk to her. “But I’ll try just for you.”
“Good. Now, where-“but Pia’s words muffled into the background as Thor’s vision snapped to the doorway. All of his focus was on the one person that had  just come through the door.
She’s here.
Gracie walked through the front door of the house, her brown hair partially pulled back with a flower tucked into it. Her outfit was bright, consisting of a Hawaiian shirt tied into a crop at her waist and a grass skirt, a small sliver of sunkissed skin peeking out between the two.
Thor couldn't make himself look away until Bucky tapped him on the side of the head. "Hey - hi!"
"Hey Thor," Gracie grinned as she sauntered over, doing a quick spin in front of him, "What do you think? Is this on theme?"
Thor's bright eyes travelled over her, and suddenly his mouth felt dry. Everything escaped his mind and he knew that he was just staring at her but the right combination of words wouldn't form on his tongue. The small sliver of sunkissed skin that peeked out between her shirt and the top of her grass skirt captured all of his attention.
"I - you look," Pía nudged his ribs and made him shake his head once, "you look great, very Hawaiian,"
Bucky sighed from beside him, and tried to stifle a laugh, "How about we get you girls a drink?"
With that, he placed a kiss onto Pía's temple, and wrapped his arm around Thor, pulling him away towards the bar, "what the hell was that, man?" he mumbled with a smirk when they were away from the girls.
Thor groaned, tilting his head back as they made their way into the kitchen causing Bucky to laugh again. "Seriously Thor, if you're gonna make any move onto Gracie then you have to actually put a sentence together."
He leaned against the counter, gripping the edge of it as Pia and Gracie made their way through the sea of people stopping every few moments to talk to someone else. His focus was solely on the girl whose smile lit up the entire room and every fibre within him. A small plastic shot glass thumped him directly in the forehead.
"Earth to Thor." Bucky grinned, "Did you even hear a word I said?"
Thor tossed the plastic shot glass back at his friend, "Every time I look at her, I turn into this... giant puddle of Gracie-made Jello. How am I supposed to talk to her?"
Bucky scrunched his face, "that was probably the most disgusting thing I've heard. Gracie made jello?" He shook his head with a quick shudder of his shoulders as the corners of his mouth turned up, "Ask her to play a game. Start there and see where the night takes ya, pal." He handed two cups to Thor, "Talking to a girl you like isn't as scary as it feels."
"Easy for you to say," Thor countered. "You can talk to anyone in this room. Once she actually talks to me I just... clam up," he grumbled. "It sucks."
Bucky's laugh echoed through the kitchen and he shook his head, before pounding back a shot of whiskey, "Man, you remember how long it took me to talk to Pía right? And even then she was the one who barged into my dorm and made me talk," he placed his hand on Thor's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze, "now take a shot and go play darts with your girl"
"She's not my girl," Thor mumbled before grabbing the shot from in front of him and swallowing it down. His blue eyes drifted back over to Gracie and a soft smile tugged at his lips as her laugh eclipsed the room. He grabbed two of the jello shots and with a deep breath, headed in her direction.
He could do this.
Thor cleared his throat loudly and interrupted the monologue the girls had managed to get Tony started on, "Sorry to steal Gracie away, but she promised to do a shot with me, and it's time to pay up," he managed to get out with a slight shake in his breath.
"Oh yes of course," Gracie linked her arm with his, making his breath catch in his throat, "Sorry Tony, not that this conversation about nuclear physics isn't riveting but I did promise," She shrugged quickly before pulling Thor across the room.
She tugged his body, though she didn't have to pull him along behind her very hard. Thor would follow her no matter where she went. She lead them towards a corner of the room that wasn't as crowded as the rest before dropping his arm and leaning against the wall behind her. Gracie smiled up at him with a sigh, "You have perfect timing." She cooed.
Thor sucked in a breath, mourning the loss of her warmth against his skin as he shoved out a jello shot toward her. "Tony likes to talk."
She smiled, taking the shot from him. Her fingers brushed against his own forcing his eyes wide at the subtle shock his system felt. "The last thing I wanted to do tonight was listen to him drone on about some other new extravagant project he started. We all know he's going to take over the world with robots, he doesn't have to remind us every five minutes." Gracie laughed holding up her shot. "Ready Thunder?"
“Not at all,” he muttered under his breath but diffused her perplexed expression with a wide grin.
He tapped his shot against hers and then tipped it into his mouth, keeping his eyes on Gracie as she did the same. He coughed and spluttered at the sight of his Sunflower, head thrown back and eyes closed, giving a groan of satisfaction as the sweetness of the jelly hit her tongue.
Her eyes whipped open as she eyed him with concern at his choking.
“You OK there big guy?”
Thor cleared his throat and coughed once more as he nodded. "J-just went down wrong," he answered. Thor wiped his mouth with his hand, hoping there wasn't a mess all over his face. "Did you like that flavor? I... I can get you another one."
Gracie giggled and nodded her head, "I love every flavor, but you know I'm always up for anything," She grinned widely and placed her hand on his bicep, "ANOTHER!" she called, shooting the plastic cup high into the air and watching as it landed perfectly in the garbage bag that hung off the door to the back yard.
Thor's eyes widened and flickered between her and the shot she just made as the crowd erupted into applause and hollers. That's his Sunflower.
"That was incredible!" The blonde grinned at her, grabbing two more from a tray Natasha was holding on her way outside.
"Hey, that was for Clint! If we get him drunk enough he said he'll shoot stuff off someone's head with his bow!" She quipped, furrowing her brow.
"Last time he did that he shot a hole in the side of the house!"
Natasha grinned, stealing the shots right out of Thor's hands, "He promised Loki he'd shoot at the giant tree instead this time." She tossed him a wink before sliding out of the back door.
"That could be interesting," Gracie grinned looping her arm through his, "C'mon big guy, let's get more shots and go see if Clint can shoot a beer can off my head."
Thor followed in the direction that Gracie pulled him like an eager puppy, practically projecting heart eyes at her back as she led them through the room and out into the backyard.
There was a group of people gathered by the largest tree in the yard, whooping encouragement at a grinning Clint, who span in slow circles with his bow raised. He saw Thor over the crowd and pointed his bow at him, waving him over to join them but Thor shook his head with a smile.
They found another tray of jello shots, grape this time, and Gracie picked up two with a whoop.
“Down the hatch!” She almost shouted, jumping with enthusiasm as he matched her energy and downed two shots of his own.
Gracie cheered loudly, managing to distract herself enough that she stumbled and crashed into Thor’s chest, who wrapped a protective arm around her. He thought his heart would explode when she stared up at him and giggled sweetly, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth.
"Easy there," he said softly, hoping she could hear him. "Let's not get yourself hurt," Thor swore he could see Gracie's cheeks turn pink as she patted both hands against his chest.
"I'm okay!" she hollered over the music. "Do you dance?" she asked, having already forgotten about Clint and his bow. It probably wouldn't have been the best idea anyway.
Thor prayed she couldn’t feel his pounding heart deep in his chest. This was farther than he’d ever imagined actually getting with her, and the way the twinkle lights caught the blue of her iris’ get distracting him from the actual events happening all around them.
“Of - of course, I dance, I’m a great dancer,” he stuttered, his gaze snapping up from her as Sam hollered at him.
Gracie nodded her head towards the crowd of people swaying in the middle of the yard and grabbed his hand, interlacing their fingers.
“Alright, alright, this next one goes out to our gracious host! Thor Odinson and the fraternity of Gamma Asgard Chi!”
Sweet Child of Mine by Guns n’ Roses blared through the speakers and the wide grin on Gracie’s face told him everything.
She jumped up and down as the words of the song flowed like a melody out of her lips, and Thor could have sworn everything inside of him melted at the sight of his girl singing his favourite song word for word.
Thor grinned watching her, his heart pounding and heat creeping up his neck. His eyes flickered to Sam who tossed him a wink and encouraging nod. Gracie lifted his hand in the air above her as she twirled, laughing with her head tilted back and eyes crinkled with joy. He sucked in a deep breath and began to move with her. She dropped her hand from him, smiling and singing away as she stepped in front of him and swayed with the song.
Gracie stumbled slightly in the grass again and on instinct his hands shot out to her waist, holding her steady. What he didn't expect was for her to lean back into his chest, her hands up in the air and giggled peering over her shoulder up at him. Her eyes twinkled under the light as she mouthed a thank you to him.
The broadest grin in the world spread across his face, making his cheeks ache joyfully. Then, to his utter disbelief, Gracie wrapped one of her arms around the back of his neck and twirled her fingers through strands of his hair. She swayed her hips to the music, rubbing against him, and he swallowed thickly.
He tried to move the lower half of his body away, just a little, but Gracie took her other hand and laced her fingers through his where they rested on her hip and pulled him closer.
Thor took a deep breath before deciding to go with it. He rested his head on her shoulder and swayed his hips with her along with the music. "You're a pretty good dancer," he said into her ear so she could hear him." Across the yard, he could see Peter as he leaned against the house, his eyes locked on Gracie. I don't think so.
"Thor! Gracie!" A chirpy voice sounded through the crowd bringing Thor's attention back to the crowd just as Wanda wrapped her arms around Gracie.
"Hey, you two! Having a good time?" Thor asked as he clapped his hand into Vision’s, with a wide grin.
"Always! You guys do throw the best parties on campus," Wanda complimented, flashing a knowing smile at him as her eyes moved between him and the brunette beside his side, "We won't keep you though, we just wanted to say hi! We'll come find you later!" The redhead grinned, pulling her boyfriend away with her.
Thor shook his head with an awkward laugh and watched them walking away, Wanda mouthing something to him and pointing between the two of them. He watched as she turned her attention back to Vision, wrapping her arms around his neck with a soft smile and placing a kiss on his jawline. It made Thor's heart soar to see his friends finally happy together.
As he spun to grab Gracie once more, he was meant with Quill's cocky smirk and watched as he tried to wrap his arm around Gracie's waist.
"Come on, sweetheart, dance with me!" He cooed, a pout coming to his lips, "You know I'm a better dancer than that meathead!"
"I wouldn't say that," Gracie strained attempting to pull herself from Quill's grip, "ugh Peter you smell like a dive bar."
"Just havin' a good time, beautiful, which clearly you aren't here with this guy." Quill jutted his chin in Thor's direction. Annoyance flooded him as he shoved Quill's shoulder.
"Pretty sure she doesn't want you touching her Quill. Keep your hands to yourself." Thor warned as the idiot in front of him threw up his hands in mock surrender with a snide grin.
He felt Gracie step around him, her fingers tangling into the hem of his shirt, "C'mon let's get something to drink." She pleaded as her eyes flickered from him to Quill.
"Oh don't be like that Gracie girl, come play beer pong with me! If you win I'll give you a prize." Quill winked and licked his lips, making Thor grimace with disgust.
“Ew, no,” Gracie squealed, screwing up her nose and shaking her head.
“C’mon Gracie, unless you’re… chicken?”
Gracie froze mid-turn and Thor could feel Peter’s challenge thrumming through her veins. She trembled as she warred with herself, wanting to ignore the arrogant junior but aching to put him in his place. Thor saw the moment she’d decided and just as she began to turn back he blurted words he’d probably regret later.
“I’ll do it! I mean, I’ll play you at beer pong.”
Quill eyed him with interest. “What are the stakes?”
“I’ll dance with the winner!” Gracie offered, although the grimace she gave told Thor she’d spoken before thinking… again.
“Nice. I’m down,” Quill nodded, making his way over to the beer pong table.
“Come on, Thunder,” Gracie smiled weakly. “You gotta win for me. There’s only one pair of hands I want on my ass tonight when I’m dancing and they sure ain’t Quill’s.”
Thor's eyes widened but his smile broadened. "I'll win for you, Gracie. I have no doubt."
"I'm counting on you, big guy," She winked, taking his hand in hers as they followed Peter back into the dining room.
There was loud cheering flowing through the house and when they entered it became apparent why. Miek and Bruce had taken over the beer pong table and had apparently been beating everyone in the room. With four cups still in front of them, Bruce turned his back to the table and sunk another shot, leaving Steve and Bucky with only one cup left.
"Let's go, Bruce!!" Natasha screamed, nudging her shoulder into Tony.
Stark through his hands in the air and looked up at the ceiling, "Oh come on! He's cheating!"
"Don't be such a sore loser, Stark!" Natasha quipped.
"He's using math to win, that's cheating!"
"Just because you weren't smart enough to figure out the formula, doesn't mean I can't" Bruce shot back with a wide grin.
An echo of "ouus" sounded through the room as Tony shook his head and stormed back outside, leaving them to finish their game. Thor smiled once again and nodded as he watched his friends enjoying themselves, until he felt a small squeeze on his hand, bringing his attention back to the woman beside him.
"You got this right?" Gracie smiled softly.
"I would never let you down," Thor answered softly.
Something akin to pride flickered in her eyes as she flashed him another one of her winning smiles and turned her attention back to the table, cheering with the crowd when Bruce landed his ball in the last cup on Steve and Bucky's side.
"Come on man!" Steve cursed, picking up the cup and chugging it down. Pia wrapped herself around Bucky from behind. His friend's eyes flickered over to him and then down to where his and Gracie's hands were still connected. Pia flashed him a knowing grin as Quill pushed through the group of celebratory high-fives.
"Alright, you losers! Time to give up the table!" He hollered.
"That's not how that works Quill!"
Thor sighed shaking his head, "Let'em have the table boys, I've got some ass to kick." Suddenly confident as he smirked at Quill.
Thor stepped up to Bucky’s side of the table where his friend was already setting up more cups while Pía grabbed some more beer to fill them with.
“Playing for your girl?” Bucky smirked.
“She’s not my…”
“Yeah he is,” Gracie grinned, bouncing on her feet and clapping her hands. “He’s fighting for my honor like a knight in shining armor!”
Thor rubbed his hand down his face as Bucky handed him the ball and then he turned to Quill who’d taken up position at the other end of the table.
Quill smirked and Thor rolled his shoulders and cricked his neck, rolling the ball between his large hands.
“Do you need me to blow on it for luck?” Gracie asked him.
Turning to look at Gracie, Thor swore his mouth was hitting the floor. She'd gotten really bold tonight, but he wasn't complaining in the slightest. "Sure," he told her, putting the ball in front of her. "My beautiful good luck charm."
Her slender fingers wrapped around his wrist carefully bringing his hand closer to her lips. He silently cursed the gods as his gaze met hers and she parted her lips making a soft o shape and blew gently. Gracie's warm breath fanned over his fingers and the chanting around them faded into muffled white noise as he stared at the girl who had been the object of his obsession for months.
She pulled back, letting her hand linger for a moment before giving him an encouraging nod toward the table.
"T-thanks" he stuttered with a lopsided grin finding it hard to peel his gaze away from her.
"Are you two done? Or can we get on to me winning now?" Quill's sharp voice broke the trance he was in as he dragged his eyes to the drunken fool on the other side of the table.
“You gonna blow my balls now too? Fair’s fair,” Quill added with a leer.
“From what I can see you only have one, and even that’s debatable,” Gracie quipped and Thor couldn’t help the snort of laughter that left his lips.
“That’s my girl,” he rumbled, his adoration for his Sunflower overriding his nerves for once.
Or maybe it was the shots.
“Am I?” Gracie asked sweetly, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“I…I mean…” he blustered.
“Just take the damn shot Odinson,” Quill shouted.
With a growl of frustration, Thor launched the ball towards the other end of the table, fully intending to clobber Quill between the eyeballs with it but it landed squarely in one of the cups.
“Ha! Drink up, Quill!” Thor was surprised he got the first one in. If he continued to focus on trying to hit Quill’s face, maybe, he’d win this thing. And maybe he’d actually get one in between his eyeballs.
“Yes!” Gracie yelled,  jumping with excitement. At the other end of the table, Quill groaned in disapproval.
But Thor didn’t even acknowledge Quill or anyone else around them. He just kept looking at Gracie and the smile that lit up her face. He was utterly fucked. Fuck.
“My turn now, Thunder boy,” Quill shouted from the other side of the table. “This is the only one you’ll be able to get.”
“Oh yeah? Why’s that, Quill? You think I can’t actually beat you in this or is it that you’re scared now?” He volleyed back, gaining confidence.
“No,” Quill said with a mocking smile, “I am not scared. You won’t be able to get another shot because you’ll be too drunk to do it.”
Thor watched as Quill launched a ball and it banked off a cup and onto the table, making Thor chuckle. "Miss!"
"Come on! It's distracting in here!" Quill countered.
Rolling his eyes, Thor picked up the ball and launched it into the air. He smirked as it sank into the second cup. "Two to one."
“You’re doing so good Thor, I knew you would,” Gracie encouraged.
Bucky and Pía shot Thor a pointed look and he rolled his eyes so damn hard that he missed Quill planting a ball into one of his cups.
“Shit,” Thor hissed in frustration, shooting the bet as quickly as he could but landed his next throw squarely in one of Quill’s cups.
“Another hit!” Gracie squealed with excitement, wrapping her hands around Thor’s bicep and squeezing tightly.
Thor focused on the way her hands were, so soft and warm against his skin - and thinking of other places where he wanted both of her hands.
“Thor?” she asked, with a heavy breath.
“Wha-. Oh yes, the game. Sorry, got distracted for a moment.” He got distracted alright.
He chuckled and stepped back as Quill hit in a second shot, making the score even back out. Thor grumbled as he rolled the Ping pong ball in his hand for a few seconds before he took his shot just as Quill bumped the table, causing him to miss. "Hey! That's foul play!"
"What are you talking about?!" Quill shouted back, "You hit the table yourself!!"
Hollers and input sounded from the crowd as they argued about whose fault it was. There was no way Thor was going to lose to Quill because he was a cheater. His blue eyes drifted down to the brunette beside him before looking back up, seeing Clint standing beside the table, closer to Quill's side.
Thor stuck his fingers in his mouth and whistled, silencing the room, "Barton, you're closest, what's the call?"
Clint thought for a moment, looking between the two players. He was one of Thor's most honest friends and there was no way the guy everyone referred to as Hawkeye was going to miss any details of the play. He was the best ref they could have asked for.
"Foul on the table, Quill loses a cup and Thor gets the ball back!" Clint concluded, earning a groan and protest from Peter, but with one look from Clint, he knew the decision was final.
The game pressed on almost going cup for cup as the boys played for Gracie's honor. It seemed silly in his mind that this was how he had to prove himself, and he knew deep down that she would never go for someone like Quill, but Thor's competitive spirit surged through his veins, needing to protect his sunflower from the dark rain cloud that was Peter Quill. His cocky attitude somehow always won him the favor of many girls on campus, but not this one. Not his girl.
It came down to Peter having one cup in front of him, while Thor had two. The tension in the room from the crowd that had gathered could have been cut with a knife and a flash of pride rose in Thor's chest. Everyone loved a good competition.
“Son of a bitch!” Thor exclaimed as Peter’s ball hit the rim of the cup and teetered for a moment before plopping into the beer.
Quill proceeded to thrust his hips like he was in a solitary dance-off, jeering loudly at Thor.
The blonde giant looked down at his Sunflower, almost cringing at the desperation in her eyes.
“I’m supposed to dance with you, Thor,” she whispered, and he felt her finger wrap around his.
He didn’t even realise what was happening until it did. Gracie slipped the ball out of his hand and he swore she didn’t even break eye contact with him as she tossed it. It was only the cheers from the crowd and Bucky’s slap to his shoulder that told him she’d landed the shot.
But he didn't care about that or anything else except the woman that was looking back at him with heat in her eyes. "How did you do that?” he asks impressed by his little Sunflower.
“I have a few tricks up my sleeve,” Gracie winked up at him, coming closer to him, “Plus, I wasn’t going to let him win because all night I’ve wanted a reason to do this-”
She kissed him. It took him a second for his brain to catch up with what was happening but when he did, he kissed her back. He kissed her like a man starved for water. They moved apart, both of them breathing heavily. But Thor wasn’t done with her. Gaining confidence, he placed his hands on the sides of her neck and kissed her again, bringing her closer to his body.
His hands tangled into her hair, exploring every inch of her skin and it was just as soft if not more than he’d ever dreamed. Tiny flickers of electricity danced from his fingertips, tickling her skin and making her wiggle beneath his touch. The movement only made him want more. The entire party seemed to fall into a hazy thrum, everything was Gracie and nothing else mattered.
“Whoa,” Gracie seemed to breathe out as they pulled apart. “Was that Lightning?” She asked pressing her hand against his around her neck.
“They don’t call me the Prince of Thunder for nothing,” he laughed tucking his face against hers with the brush of his nose.
Thor chuckled, pink dusting his cheeks as he gazed down at Gracie. Everyone roared around them and patted Thor on his back, but he ignored it all. He only had one person on his mind. "Do you want to get away from all of the noise?" he asked, hoping that she'd be able to hear him.
Her bottom lip found a home between her teeth as she looked up at him through thick lashes and nodded her head softly.
Thor leaned down and stole another quick kiss as the tips of his fingers trailed down her arms to find her hands and wrap his fingers into hers. The two of them ignored the "ouu"s that echoed through the crowd as Thor pulled his girl through the house, leading her up the stairs and into his room, thanking the gods that he'd remembered to clean up before the party.
Pulling her into his body and wrapping his hands around his waist, Thor kicked his door shut behind them, shutting out the world so he could focus solely on the beautiful girl in his arms. His fingers teased the small bit of visible skin that peaked out between her shirt and the top of her grass skirt as he leaned down and pressed his lips back to Gracie's.
"Sorry," he whispered, pressing his forehead into hers and rubbing the tips of their noses together, "you have no idea how long I've waited to kiss you,"
“Are you okay? With the kiss, with this, with us. With me dragging you here to my room and away from our friends?” he asked her in a soft voice, thinking of how forward it looked bringing her in here, but he needed the quiet and the privacy of his room to say what he needed to say.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Better than okay.”
“Okay, I’m glad because I have a confession to make,” he prepared himself mentally for what he needed to say. He was ready to just blurt it out before he lost his nerve.
Thor sat on the bed and pulled Gracie down next to him. He shook out his hands and took a deep breath.
“Oh my god, is this that moment when the guy tells the girl he’s been crushing on her for years?!” Gracie gasped, pressing her hands across her mouth in the way she always does when she was trying to joke.
Completely thrown by her interruption Thor just gaped at her. He couldn’t tell if she was excited or disgusted.
“I… well, I mean, if you want it to be?” He mumbled, his face flaming.
“Oh Thunder, look at you, all pink-cheeked and lost for words. You’re adorable.”
Thor admired her, brushing his hand over her face. “I—,” he paused, I can do this he thought to himself. “There was a moment and it sounds cheesy but promise to listen?” he said trying to explain.
“Of course Thor,” she shifted beneath him, ready for his story.
“I was sitting cross legged on the west lawn because professor fury wanted fresh air and it was terribly grey that, I was frustrated with the yarn.” His brows kissed, “but you came down the steps, late for class and the clouds parted letting in the most beautiful streak of light. It highlighted the golden streaks in your hair and the way your eyes sparkle. The string didn’t matter anymore, the gods had shown me everything I ever needed.”
Gracie expression softened as she kissed him gently. “My sweet Prince,” she smiled, “it wasn’t the gods, when you are frustrated or angry the skies are grey, when you are happy and free we see nothing but sun.”
Thors fingers brushed against the sunflower on her shoulder. Thinking about how often it rained when Gracie was near and the answer was never. He swallowed tightly, nervous from his confession. His sunflower watching him with hazy, tipsy eyes.
Thor's blue eyes looked up to meet hers, scanning over her features as that feeling deep inside calmed itself like it always had when Gracie was near. The anxiety and fear melted away, bringing to light the full feeling of what he wanted to tell her. What he'd wanted to tell her for a long time.
"I have had a crush on you, since that day you stumbled in late for class and I saw that bright, magnetic smile for the first time," he whispered, running his tongue along his bottom lip and taking in a shaky breath as he placed his hand on the side of her neck, tangling his fingers into the baby hairs at the back of her neck, "The way your just you without fear, how you laugh at my dumb jokes, but I only make dumb jokes because they make you laugh. I love - seeing you happy. The way your eyes light up when it thunderstorms and the little doodles you draw in notebook instead of listening during class," he breathed out a laugh.
"Thor..." Gracie smiled, placing her hand on his chest with a soft smile, keeping her eyes on him.
Leaning forward, Thor placed his forehead against hers and squeezed his eyes shut, rubbing the tip of his nose against hers.
"I think I love you, my beautiful Sunflower," he whispered.
“Oh!” She breathed, her lips close to his. “I’m so relieved.”
“You are?” He asked softly, not wanting to burst what they’d created.
“Yeah I am, because in my first day in macramé, when I was panicking because my alarm hadn’t gone off and I couldn’t find my string, I ran into the seminar room and there was this giant goofball grinning at me. I thought the world had stopped turning, and then you patted the seat next to you and I thought my heart would explode.”
She sniffled a little and Thor pulled back just to check she was alright.
“See!” Gracie exclaimed. “That’s what I mean! You’re always there, making sure I’m alright.”
He shrugged, as if it were no big thing but it was, to her.
“I love you too, Thor.”
Thor smiled feeling like the weight of a thousand worlds has been lifted from his shoulders. He had thought of a thousand and one ways this moment could've gone since that fateful first sight of his sweet girl and he never even thought it'd be with her saying she loved him too. Once more her calm melodic voice had let him see the light amidst whatever grey might be laying beneath his stormy blues, and never wanted to imagine his life without her light again.
He dipped his lips to hers and whispered, "I'm just gonna kiss you now," a bashful chuckle slipping from his lips.
"Don't leave me holding my breath here, lover boy," she smiled, squeezing lightly atop his knee where her hand rested.
Their hands explored each other in new ways, like the landscape had changed in the few short moments they had been alone. Thor's heart was beating a million miles an hour and never before in his life had he been so happy for the adrenaline rush. The party downstairs was muted but the vibrations of the music thrummed up through his bed and into his veins as his lips crashed down on hers.
Kissing her felt like everything all at once. Like his favorite music, the sun first thing in the morning, the way the breeze cooled in the fall. Gracie replaced all of those things.
Thor ran his lips along her jaw as he turned and slowly laid her back onto his bed. “Gracie… can I… can I touch you? Explore you?” He breathed.
A soft whine dripped from her lips and Gracie nodded her head as she arched her back to press into him, bring their bodies closer together. Thor's mind was swimming with every possibility of how this night was going to go, but he relished the moment of having his girl - his sunflower wrapped in his arms.
"I need to hear you say it beautiful," he whispered against her skin, "please"
"Thor kiss me, touch me, show me how much you love me," she breathed out, taking his face in her hands and attaching their lips together.
He tried to stifle the groan that fell from his lips as his tongue found it's way into her mouth. His large hands slid down her body and found the exposed sliver of skin, tracing it with his fingertips and teasing her skin, living in all the sounds that came from deep within her.
“Is this really happening?” She whispered against his ear and Thor couldn’t stop the chuckle that bubbled up from deep within his chest.
“It really is, Sunflower,” he murmured back, drawing his fingers up her side as their kisses resumed once more.
Gracie giggled at the tickling trail his fingers made but her humour quickly turned to gasps of pleasure as he palmed her breast through her shirt.
“Off,” she insisted, “take it off!”
Thor didn’t have to be told twice. He gently helped her sit up before he removed her top, his lips instantly exploring any bit of skin he could reach.
He moaned, feeling as Gracie ram her fingers beneath his shirt, following the planes of his abs. “Gracie…”
A low chuckle came from deep within his chest as Thor sat up and pulled his dark t-shirt over his head, tossing it somewhere in his dark room. He peered down at the beautiful girl beneath him and shook his head once. A part of him was still in shock that she wanted him just as much as he wanted her.
"Fuck you're beautiful," she giggled, trailing her fingers up his abdomen lightly.
A noise that was a mix between a laugh and a growl escaped him, "I should be saying that to you, my love," he mumbled, leaning down to press light kisses to her stomach, trailing them upwards as he explored every inch of her exposed skin.
“Well you can say that last part again,” Gracie smirked, which quickly turned into a gasp as his lips wrapped around her nipple.
“You mean, my love?” He asked.
“Mmmhmm.”
“I’ll say it until you are tired of hearing it.  My love,” he said, pressing kisses between her breasts as he move to tease her other nipple, each kiss punctuated by the words she’d asked to hear.
One hand slid down her torso and he teased his fingers along the waistband of her grass skirt drinking in the soft groans that she made.  Feeling bold and self-indulgent, Thor left her breast and trailed his lips up and across to her shoulder.  Pausing for a moment, almost in disbelief, he took in her form, the way she looked with eyes closed and head thrown back.  She was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.
He lowered his head once more, tracing the sunflower on her shoulder with first his lips  and then his tongue, earning himself more of her delicious sounds before he kissed his way back up to her mouth and captured her lips in a blistering kiss.
Thor felt as she fingers fumbled with the button of his jeans, making him chuckled as he reluctantly pulled away from her mouth.
“Do you need help?” He asked teasingly.
Gracie groaned and laughed, shaking her head as her arms came up and pressed on his shoulders, flipping him over. She settled her legs on either side of his hips and smirked playfully, peering down through her thick lashes.
"Nope, I can do it," she quipped back.
Thor ran his tongue over his bottom lip and watched her work as his hands found purchase on her ribs, she popped the button on his jeans and grinned confidently.
"God Gracie," Thor groaned, moving his hips up and pressing into her so she could feel what she was doing to him.
Gracie hummed, and leaned down, bringing his ear lobe between her teeth, "What do you want, baby boy?"
“You, gods, always you,” he groaned as she ground her hips against his.
Shimmying downwards, she pulled his jeans and boxers down his legs, biting her lip at the sight of his obvious arousal.
“That’s not fair, you’re not…” Thor began to protest but Gracie stopped him.
“I haven’t finished yet,” she grinned, shucking off her skirt, the shorts underneath and her panties, leaving them both naked.
She stared at him for the longest moment, taking in all of him in his golden glory.  It was an unfamiliar feeling for Thor, being so vulnerable beneath the one who held his entire heart.
“Get back here Sunflower,” he joked but he knew she’d heard the secret vulnerability behind his words.
He tugged gently on her fingers bringing her back to him. She crawled across him, settling her hips against his. Skin against skin Thor lost control again, his lightning tickling at his fingertips as she kissed his stomach, creating a tender path toward his chest.
He tugged gently on her fingers bringing her back to him. She crawled across him, settling her hips against his. Skin against skin Thor lost control again, his lightning tickling at his fingertips as she kissed his stomach, creating a tender path toward his chest.
“Shit…” Thor’s head dropped to the mattress as he concentrated on the feeling of her hot lips on his skin. “That feels so good,” he murmured quietly, his hands slowly roaming any bit of skin he could reach.
Thor nearly whined when she stopped to say, “I like when you talk to me.”
He pressed his body down into the mattress in any attempt to slow the burning that coiled in the pit of his stomach as she kissed a line up his jaw.
“Don’t go quiet on me big boy,” she laughed, pushing back against him just to draw a ragged moan from his lips.
“What… do you want me to say?” He breathed. Thor held Gracie’s hips as he gently pressed upward, rubbing his cock against her.
“Shit Gracie,” he swore as she rolled her hips against him, sliding his full length between her legs as she crashed down against him for a kiss. “Keep doing that,” he breathed as she broke for air.
“This,” she pushed back against sliding against him causing his whole body to stutter beneath her. He couldn’t believe how good she felt and even in his wildest dreams it compared nothing to this.
“Yes!” He moaned, trying to roll against her as best as he could. “That… a lot more of that.”
Gracie placed her hands on Thor's broad chest and pushed herself up, grinding her hips down into him and allowing a sultry moan to drip from her lips as a playful smirk made an appearance. Gods, she was intoxicating. Thor wanted to mesmerize every inch of her body. Every thought in his head melted away until all that was left was Gracie. Her piercing blue eyes staring down at him and showing him just how much she cared for him.
Blue sparks flashed from his fingertips as he gripped her hips and rolled them over, pulling a giggle from her lips, "I need you sweetheart," he rasped, breathing in her scent as he nipped at her neck, "please,"
"God please," Gracie moaned with a grin, bucking her hips up into him and reaching up to tangle her hands in his hair.
"Anything for you,"  Thor teased against her lips as he lined them up and slowly pressed himself into her.
She wined as he filled her, stretching her out over him as he gripped her hips and deepened their frenzied kiss. She wiggled and whimpered everytime a little spark licked at her bare skin rolling down over him over and over until Thor couldn't think straight.
As Thor bottomed out, he rested his head against her shoulder. “I’m not hurting you am I?” He asked quietly. It was the last thing that he wanted to do.
Gracie shook her head and breathed deeply, pressing a soft kiss to the tip of his nose, "No I'm okay, you can move handsome," She smiled, trailing her hand down his spine to his lower back and pressing in, urging him to keep going.
Taking his time, Thor shifted his hips back slowly before thrusting back into her, moving his lips from hers to press wet kisses down her jaw to find purchase on her neck, "Fuck you feel incredible," he mumbled into his skin as he bucked his hips gently back into hers once more.
A deep groan fell from her mouth as she pressed her head into the mattress and closed her eyes, "I love you, Thor," she breathed, clenching herself around him and moving her hips up to meet his, "Fast baby, please"
He would do anything she asked of him. Thor wrapped his arm around her middle tugging her as close as he could as flipped them around and slid himself back so he was sitting. He helped her wrap her legs tightly around him as he continued to pump up into her, quickening his pace as she raked her nails down his back.
She let her head fall back, her hair cascading down her back over his arm. Moaning as her pebbled nipples rubbed against his chest and her legs squeezed him relentlessly.
“Fuck, you’re gorgeous,” he groaned, pistoning his hips into her willing body.
“Thor! Yes! God, don’t stop baby,” she moaned.
She clenched around him with her pleas, forcing his head to fall forward just to hold out that much longer. He had no plans to stop for as long as he could tempt it.
"Wouldn't dream of it," He groaned burying his face into the crook of her neck, his hand sliding from her waist to the back of her neck as he nibbled on her skin. The sounds of her mewls and whines muffled by the party going on behind his door. He felt her hands roam up his back knotting themselves into his hair and holding him firmly to her skin. Thor wasn't going to complain, he had noticed the heat of his breath casting waves of goosebumps over her skin over the soft pink marks his lips left on her body. A sight that only sent another jolt of warmth straight to his groin.
"Want you," He breathed, "always."
Gracie sobbed out another moan as his length hit that soft spot within her. Her words strained and punctuated with his thrusts as she whispered "Yours--always."
Thor was relentless, thrusting into her with strokes that kept her singing that beautiful tune in his ear. He could feel her body trembling as he tightened his grip, her doing the same in his hair.
“I feel like I’m flying,” she whined, “do the sparks,” she begged and he obliged. Tickling his fingers across her nipples, tiny shocks of lightning licking at the sensitive skin driving her to the edge of bliss.
“You’re so close, sweetheart,” he panted, feeling the lightning crackle at her nerves. “Let go for me, create the perfect storm.”
Thor could feel her cunt fluttering and clenching around him as their sounds mixed together in the sticky air of his room. Sheer bliss took over as he slammed himself into her. With one last clench and a deep moan, he felt her let go, muttering praises under her breath. She buried her face into his neck as stifled a whine as Thor kept up his pace, chasing his own high.
Tumbling over the edge, he spilled out with a ragged moan, peppering soft, wet kisses down her neck and over her shoulder, stopping to pay extra attention to the small sunflower.
"You're perfect, Gracie," Another kiss, "And so beautiful,"
"Holy fuck, baby," she breathed into his ear, kissing where his jaw met his neck, "I love you Thor, so much"
“Say it again,” he begged.
“I,” she kissed his collarbone, “love,” she licked a stripe of sweat from his peck, “you.”
She peered up at him with her last words and the smile on her face nearly broke everything in him. He couldn’t live without that. He couldn’t live without her.
Thor held her close to his chest and slid down the bed, falling back so they were laying together, side by side and a tangled mess of limbs. He pressed his lips to hers in a lingering slow kiss, pulling a soft moan from her.
Gracie pulled back, a seemingly permanent glowy smile plastered to her face that made pride swell in his chest for the simple reason of it being himself that put it there, "I could get used to this." She said softly her fingers tracing the edge of his jawline.
He trailed his own fingertips along her arm, tracing over the leaves on her sunflower tattoo and sparking tiny blue flickers of lightening against her skin. "I hope so," Thor rasped, "because I have no intention on letting you go Sunflower." His gaze met hers through thick lashes, "I love you so much, whenever I see you I feel like the gods made a mistake promising me Thunder when all I wanted was Sunshine."
Gracie only smiled as she looked at him with heavy eyes. “Then I will be all of the sunshine you could ever need, Thunder. Always.”
Thor hummed and tucked Gracie as close to his body as he could, relishing in the feeling of having his girl, his sunflower, finally in his arms. The feeling of her thumping heart against his skin, her sweet vanilla scent coming through on her sticky skin. He didn't want this moment to end.
Reaching up, he brushed his fingers through her dark hair, earning himself a soft smile as Gracie pressed a gentle kiss to his peck, "Whatcha thinking up there big guy?"
"I'm just waiting to see if I wake up, " he mused, chuckling quietly, "this could have been one incredible dream and I'm going to wake up on the front lawn with no pants on, and Natasha taking pictures just to post in Shield's dorms, and you, you ended up dancing with Quill and falling madly in love, and I'm just the sexy naked guy who throws great parties"
Gracie's musical laugh sounded through his room as she sat up, shaking her head at him, "Well I hate to break it to you, but I'm right here, and I'm all yours,"
"Ah that's exactly what dream you would want me to think," He pointed.
"Just shut up and kiss me," Gracie laughed again, leaning down and pressing her lips back to his, smiling into the kiss.

Slight mob!Loki x female reader
18+ | contains smut
Tumblr media
“Loki, when are you coming back to bed?” You asked, pouting as you fastened your short silk robe, stepping into Loki’s study.
“I’m just sorting through a few things dearest, soon.” Loki answered, glancing up at you before doing a double take, noticing your attire.
“Hi Thor.” You smiled, greeting Loki’s brother.
“Y/n.” He replied, swallowing thickly before his eyes quickly ran up your exposed legs.
“Are these things anything I can help with?” You offered.
“Come here.” Loki gestured, tapping his knee. Walking further into the room, you made your way to Loki, sitting on his lap as you looked down at the papers sprawled out over the desk. “The aim is to go from here Loki began, placing his finger on a map “to here unnoticed.” He finished, pointing to the final destination.
“Hmm, unnoticed?” You hummed, wracking your brain.
“Yeah.” He nodded, kissing your neck.
“Dress as delivery men and use a delivery truck.” You suggested.
“That’s too obvious, sweet.” Loki answered.
“Then garbage men then, no one is going to check a garbage truck.” You shrugged.
“And where would we get this garbage truck?” Thor queried, you and Loki both glancing up at him.
“Loki has contacts everywhere.”
“Yes brother,” Loki smirked, “I’ve got contacts everywhere.”
“So that’s sorted then” you clapped, looking back at Loki as he wrapped his arm tighter around you “can we go back to bed now?”
“I’m afraid there’s still something else.” Loki sighed.
“Fine” you huffed, breaking out of Loki’s grip as you stood “I guess I’m going to have to just take care of myself then.” You announced, walking out of the room, both sets of Odinson eyes on you as you did so. “Goodnight Thor.” You spoke, touching his arm as you passed him.
Watching you for a few moments, Loki couldn’t help but stand up, following after you.
“This won’t take a minute” Loki lied, speaking to Thor “sit down, make yourself at home.” He called, leaving the room. Heading up the stairs, Loki was quick to catch up with you, leaving you yelping as he wrapped his arms around you from behind, practically carrying you to the bedroom.
“I said I’d be with you in a moment, couldn’t you have just given me that?” Loki spoke firmly.
“No.” You giggled.
“Right, bend over that bed.” He ordered.
You were quick to make your way to the bed, standing at the end of it before leaning over it, balancing on your forearms. Loki stood behind you, one arm snaking around your body to undo your robe. The thin material slipped off of your body, leaving you bare for Loki as he ran two of his fingers through your folds.
“Already so wet.” He noted lowly, fingers circling your clit slowly.
“I was getting ready for you.” You grinned.
“Yeah?” He smiled coyly.
“Mhmm.” You hummed.
“Good girl, getting it nice and wet for daddy.” Loki praised, the sound of his belt unbuckling ringing in your ear before you felt him pressing his soft, thick member against you. “What do you want me to do?” He questioned, gripping his length and gently moving it through your slick folds.
“You know what I want you to do.” You answered, impatiently moving your hips backwards.
“Say it” Loki commanded, pressing the tip of his length to your entrance “say it.” He uttered.
“I want you to fuck me.” You almost whined.
“That’s a good girl.” He smirked, pressing himself into you.
“Lokii.” You mewled as he buried himself inside of you, every inch of him filling you before he pulled out. “Fuck.” You moaned as he gripped your hips tightly, thrusting inside of you again, harder this time, more purposefully.
“Such a tight little thing.” He lauded, one of his hands lifting and landing on your ass hard as you moaned louder.
“Fuckk Lokii.” You gasped, his balls hitting your clit as he continued thrusting in and out of you.
“Shh, we have a guest, remember.” He chuckled darkly.
“Lokii.” You panted, Loki hitting that perfect soft spot with each calculated stroke. “Feels so good.” You moaned lewdly as he grabbed your hand, guiding it to your clit prompting you to rub it.
“Quiet.” He instructed, loosening his tie before practically shoving it into your mouth in the hopes of silencing you but knowing it’d just arouse you further. You humored him, gagging on it as he continued fucking you. Your face was almost buried into the bed as you tried to remain balanced on one of your forearms.
Downstairs, Thor repositioned himself, crossing his legs as he heard what sounded like Loki spanking you. He tried to busy himself looking through the map on the table but it was useless.
“Are you going to be a dear and cum for me so I can continue discussing business? Hmm?” Loki asked, thrusts quickening. Unable to reply, you clenched your walls around him. “Good girl.” He smiled before pounding into you, unable to conceal his own groaning. Feeling your walls thrumming around him, Loki tore the tie out of your mouth.
“Fuck!” You exclaimed, pleasure consuming you “m’ cumming.”
“Love, you’re soaking me.” Loki spoke, clearly amused as he slowed his pace, guiding you through your high.
“I-I’ll clean you up.”
“And how are you going to do that?” He questioned, still inside you. Reaching behind you, you tried to push him backwards. Realising what you were doing, Loki pulled out of you. Turning around to face him, you went onto your knees before gripping his hard, length, moist from your arousal. You moved your hand up and down it, Loki relaxing against your touch as you massaged his sensitive member. Opening your mouth, you guided him inside it, flicking the tip with your tongue as it entered. Hands on his hips, Loki closed his eyes as you gagged on his cock, hollowing your cheeks around it as you sucked on it. Unable to control himself, his hips involuntarily thrusted forwards, chasing your mouth as you circled the tip with your tongue.
“Are you going to let me cum on those pretty tits?” Loki cooed, feeling his orgasm approaching. Nodding, you replaced your mouth with your hand, fisting him to completion before he came, coating your breasts with his warm seed.
“My good good girl.” He praised, pulling you into a long kiss as if he just wanted to taste himself against you. “Go and grab me some clean trousers.” He spoke, breaking the kiss and slapping your ass as you turned around towards the wardrobe. “Thank you.” He added, taking his current ones off before putting the clean ones on. “Now, I’m going back downstairs and I’ll be back once I’m finished. You stay up here.”
“And what would you do if I came downstairs?” You questioned teasingly.
“I’d have to punish you.” He smirked.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time.” You giggled.
“Right, where were we?” Loki spoke, entering his study again.
“I—um—I need to leave.” Thor stuttered, almost sprinting out of the room.

This is the Thor that was in the study alone 🤣

Loki's Silent Sentry (Part 4)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3
Pairing: Loki x female reader (ofc)
Summary: You are not just a soldier in Asgard's Royal Army, you are Lieutenant Y/L/N, Prince Loki's personal guard, his sentry and you are not supposed to fall in love with him. If you followed your training properly, you should never have even spoken to him. As a sentry, you are expected to remain silent and invisible as you shadow your appointed member of the royal family or member of the court protectively throughout their daily tasks.
Rumors (that happen to be true) begin to circulate through the palace that you serve the younger prince of Asgard both outside and inside his chambers. There is little you can do once word of your off duty activities spread through every maid, cook, gardener and seamstress in the palace. You soon find even the soldiers in your own company are now questioning how exactly you had come to earn your seemingly quick rise to lieutenant.
As the annual Winter Solstice Ball approaches, you come to the heartbreaking realization that your relationship with Loki must come to an end if you are both to fulfill your duties.
Warnings: Angst, arguing, Thor trying to be a better brother, Odin being a terrible father... I lied about the fluff... it's not in this part lol but it's coming I swear 💚 I know this part is short but it was getting way too long so I keep breaking it up
Tumblr media
"No! He can't do this," you think angrily. Your mind is spinning and your heart races. How could he take this away from his own son.
"You dare to tell me what I can and can not do!?" the king asks in a booming voice and you suddenly freeze.
You look at Loki, his eyes filled with fear and realize you didn't think that, you said it out loud. Odin slowly takes a step forward and you fight the urge to turn and run.
The only sounds you can hear in the crowded room are Odin's heavy footsteps as he decends the stairs and the pounding of your heart. Loki slips his hand free from yours as his father comes closer, he moves to stand in front of you protectively. It does nothing to stop the king, however, his eyes are fixed on you.
The king glares at you and says, "This does not concern you."
You don't know what gives you the strength or courage but you find yourself taking a step forward so you are next to Loki. He glances at you and you can tell he is obviously worried but you stand tall in front of the king and the whole council. You take Loki's hand again and answer Odin, "This concerns me because your ruling effects Loki's future and I care about him, unlike you or would seem."
Loki pulls you closer to him and further from his father but neither of you back away from the king.
"It is now becoming even clearer why we need to update the marriage law," Odin states, looking at the members of the council. He looks directly at Loki, "The prince does not understand his duty to this kingdom and that marriage is not to be taken lightly." Then he looks at you, "And you do not know your place."
"My place is with your son," you tell him.
"And my place is with Y/N," Loki adds in agreement.
A council member to your right says, "Prince Loki, you may think your place is with this soldier but you have a responsibility to follow the king's orders, as do we all."
You feel your chest tighten, you already know the answer to that question. You had spent many nights wondering if you were good enough for Loki.
"Is this really about my obligations as a prince?" he asks the council, "Or do you simply not think Y/N is worthy of my hand in marriage?"
"Lieutenant is barely an officer," an older woman says.
"If we take into account her family's years of service and the ranks they reached, we can easily assume she will at least rise to major like her parents before her," a younger man counters.
"Not for many, many years," another man responds.
"The law only states that a soldier must be a captain, that's clearly an obtainable rank," a woman you barely recognize defends you.
"But she is not yet a captain," someone argues. The chatter and disagreements begin to mix together and become louder as each person fights to have their opinion heard.
You keep your hand in Loki's, holding onto him to keep your bearings as you try to follow the numerous conversations. He squeezes your hand gently and you look up at him. He tries to give you a reassuring smile but you can clearly see he is as nervous as you are. None of this has gone the way he had planned and you are both terrified of what could happen.
"Enough of this!" Odin raises his voice, causing the room to go quiet in an instant. "I have made my decision."
"Father, please. Don't do this to us," Loki begs his father but the king seems unphased by how much he is hurting his son.
"Your highness-" you start but can't finish your thought.
"One more word from you..." he threatens and you become quiet, moving closer to Loki.
The queen moves forward, you had almost forgotten she was in the throne room as she sat quietly and observed the arguments. You and Loki both look at her with a mixture of hope and desperation. Is she going to overrule the king as she had when he wanted to send you away? Does she have a clever suggestion to keep you together? Is she going to agree with her husband? Your mind races as you wait for her to speak.
"I wish to hear what Lieutenant Y/L/N has to say," she says calmly.
Odin turns to look at his wife and something in his demeanor changes. You can't tell if he loves his wife but you can see he respects her enough to not challenge her in front of the council. He looks back at you and waves his hand slightly, "Very well, but these will be your final words in my presence."
You swallow hard and Loki squeezes your hand again to make sure you know you have his support.
"I love Asgard and I have dedicated my life to serving the crown and this kingdom," you begin, unsure of where you are going. "I admit, I am at a loss to discover that this means little to you. I have fought to protect the Bifrost, I have shed blood defending our outposts, I am willing to die in place of the royal family as a sworn sentry. Does this truly make me less worthy of marrying Loki than a woman who was born into one of the council families purly by chance?"
The members of the council begin to whisper again, discussing the question you posed but your attention turns to Loki. You keep your eyes locked on his and tell him, "I don't know what will happen but I need you to know that I will never stop loving you, even if they pull us apart."
"I will never let them take you from me, I promise," he says and you believe him with your whole heart.
Tumblr media
The queen nods when you look back towards her but she looks heartbroken for her son and you fear she won't interfere again.
"Now, let us put this nonsense behind us and-" the king begins.
"Wait," Thor interrupts him as gasps spread through the crowd. Now it is Thor who approaches the edge of the throne. Odin glares at his oldest son but says nothing, allowing him to continue.
"I think it would be wise to explain why you truly want to disregard the existing law," he says.
"I have made my opinion on the matter perfectly clear and above all else, it is simply outdated," Odin answers but you can tell the council members are not sure that is the whole truth.
"If you do not tell them," Thor threatens calmly, "I will."
"What are you talking about brother?" Loki asks, his voice full of confusion.
Before Thor can respond, Odin says, "You will do no such thing."
Thor pauses for a moment as if weighting the pros and cons of disobeying his father and you hold your breath while he decides. He avoids Odin's stare and looks at you and Loki. "Loki," he starts.
"Stop this now," Odin commands.
Thor doesn't stop, "We knew about this law, we have for years."
"What?" Loki takes a small step back in shock. "You knew and you said nothing? Even after you knew how I felt about Y/N?"
"Yes but there was nothing to be done," his brother explains. "Even if I had told you, you would still never be allowed to marry her."
"Why not? Why are we being punished?" Loki asks desperately looking from his brother to his father and back at Thor.
"You are not being punished, you are being used as a pawn," Thor says, looking down as if he is ashamed to admit the truth. The queen looks to Odin, her eyes full of questions. The council begins to whisper again as they attempt to figure out if anyone knows what Thor is referring to.
"A pawn," Loki repeats, his eyes unfocused as he stares at the floor. You hold him tightly, hoping to bring his attention back to you.
Tumblr media
"Everyone out!" Odin orders the council to clear the throne room but no one moves.
"What is Prince Thor saying?" one person asks. "A pawn in what game?" asks another. Dozens of questions fly through the air until Loki finally looks up again.
"Brother," he says and the room goes silent. "Please, tell me what you mean? That I am to be used?"
"I'm sorry Loki," he says and your heart pounds faster. "You can't marry Y/N, because you have been promised to another."

A Second Chance
This has been sitting in my WIP pile for a while but I've finally finished writing this!
I do hope you enjoy the sequel to In Another Life inspired by @just-someone11 comment
Ok listen i knew it would be angst. I pushed back reading this knowing it would be angst but still :((((((. wonderfully written and if you find the inspiration maybe you could write Loki meeting y/n in the new life? Idk maybe as tom and yn.....oh oh oh or after Loki dies, so more reuniting in the afterlife
If you like more, check out my Masterlist
Summary: An alternate life brings you and Loki together, along with it is the realization that whatever timeline you may be - you are both connected to each other
Warnings: Angst, mentions of death, fluff, multiverse stuff,
Tumblr media
You've always hated winter - maybe it's the numbing cold that you had to endure every time you have to go out or the fact that everything around you is devoid of color because of the accumulating snow.
This time around, you despised it because you had to walk home into the blizzard under heavy layers of clothing after covering an extra shift for your co-worker who caught the flu in this weather.
You buried your hands inside the fluffy pockets of your coat and hid your face under your scarf to shield you.
Loki and Thor ran through the snow-covered streets of New York chasing after the remaining HYDRA super soldier that stole a rune dagger made from the stinger of a creature from Jotunheim. The same creature in the stories guards the powerful orb. Both are directly connected to each other and have the ability to link the minds of the person's variants, accessing the past, present, and future of one's self in different multiverses. HYDRA was supposed to use the dagger to learn how to unlock this knowledge on Earth, as everything connected to it has been long lost in Asgard. The soldier was almost successful in getting away after fending off Thor and Loki by spreading nerve gas and creating chaos along the way.
────────────────────────
As you were lost in your thoughts, you noticed people around you starting to scramble and run away. You tried assessing the situation and noticed that a super soldier was headed in your direction. You made sure that the people were safe before stepping in and blocking the super soldier. He triggered an unpleasant piece of memory you tried to bury deep in your subconscious.
He ran straight at you, but you were able to use his momentum to throw him straight to the ground and drop an axe kick to his gut before punching him square in the face for good measure, knocking him senseless with a few broken bones.
Before starting your new life as an EMT in New York, you were secretly trained to become an assassin for years by your HYDRA captors after they discovered you were frozen in a lake in Antarctica. You exhibited great fighting skills, exceeding super soldiers even without using the serum, despite lacking any hint of memory prior to being captured. They tried experimenting on you way too many times to discover what you are or where you're from—the best they could come up with was that you were not from Earth.
You were staring down at the unconscious soldier beneath you when your scarf flew away. You scrambled to catch it, but someone got to it first. You looked at the person, and your heart pounded like a battering ram against your chest. You took the scarf and meekly said thanks, but your eyes were locked against each other.
For years, you were their best hit person, until one night you were tasked with dispatching the scientist who's been taking care of you since you arrived at the facility, as she was discovered to be a spy for SHIELD. In her dying breath, she urged you to discover who you truly were and not what HYDRA just wanted you to be. It made you run away to start a new life and be who you are now. Maybe in this new life, you could save lives instead of taking them away.
"Isn't that…" Thor whispered to Loki.
"Y/N?" Loki said as he looked at you intently, etching your very being in his mind.
"Oh no, I'm not y/n. You must have gotten the wrong person."
Nobody had ever called you y/n before but it felt like it always has when Loki says it. It felt like your name was y/n all this time, despite this being your first time hearing it. Was it even the first time?
You got lost in your thoughts when a familiar, searing heat ran through your back. Thor was quick to disarm the now-conscious soldier when he found out he used the rune dagger to stab you. Loki caught you in his arms before you started convulsing.
Memories of all of yourselves flashed before your eyes—what was, what is, and what will be all flashing before you, even your lost memory. You saw the timeline where both you and Loki died after you tried obtaining the orb by Odin's orders. You saw how you fought and defeated the creature in a different universe, with you dying before Loki could get to you and him dying in grief because of your death, encased in permafrost in Jotunheim.
There was also a brighter alternate reality where Loki was a famous actor going by the name of Tom, and there was you—a young scientist working at his grandfather's company. You caught his eye when he came there for a visit, and everything started when he invited you for a cup of coffee. You ended up marrying him and having a daughter together. It was perfect how you welcome him with a kiss every time he comes home from work and your daughter rushes to be carried in her father's arms.
You saw your own past in this universe before you arrived on Earth, Loki was about to confess his love for you when you arrived from one of your battles, and you were about to too, but Odin did not like that, so before you both could, he sent you away to obtain the orb in exchange for his blessing.
In this timeline, Loki thought you knew about his intention and you decided to run away, so he did not pursue you any further, but the reality was that, instead of facing the creature, Laufey found you first and fought against you. Your prowess and resilience made him admire you as a warrior. Instead of killing you, he ended up wiping all of your memory using the orb and banishing you to Midgard, where you were encased in permafrost, which HYDRA discovered.
It felt like forever processing everything all at once, but Loki held you tightly in his arms to protect you from hurting yourself as tears flooded your eyes. You passed out in his arms shortly after. One thing is for sure, in every timeline - you are connected to Loki by the red string of fate.
"What do you intend to do, brother, with the dagger and with her?" Thor asked, handing him the dagger and glancing at you.
Loki took the dagger and used his seidr to vanish it away. "We need to get to the bottom of this. But for now, I need to protect y/n, more than ever. I can't bear to lose her again, brother. We are bringing her to the tower for now; then we must head to Asgard." He spoke as he looked at you. He tucked in the stray hair covering your face behind your ears to take a closer look—you are indeed his y/n, the love of his life.
There are a million things running through his mind right now, but seeing you, he knew he had found a part of him that he tried to lock away when you were gone, a part that loved you and connected both of you against time, space, and all of the multiverse. He swore secretly to himself that he wouldn't lose you again—not in this timeline at least.

Being born a goddess in Asgard came with lots of fabulous parties, countless gowns and jewels, and lots of mingling with the other Gods and Goddesses Asgard housed. Ingrid had been born the goddess of song, her musicality bringing peace and prosperity to Asgardians. She could heal broken hearts with her songs, put one to sleep with her songs, and compel those to her will with her songs.
She was a kind and beautiful goddess, her name even meaning "beautiful woman." Because of her kindness, she never used her compelling voice to lure those to their deaths, or have them do as she pleased. She only used her voice for good, and it brought so much harmony to Asgard.
Her talent was unmatched on every level, and Asgardians were willing to pay her thousands to teach their offspring even a sliver of what it meant to sing like her.
But she never shared the secrets of her voice.
There weren't any secrets to be shared. She was born with her gift, and never had to work to make it better. It was the epitome of a perfect voice.
So perfect that many wanted it for themselves.
Ingrid had to be cautious of who she trusted enough to get close to her. The wrong person with the right spell could take her voice from her. While no such spell was easy, magic was a well practiced craft in Asgard, and someone highly skilled in magic could, with the right research, take her voice from her.
Her talent was mystical, and she most often used it for healing purposes. For example, when a family member passed away, people would come to her and ask for a song to ease their pain. She had a way of letting the spirits sing through her, and her songs were able to make grief easier.
Ingrid was the youngest of the Gods. She was only nineteen in Midgardian years, the sons of Odin beating her by a miniscule two years.
Ingrid lived in the castle, and she saw the royals as her second family. When she was a young girl, her parents, also Gods, were killed by the Dark Elves, so she was left orphaned. Odin and Frigga took her in, and she grew up alongside Thor and Loki.
She grew up knowing her and Thor were to be married once she reached the age of twenty. Her and Thor had grew up close, but she knew, deep down, she'd never be able to love him like she was supposed to. They say everyone has their person, and she knew Thor wasn't hers. She did love him, just in a friendly way. But she knew she'd have to bear his children, so she tried to be attracted to him, but it never worked the way it was supposed to.
"You look beautiful today, my darling," Thor said as Ingrid grabbed his arm.
They were headed to a feast to celebrate their marriage, as the wedding was set to be a month away.
"Thank you, Thor," she replied, smiling at him.
When the couple entered the grand dining room, they were greeted by cheers from all the Asgardian people in attendance. Ingrid smiled, waving at her friends, and following Thor before the two took a seat at the head of the table.
"Thank you, to all my lovely people," Thor boomed, the room going quiet. "And thank you," he started, gazing over to his fiance. "To my beautiful bride-to-be for everything. I'm the luckiest man in the nine realms to get to marry you."
Everyone at the table swooned, Ingrid looking over and giving Thor a smile. He raised his glass and everyone followed suit, a toast in order.
"To love!" Thor cheered.
"To love!" Everyone else cheered.
Ingrid just raised her glass, she didn't say anything else. A part of her mourned the fact that she'd never be able to find her true love. She only hoped that one day her heart would come to love Thor the way that a lover should.
She took leisurely sips of her wine, laughing at someones joke every once and awhile. She loved the people of Asgard, and she knew it was the highest honor to become their queen, but her heart longed to love. It longed to be loved by an all consuming love, one that challenged her and thrilled her, excited her in ways she never even knew possible.
But she'd never get the chance to find it.
"What about a song from the lady?" A man said, standing up and motioning his glass towards Ingrid.
"Oh," she stuttered, caught off guard by the request.
"Yes," another man piped up. "A song from the goddess to bless her marriage!"
"I mean," she blushed. "I don't have anything prepared."
"What could the goddess of song not have prepared? Sing us something!" Another man boomed.
"I don't know, I mean, I don't really think I have it in me to sing right now," she sheepishly replied.
"Oh come on, darling," Thor smiled. "Sing us something."
"I don't really want to," she said to Thor, giving him a tight smile.
Ingrid never liked to be put on the spot, and Thor knew that. But she also couldn't deal with disappointing people, so saying no wasn't something she was good at. Thor also knew this.
"Aw how come?" Thor boomed, obviously a bit drunk, as he smiled down at her. "Bless us and our marriage with a song!"
"I don't- Thor, I didn't prepare to sing anything," she said, silently pleading with him to let it go.
"You're the goddess of song," he emphasized. "You don't need to prepare anything," he smiled.
Ingrid often had anxiety around being put on the spot, as she liked to have a sort of mental preparation. Ingrid suffered from a severe case of PTSD, which contributed to her severe anxiety.
When she lost her parents, she was ten years old. She watched as the dark elves stormed into her home and brutally murdered both of her parents in front of her. They only missed her because she hid in her parents closet.
The images of her parents being killed stayed with her, haunting her.
It's safe to say her anxiety was prominent in her life.
"Thor," she started whispering. "Everyone is looking at me, I don't think I should sing right now."
"C'mon darling, everyone loves your voice! I mean look at them," Thor said, gesturing to the group of people in the dining room, looking excitedly at their goddess of song.
"I don't want to," she said.
"Ingrid, you're the goddess of song, I don't understand-"
"The lady said she didn't want to sing, therefore she won't," a voice said from the back of the dining hall.
The voice in question came from none other than Thor's brother, Loki. Ingrid and Loki had always gotten along. He understood her traumas, since he had found out he was adopted a couple years back.
Her and Loki had grown up never too close, but never distant either. They would often just sit with each other and read in the library. He always kept to himself, but he always tried to be out of his brothers shadow as well. Ingrid had always found Loki fascinating, his magic so strong yet himself so quiet. But when he did have something to say, it was always well worded and intelligent.
When Loki spoke up, the entire dining hall went silent, and all eyes gazed to him. He was dressed in his more casual Asgardian leather, yet nevertheless eye catching. His hair was slicked back as it always was, his black curls resting on his shoulders.
"Ah, brother!" Thor announced. "How wonderful of you to join us!"
"How could I ever miss such an occasion?" He sarcastically remarked, his hand landing over his heart.
As he walked to the table to take a seat, he made eye contact with Ingrid, who mouthed a 'thank you' to him. He just nodded and smiled back at her.
The rest of the party went on as they all do; they ate, Thor and his friends had too many beers to count, and the others mingled together. Ingrid felt overwhelmed by the noise and commotion in the room, so she wandered out to the garden. The gardens were her favorite place in the castle, the flowers and plants always having a way of soothing her. Freyr always did wonders for the gardens.
Her favorite was the Dreamshade plant, an Asgard specialty. It was beautiful when it bloomed. Next to the Dreamshade plot of the garden was a beautiful wooden, white swing next to it, hung by a tree. Ingrid would often find herself out there reading.
She sat down on the swing and started to rock back and forth. She sipped on the wine she had carried with her, the liquid making her warm with each sip she took. The breeze encapsulated her, sending a chill down her spine.
She heard the boom of Thor's laughter from inside and took another swig of her wine. She was supposed to be Asgard's blushing bride, they're grateful queen to be. But instead, she's sitting in the garden, away from her own party for her own marriage, fighting back tears. She was orphaned at ten, and months after she had been taken in by the king and queen, she was betrothed to Thor. Her future had been written for her before she was old enough to fully harness the concept of true love and marriage.
And she did, she did love Thor. They had grown up together. Just as she loved Loki. But Thor never made her feel the way her friends' partners made them feel. They'd all talk about butterflies, feeling giddy. All she felt was a longing for something she didn't have.
She wished her voice could cure her own sadness.
"Ingrid?" Came the voice of Loki. He had found his way out to her at the gardens, slowly walking up to her as to not wake her.
"Loki," she gasped, breaking out of her trance. She then noticed the tears that had fallen down her face, quickly wiping them away.
"Why are you crying?" He asked, coming to sit next to her.
"I don't know," she said. "I didn't even realize I was."
"Is everything alright?"
"Nothings alright," she whispered. "I just, I feel hopeless and, I don't know. I'm sorry, I've had too much wine," she hiccuped.
"It's okay, we've all had too much wine," he grinned.
"It's good wine."
"It is indeed."
Her and Loki sat in silence. They let the breeze wash over them, and they let the smell of the flowers consume them. Ingrid was drunk, and she knew this because she felt like she could go up to Thor and tell him she didn't want to get married to him. At the end of the day, she'd never do such a thing, but the fact that it was even a thought she had confirmed the wine had done it's job.
The wine was also making her think things she shouldn't be thinking at all.
Looking over to Loki, she let her eyes wander over his smooth features, and the sharp curve of his jaw. He was sculpted perfectly, and on Midgard, they liked to say handsome men looked like "Greek Gods." Loki wasn't a Greek God, but he was a God.
Ingrid had always had a crush on Loki. He was charismatic yet smart. Funny yet serious, and mischievous at the same time. He always excited her, made her stomach knot when he teased her. He made a blush arise to her cheeks that never appeared for anyone else.
But she never let this crush get the best of her or distract her from what she was supposed to be focused on.
The wine allowed these thoughts to push through, though.
"I don't think," she started. "I don't think I wish to marry Thor."
"What?" Loki asked, his head snapping to her.
"I don't love him like that."
"I don't understand," Loki said, his brow furrowing. "You two have always been in love."
"It's been fake," she said, taking another gulp of her wine. "For me, at least."
"Ingrid-"
"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be telling you all of this. I should," she hiccups. "I should get to bed."
As she tries to stand, Ingrid's wine glass falls out of her hands, smashing on the ground. Her legs start to wobble, and before she knows it, she too is falling to the ground. Loki is at her side in an instant, catching her before her head hits the grass.
"Ingrid, darling," he gasped at her. "You've got to be more careful."
"I'm sleepy," is all that she mumbles, her eyes rolling shut.
"Okay," Loki says, hoisting her into his arms. "Lets get you to bed then."
Loki proceeded to carry her out of the garden and around the side of the castle to a side entrance, wanting to keep people from seeing them in this state together to prevent gossip. Through the corridors and up the stairs leading to her room, Ingrid was giggling at random things that she saw.
Once Loki got upstairs to her room, he carried her inside and gently placed her on the bed. She sighed contentedly when she felt her plush covers beneath her, melting into her mattress. She slowly blinked her eyes open, grinning when she noticed Loki looking down at her.
"Comfortable?" He asked.
"Yes," she sighed. "Thank you for bringing me up here."
"Of course."
"Loki?" She piped up, sitting up on her elbows. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Of course," he replied, taking a seat on her bed.
"Will everyone despise me if I don't say yes to Thor at the altar?"
She watched as Loki's expression softened, his head tilting to the side. She didn't want to cause a fuss, but she couldn't see herself living a long and prosperous life with Thor.
"Ingrid," he started. "Where is this coming from? Everyone thinks the two of you are in love."
"I've never gotten to explore any romantic interests of any kind because i've always been promised to him. But I don't love him like that. I've tried, Loki. He's not the one for me."
"I don't know if you have much of a choice, darling," Loki says, his lips flattening into a disappointed straight line. "What Odin wants, Odin gets."
"He's not the one that I want," she whispered, staring at Loki intently.
His brows furrowed and then relaxed again. Ingrid knew that her remark was suggestive, and would definitely be something she regretted saying the following afternoon. But as per the wine, it felt very appropriate to say.
"I suppose if your suitor of choice is as high of rank as a God to be king, Odin might not have as many complaints."
"He's something like that," she sighed.
Loki began to respond to her, but he was stopped by two sharp knocks on her door. She gave Loki a puzzled look, and he gave her a puzzled look back, neither one of them knowing who could be at the door.
Loki stood and went to the door to open it, and when he did, it was revealed to be Thor on the other side. Loki moved aside to let his brother in, and Thor's eyes immediately went to Ingrid.
"There you are, darling. Are you alright?"
"Yes, just sleepy," she replied, her eyes blinking slowly.
"Why did you escort my lady to her bed chambers without letting me know?" Thor asked, turning to his brother who stood silently in the corner.
"Because she was passing out in the gardens and I didn't want anyone seeing her in such a vulnerable state," Loki replied.
"Passing out in the gardens?" Thor said, whipping around to look at his bride lying on the bed, still in her evening gown.
"I've had a bit too much wine," she said, pinching her fingers in the air as an example of how much wine she's had.
"Why did you even leave to the gardens in the first place?" Thor asks.
"It was loud," she sighs.
"I'm sorry, darling. I know me and my friends can be loud at times."
"Very loud," she annunciated.
Ingrid pushed herself up off of her bed and stumbled into her closet and grabbed one of her silk nightgowns, walking back out and throwing it down on her bed. She started undoing the pins in her hair, feeling immediate relief at the release of tension in her head. The two brothers stood there watching her, and she stopped her motions to give them both a quizzical look.
"What?" She asked. "Have neither of you seen a lady get ready for bed?"
They both stuttered out sorries as they started to exit the room. Thor crossed over to Ingrid and kissed her cheek, whispering a goodnight to her. She caught Loki's eye by her door, and she gave him a small smile. He nodded back to her. The two brothers exited her room, and once she heard the door click she brushed her dress off of her shoulders.
Once she was ready, Ingrid slipped under her covers. She could still feel the alcohol coursing through her veins.
Before her parents passed away, her mother would sing her a song before bed every night. It stuck with her, and sometimes the goddess would sing it to herself before bed, just to imagine her mother there with her. Tonight was one of those nights.
Ingrid felt helpless, her marriage to Thor was rapidly approaching, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She needed her mothers advice more than anything. So Ingrid sang her song.
Nuku, nuku nurmilintu, Väsy, väsy, västäräkki Nuku nurmelle hyvälle Vaivu maalle valkialle. Lintu tuopi liinahapaijan Haapana hyvän hamehen Kaskeloinen korvatyynyn Pääskynen peäalusen Nuku, nuku nurmilintu Väsy, väsy, västäräkki Nuku nurmelle hyvälle Vaivu maalle valkialle.
Ingrid sang her song louder than she's ever sang it before. Usually she would sing it as a whisper, only to keep for herself. But she felt (probably because of the wine) that everyone needed to hear it. And everyone did hear it. Everyone in Asgard heard their goddesses song, and they heard the pain and longing in her voice as she sang. It was vulnerable, and it was beautiful.
And it lulled her and the entire kingdom to sleep.
~~
Ingrid woke the next morning to being shook by her shoulders.
As she opened her eyes, she saw Thor, Frigga, Loki, and a few castle healers surrounding her on her bed. Thor was shaking her awake, concern written all over his face. Everyone looked worried, and Ingrid looked quizzically back at them.
"What?" She asked, worried as to why everyone was so concerned about her.
"Ingrid," Thor said. "Ingrid, are you alright? We've been trying to wake you for an hour. It's one in the afternoon."
Ingrid shot up at that, looking to her clock to confirm the time. She had never slept that long. Wine wouldn't do that to her either, as she's had her fair share of drunken nights far worse than the one she had last night.
"I'm sorry, I'm not sure why I did that," she said, but the people surrounding her just looked more confused.
"Ingrid, darling, what are you saying?" Frigga asked, taking a step closer to her."
"I'm asking-," She started, but she realized that not a single sound was coming out. "Can you not hear me?"
"Darling, we can't hear you," Thor said. "You're just moving your mouth."
All of the blood drained from Ingrid's face as it hit her all at once.
Her song.
She sang her lullaby last night in a very drunk and vulnerable state, making her an easy target. And she was loud. Everyone in the kingdom heard her sing. And someone had done the one thing she had feared.
They had taken her voice.
As soon as it clicked in her mind, her eyes locked to Loki's, and she could tell that he had made the same observation.
"Someone took her voice," he stated, his eyes never leaving hers.
"That's impossible," Thor said, standing up.
"Oh no, it's quite possible, brother," Loki stated, his hands clasped behind his back. "A strong sorcerer heard her song last night, and the vulnerability behind it, and used the right spell. Her voice is gone."
"That cannot be!" Thor boomed, pacing around the room. "Who dare strip my bride of her Godly power?"
"Thor," Frigga said, walking over and comforting her son. "Whoever did this to dear Ingrid will be punished. We will find them."
"What are we supposed to do, mother? She's a goddess, and she's lost her ability. People need her," Thor said.
"She is more than just her gift, my son. She will help her people in incredible ways without her voice."
"Mother, she is the goddess of song. Not the goddess of kindness. She is not a goddess without her voice," Thor stated, blankly.
To hear Thor say this about her, in her bedroom, made her mouth run dry. It was as if she wasn't in the room to him. It was hurtful, and she had never heard Thor speak of her in this way.
"Thor," Frigga scolded. "You know better than that."
"She is not worthy of Asgard's throne if she cannot serve her people like she so promised!" He yelled.
The room fell silent, and Ingrid drew her knees up to her chest to hug them, tears freely falling from her eyes. The only thing that could be heard throughout the room were Ingrid's quiet sniffles, and everyones eyes turned to her when they started.
Thor's eyes immediately softened when he met her teary ones, guilt racing across his face.
"Ingrid, my darling," he started, walking up to her. "I didn't mean it, I'm so sorry-"
But he was cut off by Ingrid's hand shooting up to stop him. He bounced back, hurt flashing across his eyes.
"Ingrid," he pleaded.
She shook her head in response, as no sound would leave her vocals.
"You should go," Frigga said.
"Mother," he said, looking over to Frigga.
"No, Thor. You've done enough damage, it's best for you to go."
With a sigh, and one last regretful look at Ingrid, Thor walked out of her room. Once he left, Ingrid's shoulders started to heave, sobs wracking through her body. She had just woken up, and it was so much to process. She hadn't even gotten the chance to full realize her voice had been stolen from her before the man she considered one of her best friends and was supposed to marry started hurling insults about her in her own bedroom.
Frigga sat down on her bed and pulled her into her. She combed through her hair and whispered sweet words to her to calm her down. Frigga was the closest thing Ingrid had to a mother, and she made her feel better when she needed a mom.
"We will overcome this, my darling," Frigga said. "We'll find whoever took your voice from you. You are no less of a goddess this morning than you were last night. I'm truly sorry for my sons words."
"It's okay," Ingrid said, or tried to say. She felt a blush rise to her cheeks, and just nodded back at Frigga instead.
"Loki," Frigga said, motioning for her other son. "Why don't you entertain our girl with some of your magic? Or perhaps a card game? You two used to love to play together."
Loki gave his mother a small smile and nodded his head at her.
"Of course, mother," he replied.
"Thank you, my boy. She is in need of a friend."
Frigga exited the room, along with the healers, leaving Ingrid alone with Loki. She sighed before looking at him, his eyes swiftly meeting hers. The silence was uncomfortable. There were so many things she wanted to say to him. She wanted to apologize for her actions and words last night, she wanted to confide in him about her tumultuous love life, and she wanted to tell him he was the one that she wanted. But everything would have to be left unsaid.
When they were children, Loki would often put on 'magic shows' for Ingrid. Once, Odin asked for one, and Loki told his father that they were 'only for Ingrid.' His magic entertained her, and he knew this, so each time he'd put on a show for her, he made sure he was showing his favorite tricks.
"So," Loki started, carefully taking a seat next to her on the bed. "I've been working on a new trick."
Ingrid sat up a bit at that, her interest showing. Loki took this as her go ahead.
He raised his hand in the air, palm face up, and mini fireworks started coming out of thin air in the palm of his hand. Ingrid let a smile grace her features, a laugh wanting to escape her so badly.
"It's nothing huge," the God said. "But it's pretty."
Ingrid nodded her head at him, her smile widening. He let out an airy laugh, smiling back at her. He closed his hand, making the fireworks disappear. Ingrid let her smile settle, and his did too. She felt his hand creep to hers, grabbing it in his large hand and giving it a squeeze. Loki's hands were soft. Silky smooth. Just like his voice. Ingrid looked down at their hands, and then looked back to him, her gaze questioning.
"I'm sorry for what my brother said," he started, his gaze soft upon her. "And I'm sorry for the predicament you're in."
Her gaze hardened, a blush forming on her cheeks. She had hoped she had dreamt about telling Loki about her true desires regarding her marriage, but it was evident she had confided in him.
"I've not forgotten our little talk last night," he confirmed, making the girl look away from him. "And I want to help you. I know how it feels to be burdened with something you don't want."
"How can you help?" Ingrid so badly wanted to ask. She wasn't used to not having her voice, and she didn't like it.
"And I'm sorry that you lost your voice," he continued. "You're still a goddess, Ingrid. You always will be. No one can strip you of that."
She gave him a faint smile in return, squeezing his hand back. His hands were ice cold, yet she didn't shiver away from his touch. In fact, she wanted more of his touch. Loki had always brought her comfort, but her hand in his gave her a sense of being grounded no touch had ever given her before.
Everyone knew Loki and Ingrid had a connection deeper than they understood. Loki had never been one to open up, but he had always told Ingrid everything. She too, told him her deepest secrets. They had both seen each other in their most vulnerable states, therefore creating a bond no one could understand.
She had always had feelings for the prince, but she felt naughty when she thought of acting on them. After all, she was engaged to his brother, the future king. She should be fawning over Thor, the future king of Asgard. But instead, Ingrid often found herself lusting over Loki in the shadows.
"Ingrid," Loki's voice said, but this time in her head, his silky voice sending chills down her spine. She gave him a startled look, his telepathic abilities something she wasn't used to. "You can speak back," he continued.
"This is oddly frightening," she said back, not really sure if he could hear her say that or not.
"But now you have someone to speak to," Loki's voice said, confirming he had heard her.
"I can't believe that worked," she said, looking at him wide eyed. They had never communicated telepathically to one another. She knew that he could, but she couldn't. He had obviously made it to where she could communicate back with him. She hoped he couldn't read her mind.
"I can," he said. When she looked at him, mortified, he had a small smirk playing on his lips. "I can hear everything you're thinking."
"Loki stop," she threatened. "I'm more than happy to speak with you because I need it, but I can't have you reading my mind."
"Why? Something naughty you don't want me to know?" He smirked.
Her face heated up, and at the mention of naughty thoughts, images of Loki popped into her head. She quickly willed those thoughts away, her face turning bright red out of fear he saw her thoughts of him.
"I'll take that as a yes," he said, grinning at her.
"Loki, get out of my head," she warned.
"But I'm curious as to why you think of me so much," he replied.
If her face wasn't red before, it was cherry red now. She looked at him mortified, and put her head in her hands, shaking it. She was hoping that her actions were enough to get the God out of her head. His laughter rumbled throughout the room as he watched the girl in front of him, clearly in distress.
He moved to sit closer to her on the bed, and her breath hitched. She peeked an eye at him, and she saw him smirking down at her. She was feeling hot, her hands clammy and her forehead sweaty. Loki being this close to her in this state was making her feel fuzzy, and she couldn't tell if she wanted away from him or if she wanted closer to him.
"Who do you desire, my dear?" His voice still in her head, making goosebumps break out all over her body. "Who were you speaking of last night when you said you wanted someone other than Thor?"
"Loki," she said sternly, a warning. If he kept on, she didn't know how long she'd be able to hold her resolve.
"Tell me," he growled, his hand finding purchase on her thigh.
She lightly jumped at the contact, her mouth parting, the air leaving her lungs. She didn't think he felt the same about her, and the realization that he did was both thrilling and terrifying. It excited her because she had always had feelings for him, and it terrified her because of Thor.
"Of course I feel the same, Ingrid," he said, and she took in a sharp breath of air. "How could I not?"
"Because I'm marrying Thor," she said.
"I don't care. You clearly don't want to marry him."
She was at a loss for words, literally and figuratively. Loki was her greatest friend, and she worried what this would do to their relationship. She didn't know how they would go forward. She was to be married in a month and that terrified her.
"This is not how I expected my day to go," she said to him.
"Mine either," Loki chuckled, this time out loud. "I should let you rest, dear. I'm going to assist Odin in finding who stole your voice."
She just nodded at him as he stood up off the bed. She bent back down, however, caging Ingrid in between his arms, causing her to lean back onto her elbows. Her heart was thumping in her chest, and he smirked back at her. One of his hands came up and settled under her jaw, cupping her cheek. She instinctively leaned into his touch, her cheeks bright red again. He leaned forward and took his thumb across her lips, huffing out a laugh as her lips parted.
"Don't think I'll forget this talk," he drawled, his voice deep and smooth like chocolate.
She nodded back at him, swallowing the lump in her throat. He pulled her forward by the neck, and she stopped breathing as she expected his lips upon hers, her eyes fluttering shut. But instead of his lips finding hers, she felt them firmly press on her forehead.
"See you later, darling," he smirked, pulling away from her and laughing as she sat on the bed dazed and wide eyed.
She watched as he sauntered out of her room, and she let out the breath she had been holding. Her hand found her chest, and she placed it there as she slowed her rapid heartbeat. She flopped back on her bed, a small smile forming on her lips.
Maybe this month wouldn't be so bad after all.

When Everything's Made to be Broken - Chapter 9: Something So Brand New
Tumblr media
Summary: Theo makes good on her promise to Loki, and shenanigans ensue.
Author's Notes: So this is a longer chapter than I usually post, but given it all takes place during the span of one evening it didn’t make sense to split into two chapters. If you love Loki/Theo interactions, you’re in for a treat here. There’s also Brodinsons and Wanda/Theo friendship building as well.
I’m *hoping* to post my next chapter on December 10, but I sense that we’re about to hit a rocky patch at my job as a series of stressors all collide (aka shit’s about to hit the fan), so I’m going to give myself a one week buffer and say that the chapter will be up by no later than December 17th. It’s written, but I’ve found that I like to go back and do an in-depth editing pass before posting that usually takes at least a few hours… Essentially, I would rather underpromise and overdeliver than say I’ll post something and then just… not.
Oh, and RE: shit hitting the fan at work - I’m not worried about myself amidst the work stuff (I’m not about to lose my job or anything). I'm worried about the students I work with and how they’ll handle everything… And since my job is supporting said students, I imagine I’ll probably have my hands full. I’m intentionally being vague for privacy reasons, and in hopes that it doesn’t blow up so my concern is pointless.
Completely unrelated, but I saw The Maine live last week and they opened with this song! They put on a great live show. 10/10 do recommend.
If you enjoy, please reblog!! I'm a lil' blog and reblogs really help me out <3

Song: Dose No. 2 - The Maine
First breath out of a coma Over and over Oh what a lovely view of you  A two step into disorder I stumble forward Towards something so brand new
“Hey, uh - some of us are going to hang out up on the roof tonight. Want to join?”
Ever since Theo relented to Loki’s begging (and though he wouldn’t admit it, he totally begged her to join them), a foreboding sense of dread hung over Theo like a storm cloud, waiting for this very moment. A night of forced socializing and feigned pleasantries as the other Avengers tried not to make their suspicions about Theo painfully obvious - Theo would rather watch paint dry.
Across the threshold, hope radiated through the smile on Wanda’s face. She stood with hands in hoodie pockets, jeans and birkenstocks completing the Scarlet Witch’s look for that day. The outfit surprised Theo - from observation, Wanda only wore pants when working out, opting for skirts and dresses in daily life. Theo would have confidently bet real money that Wanda didn’t even own a pair of jeans.
Then again, it wasn’t the first time Theo was wrong, and it wouldn’t be the last.
Every possible excuse percolated in Theo’s mind for why she couldn’t join - lying about having plans, claiming she was tired or didn’t feel well, even outright admitting she didn’t want to go – but then Loki’s voice interrupted her thoughts, reminding her about the deal she struck.
And, well, after reading about the aftermath of Ultron and Sokovia, Theo realized they had more in common than she first thought.
“I— yeah, sure.”  Theo swallowed thickly, steeling herself for a miserable evening. She forced a smile at Wanda, praying that the expression didn’t look as uncomfortable as it felt. “I’ll join - let me grab a couple things first.”
Wanda’s face lit up, eyes wide as planets as she processed Theo's answer. “Great! This is going to be awesome! Uh, you should probably grab shoes, and maybe a jacket - it’s still a bit cool out.” She babbled, still gaping at Theo.
Theo held up a finger, stepping away from the door before Wanda could continue. She grabbed a thick sweater to cut the breeze, toed on some sneakers, and plopped a beanie over her hair, pausing in front of a mirror to make sure she didn’t look like a total mess.
Wanda practically bounced down the hall, constantly glancing back to check and make sure Theo hadn’t abandoned her. Theo trailed behind, listening to Wanda recount the construction of the rooftop lounge and how this was the first year they actually could use the space, and how excited they were to finally have a nice, private outdoor space to gather. At best, Theo half-listened along, her pulse quickening with every step closer to their destination.
As they stepped out onto the rooftop, it actually seemed like the perfect night to enjoy a city skyline and a cold drink.
A fully stocked bar stood along the far end of the roof, while plenty of outdoor seating offered opportunities for everything from lounging around to enjoying a meal. The space even featured a fireplace table and heat lamps for cooler nights, which already had been turned on to cut the chill. True to the Stark aesthetic, all of the furniture came in muted tones and clean lines, sharing design language with the indoor common areas.
The other Avengers had settled in among a series of outdoor sectionals, some standing around the periphery while others gathered near the bar. As they drew closer, Theo realized that the company for the evening consisted of not only Avengers Tower residents, the Avengers who resided elsewhere…
Oh god, when Theo caved to Loki’s request, she had not expected it to play out like this; she thought it would be a movie night, or going out to dinner. Not everyone and their mother staring at her.
As if she sensed Theo’s nervousness, Wanda grabbed Theo’s hand and smiled at her, pulling her towards the larger group.
With every step, Theo braced herself for an icy reception, all the while building up the courage to put on a brave face. She met everyone once, that first day when she was announced as an Avenger - maybe twice, if she counted the briefing that she crashed - so at least there were no new faces.
Small blessings, she supposed.
Wanda didn’t go of Theo’s hand until they reached the edge of the group. It only took Wanda a moment to find Vision, standing behind one of the sectionals as he chatted with Shuri about something very science-y. Vision casually wrapped an arm around her, listening intently to Shuri, who gestured animatedly as she responded.
Nearby, King T’Challa sat tall, dressed in a hybrid of western and African clothing with shoulders squared back as he conversed with Natasha about the United Nations and Wakanda. He spoke with a measured cadence that indicated he put great thought and intent into his words. On the opposite side of Natasha, Yelena slouched back in her seat, scrolling through her phone while laughing at something on screen.
Not far from Yelena, Peter Parker told Tony about school and the latest device he was building. His enthusiasm struck Theo, and she caught herself smiling as she noticed the way Peter mirrored Shuri’s animated gestures, hands flailing wildly as he attempted to describe the contraption. Colonel Rhodes listened from the other side of Tony, with open posture and head tilted to the side, nodding along patiently… It was quite the contrast, especially next to the borderline manic tendencies of Tony and Peter’s unbridled enthusiasm.
Nearby, Bruce spoke with Dr. Stephen Strange - a tall, thin man whose expression was entirely too serious and his posture uncomfortably rigid, which, if Theo thought about it, made sense for a former neurosurgeon. Sharon Carter chatted with Steve, Sam, and Bucky, laughter regularly erupting from the quartet; apparently, they were familiar with each other and had a lot to catch up on.
Clint looked at home behind the bar with Scott Lang, snippets of conversation about their kids floating over the other conversations as they prepared drinks for everyone and brought them over to the group.
Loki and Thor sat in deep discussion with the Valkyrie (or, as Loki often called her, Val) about something related to New Asgard; seeing a Valkyrie in a chunky sweater and Timbalands still threw Theo for a loop, but she knew that different people would adapt different aspects of life on Earth.
Thor noticed Theo standing there, bewildered at the sight of everyone in one location.
“Lady Theo!” Thor exclaimed, standing to greet her. “Welcome to your first family night!”
Wait - did he just say family night?
Theo could practically hear the world screech to a halt as everyone fell silent, gaping at the new addition. Her heart stuttered in her chest as she froze in place, a veritable deer in the headlights.
“Brother—“ Loki hissed, rolling his eyes as he elbowed his brother. “Do not overwhelm her.”
“Uh… hi?” Theo cringed at how pathetic she sounded. “Sorry, didn’t mean to disrupt.”
“No apologies necessary - come, take a seat.“ Loki offered Theo a reassuring smile as he gestured for her to sit next to him.
“Watch out, the prince is rescuing Rapunzel.” Tony teased, a smirk on his face as he raised a glass to her.
“Watch out everyone, Stark is jealous that a woman is not racing to offer herself up to him,” Loki retorted, sarcasm dripping from his voice.
Raucous laughter came from Loki’s response; even Theo giggled as she sank into the cushions beside him. Loki, in turn, flashed a smirk and winked at her, before effortlessly folding Theo into the Asgardians’ conversation. Without needing to ask, Scott brought Theo an old fashioned, which caused a rush of gratitude to flood Theo’s veins.
The alcohol wouldn’t have much of an effect on her, but having something to occupy her hands with was always appreciated.
Likewise, the others returned to their conversations. Over time, topics shifted and incorporated other people, slowly snowballing as everyone tuned into the larger discussions.
At one natural lull in conversation, Loki went to refill his drink, leaving a vacant spot beside Theo in the process. He barely made it behind the bar when, with a whoop, Shuri leapt over the sectional and claimed the seat as her own. “Ha ha!” Shuri’s face was smug as she shimmied into the cushion, crossing one leg over the other as she stretched her arms along the back of the seat. “This will make a lovely throne.”
Despite the stutter of her heart from Shuri startling her, Theo couldn’t help but laugh when she caught T’Challa rolling his eyes at his sister.
“Excuse me, that was my seat!” Loki scowled, gesturing wildly to where he previously sat.
“Not anymore.” Shuri stuck her tongue out at him. “Besides, you speak to Theo all the time. It’s my turn.”
The latter part of Shuri’s comment nearly made Theo choke on her drink - up until that point, hardly any attention was paid to Theo’s presence. Was that about to change?
“You are lucky I like you, princess,” Loki rolled his eyes, but let out a breathless laugh and shook his head. “Or else I might banish you to an alternate realm.” His threat lacked any teeth; if anything, it came off as a joke. He offered Theo a reassuring glance and the slightest nod, as if encouraging Theo to trust that Shuri wouldn’t make it weird.
Theo masked her nerves with a sip of her cocktail, allowing the notes of smoke and citrus to coat her tongue.
If Shuri noticed the interaction, she didn’t say anything. Instead, she struck up a conversation about a funny tiktok trend that made her think of Theo, eventually morphing into a conversation about medical technology.
Seat stealing, however, was only the prelude to a series of hijinks during the evening.
It started innocently enough. A few drinks into the evening, Tony entertained the team with one of his tales about inventions gone wrong - this time, DUM-E had sprayed a visiting SHIELD agent with a fire extinguisher instead of the computer that actually caught on fire.
While he rambled, Wanda glanced over and made eye contact with Theo. Wanda rolled her eyes before mouthing, “Want to see something fun?”
Theo nodded, curious to see what Wanda was going to do.
A moment later, Tony reached forward to grab his drink and take a sip of it, only to stick his hand through the glass…
Where a nearly empty cocktail previously sat was nothing more than an illusion.
Theo’s eyes darted to Wanda, who stood behind Tony sipping his drink. Theo had to bite back a laugh as Wanda grimaced and shook her head, not a fan of whatever Tony had in his lowball.
“What the hell happened to my drink?” Tony whipped around, looking to see if someone had hidden it. His eyes settled on Loki, who glanced around at the others as he held his own drink, casually taking a swig. Either Loki hadn’t noticed, or he was really good at keeping a straight face.
“Reindeer games, I swear to god-”
“I thought we’d moved past such childish accusations.” Loki cocked an eyebrow at him, unamused.
“He didn’t move, Stark. Chill.” Bucky defended the Asgardian prince.
“Well someone took it, and it wasn’t Captain Stick-in-the-Mud.” Tony retorted, looking around the group. The glass vanished from Wanda’s hand before Tony could see it, presumably returning to the table where it started.
“Okay guys, this isn’t funny,” Tony whined, completely oblivious to his beverage’s return to the table.
To her left, Theo caught Loki taking a large drink of whatever was in his cup to stifle a laugh – he knew exactly what Wanda was up to.
Just then, Tony turned back around to discover his drink in its original location. He groaned, slouching back in his seat. “Anyone who wants to turn in their cape for stand-up comedy, just let me know.”
As he returned to his story, Wanda winked at Theo before sending her a text message– “So we have a game during family time...”
Theo stared at the screen for a moment before typing out a reply. “Which is…?”
Wanda’s face lit up as she read the message; a playful smile pulled across her lips as she typed out a reply. “How many pranks can we pull off before one of us starts laughing.”
Suddenly, a message from Loki popped up as well. “The only rule is that no one should be harmed. Otherwise, it’s fair game.”
Oh. Apparently Loki was playing along too.
Another message from Wanda came in: “You want in?”
Tempting, but with her reputation…
“Sounds fun, but not sure…” Theo responded, “I don’t know that the others trust me. Pranking them might make it worse.”
“If anything, they’ll believe I am the perpetrator,” Loki assured her via text message. “My affiliation with mischief and trickery lends itself to suspicion.”
Not only did Loki speak like he just read a thesaurus, but he even texted like it.
Theo stared at the screen for a moment, weighing her options. On one hand, she could stand to loosen up a little and have some fun. On the other hand, pranking someone could go over like a lead balloon if the prank didn’t land well; she needed to be confident that whoever she pranked would not be upset if she partook.
By then, Sam launched into a story about his last trip to see his sister and nephews in Louisiana. Bucky had tagged along, in part because the point of the trip was to fix up the Wilsons’ boat, and Sam knew he’d need an extra set of hands. A pigeon waddled about on the roof, only a few feet from where Sam sat. Sam, however, was oblivious to the bird’s presence; he was too busy mimicking how Bucky stole Sam’s tools to fix a leaky valve instead of simply using his vibranium arm.
After over a month of listening to Julie pine endlessly over Sam and his down to earth personality, ass of a national treasure, and good-natured sense of humor, Theo swore she knew more about Sam than she knew about her own cousin…
An idea sprung to Theo’s mind. She set her glass on the table, casually lowered her hands out of sight, and whispered an incantation.
“How do you know vibranium would hold up to the steam?” The pigeon asked, cocking its head to the side as it waited for an answer.
Sam nearly leapt out of his seat as his eyes bugged out of his head.
“Wait a minute, wait just a minute – please tell me you all just heard that.” Sam stared at the others as they all gawked at the pigeon. Theo, however, snatched her glass and took a sip of her old fashioned so she didn’t give herself away. “Did that bird just talk?”
“Falcon, I did not realize that your skill set included speaking to birds.” Loki answered without missing a beat.
Theo nearly spit out her drink as she fought the urge to burst into laughter.
“Hey, just because I’m called Falcon doesn’t mean I like birds.” Sam argued, a twinkle in his eye as he settled back into his chair. He must have known there was some magic at play; if Theo was lucky, he would not know whose magic created the illusion.
“I want some of whatever he’s drinking,” Theo pointed at Sam, pretending to be oblivious about the use of magic so she did not draw suspicion. “Because that must be some good shit.”
“No,” Tony replied, “The good shit is the Asgardian stuff.”
“That stuff will knock you on your ass unless you’re a god,” Sam agreed with a toothy grin and a nod. “Even the super soldiers get drunk on it.”
“Tony, I’m assuming you tried it?” Sharon asked, narrowing her eyes at the billionaire.
“Of course I did,” he scoffed, putting a hand on his chest, “I am a connoisseur - had to see if the hype was true.”
“Until you had the hangover from hell the next day.” Natasha pointed out, a smirk dancing on her lips while she crossed her arms.
“Please,” Tony retorted, “It barely holds a candle to the frat party from hell-”
“-in your second year at MIT.” Rhodes, Sam, and Steve answered simultaneously, all rolling their eyes.
Tony must have told that particular story a time or twenty before.
“Lady Theo,” Thor called from behind the bar. “I’m about to refill my beverage. Would you like to try some Asgardian ale?”
Theo glanced over at Loki and raised her eyebrows at him, hoping he’d give her some sort of subtle cue about whether it was a good idea; he just smirked at her and winked.
Not helpful at all.
Then again, the night had gone well up to that point…
“Sure, why not?” Theo replied with a short shrug of her shoulders. She assumed that he’d take a shot glass from the bar and put a little ale in the glass - it may fuck up a normal person, but that was probably only when consumed in large quantities. A small amount of the ale wouldn’t hurt, right?
What she didn’t expect was Thor to bring over a massive mug of ale, filled to the brim.
“That’s alcohol poisoning about to happen,” Yelena cracked up as she saw the size of the mug.
Nearby, the Valkyrie cackled. “Thor, remember that Midgardians can’t handle booze like you can.”
“My liver hurts just looking at that.” Bruce commented, letting out a nervous chuckle but shaking his head.
Well, whether she wanted to share or not, the Avengers were going to learn something new about Theo.
“Oh, that’s what healing magic is for. Healing your liver after alcohol damage.” Theo quipped, earning a surprised snort out of Tony. A surge of confidence rushed through her as she winked, glanced at the deep red, clear liquid, then took a drink.
Given the ale’s reputation, Theo expected it to taste like everclear - practically straight ethanol that burned when consumed. However, a delightful, complex blend of flavors - citrus, juniper, and caramel - coated her mouth. Only a hint of hoppy bitterness accompanied, but each flavor in the unlikely combination balanced the others surprisingly well.
Theo smiled and gave Thor a nod of approval. “That’s better than I expected,” she admitted before she took another drink. “I was expecting something that burned my mouth from the alcohol content, but this is downright pleasant.”
“I bet you twenty bucks you can’t finish that.” Bucky challenged, a smirk spread across his features as he leaned back into his seat.
Bucky had no idea what he was getting himself into.
“The bet is just that I can’t finish it? That’s boring. Of course I’m going to finish it.” She scoffed, rolling her eyes. Sitting up a bit taller, she puffed her chest out in defiance and drank a large swig of ale.
“The real bet would be if she doesn’t throw it up afterwards – just because it goes into her system doesn’t mean she won’t get sick from it.” Steve pointed out, “Not that I think this is a good idea, mind you.”
Remarks like that were probably how Steve earned the nickname of “Captain Stick-in-the-Mud.”
Theo whipped out her wallet, throwing a $20 bill down on the table. “Game on. $20 bet that I can drink this and keep it all down.”
Bucky reached across to shake Theo’s hand before putting in his own $20 bill.
Shuri and Yelena whooped in support, pumping their fists in the air. Bruce sighed as he shook his head and rubbed his temples. Steve rolled his eyes, while Clint smirked and shot Scott a look of well, this should get interesting. Peter’s eyes widened, despite furrowing his brow - he looked like he was worried.
What a sweet, sweet summer child.
Theo took another sip of the ale, then spoke up. “We need some tunes playing. It’s too quiet up here.”
“Oh! I have some new music we can listen to!” Wanda jumped at the opportunity to hook her phone up to the wireless speakers. “It’s a local band that Vision and I saw last week. Theo, I think you’d like them – they sounded kind of like the music your band played.”
It was hard to imagine Vision at a concert, standing there with relatively stiff posture as other people were grooving to the music… He must have really liked Wanda to let her bring him to concerts. Did he like the same music as her?
Did he even like music?
Did androids have likes and dislikes? Or feelings? How did that work?
That was a rabbit hole to go down another day.
What sounded like some generic indie-pop music started to float through the air, but it was pleasant enough to be good background music.
Loki sent another message – this time solely to Theo. “Are you truly planning to drink the entire mug?” Theo looked up at him, his eyebrow cocked up with skepticism and his chin dipped as he made eye contact.
“Maybe I am.” Theo replied, smiling at him and winking as his phone buzzed.
Asgard wasn’t the only realm with particularly strong alcohol, and despite Theo’s small size she was no lightweight.
The group resumed their casual chatter. Wanda, Theo, and Loki continued to cast illusions and mess with the team in subtle ways, oftentimes struggling to maintain a poker face as the rest of the team grew drunker and drunker, and as a result became much easier to mess with.
Eventually, Thor regaled the team with one of his latest adventures off-planet, voice booming as he gestured grandly about some battle he fought in. As the story started to near its climax, Theo caught the way Loki’s hand moved quietly to his side and twitched as he cast a spell.
Theo’s eyes darted around as she tried to figure out what changed – it wasn’t until she looked up at Thor that she found her answer:
Loki transformed Thor’s mug so it was shaped like a giant penis… while Thor drank out of it.
Wanda, who stood beyond Thor’s line of sight, lost it, face beet red and shoulders bouncing as she doubled over in silent laughter.
From what Loki previously shared, Thor reveled in sharing stories where he prevailed as the savior of the day. With that in mind, the choice to make Thor look absolutely ridiculous as he drunkenly extolled his heroism seemed like it was as much a jab at his self-importance as it was just plain old hilarious. Theo hadn’t taken Loki to be one for juvenile humor, but she had to hand it to him – it was well-played.
Even better, Thor didn’t even notice the change – he set the mug down on the table as he continued his story, and later on picked it up to take a swig to wet his throat.
It didn’t take long before the others started to notice the mug’s new shape. The Valkyrie looked like she about to keel over; her shoulders shook so hard from silent laughter that if Thor turned around he’d know something was off. Natasha had to bite her finger to stop herself from breaking into laughter. Steve and Peter shared wide-eye, startled expressions, leaning away from Thor… who still hadn’t noticed.
The more time that passed without Thor noticing, the funnier the spectacle became.
Finally, Sam finally couldn’t take it anymore.
“Wow Thor, you’re really swallowing that ale like a champ.”
Tony choked, then spat out his drink while the people around him recoiled from the spray. Steve turned downright crimson with secondhand embarrassment, hiding his face behind his hands.
“Yeah, you’re really gripping the shaft of the mug like it’s your job.” Bucky added, trying and failing to keep a straight face as Thor looked over at Tony and Steve, confused.
Theo’s eyes watered from trying not to laugh, and her jaw hurt from the muscle tension involved with maintaining her poker face.
“Dammit, I’m biting my tongue so hard to stop from laughing that it’s bleeding.” Wanda’s message popped up in the group chat, while Loki still effortlessly maintained a completely straight poker face and relaxed posture.
“I thought you were a bit too high-brow for a good dick joke…” Theo added, fingers tapping the screen furiously as she replied.
“I know not of what you speak,” Loki answered innocently; he glanced over at Theo and winked, then followed his message with an eggplant emoji.
Wanda nearly spit out her drink when she got that message.
Thor finally put two-and-two together as he looked down at his mug, then glared at his brother; however, he was laughing despite the glare, giant shoulders bouncing up and down. “Why must you taunt me so?”
“I hold no responsibility for this madness!” Loki protested, though the sparkle in his eyes told Theo that Loki knew he wasn’t going to convince them otherwise. “God of mischief I may be, but I’m hardly the only capable sorcerer on this team.”
“Well Theo’s been too busy downing some Asgardian ale,” Bucky commented, “And Wanda… Wait a minute. Wanda?”
They all turned to look at Wanda, who gave a deer-in-the-headlights expression as she pretended to be horrified. “The fact that you could imagine me doing this is mildly offensive,” she exclaimed, silently glaring at Loki. “Besides, Strange can cast spells too.”
Everyone looked over at Dr. Strange; one unamused eyebrow raise was enough to dispel any thoughts that he’d been the one behind it.
“Let’s be real – Reindeer games would be the one to make that joke.” Tony pointed out, “Which… well played, I’ve gotta say. Not much makes me spit out my drink like that.”
Loki smirked, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. “You need to raise your standards, Stark.”
Steve, who was still mostly sober and desperate for a change of topic, looked back at Theo and noticed her nearly empty mug. “Wow, you weren’t kidding about finishing the ale.”
In turn, Theo downed the remaining ale and placed the mug on the table. “Yeah – It was good. But I’ve gotta say, for all the talk about how it will get me drunk, I still feel pretty sober. Are you sure you weren’t messing with me? This isn’t some fraternity-style hazing thing to bring a new team member on board?”
“No, my lady,” Thor confirmed, “That was genuine Asgardian ale. I must say, I’m impressed.”
Theo cast a glance over to Loki before sending a text. “You didn’t mess with this, did you?”
“I would never deny someone the opportunity to get drunk.” Loki looked dead serious as he sent the message, so she took his word for it.
“Well shit,” Bucky replied, his words slurring ever-so-slightly from his own alcohol consumption. “How about double or nothing – we each drink a mug of ale, and whoever is more sober at the end of the night gets $40.”
Steve tried to cut in. “Bucky, no –“
Bucky, yes.
“Deal.” Theo shook his hand again, confident that she was about to become $40 richer. Not only was Bucky already more drunk than her, but the Asgardian ale would only exacerbate the difference in their sobriety levels.
He probably wouldn’t end up with alcohol poisoning, so it’d be fine. Maybe a hangover, but not alcohol poisoning.
“Now here’s the thing -” Bucky began, “- Before your mug can be refilled, you have to do the Asgardian call for another drink.”
“Which is…?” Theo arched a wary eyebrow, unsure if she wanted to know the answer.
With perfect timing, Thor finished his beverage and demonstrated by throwing his mug down on the ground, shouting “ANOTHER!” as the glass smashed against the concrete and shattered into a million pieces.
Theo gasped and nearly flew out of her seat from the noise, heart pounding in her chest. She looked at the glistening fragments of glass, then up at Thor, then back down at the glass.
.
Thor failed to stifle his laughter as Loki rolled his eyes in the background; with a flick of his wrist, the shards of glass vanished in a flash of emerald light.
“Yeah that’s going to be a hard pass from me, dude.” Theo shook her head, stood up and walked over to the bar to refill mug. While she was behind the bar, she also pulled out a fresh mug for Bucky.
“Oh no, you don’t get to pour – we need someone neutral to do it, so we know it hasn’t been messed with!” Bucky called out, shaking his head at her as he moved to join her at the bar.
“Well I can certainly be the judge of that.” Loki volunteered, his voice a cool contrast to the rambunctious shouting and cheering that echoed from the rooftop.
“You’re really letting loose tonight,” Loki’s message appeared on Theo’s phone. “It’s nice to see you relax a bit.” Theo blushed and cracked a sheepish smile.
Loki strolled behind the bar, took both mugs and filled them up. Once satisfied that each mug contained the same amount of ale, he handed one mug to Bucky and the other to Theo. He then filled a mug of his own before returning to the rest of the group.
“As the judge, I reserve all right to document any embarrassing moments for blackmail in the future.” Loki told everyone quite seriously.  Shuri cracked up and added that if Loki didn’t capture the evidence, she certainly would, and with how the Princess of Wakanda held her phone at the ready, Theo fully believed her.. Theo returned to her seat, noticing Shuri had saved her place; Bucky trailed close behind.
“You say that like I’m going to do something embarrassing.” Theo teased, holding her mug up to Bucky and Loki as if to suggest a toast. “To Bucky making one of the dumbest bets he’ll ever make.”
“To the new girl finally gracing us with her presence,” Bucky replied with a wide grin, “and not realizing she’s about to lose the bet!”
The rest of the group held up their glasses and clinked them together, after which Bucky managed to drain about a quarter of his mug in one swift drink.
“I didn’t realize this was a chugging contest.” Bruce commented with a nervous laugh as Bucky set his mug down.
Theo, recognizing that rapid alcohol consumption would not help Bucky in the bet, snickered. “You can’t enjoy it if you chug it, you know that right?”
Bucky offered a coy grin in response, his cheeks flushed pink from the alcohol in his veins.
He really had no idea what he was in for.
And I feel alright (Feel alright) Yeah I feel alright, Alright… I let go This is something spiritual When I say so Give me life, give me love Leveled up on a higher dose No sorrow (baby this is chemical) Hit just like an antidote (can’t come down, down) Adios (give me, yeah give me) Give me life, give me love  Leveled up on a higher dose
This was certainly a different side to Theo than Loki had ever seen.
Her guard wasn’t up in the same way it was at Stark’s party, nor was she silent and reserved, as if it were a mission briefing or meeting. The relaxed, easygoing demeanor that Loki eventually uncovered after multiple interactions made its debut amongst the others, and for the first time since the infamous briefing, it seemed like Theo wasn’t afraid to be the center of attention.
In truth, Theo’s decision to join in the evening’s activities surprised Loki. Though Theo agreed to stop declining the invitations from Maximoff, Loki had expected that this would not be the occasion which Theo relented, as the large group could be rather intimidating. Instead, he anticipated that Theo would wait until she could verify that it would be a small gathering with ample opportunities to depart, should she grow uncomfortable.
Instead, the sight of Theo trailing behind Maximoff as they crossed the rooftop brought the first of many pleasant surprises in the evening. If the expression Theo wore when Thor addressed her provided any indication, Theo had not anticipated such a robust gathering, and for a moment Loki feared she might teleport away from the immense attention suddenly focused on her.
Luckily, that had not been the case. From time to time, Loki caught Theo glancing towards him with a silent question in her eyes, usually as if trying to assess the situation, but as the evening wore on the questioning glances decreased, replaced by smirks and thinly veiled attempts to refrain from laughing at the others.
Perhaps the greatest surprise in the evening came when Theo agreed to not only try some Asgardian ale, but challenge Barnes to what one might consider a drinking contest with the aforementioned ale. Given Barnes held two significant advantages - his substantially larger size and the physiological changes from the super-soldier serum - the odds seemed stacked against the sorceress. If anything, Loki suspected that hubris fueled Theo’s decision.
However, he was far too curious about the outcome to consider intervening unless things turned sour, and up to that point he saw no cause for concern. Theo seemed fine, continuing to engage in conversation while working through her beverage. Occasionally, Loki caught himself staring at Theo’s petite hands, her dainty fingers wrapped around the massive mug of ale. If he could be honest with himself, The juxtaposition was rather adorable.
Barnes, unsurprisingly, was the first to finish his ale. Theo, however, was not far behind.
“I have a proposition.” Banner spoke up, looking between the empty mugs with a twinkle in his eye. “I think we should give these two a field sobriety test and see who is more sober… For science, of course.”
Loki, unfamiliar with the test Banner mentioned, hesitated. “And what exactly does a Midgardian sobriety test entail?”
“Oh, it’s easy.” Theo assured him, standing up and stretching both arms overhead. “You just answer some questions and do some basic tasks, like walking in a straight line and balancing on one foot for a while.”
Loki studied Theo with some doubt; when she didn’t notice, he messaged her. “Are you certain it will be so simple?”
Theo typed and sent her reply without even looking at her mobile’s screen. “Bucky’s about to get destroyed.”
Barnes swayed the moment he stood up, nearly tripping over his own feet as he made his way towards the area where they set up the test. He hadn’t even walked half of the line marked out before it became clear as crystal that Barnes was utterly toasted.
Theo, meanwhile, seemed only lightly buzzed. She easily completed the straight line test… while walking on her hands.
“A woman after my own heart,” Romanoff laughed, clapping as Theo finished the test. “It’s not often we have team members who are able to move like that.”
“Girl, you’ve gotta teach me how to do that,” Shuri exclaimed, “That’s dope as hell!”
Theo gracefully returned to her feet, pausing for just a moment to adjust her clothes before she feigned a curtsy and smirked at Barnes, who simply groaned from where he sat.
From what little Loki knew of Theo’s background, the ability to walk on her hands came as no surprise - she had formal training in acrobatic maneuvers, and her goaltending demonstration highlighted her agility. Yet, she did not seem like the sort who would walk on her hands for fun… Though from what he had seen, she certainly was the sort of person who would do so to prove a point. Quite frankly, It was the kind of thing that Loki might do if he were in her position.
All things considered, it seemed like Theo might share Loki’s penchant for mischief and trickery.
“Normally gods are the only ones who don't get knocked on their ass by Asgardian ale.” Stark commented, brow furrowed and eyes narrow as he studied Theo.
“Asgard isn’t the only place with abnormally strong liquor,” Theo casually explained, shaking out her shoulders and stretching her neck. “There really are some places with nothing better to do than drown your sorrows!”
Loki couldn’t help but laugh at her comment, though the choice of words piqued his curiosity. Of course there was the realm she refused to speak of, yet it sounded as if Theo referred to more than one location. Had she visited other realms as well?
Surely, she was exaggerating.
“You’re talking about Michigan, right?” Stark teased.
“No, I’m talking about spending time with you.” Theo deadpanned, winning a lively round of jeers and laughter of the group.
Not done showing off, Theo proceeded to balance on one foot for five minutes while casually discussing the merits of different types of alcohol that she’d encountered and how the Midgardian body metabolized alcohol, far longer than the 30 seconds that were required for a field sobriety test (at least, according to Doctor Banner). Gesturing vivaciously as she spoke, Theo’s eyes lit up with amusement as the others laughed along with her commentary.
As someone who was an expert at embellishing stories, Loki could tell when Theo added flourishes or exaggerated details. However, any talented storyteller understood that the best tales required a bit of panache, and Theo was no exception. While the others may not have noticed, to Loki, it was painfully obvious that Theo knew she was putting on a show.
“Okay, I think at this point there’s a pretty clear winner.” Rhodes snickered as Barnes laid down on a sofa, complaining about the way the world spun..
Theo happily took the $40 that Barnes previously threw down on the table, smirking as she dramatically tucked it into her wallet.
“Is anyone hungry? I could go for some pizza right about now.” Maximoff asked, looking around at the others.
“FRI, you heard the lady!” Stark lifted his head as he spoke up to no one in particular. “Well… I was actually thinking we could go out for pizza?” Maximoff suggested, shrugging her shoulders as she pointed behind herself towards the elevator.
Frankly, after such lively conversation and company, Loki was nowhere near ready to turn in for the night… Even if “going out” was not his preferred activity, perhaps it was worth accompanying the others on their venture.
“As much as I’d love to, I should probably make sure Bucky gets to bed in one piece.” Rogers replied, his point amplified by Barnes’ unintelligible grumbles.
“Yeah, it’s getting late –” Banner glanced at his watch before he stood up. “I’m ready to call it a night.”
“I’d join you.” Loki nodded at Maximoff, lightly shrugging his shoulders.
“Pizza sounds like fun.” Belova pushed herself up from her seat. “I’d go.”
“I’m down!” Shuri added, stretching as she rose to her feed.
Theo had yet to respond, eyes darting between the others as they responded. She didn’t seem tired, but experience indicated she would not opt-in unless clearly invited to attend
“The night is young – why not enjoy some excellent company for a little longer?” Turning to Theo, Loki offered a wry smile as he offered a hand to help her up. “Would you care to join? I suspect Maximoff would even let you select the pizza place…” He shot a knowing glance to Maximoff, who grinned and nodded.
“Sure, I suppose I can come along.” Theo perked up, mirroring Loki’s smile as she accepted the gesture, and allowed Loki to pull her to her feet. “I’m not sure what my options are for pizza around here, so I would defer to someone else to choose.”
Loki felt a bit of heat creep up on his cheeks - he ought to have remembered that Theo only recently became a resident of Midtown, so her knowledge of local eateries would be limited at best.
“Oh, there’s lots of great options nearby!” Parker exclaimed, bouncing up from his seat. “My favorite is–”
“She didn’t tell you to pick a place,” Shuri held a hand out to stop him as she smirked.
Parker replied with a pout, crossing his arms to make a point.
“If you tell me what place you want to go to, I’ll suggest it,” Theo winked at the spiderling.
“That’s not how this works!” Shuri protested, turning to Theo and covering her heart with mock offense.
“Okay, okay,” Theo held up her hands, laughing as she shook her head. “Wanda, pick a place since you wanted pizza and I have no idea what’s good around here.”
“I can do that - Vis, you coming?” Maximoff beamed at Vision, reaching for his hand.
“I shall accompany you.”
And off they went, in search of pizza.

If anyone had asked Theo that morning how she expected her evening to go, drinking a supersoldier under the table and then going out for pizza at one in the morning with some of the Avengers would not have come to mind. Yet, in another edition of “my life is stranger than fiction,” that was exactly how Theo’s night played out.
The pizza place Wanda recommended was fairly close to Avengers tower - down an alleyway and through a side door, the restaurant sat tucked in the basement of a bar that Theo recognized because she played a couple shows there a while ago..
When they first walked in, the atmosphere practically screamed “hole in the wall.” The lights were kept low - low enough that it was easy to hide the dirt permanently coated on the floors. The smell of cheese and cheap beer lingered in the air. Even at the late hour, the place was packed. Perhaps the low light was to their advantage - no one seemed to notice the group of superheroes as they made their entrance, which was a relief. It took Theo back to the midnight hours in Durham. Her friends drunkenly crowded into booths for food after spending the night getting guys to buy out the bar for them. Theo had to play along in those days in order to hide her magic and its effects on her body - however, the lack of drunkenness meant she was still able to recall the exact way the place felt. And this… this felt all too familiar.
When they found an empty booth, they wasted no time claiming it as their own, even if it meant they had to squish together so everyone fit. With the way they packed themselves together, Theo couldn’t help but notice Loki’s body against hers, steady and firm without encroaching on her personal space. Loki may have been her first friend among the Avengers, but that didn’t mean they were ever quite so close. From Theo’s observations, Loki seemed like he avoided physical contact whenever possible, recoiling from Thor’s touch and carefully distancing himself when anyone else drew near. Really, Theo couldn’t remember ever having made any physical contact with him that wasn’t an accidental brush of the hands when they handed items to each other.
Despite feeling a bit thrown off by the touch, she wasn’t uncomfortable… If anything, it was actually kind of nice.
Not that she was going to say anything, because that would absolutely make it weird.
The effortless, lighthearted conversation that started on the rooftop continued the moment they sat down, even as everyone made quick work of the first round of drinks and the pizza, continuing to the extent that it wasn’t long before they ordered another round of drinks.
After the waitress delivered the second round of drinks, Wanda swallowed the bite of pizza she had been chewing, then spoke up.
“Thank you.” Wanda paused, considering her words. “For coming out tonight, that is. This has been fun.” She beamed at Theo. “I’m glad you have a sense of humor. The pigeon was well played.”
Theo blushed, biting back a smile. “Thanks for letting me in on the fun… though I have to say, I think Loki took the trophy home for best prank of the night.”
This time Loki didn’t try to deny it, grinning with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. “It is important to remind my brother to stay humble… ‘Tis best to not allow his ego to overtake him. Do you agree?”
Theo let out a laugh, just barely tinged with melancholy as she thought about her sister. “That is part of a sibling’s job description, isn’t it?”
“Am I remembering correctly that you have a sister?” Vision asked Theo. “I recall mention of a sibling in your file, though you’ve not spoken much on the matter.”
Theo flinched, though the motion was barely perceptible. Loki’s eyes flickered over at her - he must have still noticed.
“I do… but she’s presumed dead, like my parents. We got separated when we ended up in the other realm” Theo shrugged as nonchalantly as she could manage, but the way the expressions in the group softened told her that they picked up on her discomfort around the topic. “My Mémère – err, my Grandma – raised me after that, and she raised my younger cousin, Max; he’s practically my younger brother.”
“There’s no reason to be nervous; family is a complicated subject for pretty much everyone on the team.” Wanda assured her.
Theo flashed a thin, yet grateful smile. “Yeah, I gathered that was practically a prerequisite for joining the Avengers.”
Loki snorted at her comment.
Wanda took the opportunity to change the topic, launching into the recap of the last band that she saw in this particular place. Apparently this was one of her favorite spots to go when she wanted to blend in and have some fun, especially since the poor lighting made it hard to be recognized.
As Wanda spoke, Theo noticed a young couple making out next to a jukebox and couldn’t help but smile at the sight – they may have assumed that the poor lighting obscured them from view, but their affection was sweet. Another wave of nostalgia from her days in Durham washed over Theo.
It occurred to her that everyone in the booth had lived vastly different lives from her own: a literal princess sat next to a kid who grew up in Queens; an orphan sat next to an android, who sat across from a frost giant/literal god, and on Theo’s opposite side was someone who trained to be a spy since before she could walk. However, Theo didn’t feel like a fish out of water. On the contrary, she actually felt like she belonged there, sitting in this cramped booth with six other people who knew what it was like to be different. And the best part was, she didn’t even have to hide what made her unique.
Her heart warmed at the thought.
By the time they finally left the pizza place, it was nearing three in the morning – the sun would rise in a few hours, however Theo was still wide awake. Wanda must have sensed that Theo was still ready for an adventure because she paused outside, looking in the direction opposite the tower.
“So where are we going now?” Theo inquired, looking between the others.
“Given you have a high alcohol tolerance, I think we should do some bar hopping,” Wanda offered, “This is New York, after all, the city that never sleeps. We might as well make it a proper night out!”
“The princess is out of her tower and there are some fine establishments nearby.” Loki added, a smug expression curling over his lips as he crossed his arms. Shuri cracked up, entirely aware that Loki was referring to Theo and not to her.
“I don’t know why you’re calling me a princess when we have a literal princess with us.” Theo offered a playful scoff in response to his joke, pointing at Shuri.
“The literal princess had a great time, but she’s gotta go back to Oakland tomorrow.” Shuri smirked and took a bow. “So I’ve gotta call it a night.”
“Yeah, I have a biology exam I need to study for tomorrow, so I should get some sleep.” Peter agreed.
“I head out for a mission bright and early,” Yelena sighed, “So I should probably go too.”
“They may be ditching us, but I’m down to go check out the bars,” Theo offered. “But I hope you don’t make the same mistake Bucky did - that might not go as well, since you aren’t a super soldier.”
Wanda laughed freely, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “Oh no, I’m not about to try and match you drink for drink. Consider this our way of giving you a tour of the neighborhood!”
Vision, of course, was also fine with bar hopping; as long as Wanda was there it seemed like he would be happy.
After bidding goodnight to Shuri, Peter, and Yelena, the remaining four Avengers departed for the first bar. The cover of night provided protection from the stares that Theo expected to get walking down the street, though it was likely helped by the decrease in people out and about at the odd hour.
The quartet moved between local bars seamlessly. The sight of the Avengers didn’t draw the looks Theo would have expected most celebrities to draw - the other three, apparently, were regulars. They chatted with other customers and joked around with the bartenders, always making a point to casually slip an introduction to Theo in the mix without making it awkward. More often than not, the other customers would buy a round of drinks for the group as a way of welcoming Theo to the team, and before Theo could respond either Loki or Wanda would accept on her behalf.
If Theo didn’t know better, Loki and Wanda were on a mission to see just how much alcohol it took to get Theo drunk; frankly, as long as Theo wasn’t the one footing the bill, she didn’t mind the opportunity to loosen up a bit.
As the sun crept over the horizon, Theo felt the warm buzz that came with mild inebriation, having consumed enough alcohol to finally overcome her obnoxious tolerance.
Loki had a slight flush to his cheeks and a hint of glassiness in his eyes – there was no way that he could become intoxicated from what a human would drink alone, but between the Asgardian ale he consumed earlier and the other drinks, he seemed more relaxed than usual. Up until that point, Theo noticed that even when relaxed, Loki always had this air of being immensely composed, but that night it seemed like he let some of that properness fall away and let his guard drop ever-so-slightly.
In contrast, Wanda was comfortably drunk, allowing herself to hiccup and giggle freely while slurring some of her words. Not messy drunk by any means, thanks to Loki and Vision switching out some of her drinks for Shirley Temples when Wanda wasn’t looking (given how easily they managed the feat, Theo guessed it wasn’t the first time they had swapped her drinks so she didn’t get sick).
Vision was the only one who was sober, but that had to be a normal occurrence… Not shockingly, it was impossible for an artificial intelligence system to process alcohol. Theo found it odd to watch Vision eat and drink like a normal person, since he didn’t actually digest food and that he didn’t even need to eat to function. The sight was even more jarring when he camouflaged himself to appear like a person and not an android, which he did anytime he ventured into public.
Still, it wasn’t the weirdest thing Theo had ever seen…
With the sun peeking over the horizon, bringing with it the impending arrival of the morning, the group agreed it was time to return to the tower. While there was nothing on their agenda for the day that they had to prepare for, by that time everyone had been awake long enough that they were more than ready for bed. Vision and Wanda led the way, Vision wrapping his arm around Wanda to help her stay steady as she giggled and cooed endlessly at him, utterly lovestruck each time she looked at her partner.
Behind them, Loki and Theo strolled beside each other in comfortable silence. As they moved, Theo discreetly observed Loki. His normally upright, regal posture had softened. His eyes gazed out into the distance, though it didn’t seem like they had a fixed point of interest. He kept his hands in his pockets, and his expression reserved - just the slightest hint of knitted brows adorned his expression.
The man beside her was different from the Loki that Theo first met, or the Loki she saw earlier in the evening – the sharp, charismatic, and sarcastic prince was replaced by a much quieter, introspective man. Even with the faint warmth of the alcohol in Theo’s system, she could sense storms swirling in his mind that were locked away from public view. She couldn’t help but wonder how often he allowed that side of him to show.
When they arrived at the tower and made their way up to the residential floors, Theo couldn’t help but notice the way that Loki held the elevator door for her, and how he placed his hand on the small of her back as she passed by. It must have been the way that Loki was raised that made him do those things - as a prince, he must have been taught these types of gestures as a part of proper etiquette - but the feeling of his touch lingered long after his hand left her back.
No one else was around, which meant that it was either too early for the others to be up, or those who were already awake were off doing something else. Those moments of stillness were rare in the tower, and after a long but fun night out, Theo was grateful for the peace and quiet. Up ahead, Wanda giggled and squealed as Vision patiently coaxed her towards their suite. It didn’t take long for them to disappear behind the door, leaving Loki and Theo to themselves. The pair’s comfortable silence continued as they made their way down the hall, pausing outside the door to Theo’s suite.
“This was a lot of fun,” Theo commented to Loki, a shy smile on her lips as she took hold of the door handle, but refrained from opening the door.
“Indeed,” he nodded, sticking his hands back in his pockets and shifting his weight back onto his heels as he gave her a nervous smile. “I’m glad you’ve come out of your shell a bit more – it is nice to spend time with you.”
They both stood there, biting back smiles as they looked into each other’s eyes. In the peace of the tower and the sun rising, there was almost a special sort of peace that fell between them - a moment frozen in time.
Eventually though, that moment had to end.
Theo cleared her throat, a rising heat now present on her cheeks. “Well, I should probably…” Theo trailed off, gesturing that she was going to head inside. “Uh, good night Loki.”
“Right,” Loki blushed, looking away as he dipped his head. “Good night Theo.”
Theo found herself reflecting on the night as she got ready for bed. Yes, Loki, the little bastard was right - the Avengers, for all their initial assumptions and hesitations, genuinely did want to be her friend.
And despite every reason why Theo shouldn’t want to, at the end of the day… She wanted to be their friend too.

Loki: I’m proud to identify as morosexual. I’m attracted to dumbasses and dumbasses exclusively. Someone asked me what the Spanish word for "tortilla" was once, and now I dream of kissing them under the moonlight. Y/N, completely oblivious: What kind of animal is the Pink Panther? Loki, already taking off his clothes: God, Y/N, you’re so fucking stupid.

For Better or For Worse
Chapter 6 Next Chapter Series masterlist
Loki x female reader
18+ | this fic contains angst, swearing, adult themes
Tumblr media
The tears had subsided, your head still pounding as you dried your eyes. Your body felt weak, you felt defeated. You wondered why you even came back, it wasn’t worth it, none of this was. It felt like you had just fucked everything up. You wished you had just stayed home, continued putting Loki to the back of your mind because despite how harsh he had treated you since you arrived, you still felt giddy when your eyes would meet. You still felt his voice reverberate around your body. You still had goosebumps whenever his skin touched yours. You felt safe in his arms when he helped you up in the garden, a safeness you hadn’t felt since you were married. He made you feel secure, worthy, loved. You had convinced yourself that you didn’t need these feelings, that they were futile but it was because you were alone. Being back only made you realise you missed them, craved them, you missed Loki, you craved love.
You decided it was time to go. Perhaps this trip could just have been for closure. You managed to see Loki again and his knew beau, despite how unhappy they looked together. You saw Thor again and Frigga which was good. Hopefully this was enough, enough to stop the nightmares, the dwelling, the regret, the pain. This had to be enough because once you left today, you were closing this chapter of your life, forcing yourself to forget Loki. You knew deep down you’d always love him but you couldn’t let that longing consume you any longer. He had moved on, why couldn’t you? This was the end now. You’d carry the pain of your love with you forever but this couldn’t go on so you packed your things.
Loki stood silent, staring at the spot you were just standing in once you left. He regretted his words, wished he had bit his tongue. He wished you hadn’t come back in the first place so he could at least pretend to forget. You being here was a constant reminder of the betrayal. The loss. When you first walked into the room at the will reading, he wanted you to hurt, how he hurt, but seeing the expression on your face, he knew his words were heinous, malicious and he knew that you did hurt. They were horrible and yet he still said them.
Finally leaving the attic, he made his way downstairs, entering the kitchen before raiding the liquor cabinet and settling for a whisky as he mulled over the events. As he thought, he realised that he had never truly seen it from your prospective, the fact that maybe you wished you hadn’t practically given up your child, he was too self absorbed. At the time, his heart was shattered but as time went on and he weighed up the variables, he realised that perhaps there were other reasons for your decision, maybe you couldn’t face your mistake so he stopped hating you or at least tried to and yet he still spoke to you so harshly, treated you so harshly. Sometimes he hated himself too. Despite his progress, something about actually being in your presence again irked him. When you were gone, it was easier to hate you but seeing you again, he couldn’t bring himself to and so he forced it. Emotions were confusing, he confused himself with them. He brought the glass to his lips again and realised that this anger towards you, this resentment was a deep seated love, a love for you that had never quite left him. A love that he tried to recreate with Rose but she just wasn’t you.
After you packed your things, you swung the door open to leave only to be met by an angry faced Rose. You couldn’t be bothered to give her the time of day and so you simply pushed past her and made your way down the hallway.
“Don’t just ignore me you bitch.” She hollered after you, following you down the hall.
“Just leave it Rose.” You huffed, not turning to look at her.
“I’m talking to you.” She spoke, placing her hand on your shoulder to stop your movements before you dropped your bag onto the floor and turned to her.
“What?”
As Loki poured another drink, his eyes glanced up at Thor who walked in. Thor took a seat before pouring himself a drink too. Despite Thors downfalls and how much Loki despised him, Loki still sought a confidante in his older brother, particularly when he was inebriated like he was now. He began to speak, Thor nodding along as Loki explained what happened in the attic.
“I don’t know why I said it, maybe I wanted a reaction or I wanted her to feel something—I don’t know, she just seemed so unbothered when she first arrived.” Loki explained, now knowing that he was wrong.
“You think she doesn’t hurt Loki?” Thor queried, brows knitting.
“I-I”
“She mourns Loki, more than you’d ever know.” Thor shook his head, Loki slightly confused at Thors choice of words. “She lost two people.” He mumbled.
“So did I” Loki exclaimed “and not by choice unlike her.”
“No Loki you left” Thor argued “you left her and she had to pick up all the pieces.”
Loki felt his heart hammering for a moment at the realisation of his speedy departure, he didn’t even give you a chance to speak to him, to explain, he was so angry. He felt himself slouching before he remembered his late fathers words and sat straighter. She found out so she had to get rid of it. She couldn’t face the consequences. With a newfound determination, a newfound bitterness, Loki spoke again.
“And you’d know all about that, wouldn’t you. I bet you helped her pick the pieces up good and thorough.” Loki spat.
“Loki?” Thor replied, almost questioning.
“I’ve seen the way you look at her, the way you’ve always looked at her, you think I didn’t know.” Loki continued, gritting his teeth as he thought about whether Thor even knew what he did.
“Loki stop.” Thor tried to calm him down.
“You care for her deeply, too deeply.”
“That’s enough!” Thor insisted, smacking his palm against the table.
“Is it love? Do you love her? You do don’t you? I knew it!”
“Have you gone quite mad?” Thor shouted, standing to his feet.
“You’ve ruined everything!” Rose shouted, pulling your hair as you struggled to break away from her, she was crazy. She practically launched at you when you turned around and now she was fighting you.
“Get off of me.” You screeched, managing to nestle your hand into her hair too as you yanked her off.
“I hate you.” She roared, charging at you again as you pushed her away. The both of you drew further down the hallway as you steadied yourself on the railing on the landing.
“Loki, you need to calm down.” Thor tried to manage the situation, Loki angry as he threw his glass against the cabinet, the sound of it shattering reverberating in the room.
“Just leave me alone!” Loki yelled before storming out of the room.
“You think you’re so prissy with your stupid pictures and that ridiculous—”
“Bitch.” You cut her off, slapping her across the cheek when you realised she was referring to the picture she found in Lokis pocket. That picture was precious.
“Do not call me a bitch!” She roared, pushing you against the low railing, leaning over you as the back of your legs pressed against it. “I don’t know what he ever saw in you.” She scoffed as you tried to push back against her only for her to push you again, rougher this time as your eyes widened as if you knew the outcome of this situation before it happened.
“Rose” you gasped, time speeding up as well as slowing at the same time as you were pushed over the edge, eyes closing as you began to fall.
“What a cun—Y/N!” Loki gasped, seeing the struggle as he sped towards you, knowing you were about to fall. He raced towards the bottom of the landing, falling against the floor as you crashed into his arms.

Loki's Silent Sentry
(Part 7 - Final Part!)
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5 / Part 6
Alt Ending (in progress - very sad, please read trigger warnings below and in the link)
Pairing: Loki x female reader (y/n)
I promised fluff so fluff you shall have 💚
Tumblr media
"If you do this..." Odin walks slowly to the edge of the steps, "You will no longer be my son."
"If you force me to do this," Loki answers defiantly, "It is because you failed me as a father."
You hold Loki close to you to keep him from moving towards his father. You can feel him shaking with anger but his eyes are full of pain. Loki and his father had their issues, no one could deny that, but you never thought Odin would be so quick to throw away what is left of their relationship.
A silence settles over the room as they hold each other's gaze, each daring the other to say something else. Before it can escalate further, Thor draws everyone's attention to himself.
For the second time today, Thor calls to begin the voting. "The vote will determined by the majority. Those among you who are for upholding the existing law shall vote aye. Those among you who wish to revise the law, thus revoking Prince Loki's title and status, will vote nay. Is that understood?"
The members of the council, along with the king and queen agree to the terms Thor explained. Thor nods to one of the senior members of the council and in response, he steps forward to the center of the throne room. A young man follows him with an open book and quill, you presume to keep track of the votes.
The older man turns to the throne and asks the king how he will vote. Loki's eyes are focused on the king as you wait for his decision.
Odin waves his hand dismissively towards you and Loki as he sits back in his throne. "Nay," he says in an emotionless voice.
Loki lowers his head and leans into you as he sighs deeply. You rub his back hoping one day he will heal from the wound his father just inflicted on him.
The council member turns to acknowledge the queen and asks her for her vote. She smiles at you and Loki, "Aye."
Loki's body relaxes the slightest bit but he tenses again when it is his older brother's turn. It's hard for you to read Thor's emotions but he slowly smiles and says, "Aye," loudly.
Having two of the three royals say aye must help sway the council, you think hopefully but you honestly aren't sure. Will most of them still side with Odin purly because he is the king? Or will he allow the vote to continue only to overrule their judgment in the end? Your thoughts race but they calm for a moment when Loki kisses the top of your head.
The senior council member moves to the center of the room and turns to face the rest of the council. He asks for all those voting aye to raise their right hand.
You turn your head, burying your face against Loki's chest, suddenly too nervous to watch the voting. He holds you tightly and you can hear him mumbling quietly as he counts along. Closing your eyes, you take a deep breath as a new thought forms in your mind.
The vote doesn't matter, you think. Whether they vote to uphold the law or not, you and Loki will be together. Either as prince and sentry or as two simple Asgardians.
Tumblr media
The doors to the throne room close behind you and Loki with a dull thud. You take a few steps down the empty hall then stop suddenly, barely able to breathe.
"Loki," you turn to face him. "Did that... did that really just happen?"
He smiles and puts one arm around your waist, his other hand resting gently on your cheek. He nods, "It did, love."
A wave of excitement floods through you as Loki bends to kiss you. You place your hands on his back, bringing him as close to you as possible. "I just... I can't believe it," you smile up at him.
He brushes your hair behind your ear and smirks, "The only concern we have now, is how quickly can you become a captain?"
Tumblr media
"You are dismissed for the night, thank you Lieutenant Y/L/N," the queen says as the two of you reach her chambers.
You bow, "Thank you, your highness."
She smiles as she opens the door, "Have a goodnight Y/N. Tell my son I will see him at tea tomorrow afternoon."
"I will, your highness" you reply.
"Frigga, when you are not on duty, dear," she reminds you warmly.
"Frigga," you repeat with a smile. "Have a goodnight," you tell her.
You walk confidently down the hall, excitement spreads through you as you see Loki waiting for you outside of your shared chambers. You had moved in the night of the vote, almost two months ago. Loki and you still rarely crossed paths while conducting your duties during the day, but you were able to spend every night together and you both cherished that.
You throw your arms around him and he kisses your forehead then your cheek and finally your lips. "I missed you today," he tells you as he holds you close.
You take his hand as he leads you into your chambers, "I missed you too." He uses his magic to help you out of your armor as always and he chuckles when you say, "That is one of my favorite tricks of yours."
A few minutes later, the two of you sit cuddled together on the couch. He plays with your hair gently while you rest your head on his chest and your hand on his thigh. "So... I have something to tell you," you lift your head a little.
"What's that, love?" he asks.
"You know that I went to the city on my day off last week?" you ask him.
"Of course," he answers.
"Well... I didn't tell you but I ran into one of my favorite professors from when I went to university," you tell him.
"Is there a reason you didn't tell me before?" he sits up a bit.
"I wanted to wait until I got this," you take a small scroll out of your pocket and hand it to him.
He looks at you curiously as he opens it. His eyes fall to the paper and he begins to read it, his lips moving slightly.
You anxiously wait for him to finish and when he does he looks up at you, a shocked expression on his face. He looks quickly back down to read it again. "Y/N, is this-" he starts to ask but doesn't finish.
You smile, "It's an offer letter from the university. She told me they were in need of a literature professor for the summer term."
"Y/N..." he says softly. "This is... this is truly amazing."
"I checked the class times with your mother and she says it won't be an issue to schedule your meetings around them," you add. "That was why it took me so long, I wanted to tie up all the loose ends."
"Y/N, you have no idea how happy you've made me," he says as he grips your waist, pulling you onto his lap.
You run your hand lightly over his cheek and kiss him. In between kisses you tell him, "All I want to do is make you happy."
Tumblr media
Two years later, you stand at the doors of the throne room in your dress armor at your promotion ceremony. One of the guards standing to the side of the door announces, "Lieutenant Y/L/N."
You walk down the aisle and stop in front of the royal family, kneeling in respect. The crowd gathered to either side of the room is quiet as Odin tells you to rise. He motions for you to come closer and he takes a few steps towards you.
"Lieutenant Y/L/N, you are being promoted to Captain as a testament to your commitment to protect and serve the realm. You have shown a mastery of your duties and the skills necessary to lead future soldiers," the king says loudly so the whole hall can hear him. He pins a metal to your chest and a bit quieter so only you can hear him, he says, "You will make a fine general some day."
You can't believe your ears but before you can focus too much on his comment he goes back to speaking to everyone in attendance. He explains to the crowd that you will no longer be a sentry, you will work at the academy training new recruits. He goes on to tell them you will be the youngest instructor at the academy and he will continue to expect excellence during the remainder of your career.
While he talks, your eyes wander to Loki as always. He smiles broadly at you as does his mother who is standing next to him. She whispers something to her son and he laughs a bit as he nods. You try not to make a face but you are now curious about what she said.
When Odin finishes, you kneel again and when you stand he gives you the smallest smile and says, "Captain Y/L/N."
You bow slightly as the room erupts in a series of applauds. You laugh to yourself when you look towards Thor who is clapping the loudest. He had truly become the older brother you never wanted but wouldn't give up for the world.
Loki looks as if he is going to burst with pride and his mother nods her head towards a particular section in the middle of the crowd. You glance to see where she is looking and you find your parents standing among the onlookers. You fight the urge to run over to them, it's been ages since you've seen them. They had been been assigned to guard a diplomat and his family who lived in another realm. After the shock and excitement of seeing your parents sinks in you look back towards the queen who discretely points at Loki to signal it was his doing.
Tumblr media
You stop and turn to look at Loki with a smile but your heart skips a beat when you see him kneeling next to you with a small black box in his hand.
After the ceremony you spend time with your parents, catching up on their lives and yours. They tell you how immensely proud they are of you how much they miss you. You promise to visit them now that you will have a better schedule with the academy.
Loki walks over to where you and your parents are talking and says, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but may I borrow the captain for a few moments?"
"Of course, your highness," your father bows.
"Loki is fine," he says in a friendly manner.
"I don't think that's going to happen," you tell him honestly with a light laugh.
Tumblr media
You hold his arm as he walks you through the garden slowly. After a few minutes, you stop to smell a beautiful burgundy rose and you are suddenly surrounded by a soft green glow. You giggle and spin as Loki's magic replaces your heavy armor with the same emerald and gold gown he had conjured for you at the ball so long ago.
"Loki?" you ask, your hand covering your mouth in surprise.
He smiles and takes your other hand in his. "Y/N, love, we've both waited so long for this moment, I didn't want to wait an extra second. I love you more then anything in the nine realms and I would do anything for you. You are the most amazing woman I have ever met and I-" he says but you interrupt him.
"Yes!" you tell him, nodding furiously.
He laughs, "You aren't going to let me finish? I had a whole little speech." You laugh and shake your head. "Ok, I'll skip to the end. Y/N, will you marry me?"
Tumblr media
You jump into his waiting arms, "Yes, yes! A thousand times yes, Loki."
He slips the ring on your finger and kisses you. Then he gets up, picks you up easily by your waist and spins you. You giggle and when he places you back down, you kiss him and tell him you love him.
Ok... so that was the end of this fic and I really hope you like it! It's been so long since I've written anything. I started working on an alternate ending for this based on a song I have stuck in my head.
I want to warn everyone that it will not have a happy ending. It will not be fluffy. One of the main characters will die. (I'm not saying which character cause I don't want to spoil it if someone actually wants to read it but if you message me I'll tell you who so you can decide if you want to read it)
I will have warnings on it when I've posted it but I'm just giving you all a heads up. I mostly just need to write it cause it's stuck in my brain and I have to get it out. I understand it's not something everyone will want to read and I'm totally OK with that.
I won't tag anyone unless you specifically tell me you would like to be tagged.

Happy Loki Season 2 Finale! As my gift to you here's the chapter a day early! ( The finale was amazing and it ripped my heart out and stomped on it.)
Asgard 2011
Astri was polishing her sword when Loki barged into her chambers.
"Remember the conversation we had about knocking, Loki?" She asked without looking up
His lack of response got Astri to look away from her work. Loki was sitting on one of the large pieces of furniture that decorated her room. All of his attention was on his hands as he stared at them.
"If you're upset about what happened to Thor, I'm sure he is fine on Midgard." She said moving to sit next to him. "They love him there."
"Stay back," Loki said, his deep voice suddenly scaring Astri. It was the same tone he often used when speaking to enemies in battle. It was intimidating, mean, and cold, and Astri hated everything about it.
She crossed so that she was sitting across from him, the small table felt like it was keeping her miles away from him. Loki's eyes looked red and swollen as he kept them focused on his hands.
"You've been crying." Astri observed, "What happened?"
"Nothing I can't handle." He lied.
"It doesn't seem that way? Do you want some tea? We can talk about it, I'll send for Drifa." Astri offered gently
"I didn't come here to talk," Loki said
"Then why are you here and not in your chambers?" Astri pushed, she knew he didn't just come here to sit, he had something he wanted to get off his chest.
"I don't want to be alone." He said, looking up, "You're the only thing that makes sense in this damn palace."
Okay...progress. But he definitely had something else he wanted to say, Astri would take that for now.
"You don't have to worry. I won't be going anywhere, I'll stay here with you." Astri assured knowing her words were anything but lies.
"You won't want to once you know though. That's what scares me." Loki said softly
Astri wanted to reach across the table and hold his shaking hands but his harsh tone from earlier kept her grounded in her seat, hands folded neatly in her lap. The doors opened to her chambers and two guards walked in.
"Lady Astri, the queen summons you." The one on the right said.
Astri wondered what could be amiss as she walked quickly through the halls. Loki was uncharacteristically a few paces behind her and dead silent when the guards directed them to Odin's chambers of all places. Frigga seemed frazzled and uncomposed when Astri saw her next to the Allfather. It was strange seeing her so distressed when she normally seemed to have everything under control.
"Astri, Loki." She stood and greeted them both with warm hugs. Loki's stiffened posture didn't go unnoticed by Astri.
"What happened?" Astri asked eyeing Odin's sleeping form
"He has fallen into the Odinsleep. It was too sudden this time. I fear he might not wake this time." Frigga said sadly
"He is strong, Frigga. I'm sure he will wake again soon." Astri said placing a warm hand on her mother figure's shoulder. Was this what Loki wanted to tell her? Did he cause this? The way he was acting made it seem worse than this. Odin had fallen to Odinsleep many times in the past.
The doors opened abruptly to reveal what had to be a full platoon of soldiers on the other side. When Loki turned to them they all bent their knee to him. One came forward and presented Loki with Gungnir, the spear Astri rarely saw Odin without.
"My king, Lady Sif, and the Warriors Three request an audience with you." He said once Loki had taken it from him
Astri felt her face pale when she realized what was happening. Loki seemed to have a similar reaction but quickly recovered and nodded to the man.
"I'll meet them in the throne room," Loki said, dismissing him and his fellow soldiers.
"Loki..." Astri said, reaching out to grab his hand. She didn't know what she was going to say just that she didn't want him to leave her.
"Stay here. With my mother." Loki said, pulling his hand away from her reach
   "But I want to-"
"Stay. I'll send Drifa to bring you those cakes." Loki cut her off
"Is that an order...my king?" Astri asked, the words felt bitter in her mouth.
"Yes." He hissed before turning on his heel and leaving the door.
"Come sit with me, darling." Frigga beckoned to her.
⋆⭒˚。⋆
Loki kept his word and sent Drifa with Astri's favorite cakes. They were delicate little lemon-flavored things with soft powdered sugar on top. Beyond the cakes, he had also sent her the book she had been reading for the past week along with tea and a book for his mother. Even when he was upset, he was looking out for them.
"What's on your mind?" Frigga asked, moving her eyes from Odin's form.
   "Nothing." Astri sighed
"Remember when I told you your mother and I were raised by witches?"
Astri nodded.
"That means I can see with more than eyes. Now, why is my son troubling you?" She asked
How does she always know what's wrong?
"He seemed very distraught before you summoned me here. I know it could have just been Odin's condition but it seemed to be more than that." Astri confessed, "He kept staring at his hands too, and wouldn't let me sit next to him which you know he always does."
"I think it's best if I let him tell you what's wrong," Frigga advised suddenly looking away.
"But you just asked me to tell you-"
"When Odin fell asleep, He and Loki were discussing...matters in the weapons vault. Loki told me what happened." Frigga explained, "But, it is not my place to tell my son's secrets to the world."
"But it's not the world. It's just me." Astri reasoned
Silence passed and Astri could tell Frigga was thinking about something important.
"Go to him. If he gets upset tell him he can whine about it to me." Frigga smiled
Astri groaned but stood up and went to the door anyway.
"You're sure you'll be ok alone?" She asked looking back at Odin.
"I have lived for thousands of years, darling. I will be alright." She smiled gently
Astri nodded before quietly slipping out the door. The walk to the throne room was incredibly brief. Perks of being the Allfather, your bedroom is closest to the most important room in the castle.
Loki's armor was complimented by the large throne. The green he normally donned made him look more regal as his golden helmet shone when the light hit it.
"Lady Astri. I thought I ordered you to stay with my mother."
"And I thought you weren't an uptight jerk with a stick up your ass," Astri responded
Loki's sharp gaze snapped to her and she stared up at him defiantly. He might be king now but she knew he'd never do anything to harm her.
"Leave us." He ordered the guards in the room
Astri watched him slowly descend from the throne almost as if it was for dramatic purposes. King of Asgard? More like King of Dramatics.
"What are you doing?" Loki asked, annoyed
"I wanted to talk to you," Astri explained
"That doesn't mean you can call me names like that in front of others." Loki scolded "I'm acting king now."
"The guards do not care what names the king's childhood friend calls him. I bet some of them are old enough that they saw the time you and Thor went running through the castle naked." Astri smiled
"Stop it," Loki demanded, looking around to see if anyone had entered the room
"I'll stop when you talk to me." Astri said, "Do you think any of them remember the time you went crying to Frigga after you had a nightmare from the scary story Thor told at that sleepover we had with Volstagg?"
Loki snapped his fingers in her face before she could think of another embarrassing childhood moment of his.
"Alright. We'll talk. Just stop saying crazy things." He said
"Crazy? All those things happened Loki. Just like the time you farted in front of that gorgeous boy, you tried charming who was visiting from Xandar with her family." She laughed
Loki's face had grown red as he gestured for her to follow him.
"Not another word about me as a child," Loki ordered
"The fart incident was 200 years ago. You were already fully grown at that point." She pointed out
"I'll cut your hair again," Loki said as they reached his chambers
Astri giggled as she sat down on his bed and gestured for him to sit next to her.
"I'll say here." Loki declined still several feet from her
"I'm not going to bite you you know," Astri said
"I just...don't want to hurt you." Loki softly said, piddling with his hands, a gesture Astri noticed he had down since they were children.
"You won't. Just...tell me what's wrong. I'll help you fix it. I promise." She sincerely said
"You can't. I can't. No one can." Loki said looking away from her and at his shoes
"How do you know? What's even wrong anyway?" Astri asked
"If I tell you, you'll be scared of me," Loki said quietly
"I won't. Nothing you do will ever scare me." Astri swore
A soft beat of silence passed over the room as Astri wished Loki would look up at her.
"I am a monster. A relic Odin kept here until he had a purpose for me." Loki said
"You're not a monster," Astri assured, standing and crossing the room so she was close to him again.
"You don't understand...I'm...one of them. One of those monsters who we've been told frightening stories about since we were children. I am a Frost Giant. The monster who Asgardian parents tell their children to be frightened of when they misbehave. I was nothing but a bargaining chip to Odin. Another object in this castle that represents his conquest over these Nine Realms." Loki said angrily, words cutting across the air like knives, as he finally looking her in the eyes
"What do you mean you're a Frost Giant?" Astri asked slowly, surprised at his speech.
Loki led Astri through the castle as he told her the story Odin had told him merely hours before. She stayed silent the whole time, absorbing what came from his mouth. Loki couldn't tell what was worse, her silence or what she might say about who he was. They reached the weapons vault quicker than he would have liked and soon were standing in front of the Joutun's casket.
"I will show you." He said, barely trusting his voice
"You don't have to. Let's go back to the library and read together." Astri said reaching for him again.
Loki ignored her request and placed his hands on the casket again. An indescribable coldless tingled through his body and he watched his hands turn blue once more. He felt it spread across his body and felt the soft facial lines that all Frost Giants bore rise from his skin. When he was sure he had held it long enough, he turned back to his dear Astri, awaiting her judgment.
"I understand if you want to leave," Loki said
Astri was silent as her eyes roamed across him. Her light brown eyes we taking in every inch of blue skin that Loki had exposed to her and when she was finally done looking she opened her mouth.
   "I don't care." She said
"What?" Loki balked, feeling his skin begin to change again
"I don't care what you are. Tomorrow you could show me you're actually a dragon with wings the size of me and I'd still stay by your side. What matters to me is that you're Loki. I don't care if you're blue." Astri said finally taking his hands when they had gone back to normal.
"Why?" He asked, closing his eyes and savoring how his hands felt in his.
"Because you're important to me," Astri said pressing her forehead to his "No one knows me like you do, and no one ever will."
No spoilers to the finale but I have never felt more devastated yet fufilled by a Marvel project ever. I don't think I've been this distressed since I watched Infinity War and had to watch Loki die and then 2 hrs later watch Peter "die" in Tony's arms.

Nickname: The Poet, Danny, Amor, Kaz, Spacey, Squirt,

Amos arrived on Earth in 1995, originally for a small mission for the Kree to understand and analyze connections between the human beings. He was just an new solider for them at the time, being careful and open minded about everything, he knew the mission taking photographs, scouting places and understand everyone.
But he fell in love with them, the world. Culture, people, food and services they had. The life they live being a hard one but he doesn’t mind it too much. Especially the music, sounds, films and styles. He adored it all, as if he was meant to be there! He knew he was different from the other Kree his age, he didn’t look like the others, he looked human.
Because he was—is human! With some of his memories and mannerisms forgotten from being taken over the years over there.
Sooo he went AWOL believing that since he was too young, they wouldn’t mind him gone missing guessing they would sent another experienced person to do the job. Amos changed his name and took a job in a bar becoming a poet who played his guitar there as he embraced the life on Earth.
Everything was fine until one afternoon he was working there, he noticed VERS—Carol Danvers—an Kree warrior and an young man speaking. Nick Fury, agent of SHIELD. He tried to keep an low profile around them, when VERS noticed him and called Amos over.
Fury was confused of course until VERS explained, as Amos shy away listening to the conversation and situation at hand. He sighed, even being dragged along for the ride.
In result, he met entered the SHIELD Facility meeting Coulson as him and VERS found files on the faces. SHIELD has tags on plenty of people across the country.
When he found out about that, he wasn’t proud of that kidnapping as his files said they took him when he just a young man exploring the Seattle woods stumbling upon Kree technology. He didn’t know any better, he was curious about it and wanted to understand his findings, as they knocked him out cold refusing to kill him.
Carol Danvers and Kit Ren Mills. They’re real names. Amos kept the last name part, staying as Enzo Daniel Mills. Eventually, meeting Maria and her young daughter Monica who was friends with Carol, even stumbling into Coulson while on the run.
Tumblr media
They met an little alien designed as a kitty cat named Goose, but Amos was willing to call the cat Chewie due to him recently watching Star Wars and the cat was a fur ball in his opinion. Nick even wanted to keep him!
After the overwhelming mission was over, he decided to stay in contact with Fury, becoming an unofficial member of the agency that is SHIELD. Fury code named him, ‘Spacey’ and ‘Kaz’ having him the an extra pair of eyes and ears sometimes calling in if there is an odd occurrence some part of the world.
As for Maria and Monica, he stays in touch with them. Coming over to visit with his guitar, movie nights, as they teach him/help remember the missing years he had on Earth.
And for Carol, they became friends as she nicknames him ‘Squirt’ and he rolled his eyes. They shared an experience and understanding of not knowing who they truly are, learning to become themselves and experience life themselves. Reporting their concerns on Earth & Space as well, telling Fury all about it.
Hell, Enzo is supportive of her becoming a mother down the line and encourages Carol’s path as a hero meanwhile he stays an bit of an musician.
He remembers meeting a young Michelle Danvers, being a spitting image of her mother with a love for music and a dazzling grin that portrayed some enlightened powers. Enzo blamed himself for the music part as he showed her all the type of Earthquaking music and poetic lyrics he could find. But Michelle loved it very much!
Phoebe Tonkin as The Explorer Of Healing🌌
Tumblr media
Full Earth name: Donna Winnifred (D.W.) Clark
Asgardin name: Lady Mira Damaris
Nicknames: Donny, D.W., Winnie, Ms. Clark, Mama bird and etc
Abilities: Healing anyone physical with a flick of a wrist or her fingertips. She’s also great as strategy
Relations: Lady Sif, Loki, Thor, Möbius, Fandral & The Warriors 3
Height: 5’8
Age: Over less than a thousand years old, human years 28
Basic information:
She was married to Lady Sif and in love with Fandral for a while (they’re dead now soo she’s single). She’s part of the Warriors 3 for years. Traveling the lands, healing and helping people, fights among the Realms and plenty of parties
She loves it but there was one places she hasn’t been to often nor explored every well, Earth. Sif and the warriors 3 were afraid for her safety and at odds with the idea of Midgard due to the fact it might be harmful.
Hell Thor wasn’t too pleased with it since he already been to Earth twice already but he scared she won’t adjust to it well. Yes, she already been to Midgard before when she met to get him back to Asgard in 2011 but she didn’t stay long to get an experience of it all.
She assured them that she will be fine and make sure not to get into too much trouble, promise to return back home. Even if people might see her as a witch if she uses her powers to heal someone or two, it was in her nature to help.
Due to her stubbornness and sweet tooth nature, she took to Earth’s culture with an odd turn. She had a strategy to go there and get a feel for the people, helps them secretly if she found someone hurt. Yes, Mira was scared and a little cocky to be there on her own seeing plenty of people walking past her however the fresh treats of the fall time soften her up.
She was a coffee shop in Las Vegas when it started, seeing everyone in their busy lives meanwhile other people were taking it slow. She was taking in and reading the small books they offered customers to take as entertainment, aside from the TV and music of course, Mira smiled softly taking it all in. She remembers Thor’s stories about The Avengers with their kids and Pop-Tarts, his tales about Jane, Bruce Banner and Tony Stark in their lab. The book she was reading had plenty of names in them, she decided to play around with a piece of paper writing them and try to adopt an persona with them.
Tumblr media
Ms. Clark, Winnifred, Athena, Sally, Jamie, and Ruth. None of them went right to her, at least Winnifred Clark stuck in her head. She liked it, using it as she smiled.
The next few days, she stumbled across movies in the motel she staying and walks long the park, when she saw a little girl hurt and she rushed over to her help her. She fell off the monkey bar and her arm was hurting, the little girl Maya Sullivan who in the future would grow to become a Lawyer and an TVA agent, she was pouting upset but she wasn’t scared of Mira letting her help her. Once she did, Mira told her to keep a secret as she healed her with the touch her fingers and a gentle welcoming smile. Maya gasped saying, “You’re magic like a fairy or something! Thank you so much.” The girl happily ran off and left.
Mira smiled sheepishly and felt good, accomplished what she wanted, to help anyone who came in her path. She was lucky enough for it to be a sweet little blonde like her with such firey spirit, smarts and kindness in her.
Later on though, she would be found out by Phil Coulson as he was on a mission with his team to entrap an Enchanting witch from Asgard, along with Lady Sif’s help as she was the one to come to the man originally for guidance on the matter. Once it was delivered and done, Coulson thanked both women and they thanked him in return for his efforts. Sif returned home to Asgard with a smile but Mira to stay a bit long to experience Midgard’s finest things, Coulson gave her the Earth name ‘Donna’ afterwards since she was undercover for them during that period of time of the mission.
Eventually of course, her trip to Midgard came to an end knowing she return back to experience some more. Years went by, Mira did visit Earth accompanying Thor and meeting the Avengers/Young Avengers with delightful things to remember about them. Things went as far as Mira, also known as Donna Winnifred Clark, was brought onto some adventures at the TVA meeting Möbius and the others.
Colin Donnell as Agent Of Clearnce🕹
Tumblr media
Full name: Alexander Thomas Boyd
Age: 32
Height: 5’10
Nicknames: Alex, Alec, Tommy, Agent, Stars, Chaser
Relationship Status: Singles
Friends: Henry Stacy, Maria Hill, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff, Phil Coulson, Captain Danvers and a few others
Skills: Getaway driver, sharpshooter, archery, basic training with hand to hand combat, wound care, levels of communication, distraction and etc
Basic information:
This man has no patience at all. He’s nice and flirty, but he got a temper that is always ticking. He’s quick, smart, and a tendency to lay low to do his job for an nice paycheck.
Alex was always one to shoot first, ask questions later when it came to his job not just combat but as archer as well. His father was well respected in archery, working for crime bosses around his town and a few gangsters, which let Alex down a similar situation taking down men who he had himself believed were doing wrong in his cities. Making sure he was never seen, in taking moments in 3 story buildings to land his shooting skills into someone’s back then reporting back to his boss with results.
Get in and get out.
Soon enough he was spotted in by Phil Coulson’s agents after Agent Romanoff’s gave the man a tip of someone who was in the same position as she was during a mission. Since that very night, a millionaire called Damon Calver was being an old ass and transferring his money into vials of Vertigo doses as a drug for people. Alex was originally there to shoot a couple of personalized arrows into the man’s equipment and transfer the money to end the man as bankrupt instead. Everything was going fine until SHIELD showed up, giving him a proper proposal to stop Damon from his wrongdoing and after a while, Alex accepted the request.
Afterwards, he found himself being brought in SHIELD, meeting Coulson, along with the others. They always gave the man an offer to join SHIELD, telling Alex about their organization. Saying, beforehand, things at SHIELD used to be simple but over the years things got kinda crazier due to Aliens, Androids, Asgardins and Wizards coming left and right.
Alex is a rather chill guy, a helper on the floors running around headquarters on errands and scouting cities in different departments in the area. But he never stayed forever, wanting to do things his own way but if SHIELD needed backup he would make time out of his schedule to get some work done for them.
Tumblr media
Always assigned to introduce new recruits and shipments out to people, hanging out with other agents and encounters new people every so often. He’s always someone’s right hand depending on a missions and curious on the circumstances of the situation. For example, he was tasked with getting files of the main 6 Avengers such as Bruce Banner and Tony Stark, reporting to his boss.
With his short lived medical background, Alex has always been an agent with the quick skill set to patch and take care of an agents wounds, being brought in my the medicine department for certain damage control.
Not just that, he was always well versed in wound care due to his past of being a sniper in high place taking down shots making sure where to hit and how clear his target had to be. Such as in 2011 when Thor came to New Mexico, he was one of agents tasks to taser the god of thunder to drop to his knees and shot him, if he did anything funny. It’s where he met Agent Barton that same night along with his darling wife and daughter years later.
If you ask him how many Avengers and X-Men are there, he will just tell you “Ah well, at this time there is a whole bunch of them, including their kids!”. He loves it though, since there is alway something interesting going on the news reports.
Victoria Pedretti as Assistant to the rich and famous 🖨
Tumblr media
Full name: Josie Madeline Stone
Nicknames: The helper, JoJo, Maddie, Stony, Mother Goose, Potts Jr, The babysitter and etc
Age: 24
Height: 5’3
Worked for/with: The Starks, The Felton’s, The Richards, The Osborns, The Pyms. Mostly whenever the agency sends her out
Relationship Status: Single but always willing to mingle!
Skills: Languages, hand to hand combat due to boxing classes, patience, communication and time management
Basic information:
She grew up in New Orleans with a simple education and a nice set of friends. Her family life wasn’t the best with her parents sometimes working late hours, resulting in her having to help raise her siblings and figure out what job she wanted.
She had no idea what she wanted to do, more focused on being in the moment instead and enjoying herself.
But she was always into the idea of helping others, learning about other’s experiences and taking care of people. She has been very hesitant and scared about raking on the tasks, standing in the corners watching others instead.
Eventually that resulted in her realizing she liked social work, human relations and resources, and being an honest assistance to others. She became one of the assistants for a new media companies and small businesses, eventually working her way up into working at an agency.
Due to the agency, she was tossed into becoming one of the accounting assistants for Hope Van Dyn for a while, it was a simple and rather nice experience. Soon enough, the agency would sent her to be one plenty people to bounce between The Starks & The Feltons.
The Feltons, she was a little unmotivated and tired running around the children such as Rochelle and her siblings. As well her cousin Liane when she visited was rather annoying. Their parents dropped her of as the coined phrase ‘The Babysitter’ or ‘The Help’ since they saw Joise as so young at the time and easy to please, thinking she a simple nanny.
Joise wasn’t sure if she was a right fit for helping the rich and famous families, to experience it all when she was hired for The Felton. However, she made it work finding tips and tricks to please the kids and teenagers. They just wanted some attention and a bit of freedom, so she gave that to them around the house.
As for work, it was mainly a lot of odd emails she had to respond to and events reschedule for the family. The Feltons left her in the dark for a lot things, telling her to only do as she’s told and will be payed soon enough. Josie would sigh muttered, “Pym was easier..” as she would type up another email or knock on Ms. Felton’s bedroom door to remind her of a 5 o’clock meeting. Plenty of photoshoots to attend, parties to plan, following the weekends with children going to the malls, and in house organized events. But a lot of rooms and meetings were always kept out of her hands, but due to her sources she always got a tip or two about what happened in the rooms.
Tumblr media
It was an spectacular surprise working for The Starks however. As it was, Jason who called a few agencies to send some help around the house. Whatever assistance is appreciated with 3 kids (yes, Tony Stark is a grown up kid sometimes according to him, Peggy, Maria and Pepper) for a while. Josie along with her co-workers, loved being able to stand on the sidelines and watching the routines, becoming familiar with things and helping out when needed.
Pepper loved it, Jason treated her like a little gem with how kind she was. Tony found it to be a charming addition around the house, meanwhile Maria Winter flirted with her whenever she visited.
Since Rei was just a kid at the time, he actually liked her finding it nice to have someone else beside his mother or godfather picking him up school, listening to his ideas, organizing movie nights and etc.
When Josie wasn’t playing with kids, such as giving them piggyback rides, she was handling the finer things around the house like paperwork, cleaning up the place and ordering stuff needed. As well as going to meeting with Tony and Pepper, making sure thing were always kept up-to-date and she was always in on whatever situation was happening.
Similar to other families like Reed Richard’s family. But like anything, there were families with high security and tough pasts to uncovers, and if she was lucky enough for it, she got information from them about it.
Thank you for read! Tell me what do you think about it?

Worthy (2015) | Chapter 32, "Choice & Prophecy" (End)
Disappearing sporadically in public spaces quickly becomes Cora Dempsey's least concerning problem when suddenly she captures the attention of the forming Avengers Initiative, the World Security Council, and Asgard's fallen prince all in one week. And the universe is only just getting started with her.
Worthy is a slow-burn SFW Marvelverse (films) romance between Loki and a female OC. For additional details on what canon is used, see the Prologue post.
Tumblr media
Summary: Cora arrives back in Asgard and is immediately escorted to the Allfather. The prophecy of the Realms’ end is reviewed and some light is shed on what set things to changing. A sentence is given to both Thor and Loki for their transgressions with surprising implications.
Pairing: Loki x Fem!OC
Warnings: None
Word Count: 5.4k
Tumblr media
When the blinding pulsations of light which had enveloped her receded, she saw some white spots dancing in her vision. Cora blinked them away just before she lifted her gaze to peer up at Heimdall, who wore a rather smug expression. After the moment it took her to step forward, her legs slightly wobbly from transport, she realized she'd mistaken his expression. It was one of pride.
Instead of giving his usual greeting or one of the witty remarks they'd come to trade at each meeting, he simply inclined his head and informed her, "I knew you would stop this."
"I'm glad one of us did," Cora said with a smile, her gaze faltering toward the stretch of the BiFrost and the golden palace beyond. "Updates?"
Heimdall shook his head faintly and followed her stare. "I have not seen Thor since he returned, nor Loki. Then again, I am instructed not to leave my post unless certain circumstances occur." He paused before adding, "I do know that Odin has been awakened."
Cora paled faintly. "What do you think that means for Loki? Do you think…"
"I doubt anything has been done yet. The Allfather's actions are rarely so immediate," the gatekeeper said calmly as he stepped off his pedestal, his sword giving a metallic whine as he removed it and sheathed it at his hip. "Especially when a key member of the trial party is not yet present."
"What do you mean?" Cora asked, leaning her head back to keep her eyes on his.
"A certain circumstance of my leave is imminent," he replied ambiguously before translating, "and I am to take you to Odin."
"Why?"
"I was not told, but it is not for any malicious purpose. It is likely…"
When he trailed off, Cora's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Likely what?"
"Given their past, it is likely a gesture toward you. For you to say goodbye." Cora's jaw locked at that and she put her eyes to the iridescent bridge beneath their feet. There was nothing really for her to say and, even if she could've thought of something, she wasn't sure her voice would stay steady enough to carry it. Heimdall sensed her unease and asked, "He seems changed."
"He was never 'evil'… But he made some terrible choices, did some terrible things, I won't excuse him of that…," Cora murmured, sighing as she shook her head incrementally. "But whether or not he was 'bad' doesn't matter now. Does it?"
"I wouldn't imagine so. But I saw what he supplied in Midgard," Heimdall said quietly. Cora nodded in a daze; at least someone here apart from Thor and herself knew what had transpired.
The guards parted the golden doors when they arrived and she got a couple of strange looks from them when they took in her attire. She supposed the skintight SHIELD uniform wasn't exactly normal coverage here. Their footsteps pounded faintly against the glistening floor and being back in Asgard proved to be quite the strange sensation to Cora. Especially because this time when Heimdall brought her into the fortress, she wouldn't be met by Frigga's kind, but queenly, company. The realization provided her with a quiet, hollow ache just above her stomach.
To her surprise, the guards at the entrance to the throne room stood beside already open doors and she was able to look directly through the arch to the golden throne before the dais, Odin sitting upon it once again. For a moment, she entertained the thought that this was, once again, Loki, but she was well-aware that this time, that would not be the outcome. The nearly indifferent look in Odin's aged stare confirmed that.
She continued to walk forward after Heimdall left her side, remaining just inside the throne room doorway. Cora's eyes fell to a guard at Odin's right side when the old man turned to speak to him, her gaze following him to the far door before it closed behind him. When she looked back at Odin, the Allfather was watching her thoughtfully.
When he finally spoke, his voice seemed more gravelly than she remembered. "I suppose I should begin by thanking you." Cora started to reply, but no sound fell from her lips and she simply stood there until Odin chuckled a few seconds later. "I feel that I know what you will say. That it was not your doing that caused the universe to keep on living, that it was your combined efforts with the other Midgardian warriors, my son, and his brother that saved our worlds as we know them."
"Something like that," Cora replied with a slightly embarrassed smile.
He shook his head slightly as he leaned forward and Cora found herself walking closer to the greying Asgardian king as he began to speak again. "Prophecies are made for all of time. A very few in many a millennia are recorded and revered as our eventual histories. Many assume a prophecy is unchangeable, unavoidable. That time is a linear path."
"Even here?"
"Indeed, despite our exponentially longer standing within the universe, there are some things that we share and that is a wariness of time, and a fear of its end."
At that moment, Thor stepped into the throne room after receiving a verbal summons from the guard who had left to ascend the staircase and fetch both princes from their chambers. It had seemed upon arrival that any imprisonment of Loki—at least at that moment—seemed useless. Not only was Thor now solidly on his brother's side, but this new view of Loki in a turnaround from rage and genocide caused conflict in the man who had raised them both. He saw the change in their relationship and dispositions and it caused him slight unease because he did not yet understand the full nature of it.
Loki did come in beside Thor in handcuffs, however. Not the full chained harness he'd been restrained by in his original return to Asgard after the mayhem he'd caused in the Midgardian sector called New York, but enough that, if needed, he could be easily put down.
Odin watched both men in his peripheral, not taking his immediate gaze from the barely half-blooded girl in front of him although he studied all three of them in thoughtful silence. Cora seemed to notice someone had entered the room, but she was keeping her attention upon him out of propriety, her features set into a slimly expressive arrangement of composure. He saw beneath that though, to the uncertainty. Thor wore a similar expression, though his was more stonily exuded as he regarded his father upon the throne. Loki's eyes went to Odin, then to Cora, lingered a moment, and then moved back to Odin, seeming guarded and simply waiting for what he thought to be the inevitable.
Behind her, Cora heard the faint echoes of footsteps, but she kept her eyes trained upon Odin out of respect and interest in where he was going with this. The Allfather took a deep breath and continued with renewed importance, "Prophecies may be wrong. The promise of the end of the Nine felt imminent because it was so detailed and so absolute from being constructed so long ago. Eons before this day. Prophecies may also change due to events leading up to them. Variables not originally included in the original scry."
"That seems so absurd though, if that's the case," Cora couldn't help but notice, tilting her head subconsciously. "To predict something so far ahead without the basis of how time would change the circumstances."
"It does, does it not?" Odin agreed quietly, his lips a thin line. "However, the variables didn't waver until just a short time ago. One and then another. The second of the variables to come about was Thanos. He was never intended to become a part of what we call the Ragnarök, the 'twilight of the gods' and the end of the nine realms in their entirety. His interference and rush of the event caused the unfolding of those events to change."
"Was that why he didn't succeed?"
"It was part of the reason. You were the other."
Cora's jaw dropped slightly. "But… Why me?"
"It became vastly apparent after consulting the ancestral documents in the library and the circumstances surrounding the Ragnarök that something was not matching up. The beings meant to bring about the apocalypse were more or less falling into their places… Except, it seems, for one." He didn't need to say who. "Everything was progressing as anticipated until, what I can understand, is one singular moment: the moment Loki let go of Mjolnir at the BiFrost ledge and was cast into the residual energy still lingering near the observatory, which had recently returned Thor from Midgard."
Cora's eyes widened marginally. In the few times they'd discussed how he'd managed to make it to Earth, he'd never mentioned that his trip had been unintentional. And also an act of defeat. Odin continued, "Such a tiny moment in our millennia of existence and yet it all came down to that moment for a new wave of events to begin turning into motion. Had he held on, both Thor and Loki would have likely been pulled to safety, Loki imprisoned or given a second chance, and life progressing onward as intended. Alternatively, his choice to hold on could have pulled both brothers into the void." The Allfather made a slightly impatient gesture with his hand before looking intently at Cora. "Despite the numerous possibilities, Loki let go and that choice led him to you."
"It was that simple?" Cora asked with a faint frown. "A coincidence?"
"Very little can be left to coincidence," Odin said sagely as his gaze moved to reach over her head. "I remain uncertain of how it was done, but your meeting changed the fate of the realms and the both of you, as well." Cora paused and looked over her shoulder to follow his gaze, finding Thor and Loki standing ten paces or so behind her with guards on either side. Loki looked at her briefly before glancing back up at Odin, wearing the most pristine pokerface Cora had ever seen. It made her a little sick. "All that remains of this twist of destiny…is a resolution to the remainder of a sentence."
Cora felt like she'd been punched in the gut, but in the same instant, she was angry she felt surprised at all. Odin was, at times, fair, but he was equally unforgiving. It was obvious that this was what would become of Loki's return, she'd just been stupid enough to be optimistic.
She heard a faint rattle of the chains on Loki's handcuffs as he and Thor stepped forward. "Father," Thor greeted Odin a bit curtly, standing on his brother's other side.
Odin watched them a moment before speaking to Cora without directly looking at her. "I will address the second party now."
Cora grumbled audibly, but stepped back a bit to present the brothers with space in position to Odin's throne, standing near where they'd stood just a moment before.
Once she'd made her retreat, the Allfather continued. "In the last time we spoke, you had managed to make off with your Midgardian goat and the Aether into the Dark World," he said matter-of-factly, but there was underlying upset in his voice that signaled a punishment to be made.
"Her name is Jane," Thor enunciated with restrained anger, adding quietly afterward, "and she is not a goat."
"Enough," Odin ordered and his eldest quieted out of reflex, looking all the more angry that he did so. "Though you were successful in your endeavors…eventually…you went against my word. You endangered the bloodline and the Nine a thousand times over by separating yourself from Asgard's defenses. And then you…" He'd moved his gaze to Loki. "You have committed multiple accounts of treason, not to mention acts of attempted tyranny, theft, running rogue, defiance of direct orders, subduing and impersonating the sovereign ruler of Asgard, and, of course, mass genocide in Midgard. These acts are unforgivable and no amount of justice you returned to your name in the path of Thanos in these past days may erase these crimes from your history. Do you understand?"
Thor shifted his weight forward as he moved to interject, but Odin silenced him with one look. Cora saw the slight fall in Loki's shoulders as he replied calmly, "I understand." She understood the nearly imperceptible lax in his posture to not be a sign of defeat, but a somber hope that the following decree would be one of execution. Loki would rather die than rot in a cell all over again, especially after having been free for just a while longer.
Odin watched him for a solid minute before leaning back in his throne and continuing, "Therefore, your sentence still stands. The punishment, however, I feel must be taken further. For actions past your original imprisonment."
This is it, Cora thought with some despair as it all became startlingly real in a matter of seconds. She couldn't take her eyes off Loki's back, off the armored plating on his attire. Her heart hit her ribs with every palpitation and she felt like she was starving for breath when she was clearly breathing. If it's a life sentence, make it painless. If he has to die… I hope it's quick. The simple thought of Loki falling under an ax sent chills and genuine pain through her bones. How did I get this hooked? I thought I was tougher than this.
As if he knew her inner turmoil, Loki turned his head just enough so he could see her in his peripheral. He only looked at her for a couple of seconds, tops, but it was sufficient, it seemed. For whatever his reason was for doing it. All three of them, along with the guards and Heimdall nearby, looked to Odin and waited while he stared down at Loki, pondering something the lot of them could only guess at.
Odin nodded a fraction and said decidedly, "Banishment."
The shock was palpable in the room as Odin's word passed through, bouncing off the walls to echo through the doors. "Father?" Thor inquired quietly, breaking the silence that followed.
"Loki, you are hereby banished from Asgard. No longer will you wreak havoc upon this realm and its brothers. For the length of my rule—as it will become Thor's in time—you are not to cross through these golden gates but to leave this day." Odin turned a piercing gaze over to Thor and informed him, "I have left Loki in your charge many a time and each time has failed, therefore I will hand over that burdensome duty to another." That was when he glanced past them once again. "Cora of Midgard. It is unfair of me to request something so grandiose of you, but the incompetence of my heir when it comes to the man he calls his brother is extreme. Would you take this charge and be certain he does not cause more danger to the realms?"
Cora, like the others, was in a silent state of shock, but soon came back to herself long enough to read Odin's face. He looked severe, but beyond that, there was an endeavor to make amends. Holding down a small smile, Cora inclined her head. "I will." She was unable to resist adding on, "…If I must." She just wished she could see Loki's reaction to her elaboration.
All business, Odin nodded and looked back to Loki and Thor. "You remain my heir," he said firmly to Thor and Cora remembered the Odin who had told Thor to go on to Midgard had, in fact, been Loki with a takeover plan in mind. He pursed his lips faintly before finishing his point with, "However, I would dare to think that my lifetime may have yet a few centuries more within it. At best, it will have one, which I can imagine would be long enough to spend…Jane's lifetime with her in Midgard."
Hope must've alighted in Thor's features because Odin swiftly continued to declare, "After which, you will return to this throne and take your rightful place. You will be king in my stead. And, perhaps…" He glanced toward Loki with a surprising amount of respect and subdued optimism for his character. "Perhaps you will find council in family."
Loki's eyes widened at last, as he'd kept cool throughout Odin's decrees. It was that final word that hit the hardest where he thought he could no longer ache and he found the breath to—albeit begrudgingly—reply, "I… Fa—"
"I care not for your excuses, Loki, my decision is final. You must endure the results of your actions, not one word you say will change my mind," Odin cut him off and Cora was hard-pressed not to collapse from knee-weakening relief at the absurdity that was Odin trying to be generous.
The Allfather relaxed after that, giving a nod for them to go. "I have said my fill. I will see you as you see fit." He'd directed the final statement to Thor and though Cora knew Loki and Odin were still painfully estranged, she couldn't help but feel sad that this would probably be the last time Loki would ever see the only father he'd ever known.
However, Odin was doing him a kindness. He was doing all of them a kindness by allowing both Thor and Loki to return to Midgard. Asgard needed to know that its greatest defier was punished and gone and it was Odin's duty to make it so, but the extent of his concealed warmth was more than welcome. When it became clear that it was time for them to go, a guard stepped forward and unlocked Loki's cuffs, taking the metal away as Loki ran his pale, slender fingertips over his wrists.
He and Thor both turned to walk back toward the throne room entrance, both looking to Cora immediately. The three shared knowing looks before she turned to walk out with them, glancing over her shoulder to Odin and sending a grateful smile before following them out.
Odin watched them go until the golden doors were shut behind Heimdall, who left as well. "Prosper, my sons," he said softly beneath his breath.

"I could pass out from relief," Cora said once the doors thudded shut in their wake, running a hand through her hair as she attempted to pass through the dazed feeling that fogged her brain.
"I would prefer if you didn't," Loki remarked, glancing toward the guards at the entrance. His gaze was suspicious, like he expected to be tricked. Cora would love to meet the person who could trick the "trickster god." Then she realized she'd tricked him plenty and felt herself ascend to a new state of accomplishment.
"You better behave," she warned him amiably. "I'm the one who's going to kick your ass now if you don't. And I'm pretty sure Thor would back me up on it, regardless."
"Anytime, little sister," Thor chuckled, grinning when Loki gave a withering glance between them. He glanced past Cora and she turned to follow his gaze as a few servants rolled two carts forward.
"What is this?" Loki asked and Cora could have smacked him for the condescending tone that came out of him which could only belong to a boy raised in royalty.
"Payment for her services and some for you to take along to Midgard," the smallest of the servants said, bowing his head.
"‘Payment’?" Cora repeated in confusion, glancing at the covered cart as one of the other servants flipped the corner back to show her what they meant. Her mouth went dry as she saw the cart was brimming with gold. "I… I can't possibly—"
"Yes, you can," Loki murmured near her ear. He leaned up before glancing toward the stairway. "My belongings?" he inquired toward the servants.
"They have been left for you to collect," the small one spoke up again, seeming to be the only one willing to address the banished prince. "And only what is necessary may go, so much as you may carry. Those were our instructions to pass along."
Loki regarded them briefly before nodding to himself. "I will return presently," he informed them.
"Your guardian must accompany you," the tallest servant piped up with an edge to his tone.
Loki's eyes narrowed faintly on the servant and he bristled before exhaling slowly and continued walking without turning around, even as he said softly, "Come along, Cora."
Cora frowned, but followed him up the winding stairwell to the next floor, pausing outside his chamber door when he walked inside. She'd intended to wait outside to give him his space, but a sidelong glance from a guard down the hall caused her to grimace and follow him in, shutting the door behind her. "Guard was giving me the eye, sorry," she explained as she leaned against the closed door.
"It is the norm. I don't mind either way," he said simply from across the room as he pulled a leather knapsack from inside an armoire. It looked small, like he'd used it when he was a child and didn't have much else to choose from now. Cora glanced around while she stood there, taking in the green embellishments in the otherwise gold and black room. It made sense; green seemed to be his color of choice and it suited his personality. What really made her feel like this room was his, however, was the desk by the window, overflowing with old books. It struck the right chord like nothing else in the room that was triple the size of her apartment quite managed to do.
She made an effort to not watch what he was doing just in case he wanted some privacy. It was uncertain when he'd be coming here next and she didn't want to encroach on this revisiting, despite not being able to wait outside without being judged by nearby guards. When she heard him coming back across the room, she looked up at him, noting that he now held the pack in his hands and some garments over his arm that he opted not to leave without. He also held what appeared to be a gold helmet with enormous horns under his arm.
"Is that Asgardian couture?" Cora asked lightly. Loki rolled his eyes and swung the helmet around to dangle it by one of its curved horns in his hand, holding it over her head before sliding it into place. It was heavy and hurt her neck a bit, but he seemed to get a kick out of it. "Well? Am I petrifying?"
"Truly," Loki chuckled as the helm slid over Cora's eyes. He plucked it off her head before it could hurt her and nodded for her to get the door so they could leave.
"Pfft, what, not even going to try to ravage me now that we're alone in your room?" she remarked sarcastically as she turned to get the door.
Loki arched a brow, a mischievous gleam hitting his emerald eyes. "Would you like me to?"
"Shush," she smirked, nodding for him to pass through the door first. "Let's go."
"You made the suggestion in the first place," he protested before walking into the hall, the both of them bickering amongst themselves as they went back down the stairway.

"That's it, then?" Steve asked after Cora had explained the whole story of what had happened in Asgard to him after their arrival back to SHIELD headquarters. "He's just going to stay here?"
"Until Odin's off the throne, yeah, I guess," Cora said, a mug of tea in her hands that she was just allowing to steam while she talked. They'd gotten back to headquarters after saying their goodbyes to Heimdall at the gates. Sindri and Brokkr had apparently left a scabbard for the claymore they'd made her with him to give to her, which she had sitting with her bag near her feet. She currently sat on one of the couches in a lounge on the eastern side with Steve, Bruce, and Natasha, waiting for final preparations to be made before she headed out.
Phil had volunteered to sort through the Asgardian gold with a few other knowledgable agents who had an idea of collectible worth, since his own knowledge in that department more or less started and ended with World War II Captain America memorabilia.
She'd given them permission to use the artifacts to make the beginnings of Asgardian exhibits in the American Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian, while just keeping the majority of gold bars in the cart for them. Those alone would convert into hundreds of thousands at least. She felt sick that she was being given these riches, but she couldn't help but be excited, too; she'd be able to pay off her student loans at last, get amazing care for her grandmother, buy a car that didn't have an arrow embedded permanently in the door, and even get a house without annoying roommates… The possibilities were glorious.
"Isn't that kind of surprising though?" Natasha asked conversationally, pulling Cora out of her thoughts. "From the little bits I'd heard about him, I'd figured he'd have more… Godly wrath, I guess."
"I don't think anyone anticipated him letting Loki off like that… At least as much as he could."
"It's good that he did, I think," Steve ventured bravely after a moment, earning a couple of startled glances from his colleagues. "I get the impression that he's really changed."
"I think he has, too," Cora murmured. She wasn't sure if he'd so much changed as finally found some closure in his past grievances, but it didn't matter. He was figuring himself out and that made her pretty happy for him. The only part she wasn't sure about is how he felt being stuck with her. They'd not talked about that arrangement and she didn't know if this was a blessing to her, but a curse to him. It would make sense if it were, but she tried to not read into it too much. She supposed she'd find out in time.
"Cora?"
She looked toward the door, seeing Loki there with an impatient pinch between his brows. "Agent Coulson has finished converting your funds. He said if you gave him your account information, he would just forward it there." With the way he recited the words, he was fairly certain he was just repeating what Phil had said and had not a clue what it meant. "Is there anything else you must do?"
"I…," Cora paused thoughtfully as she stood up. "I guess not."
It felt odd to be leaving headquarters after all the time she'd spent there on and off by that time and she wasn't quite sure how to react to the departure. When she left the lounge with Loki, Natasha, Steve, and Bruce all accompanied her down to the main floor, where they met Fury and the others at the elevator. Cora walked over to write down her bank account information for Phil, leaving Loki momentarily by himself. He glanced over warily when Fury cleared his throat.
"We thank you for your help during the Ragnarök and, though I can't and won't offer you a position on the Avengers Initiative, I could extend an honorary title your way."
Loki's eyes narrowed a little out of disbelief. "Are you going to hand me a trophy as well?"
Fury sighed and muttered, "Last time I try to be nice to you, you little shit," as Cora rejoined them. "You, however, have my biggest thanks. And we'd love to have you wear the emblem officially."
Cora's eyes widened with surprise and she quickly started to decline. "Oh, I—"
"The benefits are great. We're great. The job's great. You… You probably also need a job, don't you?"
Cora started to argue that she actually had a job, which was what brought her to New York, but she paled when she realized that had been months ago and she'd completely disappeared without notice. The apartment was probably trashed, too, thanks to Lacey. "Oh, dammit…," she murmured despairingly and Loki looked rather alarmed at seeing her become so upset so quickly, something he'd not seen yet.
"Come on, you've already got the uniform," Phil encouraged with his usual smile. "And you've got…a lot to hold you over for a while. But you might want to take a position out of interest, even."
His pause on the terms of her bank balance made her wonder just how much he'd managed to get her for those gold bars, but she asked instead, "Would I be a field agent then?"
"I'd let you pick your spot," Fury said honestly. "Within reason."
Cora smiled a little at that and shrugged. "Sure. I'll look into it."
"We'll find a time to talk it out," Fury confirmed afterward, cracking a slight smile. "Now go home and put your feet up. You've been through hell and back this past year."
"Huh. Wonder whose fault that was," she remarked, grinning when Fury rolled his eyes. "I'll see you guys soon. It's been awesome. Hey, wait, where's Thor?"
"Already back in London," Loki replied with a roll of his eyes. "Supposedly they are planning to move back this way in the near future. At least, that's what he's hoping to convince Jane of."
Cora smiled, rather hoping that he managed to do just that. With one last goodbye, she got into the elevator with Loki and headed down to the parking garage, where they slid into one of the hefty black SUVs and were driven through the city, away from the disrepair until they pulled into the lot of her apartment complex a twenty minute-long drive away. The roads were nearly empty with the week's events and a few lockdowns still in place while SHIELD worked on calming the world down from its state of Ragnarök shock.
They were left standing in front of the sky-high complex and Cora watched the SUV speed away before looking up at Loki instead, her brow creasing thoughtfully. "So…"
"So, indeed," Loki murmured, looking down at her.
Cora hesitated before smiling impishly. "Want to drop off your stuff and get some bagels?"
Loki stared at her lengthily before smiling and placing his helmet under his left arm, freeing up his right to hook around her shoulders and tug her close. He dropped a gentle kiss to her forehead and murmured, "I'm never living that down, am I."
"Nope. I'm hungry though, so follow me," she smirked, taking his hand in hers and towing him along as she set off toward the entrance to the building, keeping in mind one of her favorite bakeries nearby; she was fully intending on a lazy day today, but perhaps a house-shopping/debt-paying day tomorrow, now that she could afford it. It was an ordinary sort of plan, but it felt extraordinary to her and she was incredibly pleased with the prospects. Maybe because she had him along for the ride now. Things just felt right for the first time she could presently remember.
Loki was in much the same state of rightness, though he would die before he admitted it. He watched the woman in front of him, listening to her explain her roommate situation and muse over plans she had, things they needed to do, and it was a mundane sort of existence compared to the future he'd repeatedly set out to gain for himself, but this was oddly so much more satisfying. Not the lifestyle, but just being there with her, specifically. No one else could have made this life appealing to him, he didn't think.
And despite his tumultuous attempts at rebellion and asserting his right to leadership time and time again in the recent past, Loki was more than content to let her lead on, and found himself genuinely happy for the first time in ages to have the privilege of stepping in someone’s shadow, so long as it was hers.
