#title: (feat. jimin)
Hi. In honor of Jewel, I’d like to request something with Seokjin and his d*ck resting on the counter lmao
pairing: best friend!seokjin x gn!reader
genre: friends/idiots to lovers, humor, fluff
word count: 1245 & 2 texts
rating: mature (because they're talking about the dick perch, there's no smut)
warnings: they talk about the dick perch, they're both kind of menaces, jimin makes a brief background appearance
a/n: this is the first request i got for @ugh-yoongi's birthday drabble event and i completely lost it. i also hope it's not just me that thinks this is funny. but it's okay if it is 😂 also i promise there is literally no angst, the title is just something they tease each other about
fun piece of jewel lore: we (i) tried to get this picture screen printed on a cake for a surprise bachelorette party for jewel. not only did the bakery not understand the assignment, but the cake wasn't even good. so, a definite fail, but the thought was there.
There’s a lot that you’ve just gotten used to during your friendship with Seokjin. That he’s always going to ask you to taste some new recipe he’s trying when you come over for dinner. That he’s always going to have the absolute best wine and turn his nose up when you show up with something cheap. That he uses the perfect meal to say the things he can’t. That he’s actually the best cook you’ve met without ever taking any classes. That you can’t interrupt him when he’s in the middle of playing a video game without getting a lecture or it actually being an emergency. That he doesn’t feel at home in large groups and, despite all his charm, he would rather be off to the side. Or, better yet, home in his pajamas. That, in some ways, he never fully grew up. That he’s always going to be there for you in his own way, even if he doesn’t have the words. That his laugh is always going to be one of your favorite sounds, even if it’s also completely obnoxious.
But, worst of all, you have to accept the fact that he is always going to be painfully hot no matter what. It didn’t really bother you the first time you met him. He was charming and dorky and had the worst sense of humor (that had you barely able to breathe from laughing). No, it wasn’t until a group of you had gone out drinking and you crashed at Seokjin’s apartment that you truly realized the unfairness of it all. You woke up feeling like death warmed over, make-up smudged with bags under your eyes and hair going in unnatural directions. Seokjin, by contrast, came walking into the kitchen bare-faced and still looking like he was photoshoot ready. Talk about irritating.
That’s not actually the worst of it, you realize, when you get a text from your best friend. He’s dying his hair, a feat you told him would be better left until you could get there to help him. But he’s also stubborn, sometimes, so he carries on anyway. The proof is in a picture that he sends to you showing him in the bathroom with gloves on and purple on his previously bleached blond hair. You’re considering if his hands have always been that big or if the gloves make them look bigger when you notice something else. Something else that looks...big. Something else you definitely should not be looking at.
He’s fucking with you. He absolutely has to be fucking with you. Because there is no way that he has his dick fully resting on the counter without noticing it. And there’s no way that it’s just a fold in his pants. There’s also no way you’re going to admit to your best friend that one of the first things you noticed was the outline of his dick resting on the counter. You’re pretty sure you don’t even want to think that word again. So, fine. If he wants to post that photo exactly as it is, who are you to stop him?
Ten minutes later you get the notification that he’s posted the picture to Instagram, which is much less time than it usually takes him to pick the right filter and the right caption. You only know because he turned your notifications on for him one day and acted affronted that you might turn them off. Even still, as your little way to regain some semblance of control in the friendship, you wait until you like it. It’s the small things.
However, when you do go to like it, you see a much higher number of likes than normal, along with several people commenting heart eyes or fire emojis under it. One comment sticks out, though, from yours and Seokjin’s friend, Jimin. All it says is: hyung, i’m not sure you thought this out before posting. You snort to yourself immediately because leave it to Jimin to just come out and say it. You can imagine the text conversation as you sit there. Can almost hear Jimin’s real laugh and Seokjin’s reaction. When your own phone rings, it startles you out of the thought.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME?” Seokjin nearly screeches before you finish saying hello.
“Hi to you too,” you respond.
“No, sorry, was that what you meant when you said I should crop it?” Seokjin carries on.
“I’m missing several pieces to whatever you’re trying to ask,” you answer even though you do know what he means. You’ve known Seokjin long enough to know that he texted Jimin and to guess at how that chat went.
“Please don’t act dumb, you already liked my photo,” he starts.
“Because you forbid me from turning off your notifications and missing out on, to quote you, your incredible hotness that’s a gift to us all,” you interject.
“And I know you must have seen the comments, so you saw Jimin,” Seokjin carries on like you hadn’t interrupted.
“Jimin says a lot of things,” you counter.
“Well I called him and he informed me that you can clearly see my dick outlined through my pants on the counter. And then when I said you suggested cropping the picture, he laughed for a full minute before telling me to call you and hanging up,” Seokjin explains.
You curse internally. Just like there’s a lot to get used to with your friendship with Seokjin, there’s even more to accept with your friendship with Jimin. He’s actually really grounded and reliable. The kind of person you can tell anything to. The only problem? He never forgets and makes damn sure you never do either. Case in point: your crush on your best friend.
“Well?” Seokjin prompts when you’re quiet for too long.
“Well what?” you ask.
“Were you looking at my dick in the picture? Is that why you suggested I crop it?” Seokjin continues on, unashamed.
“Ew, don’t say it like that,” you deflect.
“Say what like what?” he asks.
“You know, your…just don’t say it like that,” you stumble.
“You can’t even say it,” Seokjin barks out, obnoxious laugh making you pull the phone away from your ear.
“That wasn’t what I was looking at anyway,” you lie.
“You’re a terrible liar,” Seokjin says, but it’s soft in a way you’re not used to. “But hey, I actually wanted to try this new recipe if you wanted to come over for dinner.”
“Seokjin, are you asking me out?” There’s something about the softness in his voice that makes you bold. Makes you think maybe you’re not in this alone.
“What? No, of course not!” he nearly shouts, voice pitching up at the end.
“You can’t even say it,” you tease back.
Seokjin grumbles on the other end of the call. “Fine, you don’t have to.”
“I’d love to come have dinner with you, but only if you admit it’s a date,” you offer.
“It’s not a…actually, yes I’ll call it a date if…” Seokjin starts.
“Yes, Jin, I was looking at your dick,” you say quickly. “Okay, see you tonight for dinner!”
You hang up the phone before he can say anything else and have a moment of satisfaction imagining his face. It’s so easy to see the way he’d look at his phone, the way the blush on his ears would give him away. You think, for the first time in awhile, this might all be okay.

But its so crazy when you think about it tho
Ever since 2023 started and in only a couple of months, Jimin went from being:
01 ) "--the only BTS member yet to debut in Hot100" to not only having multiple entries, but also becoming "The First Korean Soloist to get a #01 spot" (with a KOREAN title track with no collab or features) and "2nd Asian SOLOIST to achieve this feat in 60+ years".
[And don't even come at me with no bullshit, 'cause despite being pushed off the first spot by Billboard making an impromptu (bullshit) change in the rules the following week, he STILL remained INSIDE the chart for 4-5 more weeks, where others plunged after the first week of debuting in it. So SUCK IT & let it go already.]
02 ) From being (ALLEGEDLY as said by antis) the "most inactive member" - to becoming GLOBAL Brand Ambassador for 2 luxury brands (Dior x Tiffany&Co), traveling constantly for multiple projects, activities, photoshoots, ect... while attracting the biggest crowds.
03 ) His name now credited at the end of TWO Hollywood movies for two songs: "Friends" (written and produced by Jimin, also appears on the MOTS7 album, was used for Marvels' Eternals) And now "Angel Pt. 1" (first western collab where he is featured along with 4 artists for the Fast & Furious saga).
04) His EP debut album, FACE, despite having the shortest promo time; 9 days (where others had months or weeks) and only 4-6 tracks (counting both the english ver of Like Crazy and the hidden track Letter) was not only the MOST anticipated solo album. It also broke MULTIPLE records WORLD WIDE (some of them had been held by PSY since 'Gangnam Style', which says a lot because this song came out when I was still in college LOL) and continues to do so just 1 and a half months after dropping (and it will continue to break more as we near JIMTOBER). His pre-release "Set Me Free Pt. 2" debuted at #30 on BBHot100 and the title track "Like Crazy" gifted him his first #01 on the chart as a soloist.
05 ) From being the LAST member to have a Spotify account - to becoming the fastest K-Pop soloist to reach 1 BILLION STREAMS on the platform (393 days).
And he achieved a great deal of it with little to NO support at all from his company...who were also responsible for most of the sabotage he endured.
Everything else was just him, his talent, good music and the Rock Solid Fans who adore him around the world.
WITH JIMIN TILL THE END.

La La Lost You (m) (teaser) | cyj
title: La La Lost You (m)
<< one-shot prequel to love u lately >>
pairing: choi yeonjun x f. reader
feat. bits of yoongi x f. reader, namjoon x f. reader, jimin x f. reader
rating/genre: m (18+) ; angst , fluff, smut ; fake dating au; post-high school au, lowkey tatbilb au
summary: choi yeonjun was simply just your academic rival, competing for honors at graduation during your senior year. however, when one of your (distant) friends' brothers is getting married, your 3 guy best friends all have dates to the event except you. in order not to feel like a loser, you decide to call up the only other tolerable male you know: Yeonjun, to be your fake date. what will happen when a childish fake date scheme actually ends up turning into your first real relationship lasting an entire summer. it may ultimately.. not end well
note: i KNOW i have yet to finish Love U Lately, but i wanted to present this prequel idea to you guys!! i know many of y'all may not be a txt moa, but this one shot will definitely add a lot more insight on previous events and character insight to other bts characters in LUL that don't get much of a spotlight
note 2: you do not have to read LUL to understand this fic. honestly might be better if you haven't read it! it will heavily focused on the mentioned previous relationship reader had with yeonjun before starting college and well as the perspectives of yoonminjoon and their attitudes towards it as they were still struggling with their romantic feelings for reader
warnings: language, sexual innuendo mentions, maybe some smut, underage drinking, yeonjun has a band, soobin appearance, jungkook has a small crush on reader, halsey shows up!, yoonminjoon being jealous and overprotective, typical things that happen in a summer romance, bonfire party, eventual breakup
smut warnings: tba
drop date: spring 2024
word count: 15k (projected)
"Look, Choi, I need you to-"
"Need me? Sounds kinda erotic." The taller boy chuckles, and your face scowls, turning a heavy shade of red.
"Huh? You're gross! As if I would EVER do anything trashy with you!" You cross your arms, feeling impatient. Jimin should be here any minute from his last class across campus so you can both go home together. This isn't gonna work, and you don't have any more time for this.
"You know what, never mind. I don't even know why I bothered to think of asking you. I should've asked Mark instead." You turn around, deciding to walk away from the situation. You'll take the L! You'll go to Seokjin's dumb brother's wedding by yourself like the loser you are while everyone else has dates.
"Hey, wait!" Yeonjun pulls your arm toward him, making you turn back around. "Alright. Fine, princess, I'm listening. What is it?" He looks at you, finally with sincerity in his eyes.
God, I guess if he actually wants to listen, then you'll say it. What could go wrong?
You tiptoe and lean in close to his ear, catching Yeonjun slightly off guard. "Okay. I need you to be my fake date to my friend's brother's wedding."
Yeonjun blinks repeated, processing the request. After realizing he was frozen, he immediately goes back to his usual expression and smirks. "Well, well, well. Looks like someone couldn't resist the charm of Choi Yeonjun after all."
You roll your eyes, "Hell no. Please, I'd rather dance with a cactus."
He raises an eyebrow, "You sure about that? Cacti can be quite prickly, you know."
You huff, "Just shut up and play along. I need you to act like a decent human being for one evening. You owe me anyways., remember?"
Yeonjun smirks again, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Decent human being? That's a stretch," he grins, clearly enjoying this. "But sure, why not? It's not every day someone gets to be in the presence of greatness."
You scoff, shaking your head, "Greatness? Please. Just don't embarrass me, okay?"
Yeonjun's grin widens, "No promises, sweetheart. But I'll do my best. After all, I owe you."
"Yeah, yeah. Just be ready to suffer through a night of pretending to like me," you retort with a wry smile.
"Oh, the sacrifices I make for you," he replies, sarcasm dripping from every word.
As you walk away, hoping to meet jimin halfway (where the hell is he?) you can't help but mutter under your breath, "This is gonna be a disaster."
Yeonjun's laughter follows you from a very short distance, "Oh, sweetheart, you have no idea."

March 28th at 12:13AM KST: JM🌟: "I miss you 😊"
March 28th at 03:42AM KST: JK replied: "Me too"
As the whole fandom was debating whether his reply meant "I miss army too", or "I miss you (JM) too", JK goes live 11 minutes later at 03:53AM KST, live titled: "수취타 (SuChwita)" where he says he came to watch Jimin's SuChwita episode and then he watches SMF2 MV, SMF2 dance practice, a LC challenge video, and a compilation of BTS teasing Jimin. He says he watched Jimin's Pixid interview and mentions having already watched the "Jimin's Playlist" video of FACE on BangtanTV when it came on shuffle after the SuChwita episode. He listens to some music by other artists, gets inspired to work, and after 1 hour, 36 minutes and 46 seconds of him basically giving Jimin heart eyes, he leaves us to go work on music.
The fandom is in complete shambles but at least now we know who was JK’s "Me too" comment directed to.
At 10:20AM KST on the same day, Jimin replies to Jungkook's comment with "Let's see each other soon. Your live is cute"
At 7PM on the same day, Jimin went live after he had finished his last music show performance, and JK showed up in his live chat spamming comments like "You know I'm hyung's (your) fan.", Jimin teases him about watching a bunch of his videos on live then tells him to prepare him his ramen recipe (that he had posted a few days prior) when he comes to visit, to which JK eagerly replies "Of course, of course. I'll do it for you". The live ends with JK having left a total of 19 comments, an unprecedented feat for him.
Reading the facts of that day as they are, it's undeniable that JK was missing Jimin like crazy (no pun intended) and he never does this when he's missing the other members, such as Seokjin who was already enlisted at the time, neither did he do the same for Hobi (at least not yet) after he enlisted either, despite him mentioning missing them in passing when the topics are brought up.
Jimin is special to Jungkook, whatever their bond may be, it's special and JK makes sure that everyone knows that. JK is a man of grand gestures for the ones he loves and he makes sure to show that Jimin isn't just another one of the hyungs to him, he's more than that. Whether you think they're dating or not, you can't deny that Jimin gets special treatment from JK in a lot of things (like how he used to only buy birthday gifts for Jimin and no other member, or how he made a whole GCF for him to celebrate his birthday, also something he hasn't done for any other member). And if that live was indicator on how JK acts when he misses Jimin, how he tries getting his attention by doing over-the-top actions, then I think it's pretty safe to assume they meet regularly now since he hasn't pined over Jimin in a minute. If he ever feels like he misses Jimin again, he'll make sure everyone knows it.
Hi anon!
What you are describing here is exactly the sort of thing that makes me believe there is nothing nor has there ever been anything romantic between Jk and Jimin. Because why… why if they’re partners would Jk not go see Jimin if he’s missing him? Jimin was busy sure, but does he not have to sleep? Is Jk not able to go with him, like other members have done? Why was it possible for Yoongi and Hobi to go see Jimin, but not Jk… if he misses him so? I hate to compare like this, because it seems cruel… but Tae has obviously been very busy the last few weeks, and yet.. he went to see Jk at Inkigayo.
What you described in your ask, was close friends missing each other. I will never deny that Jk and Jimin are close and they love each other very much. But they do not love each other the way partners do, because if that was the case Jk would’ve been content to just go see Jimin whenever there was a chance to. I once had a partner who traveled two hours to have lunch with me for an hour. That is what people in love do. Friends however will suddenly go ‘damn, I haven’t seen him in a while… I miss him’ especially when prompted by something (a weverse comment). Friends will then go on a whole supporting watching whatever they can together with army binge. But even when Jk realized he missed Jimin they did not meet and they did not meet for ramen after that and they did not meet for a while. Jimin asked Jk to come watch him practice more and Jk didn’t want to. So sure.. Jk had a surge of missing Jimin… but when real partners miss each other they do not go on social media about it.. they go see each other.
The GCF was not for Jimin’s birthday, don’t know where you got that from, the Tokyo trip wasn’t even for Jimin’s birthday probably. Jimin himself complained about Jk not buying birthday gifts.
There’s still nothing to base them meeting regularly on, except your assumptions. They could, sure.. but there’s just as much chance that they aren’t. Jk has been super busy, they did meet in NY.. which was part work probably.. but I’m also sure they really enjoyed their time together.. because I do agree that Jimin and Jk have a special bond, just not a romantic one.

swan princess au, that's all I know rn, check out the concept moodboard here
》》 eot: sinners & saints (one-shot) writing
Jin's one-shot eot spin off that was also part of valen-tans. Tells the story of how he met Coffee Girl

》》 Flying Shadows, Falling Stars (series) brainstorming
Something "Peter Pan" related, check out the concept moodboard here
》》 eot: a love like war (mini-series) planning
Jimin's eot spin-off, exes to lovers. It's actually a companion story to the main story: while that one follows that mc and Namjoon's relationship, this one will follow Jimin's perspective of the same events, as well as his relationships with a different mc (and Tae). I'm still up in the air on if I wanna wait until eot main is done or not before I start posting this one. Important things happen here that affect the main story, but happen off-screen there... Check out the concept moodboard here
》》 Question (one-shot) writing
Jimin's second valen-tan story. Celebrity (but not idol) au, club au, touch of angst but a happy ending.
TAEHYUNG:
》》 War of the Gods (series) planning
Fantasy adventure au, kinda like D&D sorta vibes; demigod!reader; found family tropes; "rage against the shitty authorities that created the horrible situations you're now stuck in". This story originally started out as a shitty fanfic to one of my favorite games when I was a kid, that then grew into its own tale as I grew up, that I'm now slapping a bts paint job onto. Check out the concept moodboard here
》》 If It's Worth It (one-shot) writing
Tae's second valen-tan story. Biker au, "opposites attract" theme.
JUNGKOOK:
》》 in this neighborhood, on these streets (itnots) (feat. Taehyung) (series) planning
Bullet fic, high school/college au (starts in high school, finishes in college), flashback story, coming of age story, teenagers making very teenager-y decisions, young adults learning how to adult, everything is based on taylor swift songs, title subject to change. Taehyung x reader is extremely prevalent throughout almost the entire story, but Jungkook x reader is endgame (will also feature Jimin x reader, Hobi x reader, and Jin x reader, but these are all side flings). See Jungkook's concept moodboard here, Tae's here, and the one for the full story here
》》 champagne confetti/champagne problems (two-parter) brainstorming
idk yet, part one is based around 3D (by jk) and part two is based around champagne problems (by t.swift)
》》 Mixing Fireworks & Gasoline (one-shot) writing
Jungkook's second valen-tan story. Biker au, angst, almost a toxic relationship
OTHER:
》》 eot: monsters (series) planning
I don't wanna say too much about this one bc I dont wanna spoil too much, I want it to be a surprise. It's a midquel to eot main, and you can check out the concept moodboard here
》》 deviltown (mini-series) 29% complete
a bts autumn "over the garden wall"-esque mini-series coming this october

The Bangtan Gal Chapter 8- Rookie King Episode 6
Chapter Summary: BTS jam to Karaoke. Jen tries to avoid the Skull Card again but finds herself in a spicy situation. Jungkook hasn't forgotten his revenge on Jennie for ruining his white shirts when they get back to the dorm after filming.
Words: 4,000+
-----
'We are curious about BTS' favorite songs! The 7 men and woman karaoke real show time!'
'Bangtan Karaoke'
Jennie sat on the couch with Jin, V and Rapmon. Suga, who was the MC for the day, grabbed a mic.
"To the people that's joining us in Bangtan Karaoke, welcome!" He announced while everyone applauded. "It's time for us to listen to a song with a special story. Everyone are you ready? You guys ready? You ready? Then please shout!"
"WOOOOOOHHHHH"
"Guys we will start off with the song no.18, Dynamic Duo's song by J-Hope." Suga announced.
'Her Man'
'Overcoming the disappointment from a relationship, coming back as a superb solo. J-Hope's favorite song full of meanings'
'Original singer: Dynamic Duo"
'Song title: Solo'
'Song from: J-Hope'
J-Hope (The song that I'll be singing is, Dynamic Duo's solo. In the past, I had a girlfriend that I liked a lot but she left me for another man. With a really upset heart, I rode the bus. That time I owned an MP3 player and played it. After turning it on, by accident, this song started playing. This song was one of my memories. And do, my favorite song is Dynamic Duo's solo.)
"Whoo!" J-Hope yelled on the mic. "Put your hands up!"
"Put your hands up!" Jimin repeated, putting up his hands with everyone else.
Jennie stands up with the rest of the guys and starts dancing around while J-Hope starts to rap the song. Overall, it was a great start to Karaoke.
"The next player is...Golden Maknae, Jungkook!" Suga announced and handed him the mic.
'The last practiced song'
'Right before debuting, Jungkook still with the title of a trainee, the last song he received a lesson for'
'Original singer: Primary (Feat. Zion.T/Gaeko)'
'Song title: See Through'
'Song by: Jungkook'
Jungkook (The song that I've prepared is Zion.T. See Through. Before debuting, I received one last lesson. The lesson that I received was on this song. If you look at Zion.T he has a way that he sings that's quite unique. I tried singing as he did, but I couldn't do it that well. It was a song where I was scolded a lot.)
Once Jungkook starts singing, Jennie and the rest of the guys nod their heads and start moving around in their seats.
'A hurtful memory'
'During a school festival, because of the missing MR, he lost the chance to sing it. A song filled with Rapmon's heartbreaking memory'
'Original singer: Supreme Team'
'Song title: School bell is ringing'
'Song by: Rap Monster'
Rapmon (I will be singing, school bell is ringing. Actually, during a school festival, this was a song I wanted to sing that time. With that, I practiced really hard for it. On the day of the festival, I didn't have the MR of the song and I couldn't perform on stage. And so today I would want to try and sing it today.)
For his performance, Rap Monster goofily raps the song, copying the rapper.
"Yo..." Jennie broke out in a grin. "Uh huh!? UH! UH! OKAY? OKAY?" She nodded her head at the beat, hyping Rap Monster even more with Suga rapping with him.
"LOUDER!" Suga sang while jumping up and down.
"What is going on!?" Jennie threw her head back, laughing out loud as Rap Monster started messing up, and the performance began to become a funny mess.
'The beat is wrong'
'I don't care anymore. Let's just dance'
'Audition memories'
'During the audition for the company, he sang it ambitiously. But the expressions around him was darkening. After that, so was the song'
'Original singer: 2AM'
'Song title: This Song'
'Song by: Jin'
Jin (I will be singing 2AM's this song. When I auditioned for the company, Big Hit, I sang this song. Seriously, their expressions weren't really impressed. I'm not sure how I'll do this time.)
Jin begins to sing, passionately while Jennie holds her hand over her heart, watching in awe.
"Ahh...so angelic..." She sighed in happiness.
With J-Hope's occasional YEAHs and Jungkook's oohs, Jennie couldn't help but snicker as she tried to cover her mouth to muffle the laughs. Jin ends up laughing thanks to Jungkook's background singing as J-Hope and V stand up to dance around.
J-Hope releases V and makes his way over to Jennie, grabbing her hand and making her stand up.
"When did I agree to this?" She ended up giggling when he spun her around and dipped her. They begin slow dancing around the room.
Jin (I sang it with the same emotions while auditioning but I'm worse now. That's why it was quite disappointing. I will work harder to be able to sing better next time.)
"All right, next up is Miss Bangtan! Let's give it up for Smartie!" Suga yelled on the mic as the guys whooped and hollered for her.
"Yeah! Let's go Jennie!" J-Hope yelled and clapped loudly with Jimin and Jungkook.
'Introduced To A Whole New Perspective of Korean Music'
'Listening to more variety of music in Korea, Jennie came across solo artist Ailee and immediately was hooked. Ailee's voice sparked Jennie's motivation to continue perfecting her singing skills'
'Original Singer: Ailee'
'Song title: U&I'
'Song by: Jennie'
Jennie (I have TONS of favorite songs. But recently, I started to listen to more Korean songs and fell in love with Ailee's music. It was so funny, I was just shuffling through random K-pop songs and all of a sudden I heard this strong voice and I was like, "SLAY ME!". I thought it was an English song by mistake but I was so wrong. Her voice is amazing and so gifted. I hope to sing as well as her one day. She's really great. I love how smoothly her voice moves with such powerful instruments like the trumpets. I love that style of music and I hope to sing songs like that, too in the future. Songs like this really wake up the crowd and get everyone moving. Her voice has so much soul and passion. I want my voice to touch people, too.)
"HHHHHHheeeeeyyyyyyy." She starts strong when the song comes on and the guys immediately start dancing while she shimmies to the left and right when the beat drops. "Hey, hey. Yeah, yeah yeah~. Ha! Cut the beat now! Wait a minute, wait a minute, mal jalla mianhande."
Jennie (Of course I don't sound anything like her and tried to make the song my own. I do want to sing this song again in a couple of years to see how much I improve. I want to watch the before and after to see if I made progress with my singing.)
'Bangtan's muscled cutie, Jimin!'
Jimin (The song I'll sing today is Taeyang's only look at me. A really long time ago, I had a one-sided love. When I look at her, my heart would st...hahaha. My face would go be as red as a tomato when we stood 5 meters apart. Just like a censor...those were my memories of it.)
Once the song comes on, Jimin starts dancing, with some quick footwork. Jen drops her jaw when Jungkook and Jimin sing together.
"Bring up one note, can I do it again?" Jimin asked as he stopped singing.
"I'M DONE!" Jennie shook her head, throwing her arms up in the air.
'My one and only chorus to sing to keeps getting missed'
"Stop! Stop! Be quiet, please." Jimin tried to remove the mic from Jungkook but he kept on singing.
'Stopping the song in a rush'
"Whoa! How did he get 82 points if he didn't sing even half of it?" Jen laughed, pointing at the screen.
'This is not supposed to happen'
Suga made Jimin sit down as he complained. "Is this really the end of it?" Jimin questioned in disbelief.
"Can you please sit down? You only have one chance." Suga ordered.
Jimin (They didn't give me a chance to sing it again. I really wanted to sing it. I wanted to voice out the feels I have inside me. The members wouldn't give me a chance to do so. *Sigh*)
'It's such a pity, maybe next time...(will there be a next time?)'
"The song that V has prepared?" Suga asked.
"I will be singing Lee Juck's rain." He answered.
'The raining day'
'A song with a painful memory. He listened to it during the rainy day he was trying to confess his one-sided love'
'Original singer:Lee Juck'
'Song title: Rain'
'Song by: V'
V (I've prepared a song from Lee Juck called Rain. I had a one-sided love with a girl in the past. I wanted to confess to her via a phone call. But it was raining that day, because of that, she didn't pick up the call. I was really sad... on my way home on the bus, this song suddenly played. That's one of my memories.)
Once V starts singing, Jennie waves her phone around, pretending it's a lighter, while the guys goof off in the background.
"SING IT!" She shouted. "SING IT, V! TELL US YOUR STORY! YEAH BOY! WOO!"
"How come you weren't this enthusiastic for me?" Jimin called out, feeling offended. "I thought we were best friends!"
"YAH! She's my best friend. Get your own!" Jungkook pointed at him.
"Hush, Jungkook!"
"Best friend or not, clearly she likes V more than the both of you." Suga bluntly replied while Jen let out a short chuckle. Before she knew it, she was joining the guys to chant 'Kim Taehyung' before he finished the song.
"To carry up this momentum, a fun and enjoyable song should be played next, right?" Suga asked
"Ddaengbul!"
'Karaoke's classic song'
'The song middle schooler Suga sang to heat up the mood'
'Original Singer: Kangjin'
'Song title: Ddaengbul'
'Song by: Suga'
Suga (The song I'm singing today, it's called Ddaengbul. In middle school when my friends and I went to a karaoke, we sang this song. Whenever we sang this song, it always boosts up the mood. I will be singing this song, since it reminds me of the fun I had when I sang it with my friends.)
'The enjoyment is felt from the start'
Everyone starts goofily dancing while Suga sings with random expressions as they all dance around. It felt great to let loose and just act wild and weird for a change. The song was a great choice to end karaoke.
Suga (I don't think it was just hectic. It's been a long time since we've been to a karaoke together. I really think we enjoyed it a lot. I think it's fine to say we lost our minds.)
"Bangtan Karaoke with Bangtan, it was really fun. I hope you go home safely. Let's see each other again, next time!" Suga wrapped up.
"See you again, next time! Yo wassup!" V yelled.
------
'Unlucky King/Queen'
Located in a gym, the 8 members of BTS gather around and flip their cards over to see who would be the King or Queen. When Rap Monster is crowned King, he sits in the middle while Jennie sits in between V and Jungkook.
'STAGE 1'
'Woongnyu's candy'
'Woongnyu who ate garlic to become a human!'
'A sweet garlic candy from Woongnyu'
"Starting from the 1st stage, things are quite...serious," Rapmon mentioned.
"Is this a joke?" J-Hope asked in a nervous voice.
"There's such thing as garlic candy?" Jennie questioned in disbelief.
"You wanna volunteer to try it?" Suga offered.
"Yeah, sure." She shrugged
"Really!?" V yelled in a happy voice, breaking out into a grin.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-Heck no!" She yelled back, making the guys giggle at her comment.
Once they flip their cards over, it's revealed to be Jimin who the skull card as a chorus of yeahs surround the room.
"Eeeeuuuaaaaaaa!" Jimin yelled out of frustration
'Punishment inherent Jimin. A forceful skull present to you'
"There's not even once where I'm not caught!" Jimin yelled in despair.
Once the candy is presented, the candy goes around as the members examine it.
"This is not garlic, it's lemon candy." Rap Monster observed.
"It does smell like it a bit." Jennie pointed out. Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad punishment after all.
When Jimin opens the candy, he takes a sniff and confirms that it smells like lemon candy and puts a piece in his mouth at ease.
'The devils are only waiting for him to chew the garlic'
All of a sudden, once he chews it, he starts to cringe. "The candy is quite hot." He confirmed.
J-Hope unfortunately gets a whiff of his bad breath and covers his mouth.
"Don't open your mouth, please." He laughed, while Jimin finished eating the rest of the candy.
Jimin starts coughing loudly and pulls himself together. "Thank you for giving me such delicious candy." He managed to say.
"Why are you crying, Jimin?" Jin asked
"Must be because the candy is so delicious," Suga replied.
'Chewed! Opened! Tasted! Bangtan Garlic Candy'
'STAGE 2'
'Sweep down the face'
'As much as you love the member, use your hands and sweep it down their faces'
Once they flip over the cards, it's revealed to be V with the skull card as Suga jumps up and yells "Finally! Finally! Finally!" while banging on the exercise ball behind him.
V lays on his back on the mat nervously.
"Since his name is V, I'll do it with a hand gesture, V." Suga announced but ended up catching him off guard when he ran all five of his fingers, roughly against V's face.
Jungkook goes next, running his hand quickly across his face. Once it was Jimin's turn, he evilly blew in V's face, making him sniff his foul breath. V squints up his face immediately.
'The vampire who ate a handful of garlic'
Jennie winces at the sight when Jimin slowly runs his hand against V's face. "Ahh his poor face."
V starts kicking around while the guys laugh at his pain. Then Jimin blows his garlic breath in his face one more time, making him sit up and roll away in discomfort.
'STAGE 3'
'I'm not really laughing on the inside'
'Making a smiling face with an audio frequency'
Once they flip over the cards, it's revealed to be Suga as he starts kicking and punching the workout ball in anger. When he is laid across the mat,
Once laid across the mat, connected to the equipment all over his face, Suga begins to tremble.
"Why are you trembling when it's not even turned on yet!" Jimin pointed out as Suga continued to tremble.
"Eeeeummm~" Suga mumbled in pain as he began to tremble for real once they turned it on.
"OMG! Yooo, he's shaking like crazy! Is he okay!?" Jennie covered her mouth.
"He'll be fine..." Rap Monster reassured before everyone continued laughing when Suga twitched and popped all over the place, getting electrified. "Stage 3 was boring." He declared after they unhooked Suga and his punishment was over.
"It wasn't fun at all." Jimin added.
"It looked painful, though!" Jennie said.
"IT WAS PAINFUL!" Suga shouted.
'STAGE 4'
'Firm biceps'
'Show off your real strength! Eat a jelly with a heavy fork'
"Firm biceps like these?" Jennie flexes her not so visual muscles.
"Very, very nice Jennie." Jimin pointed out. "But mine are better." He flexed his big muscles.
"Show off..." She muttered. Once she's older, she'll start working out more and compare muscles with Jimin.
Once they flip over the cards after Jimin trades the card with V, it's revealed to be V with the skull as they start acting hyped yet again. V bangs his fists on the mat while Jimin jumps up and down.
"I've made the right choice!" Jimin celebrated
When the jelly is presented, Jimin reveals the dumbbell that's connected to the fork.
"What kind of shenanigans is this!? HOW!?" Jennie said over the guys' laughter. "This is...very creative."
"It's a 10kg dumbbell! Eating a jelly with a dumbbell?" Rap Monster questioned.
This had to be the weirdest punishment ever.
"Jelly is even hard to eat with chopsticks!" J-Hope said
Once V grabs the dumbbell, he tries to pick up the jelly with the fork connected to the dumbbell but to no avail as Jennie starts giggling.
"Wait, why are you picking it like that?" Jin called out.
'In the end, frustrated Rapmon couldn't stand it'
"Look here, V. Bring it near to you and scoop it." He motioned
The guys and Jennie look on in frustration as they try to explain to V what to do but it doesn't get past him as he continues to struggle.
'V lost in his own world'
"You're joking right?" J-Hope lets out a short laugh.
'Finally the jelly touches the fork'
In the end, V finally picks up the jelly and takes a big bite.
"Finally!" Jen clapped over the guys' loud whoas and ohs.
'His expression darkens with the peculiar taste of the jelly'
"Do it like a man!" Jungkook motioned as V lifted it up and ate it. He ended up setting it down and bit into it while everyone laughed at his actions.
'The punishment totally differs from the production team's actual intention'
"He's crying." Jin laughed as V's eyes started to water.
'Suddenly thinking of his mom'
"Aw..." Jennie placed a hand on his cheek and wiped his tears. "The pain is only temporary, my friend."
'STAGE 5'
'Bangtan juice drinking'
'Every green veggies that are good for the body is in it. A healthy green juice for BTS'
"This juice could possibly be good, but the jelly just now, what was that!" V complained.
'Venting his anger from the inedible jelly from before'
"I'm curious, are you feeding us inedible things?" Suga laughed.
"I hope not!" Jennie called out.
Once they grab the cards, they flip them over to reveal Suga as he stands up and slams the card down.
"AWEEEE YEAHHHHH!" Jennie cheered. "Go Suga! Go Suga!"
"I can't help but think this is a scam." He declared. He lost count of how many times he's been caught.
"Suga, Suga, Suga, Suga~" Jennie and the rest of the members clap and sing.
"Isn't this a green tea latte?" Rap Monster asked as the beverage was presented.
Jimin sniffs it and says it looks edible. Once Suga takes a whiff of it, his face shows that something is really wrong. His face freezes as he takes a sip at the bitter taste.
"Suga is really good at holding it in." J-Hope pointed out. Once he reluctantly gulps two more times, he succeeds in the mission.
"He's a man! A true man!" Rapmon applauded.
Once Suga sets it down, Rap Monster goes to grab it but ends up spilling it.
"Wow!" Jennie said with a sigh.
'Rap Monster the master of destruction'
"As expected the king of destruction," The guys clap while Jin facepalmed
"Isn't this poison?!" Suga pointed to the mysterious liquid.
'The green marks are like radioactive pollutants'
"I'm sorry, everyone!" Rapmon grinned sheepishly
'STAGE 6'
'HOT! HOT! IT'S ON FIRE!'
'Eat a whole bowl of different peppers'
"3! 2! 1!" Rapmon announced as they all flipped their cards over.
"YEAHHHHHH!"
"NOOOOOOOO!" Jennie screamed, slamming her fists on the mat multiple times as she yelled in distress.
In the background, Suga, Jungkook, Jimin and J-Hope jump up and down, dancing all over the place.
"Jennie, Jennie, Jennie, Jennie~" They sing.
"The Bangtan Girl has been caught, yet again! Thank you!"
"I was waiting for this!"
"Finally!"
"WOOOO HOOOO!"
Raising her head up, she glared playfully at the guys celebrating her punishment. "This is not right! Of all punishments!"
"Are you ready, Jennie?" Jimin asked her with a sly grin once the bowl of peppers were presented to her.
Jennie observes the peppers and looks away. "...No..."
"Well too bad!" Jimin laughs evilly with Suga and J-Hope.
"You know...I really don't understand what I've done to deserve such punishments like this." She sighed as she picked up the first pepper.
It was a dark green Poblana pepper. She takes a bite of it and starts to chew. She could start her tongue starting to tingle from the spiciness but it was tolerable.
"Okay...we're making progress. Not bad. I can survive this." She swallowed it and picked up the next one. The Jalapeno pepper. It was dark green as she examined it.
"Eat it!" Jimin eagerly yelled.
"Don't rush me, man!" She pointed to him.
She places the whole thing in her mouth, and grimaces. Tears shimmered in her eyes as she threw her head back, trying to ignore the laughs from the guys. They were really enjoying this.
"I really can't stand you, all." She coughed a couple of times after swallowing. Her tongue was really burning now. It was really uncomfortable. Lastly, she tries to Habanero pepper. It was bright orange.
"I believe this is the hottest one." Jin declared.
"Is she going to eat it?" Suga anticipated.
Letting out a breath, Jennie pops the whole pepper in her mouth and starts chewing fast. The bitter, spicy taste evolved all around her mouth, making her yell out in discomfort. Standing up, she jumps up, fanning herself as she continues reluctantly chewing.
Tears began to stream down her colored skin as she dropped down to her knees, coughing. V rubs her back and tries to comfort her while everyone else continues to yell and cheer that she finally did it.
"Can I PLEASE have some water!?" She yelled. "I CAN'T GET ANY WATER!?" She shrieked and started coughing. "My GOD! WHY!? MOM~" She yelled in anguish as V wiped her tears with his thumb, returning the favor from his punishment.
'Miss Bangtan continues to suffer'
'STAGE 7'
'Tearful brushing'
'To make them a healthy idol, BTS's special brushing method'
"I'm ready to get this over with cause my tongue is numb, thanks to those friggin peppers." Jennie crossed her arms.
"Well, I just want to say that my tongue feels perfectly fine." Jimin teased with an eye smile.
"Hush Jimin!"
Once they flip the cards over, it's revealed to be Jimin with the skull card as he throws the card and starts walking away. Jennie holds onto Jungkook and laughs.
"Give us a statistic table! How many times have Jimin and I been caught." Suga requested
'The King of punishments has become a proper noun to Suga & Jimin'
"I'll do it like it's nothing, big!" Jimin reassured as he started brushing his teeth.
'1 minute is still far away but he freezes as soon as it entered his mouth'
'A fresh taste of wasabi toothpaste lingers in his mouth'
"Jimin's mouth smells bad?" Rapmon teased as he started blowing his breath at everyone once he was finished brushing.
"Ahhhh, put that away! It reeks!" Jennie covered her mouth. The foul stench is sickening and not a good mix.
'I'll blow you up with garlic + wasabi breath if you touch me'
'STAGE 8'
'Since you're at the gym, let's ride the treadmill?'
"Oh boy. Look like we're working out." Jennie assumed
Once they flip over the cards, it's finally revealed to be Jin for the last punishment.
"YAAAHHHHHHHHH"
'Pretty shoulders Jin is picked'
Suga picks up the exercise ball and celebrates while everyone else cheers around him. "Ah, why..." Jin complained
'The entrance of the exotic woman on the treadmill, what is her identity?'
Jin had a Chinese dress on while Jennie started laughing at him. "I really envy how nice his legs look," Jennie admitted while Jin started walking on the treadmill in the dress.
Once he starts jogging and trying to adjust the dress, Jen covers her mouth and falls to the ground, filled with laughter. "I can't!"
'I'm the Pink Princess Jin!'
------
After the show, Jungkook, Jen and Jin were back at the dorm while the rest were scattered. Either at the dance studio, getting food, or other errands. Jin was currently in the bathroom, taking a shower, while Jen made her way into the kitchen in her grey sweatpants and gray hoodie. Her hair was in a messy, curly bun on top of her head.
Taking out the tub of chocolate ice cream, she shuts the freezer door, to see Jungkook standing in the living room with a pillow in his hands. His eyes darted to her as he studied her every move.
"Uh...hey, buddy...what you got there?" She asked with a hint of nervousness.
"Oh, this?" The Golden Maknae glanced at the large, soft item in his hands "Just a pillow." He replied in an innocent tone.
"Ah...a pillow...for sleeping?" She questioned, uncertain of her fate.
"For hitting." His mouth curled into a smirk.
"Hitting...well I believe I-GOTTA JET!" She drops the tub of ice cream on the table and makes a run for it. Jungkook throws his pillow on the couch and dashes after her.
Running to her room, she tries to slam the door, but he catches it and manages to clasp his warm, strong hands with hers. She starts laughing as they both try to overpower each other.
"Leave me alone!" She begged.
"Nope!" He laughed and attempted to trip her down.
"No! No! Aye! Aye!" She finally dropped to the ground.
"Nowhere to go now." He grabbed her ankle and started to drag her back to the living room.
"Wait! Wait!" She desperately cried out, trying to grab onto anything as she dragged her hands on the carpet. "Please! What did I do!?"
"You think I didn't forget about you ruining my white shirts?"
"I said I was sorry!"
"They were my white shirts, you did it on purpose! You're not sorry!"
She manages to squirm out of his grip and tries to crawl away but groans when he smacks her back with the pillow. She turns around and tries to block her face while he continues attacking her with the pillow.
"That's it! Gimme that!" She grabbed a hold of the pillow and pulled him down to the floor.
Luckily she swipes the pillow from him and begins to whack him with his weapon while he tries to cover his face from the assault. As Jennie quickly gets up to her feet, Jungkook grabs a pillow from the couch and stands up. The two teens face off, with their hair disheveled as they stare each other down.
"This means war!" He yelled as they both attacked each other at the same time. The room was filled with laughter, the sound of the pillow attacks and occasional battle cries as the living room turned into a war zone.
"HIYA!" She smacked him right in the face with the pillow but gasped when he stood there frozen. "Oh crap, I'm so sorry, Kookie! Are you okay?" She walked up to him, reaching out to touch his cheek.
"Now I am." He quickly grabbed her before she had time to react.
"Jungkook!" She screamed when he picked her up over his shoulders. "Wait! Wait! Time out!"
"There are no timeouts when it comes to your punishment." He said with amusement and spun her around a couple of times.
Once she gets out of his grip, she manages to put him in a headlock and they stumble around until they end up bumping into a lamp. When they hear the loud sound of glass breaking, they release each other. Frozen still, they stare at each other, wide-eyed.
"WHAT DID YOU BREAK!?" The sudden booming sound of Jin's yell from the bathroom made the both of them scatter.
"Abort mission!" Jungkook yelled as they both ran to Jennie's room, with him quickly shutting the door. "Pretend we're sleep!" He quickly opened up the covers as she got in. He follows suit and they shuffle around before closing their eyes.
They were under the covers together with her head against his chest. She could feel his heart beating just as fast as hers. They really wanted to avoid Jin's lecture.
"WHO BROKE THE LAMP!?" Jin yelled while Jennie tried to muffle her laughs. Jin was really funny when he freaked out.
"Shh." Jungkook puts his index finger to his mouth, grinning in amusement, himself.
Barging into Jen's bedroom, Jin looked around, in his towel. "JEON JUNGKOOK! JENNIFER!" he grabbed the covers and pulled them away. "Wh-oh. They're sleeping. NAMJOON!" He turned around and walked into the living room. "I told you to leave the stuff alone! Why did you break the lamp!?"
"What the hell?! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! I JUST GOT IN THE DOOR!" Namjoon yelled back, confused.
Jen and Jungkook laughed at the situation they were in. They make a good team when it comes to stuff like this. Jen was looking forward to what was to come, next time.

on my shelf: soundtrack to MA year 3 - summer (a.k.a. the finale)
And so it comes to an end. I handed in my Master's thesis (topic: Emancipatory Potential of Girl Teen Film) about a week ago, so now I'm just waiting for it to be graded and also I have to find a job or something now... The thing I have been dreading most for like 10 years...
ANYWAY so I was super busy this summer with the thesis and going to a Japanese film festival for a class (I mostly saw very emotional movies (oops) and one very good comedy (Mondays: See You 'This' Week)), going to concerts (Red Velvet!!! Odd Eye Circle!!! Twice!!), going on vacation but still spending at least 3 hours every day working on my thesis, keeping up with the BTS members, seeing literally every BTS/TXT/IU concert or documentary they showed in cinemas, etc. etc.
So here we go into the final list of albums/songs that soundtracked my studies (it's been almost exactly 6 years since my first post in this series!!):
The Jazz Hop Café: (anything with "jazzy lofi" in the title)
So this one's not really an album, I know, but I wanted to mention this YouTube channel and their compilations of lofi songs because on many days, playing one of their videos was the only way I could get focused on the work I had to do. Using a video was also much more helpful to me than that famous lo-fi livestream because it helped me track how many hours I had been working. Truly a life-saver. And the music just sounds great too. They found some real gems!
Agust D: D-Day (2023)
What a perfect finale to the Agust D trilogy. While all three albums, Agust D (2016), D-2 (2020) and now this one, deal with anger and fear, there's a clear maturation in how these subjects and emotions are approached. On D-Day, Agust D is speaking to the world and breaking free - in openly and honestly sharing his struggles, his pain, he hopes others can feel comforted. The album literally begins with the line "Future's gonna be okay" ("D-Day"). The theme continues throughout the album, most prominent in "Amygdala" and "Snooze", a beautifully cinematic track featuring the late Ryuichi Sakamoto that is dedicated especially to everyone working publically in the music industry and struggling. He has been there, he knows what it's like and he is sincerely cheering you on. In the last years, Yoongi has emphasised again and again how much he wants to help out others and this album showcases this desire the clearest out of all of his albums. He's also pushing himself to try out a variety of new styles without losing his identity: "People Pt. 2 (feat. IU)", "SDL" and "Life Goes On" showcase his warm singing voice, while "Snooze" is the grandest he's gone musically, filled with strings, guitars, piano, and so much emotion. "Haegeum" takes a leaf out of "Daechwita" from D-2's book by incorporating a traditional Korean instrument in a novel way, while using the lyrics to speak of the hypocrisies plaguing society today. The music video for that one is like a movie, too. All in all, the album is hopeful while being emotionally heavy - and in that way, it allows a feeling of catharsis. How desperately I wish I could've gone to a concert on the tour...
fav: Life Goes On; People Pt. 2
Jimin: Face (2023)
So this was not at all what I would have expected from Jimin's first solo EP, considering the types of songs he had released before. Especially the first single, "Set Me Free, Pt. 2" came busting down the doors and demolishing all those preconceived expectations with it's assured declaration of wanting to break free from them. The other tracks are more intimate but just as interesting. The album opens with clown-like music before morphing into a very different sound and the opening line "All right, I guess the blame is on me" - brilliant. The album feels very visual to me because it's full of this kind of 'sound painting', like the clown music or "Interlude : Dive", which tells a whole story of Jimin reminiscing about the BTS concert days and the frustration and sadness of not being able to do that right now. Jimin has said he worked through his feelings from the most difficult times of the pandemic in these songs and you can feel that frustration all over these tracks. For example: Lead single "Like Crazy" really makes you feel like you're not fully sober, just trying to ignore all the bad feelings but struggling to do so. Jimin uses his already unique voice in a variety of new ways throughout the tracks. And added to that, there are quite a few interesting moments on all these songs - like the long-ish musical interlude after "Like Crazy"'s first chorus or the way the music stutters after the "Lie lie lie lie lie lie lie" line in "Alone". An added bonus, lovely moment is the hidden track on the physical album, which is more like what I'd have expected from Jimin, and is a beautiful guitar ballad for ARMY.
fav: Face-off
V: Layover (2023)
After years and years of V promising that his mixtape/album would come out soon, just for him to reveal that he's scrapped everything and started over, it's finally here and it's everything I could have ever hoped. One of the first BTS songs I heard that made me fall into the rabbit hole was his "Singularity". The R&B, more laid-back sound suits his vocal tone so perfectly, and that's exactly what runs through all of these new songs. One thing that stands out is how much room is given to the instrumentals: "Slow Dancing"'s second half is just a flute/piano solo with no vocals. It really boosts that laid-back, dreamy feeling that runs throughout the EP. Lyrically, all the songs are about missing someone and wanting them back, which V conveys very convincingly. The music emphasises this feeling in different ways - from the slightly off-key (?) moments in "Rainy Days", to the jazz and soul inspired free-ness of "Slow Dancing", to the key change via pitched-up vocals in "For Us". Generally the sound also fit in perfectly with all of that jazzy lofi I'd been listening to while writing, which made it feel instantly familiar and cozy. My favourite part of the promotions were all the live band sessions that really added so much to these songs.
fav: Rainy Days; Blue
Jung Kook: "Seven" (2023)
Song of the Summer!! I literally couldn't stop listening to this song all summer, seven days a week (ha). To be honest, I was shocked when I heard the lyrics the first time because Jung Kook just had a much more innocent (?) image, but actually this vibe suits him perfectly. He is such a quintessential pop star - vocals, dance, looks, charisma: he has it all in abundance. And on top of that, he lacks the cheesy insincerity or even low-key misogyny that I get from a lot of the pop boys historically. The lyrics to "Seven" are sexy, especially because of how loving they seem: "I kiss your waist and ease your mind"! "I must be favored to know ya"!! It's just so very Jung Kook. And I really enjoyed the remixes of the song, too, in a way I haven't enjoyed remixes since BTS' "Dynamite". Especially the "Island Remix" was fun for me, since I was on holiday on an island when it was released (Mallorca - the same island where V also shot some videos for his album this year!!).
Kep1er: LOVESTRUCK! (2023); Magic Hour (2023)
Both Kep1er EPs this year have had some of their best non-single tracks so far, with generally better line distribution among the members than their lead singles/title tracks. They have been leaning more into a groovy, light sound, and allowing more space for individual vocals and harmonies. By Magic Hour, it feels like they are starting to find a good niche for themselves, musically. "Galileo" is my favourite title track of theirs since "Up" (2022) and this might be the first time I truly like every song on an EP. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be their last album, since they're a project group with a limited contract which is supposed to be up after two years (meaning end of this year)... They're only just starting to find their feet as a group! What a strange system...
fav: Back To The City; Why; Galileo; The Door
Odd Eye Circle: <Version Up> (2023)
After the chaos on Loona island that started at the end of last year, all the members got out of their contract this year!! And then went on to several different new agencies. They do keep mentioning that Loona is not broken up, so there is still hope for an OT12 reunion at some point. For now, the first group to have released new music is the second Loona sub-unit Odd Eye Circle, who just so happens to be my favourite sub-unit. And they truly delivered once again. Maybe it helped that they're working with their original producer again, but they really do showcase an upgraded version of themselves on this new album. Every song is such an earworm, but not annoying in any way. And I really enjoy the little references to the Loona discography and first OEC EP - the introduction track often brings a little tear to my eye. I have barely listened to Loona in the past year because of the ongoing boycott and this EP filled that void a little. Plus the girls were AMAZING in concert, I literally cannot believe I saw them live in a tiny venue in Berlin and got to see all of their solo songs, duets, and of course OEC songs. And even "Hi High"!
fav: Je Ne Sais Quoi; Love Me Like
Loossemble: Loossemble (2023)
Speaking of Loona: The five members who went to a different label recently released their own EP under the name Loossemble, which stands for Loona Assemble (so cute). Even though this was literally only released two weeks ago, I've been listening to it constantly. First of all, we finally get to hear the five members who usually get the least amount of lines in OT12 songs - and they sound so good! I especially love all of the harmonies on the album. This EP also really still feels like a Loona (sub-unit) album, especially from the fan-favourite earlier days, not straying too far into unknown territory (yet?) but not boring in any way because they do get to showcase new things, like ViVi's lower register on "Sensitive". I also find it very cool that all of the members have at least one writing/composing credit on the EP, which is something they've never gotten to do before but are really good at! And "Strawberry Soda" was even written for them by fellow Loona (but not Loossemble) member Yves! They're really still carrying the OT12 agenda. Fingers crossed Loossemble also decides to tour in Europe at some point!
fav: Strawberry Soda; Sensitive
NewJeans: Get Up (2023)
It's really amazing how NewJeans keep upping their game with every release. This EP is more summery again, but again in a way that's very atypical for K-Pop, drawing on various styles of dance music as well as R&B. It's varied and fun and has quite a few interesting elements, such as the unusual sparse sound of "ASAP" and the horns in "ETA".
fav: Super Shy; Get Up
BTS: "Take Two" (2023)
Of course they recorded a song to be released around their 10-year anniversary when they weren't all able to celebrate together. Of course they did. And of course it's such a warm, embracing hug of a song. 2025 can't come soon enough.
And here are some more albums I enjoyed:
Colde: Love Part 2 (2023)
Twice: Ready To Be (2023)
Fifty Fifty: The Fifty (2022)
Fall Out Boy: So Much (for) Stardust (2023)
j-hope: Jack In The Box (HOPE Edition) (2023)
STAYC: Teenfresh (2023)
Le Sserafim: Unforgiven (2023)
Viviz: VarioUS (2023)
Itzy: Cheshire (2022)
the BTS discography remains on repeat as well, of course
---------------------------------------------
A final note: I'm really proud of myself for keeping this series going all this time. I already sometimes look back on older posts and it's so interesting to see how my taste in music and my way of writing changed through the years. Sometimes the music you listened to at a certain time in your life will always remain connected to that time for you but sometimes that connection weakens. So having these posts to look back on is like having all these little time capsules, which is nice. I don't know if I'll keep doing something similar now that I'm out of school, but it could be nice... We'll see what happens next (I have 0 plans for my future :D)!

D-DAY — Agust D: A review
Published Friday, April 21st, 2023 — Perhaps one of the most conspicuous representations of alternate personas amongst the seven members, Agust D is Min Yoongi’s very own creation that grew into an icon of his own scale. First born in 2016 as a way for the then 23-year-old rapper to channel his anger and say the things he couldn’t say as SUGA of BTS, Agust D’s music resonates deeply with people—and, perhaps, resonates with the artist himself in ways he didn’t anticipate.
The Road to D-DAY
No one was really surprised when D-DAY was announced. With SUGA’s entire solo world tour completely sold out, ARMYs had been expecting new music to help fill up the setlist; and with j-hope, Jin, RM, and Jimin having already released their own solo works, the odds of guessing the next member correctly were high.
Prior to the official announcement, on March 30th, Big Hit Music released the mood teaser for SUGA: Road to D-DAY, a documentary detailing the artist’s travels spanning Korea, Japan, and the U.S. as he searched for inspiration. The teaser poster was then released on April 5th and the official trailer was released on April 6th. The trailer touched on key topics and themes that would make up the foundation of SUGA’s story as he traveled alone for the first time, including that of being in his thirties, wounds and scars, acceptance, liberation, people, dreams, and current. “The day I’m free from all the negative thoughts, I’ll set it as D-DAY and start all over again,” he says around the 37-second mark, clueing fans in to the meaning behind the anticipated album. The trailer also showed an aspect of his personal character that ARMYs especially love, which is his way with words—his ability to always say the right thing at the right time, even when what he is saying is as much for him as it is for others. The documentary’s main poster was revealed on April 11th and the rapper also did a series of promotions for the documentary with Disney+ Korea, releasing a greeting on April 5th and interviews on April 7th, April 9th, April 10th, April 16th, April 18th, and April 21st. Disney+ then released a second official trailer on April 21st. The second such documentary following j-hope’s IN THE BOX in February, Road to D-DAY premiered today on Weverse and Disney+.
“The day I’m free from all the negative thoughts, I’ll set it as D-DAY and start all over again.” — SUGA, Road to D-DAY documentary
At the time of the documentary’s announcement, ARMYs suspected that D-DAY would be the new album’s title; and once the album was announced, the timing of content releases were perfectly coordinated, maximizing the campaign’s impact on an audience that was already hungry for new Agust D music.
The album itself was also widely promoted, with Big Hit Music first dropping the announcement on April 2nd, followed by a poster for the pre-release single “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2) (feat. IU)” on April 4th. The D-DAY promotion schedule was then released on April 8th, the track list was released on April 9th, a special D-DAY Glitch Film released on April 13th, a live clip of “사람 (People)” on April 14th, and concept photos that were released on April 16th and 17th. The Glitch Film in particular proved to be particularly insightful. A series of visuals over which SUGA himself narrated, the film included snippets of previous Agust D music videos woven in among other intentional imagery before ending with a stylized D-DAY; and the narration explores what has always been one of the most significant themes at the heart of his—and BTS’s—music: standing up for what you believe in even when the rest of the world looks down on you for being different and embracing those differences that then in turn become your biggest strengths. SUGA himself is no stranger to hardship, as many are familiar with his story about how he came to join Big Hit Music (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) after growing up poor in Daegu and wanting to pursue making music; and it has always been obvious that he defies the general public’s perception of KPOP idols, having always been quick with a sharp clapback aimed at those who would dare look down on him. Based on the promise from now HYBE Corporation chairman Bang Si-hyuk that he wouldn’t have to dance if he joined BTS, his thirteen-year career with the company illustrates the significant growth and change in his abilities and his overall character and demeanor—but even after all this time, he still chooses to celebrate the things that make him different and that is perhaps what makes his music so accessible to so many people.
“Small flaws, glitches, my new alterimage. Breaking down the wall between ‘what I want to say’ and ‘what I cannot say’. Not getting intimidated but rebelling and raising questions against what the world demands. The world’s fixed stereotype collides with my inner self and leaves trauma for a while, but this temporary glitch transforms into the driving force to create a new wavelength and becomes part of me.” — SUGA, D-DAY Glitch Film
“사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2) (feat. IU)” & IU’s Palette
Having previously worked together on the singer-songwriter’s dreamy pop track, “eight”, SUGA reached out to the nation’s beloved daughter, IU, to feature on “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″, a song that he had written three years ago and a follow-up to the fan favorite “사람 (People)” off of his previous release, D-2. In fact, while appearing as a special guest on IU’s show, IU’s Palette, SUGA revealed that he had considered both fellow BTS member Jungkook and IU for the feature and ended up choosing the latter. The pair performed it together on the show, but based on a 60-second live clip of the song taken from the Road to D-DAY documentary, it’s not the only performance of “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″ that we can expect.
Although he would be hard-pressed to define the genre of the song, SUGA described “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″ as a song that he loves very much and had been saving for quite some time. IU’s parts were written in English so that fans would be able to easily sing along when performed for SUGA’s upcoming tour; and while the melody is easy on the ears and the vibe is gentle, the lyrics paint a picture of a person who craves relationships with others but being unable to pursue deeper connections due to fear and lingering hurt from the past. If “People” raises the questions "So what if people choose to live their lives in such ways? Who are we to judge them?”, then “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″, while not providing the answers, raises the question “What is love in relation to people?”—or, more specifically, “What is love in relation to the presence (or absence) of people?” But then again, perhaps the answer to that question lies at the end of the song in what is arguably the most striking lyric of all: “당신은 사랑받기에도 이미 충분한데”, which translates to “You’re already more than enough to be loved”. Based on one possible interpretation, the big takeaway of “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″ is that while you are influenced and changed by the relationships you form with others, those people don’t get to decide whether you deserve to be loved—you just do.
To set up an easy transition into their performance of “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″ towards the end of the episode, SUGA performed “사람 (People)”, prefacing it with an anecdote regarding how after not listening to his own music once it’s been released, the algorithm recently brought it up and he listened to it not as his own song but as someone else’s song. The comfort that fans had said that “사람 (People)” had brought them, which he had been unable to identify with at the time of release, finally resonated with him during a time of pain, and he confessed to crying a great deal. The experience led him to choosing the title “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″ for the beats that he had written in 2020, as “사람 (People)” had become a very special song to him and now he has come to cherish “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″ a lot as well.
Over the course of SUGA’s Palette episode, the two discussed what it was like to collaborate once again, the history of their relationship, and what the release of D-DAY might mean for Agust D as one of his alter egos (in addition to Gloss, SUGA, prod. by SUGA, and Min Yoongi).
“At first, I was so fed up back then,” the rapper told IU. “‘Why would people look down on me? Because I’m an idol?’ Normally as an idol, there are a lot of things I can’t say out loud. I needed a means to let my feelings out.” He also admitted to feeling like he couldn’t synchronize himself with Agust D anymore, which can be interpreted in one way as saying that he doesn’t feel the way he felt when he first created the character of Agust D. “Once Agust D’s trilogy comes to an end, it might be hard to see him again,” he added. His use of the word “might” makes it seem like he is still, for whatever reason, unwilling to completely let go of the character he created—but what is clear is that not even he knows for certain what the future will hold for Agust D.
“It takes a lot of guts to let go of something. I’m not courageous enough.” — SUGA, Road to D-DAY documentary
The fellow ‘93 liners also talked about D-DAY and what fans could expect in terms of the overall tone and theme of the album, as well as about specific songs, with it being established that IU had already listened to it prior to SUGA appearing on the show. They then rounded out the show with some conversation about how SUGA felt things had changed for him in the last ten years since debuting with BTS, followed by some light-hearted talk about his various hair colors throughout that time period, his ability to make predictions that come true, and how he believes the album will be received by the general public.
D-DAY: The End of an Era
If you ask anyone who is a devoted fan of SUGA, one of the things they would say that they admire about him is his upfront nature, his ability to talk about the things most people want to forget exist—and his ability to be so incredibly vulnerable. His own individual journey to the top has been difficult in ways that run parallel to the hardships BTS faced within the KPOP industry, but like his fellow members, it has always been crucial to him that his music revolves around the heavy topics that affect people universally in order to create the space for empathy, community, and positive change—and making that kind of music requires a level of honesty that few people are willing to provide.
It has always been clear that SUGA has only ever wanted to make music since he was young—but that doesn’t mean that his love for the artform has always kept him in an optimistic headspace.
“I think of quitting music more than a hundred times a day,” the award-winning producer and rapper admitted in his documentary. “But when everyone comes together like this, I can do it because it makes me feel that making music is fun.”
The fifth member of BTS to release solo music during the group’s self-dubbed second chapter, SUGA returned as Agust D one last time to deliver the conclusion to his trilogy of releases, Agust D (2016), D-2 (2020), and now, D-DAY.
Having said on IU’s Palette that he finds himself getting less and less angry the older he gets, SUGA is at a point in his life where he maybe doesn’t need to rely on his Agust D persona to express his feelings. People have told him that he has mellowed out and it certainly seems to be reflected in the way he’s been carrying himself lately—and, naturally, in his music. Of course, D-DAY still has a little bit of that classic Agust D fighting spirit; and the first few tracks of the album are in line with what fans have come to expect from an Agust D song—with some softer melodies following close behind to demonstrate the shift in his personality and demeanor from his pre-debut years to the present.
“해금 (Haegeum)”
The title track, “해금 (Haegeum)”, is reminiscent of “대취타 (Daechwita)” in its use of traditional Korean instruments, as the two were written around the same time. In fact, the haegeum is itself a traditional Korean instrument but the word also refers to the forbidden—more specifically, forbidden things no longer being forbidden and thus experiencing freedom from holding yourself back from things that you told yourself you weren’t allowed to do, have, or be. “We have to free ourselves first,” SUGA said when talking about the song. “I feel that my life is restricted.”
The music video was preceded by an official teaser released on April 19th, which quickly established a similar setting and soundscape to “대취타 (Daechwita)”. There are also certainly loose threads from the universe of the previous album’s title track music video that connect the two. Looking back at “대취타 (Daechwita)”, there were two different versions of Agust D, so to speak—a mad king with long blond hair and a scar running from the top of his face, through an eyebrow, to his cheek; and a man with black hair, who was later captured and brought before the mad king, where the latter shot the former with a pistol that was given to him by a palace guard. In “해금 (Haegeum)”, there are again two versions of Agust D; and while both have black hair, one has the infamous scar on his face and the other one doesn’t. Based on visuals alone, there are many guesses to be had in regards to the story that has been unfolding since “Agust D” in 2016. It is possible that the mad king survived and started a new life as a police offer, going after the Agust D who attacked multiple people and then stole a very large amount of money—and it is possible that the Agust D who committed those crimes is the same Agust D who shot the mad king in “대취타 (Daechwita)”; and the mad king decided that the easiest way to get revenge would be to become a police officer.
Lyrically, while paired with an almost aggressively driving tempo and the instrumentals of the haegeum, if “대취타 (Daechwita)” was more of a means to call people out, “해금 (Haegeum)” is more of an anthem. The chorus is repeated twice more after its first time as an introduction to the song, emphasizing the importance of what the song is meant to be interpreted as: “This song’s a haegeum./Get on board now./This lively rhythm/Perhaps, this could be a new kind of haegum”. The track goes on to distinguish between freedom and self-indulgence, as freedom of expression or speech can sometimes put people in dangerous situations; and they are often not equal from person to person. Moreover, it also criticizes society in the way that information is introduced, interpreted, and censored, saying that “Endless influx of information prohibits freedom of imagination and seeks conformity of thought.” At the heart of it all, maybe what Agust D seeks is the truth as to what is really holding him or anyone else in the world back, as those in power seek to control the masses by overwhelming them with so much information and stimuli so that they remain confused and unable to determine who are the ones truly responsible for holding their freedoms hostage. But he also admits that we may also have a part to play in forging our own shackles.
“Maybe we do it to ourselves. Slaves to capitalism, slaves to money, slaves to hatred and prejudice, slaves to YouTube, slaves to flexin’. Selfishness and greed have gone off the rails.” — “해금 (Haegeum)”
In the end, even though the police officer manages to apprehend him, Agust D once again manages to shoot the scarred figure—and maybe he is dead for good this time. The young man, free from capture and from his past that continued to chase him, goes back to the noodle shop from the beginning of the video for a warm meal.
Unpacking D-DAY
While SUGA said that the album would be easy listening after the first three or four songs, the difference in mood and/or tempo doesn’t necessarily have a clear divide. It is true, however, that much of that notorious Agust D anger is contained in the first three songs, with Spotify granting two out of three an Explicit rating. The first track, titled “D-Day” after the album itself, signifies a day of rebirth—a day when the past version of one’s self is dead and only the present version exists. Both thematically and sonically, “D-Day” is both an introduction and a smooth transition into “해금 (Haegeum)” with lyrics such as “I’d die for real ‘til the D-Day” and “D-Day’s coming from forbidden things./As soon as you’re released, open your new chapter”. However, anger is not the only prevalent emotion underlying the song; rather, it is infused with a kind of aggressive optimism that is punctuated by the few swear words throughout. At the end, we are left with a sense of hope that something beautiful can still come out of all the ruin in the world, as SUGA raps, “Lotus flowers bloom again in a world covered with hatred”. The chorus, repeated often, is entirely an English, aligning with SUGA’s wish to have more songs that ARMYs can sing along to while attending his upcoming concerts.
Following “해금 (Haegeum)” is “HUH?!”, SUGA’s collaboration with fellow BTS member and rapper, j-hope. The song contains a familiar cockiness and swagger that ARMYs have long since come to associate with SUGA, calling out his success (i.e. his visit to the White House with the other members in May of last year) and his haters for talking negatively about him online while feigning innocence. At the end of his first verse, he even goes as far to say, “I pray that even you’ll do well”. j-hope’s verse provides a nice contrast for the ears thanks to the difference in vocal tones between the two rappers as well as the difference in rhythm and syncopation. His words are less aggressive, though no less confident; and the lyrics “My step is deep/So my comeback is easy” demonstrate a self-assuredness for the future regardless of what people may think or say.
“Honestly, back then, I was only full of anger. ‘I am going to succeed and take revenge!’ ‘I’m going to beat that group, this group!’ [...] Haters... haters will always be there. If I mention this, someone always says something about this. [...] These days, I am at peace. I think I’m becoming grown up.” — SUGA, IU’s Palette
After “HUH?!”, the album shifts emotionally and sonically, starting with “AMYGDALA”. Sitting in the coveted spot as SUGA’s most cherished song on the album, IU described “AMYGDALA” as “very honest” and “autobiographical”, as it contains personal stories going all the way back to the rapper’s childhood. The amygdala refers to the area of the brain that is mainly responsible for processing emotions and memory, especially those associated with trauma and fear. Originally intended for BTS, the song delves into what makes up the Min Yoongi who exists today as he discusses his mother’s heart surgery, his own accident which resulted in the shoulder injury for which he later got surgery in November 2020, and his father’s liver cancer. In the lyrics, you can see the ways in which he responds to these events, such as his claiming that he doesn’t remember certain information or the repeated lyrics “Let’s take them all out one by one”, “Let’s put it in one by one/Yes, one, two, yes, one two”, “Now, let’s erase them one by one, yes one by one”, and “My amygdala (my amygdala)/Come on, save me, come on, save me”. On a musical level, “AMYGDALA” walks a fine line between intense desperation and putting on a hardened mask. While it possesses none of the anger and aggression of the first three tracks, the slightly up-tempo beat drives it forward, keeping it just ahead of melancholy. “Bad experiences and negative emotions... Amygdala is how I process these stimuli,” SUGA says in his documentary. However, at the end of the second verse, he brings back the symbolism of the lotus flower, saying, “The never-ending trials weren’t able to kill me. And I bloom a lotus flower again”, referring to his own resilience and his ability to persevere in the face of his own hardships.
The album heads in a different direction after that. “SDL”, likely standing for “Somebody Does Love” as said in the chorus, provides an easy segue into “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)″, as it talks about the complexities of relationships and the unfortunate drifting apart as a result of differences too great to reconcile, but is is also reminiscent of SUGA’s solo song, “Trivia 轉 : Seesaw” off of BTS’s Love Yourself 結: Answer (2018). While the instrumentals, the chorus, and especially the tone of the backing vocals give the impression that it is more like an affectionate love song, “SDL” is in reality more about a failed relationship than a successful one; and while there may be some leftover affection, the million-dollar question is whether he really misses the person or the memories. It may be the closest to a love song in musical style that we will ever get from him, as he claims they’re not really what he tends to write, though, and the overall vibes make for comfortable, easy listening.
The album then shifts again in sound with “극야 (Polar Night)”, a powerful yet understated track delivered with a steady rhythm and reiterations of topics brought up in “해금 (Haegeum)”, such as hypocrisy, the manipulation of information, truth and lies, and the uncertainty of not knowing whether one is believing in the right thing, doing the right thing. After all, a polar night is something that only occurs in the northernmost and southernmost regions of the planet—where night lasts for more than 24 hours.
“Interlude : Dawn” helps set the tone for “Snooze”. Laden with an almost piercing sadness, the different instruments introduce and re-introduce that sadness, playing upon the same theme until the song’s completion. While there are no lyrics, the emotion is closely felt, putting the listener in the necessary headspace for the next track.
Featuring the late Ryuichi Sakamoto and Kim Woosung of the Korean rock band The Rose, “Snooze” is SUGA’s message to his friends whose dreams began after seeing how far he and BTS have come. Knowing that the KPOP industry is a competitive one and that there are those who are always seeking to hurt others in order to get ahead, SUGA raps, “It may be very difficult, this road I’ve walked on. It may have looked like a flower road, but enemies everywhere. Know that it was a thorny road before you start. I hope you never forget the one who scatters flowers on the road”. Presenting both the pros and cons of pursuing such a dream, “Snooze” represents SUGA’s desire for others such as his juniors or friends to come to him for help; and even as he warns them about how difficult the road ahead will be, he also says, “but the end may be great”. Towards the end, SUGA weaves in lyrics from “So far away” off of Agust D, another track for which there is a very special and deeply personal place in ARMYs’ hearts. In “So far away”, he talks about not having a dream and the resulting loneliness and other negative emotions that accompany having that particular item unfulfilled. However, in “Snooze”, he has moved on from not having a dream and instead wants to focus on helping others achieve their dreams, which, in some ways, one could interpret as being his new dream. The lyrics taken from “So far away” are “Dream/I will be there for your creation 'til the end of your life/Dream/Be generous, wherever you might be/Dream/You will fully bloom after all the hardships”—but he changes the last line. Compared to “Dream/Your beginnings will seem humble/So prosperous will your future be”, in “Snooze”, the last lines of the borrowed lyrics are “Dream/The beginning may be weak, but the end may be great”. Two different ways of saying the same thing but a nice, little Easter egg with a twist nevertheless. And while it is clear that the lyrics come from his own personal experiences as an idol, the message of “Snooze” is not only intended for those friends in the entertainment industry but also for those in their twenties and thirties who are struggling as a result of the current situation of the world. Where “even dreaming a dream is too much”, SUGA hopes to provide some comfort with this song.
ARMYs around the world remember a time before and after BTS’s “Life Goes On” when BE (2020) was released. Paired with a music video that tugged none too gently on the heartstrings and caused the well of emotions to overflow, it displayed an honest vulnerability and empathy and expressed an optimism for a future where even though many things had changed, some things—like the mutual love and respect between BTS and ARMY—would always stay the same. SUGA’s own kind of homage to his group’s creation, “Life Goes On” borrows some of the original melody and general message, especially in the introduction and first verse. “I will borrow this music and give it to you. People say the world has changed. Fortunately, our relationship hasn’t changed yet,” he raps, similarly to his verse in the original song, where he says, “Let me tell you with this song. People say the world has changed. But thankfully between you and me, nothing's changed”. In his IU’s Palette appearance, SUGA mentioned that he was unsure if people would listen to D-DAY in its entirety or even like it. By releasing his own version of “Life Goes On”, SUGA is expressing his own vulnerability in regards to his relationship with his fans and the desire to be reunited; and even as life goes on, he hopes that they will continue to look to him for comfort as they did before.
Conclusion
When viewing all of the Agust D releases as a whole and complete story and reviewing what SUGA himself has said about the character he created, the message truly comes together with a certain kind of clarity. There was a time when the rapper was always angry and he used Agust D as a vessel for that emotion. At the time of D-2′s release, which is when he wrote some of the songs for D-DAY, all the anger he had felt had not yet dissipated and he found that he still had some lingering frustration and rage, even after expressing it. Now, by releasing “해금 (Haegeum)” and D-DAY, he is able to let go of that version of himself who was only angry. In a live stream following D-2′s release, SUGA admitted that there is another name for black-haired Agust D; and I think it is safe to assume that black-haired Agust D is really SUGA—or even Min Yoongi—and that the scarred version was the angry person he had become in his earlier years as an idol. He had tried to kill him but he only came back again to hunt him down, as the past is often prone to doing. Having finally killed off that version of himself, he can leave the past behind and move forward towards a happier, brighter future.
“I don’t know if I’m fully grown up yet but if I’m going to be, I want to be a good one.” — SUGA, IU’s Palette
As much as I live for the quintessential Agust D songs, my favorite tracks on D-DAY are “SDL,” “사람 Pt.2 (People Pt.2)” and “Snooze”, especially since some of my favorite songs from SUGA as an artist are “So far away” and “사람 (People)”. Coming from a less objective and more personal perspective as a SUGA-biased ARMY, watching him go through this journey was both gratifying and encouraging. Seeing him come so far fills me with pride and I hope that during his upcoming tour, he can really feel how much he is loved by his fans and how much he has done for them by way of his music.
Genius Lab USA Rating: Perhaps this could be a new kind of haegeum.

Notes:
*All dates referred to in this review are in accordance with Pacific Standard Time (PST) unless otherwise specified.
** I’ve chosen to refer to Yoongi as SUGA in this piece for ease of reading and consistency unless I am specifically referring to Agust D as the character that he created.

Jimin Achieves 'Gold Single' Certification in Canada for 'Like Crazy,' First Solo Korean Song in 10 Years
Jimin continues to showcase his formidable solo power in Canada, shining with global popularity.
Jimin's song 'Like Crazy' has received the 'Gold Single' certification from Music Canada (formerly known as the Canadian Recording Industry Association, CRIA), making it the first Korean solo song in the past 10 years to achieve this recognition after the organization's certification revamp.
Music Canada represents non-profit organizations in the music recording, manufacturing, and distribution industry in Canada. They classify albums based on digital and physical sales, as well as the equivalent scores (TEA), assigning grades such as gold, platinum, multi-platinum, and diamond.
'Like Crazy' recorded sales of over 40,000 units in Canada, earning it the Gold Single certification for a Korean solo song, an impressive achievement that crosses the boundaries and barriers of non-English music.
Previously, Jimin's album 'FACE' reached 10th place on the Canadian album chart, marking the first time a Korean solo album entered the top 10 in the past decade. The title track 'Like Crazy' debuted at 21st on the Billboard Canada Hot 100 and continued to chart for 4 consecutive weeks, predicting the remarkable feat of Gold certification.
Furthermore, along with 'Set Me Free Pt2,' Jimin achieved the feat of having two songs by a K-pop male artist chart simultaneously. He also set a record for the most charted songs by a Korean solo artist this year, with a total of 9 entries from 4 songs, including Hollywood blockbuster 'Fast & Furious 10' OST 'Angel Pt.1' and the collaboration track 'Vibe' with Taeyang.
In addition, Jimin's powerful solo influence was evident in 'Digital Song Sales,' where he charted a total of 10 songs, including all tracks from 'FACE' ('Like Crazy,' 'Set Me Free Pt2,' 'Face Off,' 'Alone,' 'Interlude: Dive') as well as 'Vibe,' 'With You,' 'Promise,' 'Christmas Love,' and 'Angel Pt.1.'
In 2020, Jimin's exceptional popularity was highlighted when his solo song 'Filter' from BTS's 4th full album entered the Billboard Canada Hot 100 at 88th place. His solo albums have been met with explosive reactions and love from fans around the world, including Canada, proving the power of heartfelt music.
Congratulations #JIMIN

wip game
rules: “post the names of all the files in your WIP folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! And then tag as many people as you have wips. (You can make your own post or reblog this one!) I have deemed that this isn’t just for writing either. Sketch titles? Comics? DND campaigns? If you have an unfinished project, it counts!!”
