I think transformers should lean more into the uncanny aspects, especially with their alt modes. As a treat. Like, at a first glance everything looks normal, but there are little things that only mechanics and car nerds pick up on, details that don't line up with the model, and even though it's turned off, something about it feels alive, and there's this lingering feeling that it's watching those who come near.

I have a phobia of dogs like can't stand seeing images of them phobia but I love your work so much, I don't know what it is but there's something beautiful about how I can look at it without feeling that phobia. Like being on top of a mountain and seeing the view of the world below or how fire looks pretty close up. Your art to me feels like that scene in fantastic mr fox with the wolf.
Ah, that's both heartwarming and very interesting, I've never heard of any cynophobes liking my work! Thank you!
(I won't bother you about it of course, but I can't help but wonder if it's the same thing for all furry/anthro art you see or for some reason just me, and if it's the latter, what could be making my stuff more palatable for someone who is that intensely uncomfortable with canines. My style isn't realistic but it isn't super stylized and exaggerated either. Is it about the anthropomorphization and the humanlike features, expressions and behavior? When I draw actual dog-shaped-dogs, are they harder to look at?).

sokka hates the fire nation but nonetheless subscribes to their logic through internalizing his own dehumanization, albeit in the name of sacrificing what is necessary to resist imperialism. on the other hand, aang refuses to sacrifice his humanity, which is intrinsically tied to the culture that was deemed deserving of extermination, and by recognizing the fullness of his personhood and his intrinsic right to exist, he defeats the tenets of imperialism on an ideological battleground. that is why it is so crucial that aang’s influence over sokka, as an air nomad, and as someone who did not grow up under the looming shadow of colonialism and genocide, is what helps him regain the childhood he had forsworn in the name of war—his laughter, his joy, and his humanity.

another example of how being popular in feminist online circles does not make someone a feminist by default. once again not much the fault of the community that called her out on her lesbophobia months ago for "driving her away" from feminism, but another symptom of a bigotry rabbit hole she was already slowly falling into

Tim: yeah I’m bi
Kon, who has a major crush on Tim and trying to get with him: Oh, I’m bi myself
Oblivious Tim: it’s okay Kon, you don’t need a relationship to be happy
Tim, walking away: Hey Bernard, haven’t seen you in years, how you been, let’s hang out

Fucks me up to think about how Legato's legacy in-universe after his death in Trimax (and presumably Tristamp) is probably gonna be how much he sucked and nothing else....
Like, nobody will like Knives but Vash will be long-lived enough to be able to eventually talk about his good qualities from when he was a child and his quasi-redemption in his last days. But who remembers Legato? Livio and Vash are the only living people with any extended memory of him and neither of them would have anything nice to say (and rightfully so). Neither of them probably knew he was a slave, either—as far as Vash can tell this dude showed up one day and hated his guts, for all he knows he's just another survivor from July! Outside of Knives, Elendira, Legato, and maybe Conrad, I don't think any other character knows his actual life story.
And to add on to that, there's no way of looking up that past either—he had no name or personhood before he was effectively rescued, so who could investigators or reporters or archivists track down for information? The human being that was Legato only existed for as long as he knew Knives, before that he was something to be kept and abused as an object. There's presumably no surviving family they can reliably contact, nobody to really say "yes I knew him, here's what his life was like, here's how we can prevent something like this from happening again".
His entire existence will be reduced down to "a human weapon that was freakishly loyal to public enemy #1" without any reflection on the mechanisms that made him the way he was because there's just no actual knowledge of his life.

once again thinking about the worldbuilding in the riordanverse of "names are power" / "belief is power."
The Tri were only able to become immortal through convincing enough people to worship them that it became true. Monsters and immortals only exist through continued belief, and if enough people believe that they're dead or gone then it becomes true, like Pan. Their varied forms exist and manifest as they're believed in and called upon. Names call attention and epithets summon aspects. They're acknowledgement. Belief. Putting a name to a concept creates it as an individual.
And that's so fascinating when you start applying it to demigods. How much of their abilities are based on belief in themselves, in expectations of each other, in their parents' expectations of them? We've seen mortal figures who became immortal in some form or another because they were remembered. Even the lares - ancestral house gods, who persist because they're remembered. They have a legacy.
At what point does a demigod achieve that status? Rumors and whispers about them so persistent that they slowly become true. "I heard that Jason Grace is the son of two gods, does that make him a god?" "I heard Percy Jackson defeated a titan single-handedly. That he can create hurricanes without breaking a sweat. That he can control blood." After awhile, after enough rumors, does it become impossible to tell where they end and the legends begin? Isn't that what being a demigod is; half-legend?

leona and jamil’s interactions in 6-67 and their growth
book 6 threw me in for a wringer with leona and jamil’s relationship, and it's funny because i never realized how similar they are until leona was pointing out all of jamil's negative thoughts about himself, as if he knew these thoughts like the back of his hand. tell me i'm not the only one seeing parallels between them:
jamil as a kid was told he was never going to be equal to kalim, because he's supposed to be kalim's servant; having to concede to him at every turn in private and in public.
leona as a kid hearing whispers about how he was so different from the bright falena, and how he wouldn't ever get the throne; all his achievements a mere shadow to anything falena did.
jamil who tried to create an elaborate scheme to pit everyone against kalim, and to subtly kick kalim from his "throne", only for it all to backfire, and for him to be so scorned by having everyone find out that he overblotted.
leona who created a plot in order to secretly reduce competition in the magift tournaments, and tried to severely injure malleus draconia to keep him from playing, only for his plot to be revealed, and for him to give up on trying, thus leading to his overblot.
and then when you think about it, leona probably sees the younger version himself in jamil. jamil’s lust for power is something that leona’s been through more than once, and he knows how being arrogant can lead someone down a bad path.
the rut that he was stuck in was the fact that he thought he was more suitable than falena. but was leona right for the throne ? or did he just want the throne to prove all the people who slighted him wrong ? and again, with magift, he knew that he didn't have the magic power to beat malleus, but he still wanted to win, so bad that he played dirty tricks.
sounds familiar ? it’s basically what jamil did to try and rip the housewarden seat from kalim. jamil thinks himself more suitable and worthy than kalim but is that because he IS more suitable, or is it because he wants to publicly be better than kalim at something for once ?
that’s why leona wants jamil to move on past that. he needs to throw away the arrogance that he’s the 'best', and that 'others just don’t see his brilliance', because…he has a long way to go. leona recognizes his potential. he learned the lesson that jamil is going through the hard way, that’s why he’s trying to help him.
jamil kept insisting that he could protect leona, because he’s convinced that he is more capable at protecting him, relying on his perception of who he thought leona was, rather than acknowledging his prowess. leona knows that he’s more skillful, and he, in the end, succeeds in getting him to accept that.
when jamil can accept that he doesn’t know all that there is, and that he’s at the bottom of the pecking order…that’s exactly when he can start moving up. that’s when he can start working on his skills for the future rather than lamenting the fact that others don’t see his potential.
and that’s exactly the lesson that leona wants him to learn.

I'm thinking of how funny it would be if Ark and Twig came across an outlaw that they don't actually know is an outlaw. And they tag along, hoping for the chance to steal their stuff for a quick buck.
And then they quickly realize just how bad of a situation they're I'm because these two adventurers, NEITHER of whom are registered under an official guild, are destroying these monsters with ease! For goodness sake, that creepy one just powderized that guy while discussing dinner plans! And he didn't skip a beat! Eventually they make their way out and, ever so thankfully, they're not infamous enough to be wanted in this somewhat isolated town. But now they're crashing at Twig's place because he let slip that they dont have a place to stay?? And they can't sneak out because that creepy floaty guy isn't going to bed???? And they have a kid that can transform but ISN'T a ditto!?!? Apparently they have guests coming later, that's good. Maybe they can slip out when they're distr- IS THAT CELEBI!?!?!?!??

Anon you have NO idea how in love with this concept I am. It veered in a rather different direction than what you originally provided— hope I didn’t take too many liberties with your initial premise!

Thoughts on if the USA will pass Israel 'aid' separate from Ukraine 'aid'?
Think the Dems would much rather give concessions on the border wall or abortion rights than allow anything to impede either war, think GOP would rather force concessions on the border wall or abortion rights than to do anything more than huff and puff about Ukraine

kicking my feet and giggling this whole scene. he really is like that, huh.
i didn't realize we see this. i thought it was like, an aside that the party doesn't bear witness to. me and my fellow durgetash shippers have been talking this whole time about durge recognizing gortash at the inauguration but what if they recognize him HERE???? can you imagine. covered in the viscera of the mind flayer colony, seeing him being all evil mastermindy and smug - it might almost feel like home.
and then just stewing on that familiarity! how do they know him? would he have recognized them if they stepped forward? i imagine ketheric recognizes durge, so they have to assume gortash would, too. which is fucked! why do all the evil chosen people know them!?? sooo many more questions for durge to find answers for, so much potential angst depending on exactly what feelings are brought up by seeing him.

It’s important to me that people understand that JK Rowling was NOT always like this. Her opinions used to be mildly liberal and very feminist but not TERF-y. She mostly ignored trans issues, occasionally raising them up if she felt it applicable.
But it’s important to me that people recognize her descent into radicalization because it can happen to any of us. It is so easy in this day and age to fall down the wrong internet rabbit hole and start spewing hate thinking you’re being logical.
So yes, JKR is a TERF. But we are all capable of becoming something full of hate just like her. It’s important we recognize this and stay vigilant with ourselves.

WHY are all the factions on the island so interested in qcharlie all of the sudden btw. like why are they looking at the world's most pathetic specimen of a man and thinking "ah yes. I Must manipulate him into doing my bidding. surely he can endure more psychological torture. this is the most logical course of action."
