wrestling fic writers!!

i have decided to be the change i wanna see, so lets do a nice little thing for each other, as a community full of incredible and talented writers. yes this is writer specific only, but thats cause thats where the main problem of people not interacting with creative works lies in this fandom as far as i can tell and have seen people talking about it especially in the last couple of months

if you read this, please add links to your written works. it can be just a single fic youre really proud of, your writing blog, your writing tag, your ao3 account, anything where your works can be found

and if you leave your link here, PLEASE check out someone else that has left their works, and interact with them. leave them a comment, even just a kudos, REBLOG their fic, etc. interacting is the keyword i want to emphasize here, along with building a sort of a masterpost of where to find people writing in this fandom

and if you are not a writer, youre still highly encouraged to interact with this post and share it and show love to the writers in this fandom, obviously!! i think that should go without saying, but adding it in anyways

and just in general.. leave people comments. leave them asks about their projects. just go over and gush about their work. i know it sounds embarrassing but writers love nothing more than to hear that someone likes what they are doing. if you find a fic that hasnt been updated in forever, comment on it. it might just be the spark the author needs to continue. while kudos and likes are nice, and just as valuable to some, its definitely in the words the people leave for them that matter the most. im not saying this to put pressure on anyone, its just how it is, and i feel like unless people are writers themselves, and even then sometimes, thats just hard to grasp, especially if the writer is a smaller and less popular one who doesnt get a lot of traffic in the first place

i think thats all. just be nice and considered to everyone, reblog peoples works, this post with others add ons and so forth. and if i find anyone talking shit here or at other writers for something they share, you'll be blocked and im probably taking your kneecaps. be fucking nice. we are all struggling here and we need to stick together

Steve pretended he hadn't seen the list of all the ailments, so he omitted everything when he filled out the army form; somehow he was going to get in.

You took the form Steve had filled out and checked the notes you had taken. When he had been checked, you shook your head. Although he had seemed shy, under the guidelines, he was not suitable.

However, you remembered that Dr. Erskine had specifically asked you if Steve went to tell him immediately; he hadn't told anyone else but you, but it seemed that the doctor thought Steve was an excellent candidate for an experiment.

Although your experience as a nurse told you that it was not possible, when you saw his determination and that there were already too many attempts, maybe the doctor was right. So, you immediately went out to tell him. Erskine seemed very happy, and she immediately broke into a smile.

Weeks later

You finished filling out the report, and the next day they would apply the serum to Steve. Fortunately, you had to be involved in the whole process. There was something in that man that had captivated you, although a part of you feared that things would turn out badly.

“Steve greeted you; you looked up; you didn't even notice when he entered the infirmary.

“Hi, are you ready for the big day?" you asked.

“Not really," Steve replied sheepishly, then cleared his throat. "If all goes well, would you agree to go for a milkshake with me?"

Steve immediately looked down. He was sure you were going to turn him down, but you were actually surprised, and you smiled.

“Of course I would, but only if you put in the effort to endure the serum," you replied.

Steve had finally found motivation.

About Me

Hiya! My name’s Val or Valentina, but you can pretty much call me whatever you want, or call me Dess if you like, since I try not to make too many ooc posts on here. I’m genderfluid and pretty much okay with any pronouns.

About the Blog

This is a blog focusing around Dess from Deltarune, including multiple versions of her. I follow back from @thewholesomebean and am open to roleplay with both mutuals and non-mutuals. However, I may not follow back depending on a blog’s content or how often I expect to interact with them.

Multiple verses are going to be used on the blog, and they are all listed in the tags section. More information on them can be found here.

Following & Blocking

I will not outright block someone unless they make me uncomfortable. Otherwise, I’ll just softblock and move on. However, whatever you want to do is entirely up to you, it’s your decision, not mine.

Writing Style

Asks directed towards Dess will be answered in quotation marks with Dess speaking. Responses to roleplay starters will be formatted in a third-person style, with dialogue bolded and thoughts italicized. Texts will be in brackets and will have the character’s name in front of them.

Activity

I’ll be somewhere around semi-active, but I will try to at least check the blog once a day and reblog some roleplay things. I may go through long periods of inactivity due to getting busy or burnt-out, but I’ll try to announce when those happen.

Boundaries

Despite my muse being an adult in some versions, I am a minor and will block anyone who sends me anything with 18+ content. Occasional PG-13 jokes or implications and such are allowed, but if it makes me uncomfortable, there is a chance I likely just ignore it unless it is extreme. Flirting towards my muse is acceptable so long as the character doing it is in a similar age range to that version of the muse.

Shipping

So long as it isn’t pedophilic, incestous, or toxic, I’m alright with shipping between my muse and anothers.

There will be content including darker topics, though I will do my best to tag any potential triggers when they come up. If there is anything that you would like to be tagged, please send me an ask and I’ll be sure to do it.

Just like last year, there are not a whole lot of rules for todoiideku week, but there are a few. Last year I waited till pretty late to get the rules out and I apologize for that, so I wanted to go ahead and get the rules out for this year now.

If there is anything that you would like to be added you can send me a message and I will take it into consideration :)

I feel like rules are important but I don’t want to make too many because I do not want to limit anyone’s creativity.

Todoiideku Week 2022 Rules

1. All content must be your own. Any stolen art will not be reblogged on this account.

2. No overly explicit (NSFW) content. I feel like this one is pretty self explanatory, but if you have any questions on if your art/writing/etc falls into this category send me a message and i will let you know.

3. All content must feature Tenya Iida, Shouto Todoroki, and Izuku Midoriya. You can add other characters if you want, but the three of them must be included (and the main focus). This is todoiideku week, and is centered around the relationship of the three of them. It is not tododeku, iitodo, or iideku.

4. Please put trigger/content warnings and tag properly for things that are common triggers (ex. Blood, Violence, knifes, and things of that nature). This rule is put into place to make sure that everyone here feels safe and can have fun.

5. If you want to, you can post multiple things for each day and it will all be reblogged on this account.

6. Do not make mean comments about anyone’s art/writing/etc. This week is for everyone who loves this ship to have fun and post things they have made. If I see anyone make mean comments on someone’s content you will automatically be blocked and will not be allowed to participate in todoiideku from that point on.

i’m trying to list down all the digimon otp-related weeks that is happening/going to happen/recently happened, and i’m thinking just to share them here for a signal boost, in case anyone’s looking for an event to celebrate their favourite pair(s).

Y’all, it’s finally here! After reaching 2k followers (2.1k now!), I really wanted to do something special to celebrate such a huge milestone! I’ve spent weeks cultivating this idea, because I wanted it to be perfect. But it’s more than that. I didn’t just want a celebration where y’all send me prompts and I spent weeks and weeks slowly answering them all. I wanted something where there was real interaction with you all. And that’s how this idea came about. This little mini event.

I really want to highlight all of y’all, but most importantly, I want to celebrate and promote the amazing content creators in this fandom. Lately, I feel like so many content creators have been put in the corner and have been overlooked, and it’s time to shine the spotlight back to the incredible creators that keep this fandom alive with their gifs and writing and art.

So, here’s what this little mini event entails. This event will be over the course of a week, from January 25th-January 31st. The days I’m highlighting are Monday (Jan 25), Wednesday (Jan 27), Friday (Jan 29), and Sunday (Jan 31). And on those days, y’all can post any kind of content you want. Whether it be fics, graphics, edits, art, gifs, poetry, comics, music, videos, photoshop, etc. You name it, it’s allowed. Any kind of content you want to create. There’s no pressure to do all the days. You can do one day. You can do all four days. There’s no limits on how short or long anything has to be, either.

Since I’m a destiel blog, the main ship for this event will be destiel. But the reason I have this as a spn content event is because I want to open it up to other aspects of the fandom. So if you want to create general spn content, that’s perfect. If y’all want to write het or gay ships, that’s cool too. Let’s just keep the i*cest and underage away, please. But any other ships or general spn content y’all want to create is absolutely acceptable. And of course, I will be participating alongside y’all and I will write and post fics for the 4 days.

And to add to the fun, I want y’alls help in setting the prompts for the 4 days. So what I’m going to do is open it up to you all. From when I publish this post until Friday January 15th at 11:59pm (PST), y’all can reply to this post and suggest what prompts y’all would like for the 4 days of the event. If you like someone else’s idea, please throw your vote in for that. Whichever ideas have the most votes by Friday I will make a post and let everyone know those are the prompts for the 4 days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). And if there isn’t many votes, I’ll just pick the 4 suggestions I think have the most potential.

Hi, I’m Cyn and sometimes I write 🥰 Always posted on ao3, I made the decision to restrict it to registered users only 🫶 I am a self indulgent writer and I write purely for myself (few exceptions are made, but even so I enjoy the fics I write for others). I share my fics on the off chance someone else might like them too, but I really don’t feel the need to defend my choices especially if I don’t know you. If we’ve established a connection, then I’m all for chatting and explaining my thinking. I highly encourage writing your own fic and making it how you want. It’s more rewarding that way, and you get to say you created something! 🩵

While I’m here, I’m very easily set off by the canon ship and my notp so if I see it I will get upset, it’s not that serious, just leave me be. I’ll get over it, cause being rude and leaving mean comments on those posts are not okay, especially when there are people who like those ships and make things for them.

Also I’m a fangirl first and foremost so I thrive off leaving love letters and reblogging things (primarily on my main account), that being said I’m also super picky. I only comment on things I enjoyed, and I don’t like angst/mcd so don’t expect to see my username on those fics. I try to read everything, but it doesn’t always work out.

I guess I have to add the super obvious, there are no bad endings in my fics (unless I specify in the beginning and I will tag it cause I know how it feels since I hate reading that shit myself. I literally write the same story every time) if you’ve read one you’re read them all imo. We just take slightly different routes to get to the same conclusion: my ships are meant to be in every single universe and that’s final! I preach commenting because I think it’s the absolute least we can do when an author has done so much by giving us these amazing fics to read, but I’m not someone who needs/wants praise so please don’t comment if you’re gonna be annoying. Either read it and move on or just exit the fic, it’s really not that difficult.

Why I Ship Johnny/Female V: Part 2

[Part 1] [Part 2]

This is Part 2 of my essay series on why I ship Johnny and female V. Back in part 1, I covered why I ship female V specifically with Johnny and not male V, as well as some thoughts on Johnny’s sexuality. This time, I’m looking at Johnny himself. (Content warning: there is some discussion of rape and how rape is handled in fiction.)

Johnny, ambiguity and age-old romantic tropes

Look, I’m just going to come out and say this: part of my interest in this ship is thirsting over Johnny. And when I’m interested in something, whether it’s an intellectual, creative or sexual interest, I like to do what I always do – analyse it to death. So what is it about the actor, the performance and the character that makes Johnny as attractive as he is?

Keanu Reeves himself, obviously, can’t be ignored here. He has a gorgeous face and voice, but crucially, he’s distinctively beautiful. Obviously, everyone has the right to be into what they’re into, and I don’t want to shame anyone for their tastes. But I do not understand people who are into the blandly beautiful. Sure, there’s nothing wrong about, let’s say, Chris Evans. But what’s right about him? Where are the snags that catch your attention and hold it? Where’s the life?

Reeves, meanwhile, is attractive because he’s unusual. He has long, dark hair, but he’s regularly photographed at public events with it mussed-up. He has a chiselled face, but his cheekbones are high enough that he looks alien. He has all the charisma of any Hollywood actor, but, whether this is him as he is or an especially well-calculated image choice, it comes off as genuine. When watching interviews with him, you feel less in the presence of a star and more an especially fascinating stranger at a party, one who, despite bursting with witticisms and stories, somehow wants to talk to you most of all.

There’s also an element of age ambiguity here. Reeves is in his fifties, and while age suits his looks better than youth did, it shows. Meanwhile, Johnny the character is in his thirties when he dies, and to match this, the animators smooth out Reeves’ face and darken his beard. They also give Johnny the (unrealistic but glorious) organic arms of a dedicated bodybuilder. So what Johnny ends up with is the presence, confidence and charisma of an older guy, combined with the physicality of someone younger. It’s potent, to say the least. It also adds to Johnny’s uncanniness as a character. He’s caught between maturity and youth, life and death, humanity and machine; he’s hard to pinpoint no matter where you look. And whether you express this academia-style, as, ‘the gothic associates uncanniness with sexuality’, or internet-style, as, ‘I’m a monster/robotfucker’, this is, as the kids say, pretty damn hot.

This uncanniness, as well as Reeves’ looks and performance, also offset some of the more unlikeable aspects of Johnny’s personality. This is best illustrated by the concept art created for Johnny before Reeves was brought on board. (Found courtesy of the lovely folks at r/LowSodiumCyberpunk.)

As you can see, they had a lot of Johnny’s look already nailed down. But this makes the differences all the more startling. This Johnny looks like he’s been dragged through the wringer. His hair is messier, and he seems to be getting premature wrinkles and balding. He’s strung-out, with a genuinely hopeless cast to his face. His look is also a lot more dated. While our Johnny has elements of the old rocker, the jean jacket, bandana, V-necked black jumper and aviators clipped to the tank top root this Johnny inescapably in 1980s music and fashion.

Why is all this relevant to shipping Johnny with V? Partially because I’m shallow, I’m not going to lie. But it’s also because making Johnny look like this would have made him much more obviously an intrusion. A guy dressed like this next to 2077’s booty shorts and space buns is like a ghost in a ballgown next to a woman in jeans. He’s not just out of time; he’s been irrevocably left behind. Johnny’s face here also has much less in the way of possibility. Where our Johnny says, ‘maybe your life would be better if you listened to me’, this Johnny screams, ‘my way is hopeless, but you can’t ignore it’. It’s leaning much more into the tragic aspects of Johnny’s character and of the genre of cyberpunk. And don’t get me wrong – I love that artwork, and think that angle would be an interesting artistic choice.

But making Johnny a tragic intrusion like this removes the element of seduction, so to speak, from his character. What makes Johnny attractive, ideologically, sexually and romantically, is a balance of certainty and uncertainty. On the surface, he’s passionately, blazingly certain of his politics, his music and himself. If you’re taking a leap of faith, whether that’s fighting against the corpos that rule your life or hopping into bed with an engram, what draws you to it is the kind of confidence that makes you doubt your own certainties. Yet too much of that can be off-putting. Nobody wants a partner who’s so cocksure (pardon the pun) that they don’t listen to what you want, and nobody wants a political ally who’s gone so far into their own rhetoric that they can’t convince those outside it.

Therefore, the common factor across all the ways Reeves’ looks impact our perception of Johnny is the balancing of two seemingly opposing things. Keep that in mind, because it only gets more relevant the deeper into this ship, and Johnny’s attractiveness, we go.

Of course, Reeves’ looks are far from the only thing he brings to the table. His acting, across body language, facial expressions and voice acting, is incredible. I want to take a look at his voice acting, as well as his voice generally, first.

I’m not familiar enough with the subtleties of American accents to pinpoint why, but Reeves’ accent sounds slightly different to the more generic accents of other famous actors. Perhaps it’s because he’s Canadian. Either way, his consonants are less harsh on the ear than other A-list actors, his vowels less elongated. He speaks slowly, sounding as if he just woke up. His voice is mellow and soothing; it’s the sort of sound you could take a bath in.

(For reference purposes, I’m listening to this Cyberpunk trailer as I write this, as well as, um, this video that I’ve watched far too many times. XD)

Obviously, to play Johnny he has to modify that laid-back aspect of his voice. But it’s interesting how his natural voice and his ‘Johnny’ voice bounce off each other. Reeves is able to pull off a much more belligerent Johnny than many actors could, precisely because of that laid-back quality his natural voice has. Think of that ‘impressive cock’ line. It’s made as funny as it is because of the total lack of shame in how Reeves delivers it. But in the mouth of an actor like, let’s say, Robert Downey Jr, that level of shamelessness would just come off as annoying. Reeves uses his natural voice to amp up Johnny’s, for lack of a better word, Chad-ness, far beyond the place another actor could manage. Because he has that base of softness, he can go hard on Johnny’s arrogance.

Why is this relevant to Johnny’s attractiveness as a character, as well as why Johnny/F!V are a fascinating ship? To develop a character well, you have to have an extremely solid base to start on – and that base is where a lot of writing and acting falls down. The audience has to know intimately what a character is usually like, or who they seem to be, before burrowing into the character further is made effective. That equal hard/soft approach means that when Johnny does soften later in the game, it seems both unexpected and inevitable. Even as the harsh tone and words were conveying one thing, that softness underneath was always conveying another. But the fact that Reeves can go hard on the arrogance makes that change much more impactful than it would be in another character. Once again, we’re seeing an equal balance of two seemingly opposing qualities, not openly leaning towards one or the other.

There’s also some aspects of the body language Reeves and the animators give to Johnny I’d like to focus in on. While I’m not an actor, nor am I a psychologist, and therefore am likely to have missed things, there were a few things I noticed when going through footage of Johnny in pivotal scenes. (If you spot something I haven’t talked about, please reply or reblog! I’d love to get a back-and-forth discussion going.)

Over and over again, Johnny’s body language has two layers. There’s what I’m calling the ‘douchebag’ layer, which is where Johnny seems insultingly relaxed. The scene when V and Johnny first meet, as well as the scene at the diner, have two great examples of this. Johnny gets into V’s space, but it’s slow, catlike. There’s no urgency when he leans in, nor when he stands over V.

Similarly, at the diner, he tells V he doesn’t want to kill her anymore – something pivotally important for their relationship and the plot - while putting his arms behind his head and his feet up on the table. It communicates, at least on the surface, a real sense of disrespect. ‘I don’t give a shit’, says his posture, ‘whether you hate and fear me or not’. His threatening slowness when they first meet, meanwhile, communicates that he doesn’t think V is a competent opponent. Why should he hurry if he can get her any time?

At least, that’s what it looks like. Take a look from 9:40 onwards here. Sure, he swings his legs up on the table – but not before hurrying into the diner booth and tapping his fingers rapidly on the table. Even when he gets into that relaxed posture, he’s bouncing his leg the entire time. Those catlike movements I talked about when they first meet? If you look from 5:42 here, they’re there. But they’re also interspersed with banging his head incessantly against the wall, pacing back and forth and glitching unpredictably all around the room.

This is where the second layer of Johnny’s body language comes in. Underneath all that casual condescension, he communicates constant, frenetic energy, even anxiety. Even in his default, idle animations, it’s extremely rarely that Johnny communicates real coolness and calm. He covers constantly racing thoughts and feelings with a slick persona.

What this does is very like the hard/soft balance of the voice acting I talked about earlier. Because the ‘douchebag’ layer of body language is the most obvious one, you pick up on that first. But the other layer is there throughout Johnny’s entire arc, and it goes into your brain on a much more subconscious level. Then, when Johnny’s guard does come down, it seems like a natural development of his character while still being a surprise. Once again, there’s that knife-edge balance between two disparate qualities. And for me, attraction always lies in the space between.

There’s also something highly sexual about the way he gets into V’s space when they first meet, the way he stands over her. When first playing the scene where they first meet, it felt like watching the moments before an act of rape. You see him first as he leans over you while you’re still in bed. He beats you to the ground, smashes your head into the window, and towers over you while you’re collapsed on the floor. Given the context of him taking over your body, the overtones are unmistakeable.

But again, crucially, that frantic body language and his lines are the complete opposite of how someone behaves when making the kind of power play that rape is. The pacing, the panicked words and the fact that he’s caught off guard all communicate disempowerment. While it’s still a violent, frightening scene, it’s not a monstrous one.

Why is that relevant to discussing Johnny’s attractiveness, and Johnny/V? Because rape fantasies and male domination are some of the oldest tropes in the book for M/F romantic arcs. Done properly, they play on desires of sexual submission without explicitly acknowledging the kink, depict the eroticism of that liminal space between humanity and monstrosity I talked about earlier and allow you to fantasise about being deeply wanted. Of course, that last bit isn’t a factual depiction of rape in real life. But in the fantasy, the story, the idea of being ravished is partially about being special, being so uniquely attractive that the guy loses all control of himself. If you have a more conservative or repressed view of your sexuality, the ravishment/rape fantasy also allows you to fantasise about sex without seeing yourself as a slut. (This post is a great look at that last idea as applied to the movie Labyrinth, if you want to find out more.)

The idea of sexualised monstrosity is also everywhere in the tropes used to characterise Johnny. He’s a troubled rockstar, an angst-ridden artist who died tragically young, a violent political rebel, part human and part supernatural creature, a charismatic, cocky, seemingly heartless guy, who just might have a heart if you look deep enough. What all these tropes have in common is the promise of both reassuring humanity and fascinating, exciting monstrosity.

Reeves’ and Johnny’s looks combine strangeness and humanity. Reeves’ voice acting moves between soaring arrogance and languid softness. Johnny’s body language combines fear and overconfidence. And the use of age-old romantic tropes in an unexpected context, as well as the use of these specific romantic tropes, knit all the effects of the other things together to create that balance between the human and the strange. He’s unusual enough to be interesting, human enough to seem real and associated with all our cultural symbolism of an attractive man. With all that going on, how could you not find him hot as hell?

But the thing about these tropes is, they’re also so common they’re clichéd. Not just in fandom, but all across Western media and art. So what lifts Johnny and Johnny/V out of being something generic? What makes them so fascinating that I’ve written thousands of words about them? What, in short, makes them different?

|| tips on giving and receiving more interaction ||

Since as someone with anxiety I know it can be hard sometimes! Here is some stuff that works for me :)

On giving more interaction:

• Try your best to send an ask when reblogging an ask game! Most people will 100% appreciate it, and it's a good chance to start interacting more if you're not used to it. Even if you're not reblogging it, it's always a nice thing to do.

• If you see someone's gush post, acknowledge it! A like is a nice and simple way to show that you support their feelings. If you can, never be afraid to reply or send an ask telling them that their F/Os return their affections. Validation is always lovely to get!

• If you're nervous about sending asks, there are a few things you can do:

Send it anonymously if it is enabled! If you want to, you can also sign it with an emoji or pseudonym.

Another good rule of thumb if you're nervous - would you object to getting a nice ask? Usually the answer is no, of course! There's generally no reason to hold off on sending positivity their way, even if it's small.

If they are okay with F/O letters, absolutely send them one if you can! Even just a little note can make someone's day - OOC or not. I've recieved an ""OOC"" letter or two. Trust me, they're adorable and always incredible to see.

• Make sure to read their about, DNI, and F/O list if available! Be certain that any shared F/Os are comfortabley shared, and double check their about for things such as pronouns, interests, or blacklists. Not everyone has these, but it never hurts to check!

On recieving more interaction:

• Related to the point above, please please please have an accessible F/O list. Most people uncomfortable sharing won't want to interact if they're uncertain of your faves, and those comfortable sharing generally don't want to step on any toes if you are not. Put a link in your bio or pinned post - there are guides online if you need them.

• If you want, add a list of interests as well! I generally seek out people who ship in the same fandom as I do, or have similar interests.

• Make a promo! Doesn't have to be anything fancy, but if you want you could add pictures, GIFs, dividers, etc. Be sure to reblog the promos of others when you see them, too.

• From my experience, interaction begets more interaction! Reach out to anyone who seems cool (and if uncomfy with DMs, asks work just as well), and even if your posts don't have many notes yet, maybe you'll have a friend to talk to!

• Tag your posts if possible! Even an "ok to reblog," or "reblogs appreciated," can help a lot - on the same note, if you want to know what kind of content you can produce, here are some ideas:

Writing and art are the most obvious ideas - they don't have to be good or even a lot. Scribble on a napkin. Make snippits of dialogue. Post one or two headcanons about your S/I, your F/O, or your ship.

Picrews are fun if you don't want to or don't have the energy to draw! Remember to link the picrew for credit, as well.

You can also make moodboards, simple edits, playlists, positivity or imagines, anything that you think might be fun to do? Try it! There's no harm in not being a ~master editor~ or anything else for that matter, as long as your having fun.

Since I see negativity on literally every avatar ship post, I’m making a master list of good things about every ship I can think of. Reblog, but only with positive additions.

Kataang: yeah man! Look at those precious beans in love. My babies, the lights of my life, so pure 🥺

Zutara: we all love that opposites attract/ enemies to lovers dynamic huh? But once again. MY CHILDREN.

Taang: Ayyyeeee look at them huh? Bruh they are trouble PERSONIFIED. Can you imagine? Also, opposites attract.

Sukka: Suki was on that queen shit huh? And she took my boy Sokka and turned him from a sexist clown into a KING. Also she taught him how to fight and we love that.

Tokka: take everything I said about Taang and make it double. Y’all remember that scam episode from season three? I like to imagine that’s what they’d be like all the time. Also Suyin is Sokka’s daughter we don’t argue that.

Maiko: Goths unite! Imagine betraying your best friends (no matter how abusive), nation, and family on the word of your ex and people STILL saying you don’t love him.

Sokkla: enemies to lovers but make it hard mode why don’t you? Azula DESERVES a redemption arc and who better to help her than the cocky water tribe warrior we all know and love.

Toko: Shared trauma anyone? Ok so it’s not exactly the same but they both are known for their difficult relationships with their parents, and being the exact opposite of what their fathers wanted. The whole point of this ship is Toph needs a life changing field trip with Zuko so please make a note of that in your fanworks.

Yukka: Time to insert some tragedy into my ships for flavor. What is Yukka if not Romeo and Juliet but with magic and the moon? Also everytime I think of this ship I think of the reverse werewolf meme.

Ty Lokka: Honestly Ty Lee you’re right. Sokka is kinda cute. Both of my babies are nonbenders who will eff you up. Don’t mess with them.

Sokkaang: these two share one ☝️ brain cell and I am here for it. What is a best friend if not a love story that needs a little push?

Zukaang: The avatar who has always been destined to bring balance and the only living survivor of a mass genocide goes from enemies to friends to lovers with the Fire Prince who spends his arc chasing his destiny only to end up on the opposite side he thought he would be? Not to mention the subversion that comes with him chasing aang (his destiny) for a whole season and ughhhhh. Can you smell the poetry?

Zukka: yeah the dynamic from Zutara is great but that’s the wrong water tribe sibling. Also the moment where Zuko walks in on Sokka with the rose is pure comedic genius.

Mai Lee: that moment when you betray your best friend (no matter how abusive), family, and nation cause she’s about to execute your definitely traitor other best friend who hasn’t even explained herself and people still don’t think you love her.

Tyzula: do you remember that moment when Azula got jealous of Ty Lee and lashed out at her but then she apologized when Ty Lee started crying even though she was established as being cold hearted and this showed a moment of genuine vulnerability on Azula’s part? Actually do you remember the entire beach episode? Cause I do.

Katoph: so we aren’t going to address how they started out butting heads but eventually learned to trust each other? Or that Irohs advice to Toph was for her to let the people who love her take care of her when her problems were with Katara? Okay cool, cool, cool.

Welcome to the first Jiara July Jubilee!

This is an event created by a group of Jiara blogs on Tumblr with the goal of inspiring fanfiction writers to create and share more Jiara-related content, and will take place from Sunday, July 26th - Saturday, August 1st, 2020.

Writers who are interested in participating will be challenged to write Jiara fanfiction based on specific tropes and prompts! The prompts are designed to be open-ended, so please feel free to take your writing in any direction that inspires you. There is no word-maximum or minimum, and you can do as many days as you want, whether it’s just one prompt or all of them. The ultimate goal of this event is to give Jiara writers an opportunity to publish and share work with the fandom, so please post your work on whatever platform you use, whether it’s here on Tumblr, AO3, or Fanfiction.net. This is designed to be an opportunity to collaborate with others and celebrate Jiara, so the most important thing is to have fun with it!

How It Works:

Read the prompts below and start thinking about what you would like to write for each day! Again, this is entirely open, so whatever direction you want to take your fic in is great. There is no pressure to write for every day, especially if you are overwhelmed once the event starts.

If you're interested, please message any of the hosts (@alphinias, @hmsjiara, @outerpogues, @maddieandherships, or @jjskiaras) and we will add you into the event’s group chat where we can all support each other and share our work! We hope this will help inspire people to create content and get some good feedback. You can also participate without joining the group chat, and there is no sign-up deadline, so feel free to start whenever you want!

You can start writing now, or wait until the week of the event and write/post on the same day. If you are going to pre-write, please do not start posting too far in advance to the date of each prompt. And as the purpose of this event is to create new content, please don’t submit old work, even if it does fit the prompt.

Please try and make sure your content is primarily Jiara focused, but feel free to include other characters and ships as well!

Use the hashtag #jiarajuly on any post that was inspired by the prompts below, and please tag us in any of your work! We’d love to like, reblog, and give feedback on anything people write, so don’t be shy or afraid to submit.

The prompts for the week are listed below.

Day 1: Sunday, July 26th - Precanon Day!

Write a fic or drabble about Jiara that takes place before the events of the first season of OBX. It’s up to you to decide how far back your content goes, from Jiara as kids to the events of Kiara’s Kook Year!

Day 2: Monday, July 27th - Activity Day!

Write a fic or drabble about any activity/hobby that Jiara or the Pogues may enjoy or do frequently. Examples include: surfing, mechanics, boating, fishing, dancing, JJ braiding Kie’s hair, etc.

Day 3: Tuesday, July 28th - AU Day!

Write a fic or drabble about Jiara that takes place outside the canon universe of the show. It can simply be a diversion from canon, inspired by your favorite book or tv series, or a specific concept such as roommates or celebrities. We want to see it all, from Soulmate AUs to Coffee Shop AUs to Hogwarts AUs.

Day 4: Wednesday, July 29th - Destination Day!

Write a fic or drabble about Jiara that takes place in a location outside the Outer Banks. This can be anywhere, from a different spot in the US or in another part of the world.

Day 5: Thursday, July 30th - 5 + 1 Day!

This one is pretty self explanatory; write any fic or drabble about Jiara that is in the 5 + 1 format. If this seems too long, feel free to switch it to a 3 +1 or 4 + 1! An example of this would be something like the fives times Kiara almost kissed JJ, and the one time she did.

Day 6: Friday, July 31st - Firsts Day!

Write a fic or drabble that focuses on a first for Jiara. This can be anything: first kiss, first date, first time! There are so many options out there for them to explore.

Day 7: Saturday, August 1st - Genre Day!

Write a fic or drabble that fits with your favorite genre, such as angst, hurt/comfort, fluff, or smut. Anything goes. This is pretty much a free day, but we really want to see what you come up with!
