MHA 400 leak reactions

Everyone was hyped for 400, so Hori gave us boob jokes to open the chapter (just like how he ended 100 with a boob joke). Love it.

But really, Hagakure becoming visible as she helps Aoyama be a true hero is SO fitting with Toshi’s emergence as a hero (and Stain’s!!). Hori is so damn literal sometimes and I cannot get enough.

Haha, Toshi learning from Star and her mistakes! Another “student” of his, in a way. Makes me wonder if he does have other quirks/ideas in his back pocket. Yes yes, I know everyone thinks explosion is “the one” he hasn’t used, but just like AFO, we don’t actually know what Toshi has stored up in that suit (or what’s in Stain’s glider).

I tend to think explosion will be an internal/external finishing move to “burst” the AFO quirk out of any and all physical bodies.

Love how we all knew the laser at the end of the last chapter wasn’t a suicide shot. Of course All Might had a shield.

I’m screaming at the idea that AFO, obsessed with quirks and DNA and legacy and lineage, either stole or manufactured the glowing baby quirk to better manipulate every quirk that sprang forth from it. AFO is still dangerous even as a child because he has all his quirks and memories, and he may have more ability to manipulate than we’re led to believe.

TOSHI SAYING YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR THE HEAD LIKE MCU THANOS?!?!?? Wow, Hori is giving Toshi even MORE villain tropes.

AFO is reduced to a glowing child —an angelic cherub — while Toshi is this broken old man that looks like a villain hellbent on revenge. Then Stain (an actual serial killer) appears, paralyzes AFO, and tells Toshi to win. Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys???

The question is, will Toshi go for the kill? (Will Stain do it if Toshi won’t?) Toshi did go for the head in their first battle, after AFO pulled out his innards. But in Kamino, Toshi expressly rejected the notion that he would kill AFO (again). I don’t see Toshi doing it here either, especially since he referenced learning from Star, and trying to kill Shigaraki did nothing for Star. I think Toshi will try to keep AFO paralyzed/immobile and let AFO rewind himself out of existence, which AFO will see as a weakness to exploit.

There’s also still a vestige battle and Aizawa/Mic/Kurogiri out there, so Toshi and Stain might not be able keep AFO pinned.

That said, I’m very amused by the idea of Deku and Shigaraki slugging it out when a naked glowing toddler runs towards them.

cementoss: ok, so what we're going to do is we're going to take turns telling a story! one person starts it and the next person continues it.

aizawa: we'll go eldest to youngest. it'll start with bakugou and end with shouji.

cementoss: alright, bakugou, start us off.

bakugou: damn, uh, i was leaving my house, and my cousin slipped and busted her ass.

cementoss: okay! ojirou?

ojirou: she fell on a... raccoon? yeah. and so the main character fought the raccoon.

aizawa: that got derailed horribly. go ahead, aoyama.

aoyama: the raccoon pulled out a knife and stabbed the character.

aizawa:

cementoss, concerned: wonderful. uh, hagakure?

hagakure: the raccoon turned into a man and dragged the body into a ditch!

satou: ooh! and then raccoon man runs off with his girlfriend, who's actually the cousin.

kaminari: yeah!! and raccoon man found out the girlfriend was pregnant and killed her!

cementoss: this story has taken quite the turn. shinsou, would you like to try and save it?

shinsou: this story is not saveable, but i will make it worse. raccoon man has another girlfriend who is the main character's second cousin who ended up being pregnant with the neighbor's child.

aizawa: what the hell.

midoriya: and then there wassss alligator man! that's all i got.

sero: bet. alligator man went, and he revived the main character, and they teamed up and shit.

mina: then they went to go and find raccoon man and his girlfriend.

jirou: this story is so unhinged. uh, when they found raccoon man, raccoon guy, whatever, killed alligator man.

iida: good lord jesus. he then, uh, skinned alligator man and turned him into shoes?

mina: NOOOOOO!

tokoyami: bro got turned into a pair of kicks.

kirishima: damn, rip fr.

momo: how do i even build off of that!? well, i guess raccoon man got arrested for first degree murder.

kirishima: yeah and then he went to court to see if the baby was his or the neighbor's because he was suspicious.

shouji: i thought we already knew it wasn't his.

kirishima: but what if it is.

tokoyami: raccoon man couldn't attend the hearing in person because he was in jail, so he attended through a zoom meeting.

cementoss, who accepted this forever ago: beautiful.

uraraka: this is a lot of pressure. the zoom call kept going in and out? yeah, so raccoon man couldn't hear very well.

todoroki: now why the fuck would you leave this up to me.

sero: just be that bitch.

todoroki: ok, so the baby was in fact not his. *turns to kouda* you got this.

kouda: uhhh, i dunno, the girlfriend was very ashamed and killed the neighbor.

aizawa, now invested: in the courtroom?

kouda: mhm.

shinsou: damn, that wild.

tsuyu: and then the cops arrested her too and she was sentenced to life in jail.

shouji: i have the best ending actually.

cementoss: this whole story has been derailed, let’s hear the end.

shouji: there was a man lying on the couch with several alcohol bottles, and it was all a dream.

aizawa: that makes sense. only someone like that could have such a dream.

cementoss: this was a very interesting round. not sure if this is something we should do again. this got odd very quick.

anyway not to be all deep and all but the symbolism of Aoyama loosing his belt -- the very thing that he used to restrain and focus his power and fit into society -- at the 11th hour, and now he has to fight without the support that artificial support gave him (or the condemnation that accepting the belt came with) and now has to fight with his light spilling out of him, unrestrained and unrefined, is so much. He can no longer posture. He's messy and undignified and all of the least acceptable parts of himself are showing, but it's in this state that he will defeat Kunieda. It will be him, and a friend who has already seen all the ugliest sides of him -- all the sides that he tried to hide his whole life -- and chooses to fight beside him, and together they will harness his quirk (his individuality) in a way that has never been possible before. He never needed his parents to buy him acceptance into hero society. He never needed a fancy belt or a mask hide behind. He needed someone who would see him for who he is -- how brightly he can twinkle and how dimly his light can fade -- and will stand by him no matter what.
