Five years ago, I got to take my mom to Paris for her 80th birthday and I still love looking back at my sketchbook memories.

Ueno 🍇

Visited Ueno market and absolutely loved the vibes and seeing all the local produce. Went to a plum blossom festival at a local temple as well, and here was the only time I ate sushi in Japan 🐟 Ueno park was pretty and I can imagine how gorgeous it would be in full Spring 🪷

I think the best thing about keeping a travel journal is reading them years later and, because you took the time to sit in one place and paint, the memories are so much clearer than if you had just “snapped a photo” and left.

I can clearly remember the crowded plaza where I sketched the clock tower or the sun setting as I sat painting on the Grand Canal.

I wish I was a better traveler. But I’m happy I pushed myself to get out of the Hobbit Hole for this adventure.

The past couple of days have been filled with lots of reading, good food, and increasingly better weather. The sound of cicades plays in the backgroud continuously and I can feel my body slowly realxing as it should. After finishing Nona The Ninth, I read and fell in love with A Psalm For The Wild-Built. That little book brought me so much joy and peace, and I think it will stay at the back of my mind for a good while. At last yesterday I decided to pick up The Poppy War, and today only I read 150 pages. For some reason I was expecting to find some difficulties getting into the story, but I am glued to the pages, and I don't even realize how fast I am reading it.

Chill hobbit summer things of the last few days:

Drinking tea and eating raspberry jam in the morning sun

Reading at the beach while blasing music in my earphones

Listening to podcast as I color mandalas (I am caught up with re:dracula, and ethics town, and I also started and got caught up with the antiquarium of sinister happenings)

Enjoing good food

Keeping up with my daily practice of Irish on duolingo

01.02.24// managed to find a balance between all of my jobs and my phd routine and, so far, it works well :) i mean i'm still exhausted, but at least i have a routine!

ft. the cover of my seoul travel journal from my new year's trip - so happy with how it turned out (i made a separate post about it, but changed my mind afterwards lol). kind of considering making more journaling-themes posts in the future! also, i discovered this vegan bakery in my neighborhood and that gingerbread cake was so good!!
