S2 E11 Playthings - A classic, creepy girls in a creepy hotel. Special call out to Sam getting SLOPPY

S2 E16 Roadkill - There's a ghost haunting the highway. the Boys help the spirit move on. This is an early example of monster empathy

S2 E18 Hollywood Babylon - Dean loves hollywood. I love dean. this episode makes me kick my feet like a little girl and i will not defend myself.

S2 EP 20 What Was Shall Never Be - all I have in my notes for this one is "Dean Djinn Dream" which was enough for me to remember the episode and get misty eyes. This is SEASON 2 my son will never know peace.

S3 E5 Bedtime Stories -I had to check the wiki on this one, I think i liked it cause it referenced classic fairytales

I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS SCENE!

Alert spoilers from season 2

(remember though that this scene is a sort of dream of Will so what happens during it is not real in the show)

So- first of all let's talk about the stag and the wendigo because their meanings are really important to understand how deep this scene actually is.

The wendigo and the stag are seen multiple times in the show as hallucinations of Will and as you know they represent Hannibal. But here is the difference between them as they represent two different sides of Hannibal. Or more precisely the two faces of Hannibal that Will sees.

The wendigo is the violent, controlling, cannibalistic version. Basically the "psychopath" Hannibal. Everytime Will sees the wendigo it's in a situation where Hannibal seems to be his enemy, like during Will's trial (Will sees the wendigo instead of Hannibal when he goes to give his testimony because Hannibal is the one getting Will in this situation, he's the one framing him)

The wendigo is the one who betrays Will, the one Will wants to kill.

Then we have the stag. The stag is the complete opposite. He represents the loving, understanding, friendly Hannibal. The stag is the Hannibal that is on Will's side. Everytime Will sees the stag is when he feels he can trust him, like when he's in prison and Hannibal comes to see him (in those visits Hannibal expresses his want to get Will out of prison and prove his innocence.)

The stag is the one Will craves and loves, because he makes him feel understood.

Alright now that this is explained I can go on about the scene.

This moment takes part in season two, therefore during a time when Will knows about Hannibal and manipulates Hannibal to trick him and catch him. And the way he manipulates Hannibal is by using the love that Hannibal has for him, he acts like he's on his side and understands him and loves him leading to Hannibal letting his guards down.

He uses the stag against Hannibal himself ,he takes advantage of his feelings.

In the scene Hannibal is tied to a tree with a rope tied to the stag. So if the stag goes further away from the tree, the rope gets tighter causing Hannibal's death.

The stag being responsible of Hannibal's death or life represents the way Will uses this version of Hannibal to catch him.

It even goes further than this. Later, after Hannibal's speech* , Will whistles which gets the stag moving. So Will has power over the stag. Again, because he actually uses this version of Hannibal against him, he really has power over this part of Hannibal.

And when he gets it to move he kills Hannibal, representing how he betrays him.

But alright alright this scene shows how Will took control back and is full on manipulating Hannibal but don't worry the scene also shows his internal dilemma (Hannibal always has some control after all).

Hannibal is not the only one tied to the tree actually.

When there's this little speech it's Hannibal but when Will actually kills him it's not him anymore, instead it's the wendigo.

Why? Well because that's what Will actually wants to kill. Will loves Hannibal no matter how much he hurts him, how much he shouldn't. Because Hannibal understands him like no one does and as Will said himself "I've never know himself as well as I know myself when I'm with him"

So when he actually gets to the part of Hannibal's murder he imagines the wendigo instead of just Hannibal as he wants to kill the bad of Hannibal and not his love.

*The speech is a pure love confession to Will btw as he says loving someone is understanding them and vice versa. And if you understood the bare minimum of their relation then you know it's based on understanding each other and seeing each other so according to Hannibal's speech they love each other.

Alr I think that's all I have to say about this scene for now. I hope yall could understand it and that my English was not too bad either💀.

Here's a Braixen redesign I made months back asdfg-

asdfghj and now here's my thought process behind the design-

I gave it a simple redesign that stuck to the original fairly well. I just wished the original braixen leaned more into the Witch aspect rather than a pop girl. Made the ear fluff more horn like to match the old paintings of witches during the witch trials of women having horns, and made the design overall more sleek and narrow giving it the idea of sharpness along with a weird fire core gem thing in her chest to make her look more ~magical~ The legs are arms were made a bit longer and heftier from a slight wendigo/skinwalker inspiration to make her look like an uncanny magical creature. And changed the eyes with a more simple look because it's generally my style, but I feel like most of the..."interesting" drawings of braixen stem from how the eyes conveyed a certain emotion. And made the wand longer and sharper to make it feel more like a weapon rather than a random add on.

Had a dream I thought was cool, and was a rare case of my dream making sense, so I’m gonna post it here.

I was walking around with this group of people, in this orange-grey modern building, in the stairway. We were looking for doors. There was only one in the stairway, one of the group members, the one who’d asked me to help the group find it, got really exited and went over to it. I don’t remember exactly what he said but it was something about how we can’t possibly expect what’s inside the task. How sometimes he’s gone into these places and there’s been no oxygen, or there’s been an entire room on fire.

He has a beard and the eyes of someone who has faced death too many times, he is quite clearly unwell, but he opens the door and we all follow him. We enter into a dilapidated sort of outdoor stadium looking thing, four sides of concrete slab seats, each with a single door like ours at the top row, surrounding a massive raised pool with a table with some stuff in the middle. The table and stuff looked kind of like a still life. The distance between the sides was such that I barely could see the other side, and if there were people I couldn’t see them. On all of the seats there laid skeletons, wearing tattered clothes, holding sodas and popcorn buckets, all seemingly died simultaneously and without struggle, all just slumped over in their chair. Despite this, it looks, feels, and smells like an autumn afternoon. There is a small plastic table on front of us where there lay several small paper bowls filled with a sort of corn and grain bowl. The bearded man says he has been in this one before, not disappointed but instead suddenly anxious and on-guard. He instructs us all to grab some food and take our seat. I do so, finding a seat amongst the corpses of the crowd, and the bearded man tells us to “play dead, like them” referencing the crowd. I try my best to do so while still sneaking bites from the food I took. It is fairly delicious, but basic, with little complexity to the flavor besides some lime juice, salt, and cilantro.

I hear someone loudly whisper “stop!” And I immediately go back to playing dead, slumping over and closing my eyes. I do this for an unknown amount of time. I think about whether this is truly a trial at all or if this is some separate entity, a “cosmic coincidence” I specifically think. Then I hear something, far away, so I open my eyes. Since this dream already seems like bad house of leaves fanfiction I might as well just refer to it as the Minotaur. The Minotaur is large, but very lanky. Through my half closed eyes I can make out it’s form, walking among the stands on the left face of the stadium. It is about 12-14 feet tall and is covered in grey fur. It looks quite similar to modern depictions of wendigo, but the upper torso is bulbous, nearly a circle atop this tower of stick and bone. It’s head is almost sunken into its torso, like the head of an echidna, with a long, fanged snout jutting out. It’s eyes, from what I could see, were two small spheres on either end of the mouth which shifted through monotone colors. It seems to have entered the trial silently after a certain amount of time. I do not know how long he’s been there or if he came through the doors at all. As I said, it was searching though the crowd, likely for players. I tried to find if there were any people that were alive in that section, but it was so far away and my eyes were still mostly closed, I couldn’t tell the living from the dead. I started sweating, thinking our group was the only one that entered, that he’d find his way over to me eventually, but then the Minotaur stopped and looked at a seat next to him and, with unnatural speed and power, snapped up a living player in its jaws, lifting him up, making many chomps to loosen up his meal and break its bones, then ate his entire meal whole, the bloody mass of my fellow player sliding down his mouth and into the great form which stood victorious. Blood littered a significant portion of that part of the stands, the dark red staining the crumbling, mossy concrete and corpses long since deceased.

The Minotaur produces a shrill shout, which lasts for nearly a minute. I almost lose my nerve, I only remember sitting a few rows away from the door, I could have a decent chance if I make a break for it. This is proven incorrect when the Minotaur stops his howl, and pounces into the set of stands I’m in, moving faster than my eyes could track him. He does not kill anyone, he instead looks for the door that’s on this side and, when he finds it, he leaves, twisting and breaking his body to fit through, leaving audible cracks and snaps. He does leave quickly, however, and the door closes behind him.

The tension I, and probably the other people were feeling left as soon as that door closed. I remember being told that they never come back through once they’ve left. I stand up, dropping my food, and start to walk to the door. A skeleton moves as I pass him, grabbing my arm tightly. It is not a skeleton, but the bearded man. He tells me to wait, and I do, because I now remember that the Minotaur left the same way we came in. I sit back down and wait for an indeterminate amount of time. After some time I leave through the door. Some follow me, others don’t, when I leave I’m back in the stairwell where I began and I start to go down the stairs to go back home. I have completed this trial, yet I am still anxious for my next one, when it eventually comes. I wake up after walking down a few floors.

Was gonna turn this into sorta a short story thingie but don’t have the time to write rn, also I have no idea how this website works so sorry if dreamposting is frowned upon here.

Arknights Chapter XI - Return To Mist

So... Chapter Eleven is at its end and because I am desperate to have enough Originium I need to go through as many chapters in Adverse level as I can so this terrible Clown Fiesta of a skinset coming out tomorrow would be mine.

And conveniently enough, Dr. Kryo is here to help me out.

I have had this woman ever since I started playing, and I have spent all this time almost not reading anything about her. My lass was in Kazimierz, she's here in Victoria with us now, she's a follower of the wendigo, a witch... and I still gape at the mention of her actual relations and experience.

Me: "I don't know which one is worse, a level where the enemies are only three 'No Data' boxes, or the levels where there are three rows of them." Pinkie: "Hey, but you get to find out for yourself, right? It's the fun part of it. Trial and error." Me: "I don't want trial and error..." ---

Me: "What was the Steam Knight music called again?" Pinkie: "You don't need to know." Kryo: "Sexy Vampire music." Pinkie: "Damn it... It's Vampire Sex Music." Me: "Reverse-psychologises you into telling us the name because you think we got it wrong and you always need to be right." Pinkie: "... How dare you."

Until Dawn in Dead By Daylight concept

-the main survivors would be Sam and Mike, the secondary survivors (like Claire and Chris Redfield) would be Emily and Chris

-Sam/Emily perks:

·a perk that helps the player hide from the killer easier (perk icon could be her headlamp)

·some form of perseverance perk (perk icon could be the baseball bat)

·a perk where you need the help after being hooked twice (ie being chased, need healing, ect) you can alert the survivor with the least amount of hooks/best health state. can only be used once per trial. (perk icon could be the radio from the firetower)

-Emily's outfit would be the grey turtleneck, black coat, and black jeans

-Sam outfits:

·her black leather jacket, purple shirt, red skirt, and black leggings

·her maroon sweater, dark blue jeans, and pink boots

·her red hoodie, white leggings, and headlamp (would be her main outfit)

-Mike/Chris perks

·some form of guidance perk (ie to a generator/totem/chest or away from the killer) (perk icon could be the wolf)

·a perk that helps with making tough decisions (ie which direction to take during a chase or which survivor to unhook if multiple are hooked at once) (perk icon could be the lever to Josh's first trap, the gun in Josh's second trap, or the gun Mike uses on Emily)

·a perk where if you're injured after being hooked twice and take a protection hit for someone you won't be downed and/or the survivor being protected gets a short speed boost (perk icon could be the lighter or the broken lightbulb)

-Chris's outfit would be his white shirt, green sweater, blue coat, and jeans

-Mike's outfits:

·his plaid shirt, blue vest, and jeans

·his green jacket, white shirt, and jeans (would be his main outfit)

·his white tank top and jeans

-when mike gets to the third prestige and has the entire bloody outfit, he would be missing his fingers

-the main killer would be wendigo Hannah and the secondary killer (like chatterer) would the wendigo from the sanatoriums

-the chase music would be a more extreme instrumental version of "o death"

-unlike in until dawn, the wendigo would be able to see normally

-after stalking someone for a certain amount of time (probably longer than Michael or Danny) you gain the ability to jump off/climb certain areas of buildings/objects for a short time. during this time your vision switches to how the wendigo's vision is in until dawn

-the add-on icons could be Mike's fingers, the locket, the journal, Beth's head, a danger or death totem, Beth's cross, the old man's head, and/or the camera from the 'prank'

-there would be four variations of the map:

·The Washington house and the tunnel to the sanatorium. the basement would either be in the tunnel or in the basement of the house

·The Sanatorium and the path Mike took to the mines. the basement would either be in one of the small caged rooms or where the elevator is on the mine path. you would be able to hear wolves howling like you can hear zombies and the helicopter in rpd

·the Mines. the basements would either be where Hannah's journal was found or where Beth's head was found. the man with the flamethrower's body would be hanging in the nest

·The Cabin, the Barn, and the Firetower. the basement would either be in the barn or the cabin. you would be able to hear the elk's cries

Doc Samson Synopsis

A synopsis for my Doc Samson Disney+ series idea Notes: -If anyone has any ideas regarding casting, please post them in the comments. -This takes place at the same time as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (assuming you are willing to consider that show to be MCU canon).

Episode 1: Leonard Samson is called to testify in the trial of Tony Masterson, accused of murdering several people who supported the repeal of the Sokovia Accords. During Samson’s testimony, however, Masterson uses a supposedly unarmed gun to shoot him, along with security guard Craig Saunders, defense attorney Diane Davids, prosecutor Kyle Barker, and NYPD officer Benjamin Tibbets before he is shot and killed by NYPD detective Clay Quartermain. Samson is rushed to the hospital, where Dr. Angela Lipscombe unwittingly gives him blood synthesized from that of Bruce Banner. As a result, Samson is turned into a green-haired superhuman with greatly enhanced strength. Quartermain meets with Samson and Angela to discuss the shooting, and the three decide to work together to solve the mystery.

Mid-Credits Scene: General John Ryker visits Philip Sterns in prison, and offers him a way to take revenge on the man who put him in there.

Episode 2: While going over his sessions with Masterson, Samson discovers that Saunders was present each time, and that he gave Masterson orders on behalf of an unidentified source telling him to kill Samson, Davids, and Barker. Further investigation reveals that the gun Masterson used was armed by a woman impersonating a court clerk, and the same woman also disguised herself as a nurse and swapped a regular blood bag with the gamma-irradiated blood that Samson received. A gamma-mutated Sterns, calling himself Madman, goes on a rampage, only to be fought and defeated by Samson. Quartermain, believing there is a connection to Bruce Banner’s work, calls in ESU physics professor Dr. Walter Langowski and his teacher’s aide Delilah ‘Dee Dee’ Dearborn to help.

Mid-Credits Scene: Samson works on adapting to his new strength.

Episode 3: Quartermain arranges a meeting with Michael Berengetti, a retired mobster who claims to have information about the victims. Berengetti reveals that he was contacted about making sure Davids (who normally took mob-related cases) would be Masterson’s defense attorney, but before he can say who asked him to do so, he is killed by two of his underlings Jessie Harrison and Louis Lembert, both of whom have received gamma-derived powers. Samson, Quartermain, and Dee Dee are able to subdue Harrison and Lembert, and the two confess they were convinced to betray Berengetti by Dr. Karla Sofen, who is identified as the woman impersonating the court clerk and nurse.

Mid-Credits Scene: Sofen makes a recording in which she describes several “experiments” she conducted, including psychologically manipulating convicted criminal Lloyd Bloch into giving her an unusual gem he stole, which she refers to as a Moonstone.

Episode 4: Continuing their investigation into Saunders and Davids, the group finds out the former was involved in the same mission to capture Banner that led to Emil Blonsky becoming Enhanced. Samson recalls his part in the events leading up to the fight in Harlem, and the group discusses Ross’s potential involvement. A former colleague of Langowski arrives in New York and tries to kill him, taking on the form of the Wendigo to do so, but is stopped by Samson with aid from Langowski and Dee Dee. Though it is determined that Ross was not part of the conspiracy, it is revealed that Ryker was also involved with the project that created the Hulk and that he has similar ambitions to create super soldiers.

Mid-Credits Scene: Sofen decides that Ryker is getting in the way of her plans, and decides to get rid of him.

Episode 5: In order to make sure there are no loose ends, Samson and Quartermain go over footage from Masterson’s visits, and learn that Davids gave him the order to kill Saunders on Ryker’s behalf. The group accompanies the police to arrest Ryker, but are ambushed by the electrical monster Zzzax, and are forced to take it down. Meanwhile, Ryker confronts Sofen and accuses her of having her own agenda. Sofen fatally shoots Ryker, leaving behind enough evidence to expose his part in the conspiracy and other illicit activities before fleeing.

Mid-Credits Scene: The FBI is contacted about Ryker and Sofen, with instructions to not allow the Department of Damage Control to interfere, as a number of their higher-ranking staff are are under investigation for abuse of power, brutality, corruption, and/or similar crimes.

Episode 6: No longer held back by Ryker, Sofen bonds with the Moonstone and abducts Langowski and Dee Dee. Samson, Quartermain, and Angela rescue them, though not before both are exposed to gamma radiation. An enraged Sofen goes on a rampage, but is stopped by Samson, as the latter fully embraces his Enhanced status, and Sofen is taken into custody. During the following celebration, Samson calls Bruce to say hello and ask if he’d like to join him in catching up with Betty.

Post-Credits Scene 1: Samson and Dee Dee discuss what they’re going to do now that they are Enhanced, and Dee Dee reveals that she had an ulterior motive for meeting Samson—she suspects that the two of them have the same father.

Post-Credits Scene 2: Langowski, now possessing the ability to transform into a superstrong beast he calls Sasquatch, receives a call asking him to return to Canada and join a new team being formed there. He rudely declines.

this really makes me laugh because i've struggled with cas on this show a lot! they're always trying to convince me that he's all tight with dean but they never show it! haha anyway. nothing needs to make sense, he's paving the way to hell with good intentions and the fan fave

this scene with him coughing up blood again, just reminds me of how i was always vaguely confused as to how the trials made him sick because it seemed like a set of strange issues. it wasn't clear in what i read always if time in the bathroom was from stomach thing or coughing up blood thing. but i see now the food/nausea elements combined with the consumption. i mean. does he have heavenly tuberculosis?

DEAN Well, short story is, uh, Sammy there is gonna take whatever shredded your friend and every other black-eyed bitch out there, and he's gonna get rid of them for good. FATHER SIMON He is? i often feel similarly. this attempt at shopping and him being clueless and awful is something

seeing cas interact with metatron kind of highlights to me how particular of a character they're having cas portray. it's not like all angels have this quite flat affect and clueless about humans thing.. and cas didn't always either (he was really bitingly snarky there for bits which doesn't really line up with whatever lack of abilities in pretending to be a person thing is happening now) but after all the brain scrubs who has room for personality retention, right?

So, from here on, I'm gonna keep everything hell-related – demons, et cetera – away from you. Safe side and all that – plus, I just thought it seemed fitting. From what I understand, Sammy took that bird's breath away. What's the line? "Saving people, hunting things – the family business." Well, I think the people you save, they're how you justify your pathetic little lives. The alcoholism, the collateral damage, the pain you've caused – the one thing that allows you to sleep at night, the one thing is knowing that these folks are out there, still out there happy and healthy because of you, you great, big, bloody heroes!

3x15: Time Is on My Side

Plot Synopsis:

Sam and Dean discover a doctor who, back in 1816, became obsessed with finding the secret of eternal life by taking people's vital organs. Meanwhile, Bobby finds Bela and Dean leaves Sam to confront her.

Features:

Organ theft, some pre-season 4 demon torture, Doc Benton, chasing immortality, Rufus’ introduction, Sam hunting alone, Bela’s backstory, the maintenance of eternal life, Sam’s eyes almost getting scooped out, the Ma’lak box precursor, Bela's deal coming due.

My Thoughts:

I forgot about the monster plot of this episode and I was initially so annoyed that they were doing a monster of the week episode right before Dean’s deal came due. Honestly having the A-plot be an immoral immortality plot is perfect and really showcases the differences between Sam and Dean’s ethics in an interesting way. Dean is very black and white when it comes to what makes a monster, whereas Sam lives more in the grey and is able to see nuance. Dean’s problem with letting Doc Benton teach him the formula isn’t that it would be letting the Doc get away with it - it’s that it would turn him into a monster, whereas we know that Sam has felt unclean and monstrous his entire life anyways. 

Watching Dean’s scene with Rufus is kind of depressing post-series-finale. All of Rufus’ pessimism comes true. 

The thing I’m most salty about right now is that Bela never came back as a demon. They’ve already set up that that’s what’s going to happen to Dean, so we know it will happen to her, and Dean literally said “I’ll see you in hell” to her. What a missed opportunity.

“Even if you manage to scrape out of this one, there's just gonna be something else down the road. Folks like us...there ain't no happy ending. We all got it coming.”

Plot Synopsis:

Sam and Dean try to figure out how to cure a demon. Crowley starts killing victims that Sam and Dean have saved from previous jobs. Castiel and Metatron begin the trials to close the gates to Heaven.

Features:

Tommy from Wendigo, Dean giving Cas the silent treatment, the discovery of the Bunker’s dungeon, weird with three exclamation points, Cas’ shopping trip, how to kill a demon, a Nephilim I completely forgot about, Handy Annie, Jenny from Shut Up Dr Phil,  Sarah Blake from Provenance, Sam’s martyr complex getting the fuel it needs.

My Thoughts:

I didn’t remember much about this episode except for Sarah Blake (I really thought I remembered her living though), but this is a great episode! Crowley is really an excellent villain in this, he makes everything so personal and that makes the stakes way higher. In contrast, Abaddon has a great aesthetic, but her motives are too generically evil to make her a good villain. The only real qualm I have with this episode is that it makes no sense as an excuse to bring her back. Cutting her up and burying her in separate pieces was such a cool way to deal with a monster that they couldn’t kill that it’s a shame to bring her back to be unceremoniously stabbed by a new, stronger knife. Also, they should have summoned a weaker demon to cure. They already know that Abaddon is way stronger than the average demon, it’s way too big a swing for their first demon cure. Society if Meg or Ruby had been alive to be cured. 

The pacing is kind of weird with the Heaven trials, although I’m not sure there’s a way around that - if we met Metatron earlier it would mess up the timing of the Hell trials. It’s so weird to remember that there was briefly a Nephilim. I wish the moral dilemma of killing her had been explored more - as foreshadowing that the Heaven trials are not as straightforwardly righteous as they seem at first glance. 

Cas and Dean’s argument in this episode is honestly so understandable and human, something I feel like we can’t say 90% of the time that they’re fighting. Dean is hurt after having been vulnerable and it blowing up in his face. The last time they spoke he told Cas he needed him, and now he’s telling Cas he doesn’t, so Cas feels like he’s worthless because he can’t help. Also insanely brutal to watch this fight where Dean says Cas always thinks he’s doing the right thing immediately after watching The Man Who Would Be King.

Notable Lines:

“Dean, I thought I was doing the right thing.” “Yeah, you always do.”

“If anybody else – I mean anybody – pulled that kind of crap, I would stab them in their neck on principle. Why should I give him a free pass?” “Because it’s Cas.”

“You don’t understand. I NEED pie.”

“There was a time when I thought I could lead our people, but I was mistaken. I spilled so much blood. And I've tried to atone for my sins and I did penance. And I betrayed my friends to protect our secrets, but I've just failed.”

“I think the people you save, they're how you justify your pathetic little lives. The alcoholism, the collateral damage, the pain you've caused – the one thing that allows you to sleep at night, the one thing is knowing that these folks are out there, still out there happy and healthy because of you, you great, big, bloody heroes!”

So here is a few ideas for my card that will have my drawing of my wendigo on it. The idea is a want to have lore on how the monster came to be and stats to show how strong he is. I’ve also decided to do bars instead of numbers as I wanted to fill the card and I just like how bars for health, stamina, strength etc. But feel like I might take of the side bit for his main attacks as I want to make 2 separate card that show the attacks up close the say what the attack does. In my option I think this is the best option as it won’t make me cram everything into just on card and I can have multiple. I also would like to say I was doing a hero card but decided to stop as I didn’t have time. I’ve went and done full focus on the monster as I’ve done more trials for him than the hero.

Tylvinian Tales: Side Stories - Zephyr's Unexpected Guest

Zephyr sighed, a hollow and wispy sound, and turned onto his right side to face the room. He had felt a strange sensation on his back and more often than not it was a sign he was needed. Looking into the darkness of his bedroom, his eyes saw through the shadows easily. His kind were nocturnal as is, and he wasn't one of the rare few who tried to fight that nature to stay in sync with the rest of the world. His feeling had woken him up, and rightly so. A young lynx boy was standing before him, dressed in a very ragged looking pair of jeans and a torn up shirt. Judging by his nervous expression, he was new to his state of being.

The wendigo gave him the closest thing he could to a kind smile, raising up and gesturing for the boy to turn around and wait a moment. The boy nodded, and Zephyr stood. He always slept in his boxers for this very reason, but he still felt it polite to dress properly in the presence of the dead. Quickly clothing himself in a bathrobe, he let out a few small clicks by tapping his teeth together. It caught the boys attention and he lay a hand on the child's shoulder, guiding him out of the bedroom and down the hall to the kitchen. He knew what the boy needed. While the dead can't feel exhaustion, or even tiredness, they can sleep if they choose. And this boy needed sleep to let his mind adjust to his new reality.

Pouring a glass of water, he grabbed a straw from a nearby drawer and put it into the water. While he knew the boy would be unable to hold the glass, he had seen the dead make use of more malleable things before, and hoped that the sensation of drinking water would be enough for the child, even if he didn't get anything out of it. He placed the glass on the coffee table of his living room and sat on the couch, gesturing to the cup. The boy looked to him curiously, and then to the glass before trying to pick it up. The cup shifted an inch or two and stopped. Zephyr was surprised at the power this boy held.

Normally it took spirits years to learn to manipulate solid objects like glass. If this boy was already moving the cup with mere hours of experience, he would likely become a poltergeist sooner or later. Zephyr felt a pang of sadness run through his heart. Some spirits were capable of speech, the older ones that had more time than most. He'd learned over the years that children rarely lingered in this world. The dead were judged by the overgod himself, and to be cast back down rather than accepted into an afterlife, or reincarnated, were often in some form of deep trouble with the gods.

It made him wonder what about the children he'd seen had cost them their eternal peace. Was it simply childish whimsy calling them back to earth, or was the overgod simply enjoying their endless separation from their families? Either way, it left a pit in his stomach. Reaching for the glass, he looked to the boy and pointed to the straw before sitting back again. This time, the boy leaned over the cup, his lips meeting the straw. Seconds went by, the boy trying to draw water from the cup, before finally he did. He drank gratefully until he was done. Zephyr made no effort to point out that the water had simply passed through him and onto the floor. It was only water, it would do no harm to the carpet.

Standing, he held his hand out. The boy took it with a smile on his face. Zephyr let out a friendly whine, and the boy giggled silently. He would need decades to learn to speak through the veil. The wendigo led the boy to the upstairs bedroom, a guest room he had converted into as generic a bedroom as he could, something that focused on comfort over design. Sitting on the bed, he pat the space beside him. The boy hopped up onto the bed, surprising himself with his inability to phase through it. Zephyr had taken careful precautions to ensure this bed was as solid, but as soft, for the dead as it was for him. That had taken quite a bit of research, trial, and error.

He'd eventually found a priest willing to help him, and together they had blessed several of the objects in his home. Namely, the bed in the guest room, the first and second floors, the stairs, and the fridge. The fridge had come later, after he learned that spirits passing through food often led to early spoilage. The blessings had the effect of rendering the objects solid for spirits, no different to them than they were to the living. It allowed them to rest, should they choose, and prevented them from falling through the second floor. He had requested blessing the first floor as a precaution rather than necessity, but was nonetheless grateful it had been done.

The boy lay on the bed and Zephyr leaned over him, nuzzling his forehead gently with the end of his skullish snout. The boy laughed silently, and nestled in under the blankets. It was clear he hadn't expected such comforts, but Zephyr would never deny the dead any comfort he could provide. He would look into this boy's death that night, learn who he was and where he'd come from, to try and help him find his way home. But for now, the wendigo needed sleep. The blackout curtains made it seem as though it were night but he knew better. Standing upright, he reached for a CD player beside the bed on a nightstand. Pressing play, it began to read children's stories. He had a few players like this, some with music, some with stories. The boy smiled again, closing his eyes and turning to sleep on his side.

Zephyr's eyes glowed dimly, brightening a little at the sight of the boy sleeping comfortably. He turned, leaving the boy to his dreams. As he made his way to the stairs, he saw a young woman, a lynx like the boy, looking to him gratefully. She mouthed words to him, trying to speak slowly so he could read her lips. "Thank you. He was so afraid..." He looked back towards the guest room, then back to the woman. He pointed to her, then made a cradling motion. The woman shook her head and smiled. "I was once, but not his."

She turned away, passing through the wall of his home and leaving him to wonder who she was. She was no ancient spirit, he couldn't hear her. Only read her lips. But she was kind, and caring, to have helped the boy. Zephyr felt happy, knowing he had a reputation among the dead as one who they could turn to. Finishing his trip back to his bedroom, he disrobed and lay the garment beside the bed in case he needed it again.

Laying down, he thought of the boy and the woman who had led him here. As his eyes faded, their glow dimming in the darkness until nothing but blackness remained, he fell to the comfortable coldness of sleep, dreams of a world without death filling his head as he rested.
