Is Joe Rogan alt-right? He professes to be left leaning… Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard were guests on his podcast?
Joe Rogan is pretty ideologically incoherent but overall leans to the right - he endorsed Ron Paul in 2012, and both Gabbard and Sanders in 2020, then said that he was a Trump over Biden voter, and then voted for the Libertarian Party nominee in the general in 2020 the same that he did in 2016, he likes Ron DeSantis and hates Justin Trudeau, and he urged people to vote Republican in the 2022 midterms. (Incidentally, I wouldn't use Tulsi Gabbard as evidence of being left-leaning.)
I wouldn't say that he's alt-right per se - they tend to be more ideologically coherent - but that he overlaps with them on some issues (doesn't like "woke" people, isn't down with trans people, has a tendency to use racial slurs and sterotypes, etc.) and that he shares their affinity for conspiracy theories that makes his show permeable to their online ecosystem in the same way that the same stuff goes from 4chan to Breitbart to Fox.

Biden Admin Releases Ambitious Strategy To Fight Antisemitism
The Biden Administration has released its long-awaited document outlining an ambitious national strategy to combat antisemitism. "This strategy," the document concludes, "represents the most comprehensive and ambitious effort to counter antisemitism in American history."
Mostly, I want to give immense praise to the Biden administration for putting this document together -- not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. It is no revelation to say that many Jews sometimes feel like the fight against antisemitism is an afterthought -- a fact that document acknowledges expressly ("One  report found that 91% of Americans believe antisemitism is a problem for everyone, and yet, in  many instances, Jews feel as though antisemitism is ignored, discounted, or not taken as  seriously as other forms of hate and bigotry."). With this strategy plan, the Biden administration is taking Jewish concerns seriously in a way that no other administration has. It has my thanks for that.
Given the discourse of the past few days, one might expect that I'd want to focus on the inclusion of the "Nexus" antisemitism definition in the document text. Several commentators, insisting on a fundamentalist version of sola IHRA scriptura, tried to curtail this inclusion by insisting that any discussion on antisemitism that goes beyond IHRA will necessarily be diluted or "confusing".
The snarky part of me wants to extend my sincere condolences to these critics, given that final document is 60 pages long, virtually all of which comprising of words other than "IHRA". Turns out, there were more things to say. More to the point, here is the sum total of the document's treatment of this roiling controversy:
There are several definitions of antisemitism, which serve as valuable tools to raise awareness and increase understanding of antisemitism. The most prominent is the non-legally binding “working definition” of antisemitism adopted in 2016 by the 31-member states of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), which the United States has embraced. In addition, the Administration welcomes and appreciates the Nexus Document and notes other such efforts.
That's what we've been obsessing over? Seriously? An unadorned mention, following the document's "embrace" of the IHRA definition, that it also "welcomes and appreciates" Nexus?
I will say that, in the veiled language of diplomacy, this is quite the swipe against JDA. The document "embraces" IHRA. It "welcomes and appreciates" Nexus. And as for other, unnamed definitions? Yes, we note their existence. It's kind of like how I described the 2020 Democratic primary: "There are many great candidates running for the Democratic nomination, and also Tulsi Gabbard."
But that's me being petty again. I'll just one of other thing here. In the paragraph before the one I just quoted, the document describes antisemitism as follows:
Antisemitism is a stereotypical and negative perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred of Jews. It is prejudice, bias, hostility, discrimination, or violence against Jews for being Jews or Jewish institutions or property for being Jewish or perceived as Jewish. Antisemitism can manifest as a form of racial, religious, national origin, and/or ethnic discrimination, bias, or hatred; or, a combination thereof. However, antisemitism is not simply a form of prejudice or hate. It is also a pernicious conspiracy theory that often features myths about Jewish power and control.
The first sentence of this is clearly adopted from IHRA, albeit modified -- IHRA says that "Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews." The Biden administration's formulation is clearly better (what is a "certain perception"), which already demonstrates that blind adherence to IHRA's text is neither necessary nor desirable.
But the following sentences go beyond anything in IHRA. Discussing antisemitism as not just a perception, but also discrimination and other actions, is closer to the language one finds in the Nexus definition: "Antisemitism consists of anti-Jewish beliefs, attitudes, actions or systemic conditions."
When you look at the above paragraph, and the portions that go beyond that first sentence, are you "confused"? Does it feel "diluted" or "counterfeit"? No. The inclusion of those iterations of antisemitism make the document stronger, not weaker.
IHRA is an important and valuable component of the national antisemitism strategy. But it couldn't shoulder the burden alone. Fortunately, it didn't need to. IHRA and Nexus are strogner together. And while I sincerely hope that this "debate" fades into the far, far periphery of future discussion over this document, for now the Biden administration deserves tremendous praise for understanding that the fight against antisemitism is too important to leave tools on the table.

The Evolution of Madhubani Art Over Time
Tumblr media
Madhubani art (also Mithila art) is a style of painting practiced in the Mithila region of India and Nepal. It is named after the Madhubani district of Bihar, India, which is where it originated. Artists create these paintings using a variety of mediums, including their own fingers, or twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchstick. The paint is created using natural dyes and pigments. The paintings are characterized by their eye-catching geometrical patterns. There is ritual content for particular occasions, such as birth or marriage, and festivals, such as Holi, Surya Shasti, Kali Puja, Upanayana, and Durga Puja.
Madhubani painting (or Mithila painting) was traditionally created by the women of various communities in the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. It originated from Madhubani district of the Mithila region of Bihar. Madhubani is also a major export center of these paintings.
This painting as a form of wall art was practiced widely throughout the region; the more recent development of painting on paper and canvas mainly originated among the villages around Madhubani, and it is these latter developments that led to the term “Madhubani art” being used alongside “Mithila Painting.”
Mithila paintings mostly depict people and their association with nature and scenes and deities from the ancient epics. Natural objects like the sun, the moon, and religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted, along with scenes from the royal court and social events like weddings. In this paintings generally, no space is left empty; the gaps are filled by paintings of flowers, animals, birds, and even geometric designs.[citation needed] Traditionally, painting was one of the skills that was passed down from generation to generation in the families of the Mithila Region, mainly by women .
It is still practiced and kept alive in institutions spread across the Mithila region. Asha Jha of Madhubanipaints in Darbhanga,
Vaidehi in Madhubani, Benipatti in Madhubani district and Gram Vikas Parishad in Ranti are some of the major centres of Madhubani painting which have kept this ancient art form alive.
Contributions:
The Madhubani painting tradition played a key role in the conservation efforts in India in 2012, where there was frequent deforestation in the state of Bihar. Shashthi Nath Jha, who runs the Gram Vikas Parishad, an NGO, started the initiative as an attempt to protect local trees that were being cut down in the name of expanding roads and development. The main reason behind this was that the trees were traditionally adorned with forms of gods and other religious and spiritual images such as those of Radha-Krishna, Rama-Sita, scenes from Ramayana and Mahabharata and other mythologies.
Darbhanga MP Gopal Jee Thakur started the tradition of honouring people with Mithila Painting in Indian Politics.
Awards:
Madhubani painting received official recognition in 1969 when Sita Devi received the State award by Government of Bihar. Mamta Devi from the village Jitwarpur has also got National Award. Jagdamba Devi from Bhajparaul, Madhubani was given Padma Shri in 1975 and the National Award to Sita Devi of Jitwarpur village near Madhubani.
Jagdamba Devi’s foster son Satya Narayan Lal Karn and his wife Moti Karn are also well-regarded Mithila artists, and they won the National Award jointly in 2003. Sita Devi received the Padma Shri in 1981. Sita Devi was also awarded by Bihar Ratna in 1984 and Shilp Guru in 2006.
In 1984 Ganga Devi was awarded by Padma Shri. Mahasundari Devi received the Padma Shri in 2011. Baua Devi, Yamuna Devi, Shanti Devi, Chano Devi, Bindeshwari Devi, Chandrakala Devi, Shashi kala Devi, Leela Devi, Godavari Dutta, Asha Jha and Bharti Dayal were also given the National award.
Chandrabhushan (Rasidpur), Ambika Devi (Rasidpur), Manisha Jha were also given the National award.[citation needed] In 2020, Madhubani artist Dulari Devi won the Padma Shri for contributions to art.
Styles:
Mithila art has five distinctive styles:
Bharni
Katchni
Tantrik
Godna
Kohbar
In the 1960s Bharni, and Tantrik styles were mainly done by Brahman women in India and Nepal. Their themes were mainly religious and they depicted Gods and Goddesses paintings. People of other castes included aspects of their daily life and symbols, the story of Raja Shailesh (guard of the village) and much more, in their paintings. Nowadays Madhubani art has become a globalised art form, so there is no difference in the work on the basis of the caste system. They work in all five styles. Mithila art has received worldwide attention.
The paintings were traditionally done on freshly plastered mud walls and floors of huts, but now they are also done on cloth, handmade paper and canvas.
Madhubani paintings are made from the paste of powdered rice. Madhubani painting has remained confined to a compact geographical area and the skills have been passed on through centuries, the content and the style have largely remained the same. Thus, Madhubani painting has received GI (Geographical Indication) status. Madhubani paintings use two-dimensional imagery, and the colors used are derived from plants. Ochre, Lampblack and Red are used for reddish-brown and black, respectively.

I spent a lot of time between 2016 and early 2020 on a on-line space for talking politics and for whatever reason trans women were over represented in our demographic. And to a woman they were all tankies or Bernie bros who you know were walking toward Tankie-dom, it started in 2016 with them being aggressively dismissive of anything Hillary had done for LGBT rights because "she was against gay marriage once!" and it was so interesting to tell them about how Hillary had changed passport rules to allow trans people to change their sex marker more easily and have them all go "wow thats huge! wow!" for one day, and then the next day saying shit about Bernie being the most "pro-trans candidate ever"
the break point for me was how gun-ho a number of them were for Tulsi, even after her old "gay marriage is like sex with dogs" TV ad came out they took her "apology" and were all like "well it was a long time ago, people evolve, Obama and Hillary were against gay marriage at the time too" this paired with the relentless pushing of "Kamala Harris hates trans people and trolls the streets at night to beat homeless trans women of color with her cop nightstick!" was the end for me
I'm tempted to duck my head in and see how many are talking about Ukraine as a Jewish conspiracy or whatever. I just always found it so strange that all the hard tankies and leftists dickheads were also trans women, I assumed it was a something weird about us till I got on twitter and found a lot of trans flag tankies, no idea what its about
I think it's a combination of things involving an overcompensation in rejecting capitalism and liberalism and their cisheterocorporatistic standards, a complete distortion and misunderstanding of communist and socialist practice and history, the inherent edgelordism involved with all of that, a sense of the radical and militant elements of lgbtq history, and the inevitable sucking into that pipeline. Along with maybe a few false flags.
I'm just glad I'm not like that and stand counter to it.

The Trumpy Derby.
Tumblr media
February 9, 2023
The hottest competition among Republicans currently is not for the 2024 presidential nomination. So far, the only declared candidate is Donald Trump, who announced in November hoping to freeze the field. No, the most riveting contest is over who will be Trump's vice-presidential running mate. It sure won't be his former veep, Mike Pence (pictured above receiving Mafia kiss of death), who was proclaimed MAGA non grata when he refused to violate the Constitution and install loser Trump as president in 2021.
Instead, many believe Trump will attempt to ease his numerous woman problems (he won only 44% of the female vote in 2020) by picking one to run with him 2024. But there are three things anyone wishing to be Trump's VP choice absolutely must do: 1) repeatedly claim Trump won the 2020 election, 2) look the part, and 3) praise him endlessly and effusively. With that in mind, let's handicap the fillies in the race.
One individual who fits the bill right down to her high-heeled pumps is failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake. Lake built her entire candidacy on election denialism (√), looks good on TV (√), and even traveled to Mar-a-Lago to fawn over him in person (√). Many consider her the current front runner. Odds: 5/2
But don't count out Georgia's Marjorie Taylor Greene. One former Greene adviser told NBC News that her "whole vision is to be vice president." Which is why she backed Trump ally Kevin McCarthy in the speakership squabble and has been raising her profile as an obnoxious MAGA loudmouth. Odds: 4/1
Then there's Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor and Trump’s first ambassador to the United Nations. Haley criticized him after the January 6 insurrection, but has since tried to mend fences. He just might pick her to prevent her from running for president on her own against him. Odds: 10/1
Finally, also-rans in the Trump veepstakes include:
• Tulsi Gabbard. This former Democratic representative from Hawaii and presidential candidate has recently drifted MAGA-ward and might get the nod if Trump runs as an independent. Odds: 20/1 • Elise Stefanik. A member of the House Republican leadership, she's ferociously ambitious and an early Trump 2024 endorser, but has little else to recommend her. Odds: 45/1 • Kristi Noem. The governor of South Dakota told CNN she would be "shocked" if he asked her to be his running mate. She needn't worry. Odds: 100/1
Of course, there's no predicting how Trump's disordered rat's nest of a brain works. He may well end up picking someone totally else. Like Sarah Palin. Or Beyoncé.

Why are there so many Tulsi Gabbard Simps in the conservative and libertarian space? Ok I get that she is hot but her views on gun control favor rapists and genocidal dictators - no hyperbole. Flat out her views on 2A are inhumane. The 2016 and 2020 democrat presidential fields were pretty weak so being at the top of that candidate pool is not a major accomplishment
