realising that you don't imagine reader as your own self when you are reading an x / reader fic just because of lack of self confidence that much hits hard. especially when you imagine the reader as someone else rather than yourself or at least the best version of yourself in your head. escaping from reality is good until you realize you are actually escaping from yourself. i don't know if it's just me, but it's so painful
