You've expected it of course,

You've known the familiar pang in your chest, that will course through your torso as an empty heat.

Cooling down until it's as cold as ice in your fingertips,

They tremble as you let out a voice, it's coarse

You thought, what have you done? What deed?

Those icy fingers you'd wished belonged to someone else, touching your lips.
