NEXT DAY
The voyage is almost over. After viewing a variety of amazing, some spooky, otherworldly, and brilliant photos, compared to the dark ones. There was just one certainty every day… What will be the next day surprise.

The tale of two cities according to Heiko and Stephi - Part 439
We thought to make two Oktoberfest posts in our "Tales" series, this year.
Last week Heiko wrote about the beer tents and the fair itself. Today I want to write about the insides of the beer tents and give some other hopefully interesting information.
even though it is called "Oktoberfest" most of the festival takes place in September. Only the last weekend of Oktoberfest is always the first weekend in October. October 3rd is a German holiday, and in the years when this holiday is on a Monday or a Tuesday (like this year), Oktoberfest is one or two days longer and ends on this very holiday.
Oktoberfest is famous for the beer but it is also a big fair, and therefore during daytime, it is a family event as well.
Here in Munich, Oktoberfest is called "Wies'n", and during the two weeks, you see a lot of Bavarian traditional clothing, called Lederhosen and Dirndl. Many of Munich's citizens wear them when they visit "Wies'n" but many tourists do as well.
Oktoberfest has 14 big beer tents and you only get beer from Munich's breweries in them. In Heiko's post last week, you can see the so-called "Beerstreet" with the tents. The photos above show the insides of two tents.
The first photo was taken by Heiko five years ago when he visited Munich, and - together with Fern @allthingsfern , Pete @tvoom , and me - was at Oktoberfest. Pete and I don't like the beer tents so much, so we went to the "Oide Wies'n" ("old Oktoberfest), which is a separate part of the Oktoberfest, basically being a small version of the historical fair, with amusement rides and tents from Oktoberfest's past. The tents aren't as full and loud as on the "normal" Wies'n part.
The second photo was taken by me in one of the big beer tents and, it shows the party mood there. These tents are always full and very loud. People are drunk and are partying, they dance on the tables and sing loudly to the music. If you like something like that, you will love the Wies'n.
To be honest. I'm not the biggest Oktoberfest fan and - I think - the last time I visited was five years ago with Heiko and Fern. But I can understand that many people have a lot of fun there. Every few years, or so, I like to take a walk around in the fair area with all the lights and amused people, though.
Have you ever been to Oktoberfest in Munich?

LIFE IS MOVEMENT
Something static becomes alive just by having the concept of movement. The poet—I'm not sure which one, and I'm not even sure if he was a poet— one day said, "Life is Movement!" If no one knows who is the poet, then I will simply state: "Life is Movement!" Never forget. Always remember - Life is movement! Hey! you! - yes you! Why are you still standing there? ~zd ICM - challenge 59 - June Challenge Abstract Challenge - @stephiramona

Herbie around the world…
It was quite a long journey for the love bug. After he visited @snowghoul in Greece, Herbie arrived in Lucerne (Switzerland) safely. I decided to be a good tourist guide and show him one of the highlights of our country: The Alps! Engelberg. That’s not far away from home.
But before we were able to leave Lucerne, I had to make sure that he would be prepared for the rough weather conditions in the mountains. Both of us never used snow chains before, so we spent one full night in my garage first. It was worth it though! He was ready for the snow and he really seemed to enjoy his time there.
You will find more pictures of our adventure on my side-blog: und-der-boese-wolf
Please, if you received Herbie, post a photo and tag the photo #Herbie and then mention, who sent Herbie to you and where you took the photo (and if you want to, please also mention @tvoom so that he can see Herbie’s path around the world).

The tale of two cities according to Heiko and Stephi - Part 400
Because this is post number 400, Heiko and I will both write a little bit. The photos above we took at our second meeting in Cologne.
Stephi:
I can't believe that this is post number 400. When we started the "tales" I thought, just as Heiko did, that we will do this only for a few weeks until we run out of ideas or motivation. I also thought nobody would be interested in these post. But seems I was wrong with both. I still like to do this project with Heiko and people still show interest in our posts. Not only did I learn a lot about Cologne, I also learned a lot about my own hometown Munich
A heartfelt "thank you" to everyone who follows this series and especially to Heiko who became a great friend. We even met five times, two times in Cologne and three times in Munich. I enjoyed every single one, because Heiko is a clever, nice and funny person. Together we met our friend Fern @allthingsfern and with Pete @tvoom and him we went to the mountains and to Oktoberfest. Also thanks to them both for this wonderful time.
And now a big applause to Heiko who had the idea for the tales and who still deals with me even though I'm always late and unorganised.
Heiko:
When we started the Tales a long time ago, I thought we would do the for a while and would run out of ideas eventually. Having our 400th Tale today means that we are doing this for over 7 years now. That does not only seem like a long time and it actually is. So many things have changed since we started, from the rise and downfall of tumblr, a worldwide pandemic and a lot of personal changes.
But the Tales also lead to something really great as I found a friend without whom these Tales wouldn’t have been possible. And friends don’t just I’ve apart but also meet from time to time. Honestly, I have no idea when I met Stephi the first time. It must have been on a rainy evening in Cologne when we had a couple of beers and not that much time.We once more met in Cologne and did a photowalk through the city.
I vividly remember the first time I visited Stephi in Munich. It was in January and it was so bitter cold. I her never felt as cold as the day I went to Starnberger See with Pete, even though he might say the same about the next day at the Olympic Stadium. Let’s just say it was super cold these days.
I went to Much twice more and one of those times Old Man Fern was with us. That was such a great trip as well for many reasons.
Overall the Tales have been so much fun till now and never a burden. It has been tougher the last couple of months but I wouldn’t do them if it wasn’t fun. I met so many people thanks to tumblr and the Tales. And if anyone visits Cologne at some point, I would be happy to say Hi.
And Stephi, it’s an honor to do this series with you!

I spent a couple of days in Paris where I met the wonderful @themazette. And guess how amazed I was when one day she pulled Herbie out of her bag. I even was at the scene with Herbie at the Louvre.
Obviously I offered to take him back with me to Cologne for a second stint. This time we went to the zoo (and it’s tough to get a picture with animals on it and Herbie being able to stand steadily). From the zoo we went to the botanical gardens and took a picture in front of the Flora building.
Now Herbie is on it’s way into the world again…
---

I have received Herbie from Manuéle aka @themazette in Paris. The challenge is to take a photo of Herbie in my City . Then post, tag the photo with #Herbie and mention, who sent Herbie to me and where I took the photo (and don’t forgot to mention Pete, @tvoom, @tvoom365 so that he could see Herbie’s trip around the world).
