I think it's time I finally made one of these.
I go by Rubi (She/her, born 1998) on this site, and this is my dedicated Square Enix sideblog, focusing mostly on FFXIV; all manner of fan content, including NSFW. Do not worry, spoilers will be tagged as FFXIV/FFXVI spoilers! Main blog is @espurrs-wild, thus asks will be sent under that name!
Here is also where you will find info on my WoLs and OCs!
Speaking of which....

Summary:
The elder Warrior of Light, a charismatic, discerning, and multi-talented woman. She has been trained in combat since a young age, making her formidable on the battlefield. She is just as capable with her words on the debate floor and is worldly-wise in the affairs and inner workings of mainland Eorzea, making her second to Alphinaud in diplomatic affairs among the Scions. Y'dehlya is a lover of adventures, new experiences, and luxuries, not to mention a hopeless romantic at heart. Though underneath her warm personality and her protectiveness lies a woman still bearing the scars of the Calamity's aftermath, and burning desires to usher in an era of peace and to personally see that threats to her world's safety crumble to dust. Those that become unfortunate enough to meet this side of her find someone much, much colder. She is not a stranger to the brutal sting of heartbreak.

Summary:
The younger Warrior of Light, a brash, excitable, and competitive showboat of an adventurer. Once, he sought battles for the thrill and glory, and his early days as a Warrior of Light made him grow arrogant in his power. But fate had tempered him soundly, having him wrestle with his own inner demons to define what his true nature as a warrior and as a man would be. He has arisen from these battles a protector for the innocent and downtrodden, becoming more emotionally aware of others, though he still retains his boisterous personality and a healthy love for battle and competition. He has developed a keen interest in machines and technology and was taken under the wings of both Cid and Nero. Sometimes, he works part-time for the Garlond Ironworks. His knowledge has grown to such that he's become the Scions' go-to in manners of technology in the absence of any Ironworks members. He is a very dynamic and compelling storyteller.

Summary:
Y'dehlya's brother who possesses the Echo. He is a researcher employed by the Sons of Saint Coinach tasked with investigating ancient Allagan Summoning magic. Her opposite in sociability, the sharp-tongued Kouh'to maintains a more melancholy disposition that is difficult to read. He is insatiably curious; known to wander and do as he pleases, finding trouble as much as it finds him, and enjoys getting rises out of others, yet flusters easily and is uncomfortable being surrounded. Yet his acerbic mannerisms conceal a soul both gentler and more protective, especially towards the sister who often took care of him, and a temper that when lit with the right spark, erupts like a volcano. Against his older siblings, it is he who excels the most in the arcane arts, a fact he is quite proud of. But, he, too, was subjected to the same training they have at the same age they started. Has a hidden talent for acting.

Tell me a little (or a lot) about one of your newest OCs, and one of your oldest! ^w^ (dragonsmooch)
Oh!! I can certainly do that for you, dear Dragon!! Thank you so much for this!!
(source: this post (technically?))
Alright, so, for one of my newest OCs I'm going to pick Tsutsuji. She is an OC I created for the world of Final Fantasy XIV, and I've recently managed to figure out some more story I can give her, so now is as good a time as ever to talk about her, hopefully!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, here are some screenshots I took to show you what she looks like. And from there, I can give you some facts about her!
Tsutsuji is approximately in her late twenties, and is exceptionally tall for a female Au Ra - though this may not be saying too much considering said exceptional height is only 158.5cm. For context, that's about 5'2.4", which makes her shorter than Lorenza. The fact she wears raised sandals does very little to actually help her in this regard.
Her pale-coloured scales and cranial projections identify her as a Raen Au Ra, and she is originally from somewhere in the Yanxian kingdom of Doma. However, she came to Eorzea some years ago, ostensibly on a whim in pursuit of further magical discoveries; the impending umbral calamity about to hit the region at the time, in the form of the moon turning red and falling out of the sky, did little to dissuade her.
On the note of story, Tsutsuji currently fits into it by being a potential Warrior of Light; she wouldn't really fit that mantle if there were other (more archetypal) adventurers in the vicinity, but she does at least have the Echo, which would probably make her a Scion (or at least quite associated with them). Given that she fights as a summoner, the fact she has faced down primals directly without much risk makes summoning egi forms of them a lot easier for her. She's also generally very magically capable, so she's definitely not someone you want to be up against in battle, lest you get ruined by three different types of elemental attacks in rapid succession.
More concretely, Tsutsuji is part of the alliances that raid the Crystal Tower, having joined NOAH's expedition in search of the Allagan knowledge within it. She uses some of the information she reads about on the way up, plus the convenient monumentally-enormous voidgate at the top of the tower, to successfully summon a certain voidsent to the Source in her entirety - this of course being Lorenza. The two of them do make a pact - Lorenza's knowledge in return for Tsutsuji's aether - but Tsutsuji is fairly happy with the information she gets from Lorenza, and basically just.. lets her go and do her own thing in the Source pretty quickly. It's a very unconventional dynamic for a voidsent and the mage that summoned them, and Lorenza is very baffled by it.
In terms of personality, Tsutsuji is.. chaotic, to sum it up succinctly. As you may have gathered from how I've described her thus far. Incredibly spontaneous and theatrical in her ideas, appearing and disappearing on any given scene quite without warning, never seeming to take a bad situation seriously or let it affect her emotions in the slightest.. this one-of-a-kind demeanour would be remarkable enough in its own right, but it's compounded by her incredible arcane knowledge and magical capabilities, so she manages to strike fear into just about every villainous soul you could come across. I'm trying to think of a good comparison, but I'm falling short. Maybe like.. Elena from Pokémon Reborn but with extra "super chaotic/energetic nerdy scientist" vibes.
The name "Tsutsuji" is actually an alias of sorts - it's the Doman word for azalea flowers, which she is always seen wearing in her hair (I know that's a chrysanthemum in the screenshots but it was as close as i could get in-game okay), so over time people started referring to her by them. She'll never introduce herself by this name (or any name at all, honestly), but she does answer to it if you call her by it.
While she doesn't tend to speak much of her family (or any of her past, really), Tsutsuji does have a younger sister called Ajisai (which translates to "hydrangea"). She has also made the arduous journey to Eorzea, but much later in the story, arriving by boat alongside Yugiri and many other Doman refugees during the main story. She wants to find her sister, but the way Tsutsuji conducts herself doesn't exactly make that very easy for her (the fact she isn't using her actual name, for example).
My current voice claim for Tsutsuji is Xingchen (Stardust), the Synth V vocal. Which technically doesn't quite fit, considering that Xingchen is a Mandarin Chinese vocal whereas Tsutsuji (being Doman) is supposed to be Japanese, but it's more about tone of voice than accent. It's specifically how she sounds in this song, particularly the higher parts in the choruses. However, if she ever sounds as low and subdued as the song's verses sound, You Have Done Something Very Wrong. Her voice is usually a lot more light-hearted and all-over-the-place in terms of its tone! ..The song still does kind of fit as like a boss fight theme of sorts for her, though, honestly.
..Oh, crumbs, this is long. Sorry. Let me make another, separate, post for the older OC (I'll tag you in it when I'm done with it)
Thank you very much for this opportunity, friend ;w;

ive been in bed all day with a cold so i decided to begin my annual soul eater rewatch and it hit me... soul eater x the locked tomb. certainly someone has thought abt this before bc the parallels totally exist. cavaliers and adepts, weapons and meisters?? same concept different day. maka and soul’s dynamic vs griddlehark, dtk and the thompson sisters vs the tridentarii and naberius... lord death and jod as super old, probably slightly too laid back for their station characters who have Seen Some Shit. Lyctors and death scythes. crona and nona???? listen there’s layers to this that I haven’t thought of yet but... this could be something.
“always your sword, my umbral sovereign; in life, in death, in anything beyond life or death that they want to throw at thee or me”
tl;dr i think gideon deserves to actually be a sword this time

This is part 2! Too many topics in a single ask. More details on Dragon in the tower au coming soon if you want.
I never really talked about his personality so here we go! Pan was generally calm and stoic pre-zanado and has become pretty much unflappable since then because really heightened emotions can cause him to partially transform, a borderline painful experience. Tho he can be very funny and expressive when he wants to be, usually around his fam. He also tries to lie about his past as little as possible, usually by giving vague, general answers or even outright ignoring/deflection the question. Sometimes he will take the funny route if other people are present, Hanneman has been a victim of this.
He is very observant and has great judgement, it also translates into having decent foresight. But self-esteem issues combined with survivor's guilt + other stuff makes him feel like he has to do everything by himself. He thrives in an environment where there are people who he can support and who will support him in turn but ends up depriving himself of it. Which is why he's at his best when given responsibility of many people, like during the War of Eagle and Lion or the war in canon era.
This also makes him seem like a massive hypocrite in his Dimitri interactions lol. He's all like "You need to let others help and support you, it is our bonds that give us true strength" while also not telling his fam anything.
He was anti-empire from the beginning. He saw that the nabateans had little value beyond their powers to the nobility, afraid that they would end up becoming living tools for the empire. The rest dismissed him as being paranoid, he was in a pretty bad mental state after all.
Kyphon, while leading a small company of men, comes across a stranger who warns him about Imperial soldiers headed their way and offers to act as a lookout. Not wanting to risk their cover, he sends one of his trusted men with the stranger. Everything went smoothly and they were able to escape notice. Kyphon thanks the stranger and promises to lend aid were they to meet again in the future.
Then he and Loog meet this stranger Again, who gets them out of a bind Again. Loog is very grateful and says they're in his debt, the stranger just shrugs it off and leaves. Then they meet a third time and Kyphon asks if he has been following them. The stranger reluctantly admits that he has 'been curious about this movement and wished to see where it would lead' and finally introduces himself as [REDACTED], a mage and a scholar. Loog says some pretty words and convinces him to join.
Right after he joins some Srengese guy in the army comments that the new guy reminded him of Pan, a minor deity in his land, seen as a shepherd who protects them from the wilds, with the way he led them away from the Adrestians. Everyone thought this was the coolest thing ever and started calling him Pan.
Pan just goes with the flow, if they think this nickname is cooler who's he to stop them? Hence everyone forgot what he actually said his name was.
Weapon hcs: Durability is an important game mechanic but the implementation kinda sucked regarding relics so I made up my own version. Having to farm umbral steel to repair relics makes no sense worldbuilding-wise, like how did they repair these things when demonic beasts were next to non-existent? So in my version they can repair themselves like SotC. If you need them repaired faster, you can embue them certain kind of magic to accelerate the process. This is also how sacred weapons work, the magic infused in them repairs the weapon but you can still use mythril.
Would she try to recruit him, as Flamey? Maybe pull something like the enemies of my enemies are my allies (unless they're stinky lizards, they can be my allies for 2 seconds before I backstab them)?
I never thought about it like this!! Their dynamic would be absolutely hilarious! I can only imagine this ending in (not) betrayal at the holy tomb where he kills all the main players and prevents the war from happening. Edelgard, lying in the pool of her own blood, asks "Why?" His only reply is "Shouldn't have called us vile creatures that need to be exterminated." And she has a look of RealizationTM on her face.
Poor Pan though, but I wonder how he would have reacted to Jerry if Jerry told him his kid wasn't "normal", would he become protective of Billy who's, regardless of everything, part of his fam, or would he berate Rhea on not having told that human a thing about this Billy child?
Pan would get upset at Jerry regardless of Billy's lizardness. It's not Rhea's fault he's a terrible father! He has seen many humans with these traits and they don't deserve to be treated like this either!
Billy: I only found out I had a last name after coming to the monastery.
Pan: *looks at the camera like in The Office*
In a different hc/au Pan arrives at GMM while Citrus was around and he becomes her uncle figure. Rhea explains everything about Citrus & the previous homunculi, and also Jerry. So when he sees Jerry try to woo his 20 year old niece, every protective instinct in his body goes on full alert. He becomes their ultimate cockblocker and Jerry had never wanted to strangle anyone more. Citrus however has no clue what's going on and is just enjoying spending time with her uncle and that other guy who brings flowers sometimes :')
(did Pan and Loog hold hands or something?)
It's Schrödinger's hand holding! The benefit of hcs is that you can have contradictory ones at the same time! In the verses where they do hold hands, Pan reveals who he is and Loog'n'Kyphon are super cool with it and tell no one!
- Lizard Pan anon
Cool!
Nabateans trying to be vague about their past is my bread and butter lol, at least it's better than Seteth coming up with "Flayn is my daughter, it's totally true (and a foolproof disguise, I mean we managed to trick humans by using hair dye so this should work)" or Flayn who routinely forgets she's not supposed to be a lizard!
It must be sad to have to restrain his emotions to avoid transformation though...
He is very observant and has great judgement, it also translates into having decent foresight. But self-esteem issues combined with survivor's guilt + other stuff makes him feel like he has to do everything by himself.
The Blaiddyd curse lol, are we sure they only hold hands? Or Pan acts like his sister does during the battle of Garreg Mach, where she holds back the Imperial Army with perfect knowledge she might not return...
He thrives in an environment where there are people who he can support and who will support him in turn but ends up depriving himself of it
They all need to be around people lol but yeah, it's awesome how we can agree that some nabateans need to be around people, to help them and also to be helped, but someone said "no pointy ears" so they have to hide or disappear in a certain route...
He was anti-empire from the beginning. He saw that the nabateans had little value beyond their powers to the nobility, afraid that they would end up becoming living tools for the empire. The rest dismissed him as being paranoid, he was in a pretty bad mental state after all
Aww
Too bad he would be proven right a few years down the drain (1k!) but again, it's all about the right or wrong people being in charge, even if from a logical point of view, what should prevent the Willy gang from dicing Rhea'n'the others to gain more power or to use them as tools, as the humans following Nemesis did?
Loog says some pretty words and convinces him to join.
This makes me think of the feast of decadence where the guy pretending to be willy on stage says "words of love" to the person pretending to be seiros on stage lol
But it's a cool idea! Cryptid/random person Pan helps those humans who are in a bind, and helps them later on, again and again, ultimately joining their effort to fight against asses who think they are subhumans, or should be treated as such.
He was renamed !
IIRC in Claude's paralogue it's mentionned some people in Sreng worship the weird beast that is actually Macuil? Maybe the "minor deity Pan" was also another Nabatean? Or another being entirely.
And it makes more sense than whatever we have in-game (unless we're supposed to understand Billy'n'co are hunting Nabateans or humans turned into demonic beasts to repair their relics...)
I know some people don't like the "magic" excuse, but it works way better.
Rhea watching the scene unfold with a nervous laugh "haha I don't know what they are talking about, and by the way, no, this child is completely delured, Willy would never have done that." while Pan gives the longest sigh ever, but at least, everyone, dead and alive, is safe!
To Pan who has to learn how to restrain himself for fear of transforming, people calling Billy emotionless must hurt, they feel things, they just cannot outwardly show them!
Citrus tells Pan how Jerry is nice, he tells her stories and brings her flowers, he's kind for a human!
"and then what next, you'll tell me he can swallow noodles through his nose and find it awesome? Or borrow my stuff to give it to him?"
"of course not, he isn't completely stupid! Who would even do that? It's not awesome it's gross!"
Will Billy ever come to exist in this AU?
Then Pan will also have to deal with Aelfric also trying to woo her, and Rhea's useless because she calls Aelfric "her child" while Pan has to explain her that no for human, if they are both "her children" they can't court!
It's Schrödinger's hand holding! The benefit of hcs is that you can have contradictory ones at the same time! In the verses where they do hold hands, Pan reveals who he is and Loog'n'Kyphon are super cool with it and tell no one!
No Loog'n'Kyphon "sekrit history" then?
It would be hilarious for he and Rhea to have "edit wars", Rhea pushing the "Bestest Greatest Emperor to have existed Willy" while Pan pushes the "super brave and strong and courageous King Loog", and children of the monastery will judge, if they prefer to play "pretend I'm the super king of Lions" Pan wins, but if they prefer to play "I'm the Great Emperor who defeated the evil nemesis!" Rhea wins.
Cichol returns and calls them hopeless.

What does Indie think about the Eorzean holiday festivals she's experienced so far? Which has been her favorite?
Tumblr media
This years Moonfire Faire was Indie's first seasonal event, during which she gained this fabulous new swimsuit! Indie is very active, so this one was heaps of fun, despite not making it to the top of the obstacle course tower - she tried XD. She's also very fond of Costa Del Sol natch so this was a great first event for her.
The more sombre Rising event the following week paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the Seventh Umbral Calamity was where Indie got her first mentoring experience, taking young adventurer Nhagi'a Jakkya under her wing. This event was also special as she got to meet Naoki Yoshida (eeeeep HI) in some kind of reality blip and obtained one of her favourite minions, Smolus.
A few weeks later she experienced her first All Saint's Wake celebration. Indie's a big fan of spooky tales and shenanigans and found the legends behind the event fascinating but was sad to miss most of the masquerade this time around. She thoroughly enjoyed the pumpkin cookies though XD
Tumblr media
The Starlight celebrations have only just begun but they're already Indie's favourite. Recognising the Ishgardian knights acts of kindness towards the orphaned children and continuing the tradition of paying it forward each year is important to her. It's been a tough few weeks and there are people missing that she would have loved nothing more than to spend time with, but she's grateful for the friends and family that are around and will do her very best to keep everyone's spirits high - especially the boys of Fortemps Manor ❤️
Tumblr media
Thank youuuu @joiedecombat for creating this screenshot of Indie with the boys at Starlight - the group dynamic is 👌👌👌

can u tell us abt ur a tribe lore?? whats the timeline??
Anon. Anon, I am gripping your shoulders at this moment.
Tumblr media
Thank you for giving me something to think about while at work! And to finish posting the rest of The Nunh and I
The short answer is that some of the basic lore can be found here
Things not mentioned in the linked post:
By Seeker standards, Antelope tribal dynamics are simultaneously overly familiar and yet distant.
Honorifics
Mama ____ - A woman from the previous line who has a child (or kit) of the current line. Ex: A'lathei would refer to A'rhota as Mama A'rhota/Mama Rhota, but call her birth mother Mom/Mama/Mum/etc. Nana/Papa ___ - The elderly members of the tribe, usually the grandmothers/old Tias (including former Nunhs) of the current line. Auntie ___ - A woman from the previous line who has no children, or is a cousin. The tribal prefix is a sign of formality... or the tribal equivalent of getting your full government name said when paired with the angry tones of a mother. Most of the time, the given name is spoken. (A'lathei would simply be called Lathei by her family 80% of the time.)

Lords of the Fallen at Gamescom 2023: Dual-Realm Vibes and Epic Combat Action!
Lords of the Fallen, like, totally slayed in the Gamescom 2022 trailer, especially when you peep how Elden Ring and Nioh did, you know? It's all about those spooky vibes, man. This time around, it's way more hardcore and darker than the OG 2014 version. Amping up the horror factor is gonna make Lords of the Fallen pop big time compared to its genre buddies.
Tumblr media
Lords of the Fallen at Gamescom 2023 is gonna be lit! And speaking of excitement, don't forget to check out the gaming deals and offers when you're at the event, maybe even have a chance to grab some awesome PS4 games! You gotta check out the Lords of the Fallen theater for a sneak peek of a fresh, never-seen-before game zone. The presentation is gonna drop some serious knowledge on the dual-realm vibes and give you the lowdown on all the epic melee, ranged, and magic combat action!
Tumblr media
Lords of the Fallen gave off major Dark Souls vibes from the get-go, no cap. The spots I checked out were a maze of connected hallways, and you could pop open shortcuts to speed up those repeat runs, which was clutch. The baddies had that medieval undead swag going on – hella spooky, fam. Rockin' a sword in one hand, a shield in the other, and that trusty dodge-roll in my arsenal, I was feeling like a true OG Souls player. And while embracing that Souls-like experience, you might want to consider where to buy PS4 games to further immerse yourself in epic adventures.
Tumblr media
Discovering the Umbral Realm and Unique Combat Dynamics
Lords of the Fallen introduced me to some basic enemy groups, which were like your typical cannon fodder, ya know? They had these super long attack windups that were great for practicing my combat timing. But as I kept going, I started noticing what sets Lords of the Fallen apart, and trust me, these differences are a big deal. So, I started my epic journey in Axiom, the land of the living, but guess what? There's a whole other realm called the Umbral Realm, where my character ends up when they bite the dust. I could take a peek into Umbral by waving around this special lantern thingy, or use it to open a small portal between the two worlds and hop into the spooky dark side.
Lords of the Fallen: Umbral is, like, a way edgier and trippier take on Axiom, but, like, you gotta know the key distinctions. So, there was this moment when I was in Axiom, right? There was this total roadblock, and that's when I busted out the Umbral Lantern. When I raised that lantern high, it like transported me into the Umbral Realm. In that vibe, the lantern spilled the tea, showing me a reality where the door was, like, totally MIA, and I could just breeze through. But when I lowered the lantern, it locked me in, and there was no turning back, fam.
Tumblr media
Umbral Realm, Second Chances, and Checkpoints
Lords of the Fallen, like, it's not just all about having a blast and solving those brain-teasers, you know? The Umbral Realm is like your backup life, but it's pretty sketchy because if you bite the dust here, it's game over for real, like, no respawns, dude. To bounce back from the Umbral Realm, you gotta scout for a checkpoint, which can be, like, a Vestige or a chill Flower Bed where they planted a Vestige seed. These spots recharge your health and healing stuff, let you level up, and bring those baddies you whooped back into the action. It's all about that second chance.
Lords of the Fallen, like, it's not all rainbows and unicorns, you feel me? So, after some seriously slick moves and epic beatdowns, Otto bit the dust and just crashed hard. My victory high was, like, super short-lived, though. Out of nowhere, that same goblin-like dude from the opening cutscene rolls in on a dragon, like, what even? His health bar pops up, calling him "The Lightreaper," and he's all about being the "early-game boss whose only job is to make you eat dirt." I was left there, totally helpless and shaking, like, whoa.
Tumblr media
Lords of the Fallen, you see, is all about embracing the fact that biting the dust is just part of the game, no biggie. So, I quickly respawned and got back to my epic quest. I ventured deeper into a blazing castle, and I started messing around with the sweet tricks of the Umbral Lantern, you know, just trying out some of its cool moves. One of them, the Soul Flay skill, was a game-changer. It allowed me to snatch the soul right out of my foes, freezing them in their tracks for a hot minute while I dished out some serious damage. This came in super handy when I faced off against this beefy warrior dude swinging around a massive two-handed sword. I metaphorically tore him apart, which not only gave me a chance to patch myself up but also stored up all that damage in his soul. Once his soul and body were back together, it only took one hit to unleash all that stored-up hurt. And if you're wondering, that badass move could be recharged by siphoning energy from certain spots in the Umbral realm, so it was worth using against the tough customers.
Tumblr media
The intro cutscene was, like, lit, and then she came at me swinging. At first, I was holding my own pretty well, you know, giving it my all. But then out of nowhere, she grew these wings, brought down a hail of arrows from the heavens, and summoned two, like, holographic versions of herself. It was insane, and she wrecked me the first time around. But I didn't give up, you feel me? On round two, I was, like, in the zone, and that rush of adrenaline and endorphins kicked in. That's the stuff that makes these games so damn satisfying as you make progress.

Tumblr media
Well, of course, with such a blunt yet understandable question as that, considering Reno’s words and actions and implications thus far, he was still brought to some small level of shock. His brows raised and he just stared at the man, considering him a moment, as well as that challenging look he offered.
He sat up a bit more, not displaying himself across the desk as much, but not removing himself from it either. He leaned himself, hands on his knees, nearer Sephiroth, and quirked his head. “It hasn’t gone out of style, nah. Just not sure that really fits our dynamic here. Suppose I’m still trying to figure it out.” he confessed. “Besides…what does ‘going out’ entail for you?” he asked, somewhat rhetorically. “Because I seriously doubt you’d enjoy yourself with me.” he laughed, as if he weren’t implying that in ways of enjoying themselves and letting loose, they were likely from two different realms of enjoyment.
Tumblr media
He shrugged, still not wavering his gaze as he looked at Sephiroth, not even reacting to him clearly shooing someone outside. “Would you accept, if I asked you out?”
Tumblr media
Under the light pressure of the hand supporting his cheek, Sephiroth hummed a quiet chuckle; his eyes narrowed slightly on the outer edges of their leafy shape.
“All of a sudden, you try to play safe?” He called him out on his hesitation. Wasn’t it too easy, to want to know the result before even daring something challenging?
It almost made him think that at this moment, the ever confident and direct Reno of the Turks was afraid of him.
So that was where his limit traced its line, he figured.
Supple lips parted to draw out a sigh, and the SOLDIER stood, leaving his chair behind, and breaking contact with the red-head, retrieving control of his personal space.
Tumblr media
“That’s too bad… Reno.” Dark leather boots slowly strode across the office, avoiding the scattered papers and desk tools strewn across the floor with effortless grace. In a short amount of steps, he was in the doorway.
“You should work on that bravado.” The First recommended, pausing just to look back at the Turk, gaze stone cold, yet a certain amused spark shone at its back. The small curve to the corner of his mouth gave little room for doubt. “… And clean up your mess.”

Alright, now that my initial euphoria as lifted (a little), time to some considerations and feedback regarding this season, and sadly, that was a weak season compared to the previous ones. I had some great time playing it, but the weak points speak louder than the strong ones.
TLDR: 90% of the issues would be solved if the ending was a goal instead of a surprise.
SOTPLUNDER ENDING TALK BELOW
Ketchcrash was a great activity, very dynamic and exciting to do, which is very important in a game where farming is valued. Same can't be said about Expeditions, especially in the first days with all the glitchs and frustrating triumphs (looking at you, 50 ruffians). It did feel like a public event tbh, and while PE are nice in open map, a single activity on it feels weak. Comparing to past season, the public events in Leviathan were super fun to farm and play because of that open map characteristic (fun fact I ended sotHaunted with 333 containments). Also, another pet peeve I had regarding farming and drops is that the armors doesn't come focused like the Haunted ones. At the end of the season, I caught myself farming back at the Leviathan for Umbral Energy than in Ketchcrash/Expedition.
Seasonal activity felt too fast and shallow compared to sotHaunted and Lost (i didn't play Risen, shame on me). Exploring the Ascendant Plane in sotLost was something I could spend hours doing and Sever in sotHaunted made me much more closer to the characters and narrative. This time I didn't feel anything new for the characters and the story. I was mostly looking forward for the radio calls at the end of the quest than the mission itself.
Speaking of narrative and storytelling — which for >me< is the most important reason for me to play D2 — is the lack of a solid goal for us, players. I'm all for some drama and the Eliksni drama itself was great to watch 👀✨ but there was so much emphasis on them while something clearly much more significant to >us< was happening aka Nezarec. I do believe the Nezarec subject will extend over the next seasons, especially now that Osiris is back to us thanks to the nespresso, but the whole Nezarec development in this season is quite non-existent and makes the season ending less impactful and too easy than it should be. I wanted to see more about Misraaks' studies, more about the ritual than Eido drop a "lol so, this folklore here...".
If we knew since the beginning that we could use the Nezarec relics to bring Osiris back, that would give us a solid objective to go through the story and fulfill the quest — it would give us the focus that we missed here.
We could still have some Eliksni drama - Misraaks hiding the corruption element about the relics, Eido being kept blind about her father's hypocrisy, Rakis aka Spider being the dogpile he always have been, etc. Saint didn't even need to be an active character, he could still stay at Osiris' side while watching the progress (he was already pretty anxious this season, which already hinted to more attentive ears that Osiris could wake up anytime soon). Drifter could also continue to help us considering he's familiar to Nezarec relics, and Eramis could still be out there collecting the relics for the Witness. The narrative team missed the clear focus of giving us a solid objective, and because of that, everything else felt too weak to us.
"But what if they wanted Osiris' awakening to be a surprise?" Truth is, the surprise was long gone since Lightfall was introduced. We knew Osiris had to wake up before it comes, so it could be the perfect seasonal goal, and give the Nezarec relics the proper importance they deserve.
For strong points, I loved to see and learn more about the Eliksni culture and bonds, the Misraaks-Eido-Spider trio was a delight especially in the most chaotic times, and Eramis had some build-up that makes her much more interesting mostly at the end. Again, Ketchcrash was a great activity and I much more rather farm stuff there than on Expeditions, and I personally have no problem at all reusing Lost Sector maps for the activities, except that, as I said, they felt too short and impactless.
Anyway that’s just some of my beans I wanted to babble about! I tend to focus mostly on the positive stuff (O14 KISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but I also think it’s important even to myself to open a space to babble my opinions and exercize my critique eyes to things that can be improved!

How to get me to hate your ship: Crosstagging ship hate + spamming posts with other ships with XY, "XY is so much better/more wholesome/purer/blah than XZ, who would ship THAT", applying a moral standing to shipping something (People who ship XY are good people, unlike those XZ shippers), sending hate to people in defense of/for not liking your ship, the ship tag is mostly about discourse, complaining about lack of content/people and shit talking other shippers rather than actual ship content.
How to get me to like, or at least not mind, your ship: Actually seem like you’re having fun with it instead of it being a moral performance, being chill with people shipping other things/not liking your ship, share ship art with me just because you like it, not because you’re trying to prove how much ‘better’ XY is than XZ, ship tag has actual content and isn’t just discourse and shit talking. Basically, if your ship seems like a fun place to be, I’m down with it.

Ship ask game: Gideon/Harrow
What made you ship it?
I mean, like, the books are well written, and they spend so, so much effort on absolutely nothing but trying to get me to ship them. I'm willing to be convinced!
Also an aesthetic level I really appreciate horribly unhealthy relationships based on grand gestures and cycles of reciprocal martyrdom and incredibly poorly communicated passions and exactly one (1) real conversation of any substance.
And they've got a really fun/cute dynamic when they're not killing themselves for each other (well, and also when Gideon's no longer Harrow's semi-literal whipping girl and also bullying victim in the beginning)
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Honestly the grand melodramatic vows of undying devotion. The yearning! The angst!
Like I mean c'mon
Always your sword, my umbral sovereign; in life, in death, in anything beyond life and death that they want to throw at thee and me. I died knowing you'd hate me for dying; but Nonagesimus, you hating me always meant more than anyone else in this hot and stupid universe loving me. At least I'd had your full attention.
You sawed open your skull rather than be beholden to someone. You turned your brain into soup to escape anything less than 100% freedom. You put me in a box and buried me rather than give up your own goddamn agenda. Harrowhawk, I gave you my whole life and you didn’t even want it.
10/10, chef's kiss.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I mean I'm firmly of the opinion they're less Meg Ryan and more Lord Byron, but no real idea how unpopular that is at this point.
(But hey, with two books left, maybe they'll have a second conversation at some point!)

For the 100 OC asks:
3. What is their biggest motivator?
7. Which of their relationships have impacted them most positively?
33. Do they own any objects of significant personal importance?
43. Why might someone dislike them?
57. What D&D alignment are they?
81. Do they try to hide their emotions? Are they good at it?
98. Something that they regret?
Tumblr media
3. What is their biggest motivator? Elidibus, the Scions, and other WoLs are her biggest motivators.
7. Which of their relationships have impacted them most positively? Elidibus, her adoptive parents, and a few of the Scions. For Elidibus, their relationship, at the start, was rocky. Why would a Bringer of Light seek out her greatest enemy, the Ascians? Truth be told, she questioned herself many times. However, her curiosity to learn about the Ascians triumphed over her logical side to 'stay away'. Over time, she learned a bit from the Emissary, even if she was a thorn in their side. This came to a head after Zenos's defeat, when she sought him out. She was emotionally and physically drained to the point she was in tears. Listelle NEVER usually cried in front of people--much less her foes. Another instance was when she was having problems with pain coming from the Lightwardens' aether in her. Only worse when she was forced to fight him at the top of the Crystal Tower. Only for him to be defeated and fused with the structure itself. Which...she freed him from later down the road with help.
Despite this, she had learned a great deal of her 'enemy' and herself at the same time. Feelings of longing had come to consume her senses when around him. Now that he is free and untempered, Listelle is forced to accept compliments about herself she has loathed for years. She is slowly trying to better herself on her self-esteem, even if just a little nudge from Eli.
Listelle's adoptive parents, Sizha and Rehzih'li Vebei, two Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te that live in the Black Shroud. They found her on their cabin's doorstep once upon a time ago. A single note saying to raise her well, that 'they' were dead, and her name was Listelle. Despite the hesitation, they picked up the child and adopted her as their own daughter. Most of the values and beliefs she has now are from them. Despite being a different race, she treats her adoptive parents well.
By the time she left home and went adventuring, they worried about her a lot. Even more so, after she became a Warrior of Light to help the world. They had a feeling she was special, because sometime she would 'lose focus' randomly, and know things she shouldn't. Both never questioned it, thinking it was just a children thing. Now, they sort of caught on it...somewhat. Regardless, they have been a positive influence on Listelle's life.
33. Do they own any objects of significant personal importance? A harp given to her when becoming a bard, flowers (if they last that long), some childhood tomes that were read to her by her parents.
Another thing that has YET to given to her by her adoptive parents. A brilliant, deep purple shell that was found on her, when she was a baby. There is also a letter attached, but..has yet to find itself in the Raen's hands. (mehehehe) 43. What might someone dislike them? Probably because she is 'from' Gridania, born and raised within the region. The natives were/are wary of outsiders that were not from the Twelveswood. So, the Raen gives off airs that she doesn't trust everyone off the bat, despite where they were from. (Still somewhat true; She doesn't trust people willingly, until after sometime).
It wasn't until well after the Seventh Umbral Calamity, and went off adventuring did that attitude change.
She is also very messy at times. Her quarters and home are an organized mess, so that could put well-organized people into a loop.
The fact that she is a relationship with an Ascian could be another big one. Main reason Elidibus and herself keep their dynamic at a down low. Not everyone views them in a positive light, even if untempered. 57. What D&D alignment are they? Neutral Good. 81. Do they try and hide their emotions? Are they good at it? Listelle does or tries, because of the reputation she has in the realm. She has to be a strong and unyielding healer; Someone that can't show weakness in front of her foes. With this fear and expectation shown, it's hard for her to cope in very stressful situations. She tries to bottle it up during missions, but doesn't always work. Her strong persona has cracked several times, where she'd cry in front of the Scions or close friends. Elidibus knows what she does, so he tries to make her loosen up on it. It's a work-in-progress to show her emotions currently.
98. Something that they regret? Not being able to save people that are close to her.
