BEFORE & AFTER COLORING › Here was my most recent go at this

For me it's a priority to preserve skin tones as much as possible so I've mastered removing harsh reds especially from the shadows of tan and dark skin tones without washing out the coloring or sacrificing the overall brightness of the gif.

My biggest coloring secret is use of layered gradients usually with different blending modes. I find that gradients can be used as building blocks to achieve what you want the same way painting on a gif does, but gradients tend to look more natural and even and you can mask them to preserve or layer what you want. I think of it as cheating bc they make an insane difference with little effort.

One of these gifs is from an old skool psd that I made sometime around 2020, you can probably tell which one by the softer sharpen technique alone. I've never shared or posted it anywhere and still can't get myself to get rid of the file cause I love the coloring so much so figured I might as well share it.

Also my obx psd will always be famous.
