Sullivan said the USW has believed in the NDP since the party was first formed in 1961 and says the endorsement is important because the party still shares the union’s core values and same vision as us.
“They’re the only party that is an unwavering support of labour,” Sullivan told The Sault Star. “They are the party that’s going to put in card check certification so that it is easier to organizer and form a union so that we can get to the negotiating table and build those strong collective agreements with good wages, job stability, protection in collective agreements and representing workers.”
After a bruising three-year fight, workers at school bus manufacturer Blue Bird in Fort Valley, Georgia, voted May 12 to join United Steelworkers (USW) Local 697.
“It’s been a long time since a manufacturing site with 1,400 people has been organized, let alone organized in the South, let alone organized with predominantly African American workers, and let alone in the auto industry,” said Maria Somma, organizing director with the USW.
I haven’t posted about it in a while but some of you may recall that I have a modest collection of WWI era Iron Crosses
I’ve been wanting to get this booklet to complement the collection for several years now
But every time I’ve ever found it, the shipping from Germany to the US was something like $35, often as much or more than the booklet itself. Though I want it, I can’t bring myself to spend ~$75 or more on it.
So being in the UK now, I thought perhaps I could find it for a decent price with decent shipping. Still can’t get my hands on it for less than $50.
