oooooooh viktor is vanya?
sorry i've only seen two episodes of the umbrella academy & my dash got hit with a bunch of stuff about it since the new season is out and i keep seeing stuff about a viktor and was confused when people referenced stuff he did in the first episodes because i'm over here like, there is no one named viktor guys, what are you on? but the actor is elliot page, and he hadn't come out at that point, so he was playing a woman, but they made that character trans to fit with elliot, right? am i at all right?

I've got a sinking feeling - {Five Hargreeves x GN!Reader}
Synopsis: You are very flirty with Five, and he's tricked himself into believing he hates it. He tells you to stop. Then he learns the hard way how much he took you for granted when you meet someone else.
Tumblr media
Note: Five requests would be very appreciated! Thank you to those who sent requests on my last one shot.
(Not Edited)
Warnings: Swearing
Word count: 1.5k
Extra Information: Viisi means Five in Finnish. Five and Y/n were partners in the commission. They look seventeen or eighteen instead of thirteen. This one-shot takes place on the last episode of season one, and the entirety of season two.
----
The Academy, Five's home, has just collapsed--courtesy of Vanya's new powers--and Five ordered his family to meet at Super Star Lanes bowling alley to come up with a new plan of action.
He grabs your wrist, blinking you with him. You're both in front of the bowling alley in a flash of blue.
Five takes a moment to pace around, not entering the building. The crisp, spring air bites at your earlobes as you hug your sides for warmth
"Hey, Viisi, can we go inside?" You look at him with a grimace and a pleading smile. He whips his head in your direction to glare at you, then strolls inside with a roll of his eyes. You follow in his stead.
The interior is heated, thankfully. Five informs the underpaid worker that his "parents" will be arriving shortly to pay for his bowling shoes. He takes a seat adjacent to Lane 6 and you sit next to him.
"So, how was the farewell with Delores? I know you two were close." You lean back in your seat, getting more comfortable while waiting for Five's siblings to arrive.
He does not look at you, his jaw ticks in annoyance.
"Come onnn, I know you're stressed, but this is your sister. I'm sure she's reasonable enough not to end the world." You turn towards him, leaning your elbows on your thighs and admiring his pretty face.
"No, it's not that." He scoffs, looking at you with a sneer.
You notice that his tie is crooked so you reach out to fix it, like you often do. It's sort of your thing.
He smacks your hand away and you raise an eyebrow.
"You okay Viisi?" You rub your hand a little, surprised. Normally, he lets you fix his tie with no problem. Although, he would grumble about it a little.
"God- No. I'm not okay." He puts his hands in his hair, gripping it slightly with an exasperated expression. "And stop calling me that."
"What?" You breathe with a smile of disbelief. "What's going on? Did something happen- Did I do something?" You lean away from him a little to give him more space.
"Stop, just stop it with the touching and the nicknames. I'm sick of it!" He looks at you with cold eyes. This is very unusual of him.
You cock your head to the side, trying to understand. "Five, I thought- I thought that was our thing! Y'know, the friendly banter and-"
"I know you're desperate for some sort of relationship with me, but I'm here to tell you that it's not going to happen. We were only ever co-workers." He says through gritted teeth, avoiding your eyes. "I'm telling you to stop pursuing me." You were never 'pursuing' him.
Usually you would brush this sort of behavior off, ignore it. Tell yourself that it's only because he's stressed. He's always stressed! Thinking back, he was never all that nice to you. Even in your Commission days.
You'd tricked yourself into thinking that maybe he thought you were special, or that you were at least his friend. His confidant.
You look at him with eyes full of hurt, which Five has never seen from you. He almost feels something bubbling up his throat, but the feeling dissipates quickly. "Have I made myself clear?" He says evenly.
You only nod, turning away so he doesn't see the tears prick at your eyes.
Five's siblings come inside and you two don't speak to each other again.
A year and seven months later (for you, at least.)
1963, Dallas Texas:
Five anxiously pulls at his tie after narrowly escaping three armed Swedish men. He had just watched his siblings, along with you, blow up in yet another nuclear explosion. It's left him oddly shaken up about how he treated you back in 2019.
He's pacing down the alley-way between the Commerse and Knox when he notices a flash atop the roof. A large camera of some sort.
A brown haired man closes his window briskly. That's strange.
Five teleports inside, scaling up a flight of stairs with cat-like agility. When he knocks on a door, the one beside him answers, revealing a mouse-y looking man in his early thirties. He looks at him with big, expectant eyes.
"What do you want." His tone is dripping with suspicion.
"Hi, I'm selling encyclopedias for my youth group. I was curious if-" Five gets a door to the face. He huffs, blinking inside after him.
The man, Elliot, jumps, yelping in fear and pulling out a butter-knife from his drawer of kitchen utensils. "H-how did you do that?" He hesitates, astonished.
Five looks at him with amusement. "Don't really have time to explain."
Elliot runs a hand through his unkempt brown hair, gripping the butter-knife in a feeble attempt to protect himself. "You from the Pentagon? Huh?"
"Definitely not."
"CIA? FBI? KGB?"
Five eyes up the kitchen, noticing a coffee pot on the other side of the room. "Is that fresh?" He uses his powers again, blinking himself right in front of the coffee pot.
Elliot screams, whipping his head back and forth between the place Five just was and the place he appeared. "What..." He pants, eyes wide.
"Elliot? You okay?" Five hears a faraway voice from another room. A familiar voice. "Who's with you?" It asks.
You appear from around the corner, presumably from Elliot's bedroom, looking almost two years older.
Five furrows his eyebrows and so do you. He breathes out your name is what you almost register as relief. But, you know better then to think that.
"Oh, Five. You're back." You say casually, nodding and crossing your arms. Five sets the coffee down, unwillingly noticing how you didn't call him by his nickname.
"How long have you been here?" He walks towards you, looking at your slightly different features. You changed your hair, he observes. He says nothing about it.
"A year and a half, I believe." You tap your chin in thought. Elliot glances between you two with interest or surprise.
"You two know each-other?" He puts the butter-knife back onto the counter with a small clatter.
You nod, shrugging. "We were co-workers." You send Elliot a reassuring, genuine smile.
Co-workers. Five doesn't like how the word rolled off your tongue.
He licks his lips, looking away. "You live here?" He asks you, though it was a silly question considering its obvious answer.
You nod with tight lipped smile, approaching Elliot. You fix his hair with your fingers and flip the collar of his flannel back down. "Did he scare you? I told you he could be a bit much."
Elliot exhales a shaky laugh at your words and actions as Five begins to feel a hot, frothy feeling in the pit of his stomach. He changes the subject. "Are my siblings here too?"
Elliot answers for you, looking back towards the teen again. "The other six anomalys- The power surges." He begins to look excited at this new discovery. "They're your siblings?"
Five ticks his jaw, ignoring him. "So they're alive..." He begins to pace around. "I think I stranded them here. Now listen to me..."
"Elliot." You tell him his name.
"Whatever, alright? I got ten days to find them and save the world." He points to you and Elliot. "Now, I need your help to do that."
Elliot is just so happy to be involved, his three year long project finally achieving some major development. He scrambles to find a certain newspaper scrap from his desk drawer. "You know what? I, uh..." He fumbles with it, handing it to Five.
"I always thought that this, uh, mugshot looked like arrival number four."
"Diego." Five reads softly, then he twists around to face you. "You're coming with me." He states.
You hiss awkwardly through your teeth, avoiding his eyes. "Ohh, about that... Actually, Elliot and I were about to play scrabble."
Five narrows his eyes at you, barking your name. "The world is ending and you're just gonna play scrabble with this homebody?"
Elliot looks at his dusty wooden floors with a look of dejection.
"Uh, yeah. That's exactly what I'm gonna do." You lean against the door-frame with a bored expression. "I thought you wanted me to stop following you around like a lost puppy."
Five feels strange. "You know what? I don't need this." He blinks away to search for Diego.
When Five returns from the strip club, after a failed attempt of recruiting both Luther and Diego, he decides to test something. His fingers reach for his tie, pulling at it and skewing it. Perfectly crooked.
You couldn't resist fixing his tie, he knew this.
So why didn't you? He finds himself uncharacteristically frustrated about unresponsiveness.
As he demands that Elliot develop his Frankel Footage, his eyes trail to you occasionally, silently tempting you to straighten his tie.
Your eyes flicked to it once. However, you made no move to adjust it.
Five heaves a dramatic sigh, angrily fixes it, and leaves to look for Vanya.
He messed up before, he realizes. He feels like shit.

Pairings: Hargreeves siblings x sister reader
*not my gif*
Summary: When you left, all of your siblings hated you, and now you were facing them once more
A/N: Welcome to book place’s one year event!!
Inspired by: Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Tumblr media
I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
You let loose a long breath and glanced hesitantly up to the tall, menacing building before you. The building of your childhood, if you could even call it that.
To be completely honest, you didn’t even know why you had come back. You hated your father and your siblings hated you, so why would you show up to the man’s funeral, when they would all be there?
As much as you wanted to turn back around and hail another cab to get you as far away from this place as possible, you put on a brave face and pushed the door open, stepping into the vast entryway.
Barely three small steps had been taken inside by you when you froze at the sound of your name being called.
“Y/n,” Allison had her lips parted slightly in shock from where she and Vanya stood at the end of the hall.
You swallowed thickly, “Hey, guys,” You greeted in a voice that was barely even audible to yourself. You toyed with the ends of your gloves nervously.
“Oh, um,” Allison cleared her throat and strode across the room to see you, stopping a healthy three feet away, “It’s so good to see you, Y/n.”
The words were forced, and you knew it, but you gave her a tight lipped smile and a nod anyway.
“Yeah, same here, Y/n!” Vanya called, and you knew in that moment that after everything, she must have been almost as uncomfortable with being here as you were.
If your original gut instinct wasn’t any indication before, then this interaction told you everything about how this visit would go.
The sight of Diego crossing to the staircase caught all of your attention and he snapped something about Vanya not being welcome back before his eyes snapped over to you.
“Y/n,” He spoke in an awkward greeting before skirting past the three of you and clambering up the stairs.
Not only did your siblings hate you, but you just got confirmation that they were also still scared of you. After all these years, when they had grown up beside you and learned how to deal with your ‘gift’, and yet, they were still wary of what you could and possibly would do.
Midnights become my afternoons
You sat on the windowsill in the attic, legs dangling out the window as you looked up at the moon and stars.
“I figured that I would find you up here, Miss. Y/n.” You heard a voice sound behind you.
Unconsciously, you smiled and turned around, “Pogo,” You greeted kindly.
His smile was something that hadn’t changed a bit over the years, “It is so good to see you.” He said genuinely, walking over until he could grasp your gloved hand and squeeze it gently.
He had always been the only one who wasn’t afraid of you. Of what touching you could do to them. Of how painful their deaths would be if they laid a single finger on your bare skin. How without meaning to, you would slowly and excruciatingly kill them.
That’s why you wore gloves and long sleeves at all times, so that no one would unintentionally be hurt by you.
“It’s late,” You hummed when you pulled away, “What are you doing up?”
“Why, I came up here to ask you the same question.” He mused.
You shrugged nonchalantly, leaning your back against the wall, “I don’t usually go to sleep until really early in the morning.” You informed him.
“Well, that can’t be healthy.”
You laughed loudly, the first time you’d done so in what felt like many months, “It’s probably not.” You agreed once you sobered up.
Too busy looking back out the window, you failed to notice Pogo glance behind him and give a hidden figure a single nod of reassurance.
The only thing that brought your attention back to him was once he gave you a slight pat on your clothed knee, “I am always available if you wish to speak about anything.”
You smiled genuinely, “Thank you, Pogo.”
“Hey, n/n.”
Your head snapped up at the sound of a new voice that spoke as soon as Pogo had left.
“Diego,” You breathed out.
“Listen,” He cleared his throat awkwardly as he shuffled into view, coming to a stop right in front of you- less than a healthy distance away, “I’m sorry about earlier. I just didn’t think you were actually gonna show.”
You smiled tightly, pulling your knees up to your chest, “Yeah, that makes two of us.”
He sighed, dropping down into a crouch before you and looking up into your eyes, “I know none of us left off on a good foot- especially with you- but I want you to know that I’m sorry. For everything.”
Your chest tightened at his words. After all these years of thinking every last one of your siblings despised you for who you were- what you could do- you never thought one of your brothers would be telling you that he didn’t actually hate you at all.
“T-thank you, Diego.” You choked out, eyes filling with tears, “That means a lot.”
When my depression works the graveyard shift
Your eyebrows furrowed as you took tentative steps towards your fathers old office, the one that was supposed to be vacant now that he was dead.
The clattering of objects only got louder the closer you got, and it was making you nervous. Perhaps someone had broken in when they heard that the billionaire was dead? The last thing you wanted was to have to resort to using your powers, because you doubted any of your other siblings would come to your aid. Expect of course, maybe Diego.
“Hello?” You called out slowly when you stepped into the room. At the sound of your voice, a head popped up from behind your fathers old desk with a wide grin, and you couldn’t help but relax slightly, “Klaus.” You breathed out.
“N/n!” Your brother squealed, jumping up the rest of the way and scrambling over to you with outstretched arms.
Alarmed, you took a sudden step back, and he stopped short when he noticed.
“Oh!” He giggled, placing a hand near his mouth, “I forgot about the whole no touchie thing!”
“What are you doing in here?” Your eyes shone in curiosity, pushing down the thoughts that threatened to swarm your mind about Klaus’s first instinct being to hug you.
“You know,” He waved a dismissive hand, “Just getting ahead on my inheritance.”
Despite yourself, your lips twitched upward slightly at the words, “Really?” You asked in slight amusement.
The man’s jaw dropped open and he stared at you with wide eyes, “Was-was that a smile I just saw? Gosh, my memories from when we were kids consisted of you being completely stone-face.” He let out a shrill giggle again, “Though, I suppose I’m now the one that’s stoned!”
Whatever form of a smile had adorned your face immediately fell and you crossed your arms tightly over your stomach.
All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room
This was terrible.
The silence was painful to sit through. You must have looked like you had an itch with the way you were shifting back and forth on the couch you stiffly sat on beside Vanya.
Nobody was making eye contact with one another, it was just all of you- once siblings, now complete strangers- sitting in a tense circle in your childhood living room.
Finally, Luther cleared his throat and pushed himself off of the couch that was directly across from you, “So, I guess we should get started.” Everyone’s eyes snapped over to the man that had grown more than a little bit over time, “So, I figured we could have a sort of memorial service in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, just at Dad's favorite spot.” He spoke awkwardly.
“Dad had a favorite spot?” Allison’s eyebrows had shot up alongside yours in surprise.
Luther’s own eyebrows furrowed, “You know, under the oak tree. We used to sit out there all the time.” He looked around for anyone to agree with him, only to be met with bewildered looks, “None of you ever did that?”
You shook your head softly, looking down at your hands that fiddled with one another from where they rested in your lap.
Klaus strolled over and began talking loudly, and you sat back and watched silently as everyone went back and forth a little bit.
“Listen up,” Luther tried to reign the family in once more when they got off track, “Still some important things that we need to discuss, all right?”
“Like what?” Diego asked with a roll of his eyes from where he was leaning against a pillar near the fireplace.
“Like the way he died.”
Your eyes widened and your mouth dropped open a little as you looked at him, everyone else adorning similar looks.
“I don't understand. I thought they said it was a heart attack.” Vanya piped up in confusion.
“Yeah, according to the coroner.”
“Well, wouldn't they know?”
“Theoretically.” It was clear that Luther was beginning to realize that he had made a mistake by bringing this all up.
“Theoretically?” It was the first time you had spoken up, and you felt a couple of the others glance at you as you did so.
Yet again, your siblings began to bicker back and forth, and you sank lower into the couch cushions, not at all liking the way their voices raised more and more by the minute.
“Oh, isn't it obvious, Klaus? He thinks one of us killed Dad.” Diego’s voice snapped you harshly back to the present and a dangerous silence overcame the entire room again.
You looked up at Luther in disturbance, only to find him already staring down at you. And all at once, you felt your mouth go dry and your throat begin to close up slightly, “You don’t actually think-“
All around you, your siblings caught onto what Luther was really indicating and they adopted looks of shock. Diego let out a low whistle, “That’s messed up, man.”
“Look,” Number one stressed, “I’m just saying, according to the corner, there was nothing wrong with him. With your powers- you could painfully kill a person without showing a mark.”
You hadn’t even realized when you had stood up, but flinched back violently, as if struck, “You think I would kill him?” You whispered with tears forming in your eyes against your will.
Allison pursed her lips and averted her gaze when you desperately looked around for help, making you realize that she was uncertain as well.
“Wow,” You breathed out tearfully, shaking your head back and forth softly before shuffling out of the room.
“Y/n, wait-“
“Good job, Luther.” Diego scoffed and hit his shoulder against his brothers as he trailed after you, “Way to lead.”
I should not be left to my own devices
Somehow, not too long after leaving the living room, you ended up in the courtyard surrounded by your sibling, gazing up with wide eyes at something floating in the sky.
“What is it?”
“Don’t get too close!” Allison called, moving to place her arm in front of you and Vanya, who had your mouths dropped open and took unconscious steps forward.
“Yeah, no shit!” Diego yelled back over the wind, eyes glared against the harsh wind whipping straight at all of you.
Per usual, everyone kept shouting back and forth at one another about what to do, and in doing so, Allison dropped her arm and you were able to slowly creep forward.
Just then, someone fell out of the thing in the sky, landing in a heap right in front of your feet, but everyone was too busy glaring at each other to notice.
“Guys…” You called back cautiously, “Does anyone else see little Number Five, or is that just me?”
They come with prices and vices
You sat on the stairs with your head in your hands, still trying to wrap your mind around everything.
At the beginning of the day, you had come back home expecting to say your goodbyes and possibly even make peace with your father. But now, your long lost brother is back, and not only that, but he claims to have been way older than any of you, whilst being stuck in the body of his thirteen year old self.
“Hey, n/n,” Said brother greeted, strolling over to where you sat with one hand in his pocket and the other holding a sandwich.
You linked your fingers behind your head and tried to smile at him, but you had no doubt that it came out as a grimace, “Five.” You greeted.
Before his disappearance, Five had been the only one who truly was never afraid of you. Even if Diego claimed not to be now, you knew he was still slightly wary, and with good reason too.
“I take it things didn’t go well after I left?” He asked, plopping down onto the stairs beside you.
A small chuckle left your lips at his bluntness. Same old Five.
“No,” You agreed, “They never stopped being scared of me. And I never stopped being scared of myself.” You admitted.
He had always been the only one you could tell everything to about yourself without the fear of judgment.
The two of you fell into a silence that consisted of him munching on his sandwich thoughtfully, “You know,” Five spoke up once he had polished it off, “I think the others have always been more intimidated by you than anything.”
Your eyebrows went up, “How so?” You never really saw yourself as an intimidating individual.
“Because you’re so much more powerful than we all are… and the old man knew that.” He stood up and gave you a tight lipped smile, patting you once on your clothed shoulder and disappearing up the stairs, leaving you to dwell in your thoughts.
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
Allison placed a finger over her mouth to signal for you and Vanya to stay silent from where your backs were pressed up against a wall opposite of her.
A large figure in a mask came creeping through the door that you stood on either side of with a large gun resting in his grip, making your heart tighten.
Right on cue, your sister lunged out, kneeing him in the stomach and punching him in the face the second he doubled over in pain.
Quickly, you ushered Vanya out of the room and made sure she was a safe distance away before spinning on your heel to face Allison and the man, the two now throwing punches at one another with the gun discarded to the side.
Without hesitation, you dove at the man and jumped onto his back, throwing him off balance and sending him to the ground.
When he fell, Allison reeled her foot back and sent it straight into his head, effectively knocking him out cold.
For a moment, the two of you just stood there, panting and trying to catch your breaths.
“You know, Y/n,” She spoke up, surprising you, “I don’t actually think you killed dad. I would never think that of you. I was just in shock that Luther would say such a thing that I didn’t know how to react. A-and I’m sorry for not saying anything when he accused you and I know I should have-“
“Allison.” You cut her off gently, “It’s okay.”
She visibly relaxed as if a weight had been taken off of her shoulders, “And listen, I know you think we all hate you,” She took a step forward and slowly placed a hand on your shoulder, eyes searching yours for any sign that you were uncomfortable with the close proximity. “But we don’t, I promise you we don’t. You were just always isolated from us by dad- and I’m not saying it isn’t partially our fault- because it is, but we’re not kids anymore so there’s no excuse for how we acted. I’m sorry.”
First Diego with the apologies, Klaus acting like everything was normal, and then Allison. You couldn’t believe that your siblings were actually trying to make up with you.
Similarly to how when your brother first talked to you like this, tears began to form in your eyes and you smiled up at her, “T-thank you, Allison. That- that means a lot.”
She shook her head gently, “I’m just sorry that it took so long for me to be able to say it.”
I wake up screaming from dreaming
You gasped, shooting upright with heavy pants as you tried to regain your breathing and keep it under control.
You have been through this routine enough times to know what to do so well that it’s almost like second nature to you at this point.
“Y-Y/n?”
Your head snapped up at the sound of Vanya's voice. She stood in the slightly opened doorway of your childhood room, where you had just been sleeping.
“Vanya,” You breathed out, leaning your back against your headboard, “What’s up?” You swallowed thickly and tried to seem as normal as possible.
The woman hesitated, “I… I left something here so I came back for it but I heard a scream…”
You let a breath loose and allowed your head to fall back, “Sorry,” You apologized in a whisper.
She shook her head back and forth vigorously, “No, no, it’s not your fault. I get it… I get nightmares too…”
You lulled your head to the side and looked at her, “Yeah?”
She nodded, hesitantly shuffling into the room before slowly sitting down on the end of your bed when you moved your feet for her.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” She asked gently.
It was then your turn to shake your head, “No, no, it’s nothing I can’t handle- nothing I’m not used to.” You reassured.
“Well… I’m here if you ever need anything.”
You smiled softly, “Thank you, Vanya.”
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
“Five?” You looked up from your plate filled to the brim with breakfast foods your mother had cooked for you as you watched your brother swiftly walk by, “What’s going on?”
“I need to run an errand.” He answered curtly, “I’ll be back soon.”
Anxiety began to set in the pit of your stomach, “O-oh, do you want me to come with you?”
He quickly shook his head back and forth, “There’s no need, it could be dangerous.”
That made the fear double inside of you, “Are you sure you have to go?” You saw him freeze in his steps when he heard the worry seeping through your tone.
He sighed softly and turned around to face you, “It’ll be fine, I’ll be back soon. I promise.”
You gnawed on your bottom lip, “It’s just… you didn’t come back once. What’s to say it won’t happen again?”
“Me.” He reassured you, “I say that it won’t happen again. I won’t let it. I promise.”
With that, he gave you one last of his rare smiles and continued out of the kitchen.
'Cause you got tired of my scheming (For the last time)
“Oh, sorry,” You mumbled, eyes immediately turning downwards the second you entered the living room, “I didn’t realize anyone was in here-“
“Y/n.” Luther immediately shot up from where he had been sitting on the couch, “No, I’m glad you’re here.” Your quick steps to exit the room paused, “We should talk.” He cleared his throat.
You eyed him hesitantly, “About what?”
“I’m sorry for saying that you killed dad!” He blurted out, cheeks turning red as he spoke, “It’s- it’s just that I was so upset and I didn’t know what really happened so I was creating scenarios that I didn’t even want to come true and-“ He stopped himself and took a deep breath to calm down, “And I know that it’s not an excuse, but I’m still very sorry for saying that you would ever be capable of something like that.”
You stayed silent for a moment before slowly nodding your head, “It’s okay,” You said softly, “I forgive you.”
“Really?” He sighed in relief, “Good, because I was scared for a moment there because I was acting like such an ass and-“
“Luther.” You tried to push away the small smile that threatened to grace your face, “I already said it’s fine, just leave it.”
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me
“We’re like outcast buddies!”
You looked over at Klaus with a raised eyebrow at his words.
The two of you sat on the stools near the bar in your living room, sipping on some concoction of alcohol that was no doubt older than both of you combined and would have given your father a heart attack at seeing if he was still alive.
“I’m pretty sure all of our siblings are outcasts.” You reminded him.
He sat there, pondering your words for a moment before signing and swirling his straw in his drink, “No, no, I suppose you’re right.” He frowned a little bit and slumped his shoulders slightly.
“Do you… want to be outcast buddies?” You asked hesitantly, eyeing your brother.
Immediately, he perked up with a large grin, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” He shrieked, “We can start a club! We can print t-shirts! We can invite new members-“
You chuckled, sitting back and watching in amusement as your brother got excited over seemingly nothing.
At tea time, everybody agrees
“Thanks for the food, mom, it looks delicious.” You said sincerely.
The woman smiled softly and reached over to cup your cheek, and you immediately leaned further into the touch. Because she wasn’t actually human, she could touch you without consequence. And though you knew it wasn’t the same as if another person touched you, you still took what you could get because it was all that you would get, even if it wasn’t real.
“Of course, sweetie.” She answered with that wide, kind smile of hers gently removing her hand after a moment and leaning down to place a ghost kiss on your forehead, making your eyelids flutter shut.
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
“It’s really weird to look at, isn’t it?” Five asked, walking up and standing beside you, gazing up at the wall.
It was a portrait of you and all your siblings, before Fives disappearance and Ben’s death, hanging in some random of the many hallways of the home.
“It is.” You agreed with a sigh, eyes taking it all in.
The way Five was the only one standing even remotely close to you in the painting didn’t escape your attention. Nor did the way everyone but him seemed to have their bodies angled away from you just slightly.
You forced yourself to tear your eyes away and you cleared your throat, “Do you ever wonder what it would be like if we never had these powers?” You asked suddenly.
It had been a thought that had been eating away at you since you were at least seven, never having been voiced out loud by you.
“I try not to dwell on it,” Your brother admitted, “‘Cause there’s nothing we can do to change it.”
Despite his words, you allowed yourself, just for a moment, to picture what it would be like. To be able to hug people and shake hands without them having to worry for their life. To not be the scariest, most deadly person in any room you stood in.
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
All around you, walls were crumbling down and falling every which way. Each small piece of flying debris threatening to hit you.
Not so gracefully, you stumbled through the shaking building, blindly grasping onto the walls for support as you watched in horror as the house came apart all around you for reasons unknown to you.
“Y/n!” You whipped around at the sound of Luther, Allison, and Diego each calling your name and you began sprinting in their direction at the opposite end of the hall.
They each took a large step back when you neared though, causing you to pause, despite the fact that you needed to push on so that you didn’t get hit.
“What is it? What’s happening to-“ You began asking anxiously
“What did you do?” Luther’s words and tone of horror made the rest of your sentence die in your throat.
“How could you do something like this?” Allison whispered, and despite all the chaos, you somehow were still able to hear her. Her eyes shone with betrayal.
“What?” Your eyebrows furrowed, “What are you talking about?”
“Dad always said that you only reached the tip of the iceberg with your powers.” Diego was glaring at you coldly in a way that made even your heart freeze, “But I never thought you could be capable of something like this.”
“What-“
“Your powers are to destroy.” Luther hissed venomously, “You can kill everything around you, so why can’t you demolish everything in your path as well with just the touch of your bare fingers?”
Your lungs felt like they were collapsing in on themselves, much like the walls around you, “I would never- I can’t even-“
“I can't believe we trusted you.” Allison shook her head and slowly began backing away once more, “We’ll never make that mistake again.”
The other two trailed after her once they threw more harsh glares your way, not even caring as you sank down to your knees in shock, oblivious to the house that was still caving in on itself all around you.
You had nothing to do with this, you had no idea what was happening. How could they think that you did? After everything, all the progress you all made?
Your suspicions that you had first stepped into this house what felt like years ago- when it had only, in reality, been days- were true.
Your siblings truly did hate you.

That Feeling | F.H
Paring: Five Hargreeves X Fem!Reader
Summary: Five has never felt safe with anyone in his life, until her.
Prompt: Buying them something unrequested because it made you think of them.
Five Hargreeves was an ass. There is no way to sugarcoat and no need to. Five Hargreeves was the embodiment of a bitter old man. Supposedly that’s exactly what he was despite his appearance. So when Y/n showed up - a close friend of Klaus - he was not particularly happy with the new arrangements.
The girl - mentally and physically sixteen - easily won over Allison, Vanya, and obviously Klaus, surprisingly even Diego. Luther still seemed hesitant, but Five was distant. He was staying as far away from the girl as he could. Five was cold and bitter - kept to himself.
During the day, Y/n worked as a barista at a coffee shop, and during the evenings, she’d come to the Umbrella Academy estate with baked goods from her shop. Five wouldn’t admit it, but his heart always got warmed at the sight of a coffee and donut just for him. Both items sat on the kitchen table with a note - always different.
“Five’s stuff.”
It made him smile that despite never talking to her that she always made an effort to make him happy. That’s just how Y/n was, though—constantly making sacrifices and decisions to make other people happy despite her own feelings.
Y/n would sit through movies she’d seen just to see Vanya light up. She’d come to events with Allison - despite her intense dislike for populated places - just to see her complete her goals. She’d make an effort to attend Diego’s boxing matches to cheer him on, even if she didn’t want to spend her Saturday in a sweaty gym. Y/n would let Klaus rant for days about his past lover even if it made her uncomfortable because the one she loved didn’t love her back. Hell, she sat with Luther in the living room, letting him lecture her about the moon.
Five realized then how much she was willing to put before herself—the complete opposite of him. For the most part, Five always put himself first but seeing her put everyone before her. Maybe it made him reconsider his decisions. Little steps, he’d find her backpack and leave index cards with messages in his signature handwriting.
“You made my day today.”
“Thank you for the donut.”
“I hope you had a good day.”
He’d leave different messages on the five by 3-inch index card. Y/n wouldn’t admit it, but it made her cheeks blossom with magenta and her stomach fill with butterflies. It would warm her even on the coldest snowy days and race her heart to the max. Five’s notes meant the world to her even if he didn’t know it - and he didn’t. Five Hargreeves had no idea what he was doing. He had no idea he was playing with her feelings.
On occasion, he’d visit her at her work. Five would sit at a booth with his notebook and pen - a pen she got for him during a Christmas - just sitting there working on equations. Most people would believe that Five hated snowy days, but that couldn’t be any more false, and it was because of her. He adored the way snowflakes littered her hair. The way she took off her hat and tried to flatten her hair. The flush of her cheeks. The way she applied chapstick to her lips every hour. He’d do anything to know what it tasted like on her lips.
Would it be Cherry? Maybe strawberry. No, she despised strawberry. It had to be mint. Y/n loved peppermint. He noticed the way her drinks changed. During the fall, a pumpkin spice. During the winter, peppermint mocha. During the spring, iced latte. During the summer, iced cold brew. Five noticed, he noticed everything about her.
On the fifth week, Y/n decided to sit with him during her break, “Afternoon, Hargreeves.”
Y/n slid him a coffee and donut, “Afternoon, L/n.”
“So, come to stalk me at work? Couldn’t take being away from me?” Y/n teased, and Five’s cheeks lit aflame, “I like the shop. I didn’t know you worked here at first.” He lied.
Y/n quirked an eyebrow, “You never read the coffee shop name on your cup when I brought you home coffee?”
“No.”
“Interesting.”
Silence. Beautiful, peaceful silence aside from the chatter in the store. But silence between the two. Five found great pleasure in silence, particularly her silence. Y/n’s presence alone could make him feel jittery yet focused at the same time. She made his heart race and cheeks turn pink. How could she do that? No one had managed that before. It made him wonder how he kept his distance for so long. She’d been coming around the mansion since she was fourteen, and now they were both sixteen.
“Whatcha working on?”
Five snapped out of his reverie, “Equations.”
“For?” Y/n gestured.
“Time travel.”
Y/n tilted her head, intrigued, “Time travel, huh? You planning on leaving us?”
“No, never. I’ve already done it once. I’ll never do it again.” Five confessed, letting his walls slip momentarily, hoping she didn’t notice, but she did.
“What happened the first time around?”
Five gave her a look, eyes glossed, hands unable to keep still, “Apocalypse.” The word was barely whispered, but she knew.
“No need to continue; it hurts you. I can tell. But when you’re ready, we can talk, okay?” Y/n replied, placing her hands over his fidgeting ones.
She began to rise from the table, but Five needed this - he needed her, “Wait, please. I want to talk about it.”
Y/n slipped back into the booth without a sound, “It was awful. There was nothing around, and everything was on fire.” It was impossible to keep his hands still now, “I saw my siblings dead. I had gone seventeen years in the future into the world completely obliterated.”
“I- I stayed there. For forty-some years until a woman showed up telling me, she had a job for me. I didn’t- I didn’t know the job was going to make me a killing machine. So for barely five years, I killed people. When I got my equations right.” He motioned to the notebook in front of him, “Or I thought I had them right I time travel back home to save the world. I saved the world twice before coming home to peace.”
Through explaining, not a tear had dropped, maybe talking did make things better, “A year later, Klaus invited you over. Then you came around a lot more. I didn’t know how to feel. But even after me being a dick to you, you still left me coffee and donuts.”
“You were so kind, and I didn’t know how to embrace it. I didn’t want to ruin you.”
Y/n chuckled, “You’d never ruin me. Now-“ Y/n stood from the table, “My break is over, but we can talk at the Academy, okay?”
Five nodded and hummed. Y/n leaned over and kissed his forehead, “Good.”
He felt giddy, and he didn’t know why. But the moment her lips were placed on his forehead, he was overwhelmed with a certain happiness. It flooded his body like a dam breaking - crashed in without warning. Five’s cheeks turned just the slightest bit red, and his hands moved constantly. His leg going up and down at a rapid pace. For the first time, Five felt shy.
Regardless, moments later, Five packed up all his stuff and left for the Academy. His room felt dull compared to every other place in the house. Of course, it bared toys from when he was a boy that he never parted with and equations on the walls, but it felt so depressing - so bleak.
It was hours later when Y/n announced her entrance. But it made Five almost jump with joy as usual Y/n placed down her belongings on the kitchen table along with pastries and coffees. Klaus and Allison shortly made their way into the room. Allison reached for the beverage with her name on it while Klaus kissed Y/n’s cheek.
“You are a doll.”
Y/n chuckled, “Hush and eat your doughnuts.”
“Mm!” Allison exclaimed happily, “How do you always know what I’m craving?”
“I have many talents.”
“Like curing Number Five assholery?” Klaus teased.
Five halted his movements and stayed hidden beside the kitchen, “Five’s sweet.” Y/n retorted, making Allison scoff.
“Five is not sweet.”
“I beg to differ.”
“Beg to differ all you want.” Klaus replied, “But he’s just as bitter as his coffee.”
The chatter seized after that. Assuming Klaus dug into the doughnuts and Allison sipping her drink. Y/n slipped away unnoticed by the duo but not by Five. He noticed everything. Eventually, she came up to his room, where he quickly spatial jumped inside.
“Hey, Five.” Y/n greeted, “Hey.”
“I know you may not want to, but would you like to continue our conversation from earlier?”
“I’d love that.” Five smiled.
Y/n took her seat on his desk chair while Five sat at the foot of his bed. He explained everything. From letter A all the way to letter Z. No cracks were left, and every hole was filled. Five didn’t get sidetracked while telling a story; he stayed focused and determined. Y/n was a fantastic listener. Five learned. She didn’t interrupt or make any judgments. She just listened.
It felt like bricks had been lifted from his shoulders when he released an air of breath after reciting the story. Y/n’s coffee had gone frigid, and her back began to hurt from the position in the chair, but it was worth it because she was getting to know him.
They ended up on his bed. His head was on her chest as she ran her fingers through his brunet hair. It felt like the purest silk and the softest fleece. It was cool to the touch, and her movements made Five extremely sleepy. Maybe she wasn’t as bad as he thought. Perhaps Five felt like a dog warming up to someone entering his territory. But right now, she felt like home.
“I’ve never felt this safe before.” Five confessed quietly, so quiet Y/n almost didn’t hear him, “I feel- I feel at home.”
“Get some rest, pretty boy. We can talk about this later.”
Five’s cheeks flushed and turned a brilliant red. The tips of his ears were the slightest pink and his neck clouded with cotton Candy pink. Suddenly his face was hot to the touch, and he couldn’t stop smiling. There was that feeling again - the feeling he couldn’t name but could only describe. He felt like a boy again, that naive little boy with nothing but ambition. Y/n would bring out the best of him, and perhaps for once, Five could feel solace.

“Uh guys,” Klaus said. “We might have another problem!”
“Ah, shit,” Five said. You follow after him, peeking over his shoulder.
“Who are they?”
“One’s the Handler, and the other is Diego’s girlfriend.”
“Lila, my ex-girlfriend,” Diego corrects.
“You know what? Doesn’t matter. They both look angry,” Luther observed.
“Yeah, well, your brother has that effect on people,” You snort.
Five kicks you in the shin for that. You let out a yelp and glare at him. He grins to himself before walking forward, “All right, I’m gonna go find out what they want. You guys stay here with Vanya and the kid.”
“I’m coming with you, too. Come on,” Diego said, stepping out with Five.
“Me too,” You chimed in, offering Five a small smile. The boy just rolls his eyes at you.
“You just have to follow me everywhere, don’t you?”
“Yup.”
The three of you stop in front of the Handler and Lila, nothing that they were both very unhappy. Except, Lila’s anger was directed more towards Five and not her ex.
“I love the smell of country air, don’t you, darling?” The Handler asked.
“Makes me wanna vomit,” Lilia deadpanned.
Five glances between the two. “What do you want?”
“To watch you suffer,” Lila replied.
You shrug. “Well, don’t we all.”
“What about me?” Diego asked.
“You’re not even worth my wrath.”
You raise your eyebrows at him. “Ouch, downgraded there, buddy.”
“Can you just shut up?” Five sneered, looking at you.
“Not with your dumbass around.”
“Easy, we’re here on official business,” The Handler broke in.
Five turns back to her. “And what business is that?”
“As the head of the commission, I’ve decided to eliminate the criminals responsible for the assassination of the former board of directions.”
“Yeah, right,” Diego scoffs. “We didn’t kill the board.”
“Well,” You said, dragging out the L.
“Uh, actually, Diego. That’s not entirely accurate,” Five mumbled, hands in his pockets.
The Handler tilts her head. “You didn’t tell them?”
“What the hell did you two do?” Diego demanded.
“What we had to go to get our family home,” Five said. “Until someone reneged on our deal.”
“Somebody wouldn’t have reneged on the deal if someone could’ve met a simple deadline. Alas.”
“You set us up to fail!”
“You set yourselves up to fail, friend — you and your brothers and sisters. Kind of the running theme of your little life, isn’t it?” The Handler chuckled.
Diego turns to Five with a shake of his head. “Dude, I can’t believe you killed the board of directions. You have no idea how messed up the commission is right now.”
“Messed up? Who’s saying that?”
“Everybody — Christ, even the janitors think it’s going to shit.”
“That’s not all he killed,” Lila suddenly spoke.
“What are you talking about?” Five snapped.
“Don’t play dumb, you prepubescent piece of shit.”
You scoff at her. “Okay, crazy lady, why don’t you shut your mouth? Only I get to talk to him like that.”
Five raises his eyebrows at you. He’s not sure if he should be offended or flattered by what you said. Though, he goes with offended because it came out of your mouth, and anything you say is stupid.
Like your stupid face. He hates it. That stupid smile that makes his heart skip a beat and your stupid little half-grin you always give him and only him.
It was disgusting.
For sure.
“Enough. The point is, all of you are going to die today. Hm?” The Handler cut you off.
“Oh,” Diego clicks his tongue. “Well, I don’t like your chances — seven of us, two of you.”
“You know, you’re right. Let’s change that.” The Handler snaps her fingers, and thousands of people blink into view. All of them carry briefcases and guns.
You let out a low breath. “Well, shit.”
“So, what do we do now?”
“Well, we got two choices: Fight and die now or run and die later. Either way, we’re food for worms,” Five said, rolling his shoulders.
“What’ll it be, boys?”
“Wouldn’t mind a few more minutes breathing air through the old windbags.”
“All right. Let’s get this over with, shall we?” The Handler grins, raising a red handkerchief.
“Run!” Five shouts, grabbing your arm and taking you with him.
Diego ducks, using his hands to cover his head. “We’re not gonna make it!”
Five huffs, grabbing Diego’s wrist and suddenly blinking you closer to the barn.
Diego groans. “Five, I think I’m gonna puke.”
“Diego, you puke, and I’ll puke,” You replied, flinching as bullets bounced off the tractor you’d hidden behind.
“What now?” Five questioned, peeking out from behind and ducking as bullets whiz past him.
“We blink into the house?” You suggested, gesturing towards the building with your hands.
Five narrows his eyes at you before grabbing you and Diego and trying to blink you away. His fists turn blue, but nothing happens, just warbling. “Shit, I’m out of fuel. I’m too tired.”
“Go! I’ll… I’ll cover for you two,” Diego said, standing up.
“What?” You shake your head. “Diego—”
But he’s already stepped out, stopping all the bullets and holding them there. “Go!”
Five doesn’t have to be told twice. He grabs your wrist and makes a dash for the building. Once inside, he shoves you under the table following after.
“A little harsh, don’t you think?”
“I just saved your life, dipshit.”
“Didn’t ask you to.”
Five just clicks his tongue. “Well, too bad. You’re welcome to step out and get shot.”
There’s silence, and you frown at Five. “Why do you hate me?”
“I—”
Before Five can answer, a high-pitched ringing sound is heard, and he puts his arm around you.
“What are you doing?” You shout over the noise.
But in seconds, the house begins to shake, and debris falls from the roof as Five covers you with his body. Which was odd considering his earlier comments. A loud crash is heard, and Luther hits the ground with a thud.
Five lets go of you, scrambling from under the table and going towards his brother. “Luther, you all right?”
“Oh, I think I swallowed my tongue,” he moans, rolling over.
Five rolls his eyes. “Luther, if you swallowed your tongue, you wouldn’t be talking, you big moron.”
“That and you’d be choking,” You added, standing beside Five.
He lends a hand to Luther, hauling him up to his feet. “Come on, on your feet.”
Luther groans with the effort but steadies himself. “Hey, what the hell happened? What was that?”
“She must’ve redirected Vanya’s energy wave.”
“Yeah, I know, but how?”
Something cracks above you, and you feel yourself harshly shoved to the side, knocking against the wall as the bricks from the fireplace crash down onto Five.
“Watch out!”
“Five!” You scream, but then Lila enters the room, and you decide to remain tucked in the corner. Five was fine, probably.
Not like you cared… at least, you tried not to.
“What are you?” Luther asked.
Lila cracks her neck. “Someone who wants to kill your brother.”
“Well, that’s understandable. Diego can be a lot to handle.”
“Yeah, I was talking about Five.”
You roll your eyes at their exchange. Who did this lady think she was?
“Him, too,” Luther pauses, “but unfortunately, they’re family, so you’re shit out of luck.”
He swings a punch at her, but she catches it, causing his eyes to go wide.
“How is this possible?”
“Gotta believe in yourself, big boy,” Lila taunts before throwing him out the opposite wall. She follows after him, and you take your chance to get towards Five.
You pull at the bricks, trying not to panic when there’s no sound. “C’mon, Five,” You mumble. Suddenly a hand springs out, grabbing yours, and you yank the boy hard.
He lands on top of you, blood dripping from his head, but otherwise, very much alive. You sigh in relief, blinking harshly.
“Are you okay?” You asked softly as he rolls off of you.
He nods, looking anywhere but you. “I’m fine.”
You frown at his curt reply, but that was Five. What more was there to expect? He made it very clear he didn’t like you.
Something shuffles behind you, and you turn your head to see Lila again.
Five stands up, bringing you with him. “Looking for me?” He asks.
“Five—,” You start. He just looks at you, eyes pleading, and for some reason, you listen. Lila’s eyes flicker towards you, but before anything else happens, Five blinks in front of her.
“Don’t look at her. Look at me,” He said. “You wanna fight? Let’s fight.”
Both disappear in a flash of blue, leaving you alone in the wrecked house. You step through the hole in the wall, looking for the other siblings to see if you can be of help. You rush over to the group of them, lifting a tractor off of Diego.
“Yeah, but she can only mirror one of our powers at a time,” Klaus said with a raised finger.
“Who, Lila?” You asked.
Allison nods. “You sure about that?”
“Okay, I’m not sure about that, but she can only mirror it if we use it first, right? That’s confirmed.”
Everyone mumbles in agreement.
“So we just need to… not use our powers?”
“Maybe, and if we catch her like that, we can question her about her powers and stuff. Maybe she knows more about this than us.”
“Yeah, but first, we need to find her,” Diego said.
“She disappeared with Five,” You said, pointing towards the barn. “And I’m gonna assume those flashes of blue light are them.”
“Cause you’re one of us,” Diego spoke, stepping into the barn first. You follow with all his siblings, catching Five’s eye and moving towards him.
“What happened to you?” You asked.
He just scoffs. “Nothing I couldn’t handle.”
“Really? Cause you sure look like you had your ass handed to you.”
Five rolls his eyes. “Did you just come here to insult me?”
You shrug. “Why else?”
To check that you’re okay, to make sure you’re alive because I love you.
You miss the slight frown on Five’s lips after you said that.
“You don’t know me, Diego,” Lila spat, knife touching his chest.
Diego just smiles. “Don’t I? I know that we can be your family if you just let us.”
Lila glances around the room, and you offer her a small smile despite her antics to kill Five. Five gives her a tight-lipped smile, stepping closer to you and unknowingly brushing your shoulders together.
It happens in a split second. You heard the first gunshot, and you saw Allison fly to the floor. And yet, in slow motion, you can see the bullet heading for Five, and out of instinct, you shove him harshly to the ground before shortly following.
Pain floods your entire system as warm blood soaks your clothes. You turn your head to meet Five’s eyes as he lays next to you.
“Hey,” You breathed out before coughing up blood.
“You fucking idiot,” Five whispered, crawling towards you.
“I’m dying, and that’s all you can say?” You scoff, trying to cover the hurt. You didn’t know what to expect after saving his life, but it wasn’t that. But knowing he was alive was enough for you. Five was a hero, after all. You just hoped he knew a way to fix this.
Five just shakes his head, a hand brushing a piece of hair behind your ear. “No, I… there’s so much I want to tell you, but I can’t.”
You laugh. “You can’t, or you won’t?”
“I don’t know how.”
“You don’t know how to love?”
Five’s eyes turn glassy as he nods. “I’ve been alone for so long… I’m sorry, (Y/N). I’m so sorry. I never hated you. I always—”
“It’s okay, Five,” You cut him off, coughing harshly again as more bullets are heard. Five doesn’t look up to see Lila crumble to the floor.
“You’re crying,” You mumbled, hand finding his. There’s comfort in it, knowing that as you’re dying, Five’s comforting you. He’s holding you. That’s all you really ever wanted.
“I know,” Five admits. “Why would you do that?”
“Because I love you, even if you’re not ready to love me back.”
More tears slip down Five’s face, and he brushes them off your paling cheeks. He doesn’t know what to do. Your breath keeps getting shallower, your eyes don’t stay open anymore, and you just sound like you’re in pain. He wants to tell you everything. He never hated you. He just didn’t know how to love you. Maybe he didn’t want to in case this happened.
He was used to solitude, and he was sure he liked it until he met you.
He needed you.
Five opens his mouth to tell you he’s ready when someone else speaks.
“Oh, good. You’re still alive. Lucky you, you get to see how this all played out.”
The Handler raises her gun at Five, but before anything happens, she’s shot down by Axel. She falls limp by Five’s side, and he turns back towards you.
“(Y/N),” he starts before he realizes you're gone.
He falls back in horror, realizing he never got to tell you he loves you too.
Memories flood his brain, clouding his visions, and he can hear you laughing in some of them, smiling at him, caring for him when he never did the same. You didn’t deserve that. He always knew he loved you, but showing it was so much harder than he expected. But in the thirty seconds, you’ve been gone, Five realizes he has to push that to the side. He misses you, his family, and his future.
“Start small. Seconds, not decades.”
Five offers one more look at you and realizes what he has to do. His hands turn blue as he begins to reverse the last minute.
It’s like déjà vu, but as predicted, the Handler walks in, and Five snatches the gun from her. He points it at her and she raises her hand in defeat.
“It’s true, isn’t it? What Five said,” Lila shouted. “Answer me, is it true?”
“Well,” The Handler starts before being shot down.
Your eyes widen at the sight of blood dripping from her mouth, looking towards Five dropping his gun.
Lila runs towards the briefcase, followed by Luther and Diego.
Five, however, speaks to the Swede. “Enough.”
The man echoes it back and leaves.
As soon as he’s gone, it’s like time starts again as the siblings begin to talk. Diego and Luther already arguing, but Five just rushes towards you.
You’re startled when he hugs you tightly, one arm around your waist and the other on the back of your head.
“Five?” You ask.
He shakes his head. “I’m ready.”
“Ready for what?” You ask with a chuckle.
Five swears he's never heard anything better than that. He takes a while with his response, eyes tracing your face and taking in all your beauty.
“Ready to love you.”
Your eyes widen at his statement, but he just cups your face tenderly and kisses you. You melt into his arms, falling into them easily. His thumb rubs small circles on your cheeks before pulling back and resting his forehead on yours.
“Why the sudden change? Thought you hated me.”
Five just smiles. “I never hated you.”
“I never hated you either.”
“I know,” Five said smugly. “You were pretty obvious about it.”
You narrow your eyes at him. “Thin ice, Five.”
He just kisses you again. “Love you, sorry.”
“Mhmm.”

it started when you were ten
because when you were ten, diego was a twenty year-old freshly kicked out of the police academy for his "issues with authority"
and you were a scrappy little homeless kid glaring stubbornly at the corner store owner yelling at you for trying to swipe some food
and when diego looked at you, he was struck by the memory of being a teenager flipping off his dad during hours spent locked inside a tank of water private training
out of sympathy, he couldn't help but step in
"there you are! mom and i have been looking for you everywhere." he turned to the owner apologetically. "i'm sorry, she always runs off whenever we go out. i'll pay for it for her. she's probably just hungry."
he wasn't the best liar; that was allison, but the owner stopped short long enough to narrow his eyes and look between you and diego
"you're her...?"
"brother," diego insisted, before remembering (as he often forgot, having grown up the way he did) that most siblings looked very similar except when... "we're adopted."
the owner looked unconvinced, but since diego was paying, he let it go
when the two of you were out, diego held out the small plastic bowl filled with cereal you were trying to swipe, and before you could grab it and run off, he asked, "do you want real food instead of this junk?"
you sized him up, eyes wide and discerning
he would have been okay with rejection—you didn't know him and all—but you caught him off-guard when you said, "you're one of those heroes, right?"
most people didn't recognize him without the mask and especially without the uniform, so he gaped at you for a moment before you explained, "yeah, you're the one who rarely speaks in the interviews. i always listen... listened when you did. i know your voice. diego, isn't it?"
part of him wanted to laugh that of all his qualities, his voice was most recognizable to you
the very part of himself he struggled with most
but he just gave a half-smile and nodded
"that's me. don't tell anyone. i'm kinda out of the hero business for now. so, food. yes or no?"
you nodded, and you walked up to him and took his hand as easily as if he were your big brother
and that was the moment he knew he was gone
because he'd never had a little sibling
the closest he'd had were klaus, ben, and vanya, but they were all the same age as him
and when it came to their dad, he couldn't do much to stop dad from taking klaus away for days at a time, calling ben weak and pushing him to let Them out, reminding vanya that she was ordinary and therefore essentially worthless help any of them
besides, klaus and ben had always been closer to each other than anyone else, and vanya had always been closest to five before—
well. the point was: he'd never been a big brother
he'd never been the oldest one who knew what to do and took charge and kept a little sibling safe
but when you talked with him and explained how your dad had left, and your mom had a screaming breakdown at you until you ran and never stopped like five did four years ago
he wanted to be a big brother more than ever before
so he offered for you to stay with him for as long as you felt safe to
he got a blow-up mattress and used a room divider to give you your own space
and actually, the longer he took care of you, he ended up taking better care of himself
he tried to recall the days when he spent his little bit of free time helping mom cook dinner
sometimes that didn't always end so well
"diego... you tried really hard, and it looks great, but this..."
"it's way too salty, i know. i'll make us turkey sandwiches."
but over time he really improved and even relented from being a super huge health freak
he got you proper clothes because he ones you'd been wearing and caring had been less about comfort or style and more about desperation
and ended up getting some things for himself
"that is... so... brightly colored," he'd slowly said as you brought over a sunny yellow shirt covered in sunflowers and bumblebees
"you could use some bright colors," you sniffed while putting the shirt in the cart. "like green. or orange! try orange instead of black for once."
he laughed in disbelief. "i am not getting fashion advice from someone who wants these cargo pants."
you gasped, scooping up the brown cargo pants he was gesturing towards. "they have more pockets! i would think you'd appreciate that!"
"why would i appreciate pockets?"
you crossed your arms and looked at him knowingly
"how many knives do you have on you right now?"
he honestly had to take a moment to think about the answer
"... shut up and pick something to wear for when the weather warms up."
but when you stayed for long enough, he knew he had to do something
"so," he started when he sat you down at dinner one night almost a year into this arrangement
you looked up at him, sensing that this was going to be an important conversation by his nervousness
but then when he saw you sit up a bit straighter and look at him seriously, he got even more nervous and blurted out, "i'm thinking about moving."
"oh."
that was all you said at first, and when you looked down at your food with your mouth pressed in a tight line, he knew that wasn't the right way to phrase it
"i found an apartment," he explained, leaning in with a smile to try to catch your eye, "a two-bedroom apartment that's bigger than this boiler room. i mean, it's still a place in the city, so it's not huge, but i think it'll be a lot better for you to have your own room instead of using the shades around—"
you coughed, almost choking on air, cutting him off
"you still want to take me with you?!" you asked in quiet astonishment, your eyes wide
he nodded, reaching over to pat you on the shoulder
"of course i do. i'm not gonna leave behind my little sister."
it had been a running joke between the two of you since that first day, even though diego took it a little more seriously
your eyes were still teary, and he didn't know what else he could do to make you feel better
until you got up and threw your arms around his middle
"thank you," you said, trying not to cry on him. "thank you for everything."
he hugged you back
"hey, don't be so eager to thank me. if we're gonna really stick with this, we have to talk about getting you back into school."
and despite your groans at the mention of school, he saw a hint of a smile while the two of you finished dinner
Tumblr media
after contacting patch and asking around, he figured the easiest and fastest way to go was to get ahold of allison and swear that this is the only time i'll ever ask you for anything, no it doesn't have to do with getting an autograph because you're famous now, can you rumor a few people so that i can get legitimate paperwork in order to legally have custody of this homeless kid i found on the street a year ago?
she had questions but otherwise seemed like she had other stuff to worry about at the moment with her wedding coming up and so agreed
meanwhile diego was also trying to ignore your calls from your bedroom that you were doing just fine without school, thank you very much, diego, until he couldn't
"one second, please," he said into the phone to pause allison's confused reply before he called back, "oh, really? so if i give you a test for a kid your age right now, you'd get all the questions right?"
"diego, i don't think you could pass a test for a kid my age in school." pausing in the middle of decorating your new room, you poked your head out of your room and furrowed your brow. "did you even go to school?"
he shot you a look before replying with finality, "you're going."
"noooo—"
"sorry, as the world's best big brother, i have to make sure you get a proper education."
on the other end of the phone, he could hear allison snorting to herself as he saw you laughing
and in near-perfect synchronicity, he heard the words twice:
"who made you the world's best big brother?"
"i did," diego said into the phone before waving at you to finish decorating in your room. he properly covered the bottom of his phone and lowered it to speak to you without her hearing. "if you need my help with anything, move onto the next thing until i'm free. okay?"
"okay." you remained with your head poking out of the door to your room for a moment longer anyway. "is that really the rumor?"
"yeah." he paused, wanting to get your mind off his conversation with allison just being about school. "she's gonna make it so that even if your parents realize what idiots they were to leave you behind, they won't make you do anything you don't want to ever again."
you perked up. "well, tell her thanks. and thank you, too."
"no problem," he said before going back to talking to allison
neither of you knew much of what parents were supposed to do, but you both worked your way towards sort-of little sister and sort-of big brother trying their best for something normal
until the sort-ofs fell away and you were sincerely calling him your big brother to your school friends and he was sincerely calling you his little sister to his coworkers
when the two of you were more comfortable and settled in this sibling relationship, you both got a bit sillier and touchy with each other
you would hide your face in his arm when cringing at kills in the action films he liked to watch
and he would purposely make a big deal about "giving your big brother a hug" when dropping you off at school if you left his car without doing so
or when you were baking with him, you'd purposely get the extra frosting on him
and he would pay you back by wiping his hands after washing them on you
and then your gym class visited his boxing gym while you were in middle school
while diego, who had thankfully moved up from janitor to trainer, was working
and suddenly all your friends were clamoring to get boxing lessons from him
diego, who'd been bugging you about showing you a thing or two for self-defense's sake if anything ever happened, gave you the biggest shit-eating grin ever
"i don't know why you're looking at me like that," you piped up, putting your hands on your hips, "because i knew you were cool before any of them ever did."
needless to say, you were finally doing those lessons
and they made diego nervous as hell because he didn't want to push you too hard the way he and his other siblings had been pushed
but he started with teaching you how to avoid hits and the other trainers there helped, too
you were kind of a natural at it
"damn, hargreeves," al laughed as diego pushed himself off the ground after you dodged his hit so suddenly that he fell over, "she's fast."
you grinned bashfully, leaning back against the rope behind you. "if there's one thing i've been good at, it's keeping on my feet. had to."
it's only because of your lighthearted expression that diego didn't feel a pang of pain at your words, but with your immediate shift away from thinking about your homelessness to joking with al, diego found himself smiling at how you've moved on from that horrible period in his life before he found you
and he thought back to his own troubles before meeting you
about still recovering from the academy and finding his place in the world
he wasn't completely over it, and he didn't think he ever would be
but now it felt like just another scar to him rather than a wound
and he felt like he could live with it
he felt like he could finally do whatever he wanted and manage anything that reginald never wanted him to be capable of doing
of course, what would happen years later when reginald up and died was another story, but until then? life was good

We're all broken here: five hargreeves and reader.
Tumblr media
Summary: Five is known to say exactly what is on his mind, even if it may hurt someone else. What if he takes it too hard and aim at the one person he really cares about. Will she understand?
A/N: This is just some story focused mostly on family relationships and supporting each other. no romance, just brother-sister stuff. Located somewhere in season 1. no "y/n"s
***
„Shit! Why you gotta be so stupid?!”
This last words echoed through the rooms and hallways of Hargreeves mansion leaving all of the siblings frozen. Despite the fact that Five was the one to use them he already regretted it.
“Eight, I …” he stuttered
“No. You  know what, it’s fine. I’m stupid and you’re mean. Let’s settle here and move on. No sorries, no I didn’t mean it, because for a matter of fact you did mean it.” It took all of her courage and inside strength not to fall apart at this adjective. She was used to being called weak, pathetic, distant, unattractive and plump and that did nothing to her. Aiming at her intelligence however, the only thing she was building her confidence on was just too much. But of course she would never let her idiotic 80somethign year old brother in a kid’s body know that.
“Eight….”
“Save it. We are good. I’m gonna go, but by all means you stay here.”
“Oh, no, honey, wait, wait for me! I’m not leaving you alone with your misery!” Klaus stood up immediately and stumbling a bit followed his sister with a bottle of alcohol in one hand.
“Low blow Five. Really in-style” Alison , aka number three mocked.
“Oh, just shut up and give me a break” Five hissed with clenched fist in his best attempt to teleport back to his room and move on with work and equations that did not make any sense.
“You’re not gonna do this” Diego, number two pointed a knife in his direction. Eight was his favorite sister, always there to calm him down after a fight or to help him with his stuttering or whatever else he had going on and inside he always felt the need to protect her.  She might have been gifted with seeing people’s auras, manipulating their emotions and occasionally getting into their thoughts but she couldn’t use that on herself. And at this moment, surely she had a lot.  “You’re gonna go to her and apologize.”
“I do not have to listen to you, Diego” Five squinted and took a sip of coffee, which was his inherent accessory. “And as a matter of fact, I will not. I’m out.”
“He’s a prick” Luther, number one mumbled with his mouth full when Five excused himself in a flash of blue light. “But that is nothing new.”
“He never was for her” number seven, Vanya shook his head “this whole apocalypse business must have really got into his head if he’s acting like that.”
“Nope” Luther pointed “you seem him differently cause you two always had a connection. But Five is an ass.”
“Hear, hear” Alison nodded
“Hate to say it, but Luther’s right.” Diego stood up.
“Do you think I should check on Klaus and Eight? Don’t know which one will have worse influence on the other.” Vanya was truly the only one who wasn’t afraid to show she cared.
“Leave them be. She can handle herself. In fact, I see Klaus getting advice from her not the other way round. He’s been acting strange lately.”
“Can’t remember the time when he was not.”
***
Meanwhile in eight’s room she was sitting on her bed with legs up to her chest, staring blankly into a space. Well, in fact she was staring at the wall bordering her room from five’s but it was not intentional.
“My lovely sister!” Klaus stumbled into her room and fell on the bed making the girl jump a little. “Do not torture yourself with Five’s words. This is unhealthy.”
“Look who is talking about unhealthy” she smirked pointing towards the bottle “care to share?”
“Um…. Sure, yeah, why not? Here you are.” He took a long sip before passing the alcohol to her “enjoy.”
“Klaus?”
“Yes, dear?”
“It’s empty, you ball of fuzz. You drank the last drops”
“Ups. Sorry.” he grinned “I’m sure you can do without, right?” he hid his face in the bed sheet and groaned
“You left me no choice. Anyway, anything I can do for you, brother?”
“Me?” he raised himself on the elbows and looked straight at her, his hair being a mess, confusion all over his face “Oh, no, I’m fine. I’m fine.”
“Klaus.”
“Yes.”
“I can see your aura, remember? I can feel your emotions.”
“And what do you see, sister my?”
“Brown.” She raised an eyebrow
“You have to be more specific on that.”
“Well, you are either high, but that’s usual or you’ve been dealing with your ghost powers. I bet the latter.”
“I’m working hard you know, I’m trying” he cried “I even let Diego tie me to a chair so I would keep on track”
“So that’s what it was all about. Cute.”
“Don’t mock me” Klaus fell on his back dramatically “It’s exhausting.”
“Sure is. Ben giving you a hard time lately?”
“Not more than usual.” Number six, Ben, died at 17, but was still showing himself to Klaus and on some occasions Eight was capable of feeling his presence and emotions.
“It’s so good that at least you believe me I see him” Klaus grabbed her hand “He’s terrible. Won’t let me do a single thing.”
Liar.
“Oh, shut up, Ben”
“He’s here now? Where?”
Come on, eight, focus. I’m …. right…. here….
“Sitting on the window sill. You feel him?”
“Somewhat. I see yellow from that side. He’s mad. Not sure if It’s about you being a liar or ….”
The other one, obviously. Tell her, Klaus!
“Yeah, it’s about Five. Now, come here, sis. Let me hug you and make the pain go away. You do know you are not stupid, right?”
“Of course I do. But thank you Klaus.” She was more than happy to let her brother embrace her.
***
There was no denying that this damn upcoming apocalypse had an effect on every one of the siblings. Each of them reacted in their own way, leaving Luther and Alison spending the rest of the time together, Diego doing his vigilante shit, Klaus crying his heart out on Eight’s shoulder and Five going crazy. More than usual. Doing stuff he was not supposed too.
“Eight.” It was his best chance to make things right with her, so he appeared inside her room startling Klaus.
“Ah! Five. Don’t do this.”
“Go away. I need a word with her.”
“I don’t know if she….”
“If you don’t leave in like 5 seconds I’m gonna ….”
“Ok, fine, fine. I’m leaving. Jeez, threatening, Five? Seriously? I’m fragile!”
“Get out, Klaus!”
“Come on, Ben. We’re out.”
Nope. I’m staying. This will be interesting.
“Don’t you disobey me, now!” four yelled at the air making both Five and Eight look at him in confusion. Five more than his sister since she saw a bit of red in the air. Ben was angry for being told what to do. She shook her head not sure what to do with three brothers, one dead inside her room.
“You know what, since you all act like lunatics, I’m gonna go. Whoever has a business with me, feel free to join. I’ll get coffee and wait in the garden.
And with that she left Klaus bantering with Ben and dumfounded Five behind.
***
“Come out now, blue, I can see you” couple minutes later she was sitting on the garden bridge, legs hanging from the edge, sipping coffee, watching the street.
“Stop calling me that” Five took a step towards her, hands in pockets, his whole posture a little slouched.
“I can’t help you just radiate this color.”
“And what does that mean to you. Sadness? I am not sad.”
“Of course not. Blue is not sadness, it’s more … thinking, considering. I can almost feel the wheels in your brain turning. So, the question is, what is on your mind to leave you like this?”
“Stop playing around. You know damn well what this is about.”
“Guilt?” she tilted her head
“Don’t push me Eight! You can say it to yourself.”
“Maybe” she refused to look at him “but I want you to express it.”
“I never should have called you that.”
“If that’s what troubles you ….”
“No. Don’t interrupt me!”
“How could I. After all you are older than me.” She fixed her gaze on the tree on the opposite side of the road.
“Look, Eight” he sighed in exasperation and rubbed his forehead “I saw you all die. I have lived through the apocalypse, and came back here looking like a kid. Surely you understand it is not… normal.”
“I do. And?”
“And…. This may have some effect on how I behave.”
“I call bullshit, Five.”
“Fine!” he yelled “you are infuriating, you get the craziest ideas, you make me mad and small, you constantly undermine what I do and …..”
“And what?” she finally looked at him. The second she laid her eyes on his face he could not hide anymore. She saw right through him like an open book. Not only because of her abilities, but because she was always the one closest to him. Challenging, yes. Demanding, yes. But at the same time so ambitious that it made him want to do more, to do better. To outsmart her, to impress her and to prove that he was in fact worth her friendship. He sighed, feeling utterly defeated.
“I hate you, Eight.” The boy shook his head in frustration  “But at the same time you are my sister and after some snarky comments and spiteful words I would jump into the fire for you.”
“I know. That is why I did not take what to you said to me personally.”
“It didn’t look like that to me.”
“Well then you are no smarter than me, dumbass. We are family, we are all broken, messy, chaotic and a bunch of individuals. We fight, scream at each other, get mad and even do not talk for … how many years?” she smiled at him “but at the end of the day we resist the urge to kill each other and that is the progress.”
“You want to kill me, Eight?”
“Sometimes, yes. Do you remember that?” she moved slightly so he could see a carving on the bridge.
“Fight” he smirked “Like Five and Eight combined.”
“How old were we when we made that up? Six?”
“Possibly. It’s good to see some things stays the same.”
“You know Five, we may have grown up, but seems like our relationship will always come down to this one words. Fight. Each other or other people, never mind. To me it just mean we are here for one another.”
“I’ll drink to that.”
“Good” she raised her cup “but stay away from my coffee. If there’s anything about you I know is that you are an ass, mischievous, spiteful, vengeful …”
“Careful there sister….”
“I’m not done yet… you act on impulse and do not mince your own words, but you are not cruel.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ve seen my fair share of people who wanted to hurt another. Their faces when they told words that were meant to tear each other apart and to cause damage. There were so much viciousness inside. That single purpose on their mind to break and destroy. Whatever you may think about yourself you are not like that, Five. You are not evil. Just a menace.”
“So touching” he mocked  “I think I’m about to cry.”
“Don’t mind my presence than” she took another sip and having finished the coffee put the cup down ”“Now. You got silver sparkling in your cloud. Who are we fighting with today?”
“Have I ever told you about the Commission?” he squinted at her.
“Nope. But it seems like a long story. I’m listening.”
Yes. After all, they were family. And at the end of the day they were up to get rid of anyone who would threat a member of it.

Every umbrella academy character ranked
Prior to Season 4 coming this year, thought I'd share my character rank with you for the first 3 seasons all together. (Spoilers ahead)
#33- Marcus, Jayme, Alphonso and Fei
Painfully insignificant and underdeveloped. Their only character traits being "spoiled and a bit evil" made them EXTREMELY captivating villians...
#32- Christopher
Only higher because I find the idea of someone carrying around a cube on a stick onset really funny.
#31- Sparrow Ben
Hard to watch honestly, especially in comparison to his lovely counterpart Umbrella Ben.
In general, the Sparrows were terrible and pointless characters, and clearly the writers knew this because most were killed off pretty quickly. All except for Sparrow Ben, which just meant we had to suffer watching him for even longer.
#30- Viktor
This is a controversial choice. He is tolerable in season 1, but then just becomes a moochy emo sod who is boring to watch. I don't know if it's the acting, script or both, but he’s just such a meek and flavourless character who is PARTICULARLY bad in season 3 when he jeopardises his whole family and is repeatedly selfish and has a victim complex.
#29- Luther
He caused the apocalypse in season one and you can't convince me otherwise. Got some alamaba shit going on with Allison...
There are so many reasons I hate Luther. He's a self-centred man child who couldn't care less about his siblings and their feelings, showing zero empathy to Klaus or Vanya, for example. He only shows respect and kindness when he is attracted to the person (As shown when seasons 1 and 2 he is only nice to Allison, then completely ignores her when he moves on to Sloane) or when they pose as an authority figure to him. All he does is whine and feel sorry for himself.
What's that? You lived in the apocalypse all alone for 40 years? You are addicted to drugs and lost the love of your life in a war? You have a power you can't control and a lifetime of rejection? WELL LUTHER WENT TO THE MOON
#28- Carl Cooper
Hated him as a character but he was a menacing villian which I can respect
#27- Harlan
Couldn't care less about him, only there for plot convenience and Victor's arc pretty much
#26- Sloane
An improvement from Luther's literal sibling. Further evidence that Luther will simply fall for any woman who gives a flying fuck about the moon.
Personality: attracted to Luther
#25- Pogo
Basil exposition of the first series
#24- Detective Patch
Barely remember her
#23- The Swedes
They were kind of goofy as villians but there was some good acting and they posed a real threat. Cute moments with the cats. In general, alright, but they could have easily been replaced plot wise with something more interesting.
#22- Cha Cha
Lack of character development for me. I think she deserved to be fleshed out more, I don't think it's fair that only her partner got to be a three-dimensional being. What are her motivations? Who is she underneath it all?
But overall i liked the acting and she was a good villian.
#21- That hotel worker from season 3
He's barely a character but I liked his sass so he's on the list.
#20- Reggie (Reginald Hargreeves)
He is supposed to be the main antagonist/villian of the show, yet The Handler stole his spotlight. He's a bit too stereotypically evil and asshole-ish for me, basically twiddling his moustache and stroking a cat in a dark corner the entire show. The delivery is too blunt and that doesn't help to build the tension and mystery surrounding him as much, but if he were more complicated and cryptic in his personality it would be more effective.
This is very nit picky and overall Reggie is fine. He has some hilarious moments with Klaus in season 3 and I am genuinely intrigued about the unanswered questions surrounding him.
#19- Elliott
He wasn't a particularly important or central character but I enjoyed it when he was on screen and he played his role convincingly. He was a good comic relief in some scenes, and when he died (spoiler alert) the reactions from other characters were realistic and quite impactful. I felt for him throughout, which is impressive for less significant characters and he had a lot of depth relative to the size of his role.
#18- Destiny's children
Not a singular character, but I LOVED Destiny's children. It fit Klaus's character perfectly to have a cult and led to some of the funnies moments in the series.
#17- Dave
From the very limited moments we see with this character, a lot of personality and emotion was communicated, and I feel like we got a big sense of the character. That is down to the brilliant acting from both of Dave's actors and from Robert Sheehan that really sold this character with so little screen time.
Anyway please come back to life Dave! Death doesn't look good on you!
#16- Agnes (Donut woman)
Very sweet and I wish her all the best in life.
#15- Sissy
BRILLIANTLY acted and impactful. Stole every scene between her and Vanya.
Also, she looks EXACTLY like Sheldon's mum in young sheldon...
#14- Herb and Dot
I want to put them both in my pocket and protect them from harm.
#13- Kenny's mum
Again, barely present but I love her. She's a queen. I would go to a rave with Kenny's Mum.
#12- Stan
I love Stan, and he's a big part of Diego and Lila's character development and motivations. I hope they adopt Stan and live happily ever after.
But yeah, great one-liners from Stan.
#11- Grace
Very well acted and haunting.
Top 10 *drumroll please*
#10- Harold Jenkins (Lenoard Peabody)
Again, quite a controversial placement, but I stand by my decision. The acting and delivery of Harold Jenkins as a villain is possibly the best in the whole show. I was totally convinced Lenoard was a nice guy and I was rooting for him and Vanya, until he started dropping hints and slowly revealing his true self and losing the facade and its... it's chefs kiss. So realistic. The actor deserves an award and a standing ovation.
The writers also deserve a pat on the back for this one because he has a convincing motivation and backstory, and the dialogue is DELICIOUS when it comes to Lenoard. He is a truly menacing villain without being overtly scary and powerful and dangerous.
Tumblr media
#9- Ray
Charismatic, gentlemanly, empathetic, loving, trusting, supportive... Ray is THE IDEAL MAN. I'm a little bit in love with Ray so I don't blame Allison.
HUGE step up from Luther, for sure.
Tumblr media
#8- Umbrella Ben
I would have liked to see more of his character, but I liked what I did see. He loves his siblings and shows it. He is selfless and sacrifices his own existence for Vanya, he is blunt with Klaus because he cares and wants him to improve. Of course, he and Klaus are also a hilarious duo.
Tumblr media
#7- Hazel
One of the most touching arcs that offers an insightful message about what life is for, and about Love. Beautifully acted, a very real and lovable character who probably resonates with many in some ways. Hazel is adorable and i miss him in later seasons.
Tumblr media
#6- The Handler
I LOVE THE HANDLER MORE THAN WORDS CAN EXPLAIN!!! Funny, playful, entertaining, uexpected and whimsical and yet simultaneously dark and menacing, AMAZING villian that stole EVERY SINGLE SCENE she was in. Kate Walsh was the perfect choice for the role and she played it to perfection.
A bit of trivia about the role, The Handler was originally written for a man, and when Kate Walsh got the role she insisted they didn't change the script (which, let's be honest, they would have.) She put a wonderful spin on it and it's just perfect, I wouldn't change a thing. I would 100% watch a spinoff all about the handler. Season 3 was worse than the previous two thanks to them killing her off (amongst other questionable plot choices)
Tumblr media
#5- Allison
Allison was the only character who knew what they were doing, and honestly, if everyone just listened to Allison, there would be no apocalypse. Her storyline losing both Claire and Ray and her powers driving her crazy with power breaks my heart but is well portrayed and impactful.
She's charismatic, clever, strong, and kind. I love Allison and I think most of us do.
Tumblr media
#4- Diego
He's stupid but in an endearing way, I find him to be so entertaining and funny, and the actor's face is like an open book. He's not show-stopping but his consistent presence just sets the mood and allows others to act off of him, while he really sells it with his expressions. He's like the rock of the show.
Tumblr media
#3- Lila
Lila. Mi amor. Mon amour. Amore mio. Meine Leibe.
Tumblr media
#2- Five
For several reasons:
A) He is the daddy here, Luther!!
B) That should be the only reason you need
Seriously, though, I was SUPER impressed with Aidan Gallagher and his incredible screen presence, especially at such a young age. He really embodies the character. Five is the face of the Umbrella Acadamy, and is undoubtedly the most iconic character. 10/10, two thumbs up, absolutely BRILLIANT.
Tumblr media
#1- Klaus
No justification necessary.

ii. SO, HOW SHOULD i begin this?
part two woo. hopefully i'll be able to catch up on this and maybe publish some other stuff now that i'm home a lot more often (yay pain and mobility issues), maybe some arcane stuff since that would be fun, branching out into my last hyperfixation again lol. i've proofread so it should be good :>
pairing : five hargreeves x male/transmasc reader [he/him pronouns]
─────
where : after trying and sort of succeeding to get on the hargreeves' good side, five and [y/n] try rationalizing the situation and figuring out something, anything, to do about it.
─────
warnings : mentions of trauma, threats [of physical violence and murder], reader is still totally exhausted because how could he not be, depression, dissociation, pain, bits of shouting, not necessarily a warning but viktor is always viktor in the multiverse because the boy deserves it okay, existentialism, philosophical nihilism, family issues.
Tumblr media
five adjusted his clothes in the mirror. although he wouldn't be able to have a proper retirement, he could look like a retired old man, couldn't he? who would've thought that someone could get so excited for beiges and tans. he got an amused look of subtle approval from you. beyond that, it wasn't very hard to look past your façade if he was being honest, you looked hesitant; though could he blame you? there were probably millions of worlds where his family fucked you over or just straight-up killed you. and yet, you also looked too tired to care. he couldn't blame you for that, either.
he touched your shoulder again. in a flit of light, which once again made you feel horribly nauseated and woozy, you were downstairs. surprised exclamations roused from his family.
"anyone know where vanya and allison are?" five asked, glancing with narrowed eyes across the lacking table.
"nope." and after that short reply diego went back to finishing off his meal—for someone who often scarfed his meals down, he seemed to be taking his sweet time. either that or your fun conversation with five had not taken as long as you'd thought; either possibility was equally likely at this point, really.
"nuh-uh... sorry."
"not a clue, unfortunately. something wrong, tiny dancer?" klaus asked.
"well, we have a new problem."
"who's this guy?" luther pointed at you wish his thumb, not caring to cover his mouth; your nausea was worsened to see someone talking whilst eating. diego looked at you then, and you hated how his glare bore straight through your soul. he really, really didn't seem to appreciate your presence. how both of them could so willingly ignore the phrase 'we have a problem,' especially from five, was unknown to you.
"this is [y/n]. he's one of the sparrows."
you waved once to everyone. whether the sluggishness of the motion, and the weak smile which accompanied it, was due to shyness or exhaustion was incredibly murky and unclear.
"so now we're getting all buddy-buddy with the enemy? do you know how stupid that is?"
"i'm sorry, diego, did you not hear me say that we have a problem?"
"well, you say that a lot, little brother!" klaus leaned forward to see you clearer, giving you a smile. it didn't really placate your anxieties or your strong desire to run, however it was appreciated. he waved, and you again waved back politely, still feeling very... guilty for your earlier flub. it wasn't a new thing, either, and that made you feel even worse. "hello, little enemy! how do you look so young? do you use those, like, '10 years younger' face creams? i didn't know they worked that well—"
"that is not a relevant question, klaus, now can someone please tell me where allison and vanya are?"
you cleared your throat slightly. "vanya is most likely getting a haircut. allison is trying to get to claire, but she's... not going to find her." it left a bitter taste in your mouth to refer to viktor in such a disrespectful way, but you couldn't take that from him. upon receiving suspicious stares from the younger hargreeves brothers, you mumbled a quiet "maybe."
"mind telling us what the hell is going on before i deck this mini-muffin across the lobby?"
"hey, hey, do not use mini-muffin as an insult! those are beautiful things, there's nothing better than mini-muffins when you're on a bender at, like, three in the morning!" klaus got a confused and heavily judgmental look in return for that... beautiful insight.
"[y/n] has the ability to see all other timelines, so he can usually find out the most probable events. okay? good. now i need to find allison, so can one of you fetch vanya, please?"
"no, not good, and no thanks! after all we've gone through, we deserve a proper explanation!" klaus objected. after a second or two of awkward silence, and a scowling glare from five, he gave in with a curt sigh. it sounded more like a groan. the brothers looked at you; klaus was the only one to seem patient, showing the approval of a parent understanding a kid's fear of giving a speech; luther stared at you with a puzzling mix of intrigue and subtle impatience; and diego stared at you with a raised eyebrow, leaning his head in slightly as if to say 'i'm waiting.' five's glare, although still quite characteristic, was a bit softer when aimed at you. you could never feel more put on the spot.
"you've gotta say something, little man, we can't read your mind," klaus encouraged.
"well, uh... i don't know exactly what it is yet, but something is wrong."
"aren't you omniscient or some shit? you can see literally every reality!"
the shouting scared you quite a bit and certainly made your headache worse. you put one of your hands to your head, mumbling, wishing you could just get some painkillers. if only five had given them back.
"don't shout, for fuck's sake," five grumbled, annoyed in his own right.
"i'm not omniscient. if no other worlds know something, then i can't, and... no other world knows yet. but something is wrong." your quiet voice was juxtaposed to diego's, still loud and stubborn like back in the academy. around 79.4 percent of every single alternate world which had diego in it found him like this, angry and short-tempered; it was very interesting. "you aren't supposed to be here. you guys, as you are, don't exist here. i don't think reality appreciates you showing up all of a sudden. and if versions of yourselves already exist in this world, then something will need to... iron out the wrinkles, i guess." you pursed your lips for a second. "not to be too brash or anything, but, to really, really dumb it down, you're a mis—you're mistakes."
"seriously? five, i thought you said that this timeline would be safe to stay in." luther looked like a scolded puppy. you felt bad. he was far too sweet—naive? yes, naive—for this kind of life.
"yes, that's what i thought, but second opinions are pretty valuable in my line of expertise. turns out it was sorely needed." his brows pricked up a few times while he spoke. "but, like you said before, it may be a problem we can solve."
diego remained, unsurprisingly, unswayed. "you better not be including this wad of chewed gum in that 'we,' five."
"what is with you and insulting him? he wants to help. jesus christ."
"last time i checked, his entire family just kicked our asses out of our own house, i have a right to be pissed, and he's lucky i'm in no killing mood."
"i don't agree that he should be killed," luther began in solidarity, "but we have a reason not to trust him, right?"
you took a little breath and exhaled it in a quiet sigh. "i know my family can be... extreme. and bad sometimes. trust me. and i totally understand how you can be angry with them and with me and think that i'm not honest. but i never hurt anyone, and i want to help you guys. you're eccentric yourselves, but usually you're good people. you're, like, an actual family," you added, trailing off, "not a group forced to stay together for monetary gain."
five squinted at you slightly. was that one of the reasons you chose not to grow up? you couldn't be associated with the sparrows if you were half their age. throw on a pair of sunglasses and nobody could recognize you.
jeez. didn't that sound nice.
"you guys really deserve a place to rest. a stable place to live, even. and if we can figure this out, then maybe you won't have to live in constant fear of coming into contact with your doppelganger or something. live, like, normal lives. as normal as they can be, anyway."
diego, much to your surprise, seemed to listen to what you were saying. sure, he still looked quite ticked-off and impatient, but you couldn't really ask for too much from him, could you?
"and you're sure that this is a problem we can actually solve? for good?"
"i'm not exactly sure what the problem even is yet. all i know is that something is wrong. but every problem has a solution, even if it seems impossible sometimes." there was a twinge of sage, melancholic hopelessness somewhere in there, some subtle disbelief. "five is quite the expert in timelines and time travel-related problems and paradoxes, and i'm an expert in alternate realities and manipulating reality itself. if anyone can figure it out, i'm sure we can. and i have no doubt that all of you will also play large parts."
luther's face was screwed into an expression of brazen confusion. "so... we're, like, completely blind, and need to fight an enemy we know absolutely nothing about."
"pretty much," you mumbled.
"surprisingly poetic way to put that, luther, i'm impressed," five mused rather sarcastically. "unfortunately, however, it seems we're gonna have to do something terrible and unprecedented." perhaps for dramatic effect, perhaps to quell his own annoyances, he paused and sighed out a breath. "we're going to have to work together." he did not need to specify the parties specified in 'together.'
"well, personally, i think this is a splendid idea. perfect opportunity for family bonding, i'd say! we're surrounded by decent chinese food and competent beds and cable television. decent music, too! and diego can finally figure out some self-discipline by not constantly threatening to kill [y/n]! marvelous idea little ones." admittedly, klaus's unique way of talking and gesturing was quite calming to you. you were very grateful for him. oddly enough—maybe you should've stopped saying that when it came to the umbrellas—klaus seemed to be that pillar of tranquility for you. viktor as well.
"calm down, calm down. you know that he won't turn against us or whatever? you're sure?"
the question was directed at five but you answered for him. "i'm not strong and i've never been in good health. even christopher, without his powers, would be better at fighting you than i would."
"the fucking cube?" you nodded. he plastered a grin over a pouting scowl. he sighed, giving into the plan. perhaps some remaining distrust still lingered, however, he could deal with it. "we've gotta clue allison and vanya in now. i'll go get vanya."
"finally," five huffed, shaking his head. "i'm going to find allison. you said she's going to try and find claire? i'll go to her old house." and then, the next second, he was gone. a few seconds of... incredibly awkward silence passed, where luther was staring at you whole-heartedly.
"go on and take a seat, young whipper-snapper. do you have any dietary restrictions? or allergies? we've probably got something here you can eat, if you want."
Tumblr media
you had asked to walk back home with five.
"why with me?" "it's a little bit selfish, but i really don't want to be alone right now, and you're the number one person i trust right now." "flattering," he muttered. "then why walk?" "i think better when i walk."
admittedly, walking was taxing for you right now, so it may not have been your brightest idea, but after this entire day you needed a nice break; the picturesque city sunset was nice, the breeze was subtle and sweet, and it smelled like food out there on the streets. viktor had offered to talk with marcus and try to make a deal; you'd asked him to be very, very careful. "i don't know if purposely seeking out the anomaly would be more effective, or if allowing it to reveal itself would be better. maybe we should seek it out."
five nodded slightly. "allowing it to reveal itself could mean that it becomes too powerful to stop."
"that's kind of what i was thinking. we don't know how it would reveal itself. what if it destroys something, or changes something? what if it hurts people?" your voice was quieter with that last proposition. it was the worst possible option in your mind; buildings could be rebuilt. changes could be undone, with enough time and patience. but people could not be undamaged, and they could not be brought back to life.
well, not permanently, anyway.
five's pace slowed a bit and he peered at you, strangely, for a moment. you avoided his eyes.
"surprisingly enough, i don't think this is the... worst outcome." "forgive me but i don't really believe you. we've got jack all on either side. essentially, we're alone." "you're used to it, five." "hmph. and you aren't?" "not in this way, i guess." there was more he wanted to say but you would not give him the opportunity to dig too deep. "there are worlds where your family is on board. trusts me, even, after some convincing. and there are also some where we narrow the options down. i'd love to be in one of those. but at least we aren't at each other's throats again, or diego's choking me to death." your voice soured. if you got too close, you could feel that pain. there your mind went then, trying to save your other selves out of some ethereal desperation you could never claw yourself away from.
"ow!" you hissed, clapping a hand to your neck where it had stung, sharp and sudden. "what was that?"
"you were seriously so spaced out you didn't see me?" five asked, though it barely sounded like a question. he sounded just barely concerned. you had looked like a glove without a hand. "jeez," he scoffed, shaking his head. "did you see anything helpful, at least? anything at all?"
your mind was still seared and shattered across uncountable realities and he could see that struggle to ground in your eyes. hear it in your breath. you had little mental fortitude left to respond. "sorry? can you repeat that?"
five didn't roll his eyes. unfortunately, he knew dissociation. he carefully took your hands in his, rubbing your knuckles like he'd seen you do before, and that seemed to give you... some amount of usable energy. it was also sort of difficult not to notice him, of all people, doing it, even while he sported an expression of general distaste for the situation; you couldn't tell if it was falsified or not. slowly, you were returning to your body, and it felt heavier than ever before. "what did you see?" he repeated, just as you asked, meticulously annunciating each word and using a decent pace.
you nodded slightly. "i saw a few other timelines. less fortunate ones." you didn't need to elaborate for five to understand what you were referring to. the broad strokes, anyway. "nothing really useful, though," you added after a second in total defeat.
"shit. well, that's alright." and though it clearly wasn't, you didn't say anything.
"how long have we been standing here?"
"... a minute or two."
"oh, great," you mumbled, shaking your head to yourself. your record was around two hours, sure, but it still sucked. "the... we should seek it out."
"wow. you remembered."
"we were having the same conversation a whole lot. given i was still alive and actually grew to trust you." it was a half-joke but it succeeded in getting a bare grin out of five. "we can't risk hurting other people."
"or destroying something," five added.
"or destroying something," you agreed, then furrowing your brow slightly. a cafe nearby was playing pleasant music; that was something keeping you tethered to this world in particular, as if five wasn't enough, but even he was quiet sometimes. "the only problem is we don't know where it is."
"or what it looks like. if it even looks like something at all. it could very well be invisible or incomprehensible." he scowled for a second, though not out of irritation, thinking rather loudly to himself. "we should start where we appeared, i think." you nodded in agreement. "if your... 'family' decides to work with us, all of us, then we can search a whole lot more. but we should get the basics out of the way."
"the beginning is always the most logical place to start."
"quaint way to put it, did you write the sound of music in another universe?"
"what part about 'literally any possible, feasible universe' do you not understand?" you joked, managing a small smile of your own, and five would be lying if he said he didn't feel a little bit relieved to see you humoring yourself again.
"i deserve that." he paused for a second. "i know you said that walking helps you think, and you definitely need to do that more, but you look like a dead man standing right now. i'd rather just drop you off at the academy and get back to my own family. are you okay to teleport?" you did not respond at first, taking careful account of how you felt and how you may feel after. eventually, and rather subtly, you nodded.
"my room is klaus's old room back in your universe."
"wow, that... makes it easier. safer, probably." that was the closest you were going to get to 'thank you' so you took it. you shut your eyes tight and breathed deep through that half-second nausea-bomb. you were happy to see your room when you opened your eyes; smelling like home, looking like home, feeling like pure comfort. five glanced about your room. somehow it looked exactly like what he expected from you, which was a compliment. it was cozy. well-lived—especially the bed. there were many blankets and pillows and a few stuffed animals, unmade, probably because you barely left it. he couldn't blame you, either.
looking at you, you seemed totally relieved and excited to be back home.
"are you going to let go of my hands now?"
five stiffened for a second, mumbling a hushed apology before letting go, shoving his hands in his pockets. you couldn't help but grin a little, tiredly, and he scoffed when he saw it. "don't look at me like that. i was helping you ground, since you evidently can't do it yourself sometimes." not that he could blame you, really. he couldn't imagine what it would be like to be... you.
you ignored the jab. "i'm surprised you're willing to wait to take care of this," you mumbled, hanging up your scarf and sweater, lazily rifling through your dresser to find something decently comfortable to pass out in. "you always insisted on getting things done quick. if not immediately."
"i'm desperate for one damn moment of peace. the world isn't being decimated just yet. i just want to sleep decently for once."
you smiled slightly. no one could work while exhausted, especially not when it came to your quandary. "go on and sleep then. i'll meet you at the obsidian again tomorrow."
"yeah. oh, uh, just remembered something. close your eyes for a few seconds."
"why?"
"just do it."
you scoffed, though without any sort of animosity or annoyance, shutting your eyes tight like he told you to. you heard the familiar sound of his blinking once, twice. "alright. you can look. here." he held out to you your bottle of painkillers. "nearly forgot to give them back."
"oh, sh—thank you." the relief on your face was quite plain and sort of comforting as well. he mustered a slight hum in response.
"good night."
"night, five. sleep well."
"hmph. we'll see."

Victor Hargreeves saying he always hated mirrors and thought everybody felt so strange in their skin and then saying "Me. Just me" when Allison asks what do you see now. I'm so happy the writers incorporated Elliot's transition in the series and not have him play Vanya anymore.

Everyone else is in white.
Grace starts the record player, a weatherman's voice reverberated throughout the room. Grace grabs a little bell and starts ringing it, soft chimes gaining the attention of the children.
All of them came to the dining hall one by one standing behind a chair waiting for their father to present himself.
Hargreeves finally makes his way into the room and gives them permission to sit.
Allison and Luther make eyes at each other as the rest of the kids start to dig into their meals. All of them except Five however whom was currently glaring daggers at his so called father. Ben pulls out a book to read Klaus was doing something secretive.
Five picks up his knife and stabs it into the table gaining everyone's attention including Hargreeves though he refused to look at him.
"Number Five."
"I have a question."
Five states with an annoyed smile on his face. He hated when Reginald did that it was like he saw them as less than.
"Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during meal times. You are interrupting Herr Carlson."
Five's frowns.
"I want to time travel."
"No."
"But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said."
Five stands from his seat. Hargreeves still refuses to look at him which causes Five to glare at him before teleporting at his side.
"See?"
Five was starting to get upset. Why couldn't he acknowledge that he was getting better. Aren't parents supposed to encourage their kids?
"A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel."
Five looked at his siblings but they were all ignoring the fit he was throwing.
"One is like sliding along ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn."
Five sighs to himself.
"Well, I don't get it."
"Hence the reason you're not ready."
Five glances at his siblings again this time they were all looking at him. Vanya shook her head at him signaling for him to stop. It only angered him because he didn't think they believed in him.
"I'm not afraid."
"Fear is not the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable."
Hargreeves finally looks at him, there as a fierce glare and deep frown on his face.
"Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore."
Five looked at him with eyes full of resentment, there was a look of contempt on his face.
Five glares at the ground as Hargreeves turns his attention back to his plate. Five walks out of the dining hall catching everyone's attention.
"Number Five! You haven't been excused."
Five ignored his statement and headed outside.
"Come back here!"
Five walks the streets with a determined look on his face. Who cares if his family didn't believe in him. He was going to show them. Show him. That he was ready. If Hargreeves wasn't going to show him how to time travel, he'll do it himself.
Five begins to run holding his hands out in front of him. His hands begin to shine a bright blue color and as he spreads his hands apart the trees that were once lifeless now had blossoming flowers and bright green leaves.
Five looks behind him and smiles, there were more people outside now and different stands, new restaurants.
"Not ready, my ass."
Now more confident he jumps again. This time snow filled the ground, the air was cold and frigid. There were few were people on the streets and now buildings were put on lease.
He jumps one last time and what he sees shocks him.
Everything was destroyed, buildings were either torn down to debris or on fire. There was no one walking around that he could see. The air was fogged from all the smoke, it was hard to breathe.
He looked around in panic, this was not what he had expected when he decided to jump. This couldn't be the future, how could the world go to shit so fast...
He turned to run, heading home to find his siblings only to come to the hard truth of his home being burned down. It was hard to believe that this happened, where was everyone?
"Vanya! Ben! Dad! Anyone!"
He was scared. He had to warn them what was about to happen.
He balled his fist ready to jump but nothing happened, his hands weren't glowing. He tried again and again but still nothing.
"Come on!"
He was starting to get frustrated with himself. He should be able to do this no problem, he did it before. He got here just fine, he should be able to jump back.
But his body refused, it wouldn't let him and he had to come to terms with the fact that his father was right.
"Shit!"
-
"Wow out one prison and into another."
You shake your head in disbelief, Five shrugs relishing in the feel of your hand playing with his brown locks as his head laid in your lap.
"Dolores makes it bearable."
"What about me?"
Five smiles at you teasingly.
"I could do without you."
You gave him a faux look of annoyance and pushed him off your lap causing him to laugh.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Come back."
Five reaches out for you still laughing.
"Cuddle up with your doll."
Five groans still reaching for you.
"She's not as warm as you."
You roll your eyes when Five wrapped his arms around you and placed his face in your stomach.
"What am I gonna do with you?"
"Oh please, you know you love me."
He had no idea.
🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛🫧⌛
Five was currently walking the streets late at night after leaving Vanya's apartment. He was currently pissed off right now. He didn't know if it was because he no longer looked his age but his siblings were not taking anything he said seriously.
It didn't matter though because whether they were helping or not, Five was going to stop the apocalypse, He had to.
With his mind focused on one thing and one thing only he didn't notice the blue light that shined behind his back.
You watched as the figure walked further and further into the darkness in case it had been one of those people Five had warned you to watchout for at night. When the figure is a safe distance away from you; you stand from the ground and start to dust yourself off.
"Okay Five, where are you?"
You started to look around at your surroundings. You didn't know where you were supposed to go, it's been awhile since you've been here and it's even more different now that there were actual buildings around. You were used to seeing tons of merpeople back home but it was a relief to see actual people on the deserted land you came to know, up until now the only people you've interacted with had been Five, some of your ex coworkers at the commission and people that you either had to kill or were on the brink of death, all isolated conditions. Sure you didn't talk to the figure but it was a nice change.
You let out a yawn, slowly rubbing your tired eyes, you were exhausted after today. Finding Five would have to wait and with your tracker now out of your system you actually felt safe enough to get some rest.
With that in mind you went on a search to find a nice place to sleep however unbeknownst to you, there was someone else looming in the shadows waiting for the right moment to strike.
You had ended up finding some type of motel. You realized that you didn't have any money on you but the staff was nice enough to cut a deal with you for the night. The guy had directed you to a small room, it wasn't very nice looking and it didn't have conditioning but you were happy with it regardless.
You moved one of the dressers near the door seeing as they put you in a room with no lock, you took a cold shower before checking the window and finally heading to bed.
Outside of the Motel, a taxi pulled up and out stepped two of the four assassins sent to take care of you and Five. A man and woman dressed in blue suits. Hazel and ChaCha.
The two walked into the building and spoke with the staff. The man hands them a key card.
"Room 225."
The two of them look at the man confused. Or ChaCha did Hazel looked around disinterested.
"Where's the other room?"
The other room happened to be the broken down room he had ended up giving to you. He didn't want to admit it so he lied.
"Um... Only one room was booked."
Hazel sighs and whispers to himself.
"Dammit I'm sick of this cost-cutting bullshit."
"Just tell me there's two beds."
ChaCha says firmly.
"Yes Ma'am. Real firm."
ChaCha was not amused.
"How long will you be staying with us?"
"Just the one night. I believe there's a package waiting for us."
The guy nods at her and goes to grab it. He comes back with a box addressed to them. ChaCha grabs the box while Hazel grabs the key card and they go about their day.
Not too far from the motel was an abandoned laboratory, It was dark and dusty, the owner clearly hadn't been there in years. The whirl of machinery started to sound and soon multiple different red lights started to fill the room.
🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
Griddy's was surrounded by different cop cars, there was caution tape surrounding the building and faint drops of blood on the ground. Agnes sat in one of the booths, she was still shaken up about the events that transpired.
One of the cops who went by the name Detective Patch walked around the building shocked by the amount of bodies.
"This is a once in a blue moon type situation, I'd say."
"I'm inclined to agree."
Her boss sighed.
"Same gun on every vic, all M4s. All the castings are .223s."
She informs him of the findings.
"Know what I think? I think these idiots all shot each other."
She said confidently, her boss added to the statement.
"And stabbed. One in the throat."
He shivered.
"One in the eye, and this guy got his neck snapped."
He falls joining her on the ground to inspect the body.
"All quick and efficient kills."
"These are definitely professionals. Dumb, but professionals. Any witnesses?"
"Yes, one."
He points at Anges. Patch walks up to the woman wanting to ask her about what happened.
"It was a slow night. It was quiet. My last two customers were this.. older guy and— and his kid."
Patch nods.
"The guy had a dough— No, that's not right. The guy had an éclair, and the kid had— had coffee. I went-- I went into the back room... To just get some more change. Then I heard his truck start up. They drove away."
Anges recounts remembering the gun shots.
"I heard shots."
She remembered jumping under the desk, cowering until the guns stopped.
"By the time I got back in here. Everyone was..."
She couldn't say it, she wanted to cry.
"Was you know."
"Was there anyone else in the shop?"
Patch asked gently. Agnes shook her head.
"I'm sorry, not to be rude, 'cause you seem super sweet, but..."
She pauses remembering the brunette man who was dressed in dark clothing and a green jacket that came earlier that night.
"do I have to go through all this again?"
Patch was confused.
"Again?"
"Well I already told the other detective everything."
Patch made an annoyed look, she knew who it was but she had to ask anyway.
"What other detective?"
-
Diego walks out from the back of the building. He sighs when he sees all the police outside of his exit door.
"Shit. Hang on, let me—"
He tried to talk but Patch wasn't having any of it and tases him. She cuffs him and berates him as she walks him towards the front of the store. Diego tries to flirt to get under her skin and she ends up taking his walkie and everything else important that he had besides his mask.
"That you can keep."
"You used to like that."
"Not anymore."
"Where's Lupo?"
"Not here."
"Can I talk to him?"
"Nope."
Diego sighs.
"By the way, this thing might look like a botched robbery, but my gut's telling me something else is going on here."
Patch rolls her eyes.
"Look, the waitress, she mentioned that Ishmael's Tow Truck guy. Maybe they saw something."
"You're not police, Diego, remember?"
"Yeah, I know."
He says sarcastically as she puts him in the back of the police car.
"Do you? Because you show up and act like you can be a part of this, and you can't, not anymore."
She says to him closing the door, sometimes she felt like she was a mother scolding a child when it came to him.
"I'm good at this. You know I can help you. Ask Lupo."
"I know you give me agita. And I do not need... I do not want your help. And I'll make sure the boss talks to Lupo."
Diego glares at her, he was frustrated. His whole life, taught to fight crime and people act like he can't even do that.
Patch walks off as a crowd of people look at the commotion at Griddy's, Hazel and ChaCha being apart of the crowd. ChaCha was silently judging the agents that were burnt to a crisp outside of the building.
🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧🫧
You woke up to the sound of the soft chirping of the birds, their little song reminding you of Tigger. Though you couldn't hear him then, his dancing told you he was.
You smiled as you listened to their song wanting to join in with them. You finally stand up to get ready for the day.
You looked at yourself in the mirror there was a small splatter of blood on your suit, faint enough at night but not quite in the day. You took it off and started to wash your face. While washing your face you had the urge to drink from the sink, you hadn't had water in a while and you needed it in your system to be able to use your powers, C.H. and C.C. was currently after you and you had no idea where they were. You never know when you need to turn into a mermaid (less likely) or blow out someone's eardrums.
After mulling over your options you decided it's better safe than sorry and drunk from the sink. Your skin was starting to gain some color and you felt way better.
After that you walked out and had a chat with the staff member from the night before. You waved at him as you left.
"See you later, I will have your money by then. Thank you."
You walked out and smiled as the sun beamed down on your skin, you used to have a bad relationship with the sun. Being alone on a deserted land, crawling around with a heavy tail while being dried out will do that. But over the years it's become a solace, after meeting The Handler everything had become dark but the sun was always there shining bright and you had begun to admire it.
It was nice to see the sky, it was just as blue as the ocean. You hadn't gotten to see it like this before. The air was filled with smoke around the time you came on land, it polluted the sky and other times you were too occupied to notice it when taking care of business.
There was nature, birds, trees, people, lots of people not the lifeless corpses you've come to see across your many years on land.
This was what your mom saw, the way she described the human world before she...
You let out a deep sigh. As you were walking past a park, a terrorized scream filled the air.
And just like that, you were reminded that the human world was in fact not like the stories your mother told you.

Comfortable silence lay steadily inside your room, the sound of the paintbrush gliding across the easel was slightly heard, along with your steady breathing. Rich colors decorated the canvas, ranging from bright yellows to dark blues, covering the white part of the material. The calm atmosphere makes you sigh in contentment.
Painting made you feel at ease, your coping mechanism if you will. A calm mind is what you adored, your powers could be overwhelming if it wanted to. It made you uncomfortable at some times, giving you a glimpse of what you didn't want to see from a person's mind. Yet it was also incredibly useful for villains, barging into their minds to see what their weaknesses are. It was horrible to come in uninvited in a person's mind, but it did the job.
Marcus was extremely fond of your powers, while Ben used you for his much dirtier deeds, forcing you to walk in a person's mind to cheat his way through. Much like when he was arguing with Marcus, he wanted to know what his weaknesses are, so, he forced you to do it for him. It made you uncomfortable after using your powers, knowing as you're prying into their privacy. It's a curse and a blessing all in one.
A loud sound slightly startled you, causing your brush to glide in a way it wasn't supposed to, the red light outside your door catching your attention. “Fuck.” Muttering softly, being frustrated before fixing everything up and seeing what's a big enough problem for Marcus to push the emergency button. It was only pushed whenever it was urgent, much like the time when Marcus frantically pushed it after coming home with Ben in his arms after the Jennifer incident.
The soles of your dirty shoes brushed against the floor as you made your way to the balcony, hearing loud voices from below. Your eyes caught Jayme's, and you rushed over to her side, causing you to be in the middle of the balcony. “Huh, weird. Didn't expect guests today.” You commented, which earned only a soft chuckle from her. Your eyes scanned everyone, taking your time to observe everyone.
They were all dressed in black, except for the boy who had school shorts on that displayed his pasty knees. One had a cape on, a dramatic hero outfit. One had a cowboy hat, a stylish man. One had knives all over him, guessing that it had something to do with his powers. One had a black coat on, she was shorter than most of them. One had regular clothing on, a bulky person. While lastly, a boy who had school shorts on.
Five's lungs stopped working completely when he caught a glimpse of you. The sight of your body swimming in your blood flooded his thoughts immediately, making it hard for him to breathe. It messed Five up, mentally and physically after your death. His body gave up on making precise sniper shots, and his mental health deteriorated day by day. Everyone at Commission noticed, he was almost fired for it, but ultimately pushed away the idea as he was the best assassin they had and will ever have.
His heart clenched painfully, he looked down at his right hand, the very hand he used to shoot you with. He was incredibly hurt, too hurt to notice that you were staring right at him. It pained him to see you, knowing the last time he saw you traumatized him. His breathing was erratic, and beads of sweat formed on his face.
Your brows knit together in confusion at the boy who looked uneasy and uncomfortable as if he wanted to leave right at that moment. An idea popped into your mind, waving a hand his way, the boy with school shorts. Trying to get in his head as much as you hated to. Before you could continue, Reginald's voice interrupted you.
“They are the sparrows. My children.” Five's whole body tensed at Reginald's loud voice. Clearly proud of his adopted children, knowing their capabilities.
The Sparrows were strong, but they didn't have what The Umbrellas had. The Sparrows sure outplaced them in terms of how convenient their powers were, but The Umbrella had a bond that only they could form. A chaotic mess but they loved each other in a way that they'd put their lives at stake to save another one's life. It's what made them siblings, hell, Five tried everything just to go back to his family.
Five's stare was fixated on you, his eyes never leaving yours. To be quite honest, it made you uncomfortable, seeing a stranger stare right into your soul. He couldn't believe his eyes, he didn't even acknowledge the fact that his dead brother was there in front of him. All he could think of was you.
The feelings Five felt were surreal, it felt as if you had punched him so hard, that he couldn't compose himself. He wanted you, needed you to remember him, no matter what it takes.
“I'm sorry. What do you mean, your children?” The man with knives says, inching toward Reginald in a taunting matter.
While Five was stuck in time, staring at you. He stared at you while you made your way down the stairs, whispering something to the girl beside you that made the girl laugh while looking at him. All of these things happening all at once but all he could do was stare.
“That isn't possible, old man.” The man with knives taunts even further, taking one of his knives, and playing with it, attempting to intimidate Reginald.
“Of course it is! I'd think I'd know, would I?” Your feet are planted right beside Ben, and your posture is straight, trying to show who's in control. Ben simply shoved you aside softly, careful not to push too hard that you'd fall over. Once you've composed yourself next to Ben, your eyes panned back to the boy.
“Everybody else can see Ben, right?” The one with the cowboy hat asks his siblings, who looked as confused as the one who asked.
“Y/n.” Five's whole mouth was dry, your name was merely a whisper, barely audible for others to hear. His face was defeated at the sight of you, who was closer than earlier when you were on the balcony. He was extremely, overwhelmed. All five stages of grief came at him all at once.
“Wait, you know them?” The bulky man points over to you while glancing at Five. It was a surprise for them for someone in their team knew someone from the enemy team. Considering everything, they didn't know Five up to an extent. Their lives were restless, from one apocalypse to another, from one problem to another. They never had time to sit down for a moment and get to know each other on a deeper level.
Your face scrunched up at the boy who knew your name. “Who even are you?” You asked no one in particular, generalizing all of them. By now, your other siblings were behind you and Ben. Marcus standing on the other side of Ben, taking up the responsibility of being Number One.
“They call themselves the Umbrella Academy, a group of scheming, perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963 when I was away on business in Dallas. Be warned, they claimed to be my spawn.” Reginald's loud voice echoed around the living room. From the corner of your eye, you could see Jayme subtly snickering at the last part of what Reginald had said.
The girl with a cape stepped one step closer to Reginald, in disbelief at what he said. “Claim? Look, Five, what the hell is going on?” She gestured over to the boy in short shorts who used his time to watch you. What a peculiar name, given, that they are a peculiar family. It made you feel slightly uncomfortable with his intense stare.
“I don't know yet, but it's concerning.” Five's eyes panned over to you and Ben, his expression both mixed with confusion and surprise.
“Is he telling the truth?” Marcus spoke out from beside Ben.
“Not the part about us being perfidious.” The short girl replied, clearly bothered by Reginald's words and how he spoke it.
“No, we're amateur-fidious, at best.” The boy with the cowboy hat on says, showing his hand that had the words ‘Goodbye’ written on it. If he was on your team, you would've laughed.
His siblings paid no mind to the silly boy, the short girl continuing. “But we are his children. This is our house.” Ben nudged you slightly, telling you that you should use your powers.
You obliged, moving behind Ben to hide, subtly bringing up a hand and pointing it at the girl's head to barge into her memories. Five watched you do your work, much like what he watched a million times by now. Memories flooded your brain the moment your powers worked on the short girl. Memories of some with the boy with schoolboy shorts. Memories of some with the bulky man. Memories of all of them. You used her memories to know all of them even further.
Klaus was the one with the ‘Goodbye’ tattoo, Allison was the one with the cape, Luther was the bulky man, Diego was the one with knives, and Vanya was the one you barged into. You stumbled back from using your powers, it was something that overwhelmed you at times. Jayme caught you before you could fall, the Umbrellas watching you but didn't say anything.
“You okay?” Jayme whispers, helping you compose yourself.
“I'm okay, thanks.” You made your way back beside Ben, being faced to face with Klaus.
“Okay. None of you belong here." Allison says from her side of the room. Her eyes panning over to every single one of you and your siblings.
“Let's move out everyone, ordered by Ms. Allison.” A few scattered laughs from your siblings as Christopher spoke out his opinion. The Umbrella's expression was clearly confused, not knowing how you knew their sibling's name.
“How-” Allison started. Presumably was about to ask how you knew her name. Before being interrupted by Grace who had a tray of cookies in hand. They had several questions for Five.
“I wasn't expecting company.” Diego started to walk toward the robot, an unreadable expression on his face as he watched the robot's slight malfunction. “This is the best I could do on short notice.” You pitied Grace, you really did. Your siblings treated her like what she was, a robot. She often got mistreated by everyone in your family.
“Mom,” Diego whispered. It was true, Grace being their mom in their memories. What scared you the most was the fact that they did live here, Vanya's memories were full of it. Some being with a blonde woman who if you could recall was named Sissy. Some being in this house, with Grace and Reginald. Pogo was even there.
“Mom? She's a robot, you perv.” Jayme comments, causing your siblings to snicker.
“It's not a robot.” Diego was quick to reply.
“Hey, don't you call him that.” Luther defends Diego from where he stood. Guessing from Vanya's memories, Luther had a character development.
“Or what?” Ben taunts. He could get annoying at times. Voices were overlapping, filled with both The Umbrellas and The Sparrows, teasing each other, provoking one another. From the corner of your eye, you could see Jayme getting ready to use her powers, before launching at it on Diego. His siblings paid no mind to him, too engrossed with threatening one another.
Your eyes watched the man be confused before smiling to himself at what he saw. “Can I see?” You asked Jayme, replying with a soft ‘sure.’ Using your powers, you delve into his mind, watching his hallucinations. Revealing both The Umbrellas and The Sparrows dancing with each other, what a weird desire.
It was another thing that bonded you and Jayme. It was part of your power to see Jayme's hallucinations, causing her to be one of your closest siblings. Along with Ben, who at times, could be an asshole. You snapped back into reality once the hallucination ended, seeing a smirk on Jayme's face as she watched Diego's reaction after.
“You got 30 seconds to get out the house.” Marcus' deep voice resonated around the living room. You sympathized with The Umbrellas. Although you did know the full truth, you couldn't say anything since you still sided with your family. After all, they were the ones you originally went with.
“And if we don't?” Allison replied. She still gave you hard glances every once in a while, confused why you knew her name and confused why Five knew your name.
“Then we'll have to settle this the old-fashioned way.” You rolled your eyes at Marcus and his corny sayings before he took down an enemy. You wondered if it was engraved in each leader's mind to be corny.
“Look, we just fought a literal army.” You nodded along, one of Vanya's memories. Ben watched you, wanting to know what you saw, but had to push it aside for later. You watched Marcus' face fall, somewhat believing the girl. “Okay? This doesn't need to get ugly. Let's all just calm down, and let's talk.” She ushered once more. She had the loudest voice earlier when she tried to calm down the others.
“Pst. Ben-er-rino.” Klaus called out to him. “You look so much better alive than you do dead.” Ben wasn't in any of Vanya's memories, only his younger version. Presuming that he did die in their memories. You didn't know what to call their version of your lives yet.
“Am I right?” He questioned his siblings, only to be ignored once again. A recurring matter in Vanya's memories, along with the present. “Except for that haircut.” Ben did have a horrible haircut.
“What the hell did you just say?” Clearly offended at Klaus' comment.
“Come on, come on. Stop with all the hostility, Mr. Grumpy Pants.” He took steps forward to be close to Ben, observing his face. “Oh wow. Nice scar. Muy Macho.” Your eyes scanned the room, confused as to why Klaus wasn't stopped. Only to have eye contact with both Five and Allison.
“Shut your mouth!” Ben's tone much like venom.
“You shut your mouth and just hug your brother-” Klaus starts but gets interrupted by Ben's fist colliding with his face, causing Klaus to quite dramatically stumble back and plop his body down the floor. Ben had a short temper, and he could get mean at times.
Another fit of arguments started before Marcus was the first one to take a blow on The Umbrellas, pushing Luther away from Ben who punched his brother. Loud bickering and taunting were the only things heard inside the living room, along with occasional grunting from Marcus and Luther as they fought.
Marcus kicked Luther right in the abdomen, causing him to fly onto Klaus who had just stood up. Each sibling picked their prey to fight. As you picked the most interesting one, Five. Diego taunted Christopher with names. Klaus faded away, getting away from all the chaos. Marcus and Luther throw and dodge punches as best as they could. The others going onto their agendas.
You sat on one of the bar stools, watching and waiting for Ben to finish his part with Five. The boy would sometimes get distracted as you watched him, getting a few cuts and bruises from not focusing, nothing he couldn't handle. Ben put him in a choke hold, before blinking away to the nearest pillars.
“Want me to cover for you, Ben?” Already standing up before being interrupted by Ben's irritated voice.
“Go help Jayme or something.” Rolling your eyes, but obeying nonetheless, already looking for Jayme.
Five's eyes watched your figure fade away, being distracted yet again causing him to take another blow from Ben. Your feet wandered off, planting them right next to Alphonso, leaning your body on one of the pillars as you waited for Vanya and Jayme to finish. Although you were a part of the unnatural and super-powered team, fighting wasn't your forte. They only ever used you if intelligence was needed, knowing that fighting wasn't your strong suit.
“Who says I'm blind, asshole.” Fei replied to Allison. Alphonso offered you the bag of popcorn, gesturing you to take some, and you happily obliged. He was also one of the people you had a close bond with. When both of you were children, he used you to experiment with his powers as you did the same to him.
Your eyes scanned the place, watching every Umbrella use their powers. You had already known and studied all of their powers thanks to Vanya's memories, but it was fun seeing them in action.
A wave of light emitted from Vanya. You feared her, and everyone should, too. She ended the world two times, what else was there to do? Sloane stepped in, using her abilities to make Vanya float and throwing her body to the wall that hung several paintings. You would lie and say that Sloane wasn't the most powerful one among all of you. Granted, there was Christopher who for some reason was a cube, but Sloane did things that would blow anyone's mind.
“Art snob, huh?” Sloane shouted from her place, making sure that Vanya heard her. Your eyes watched Diego following Christopher all the while throwing knives at him, failing miserably. You heard Klaus shout something that you couldn't quite make out due to the fact that Ben's tentacles were suffocating him.
Alphonso cheered Fei on while she was giving her all into fighting Allison. Diego passed by your side quickly, still running after Christopher who toyed with him. Just as Fei was about to strike Allison with her weapon of choice, she was stopped by Allison's manipulating words. “By the way, I heard a rumor you can't move.” Causing Fei to be stuck right where she was.
Alphonso handed over the bag of popcorn to you, taking Fei's defeat as a cue to step in and for you to step out. Your eyes scanned the place, looking for Jayme. Finally catching her frame, you jogged over to her, curious as to who was her next opponent.
A defeated sigh left your lips the moment you saw those uncovered knees. His gaze was right on yours as he helped Allison up. “Hey, short pants. What's up?” Jayme started, earning a scowl from Five, clearly uninterested in what she had to say.
Allison stood beside Five, before being ushered away. “Go help the others. I'll handle this one.” He referred to only Jayme, knowing that he had no intention of hurting you in any way. It still hurt him just by looking in your direction.
Five used his powers, blinking away behind Jayme to punch her, careful not to lay a finger on you. “More like their ringer.”
His eyes were on yours, distracted yet again, not noticing how Jayme spat on him with her venom. You leaned back on the wall, waiting for Jayme's powers to do their job and for yours to do its job.
“Hey, gross, all right?” His hand attempted to wipe away the venom, but before he could do so, his skin already absorbed the substance. Jayme simply smirked all the while raising her eyebrows in his direction, waiting for his reaction.
Not a moment later, his expression was confused. Seeing as this was your cue to jump in, you were taken aback by the scene in front of you. The vision included you by the top of the staircase. It took you a while to process everything. How Five knew your name, how Five saw you in his deepest desires, what Five uttered as he talked to you in his hallucination.
“I'm sorry, my love.” Tears already sliding down his face as he talked to the version he had of you. His body slowly inching toward you, feeling as if he was pulled in. “I didn't know, I'm sorry. I missed you, more than words can say.” He felt guilty and relieved all at once. Guilty that his hands were the same hands he used to pull the trigger on the gun, and relieved because even for a moment, he had a chance to see you.
You pulled away from his mind, being overwhelmed yet again. Once you pulled away from Five, Jayme was quick to catch you. Looking up, you saw him kissing the air, where you stood earlier in his vision. “Are they all perverts?” Jayme exclaimed. Seeing as you've had enough of the boy in school shorts, you left Jayme to deal with him alone.
Tumblr media
Grace stood by the entryway of the living room, a plate of cookies in hand. It had been days since Jayme and Alphonso had passed away due to The Umbrella's ally. It nearly tore you to shreds, their death taking a toll on your mental health. Ben, Fei, and Christopher left you at the hotel along with The Umbrellas and Sloane, seeing as you weren't ready to stand up for a long time due to wailing your heart out.
As much as it surprised everyone, including The Umbrellas, you had formed a bond with them in the time you've been mourning your deceased siblings. They weren't as bad as your siblings told you in their stories, most especially Ben. They were surprisingly fun, chaotic, but fun.
For those days, you've made it your mission to avoid Five at all costs. Frankly speaking, Five had been on your tail, watching your every move at all times. It was the grief that drove him to do so, he had the urge to protect you from everything. It annoyed you how he would be next to you at every chance he could get. He annoyed you.
“Lovely to meet you,” Lila stated as she took a handful of cookies.
Diego gestured to Grace's nonexistent right eye, looking uneasy. “She stabbed herself in the eye.” Luther whisper-shouted right back to Diego to answer his confusion, Sloane standing right next to the bulky man as you sat on the large couch, next to the armrest.
“Welcome,” Fei started, one of her Ravens trailing right behind her along with Ben. “Please make yourselves at home.” She gestured to the different seats scattered all around the room as if this wasn't their home. It baffled you as to how Ben and Fei looked like Jayme and Alphonso's death didn't affect them one bit.
“Bitch, this is our home.” Allison commented. It was true, but you had yet to find the right moment to tell them the truth no matter how hard it was for you and your remaining siblings. However, you had also yet to know how Five knew your name or how Five saw you in the vision and why was he apologizing. Many questions are unanswered, and all it takes to know it all was to dive into his mind.
“Uh, excuse me?” Fei questioned Allison, and Allison only rolled her eyes as a reply.
“Jellybean?” Luther offered the bowl to everyone, attempting to ease the tension the two families had. Five watched you stand up from your seat, taking the bowl of jelly beans from Luther, then going back to where you were originally.
“Where the hell is Viktor and Klaus?” Diego asks no one in particular.
“With our luck, probably Kugelblitzed by now.” Five answers for him, sitting down on the armrest next to you. Normally, you would've pushed him off, but you were too tired to make a fuss, and so, you let him. Even resting your head softly on his arm, his heart rapidly beating at your actions.
“You're a dark little dude sometimes.” Five paid Diego no mind as he watched you eat your different colored jelly beans in peace.
“Ooh, what happened to your hand?” Fei asks, but before Diego could answer, he was interrupted by Ben.
Ben clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. “We don't have time for idle chitchat. Everyone, sit down.” Everyone obeying Ben's order.
The moments that passed by consisted of an unexpected fight between Allison and Viktor as the others watched with snacks in their hands and mouths, entertained by the heated argument. It was something serious that you didn't recall, something about their mothers? But either way, there was something strange that happened with Allison. Her powers worked on Viktor even without using the words 'I heard a rumor.'
The next hour or so passed by, and Sloane, Viktor, and Lila used their abilities to contain the Kugelblitz inside Christopher, which scarily enough, it worked. With Sloane's perfect calculations, it went smoothly, or as everyone had thought it did.
You watched everyone with a slight smile on your face as they danced, drank, and chit-chatted, a glass of champagne in your hand. The song Another One Bites the Dust plays loudly, yet even with Queen being one of your favorite bands, you couldn't get yourself to be fully happy despite saving the world successfully.
“Hey.” Five stood in front of you, taking you by surprise. The alcohol coursing through his veins gave him a sudden burst of energy and courage.
He sat down next to you on the couch, his eyes darting to your eyes and then down to your lips. “Five, I don't want to talk to anyone at the moment.” It was true, you had no energy at the moment to speak with anyone other than your mind.
“Can't I spend time with my spouse that isn't my spouse?” You simply rolled your eyes at him, leaving the living room and heading toward your room. His footsteps trailed closely, getting louder by the second as he followed you throughout the house.
Before you could slam the door on his face, he caught it just in time. He didn't know why he was pushy. He didn't even know why he followed you into your room. He understood that you weren't his Y/n, the one who he loved and the one who loved him back. He understood everything, perhaps it was the grief that was talking.
“Leave me alone!” You shout. Suddenly, a burst of energy filled the room, knocking some little things in the process, and resulting in accidentally jumping into Five's mind. You caught a glimpse of you and Five on your wedding day, the widest smile you've seen on Five. All memories of you and Five came at you all at once, making you stumble back, drowning in memories.
Five was caught by surprise, not catching you in time. “What the fuck?” He heard you mutter under your breath. He felt the burst of energy as well, it nearly knocked him over. With your distressed state, he assumed that you did accidentally get a glimpse of his memories.
“You weren't joking. Holy shit.” You were in denial even after he said your name, even after seeing yourself in his vision. It scared you to know that a completely different version of you existed in someone else's life.
From what you saw, Five had lived a comfortable and peaceful life with you. Apart from him killing people every time he had to. His memories were full of you, full of him being stressed as he thought of ways to solve the apocalypse, and a reoccurring memory of him pulling the trigger causing a bullet to go straight through your head.
“Did I? They? Gave you anything special?” Not knowing what version of yourself were you using. His eyes darted down to the wristwatch he had on. It was your wristwatch that he took right after you died.
“Here.” Five gave you the wristwatch. “Why do you need it?”
“I can bring their memories back, but it's risky.” Five helped you stand up, a hand on your forearm.
“Risky? How?” He asks.
“I could lose my current memories.”
You didn't exactly know what led you to helping him that night, but you were sure that it was one of the best decisions you've made. He was ecstatic the moment you came back to him. Although it was selfish, but he knew that even if you refused, he would've accepted you either way.
It took a long time before the others had adjusted to your new personality and new traits. Ben also stirred an argument with Five about how he took you away from them. It was amusing to all of them, most importantly to Five. He loved seeing his Y/n interact with his family, much like what he dreamt of.
Five didn't show it, but he was deeply affected when he had a wedding without his family members attending. He dreamt of the day that he'd remarry you, but this time, with his family by his side.
Sloane and Luther you and Five slowly swaying on the dance floor, with the soft instrumental in the background, your head rested on Five's chest as his head was rested on yours. Despite the very evident gossiping from Klaus, Ben, Lila, and Diego, the both of you paid no mind to them. Only caring about each other.
Five was a romantic, a sappy old man. Despite his background as an assassin, he loved corny and cheesy things that would either make your heart melt or make you gag. Yet he'd only do these things with you, no one else could.
“They really are an old couple.” Sloane comments, taking a bite out of her vanilla cake.

— 🪐 vanya hargreeves x gn!hargeeves!reader
note(s): platonic, set in the 10th/last episode of the first season, reader's powers aren't described, reader suffers with dissociation & hallucinations (visual and implied auditory), reader and vanya have been really close since they were kids ⚠️ warning(s): mention of blood, dissociation described pretty heavily, mention of nicotine, frequent mentions of hallucinations and not being able to tell real experiences from otherwise
Tumblr media
There’s a moment of hesitation, of disbelief and disgust at even thinking the thought let alone putting it to words where the world can twist and turn it until it’s more and less than anything you could have ever known. A moment of hesitation that has only been granted to you, a silent plea that begs the question of whether you were ever really different from the others.
“Did you know?”
Vanya looks different, wrong. There’s something wrong with you too, in the way your body feels so dead and otherworldly, in the way sounds echo off the outside of your ear as if denied entry, in the way you feel as though you’re a theatre-goer enjoying the cinema as your seat is being slowly pulled further and further away from the screen until all you can see is your own eyelashes infront of you.
Vanya must know this, in a way she can see your expression — not a moment spared to wonder how she can even do that — chiseled into your face yet wobbling with uncertainty; Neither of you are okay.
“Did you know?” She repeats.
You’re not sure. You fear you may never be certain, may never know without a doubt whether you know this, or anything at all.
You should say no, you should be the person Vanya needs right now, the one who has always been there and will always be there, the one who has been with her since the first meeting and will stand on the side of all the years you spent stuck in that academy’s together. You should, you should, you should.
But you can’t.
You reason with it by saying there’s lots of things you should do; Learn to live without Vanya, reconcile with your past, learn from your mistakes, stop hating your own substitutes for flesh and blood. You should be able to distinguish between memory and dream, between hallucination and fact, between the whispers in your ears since as long as you can remember and the shouts of your siblings since longer, but you can’t.
You try to tell yourself it’s not your fault. It’s not your fault these hallucinations tricked and still trick you so easily, it’s not your fault you tried to pick them apart so extensively to the point where reality is deemed otherwise, it’s not your fault your childhood is buried so deep in a building you wish you could blame all your problems on but in the end was simply a vessel for suffering just as you are. You wish you could blame the imbalances in your brain on something unique like your powers. You wish they were something other than innate flaws in your system, you wish they were as easy to suffocate as Vanya’s apparent powers had been for all those years.
If everything wrong with you was not, and if you could tell when an experience is hand crafted by your twisted mind and when it is not, then you could have given Vanya a real answer.
Alas.
“I…. I think I…” The words barely stumble out of your mouth like a thick waterfall of blood, an uncertain and lame excuse for an answer.
Somewhere in Vanya’s mind she knows of your hallucinations, of your gripe with reality. Somewhere in her mind a small voice whispers pathetically telling her that maybe what you might have seen had felt so unreal that you’d deemed it so. Vanya cannot hear that voice. What she does hear is guilt, lacing your every word like ugly, heavy, nicotine.
Like betrayal.
Your head pounds, your eyes flutter open and somewhere in the back of your mind your change of surroundings registers as a reason to panic. You do, minimally.
A shattered bottle, dark green shards of glass digging into your skin. Dust billowing out from broken walls. Splinters biting at your arms.
Your chest is tight as though a rope is being slowly wrapped around your lungs and pulled harshly. Your throat feels as though it’s completely closed, it might be. Breathing is a laborious task, shuddering intakes of breath meet only the sharp stab of pain.
Your mind only grants you the apparent memory of when you were years younger.
A younger Vanya had her back turned to you, glasses of water singing a soft hum as she’d stared at them, almost like she was trying to will them into silence with just her mind.
A crack and a shatter. Silence.
That was when you'd turned around, walking back to your room quietly. You'd sat on your bed, staring at the wall, weighing the moment in your mind as you tried to decide what to think.
It had come down to the shattering of the glass, how you were never sure if the pieces had ever hit the ground, how not a single shard of glass had hit your skin — that you were aware of. So you’d closed your eyes and reassured yourself the whole scene had simply been your mind trying to trick you, never once bringing it up with Vanya or anyone else.
And how horribly wrong you had been.
As your ears ring and you feel as thought your limbs have been teared right off your body, you wish you could trust your mind, you wish you didn't blame yourself for all that has happened to your closest and only friend. You wish you could have not betrayed the trust of the most important person in your life, and have truthfully said that you had no idea what your sister was capable of.

my thoughts reading the first umbrella academy comic book as someone who’s been a fan of the show for years (spoilers for all seasons of the show and the first book)
•damn so we’re really getting right into reggie being an alien huh??
•WE FINALLY GET TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED AT THE EIFFEL TOWER???
•LUTHER 🥲
•can we talk about how he named his lil moon robot ben and still has newspaper articles about the academy and one about ben’s death 🥺
•literally how anyone can hate him i don’t understand
•TELL ME WHY I JUST SAW VANYA’S WHOLE CHEEKS- was the thong really necessary gerard???
•also it still feels transphobic calling her vanya even tho she doesn’t become viktor in the comics bcuz viktor’s transition was written for elliot page like ik she’s still a cis female in the books but saying vanya still makes me feel… grimy idk
•”father’s really dead, isn’t he, pogo?” LUTHER ILY
•he still calls allison rumor and is still wearing the academy mask wow luther hargreeves really is the right where you left me by taylor swift character huh
•tears are streaming down my face in a barnes and noble cafe luther are you OKAY
•someone get these siblings therapy i beg
•KLAUS!!!!!
•klaus definitely seems very similar in both versions
•”because what i found wasn’t just a place where i could hide” five trying to time travel not cuz he’s a stabbing a table with a butter knife cocky little shit but a literal child trying to hide from his abusive father is going to make me combust anyway fuck reginald
•more crying
•the A+ on luther’s paper and the D- on diego’s diego deserves better i am sobbing
•so it’s diego that thinks reggie was murdered in the comics instead of luther?? interesting
•luther and diego are so angsty jesus
•”so start acting like homo sapiens so we can bury your father” POGO PLZ-
•WHY DID DIEGO JUST STRIP GRACE????
•i have SO many questions
•i think im too dumb for this book
•which is embarrassing cuz it’s a comic book
•NOT LUTHER BITCH SLAPPING DIEGO GOODBYE-
•who in the motherfuck is dr terminal
•aidan gallagher was such a perfect casting for number five omg
•”i guess you’re right… [reginald] didn’t love me. but i haven’t spent my life pretending he did.” hello???? are we sure this is the same luther as the luther from the netflix series??
•is it just me or does klaus kinda look like mikey way???? like ik gerard wrote the series so…??
•not five bringing pogo into the fucking coffee shop- 💀🤚
•the way agnes literally does not question the fucking MONKEY god i love her
•five brutally massacring the commission goons and yet still stopping to pay for his drink and thank agnes omfg
•how are y’all shocked allison SAed luther in s3 when she literally SAs him hardly five chapters into the first book??
•it was literally out of nowhere too like- there was BUILD UP and CHEMISTRY and FLIRTING in the show and at least some villain era motivations for allison but in the book they’re literally just talking about claire and allison is still calling her Luther’s NIECE and then she just rumors him into kissing her out of nowhere??? i just audibly gasped in this barnes and noble i am sorry
•vanya is SLIM THICC
•everything is happening so fast in comparison to in the show omg
•is there *something* going on between diego and vanya like there is allison and luther?? or why is he so emotionally attached to her?? please tell me there’s not istg-
•REGINALD?????
•klaus saving the day slay!!!
•i don’t know how to feel. i just got so much information in so little time.
•FIVE AND KLAUS CONTENT YESS!!!
•POGO’S EXCERPTS ABOUT THE KIDS IM GONNA CRY
•OMFG KLAUS ACTUALLY WAS INSPIRED BY MIKEY I AM SCREECHING
•i have so many feelings

Love light (Five Hargreeves x reader)
Tumblr media
I have chapter one so I’ll post it right after this one.
This story is purely for those age regressers/littles who wonders what it’d be like if Five was a caretaker. There will be more than just age regression.
This story will include schizophrenia, ptsd, implied child abuse, self harm, trauma, childhood trauma, suicide attempt (the attempt is the at the fifth month of living with her abusive ex because he would constantly degrade her, make her feel worthless which kicks up her depression) suicidal thoughts, depression.
This is like an introduction to what is what in this story.
It’s going to be about the coping mechanism called age regression, which means the reader will go into a younger mind state.
In this story there won’t be sexual activities when the reader had age regress, because I don’t see five being the person to do that.
Why would they have that? From ptsd from their father, the abuse they endure in their childhood and from their last boyfriend/caregiver, to celebrate Elliot coming out as trans, in this story I’ll be using Viktor instead of vanya.
This story will cover sensitive topics like: abused, ptsd, depression, suicidal thoughts, self harm, when the reader is in their 18 year old state of mind there’ll be eventual smut
Five is age up to 18 just so there’s no one thinking it’s gross
I’m not in any way sexualizing age regression since I myself use it to cope from my ptsd and trauma.
His name will weaver between five or daddy depending on what mindset that’s the reader is in
That’s it. If this isn’t your cup of tea then please leave, don’t post hateful things.
Now for Five’s rules for the reader, some might be sexual since it’s going to be romantic and we know how five is with his harmones in his teenager body, plus he can get sexual if he gets to that point.
So here’s his rules for the reader.
No touching yourself without daddy’s permission
Don’t talk back to daddy
Don’t be bratty
Ask for stuff and daddy will get it
Keep your playroom clean
Go to bed when daddy tell you to
When daddy says nap time it’s nap time
Always take a shower or bath every night
Don’t break a rule
If you break a rule tell daddy
Don’t keep things from daddy
Take your punishment like a big kid
If you’re good, daddy will give you rewards
Now here the punishments
Daddy will take away any/and all devices for an hour
No playroom time
Early bedtime
no bedroom play time
Depends on the severity of the rule breaking is when daddy decides how many spankings you get
Timeout for five minutes
No playing with any of the new toys that daddy have gotten for you
Introduction
Chapter one
