“Being on Batman allowed me to do something we actors are taught never to do: overact.”

King Tut made his first appearance in the Batman episode that aired on April 13, 1966. King Tut was the first villian completely created for the show. While Zelda the Great was technically a new character, her story completely mirrored a comic starring a different villian. ("The Curse of Tut", Batman, TV event)

Happy Birthday to actor, comedian and poet VICTOR CHARLES BUONO!
3rd February 1938 — 1st January 1982
"In 1938, of parents properly licensed to produce babies, I was born. I am now rich, famous, devilishly handsome and thirty-three years old...And I don't anticipate a time in the future when I shall be anything other than rich, famous, devilishly handsome and thirty-three years old."
"In theater, you must liquefy your own personality and pour it into the skin of another character. But in films, you only liquefy part of it. You must leave large lumps of yourself sticking out. And I have plenty of advantage in that department."
"Boris Karloff played monsters, but he was the sweetest and gentlest of men. In my case, this is not true. I play monsters because it is the easiest way to say what I really feel. I am a monster, I stand up for monsters, and I think there should be a society to prevent cruelty to monsters."

VICTOR BUONO.
For a man so young when he died (only 43) he packed in a lot of amazing and very memorable roles, with over 100 in films and television alone and many more on the stage. From the mama's boy in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE (1962) to a radiation scarred mutant in BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES (1970), the Devil himself in THE EVIL (1978), the super-villain King Tut in BATMAN (TV series 1966-1968) and many more.
Trivia Factoids: His role as King Tut on the BATMAN tv series was the first original major villain to appear on the show that had never appeared in the comic book. Only later after he became a very popular tv series villain, was the character then imported to the comic book. Also: Victor would die on January 1st, the same date (though a different year) as the day other Bat-Villain Cesare Romero passed away.
