What is a Viking? (Ubbe)
Prompt: When Ubbe follows Floki’s trails to the new land, he finds more than he expected: you. Slight AU, Ubbe’s not with Torvi.
Tumblr media
The tall grass caresses your hands softly. The seagulls dance in the sky. A shiver runs through your body, the sea breeze is cold, especially at the peak of the cliff. From your position, you have visibility over the coast. Waves crash on the rocks to your left, and at your right, a vast sandy beach extends. You have been here for hours, it is your favorite spot. You love the land that you live in, even if recently there have been certain curious developments to your routine. Some time ago, from this same cliff, you were the first one who spotted him. The crazy man that spoke another language and crafted wood. He was in bad shape, malnourished, when he arrived at the shores in a tiny boat. You had taken him to your mother, Pekitaulet. Despite the cautiousness, your people welcomed him. Nevertheless, all of you were a bit on edge, he could not have been alone, could he? So you waited for the rest of his people to arrive. Waited and waited, until one day, another boat docked.
The first few days, your tribe was careful. They left the newcomers alone, just to see what they would do. They were less than you, after all. You could defend yourselves if something were to happen. Your mother, knowing how curious you were, forbade you to go near them. She did not want you to make the same rash decision you did with Floki, the mad man. It certainly took all of you not to approach them, but you managed. However, you could not help looking at them from afar. Just like Floki, they were fascinating. They wore so different clothing and acted even more so. You wanted to learn more about them. Still, that interest in their culture was nothing compared to what made you feel specifically one of them. You saw him in your first illicit exploration, he carried himself as the leader. Tall, with broad shoulders, light hair, and eyes a color you have only seen on Floki. Yet, they were a different shade, much brighter. Blue eyes. Your mother had told you before that blue eyes meant danger. But what a beautiful danger he was. You were so utterly entranced by him that he almost caught you once. You swear that he saw you; your eyes connecting with his. But then he left. Maybe he did not see you after all.
It was a few days later when they found your camp. They were following the traces your people placed for them, and they bought it. You still remember the wary look in their eyes when they saw your people. You still remember the look in Ubbe’s (you learned his name then) eyes when he saw you. He was smitten. You knew then that he had indeed seen you before. You wanted to question why he did not say anything, but you could barely understand him. That would be something for you to ask once you could communicate more.
To be honest, that first meeting was a little tense, both groups expecting attacks. It was until the little girl pulled the old man's facial hair that everyone laughed and ate. You could barely take your eyes off Ubbe. Not that he was doing a better job at concealing his interest in you. After they left, your mother chastised you. She wanted you to be friendly with them, but to be careful.
The second meeting went smoother. Their people invited you back to their camp and showed you around. You sat with your sister-in-law, Nikani, and a woman named Torvi, while you braided your hair. Torvi appraised you once you finished, though the result was a poor attempt to duplicate her hairstyle. On the other side of the camp, you saw your brothers Peminuit and We'jitu have an aim contest with Ubbe and the other men. Shortly after that, Ubbe sat with you by the fire. He wanted to tell you something, but just like you, he did not know how to express himself without words. Yet, he was stubborn. He looked you in the eyes and murmured, “du er vakker.” You smiled, although you had no idea what he meant. However, it was like no words were necessary to express each other’s feelings because, after that, he rarely parted from you. That evening, you took his people to Floki’s house.
Slowly, you learned the way of his people and he learned yours. You would dry fur for him to wear and sew beads for necklaces. He accepted all of your gifts happily and returned some. He gave you meat he hunted and a beautiful fluffy fur he brought along with him. Languages were exchanged, and you began to understand better what he said. One of those times, when Torvi was teaching you a few words, you asked what ‘vakker’ meant. Knowingly, she responded that it was ‘beautiful’. You blushed, remembering all the times Ubbe had called you that. Even so, the relationships between tribes were still fragile when one of them killed your brother We'jitu. Your family was devastated. For a moment, you thought everything accomplished would be lost. That you would have to forget about Ubbe and whatever blossoming relationship you had. Luckily, Pekitaulet was wise and wanted no war. She granted the foreigners a chance to redeem the loss. But even when they killed the murderer, everything remained tense. During the punishment and funeral, you were not able to look at Ubbe in the eyes. You were too lost in grief. And even after that, it took a while for things to settle down, for you to spend time with him again. Once you did, though, you realized him coming here was destined.
“Are you still up here?” a voice calls you softly from behind. You glance back, your husband is making his way towards you. His blue eyes shine bright in the sun. He smiles charmingly. “I thought Pekitaulet told you to be careful and not to climb the cliff for a while.”
Your guilty laugh echoes through the abyss, “I’m feeling much better now, don’t worry. Why don’t you sit beside me for a bit?” Ubbe hums but does as requested. Once settled, he takes you in his arms in a gentle embrace, placing you between his thighs.
It took more than you would have liked to learn the Norse tongue. In fact, Ubbe learned faster your language. Nevertheless, that was no barrier for your love to thrive. Steadily, the two of you became closer. You would often exchange lingering gazes, smiles, and soft touches. Everyone could see the love blossoming between the Viking and you. Soon, he asked your mother for your hand in marriage. Despite past events with his people that lead to the death of We'jitu, Pekitaulet recognized that Ubbe was a good man. She blessed the union and you became one heart.
“So,” Ubbe murmurs into your hair. He places a sweet kiss in your temple and continues, “are you going to tell me what are you doing up here?”
A few days ago, you started to feel lightheaded while in the woods. You took a nasty fall because of it, managing to injure your ankle. The healer warned you about going out until it was healed. She was about to leave when your mother requested to know the cause of your dizziness. It was no surprise what the healer responded. In fact, it was more than welcomed news. You have not told Ubbe yet. As far as he is concerned, your ankle has not healed yet.
“I just wanted to see the sundown, it is a beautiful time of the day, is it not?” You respond, gazing lovingly into your husband’s eyes.
He stares back and smiles at you. “You are beautiful.” You blush, making his smirk grow wider. He inclines and captures your lips in a small kiss. “Tell me what is it, wife of mine,” he says once he parts from you, “I know you now well enough to notice that there is something you are keeping from me. And it is not the beauty of the sundown.”
You exhale, well, it seems like you won’t be able to keep it a secret much longer. The only ones that know so far are your mother, Nikani, and Torvi (whom you befriended). You place your hand on his, softly tailing his wrist tattoos. “First, I would like to ask you something that I never had the chance to do before.” He regards you curiously, but nods. “The first time that you saw me, it was not in my camp, was it?”
Ubbe looks away sheepishly. “No. I saw you first in the woods.” He seems embarrassed, “I know you saw me too, we locked gazes.”
“Then why you say nothing to your people?” You ask.
A faint blush colors Ubbe’s cheekbones as he responds, “We had just landed, we were thirsty, and there you were, in the middle of greenery nature, all gorgeous, like a true goddess.” He peers back at you, and confidently admits, “I thought I was seeing things, losing my mind.” The hand that is not encased by yours lifts and caresses your jaw. “When I saw you again at the camp and I realized you were real…” He leaves the sentence incomplete, but you know what he means. You know too well, after all, you felt it the first time you saw him.
His utter honesty must be compensated. He needs to know the secret. “My love,” his eyes shine at the nickname, “you are right, there is something you should know.” You bring his hand slowly to your lower belly and place it there with a light squeeze. The breeze plays with your hair. You smile shyly, looking at him through your eyelashes. Ubbe inhales sharply. There is no need for words to be said, he knows what you mean, just like he always knew what you wanted to say even when you could not speak his language nor his yours. And yet, you want to say it because it is the best news ever. “Jeg er gravid.” And you know, by the look in his eyes and the smile on his face, that it is indeed the best news. He places both hands in your face to bring you closer. This time, the kiss is full of hope, love, and happiness. You can swear, to his gods or yours, that this moment, right here, was destined.

Their friend is pregnant.
↳ Pairing. Ragnar Lothbrok, Björn Ironside, Ubbe Ragnarsson.
↳ Summary. How would they react to their dear friend being pregnant.
↳ Warnings. Violence, death, abusive relationships.
↳ Note. I imagine this with them having the same kind of friendship that Ragnar had with Athelstan but with the reader. Let me know if y’all want me to make an individual part of any of these explaining further the dynamics.
Part two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ragnar Lothbrok.
He hasn’t seen you in several months and he starts to get worried because for one, you didn’t even come to the dock to greet him after another successful raid and two, you know damn well he doesn’t like to go for so long without talking to you when he is in Kattegat. He learns too much with you.
He knocks on your door one time before letting himself in like he owns it, and that he does of course. He’s the king.
“I just want to know why you haven’t even… oh,” He looks at you with wide eyes, looking down at the small round belly that has started to become prominent.
You look at him expressionless, your eyes filling with tears, he gets to you in two big steps and pulls you into his arms, one hand on the back of your neck and the other grabbing your arm so you can put it around his waist.
“My sweet dear friend, what’s the matter?” He murmurs and you sob.
“I missed you so much, o-oh for the love of Odin, my friend is here.” You cry on his chest.
“Of course I am, I’ll always come back to you,” He assures you.
You look up to him.
“I am with child,” You say and he snorts.
“I can very much see that,” He jokes but his smile vanishes when he sees the pain in your face.
“And he hates it, he hates it so much Ragnar,” You sob. “He said it’s not his child, he swears it’s yours.”
He laughs and walks with you under his arm to your bed, softly falling down and letting you get comfortable on his chest.
“I have to say, it does sounds appealing to bear a child with you,” You snort and sob softly. “But we have never had sex, for you rejected me when I asked you.”
“You wanted me to lay with you when we were camping and getting ready for a war back in the day, it wasn’t the time,” You roll your eyes. “He says my plan all along was to seduce you to become queen of—,”
“Does he even know that you’re the uncrowned queen of Kattegat?” He laughs. “It doesn’t matter, I’ll be the child’s father.”
“Why did I have the suspicion that you would say that when the time of me carrying a child come?” You ask with a small smile and he kisses your head.
“He can’t come near you anymore, he lost his chance.” He explains.
You close your eyes, forgetting everything that made you cry and remembering that Ragnar will always be there for you.
Tumblr media
Björn Ironside.
He frowns when you rush into his tent in what seems desperation, he grabs your shoulders to stop you.
“Wow, wow, wow, stop right there,” He says, and when you look at him his whole face changes. “Who did this to you?”
You have a cut on your lip and your cheek is starting to get swollen from a hard slap.
“Björn—,”
“I am not going to ask a third time, Y/N, who did this to you?” He grunts.
“Knud,” You whisper and you step in front of him when he is about to start walking, looking him right in the eye. “Björn.”
“I am going to break his arms, move.” He grunts.
“Björn, I am with child.” You snap, smacking his chest softly so he can pay attention to you.
He looks at you surprised, blinking a few times before slowly sliding his hands all over your belly.
“That’s wonderful, little one.” He whispers and your bottom lip trembles. His face suddenly turns cold. “Which means it’s going to be worse for him.”
He walks around you and out of the tent in the blink of an eye, you sigh and sit down for a few seconds on his bed, your state making things such as standing very tiresome.
After some minutes you stand up and go out looking for your friend, finding him close to the woods with a crowd around him. When you get close you realize that the father of your child is tied up to a tree while Björn is shooting arrows at him, missing on purpose to get him more scared. The whispers of the others are what makes Björn look behind his back, he smiles at you.
“Come here, my sweet one.” He says with feigned happiness, you stand on his side, ignoring the man on the tree on purpose.
“Yes?”
“What do you want from him? His leg? An arm?” He asks you entertained.
“I—,”
“Y-Y/N, p-please! Forgive me! I-I didn’t mean t-to, it was the ale!” The man cries.
“You hurt her while she’s with child and you think ale is the perfect excuse to give me? me?” Björn asks with humor, raising his arms and shooting an arrow right on top of the man's knees, smiling when he screams in pain. “Try again.”
“F-Forgive me for saying that it is not my child, I-I know you haven’t laid with n-no one else, I misunderstood your relationship with lord Björn,” The man cries in pain, sobbing like a child, he looks at you with pleading eyes. “Y/N p-please.”
You look at Björn and give him an enigmatic smile that he understands all too well.
“My friend, I could use a liver, maybe a heart,” You tell him and he hums.
“All you have to do is ask,” He says, shooting right into the man’s heart, watching the life leave his body. “Like that?”
“Like that.” You snort.
Tumblr media
Ubbe Ragnarsson.
He’s sure the gods put you in his life with a purpose, because the amount of love and happiness he feels when he’s around you cannot be normal.
He was walking around Kattegat with a smile, watching his people do their own thing and being proud of the stability that they have now thanks to a lot of his, his father and his brothers' sacrifices. He sees you and frowns when he takes in your expression, walking a little faster to get to you.
“That fucking child is not mine!” The man, whom he knows you tend to lay with from time to time, was shouting in your face. “Find the father of that child because it is not mine.”
“Well, last time I checked I am not the Christian Holy Mary to have a child from a god,” You snap at him. “Who else’s child would—?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe the prince,” The man accuses you and you gasp, he starts to point his finger at you, every time touching your shoulder in an accusatory manner. “Why don’t you go and tell him that you’re with child, uhm? Since you’re so proud of being his main whore—,”
The man can’t continue his speech because he is interrupted by Ubbe yanking him from the back. Ubbe walks to him slowly, sighing to control his dark thoughts and straddling the man. He starts to calmy destroy the man’s face, smacking him with his open hand, punching him with his fist, with his own head. You crouch down beside him at a considerable space in order to not get punched by accident, with your hand under your chin, watching your prince make a mess out of the poor man that thought he could disrespect you and continue on his day like nothing happened.
“You think you’re too good to put a child on her? Don’t be stupid, you should be grateful that you even had the opportunity to be inside of her,” Ubbe grunts, watching the man’s face unrecognizable now.
He cleans his hands on the man’s shirt and stands up, walking to you and bending his knees a little to take you in his arms. You hum and slide your hands around his neck.
“I would’ve expected Ivar to lose control like that, even Hvitserk, but you?” You murmur into his ear and he chuckles.
“I’m Viking, love,” He says as if that explains the little number he just pulled.
When he enters the Great Hall he walks directly to a chair and sits with you sitting sideways on top of him, he caresses your back distractedly while playing with your hand with his other hand.
“I’m a little scared,” You confess and he looks at you. “It’s my first child, I’m not even married and he already made sure to let me know that he will not be—,”
“You don’t need nobody but me,” He says firmly, confidence emanating from his body. “And I’m not going anywhere.”
“Ubbe, you have your own obligations with Kattegat,” You try to reason with him.
“And still, I’ll be here for you,” He whispers, pulling you to his chest and slowly sliding his hand onto your belly, you put your own on top of his. “Every step you take, I’m taking it with you, my dear friend.”
“I know you will,” You whisper and kiss the side of his head.

Tattered hears
Warning: Smut, hints of abusive marriage, cheating, swearing
Pairing: Ubbe × reader
1.01
The snap of a branch caught your attention. He was getting closer. You still made your movements, knowing if you made any noise, he’d hear you. You try to hear what direction the footsteps have gone, but the forest goes completely silent. You loved this little game of cat and mouse, you being the helpless prey and…
“Ubbe!” You squeal when he pounces from behind and pushes you forward into a tree.
You press your palms against the tree and arch your back so it’s not touching the rest of your body. Your breath hitches as the cool night air nips at your bare skin and as your lover's hand grazes against the back of your legs, then your ass cheek. He palms your ass with one hand, then another, snaking around your front to squeeze at your jaw, slipping his fingers into your mouth for you to suck on. After a moment, Ubbe lets go of you to lower his trousers enough for his cock to spring free. He rubs his cock against your cunt, which was still dripping from the previous orgasm he gave you from his mouth. He pounds into you roughly, one hand resting on the tree for balance and the other groping at your breast.
You hold your breath, waiting to see if he notices.
Ubbe abruptly spins you around so your back presses against the tree. The look on his face was hard to read. He lifts you, slides back into you, and pulls down the front of your dress so your heavy breasts are out and swaying with each thrust. Ubbe’s eyes widen as he rubs his thumb over your hard nipple. He lifts his head up to meet your gaze with a wicked grin on his face. “You are with the child again.”
“Y—yes.”
His cock reaches the sweet, soft spot that drives you crazy. You dig your fingers into the back of his neck, savoring the moment. It had been months since you last had him alone, and you weren’t sure when you’d be able to do this again. The bark from the tree scratches you, but it only adds to the thrill of fucking him when you shouldn’t be.
“Is it—”
“It’s your baby, Ubbe,” you say before clashing your lips against his.
He smiles into the kiss and says, “How many children must I give you before your husband notices, hmm?”
Muffled moans fall from your lips; you’re so lost in pleasure that it’s hard to form a sentence. You wrap your arms around Ubbe's, holding him close as he continues to thrust into you until he cums. When he’s recovered from his orgasm, he pulls out and gently places you back on the ground, then falls to his knees. Holding your skirts up, he licks at your clit until you come shaking and crying his name.
As Ubbe fixes your skirt, you catch your breath. He smirks while kissing your clothed body, breathing in your scent until he reaches your chest. He brushes his nose against yours while his fingers fix you back into the top of your dress. He raises his brows and says, “This won’t fit soon. You’ll need to size up to make space for your bump.”
“I know.”
“Does he know?”
You shrug. “I’m unsure; he doesn’t pay much attention.”
Ødger, your husband was almost loved as much as Ragner himself. He was known as a fierce warrior and was old enough to be your father. He was well respected within Kattegat by most, aside from Ubbe and his brothers. They saw who Ødger really was; the only reason they hadn’t killed him was because their mother, Aslaug, the queen of Kattegat, made them promise not to.
“When can I see you again?” You ask. After almost getting caught having sex by Bjorn, you decided to keep a distance between you to throw off any suspicions, but it was hard. Your sneaking around had started as one friend helping another, and now you were in love with someone who wasn’t your husband.
“Tomorrow,” he says, fixing himself back into his trousers. “Me and my brother are going fishing. I could take the boys with us; I get to spend time with them and see you without raising any suspicion.”
“Okay, I look forward to it.”
“I don’t know how long I can keep doing this,” he sighs. Ubbe presses his forehead against yours and says, “Leave with me.”
Your heart hammers in your chest. “What?”
“Leave Kattegat with me. We can take the boys and go.” Seeing you look hesitant, Ubbe places your hand on his chest, right above where his heart is. “You love me. I’m the father of your children, not him.”
“Ubbe…”
“Egil and Kåre are my blood, and they should be raised as such.”
Tears swell in your eyes. “Ubbe, please, we had an agreement.”
“What if I told you I wanted to end it? That I want more.” He kisses you passionately. “Elli, I would treat you right; I would give you everything you want.”
You married Ødger too young. And when you failed to fall pregnant, he became violent. The only person you shared the fear of not having children with was Ubbe. Wanting to help you, Ubbe suggested you sleep together until you were with the child. By the age of fifteen, you gave birth to your first child, Egil, and two years later, you gave birth to Kåre. Now, seven years after your secret relationship started, you are pregnant again. Throughout the years, you had hidden the way Ødger treated you, but as your sons got older, you feared for their safety.
“I’m scared,” you admit.
“If you stay with him, I’ll watch over you and the boys from a distance, but I cannot continue doing this. It’s becoming too hard; watching you fake a happy life with someone who doesn’t deserve you is painful for me. Leave Kattegat with me; we can come back one day.”
“What about your mother?”
“My brothers can protect her without me for a few years.”
Looking into Ubbe’s blue eyes, you knew what your decision would be. “I’ll go with you; as long as you promise me, you’ll always keep Egil and Kåre safe from Ødger.”
“I promise.”
Your day had gone well; your sons had gone fishing with Ubbe and Hvitzerk. Your eldest Egil was incredibly proud to present you with what he caught. You prepared the meal alone so it would be done faster, promising to show them how to gut a fish the next day. Aslaug had asked you to make her three new dresses in a short space of time. You still needed to collect more plants for dyes and more wool to turn into yarn.
Hearing Ødger’s voice, you told your boys to play outside but not to go off far. Ødger stands behind you, watching as you clean food off the table. He grunts, “We have thrall’s for that.”
“I don’t mind.”
Your husband pushes himself up behind you, causing you to scrunch up your face. Even the mere touch of him caused your skin to crawl. He brushes his mouth against the back of your neck. “I heard Ragnar’s sons were here earlier.”
“They took Egil and Kåre fishing.” You say. Ubbe had briefly discussed the plan he had made for you to leave together when Hvitzerk appeared, cutting the conversation short. Feeling your husbands hands start to grope at your body, you push him away and say, “Ødger, stop.”
“Stop?”
“I’m not in the mood for… that.”
“What?” He frowns.
“I don’t feel well,” you say, trying to walk by him.
Furious, he grabs hold of your wrist to stop you from leaving. “Is it not a wife’s job to please her husband?” When you don’t answer him, his grip tightens. “Speak woman!”
“I don’t feel well because I am with a child.”
Kåre runs inside, interrupting Ødger before he can reply. “Mother, Queen Aslaug is outside.”
Aslaug walks into your home with a smile plastered across her face while holding Egil’s hand. You were convinced she knew the truth about your son's parentage but would never ask. “I just came by to see how the dresses were coming along.” She walks closer to you and says, “My sons told me the good news.”
“My apologies; I haven’t finished the dresses yet.”
She gives you a knowing look, then politely talks to Ødger, but he quickly leaves. When he is gone, Aslaug mumbles something to herself and places her hand on your stomach, her smile fading as she does.
“What’s wrong?”
“I am told very little, but I know everything,” she says quietly. “And I know leaving Kattegat isn’t in your future.”

🙌🙌🙌🙌 Just read the one you did for me and holy shit, you are such a good writer 😭❤❤ now if it is okay I am going to do angst or on the verge of angst. One with the ragnarsson family ( both female and Male, maybe even ragnars brother if that is okay?). Their reaction if you got seriously injured maybe even dies when they left their house/town for like an raid??? ❤❤❤
Vikings preference: You get injured while they're gone
Tumblr media
Ragnar On the outside, he appears relatively calm and collected, asking you what exactly happened. Once he makes sure you're alright in general terms, he goes out to search for whoever did this to you. Tells them that if they have a dispute with him, they could have simply talked to him but now that they have committed to a violent way, Ragnar challenges them to a duel. Fairly obviously, he wins but decides to spare the offender and instead of taking their life, he takes one of their limbs. Having children with him wouldn't really influence his actions, only the severity of his anger and the damage he does to the culprit.
Tumblr media
Bjorn He's seething. Bjorn is very well aware that because of who he is, there are many people out there who don't need any more reason beyond that to spill blood. Apparently, if they can't spill his, yours is just fine. His method of solving the problem is finding whoever did this to you, dragging them out of their house, making a huge scene with an exalted speech, only to kill them in one strike in the end. Until you're alright, and he's very sceptical about your assurance, he visits you during the day but never lingers for too long. Bjorn think he should be out there to catch any scheme in the making. If you have a son of age, Bjorn will take his anger out on him partially: the boy was, after all, told to look after you when his father can't. But if you have smaller children, he's definitely not letting them out of his sight for the next month or so. Also prohibits them from spending time with strangers, just in case.
Tumblr media
Ubbe Being a prince, part of him expected something like this to happen, so he's not exactly surprised but still, he thought people had more respect towards him and his family. No matter the severity of your injury, he's off to have a 'stern talk' with the offender, which means more or less that he's going to beat them within an inch of their life while making very believable threats of what happens should they try something like that again. Until you get better, only Ragnarok itself can force him to leave your side. But if you have children, the scale is tipped instantaneously and he's not afraid to decrease the population of Kattegat. He's very family-oriented, so a threat towards his offspring is a threat towards him personally.
Tumblr media
Hvitserk Grabs Ubbe to get the problem 'sorted out' which comes down to Ubbe holding down the culprit and Hvitserk going absolutely berserk on them. If anyone asks, neither of them knows what happened. Suspiciously, the culprit themself doesn't speak up about how they got beaten nearly to death. Despite the suspicious obliviousness, everyone and anyone who once wished ill will on you are having second thoughts. If you have old enough children, he considers that 'incident' a sign to start teaching them to fight.
Tumblr media
Sigurd More baffled than angry. Out of all the Ragnarsons, he's the least notorious, so why in Gods' names did someone specifically go after you? He figures that the offence wasn't really aimed at him but rather at his entire family and the culprit went for whoever was the easiest target. Which doesn't really make him feel any better: you got seriously hurt by random chance, only because you decided to settle down with him and you, apparently, were at the wrong place, at the wrong time. Depending on how severe your injuries are, he's willing to ask Ubbe and Hvitserk to join him in going after the culprit. After that is dealt with, he begins seriously considering moving away from Kattegat. If you have children, he both decides it's time to teach them to fight but if you have a son, he's going to get the short end of the stick: Sigurd will constantly remind him that when he's gone, it's your son's responsibility to defend you.
Tumblr media
Ivar He may be a deranged individual but he's not stupid, so he doesn't storm off to fight the offender in a duel - Ivar knows his chances are slim at best. So he thinks of a perfect ruse, something that would lure the culprit into their own demise. It, quite obviously, ends up working and all of Kattegat gets to marvel at his horrendous and yet impressive genius. Whoever dared to raise their hand against you is not publicly begging for death as some of the bravest men around grimace in disgust. The message to his enemies should be considered received. For most of his life, he was quite convinced he couldn't have children so when he finally has them, he's horribly protective of them. And that means his ruse becomes slightly more unhinged.

Aslaug She can't retaliate in an equally violent way but that doesn't really matter - she has her own way of making life Hell for the offender. Aslaug exiles them publically, making sure that all of Kattegat heard about their wrongdoings. As a queen, she can go even a step further and ensure that all of Norway knows what they had done and no family or jarl will ever give them shelter.

Lagertha Publicly promises to kill them but not before a fair trial. It's not really about justice but rubbing their punishment in - in other words, she follows the way of the Gods to make sure that the culprit goes through absolute torture in this life and the next one. Once the verdict is announced, she spares no time in driving her sword through their chest. Similarly to Ragnar, having children doesn't really influence her choice of actions but only how much anger she expresses and the unsavoury language she uses.

Emotions were all she ever knew. Bad ones, painful ones. She didn't understand why she felt them so intense, whenever something happened. People usually got hurt very badly if she got upset. A little girl that could kill people in the most torturous way possible, without even having to move a single finger or having the thought in mind.
The town she lived in always said that her "witch" of a mother was the reason behind this cursed child. They tried hurting her but she ran, she ran straight into a group of men. No not just men, women were there too. Women she couldn't help but stare at. None of the people in her town looked like them.
Her town was called Wessex, rumors were that in the earlier years, vikings have already been there, even had a deal with the great king Ecgberht. But that was years ago, way before the little girl was even born.
The man in front of the group smirked slightly before he leaned down to her height. "Now who might you be? You wouldn't know where a witch named Meredith lives, would you?" The man studied her features, each one identical to her mothers, except the ocean blue eyes. A feature left from her father.
Taking a step back she tripped over her own leg only to be caught by the man in front of her. He wore his hair in a braid and his beard was longer than she ever saw anyone wear. His eyes didn't hold any danger in them, maybe curiosity, but nothing she had to be scared of. Calming her nerves slightly she stood up straight again.
"witch?" She tilted her head confused, not understanding what that word really meant, only hearing it when someone insulted her mother. Her eyebrows furrowed in anger. "My momma was no witch! She was a healer and helped lots of people!" Pushing away from him, she heard something snap behind the man.
A man holding his arm, which was twisted in a weird angle. The man was screaming in pain as his legs twisted as well, painfully bringing him to his death. It took the little girl some time to snap out of her emotions and look over to the man, only to gasp at the state of the man.
Covering her eyes quickly with her hands she turned away, a quiet sob escaping her. The other men gasped in fear, she had to be blessed by the gods they thought. "By the gods it is true!" The man with the braid laughed and pulled her into his chest. "You are coming home with us, little one. Bet you want to meet your family!" Peeking through her fingers she nervously chewed her lip. She wasn't sure if she could trust him, but her momma once told her a story about a man she could always trust if he ever came to her. A man named Ragnar Lothbrok.
The man, who was carrying her, didn't look exactly how her mother explained, but his icy blue eyes reminded her of him. "Are you Ragnar Lothbrok?" Her voice came out in a whisper as she held onto him. A laugh rumbled in his chest as he put her down on the boat. "I am his son, Björn Ironside. My father and I were often here in Wessex, he met a woman, a healer he used to tease by calling her a witch, they shared a bed and later on rumors spread, that she was with his child. You. I am your brother, we're going to Kattegat, our fathers home. Our home."
Confusion settled in the little girls chest, she didn't fully believe him, but somehow she thought she could trust him. The hope of having a family battling the fear of getting killed or worse.
They traveled for months on no end, the little witch started to enjoy the sea. She learned many things thanks to her brother. The gods became her favorite topic, next to her having four more brothers back at home. Giggling she ran over to Björn. "Brother! When will we arrive?" Excitement settled in her bones as she held onto his hand, looking up to him with wide eyes. Björn couldn't help but smile slightly at how excited she was. "We will arrive soon, look."
When she looked into the distant she saw land becoming bigger, they were close, just about to reach it. She was nervous, he had warned her about how different each brother is, but she was excited. Excited to see a family she longed for. Excited for a land that would also belong to her in some way.
As they arrived she was nervous, people looked at her weirdly, making her scared that she might hurt someone. Björn was walking in the front with her, three men waiting for them in a big hall. The girl had already heard a lot about them and could easily tell who each one of them was. But one wasn't here, she was disappointed.
The men looked at Björn confused. "Welcome home, brother. I see you did not return alone, who is that child?" Ubbe smiled slightly walking up to them. "She's our sister. Father laid with a woman from Wessex, she was a healer I got to know her a bit." The little girl started fidgeting with her hands, trying to release some of her stress. Ubbes eyes found hers, she could only see kindness in them.
A chuckle came from where the other two stood, the blonde man laughing at how ridicules this sounded. "Be serious, brother. You couldn't possibly believe something that stupid." Sigurd was being gruesome, looking at the child in disgust at how her clothes looked. She was no child of Ragnar for him. she didn't look like one either. Sneering he gave her one last glare as he walked away.
Biting her lip she looked to the ground, counting the seconds and minutes so she could calm down. A sigh came from the other three men. Hvitserk slowly made his way towards her kneeling down so he was her height. A smile forming on his face as he studied her eyes, the blue reminding him of his little brother. Even the white in her eyes was a little blue.
„Looks like Ironsides is telling the truth.“. A grin spread on Hvitserk face as he stood up straight. Soon there was a clicking sound to be heard. Ivar came into the great hall, wondering what all the noise is about, having only heard parts of it. „Gods would you just keep it down, Hvitserk.“
Fear settled in her stomach, she was terrified of meeting Ivar ever since Björn told her all the stories about him. When her eyes finally met his she couldn't help but flinch. His eyes matched hers the most. They were almost identical and a giddy smile formed on her face, before she could stop herself. With him it was the clearest that he was her brother. "I heard Sigurd whine about our brother having found some bastard child from father, that couldn't seriously be his..."
Ivar leaned down towards the little girl, tilting his head slightly, inspecting her, before grinning like a lunatic. "But as I see she looks more like a child of Ragnar than he does." Hvitserk laughed and Ubbe couldn't help but grin a little at Ivars statement. All of them were nervous for his reaction, since he was the hardest to please, but somehow her eyes made him realize it the quickest.
The little girl couldn't believe how easy they all accepted her and included her in everything. Everyone except Sigurd. He spread the rumors of her having some powers, but instead of making the people be disgusted of her they started admiring her, bringing her brothers gifts for her. Every person in Kattegat thought she was a god. How couldn't she be? A child of the great Ragnar Lothbrok, it was about time one of them had to become a god.
Even her brothers sometimes believed it, but they also soon learned that her power held a lot of danger. Ivar was the first to notice that her eyes, like his, told in what situation her powers would be. If they were blue in the whites, then it was dangerous for her to interact with a lot of people meaning, keeping her with Ubbe and Hvits would be the wisest decision. Of course they trusted Ivar with her, but most of the times Ivar himself was somewhat worried about upsetting her too much.
On her good days she would walk with her crippled brother through the market, helping him get things and later on hearing about all the adventures he went on. She wouldn't tell but she did like him the best, since he understood her the most. Ubbe was a close second. Björn left for another raid soon after he brought her to the others, which sandend her the most was that he didn't even say goodbye.
She loved her brothers very much, even Sigurd. Ivar was very protective of her when it came to him. He was never allowed too close to her or to be alone with her. It was rare that Ivar cared that much, but he knew how cruel Sigurd could be if he wanted to, and he didn't want her to go through the same things he himself went through.
During a feast late at night she sat with her brothers, giggling and laughing as Hvitserk told her the funniest stories and Torvi braiding her hair, she felt whole. Ivar was sitting in the throne looking over the people, seeing how they looked at his sister in fear, he liked that they feared her even if they thought she was a god, but he also knew how it upset her that they avoided her at all costs when she was close.
Sigurd hated everything about her actually being treated like all of his brothers, like an actual child of Ragnar even though Ragnar himself never even knew her. On this particular night he drank one too many cups of ale and his company wouldn't stop talking about how great her powers are and how she was the hope for the people in Kattegat. The hate he felt for Ivar was nothing compared to the hate he felt for her. It made him see red, he got up and walked straight up to her as she was wandering around the hall, looking at different things.
Ivar was watching her carefully, making sure nothing could happen. Sigurd grabbed her arm forcefully making her stop and turn towards him, a gasps escaped her. Looking up to him she gave him an excited smile. "Brother! Are you enjoying the feast? Ubbe said I may not try the ale yet because-" But he interrupted her by grabbing her face hard and squishing her cheeks together. "I am not your brother! Neither are they!" He pointed to were Ubbe and Hvitserk were laughing together. "Just because Ragnar laid with some bitch in Wessex doesn't make you anything to us! Oh and Ivar? He's playing his own games, he only keeps you around so that you can help him archive the power he wants!" A smirk was on Sigurds face as he watched how tears streamed down her cheeks and how her lip quivered.
Sadly for him he did not notice the blue of her eyes and how she was further away from the others, to calm her powers. One might think that the ax hitting him in the back was her, but people tend to forget how hotheaded Ivar the boneless was, now that he seemed calm compared to his sister. Ivar couldn't help it and threw the ax, hearing his brothers harsh and hurtful words, making him not realize what he was doing as his hand found the weapon.
Ivar didn't mean to kill his brother, panic spread in his chest as he quickly limped over to the two of them. The little girls eyes were wide and still filled with unshed tears as she did her best to keep Sigurd upright. Of course she was upset with him, but he was still her beloved brother, even if he didn't see himself that way.
The hall quieted down quickly. Hvitserk and Ubbe were quick to join their siblings helping the girl to carefully lay down their brother. Both shot daggers with their eyes at Ivar, who was slightly trembling, scared to have actually killed him. Ubbe tried to pull her away from Sigurd, not wanting her to see so much blood at such a young age, not caring about viking tradition at this point. This was her brother dying, she shouldn't see him like that.
But she had other plans. As if it was instinct, she pulled away from Ubbes hold and pulled the ax out of Sigurds abdomen. Her hands covering in blood as she pressed them onto the open wound applying as much pressure as she can before closing her eyes, saying a quiet prayer to the gods. Repeating the prayer over and over again in barely a whisper her eyes shot open, the blue now seeming like it glowed, making the men around her flinch slightly.
They all saw the wound healing. It healed quickly, way quicker than anything else and her eyes soon stopped glowing as the wound was completely gone and Sigurs eyes snapped open. The little girls eyes closed slowly as she released him from her grip and dropped exhausted to the ground, making Hvitserk quickly catched her head, before it hit the floor, picking her fully up. All of them were silent for a moment as they listened to Sigurds heavy breathing.
None of them could believe how blessed they were, having a sister as strong as her. It didn't matter to them if she was a god or a simple witch blessed by them. All that mattered to them was that she was safe and taken care of. She was so young with such great power. A power she needed help with, a power that they all had to tame with her. But it was alright, if that's what it takes for her to feel loved and needed.
The Ragnarssons could not hide the fact that their sister was the reason they all connected fully again. She truly was a blessing from the all father.

You could take a shot where the oc is a slave and meets Ubbe while he is married to Margrethe and ends up getting involved with him, and this generates a child. Margrethe goes crazy and begins to threaten oc and her son, when Ubbe finds out about getting angry and protective.

“Oh gods!” You moaned one more time.
Your body was bent over the table, gown hiked up on your waist while Ubbe pounded behind you quickly, his hands with a firm grip on your hips while yours held onto the table like your life depended on It. His hips slammed against yours making the sound of skin slapping against skin echo through the walls.
“Sing to me, little bird.” He begged for your moans like he begged every time, like he wasn’t dragging the sounds from you with every thrust of his hips.
You mewled, whined and moaned, gripping at the table with full force while his hands left your hip, rubbed against your back for a moment before taking the knife he still had on the back of his trousers and with one stroke he tore the dress in two, exposing the skin of your back which he rubbed, dragging his hands up your shoulders and pulling you up until your back hit his chest, the new, strange angle, making his cock reach your sweet spot and making you see white stars behind your eyelids.
“I love to hear your singing.” He whispered in your ear while both of his hands grabbed the front of your gown that was already loosened up and pulled down, exposing your breasts to the cold air of your house, your nipples were hard and sensitive when he touched them, tugging at the little nubs with the tip of his fingers. “Sweet, sweet sounds...”
You raised your hands and hugged his neck, eyes rolling to the back of your head as you felt him speeding up his thrusts, you knew he was close. He grunted low in your ear, dragging you to the edge, making the coil on your lower stomach snap all of a sudden and a loud moan escaped through your lips. He followed close behind, coming inside you for the second time that night, filling you up with his seed.
“How am I supposed to go home now?” You asked as you tried to hold together the rags of your dress.
After straightening out his clothes he covered your shoulders with his fur, protecting your upper body.
“This can’t keep happening.” You mumbled, holding the fur around your body.
“And yet here we are.” He answered, fingers touching your chin, raising your head so you could look him in the eyes. “I can’t stay away from you.”
His touch stayed with you until the next morning, burning on your skin like wildfire.
You couldn’t stay away from him either, answering his calls anytime he asked, melting into his touch every time his hands met your skin. You were incapable of saying no to him, incapable of keeping your distance.
Ubbe was a menace, you knew that since the first time you saw him. Aslaug bought you as a slave and you tried to serve the household in peace, you didn’t want trouble, let alone trouble with the princes, but that was before his gaze followed you around the great hall while you worked, before his eyes always seemed to find you through the crowd, lingering until it became unbearable and you had to look back.
He tried to be subtle about It, tried to hide behind his cup and tried to pay attention to the conversation going around, but at the end of the night, after everyone else was gone, he found you in the kitchen. He would talk to you for hours while you finished your chores, sometimes he even helped you a little. His lingering touches seemed to ignite a fire inside your body and were the end of you, before you knew, you were  taken.
“I’m with child.” You said It one night, laying on his chest. He looked at you and smiled big, his eyes sparkling blue when he looked at you.
“The gods had finally blessed me with a child.”
“It’s not a blessing, Ubbe.” You sat down by his side, looking at him. “What am I going to say to everybody?”
“You don’t have to say anything, I’m going to take care of you.”
“What about Margrethe?”
“She’s not who I thought she was, I don’t love her.”
“This is not right.” You mumbled.
“Come here.” He asked, holding your hand and pulling you back to his chest, you went with It, hugging his waist while he caressed your hair. “I’ll talk to her. I want you.”
The next day, you didn’t hear the footsteps behind you or noticed the sound of Margrethe’s heavy breathing, but felt a pair of hands pulling on your hair.
“You stole my husband!” She screamed, throwing your body on the floor.
Margrethe dragged you from the kitchen towards the great hall, pulling you by the hair. You screamed trying to get rid of her hands, fearing for the baby growing inside of you
“I will kill you!” Margrethe stated, throwing you in the middle of the great hall, the commotion catching the attention of the other servants who were too scared to do anything and didn’t even understand what was happening.
“Leave me alone!” You screamed.
She sat on your hips, holding your arms under her knees while you struggled under her weight. Margrethe hit you on the face two or three times before someone finally stepped in, taking her body from the top of you. You quickly crawled back away from her, face turned totally red in utter embarrassment, tears gathering on the corners of your eyes as you looked around searching for Ubbe.
“I will never leave you alone.” She screamed back at you. “You will never be free to be with him, you’ll never be happy!”
You ran away from the great hall, tears streaming down your face, clouding your vision, you ran blindly until you bumped into something firm, a pair of hands held your shoulders and you looked up, pale blue eyes looking worriedly at you while trying to calm you down.
“Little bird.” He called you, holding your face between his hands, touching your wet cheeks. “What happened?”
“She cursed me! She said I’ll never be happy!” You whined.
“Who? Margrethe?” He asked with a frown and you nodded. “I’ll talk to her.”
“NO MORE TALKING!” You scolded. “She humiliated me in front of everybody, she cursed me! We should end this before it gets worse.”
“What are you saying?”
“She said she’ll kill me, Ubbe…” You mumbled before moving away from him, untangling your body from his arms. “It’s better If we stay away.”
Months had passed since that talk with Ubbe, Aslaug freed you and helped you run away, gave you a farm where you could hide away from Margrethe, every now and then she would visit to check on you.
“You’re bigger every time I see you.” Aslaug joked, hugging you tightly. “It’s almost time.”
“Yeah…” You smiled shyly.
“Ubbe is worried, he wants to come and see you.”
“I don’t know…” You fumbled through the kitchen while she sat at the table.
“He misses you. It’s been months, Margrethe won’t be a problem anymore.”
“What happened to her?”
“She’s crazy, she’s been talking to herself, wandering.”
“She’s more dangerous then.”
“Ubbe can protect you.”
“What If he sails away?”
“You’ll stay with me.”
You missed him too, missed him so much. Every time the child moved inside your belly, every time it kicked when you talked, you thought about him, about his reaction, he missed so much of your pregnancy already you felt guilty about It, he said he wanted to be part of your life but you closed that door.
“Let him come. He wants to be with you for the birth.” Aslaug insisted and looked at her. “He’s the father of your child and wants to be there for you when the time comes.”
Ubbe came the next morning, you saw him walking towards your house by the beach, his shoulders brushed and head low, he seemed tired and sad, but as soon as his eyes met yours, his face completely lit up and he smiled. You felt warm all over, like your body missed his eyes on you and you gently rubbed your belly while waiting for him to reach you.
“Little bird…” He mumbled, a few feets away from the opened door of your house where you stood waiting for him.
You moved to the side and silently asked him to come in, he obeyed quickly and you closed the door behind his back. When he turned to you, his face was focused on your belly, his arms along his body while he closed his hands in fists, like he was using all his strength to keep himself from touching you.
“I missed you.” He simply said, his eyes following up your body ‘til he found your face. “Are you good?”
“I am.” You answered shyly. “We are.”
He took a few steps towards you and you took the same steps back, his face fell, his smile died on his face.
“Are you?” You asked him and he nodded. “You hungry?” You walked past him and started fumbling in the kitchen. “I can make you something.”
“No… Can we talk?”
“Sure…”
“Little bird… Look at me.”
“What?”
“Sit with me.”
You obeyed, both of you sitting side by side at the kitchen table, he looked at you for a moment and before he said anything his hand reached for your belly, softly touching your swollen frame. Your whole body lit up like a fireplace, like the warmth from his touch was everything you needed, a familiar sensation of relief washed over you when you felt his hand on your body, a sensation you didn’t know you needed until you finally felt it. He rubbed your belly gently and just like magic your baby kicked against his touch, making his face contort with a smile.
“I want you to come back with me to Kattegat.” He simply said, his hand still on you.
“Ubbe…”
“This is nonsense. I love you, you love me, you’re carrying my child, we shouldn’t be away from each other.”
“I-I… What about Margrethe?”
“She’s more dangerous to herself than she is to anybody else.”
“Aslaug told me…”
“You don’t have to hide.”
“She promised to kill me.”
“I will never let anything happen to you.”
You covered his hand with yours and sighed heavily, looking away from his face, trying to avoid his gaze, but he touched your face with his free hand and made you look at him.
“I want our baby to be born where it’s safe, away from the city, away from Margrethe.”  You mumbled. “Please.”
Ubbe leaned towards you and held your face with both of his hands, pulling you into a kiss that you happily corresponded, kissing him back. It was different from every other kiss you shared, was sweet and calm, filled with worry. He hugged you tightly and you laid your head on his shoulder.
“Please.” You repeated.
He didn’t answer, meaning you would come back to that conversation later, but he didn’t insist on taking you away before the birth.
Ubbe kept coming to visit you everyday until he finally decided to stay with you. You were on the last days of your pregnancy and It could happen at any time when he decided to stay and for the first time you felt like you could raise a family with him. To feel his presence around the farm was everything you ever wished for.
You watched him fondly from the door when you felt a sharp pain on your lower abdomen, making you lean forward with your hands on your belly.
“Ubbe…” You mumbled as you felt something wet coming down your legs. “Ubbe!” You caught his attention, his face dropped and he ran to you.
“Are you alright?” He asked as he wrapped his arms around you, stopping you from falling to your knees.
“I guess it’s time…” You murmured, looking up at him with a weak smile, he widened his eyes.
“I’ll go find my mother…” He told you while helping you inside, taking you to the bed and helping you while you laid down.
“Don’t leave me.”
“I’ll be right back, be strong.” He kissed your forehead and left through the door.
By the time he came back, you were already covered in a thin layer of sweat, your hair glued to your dampen face, cheeks flushed, body trembling. Ubbe appeared one more time by your side and you felt while two delicate hands touched your knees, that’s when you noticed Aslaug’s presence.
“I’m here little bird…” He reassured you, sitting by your side on the bed.
“Ubbe…” You whined.
“You’re going to be alright.” Aslaug told you while holding up the skirt of your dress, exposing yourself to her.
Ubbe held your hand firmly, leaning over you to rub his lips on your wet forehead, covering you in warm praises, telling you how proud he was of you, how strong you were. You used all your strength to push your baby out, your chest moving up and down with your heavy breathing, body arching while you grunted under your breath. Every new push made you scream and cry in pain. He looked from you to his mother, worried It was taking too long.
“One more time, little bird… One more time.”
You pressed his hand with yours and screamed louder than before, almost sitting down ‘til you finally pushed your baby out, his cries filled your home and your ears, and you smiled weakly as you watched Aslaug handing the baby to Ubbe.
“It’s a boy.” She announced proudly and he sat back by your side. “You blessed me with a boy.”
The days in the farm were easy, with your boy growing up stronger each day, you lived the family life you always wanted, to watch Ubbe holding the baby while playing warmed up your heart.
“Mother wants to see him.” Ubbe told you that morning, a tiny smile on his face as he watched while the baby held his big finger.
“She can come anytime she wants, I’ll prepare something for us.” You answered without looking at him.
“She wants us to go to Kattegat.” He told you and you widened your eyes, stared at him in panic. “She told me Margrethe is gone, left for a few months now and no one had known anything about her since then.”
“Are you sure?” You asked suspiciously and he nodded.
It took you a few minutes to digest the information, but you eventually agreed with him and both of you left the farm, your first time since you got there. You were nervous, but Ubbe held your hand the entire time, holding little Æirik in his arms. As soon as you got there, you saw a few familiar faces but you were confident enough to walk by his side, the few weird looks you got were quickly repeled by his firm stare.
Aslaug received you on the great hall and immediately took Æirik in her arms, showing the baby around with the biggest smile, Ubbe sat at the table pulling you into his lap, bringing you into the conversation with his brothers, but you never really stopped following Aslaug around, just checking on her with the baby.
For a moment nothing was really bothering you, the conversation going around was actually very calm, the voices mingling together as you talked to Hvitserk, laughing over a stupid joke he made until you looked around and lost sight of Aslaug.
“Where’s your mother?” You murmured against Ubbe’s ear catching his attention.
“She’s probably back there.” He pointed over the doors to the rooms and you frowned.
“I’m going to see if she’s alright.” You untangled yourself from his arms and walked towards the rooms.
At first you were just confused, looking for Aslaug just to know if she needed any help with the baby, but when you saw her body lying unconscious on the ground, you felt your heart race.
“Aslaug!” You called for her kneeling on her side, turning her body so you could see her face. A deep cut on her forehead letting you know she was hurt by someone else.
You heard baby cries coming from outside and immediately ran to the back door, just in time to watch a silhouette running in the dark. The blond hair was the first thing you noticed, and you knew who that person was.
You came back running to the great hall, screaming on your way to make everybody stop what they were doing.
“SHE TOOK MY BABY!” You screamed in panic, running towards Ubbe who looked at you with a frown. “She hit Aslaug in the head and she took him! SHE TOOK HIM!”
Ubbe got up and held your shoulders, he kissed your forehead before running to the back, his brothers followed him and so did their man. You felt a pair of hands around your body and you looked back, Torvi was hugging you tightly, trying to comfort you as you cried in despair.
Aslaug was brought inside by Freydis who helped her sitting back on her throne, already waking up but still a little dizzy, when her stare finally focused on you she busted out crying, hands reaching for yours as she mumbled:
“I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry!”
You kneeled in front of her, holding her hands with yours and calmed her down:
“It’s not your fault… It’s not your fault!”
Meanwhile Ubbe ran through the woods followed closely by his brothers and his men, all of them looking for any sign of the baby. When they finally reached the beach, he found Margrethe by the sea, the baby crying in her arms while she looked straight in his eyes.
“Margrethe…” He called her name, slowly walking towards her.
“You left me…” She mumbled, moving her gaze from him to the baby. “You left me for this, because I couldn’t give you a son!”
“No, it’s not like this, please, let’s talk.”
“You wanted a child and I couldn’t give you one, that’s why you chose her.”
“Please, give me him, we can talk through this, don’t hurt him.”
“Hurt him? You think I want to hurt him?”
“Why did you steal him?”
“Wanted to make you see that I can be a good mother too, you can accept me back if we have him! You don’t need the witch, she already gave you a son, I know you love me!”
“Margrethe, give me him, please…”
As Ubbe walked towards her, she took the same steps back, walking into the ocean. He feared for his son’s life, he didn’t want to scare her away.
“Come back to me, please?! Come here…” He opened his arms trying to invite her in. “Come here…”
As she convinced herself he was accepting her call, she walked over to him, a weak smile on her face as she finally had the chance she always wanted. Ubbe received her in his arms, held her and tried to get the baby from her arms, which she allowed. When the baby was finally in his arms, Ivar had her chest under his aim and released the arrow that hit her in the heart. Her body fell back on the water while Ubbe looked at her with widened eyes.
“What have you done?” He asked in shock, looking at Ivar.
“I saved your life, you can thank me later.”
When they finally came back, you ran towards Ubbe who quickly handed you your son, who you hugged tightly against your chest. Heavy tears coating his little head as you kept crying and kissing his face.
“What happened to Margrethe?” You asked between cries.
“She’s gone.” Ivar answered from behind Ubbe’s back and you looked at him in shock.
“Is she dead?” You asked with widened eyes, looking from Ivar to Ubbe and Ubbe nodded. “Is it over?”
“It is.” Ubbe answered before hugging you, rubbing your back and kissing the crown of your head. “It’s over, little bird.”

Foe's regret I
Tumblr media
Author's note: Hello there! Here comes this fic you chose to come. At this part I have to say that one more part has left to come from this series. Thank you for supporting me. I wasn't planning on delivering this today. I had it in store for Christmas as a gift to you all, but I couldn't keep myself from posting it, so here it is. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Pairing: Ubbe x Reader.
Genre: Mini!series, drama, angst, violence, slight romance.
Summary: Your life is about to change again, probably this time things will get better... or not.
Warnings: Violence (emotional and physical), mentions of murder (strangulation), strong language.
My enemy and me masterlist | Nemesis's wish | Enemy's cruelty | Rival's touch |
Days and nights had past but everything felt the safe inside your prison. Only this time you weren't only miserable and hopeless, but also betrayed and filthy after that disastrous of a night.
You wanted to run away from Kattegat – from Ubbe. But you knew that this wasn't even an option – not after what had happened the previous time. You wouldn't even dare to lay a foot outside the Hall without someone on your tail.
However, that wasn't the only reason behind this. Your son had a huge impact on your decision. Even if you ever found the opportunity to leave this place for good, Ragnar would hate you for taking him away from his father. A father who was Ubbe Ragnarsson – a magnificent warrior, descendant of Odin himself. The child was his first-born – his heir – you had no right to take him away from him.
On the other hand, you couldn't leave on your own. You couldn't stay away from your son – your heart wouldn't bear not to see him for a day let alone a whole life. The only meaningful thing you had in this life was your son – without him you were dead.
The thundering sound of a goblet falling startled you and forced you out of your thoughts into the atrocious reality. Around you men and women were laughing and drinking, fighting and eating, talking and dancing. It was another feast that you had to pretend to be the perfect wife. False smiles and identical words and promises were all you could see behind the masks of all those pretenders that were surrounding the Hall.
"You don't seem to enjoy yourself." Drunken, slightly hoarse voice spoke from the seat next to yours. It was a familiar one though it didn't belong to your husband – it belonged to his younger brother.
"I am afraid you are mistaken, Hvitserk." You answered and you glanced at the drunk man. Then your eyes went back at the crowd.
You weren't in mood of starting any conversation – even with Hvitserk. You wanted to stay on your seat drinking ale from your goblet until the night was off – and you prayed for it to end soon enough because you couldn't stand seeing her swinging around the Hall giggling with the guests full of your husband's child. And your husband's eyes were only on her, the love of his life – now you knew damn well that he was lying he hated you because he couldn't be with her and you were hating him more than before. More than ever.
"Well, I won't push you to talk if you don't want to, but you should know that if you ever need to spill your guts and let of steam, I'll be here." Those were the realest words you had ever heard coming from someone else – from someone who was too drunk to reconsider the words coming out of his mouth. And yet it didn't seem this way, it seemed like Hvitserk meant each one of them.
You turned your gaze on him properly this time. Maybe he was right you should speak to someone – you should take this weigh off your shoulders, but you knew that Hvitserk couldn't be the one. He was Ubbe's brother and in love with Margrethe. Torvi couldn't be that person either, she was his brother's wife – practically his family.
That resulted to you having no one for once more. You were utterly alone, but you were used to it by now.
"You know that we can't really talk, don't you?" You asked him in low tone of voice and he turned his gaze on you. Green eyes gazing right inside your shuttered soul.
Hvitserk shook his head and chuckled. You looked at him frowning in curiosity.
"Ahh, yes. I almost forgot for a moment that you are more like a bird imprisoned in a golden cage than my brother's wife." You almost smiled at the comparison he managed to make.
"I was never the second as for the first I start to think that the only thing missing is the wings." You tried to play along, but the melancholy didn't let you be as playful as Hvitserk was when he pointed out the similarity between you and a caged bird.
Hvitserk left the goblet on the table and sat properly on his seat, his eyes were only on your figure along with his attention. It was like he was totally sober for a moment.
"You mean he broke your wings the only time you dared to walk out of that cage?"
"Something like that." You smiled sadly, recalling which moment he was talking about.
"And yet you love him. Still."
You frowned. You opened your mouth to protest – to accuse him of lying, to give him one by one all the atrocious reasons that his remark couldn't be true. You almost wanted to rip the collar of your dress and show him the scars of his brother's large hands on your neck of all the time he almost strangled you. But most of all you wanted to yell at him because he dared to say such an awful and offensive thing.
"You don't need to persuade me of the opposite." He continued and grabbed his own goblet taking a long sip of his drink. "I don't know the reason behind all this horrible situation you have to live in – well, in fact, I know it – but I wish things were different between you and him. You are a good woman – you deserve a lot of things and surely this torment isn't one of them. He is a good man as well, but he is stubborn and I can say that he loves you back."
You didn't want to hear anymore. You didn't know which your reaction should be. Not because you were shocked or believed any of his words. You knew that Ubbe didn't love you – he hated you. He had even told you that he loved her that night.
Before Hvitserk could even start again talking about Ubbe's hypothetical love about you, you dumped your own goblet on the table in front of you and left your seat.
"Don't say anything else. Ubbe himself told me that he loves her." You said quickly and stormed in your chamber before Hvitserk could answer you.
You didn't need to hear anything else about Ubbe or Margrethe. In fact, you didn't even want to see them for the rest of the evening. You needed a night away from all this despair – you deserved it after everything you had been through lately.
However, your silence didn't last long because Ubbe stormed in the room more frustrated than you did a few minutes ago.
"What do you want?" You asked him angrily because of his sudden appearance in there.
"Are you out of your mind?" He yelled and kicked the table flipping it over, throwing all the decorations on the floor.
"No, you are out of your mind!" You were yelling too now. You couldn't believe at the audacity of that person. All he did was coming in and yelling at you over and over and over again. It was all a circle happening again and again the same thing and you were tired of re-living the same scene every day.
"I am not the one who caused a whole scene in front of so many people and left! What do you think you are doing?"
"Are you serious? I caused a scene? I was talking with Hvitserk! Just a civilised talking! Something you can't do apparently because all you do is yelling!" You yelled back. All you asked was for a simple night. A silent one which meant away from him and his madness. He was mad – there wasn't any other excuse behind all of his behaviour. However, you couldn't find a proper reason he was in such a state. You hadn't caused any scene in there.
"Don't bring this on me, woman!" He was very angry – you had seen him this way multiple times before and you knew what was to follow. His hands were running through his braids uncontrollably and you couldn't understand the reason he was so mad. "You are the one who humiliated me and my family!" His finger pointed out on you and you scoffed – you couldn't help it – and it enraged him more.
Within a couple of seconds one of his hands was on your throat pressing it until you had no breath in your lugs. Nothing new – just some bruises and marks that you had to hide under your clothing. Ubbe pushed you back on the wall – your back hit so hard that all the inches of your body were shaken.
"You humiliate my name and you have to get punished for it!" He growled and you looked at him as angrily as he eyed you. You weren't going to lose this time – not again. And most importantly you couldn't let him know that you were afraid. He couldn't know.
"What are you going to do that you haven't done yet? What, huh?" You challenged him, looking him in the eyes. You wouldn't back down.
A sardonic smirk formed on his face when he heard your words and his face came closer to yours. You weren't used to be this close to him. Your faces were mere inches apart and without your approval your eyes stared on his masculine features.
"I am going to take Ragnar away from you. You are going to see him again when you will act properly." His tone was normal again, but his nerves weren't. Your eyes widened and you tried to do something you hated yourself for the same moment you did it. You raised your hand and tried to hit him – to slap him on the cheek – but his hand stopped you.
After that, both of his hands were gripping you firmly and this time maybe he would make his dream coming true – he was going to strangle you to death and as he said once; nobody would suspect him.
Your eyes widened again, but this time not because of the fact that he was going to kill you this time, but because you were going to hit him. You had never done that before – never. You had thought about it plenty of times, but never did it.
You closed your eyes waiting for your death and tears rolled from your eyes – tears because you tried to hit him. He had done horrible things, but you – you weren't this beast. Images of your son were flashing before your eyes at you last moments.
But you didn't die at the end of day, because the door opened and Hvitserk along with Sigurd and Bjorn forced Ubbe away from you. They tried to help you when Ubbe was forced away from you, but you stopped them you fell on the floor coughing, trying to breathe normally again.
Bjorn and Sigurd were talking to him as Hvitserk was standing next to you trying to make sure whether you were fine or not.
"He wasn't.... going to kill me." You managed to say with clear difficulty in breathing. All pairs of eyes were following you while you were struggling to stand up.
"It didn't seem this way to me." Bjorn pointed out and you shook your head trying to convince him the thing around.
"I wouldn't kill her." Ubbe spoke finally, his burning blue eyes were only on you as your own eyes were on him. "Now leave us for a moment. We will be alright." He told them and they looked at disbelief before they walked to the door.
"We will be right outside, don't even think about it." Hvitserk warned his brother before all of them were out of the door and stayed just the two of you in the room.
Ubbe didn't try to come close to you, he stayed at his former position and neither of you talked. The atmosphere was suffocating inside the room.
"You were very lucky this time, but next time you will raise your hand on me you won't be that lucky." He warned you in much calmer tone of voice.
It was a threat – another threat.
You hated yourself for trying to hit him. He had never done it, but had done other equally awful things. You wanted to tell how sorry you felt and ask for forgiveness and you would if it was for another person. You would never leave your guard down for him again. You knew better than falling for his tricks again.
"We will see about that." You couldn't keep your mouth from saying it.
"Don't tempt me to finish what I started." Ubbe growled before he was out of the door.
"I'm sorry." You muttered when he was out of the chamber and touched your hurting neck. Tears started streaming from your eyes at the memory of you raising your hand on Ubbe.
After some hours, you un-braided your hair and put on your night-gown ready to lay on your bed, after your son was asleep. You blew out the candles and laid on your bed closing your eyes. But you didn't get to sleep, because the wooden door opened and closed. You kept your eyes shut, but your hand moved under your pillow and wrapped around your dagger's handle.
When you felt the mattress next to you moving, you turned around and pointed the dagger at the man's neck. You could recognise him under the midnight light coming from your window. You knew this person well – fortunately.
"I must confess that I wasn't expecting this." He whispered, but you didn't take the dagger away from his neck. For the first time ever, Ubbe Ragnarsson was under your mercy. That meant that you could do to him anything you liked. This was getting entertaining.
"Why are you here anyway? You should be with your wife." You reminded both of you and moved the dagger closer to the flesh of his throat.
"In case you forgot you are my wife."
"I meant your other wife."
Ubbe didn't seem to want to answer your question probably he – himself – didn't know the reason he was on your bed.
"You know that I could take this little knife of yours easily." He said and touched the tip of your blade. You smirked hoping that he couldn't see it in the dark.
"Yes, but you haven't taken it yet." You heard him chuckling and you smiled.
"No, I haven't." His voice was coming from somewhere closer than you remembered. The dagger was still pressed on his neck, but it seemed as he didn't care at all about its existence – he wasn't afraid of you and that was annoying you even more than his arrogancy.
"I could kill you and nobody could prove it was me." You recollected his own words and used them to upset it, but it had quite different effect than the one you wanted.
As an answer his hand was placed on top of yours – on top of the hand which was holding the dagger on his throat. He guided the blade closer to his flesh and you watched him thrilled as he was pressing his own skin with the sharp knife.
"Do it. Kill me. Nobody deserves to kill me more than you do. If I am to die soon, I'd prefer to be you the one holding the blade soaking in my blood. So, don't hesitate, do it – slice my neck." The smell of blood reached your nostrils and you knew that it came out of him. He had been cut by the blade, but it hadn't been deep enough to be fatal.
You pulled the knife away from Ubbe and dropped it on the stony floor. Your hands were working hard in the darkness trying to reach for his wound. You knew that he was bleeding when your hands me the something liquid streaming – his blood.
You hoped desperately that he couldn't see your face. He couldn't see how upset and worried you were for him. You didn't want him to suppose that you cared – you didn't care. You didn't care at all.
And yet you couldn't stop yourself from lighting the candles again and searching for a cloth to treat him. When you found what you were looking for, you went back to bed. You sat next to his lying form and placed the cloth in the bowl of water. Then, you placed the wet cloth on his wound and he didn't react – he didn't even flinch.
His blue eyes were focused on you trying to stop the blood streaming.
"I thought you would want to get rid of me by now." Ubbe finally spoke and you dared to glance at him for a passing moment. You thought to yourself. You thought that it would be better if he was dead. However, you couldn't picture his death. You were afraid that if you even tried, it would happen. It should have been what all you were waiting for, but it wasn't.
"I have told you, Ubbe, I've never wanted you dead." Your eyes were back on the cut on his throat. It wasn't a fatal wound and it wasn't big enough, but still you couldn't let him bleeding. Not even for some minutes. "Not even after everything that we've been through." You confessed in a soft tone of voice. In such way that you didn't want him to know about that last part. But, now, he knew.
"And yet I would kill you if I had the chance." This was a confess and it made you smile. It wasn't like you weren't afraid that he wasn't going to do it, you were sure that earlier he would have killed you if his brothers hadn't stormed in the room.
Ubbe could kill you easily, but this didn't mean that you could do this to him as well. He didn't care whether your son would grow up having a mother or not, as you did. But this didn't make you change your mind when it should have had. If you were to walk away one day, you would do this and he would be alive. Although, if that ever happened, he wouldn't let you go far enough – he would find you anywhere.
"You have the chance now." You reminded him that you were alone and your gaze met his under the slight light of the candles. You left the cloth in the bowl and placed it on the table close to your bed.
"I can't kill you right now." Ubbe said and stood up from your bed to meet you.
"Why not?"
You hated the way your eyes were magnetised on his imposing figure. It reminded you how much more powerless you were comparing to him. You wanted to force your eyes away, but you couldn't bring yourself to.
Ubbe shook his head trying to fight back a smirk which was forming on his face.
"It feels like you are provoking me into killing you sometimes. You are so annoying and careless and stubborn and I can't keep myself."
His footsteps became heavier when he almost reached you. You didn't make any attempt to get away from him – you stayed on your former position, staring at him.
"From killing me?"
A low chuckle – one so dark that got goosebumps – came out of his mouth and he took a step closer to you. Again, you didn't try to escape which seemed a terrible idea.
You knew that you were asking too many questions that could get you in danger. This man was so unpredictable that you weren't sure when he would snap out of nowhere and try to strangle you again – or this time he wouldn't use his hands.
"Among other things." These words came out darker than it probably meant.
It wasn't long before he was in front of you and his hands were reaching for your skin. They rested on your neck, but not like previously. He wasn't wrapping his hands firmly around you – he was touching you. Just touching. Nothing more – only pure touching. And yet, only pure it wasn't. Nothing was pure between Ubbe and yourself.
His touch was intoxicating and you felt like you needed more of it. You needed this touch in every inch of your body. It was forbidden – Ubbe was forbidden. And that was the exact reason you had to stop this. Because if you didn't, it would ruin you again and this time it would be worse than any other.
You took some steps back. He didn't try to reach you again. Ubbe knew himself that this was a big mistake and it shouldn't happen again.
"Margrethe probably needs you." You told him bitterly. You couldn't even pronounce her name without feeling this weird feeling which had the exact taste with poison. "She's close to give birth to your child. You should be there for them both."
Ubbe knew that you were speaking the truth – he should have been with his wife – and yet he was in your chambers standing opposite you, feeling attracted to this room – feeling attracted to you.
"You didn't need me though."
It surprised you to hear him saying that. However, it was another truth that couldn't go by unnoticed or stay hidden between you two. You didn't lie to each other because you didn't care about the opinion the other person would form. At least that was what it was supposed to be like.
Indeed almost each month of your pregnancy you were alone, but you liked it. You didn't want Ubbe around – you hated the idea that he would eventually be around when this child would be born.
"But she does." You managed to mutter. You were trying to bring back those feelings. Those you had for him during your pregnancy – when he had been on another raiding and you hadn't seen him for plenty of months.
When you could actually hate him because you didn't have to see him every single day.
"Once you had told me that your feelings for me weren't hateful when I was away." Ubbe's voice held a different tone. One you confessed coming out of his mouth few times.
Yes, you could recall that conversation. It was the one he told you that he was thinking about you at the battlefield, but it was too late to believe in his words, because you had already found out about the slave girl and her child. It was one of the worst days of your life – how somebody could forget the day their life took the downfall.
Although, that conversation was the last thing you wanted to remember after all this threats and the tears you shed. And yet it was still stuck in your mind like it was yesterday.
"I was trying to give in to the feelings I felt for you. The way I had you in my mind when I was at the battlefield. Don't ask me how those feelings were formed — I have no idea. I was thinking of you, knowing that you were praying for me not to return. Those feelings couldn't be replaced by any fight we had. At the end of the day, all that stayed in my mind was one of your rare smiles and the way you care for our son."
Ubbe had said.
"I have never prayed for you to die on the battlefield. I did quite the opposite in fact and it felt strange in my heart. I hated — I told my self to hate you — I was telling myself all the things I hated in you so I could hate you. I felt strange for you — my heart was beating in a strange way as much as I tried to avoid it, it exists, still."
That was your reply.
Your eyes were fixed on his gaze. Ubbe wasn't paying attention in anything else in the room but you. It felt like nothing else existed except the two of you. If it was under different circumstances, you would feel special and even loved – only if it was even possible to acknowledge how it felt to be loved by someone.
His tone was a soft and kind of regretful one. But it had never lasted long. This time time it wasn't due to him mood swings but due to his brother storming in the room, out of breath. Hvitserk cut him off when it was obvious that he was about to say something – or more accurately – confess something.
When you saw the man standing next to the door, you let a long breath – one you weren't aware that you were holding all this time – to leave.
"Margrethe is in labour!" Hvitserk exclaimed and everything changed inside you. It felt like the reality was coming back and your delightful dream was over. The object of your misery was back there – visible –standing in your way.
Your husband's eyes met yours. Regret – they yelled. But you couldn't understand which was the thing he had regretted for.
For cheating?
For impregnating her?
For marrying her?
For treating you like garbage?
For forcing you to stay in his side?
For the misery he put you into?
Too many reasons and they weren't all of them. There must have been something you couldn't recall. And yet, you didn't care. You couldn't even feel pity for your wasted life anymore. In fact, you couldn't anything – you were empty.
"She's asking for you brother." Hvitserk spoke again this time softer. His eyes were moving from Ubbe to you and the opposite, because no one of you had said a word.
"Yes." Was the only thing Ubbe managed to say and dragged his brother outside of the room. "You should be there too. Make yourself proper and come." Your husband was back. That was the Ubbe you knew. Your tyrant.
You had no tears left to shed. You were just empty as you were putting on your dress.
You were empty when you walked through her chambers and had to confess her labour.
You were empty even when the child was out. Boy – the midwife had announced happily. And she brought it in your hands and you weren't empty anymore. He was crying his guts out – like your own. His brown eyes were big and pure and you lost yourself inside them so mush that you almost didn't noticed. Although when you actually show them, they didn't mean anything – a child was brought in the world and it was the biggest blessing Frigg could give to a woman.
"Give him to me!" Margrethe's voice was the one who heard through the silent room, but you didn't move to place her son on her lap.
"The prince should hold him, my lady." The midwife reasoned her, but she didn't stop yelling for her son.
Even if she wanted, she couldn't hide away the child from Ubbe. Sooner or later, he would see him. You couldn't interfere or even felt pity. Nobody pitied you when you cried. Nobody cared for you feelings.
You placed the boy on her lap. Without sparing a look at her – the young man was all you cared about. Which could possibly be his fate. Why did it have to be this difficult for a baby just born. Why should a child carry its parent's burdens.
Your footsteps were vast as you were exiting that suffocating room.
"Son." You muttered when you met the curious eyes of the people who were supposed to be your family. Your eyes dared to wander only on Ubbe's form. You were supposed to bring him his son on your hands and it would probably have happened this way is things had been different.
Ubbe frowned when he spotted your unclear expression. Even you weren't empty enough to be idle after this. You almost felt sympathy for him, forgetting about all the horrible things you had been through because of his cruelty.
If you were as cruel as Ubbe was on you, you would even say that all this was a payback for all his doing. But you didn't feel like it, not when in the middle of this situation stood a new-born boy. One that would probably be the object to everyone's ire.
Ubbe didn't wait for a second word or asked anything else, he just burst into the room without warning. You didn't dare to move or speak another word. After all, it wasn't about you anymore.

As the day crossed while the ravens squalled in their morning routine, a woman walked out of her cobblestone little cottage and proceeded to her daily routine wearing a strap dress with an undergarment that was fitted to her curves-like shape body as her animal hide tunic wrapped around her shoulder strap as well.
☽☾☽☾
The young assiduous woman came to a halt when the presence of a familiar figure came upon her approach he, with her doe eyes from her white like grey slate hue eyes as her demure state fell upon seeing the great himself, Ragnar. "You were just a little kid, Skuld Draugr", the great Viking king spoke towards her as she stood there with her taciturn nature like always to amaze the Viking Ragnar.
☽☾☽☾
"What has become of who was once the youthful, strong who now become the old and lost Ragnar Lothbrok", as the words fell from her pink perched lips with a voice that was seraphic with a rasp that soothes a person's ears she looked at the old man who she once had an encounter with long ago in her youthful as a child.
☽☾☽☾
"I believed at a time when I first encountered a child in the woods with a basket filled with herbs who still had that taciturn and demure fearless nature told me once that as I grew my legacy there will be a time when my journey comes to an end is when i lack the one wish i desired", Ragnar spoke with his bearded lips while coming close towards skuld as she stood still watching him, listening to the words she once told him when she was a child. "Your death is nearing Ragnar Lothbrok, where you will be greeted by the Valkyries who will take you home as they summon you", She spoke yet again knowing it was time for his offspring to continue a family legacy...
☽☾☽☾
As a flock of ravens flies around squalling as Skuld looks at the ravens her eyes set upon a man with runes embedded in his skin with one eye out of the socket wearing a black linen cloak with raven feathers covered around it appears in her sight speaking "The embodiment of the goddess of fate, and the skilled strength of a Valkyrie with the dark petrified aura of a Draugr... its time to prepare the journey of a great embark of your own for the offspring of Ragnar Lothbrok will need your presence and strength, Skuld Draugr", hearing his voice who was deep-toned and groggy she knew it was time for the one who spoke to her was none other than Odin himself who appeared in her vision, as kept looking coming back to reality seeing where Odin was standing was not there no more and the ravens was no more to be seen, as that was the sign that it was time for her journey to begin...
☽☾☽☾
Skuld Draugr was none like no shieldmaiden or no Viking but yet had the skill of a Valkyrie warrior, her mother was gifted by the gods to give such a daughter with the beauty of skin that color was different from the rest as her white-like grey slate eyes, as Skuld was set out to be Odin's Valkyrie, that in death she will be welcomed upon her fellow Valkyries. But as she grows, she encounters the great king Ragnar who she sees in her visions as a seer seeing what future lies in his paths and that it is she who will give her presence upon his offspring when they grow up into young adults, given shes slight younger than Bjorn but older than Ubbe, Hvitserk, Sigurd, and Ivar...
☽☾☽☾
"You are not like any woman I have encountered with such skills like yours" " The Eldest Son of Ragnar and Queen Aslaug spoke with such compassion in his voice that made Skuld grow a smile with her heart beating not knowing what's become over her. Until the visions leave the woman with her eyes slowly opening having a feeling that this journey is going to be difficult...

Catching Ubbe Ragnarsson’s attention.
↳ Pairing. Ubbe Ragnarsson.
↳ Summary. You catch the prince’s attention in the less-expected moment.
↳ Warnings. None but maybe my poor English (?.
↳ Note. Hello… This is my first writing of Vikings! I’m currently watching it and yeah, I have to write some scenarios that I think about while watching the show to come and read them later cause I get obsessed like that. Hope y’all can enjoy it.
Tumblr media
You catch his attention when his father comes back to Kattegat… When after the little number his father pulled you came running from the crowd and jumped on his father. Now, his surprise not only was that you jumped on THE Ragnar Lothbrok but rather the fact that the king caught you and was laughing with joy.
“You’re back!” You cry in his father’s arms, with him falling on his knees without dropping you.
“Oh, I believe I am, my dear friend,” His father says and Ubbe is left even more confused.
And although he wants to ask who are you and why is his father watching you with such adoration, he can’t because he is still in shock at the fact that his father is back.
The next time he sees you he doesn’t waste time and runs to you, grabbing your hand. You look over your shoulder at him and he raises his eyebrows when you don’t lower your head. If you know who he is you don’t show it.
“Uh, hello, I am—,”
“I know, I know Ubbe,” You nod and look down at his hand with a raised eyebrow, he let go. “You need something?”
“Who are you?”
“Uh?”
“The way you jumped on my father yesterday, you two seem to know each other very well, are you his—,”
“His friend, yes, yes I am his friend,” You interrupt him and he looks you directly in the eye for what feels like a whole minute before deciding that you were saying the truth. “Why do you want to know that?”
“Because it seems like you’re the only person happy that he is back,” He murmurs and you nod. “Tell me.”
You sigh and look around with boredom, he raises an eyebrow for the nth time in the minutes he’s been talking to you.
“I am your prince, you should at least look a little respectful,” He whispers with a smirk and you snort. He actually didn’t mind your attitude.
“I wouldn’t be your father’s friend if I was respectful,” He laughs at that and you grab his hand now, guiding him through the houses till you’re in front of a small one. “Come,”
When you open the door he is left shocked again when he sees his father sitting in a chair in front of a table, peeling an apple.
“You’re back, oh, hello Ubbe,” Ragnar says and looks at you, who just shrugs and raises your eyebrows. He motions his son to sit. “What brings you here?”
“What brings you here, father?” Ubbe asks in confusion. “I stopped this woman because I want to know who she is, for her to jump on you like that yesterday must mean something.”
Ragnar hums and you put a cup on the table in front of Ubbe, you sit on a chair and sigh.
“This, my son, is my dear friend Y/N,” Ragnar smiles at you and Ubbe chokes on the drink.
Of course, he knows who you are. A long time ago it was you, Athelstan, and Ragnar everywhere, you couldn’t see one without the other. From what he could remember, you came up with the whole plan on how to raid Wessex for his father but after what happened in Paris you disappeared. Or that’s what he thought.
“I—I’m sorry, I couldn’t recognize you,” Ubbe lowers his head and you give him a small smile. “You were here all this time, why didn’t you say something or at least told me and my brothers? We would’ve taken care of you.”
“I don’t like the attention,” You shrug and Ragnar snorts. You do hate the attention it brings being known for being so close to him. “If people know how close I am to the king or his sons they would’ve started coming to me asking me to ask you to favor them, so Ragnar asked Aslaug to keep it a secret and she did it very well.”
He stays silent, watching the ale in his cup, shocked again for the nth time in two days. He looks up at you and you are already watching him with a smirk that he can’t quite pinpoint what it means, but he likes it, oh he likes it a lot.
“When your mother needed to take decisions that were for him,” You tilt your head to your friend, who is watching the way his son looks at you with a smirk of his own. “She would come here and ask me to take the decision myself, for she thinks I think just like him.”
“You do.” Ragnar sings.
“I don’t.”
“Oh, yeah, I believe you do.” He chuckles and you roll your eyes with a small smile.
Suddenly, Ragnar stands up and puts a hand on your cheek, you look up at him with the same adoration that Ubbe saw in his father’s eyes the day before.
“I have to see Floki, I’ll leave you with my son,” You nod and he bends down to kiss your forehead, he looks at Ubbe with an enigmatic smirk. “I believe you are in great hands, my friend.”
Just when the door closes Ubbe tilts his head to you with a smirk, his stare slowly going from your face to your body and he mentally curses himself for not seeing you early because what a fucking beauty you are. You let out a chuckle.
“I am your older brother’s age,” You murmur and he bends till his elbows are on top of his thighs, he smiles. “Stop looking at me like you want to jump on me.”
“I don’t care about that, and oh, how bad I want to jump on you right in this very moment,” He whispers and if it wasn’t because you’re very experienced being around men when you were a warrior, his stare would’ve intimidated you.
You take the same position he has, wetting your lips, giving him a little sneak peek of your cleavage and he can’t stop smiling. He hums.
“For you to lay with me, Ubbe son of my old friend Ragnar Lothbrok…” You whisper and he sighs at the seductive tone. “You’ll have to at the very least, show me that you’re a man.”
“Is that a test?” He murmurs, his whole demeanor showing how much trust he has in himself, you lean back without a care.
“Oh, it is.”

Little Secrets
[Ragnarssons Tk-Fic ]
Tumblr media
Summary: It's one of those typical dinner table talks between the Ragnarssons when troublemaker Ivar chooses violence over peace again. So Björn decides to step in and put him in his place. Again.
Ticklish!Ivar ; Lers/Björn, Ubbe, Hvitserk, Sigurd
sfw nsfw
words: 2364
Warning: This is a TickleFic! Noncon tickling & vulgar language (It’s pretty mean, folks) If that's not your thing I suggest you to skip this one.
Tumblr media
"You gotta be kidding!", Ivar chuckled while taking the jug of mead right in front of him.
"Come and think about it, this makes sense.", Ubbe took another bite from his chicken drumstick while making a pensive face.
"Halfdan? I really can't imagine him with another man.", Sigurd shook his head. "The very thought fills me with nausea."
"Calm down! What's wrong with preferring men over women?", Björn looked around one. "He's nothing less of a fierce Norseman."
"Do you want to confess something to us, too?", Ivar stimulated his eldest brother with a sassy grin.
"Funny.", Björn countered, with a drained look on his face. He was so over his youngest brothers attitude.
"I agree with Björn on this one. Halfdan is a great man who had our back quite a few times.", Hvitserk acceded.
"I don't know. Still seems weird to me.", Sigurd shook his head disapprovingly.
"Oh come one Sigurd, don't make a fool out of yourself.", Ivar darted a knowing look towards his older brother who just wanted to continue eating but paused at his words.
"What?", Sigurd looked at his brother with Irritation.
"We all know you like men. No need to hide it.", Ivar grinned and pointed at Sigurds lute that's always right by his side. "I mean you even compose sentimental ballads and I definitely didn't miss that one time you went to the tanners apprentice for him to quickly fix your coat, only for you to get back home with your shirt the wrong way up.
The whole table turned silent for a few seconds, everyone paused in their movements. Sigurd threw an angry look at his younger brother, who was the only one to continue eating as if nothing happened.
"Cut the bullshit! He also fixed my shirt, that's why!", Sigurd banged his fist on the table. Everyone continued eating, trying not to get involved into the two wranglers fight.
"A likely story!", Ivar couldn't stifle an amused laughter. "Just so you know, I got loads of problems with you but being homosexual is none of them. So calm down."
Sigurds head has turned deeply red when he continued eating his soup in a tensed way. "You're crazy."
"I shouldn't have told you about it.", Björn regretted his decision already. "What did I even think would happen?"
"Well it was quite obvious what would happen.", Ubbe laughed, looking at his younger brothers, one eating his soup in silence, the other satisfied with how everything went.
"I hope all of you know this information is just between the five of us.", the eldest instructed with a serious look.
"What exactly? Halfdans homosexuality or the shirt fixing thing that means nothing?", Ivar continued making digs at Sigurd who looked up immediately. It was way too easy to trigger him.
"Shut your mouth!", Sigurd impulsively threw the carving knife towards Ivar, who only just managed to dodge it. The youngest chuckled, as if the sharp weapon didn't get stuck in the wooden armrest, right where his forearm has been seconds before. "Poor Sigurd, are you mad now? Go make up for it by writing an angry poem or- well I guess you know an even better option."
"You clearly don't know when to stop.", Ubbe tried to enter shallow water again. "Sigurd you need to lern how to ignore his teasing."
"Why are you like this, Ivar?", Björn sighed like a failed parent who gave up long ago.
The youngest continued eating in satisfaction with a gleeful smile plastered on his face.
"Oh you think it's funny to torment every living being around you?", Björn leaned forward, looking at Ivar directly. "Probably you need to taste your own medicine in order for you to stop harassing others."
The three brothers scouted the scene when Ivar put his fork aside and returned Björns look bored. "Go on. Your poor treasury of words and repartee isn't able to match mine anyway."
Björn dabbed his mouth with a napkin before he got up and walked towards his brother who slowly began to realise, the eldest had no interest in talking it out.
"All of that is just warm words, little brother. You always forget you're pretty disadvantaged when the time of talking is over.", Björn looked down at Ivar, who didn't seem to be frightened at all.
"Calm down. You know that's just how he is.", Hvitserk tried to comfort Björn, aligning himself with Ivar as usual.
"Yeah don't beat him up just because of a few meaningless words.", Ubbe agreed with Hvitserk, being the arbiter once again.
"I don't mind you teaching him a lesson.", Sigurd leaned backwards, eyeing the scene gleefully. "He totally deserves it."
"Coward.", Ivar hissed at him, before looking up to Björn, who was still glancing down at him. But something in his expression has changed. He seemed to have a plan. Ivar swallowed hard and started considering how he'd make it out alive without eating his words.
"Hit me already! I won't apologise for telling the truth!", Ivar leaned backwards with his guard down, hoping his brothers pride will prevent him from beating up an unarmed cripple.
"You sneaky rascal. You know damn well I'd never be able to hit you, looking like this.", Björn grinned down at him, knowing exactly Ivar acts helpless on purpose.
"That's a low trick Ivar! Just take it like a man!", Sigurd commented, disappointed with how things were going.
"You two! Cut it out!", Ubbe instructed, having enough of that bunfight. "And you, Sigurd! Stop being a chicken-hearted shit and face him yourself!"
Everyones but Ivar's jar fell. Ubbe hardly uses foul language and he also rarely chooses Ivars side.
The youngest started cackling at his words, approving with his second eldest brother for the first time in forever. Hvitserk had to stifle an amused grin as well when Björn turned back towards Ivar: "You're lucky Ubbe decided to come to your relieve. Are you going to behave now?"
Ivar gave a snarky laugh, feeling too secure for his own good again: "Since when is telling the truth a misbehaviour?"
"Ivaaaar.", Björn sighed his name long-drawn-out with a tortured undertone. "Don't do this to yourself."
"Do what?", the youngest asked confusedly. "You gotta face the fact, you can't do shit, brother. And now go back to your seat and let me finish my plate!"
"That was a mistake.", Hvitserk murmured when the youngest continued eating as if nothing happened.
Then, all of a sudden, Ivar was bowled over and fell from his chair to the ground. Before anyone realised what was happening, Björn swooped down on Ivar, who laid flat on his back, gasping under the weight of his gigantic brother.
Right when the youngest opened his mouth to let off steam, a high pitched scream came out of his throat, followed by forced, loud laughter. The remaining brothers needed a moment to understand what was going on: Björn tackled Ivar to the ground and instantly started a rigorous tickle attack!
Everyone of them knows about this big weakness of their little brother. Even though they take advantage of it quite often, the youngest goes bright red with shame whenever he finds himself in this vulnerable position. Somehow it doesn't stop him from being a bratty bully and he also seems to forget about that effective punishment whenever he decides to make fun of one of his brothers.
"Björn have mercy with him!", Hvitserk tried to drown Ivars hysterical laughter out.
"Kill him!", Sigurd encouraged their eldest brother, looking down at the Ivar who was laughing and screaming uncontrollably. Björn dug right into his upper ribs, one of the killer spots. Ivar tried to curse and threaten through his laughter but he didn't manage to form at least one coherent word.
Ubbe, who tried to decide wether this was funny or serious, watched the scene with a little smile playing on his lips. "Easy, Björn! You know he can't handle it well."
"That's the whole point!", Björn grinned in a devilish way while getting his younger brothers hands out of the way by pinning them above his head. "Sigurd come help me with this little rascal!"
There was no need for him to repeat that. Sigurd bounced from his chair and placed himself immediately in front of Björn to keep Ivars strong arms in place. Now Björn had both his hands to tickle the crap out of his stubborn brother, who wasn't able to defend himself the tiniest bit.
Ivar, who had a short break while the positions were changing, was hopping mad at his brothers. He couldn't help but giggle during his threat, due to the previous tickling anyways: "Gehet off! Don't touch me Sigurd! You gutless cohoward! This is nohot fahair!! Björn you piehiece of- wait what- NO!"
Ivar paused his cursing when his oldest brother pulled up his shirt, revealing the youngest toned upper body. Björn started squeezing into Ivars strong obliques, enjoying him freaking out about it: "FUHUCKERS!! AHAHAHA I HAHATEE YOUHUHU! NOHOAHAHAHA!" He tried to press his lips together, to not give them any satisfaction, but after not even a second he bursted out laughing even shriller: "I'LL KIHILL YOUHUHU! FUHUHUCK STOHOP! AHH NAHAHA FUCKING IHIDIOTSAHAHA!"
"Ahaww look at our baby brother, trying to be serious.", Björn mocked, staying at the same spot but increasing the speed and pressure even more, putting his brother through agony.
Ivar turned to Hvitserk and Ubbe who were watching the scene from the table: "DOHON'T JUHUST SIHIT THEHERE! HEHELP MEHE!"
Suddenly, Björn changed positions and started digging into Ivars upper ribs and the wide latissimus. Ivar started screaming and yelling, begging them to stop but whether Björn, nor Sigurd seemed to have enough yet.
"Hey that's enough! He clearly can't take any more.", Hvitserk got up from his chair to succour.
"I decide when he has enough!", Björn clarified, starting to scribble his big hands up and down ivars whole torso, driving him mad.
"Cut it out!", Hvitserk placed his hand on Björns shoulder and pulled him backwards to underline his call.
Björn stopped the torture for a moment and turned towards his little brother who immediately stumbled a few steps back.
"Listen: You better stop bothering me or you're in his place at once, got it?", Björn gave him a warning glance. Hvitserk swallowed hard and looked over to Ivar who was looking back with tears in his eyes.
"Come on, Björn.", Hvitserk tried to negotiate, while recognising the begging glance on his little brothers face. "He clearly learned his lesson.
"Ohh you think so?", Björn grinned. "You suppose he wouldn't humiliate others for entertainment anymore?"
"Well, that's kinda how he is. You won't tickle it out of him anyways.", Hvitserk shrug his shoulders, looking from one to another. "Come on, let him go."
"So you think I don't have to punish him anymore and it's alright he's putting his needs top priority?", Björn asked with a vicious undertone.
Hvitserk knew he was up to something but still he tried his best to get his brother out of that. "If that makes you let go of him, yes.
"Alright. One last test. Let's see if our stubborn rascal learned his lesson.", Björn, still sitting on Ivars waist, leaned over him, their ice-blue eyes facing each other. Ivar was still breathing heavily and sweating, his face and upper body had turned bright red and there were several marks where his brothers fingers dug into the muscles.
Björn started scribbling and spidering his fingers lightly all over his brothers belly and chest, forcing him to make a tortured noise that slowly turned into involuntary giggles. "Tell me Ivar, would you like me to stop?"
"Stuhupihid quehestion frohom a stupid persohon.", his brother answered, as sassy as always. Björn had to get ahold of himself, not to tickle him to pieces again. "Even though you clearly ask for more, I'm willing to let you. There's only one condition."
"Fucking ahahanything!", Ivar pulled on his arms, that were still secured by Sigurd, trying to get away from Björns unbearably ticklish movements.
"So you're fine with Hvitserk taking your place?", Björn asked while mischievously increasing the speed even more, teasing out a yell and even louder giggles that turn into helpless laughter pretty quickly.
Hvitserks jaw dropped when he heard what his brother just said and he quickly increased the space between him and the rest. "W-Wait. Ivar- don't!"
Ivar didn't ponder for a second. He immediately nodded as forcefully as he could. "Yehehes! Fuhuck lehet goo!"
Björn let go of Ivar, stood up and turned towards the intimidated Hvitserk, who slowly but surely stepped backwards, trying to leave the hut without the eldest noticing. A knowing grin playing on his lips: "Poor Hvitserk. That's what you get for turning against me, trying to side with a lone wolf."
"I-I'm sohorry, Hvitty.", Ivar stuttered, still laying on the ground. Then, all of a sudden he seized Björns legs and managed to knock him down. "RUN!"
Hvitserk didn't think about it twice. He turned around and made a quick getaway.
"You devious nag! Let go or I swear I tickle you to death!", Björn threatened, starting to squeeze into Ivars ribs at once. The youngest flinched hard and had no choice but to release him. Björn jumped up and chased after Hvitserk who left the hut a few seconds before.
"Why can't we just eat in peace for once?", Ubbe sighed, picking at his food in frustration. Then he went over to Ivar, who tried to catch his breath and helped him get up and back on his seat.
Sigurd, who had taken his seat already, looked at his younger brother gleefully. "Hopefully you learned your lesson."
Ivar, who felt deeply humiliated already, looked at him with a warning glance: "Careful."
"Look who didn't make it." All heads turned to the open door, where Björn just entered the room with Hvitserk in tow...

Hello there :) please could I request something for Vikings with a female reader if possible. Where the reader (a shieldmaiden) meets the ragnarssons for the first time after being taken in by Ragnar when her parents are killed, and they start developing feelings for her later on? 💙
Hey! Thought that making this into headcanons/preferences would be the best format, message me if you want a full work where I elaborate!🌺
🫀REQUESTS ARE OPEN🫀
Vikings preference: Falling for a shieldmaiden taken in by Ragnar
Tumblr media
Bjorn A little rough around the edges, at first - you're a complete stranger, after all. Maybe he criticizes your posture one day and you're more than willing to make him prove his 'superiority'. Whether you win or lose is not as important as the sole fact that you were a challenge for him, although he might not outright admit that. Despite being a shieldmaiden and Bjorn having witnessed your abilities first-hand, he still perceives you as a woman first - the burden of upbringing, one might say. Because of that, he often tries to fight your battles for you, both on the battlefield and outside of it. Most of the time it's small things: bringing you this, giving you that. He definitely might come off as overbearing at times but there's no malice in his heart - Bjorn genuinely believes he's doing the right thing. The downside is that even your stern words might not knock off his habits (the two of you fought numerous times about his overprotective attitude). That protective side of him comes out especially strong during cold winter months when he needs to be extra sure that you're well-fed and warm. In his hot and cold attitude, you find irrefutable proof of his affection. After all, what else if not love could bring warmth and care out of a man known for his dauntlessness and reserved attitude? Bjorn puts his fondness into words in a very peculiar manner: suggesting your possible gains. In other terms, he hints at all the goods you'd have and the shortages you wouldn't suffer if he could have your hand. See that pile of wood that's going to last you for at least a month? Or the furs on your bed that are just enough to stay warm on a freezing winter night? Without half-truths and subtext, Bjorn assures you that he could provide you so much more. Although 'could' should be read as 'wants to' - a desire he's determined to fulfil only if you agree to be his.
Tumblr media
Ubbe The one who actually talks to you first, with no expectations or prejudice. Even if he did have those, he's capable of looking past them and making a fair judgement only after getting to know you. At first he's a little uncomfortable with the situation and your person because you're kind of like a sister but not really? That apprehension doesn't last long, however: he's a little too smitten with you. To his own surprise, your presence makes the long absence of his father a little easier to bear - Ragnar didn't leave on a whim, he had a reason to do so and it was a good reason. If the other Ragnarsons treat you with malice, thinking of you as the sole reason they had to grow up fatherless, Ubbe is always ready to step in and de-escalate the situation. In some way, he's similar to Bjorn in expressing his affection in the sense of being protective. Ubbe perceives you as a woman, a woman he loves to be exact, and only then a warrior, despite getting a taste of your skills on his own. Just like his half-brother, he'd try to do things for you, deal with the mundane burdens of everyday life; he only cares about you. The thing that sets them apart is Ubbe's willingness to stand back - once he knows you can stand your ground, he lets go a little, although reluctantly. Another thing is that he already acts like your husband despite being yet to earn that title: always being in your vicinity, fighting any men who try to woo you, thinking ahead and gifting you anything you might need in the near future. Whenever his training alongside his brothers, Ubbe tends to tease them saying that you're better than them. Whether that is true or just brotherly spitefulness is yet to be determined. When the moment comes and Ubbe confesses his affections, he's very straight-forward, telling you how much you mean to him.
Tumblr media
Hvitserk Curious and fascinated - you're pretty and courageous. Even if you end up rejecting him (a possibility he doesn't think is realistic), you seem like a great person to be around. He's friendly from day one. Keeps hinting at his romantic interest in you through smooth, sublime and yet unambiguous remarks, so there is no doubt about his intentions. In an attempt to spend more time with you, Hvitserk offered to join you in training. Clashing swords and breadth-of-hair ducks were not enough to stop his flirting (you had this growing suspicion that he's also unnecessarily touchy - not that you were one to complain). The only difference from his daily sweet talk was that with a sword in his hand, Hvitserk's words became vividly more explicit. Some of them caught you off guard but once the surprise washed away, you realized you had nothing against those generous offers becoming true. Even if his brothers are also interested in you, he doesn't see them as a competition or a threat of any sort. His approach wouldn't be a surprise to anyone who had even once seen you two together - there was no chance any other Ragnarson could sweep you off your feet. Truth be told, you knew Hvitserk's feelings before he told you, although it should be clarified that he didn't explicitly confess his affections: during a quite intimate moment, in bed and under furs, he suddenly asked you to marry him. Relationship-wise, out of all the Ragnarsons Hvitserk is the one to treat you the most equally to him.

Sigurd Begins to be interested in you simply because his brothers were. Then he noticed your ambivalence towards Ivar and how much it was pissing the youngest brother off and Sigurd was instantly on board - he might yet find an ally in you. Out of the Ragnarssons, he is the most invisible brother and so he didn't quite expect to pique your interest. To his surprise, you're the one to accost him, asking about living in Kattegat and the family reputation he has to hold up. Not to mention all the prince's responsibilities he has to suffer. From your own words, Sigurd learned that, just like him, you're not one for big crowds and front rows, preferring to stray from the eye of the storm that so often seemed to emerge around Ragnar and his sons. He finally found someone who understood his perspective and not only that - they shared it. The two of you are often disappearing somewhere together and the general population of Kattegat quite quickly catches on but you and Sigurd care little about those rumours. Definitely spent hours upon hours coming up with a wax poetic ballad about you. He put himself in one of the verses describing his growing fondness for you. Luckily for him, he won't have to change the verse about the shieldmaiden loving some guy named Sigurd back.

Ivar Acts like he doesn't care and tries to make himself believe that mainly because deep inside he had immediately dismissed the possibility of you being interested in him. You've heard stories of course but a certain degree of scepticism is a trait of a good warrior - it keeps you level-headed. Once when you were sitting on the pier, enjoying a moment of solitude, Ivar approached you only to ask about his father. After all, you'd spent more time with Ragnar than he did, even if he wasn't your actual parent. While sharing stories about the famous Ragnar Lothbrok, Ivar noticed that you're neither apprehensive nor fearful of him. In a way, it upsets him - he found himself in a situation where he doesn't have the upper hand. But this surprising and wholly unwelcome vulnerability didn't backfire. Truthfully, the longer you talked about the legend of Ragnar Lothbrok, the more Ivar wished you would stop talking about his father and simply talk about yourself. Except for his parents, you were the only person whose presence he didn't completely detest and Ivar was yet to make an opinion on how that made him feel. He definitely hates seeing you interact with his brothers as he naively thought that he was the only recipient of your sympathies and it's exactly that lack of exclusivity that makes him go out on a limb and make less-than-ambiguous remarks that you happily reciprocate. Sometimes, when he can't sleep at night, Ivar climbs onto his father's throne and dwells on various fantasies of glory and bloodshed. In those dreams, there's always a place for you - a brave and beautiful shieldmaiden that rides into battle by his side and gives birth to his children, who go on to become kings, emperors and conquerors.
