some silly voltron thoughts;

shiro is actually very goofy and fun around his partner (originally this was gonna be about adam but it could also apply to curtis)

around the team, he's their leader and a parental figure. he provides them with guidance and instruction, and he's a mentor. he's the black lion's paladin, but with his partner, he's shiro and that's so special to me guys

like imagine he's baking with his partner, he's wearing some branded apron he was gifted by the garrison as part of a consolation package, and they both have flour in their hair and on their noses.

whatever they were making ends up burnt but they laugh about it and order postmates instead, turning on a stupid horror movie and eating storebought cookies until they fall asleep on the couch.

it's one of the few domestic moments that shiro *really* gets to experience as a pilot, but more importantly it makes him remember he's in his fucking 20's. it gives him a chance to actually feel like it.

when he's around someone he loves (especially if it's romantic), he lets himself feel like he doesn't know what he's doing. and that feels so, so good. for once, he doesn't have to pretend all of his shit is together, and he can relax and act his age.

Fucking side plot that gets flashbacked to throughout the shows run (instead of just like season 7) where its revealed that Adam finally recognised who Pidge was and before she got away to the roof, he let her know he was gonna contact her mother so she knew where her kid was and in the process of this ends up informing Iverson but before they can do anything, Shiro crash lands and the pilot episode takes place and the garrison trio go missing and we watch on Earth as Adam, Veronica, Colleen and the MFE pilots work to try and discover all that Keith and Pidge discovered before the first episode and to find out what happened to them and maybe try to get them back.

I want the stakes on earth to exist throughout, an ecosystem of the Garrison to exist that the trio are aware of and interact with before they leave, so we get a better idea of the people left back on Earth and what they're doing. I wanna know their families like they do. It doesn't have to be that I get a full on list for them all but like I just want there to be this existing world they come from cause as much as I actually can't fault the first episode on a huge amount, this is one of those things cause if I was rewriting it to have the lions discovered throughout season 1, I'd need that time for something and it's something the show lacks anyway

I will die on the hill that they did Adam so dirty.

Voltron really had a problem with creating characters and storylines and worldbuilding that had potential, but never fulfilling that potential. Adam, for example, could have been a compelling character - even if it was just in how he impacted other characters through his death. But no, instead he gets less than 5 minutes of screentime and the only time other characters really acknowledge him is one short scene of Shiro grieving, grief which is never addressed again.

Anyways. I can go on and on but I'll spare you all that essay. Adam was still pretty fun to draw!

seeing both of adam and matt in rewrite fics and how their characters are fleshed out is always a treat!!

I wanted blue quintessence to be visualized more like water which is why it's so warped along with Renee's but also green to be more like vines but idk how to draw that tbh lol maybe I'll mess around with it later

Hope I didn't make Adam's seem to yellow I really wanted a fire effect since his is mostly red(not me spending so much time googling how to draw Matt's stupid armor only for it to be completely covered up by the quintessence effects THE STRUGGLE IS REAL)

based on the quintessence hc posts I love that he mirrors keith a lot with the not wanting to be a leader and having no black quintessence!!!!

Been a moment since I've drawn Galra Pidge. And with some ideas for the next part that I'm still working out for the fic, this outfit should look familiar. Keith wore it for his BoM trials. Anyway. Let's just say things aren't the easiest and Pidge learned plenty from Earth. And you can bet that Colleen taught her that, whether it's intentional or not. At least Adam's amused.

Hello beautiful tumblr people! Finished page 6 of Danger Zone: Space Husbands edition!

I have this hc that Shiro is this hulking marshmallow and Adam is the sarcastic, and loving, voice of reason in both their personal and professional lives. I think my fav thing about Shiro is how he can see the best of someone even when they can't. He just looks at Keith and Lance, and sees how great they are together, even tho they don't. That's not to say that he goes about getting them to reach their potential in the optimal way lol.

Adam is Jester, and if you watched the movie, I think it's pretty clear that Viper and Jester are husbands. I'll fight you on that. Also, Jester is an amazing pilot, just like Adam.

For the bottom panel, I've been wanting to draw in that "angry" manga style ever since I saw it on the show, and I've just been waiting for the right moment. I really wanted to capture that s1 rivalry energy where they'd rather ram themselves bodily into a planet playing chicken than lose to the other lol. It took some trial and error to figure out how to get the style right. I drew them both with clean lines first, then went about dirtying it up. It's not perfect, but I really liked the effect and I'm def gonna do it again when the right scene presents itself :)

What if Shiro is a wanderer.

What if sometimes he goes for walks at night and gets lost in the stars. What if that inspired him to go to space.

What if after joining the Garrison, he'd still take these nightly walks. What if Adam wakes up in the middle of the night and freaks out because his roommate just disappeared.

What if he tries to go to a teacher but right before he does, he sees Takashi with his eyes lost in the stars, the moon lighting up his face as he walks back to the bunks. He stares. Shiro sees him. He looks away. He was worried.

Fast forward.

They take in Keith. He has the same amazed look when he looks at the stars. They're his family now. He flies really well. He's going to explore the stars too.

The first time Keith wakes up to see Shiro lost, he panics. What if he left too. Adam reassures him that it's normal. Shiro gets lost regularly, no big deal. He always comes back.

Diagnosis. Shiro leaves as soon as he can. He's lost for a day. He's found at the Garrison.

Fighting. Both of them storm out. Keith's left alone. Adam comes back first. Shiro starts his walk earlier today.

The Break Up. Shiro gets lost. He doesn't come back. He lives at the Garrison now.

Kerberos. Shiro gets lost in the stars. Just like he always has. Just like he always wanted.

But this time, he's lost forever, with no coming back.
