My entry for the Rolan fan art contest on Twitter. A while back I started drawing Rolan thriving after the end of BG3's story. I decided to submit it to the contest because of the "survival" theme so here it is! I was indecisive about whether it should be cropped or bordered so here's both! Digitally painted in Krita using a Wacom Intuos Pro.

hiii!!! <33
i'm raphael/n0b0dii, and i'm an artist here on tumblr!!
i draw a LOT of things (mainly mandela catalogue & mystifying oracle stuff), i'm still a beginner artist here, so there's always room for improvement. also, please DO NOT reupload my art to pinterest or anywhere, and don't be a douche to me or my followers too, because i'll just block you if i find out.
the softwares i use is CLIP STUDIO PAINT PRO for the art and sometimes i use other software for editing and stuff, and i use a wacom intuos s as my drawing tablet.
anyways, here's some of my art pieces. (and i apologize if i don't post here often, i'm more active on instagram and twitter.)

Update: 7/9/2023 (I will update the listings if they are added to the stores.)
Drawing Tablet Buyer's Guide 2023
Are you looking for help to get into digital art? Are you confused for what models would you pick? Do you want success in your art career? Then this blog is for you. These are the buyer's guide for artists who wanted to take approach on digital art. As always, you don't need a latest and greatest tools just to make good art. Your handy mouse and a trusty old tablet can do fine art at the time. My Intuos 4 L still works today, even if it was released on 2009.
Here are the basic categories you'll fit into: Beginner, Intermediate and Professional.
Beginner - This is where you start making digital art for the first time.
Intermediate - These are experienced artists who are on mid-range level at a greater value.
Professional - These are same as intermediate but who are on to take approach an high-end level to mimic the meaning art.
There are three types of pen tablets for you to decide. These have pros and cons on these tablets.
Pen Tablet - A pen tablet doesn't require a screen and can benefit for a user experience such as good posture, portability and pricing, but this requires hand-eye coordination as this type of tablet has a steep learning curve and drawing on it feels unnatural to use.
Pen Display - A pen display is a monitor that can be drawn into. It is easier to learn how to use pen displays and can mimic a sketchbook you were drawing. However, there are issues such as bad posture, expensive pricing and limited portability. Sometimes, your hand gets in the way through pinpoint cursor while drawing.
Pen Computer - These are pen tablets that can be used by themselves and don't require a computer, it can be portable for travel use. However, they are very expensive, limited to none upgradability, difficult and costly repairs and have a short battery life. As such, I do not recommend getting these pen computers for these reasons above and instead look for other mobile tablet alternatives such as iPad Pro, Surface Pro 8 or Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Here are the list of drawing tablet recommendations based on three categories.
NOTE: Prices may vary due to sale discounts so I only put links to the official store from drawing tablet brands so I'm gonna keep the original price for future references. However, Amazon is safer for returns and good units and eBay is the way to go for second hand offers.
If you're an osu! player looking for a pen tablet, I'd suggest getting an Intuos Pen and Touch Small 2013 (PTH-480) on eBay. One by Wacom Small (CTL-472) has the same performance yet cheaper. The only good alternative that doesn't suck is Gaomon S620. I recommend getting OpenTabletDriver for that purpose.
If you want to invest digital art, I highly recommend getting a medium size tablet for larger hand gestures.

drawing tablet recommendations?
I'll take literally anything
errr i'm only familiar with wacom and the pilot are the easiest to use and are more compatible with stuff
the one i have right now is the intuos S, its extremely small LOL (size of a hand) but it does the job and it's very easy to transport and super cheap (~50€ second hand, 70€ on site)
one of my friend has the pro version but except having more buttons and being more expensive i dont know what it really does,,,,
of course the best of the best for me is the wacom cintiq 22 inch, zero lag, awesome colors, and big screen but VERY expensive (1400€) and you can't really move it
if you're not into wacom, i heard good things about huion but i never had one so i can't tell from experience
i'll say go with a wacom intuos M so you have more space to draw and you should be good for a few years !

SCREEN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My old Wacom Intuos S that I've been using for like 4-5 years was getting swollen because of it's battery and since not only that makes it harder for me to draw but it's also kind of a hazard I decided to buy a new one, one with a screen
I ended up getting a XP-PEN Artist 13.3 Pro and it seems very promising, gonna doodle around a lot first so I get comfortable the new setup, get some muscle memory for my new shortcuts and just overall get used to the change
Here's a bunch of sketches grouped up that I'm not gonna bother tagging!

Hi! Thank you for your compliments, I really appreciate it!
I use Clip Studio Paint Pro, and a Wacom Intuos S drawing tablet! I don't use procreate so I can't help you with that, sorry. But thank you again!

So, my tablet broke right as I went ahead and got Rebelle 5 pro (because the fates love to align like that). Do you have any tablet recommendations, since mine was like a 2013 oldie?
Oh!! I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm not sure I have any better advice... I've got a Wacom Intuos (size M) from 2018 or thereabouts, which has served me loyally for all my endeavors these years, and has yet to fail me! (You can see the mark from my osu! days though. The center of the tablet is finely polished from countless spinners.)
I've bought replacement nibs a few months ago, but even after I wear down the one I'm using now I still have another one inside the pen. I guess I don't really draw as much as I think...
At the time, Wacom was the only brand I knew, and although I feel like people have said plenty of disparaging things about the brand, I don't think it's as overrated as people say...? Like people talk about their wires having connection issues, but I guess maybe I'm diligent about tucking them away nicely they've managed to last this long.
When I got it, it came with 3 softwares: Clip Studio Paint, Corel Painter, and something else that I forgot LOL. Anyways I'm married to CSP now!!
Long story short I have no clue what the new market developments are... I like my intuos and if I ever need to get another tablet I'm probably going to get something similar if I haven't settled down permanently, but if I have I think I might go for a CINTIQ or another tablet that I can draw directly on the screen of.
The Wacom Bamboo and Intuos (S) are a bit small for my liking in terms of drawing area, but I'm sure it makes them a bit cheaper. I don't know what your budget's looking like! Happy tablet hunting!!

Ah yes now that my Inquisitor Valentines are out I can tell you what a STRUGGLE they were to finish, mostly because my tablet, which is of course infamously wonky, was in its last dying throes.
Like I've had it since ~2017, and used it consistently for about 3 of those 6 years, so I feel pretty strongly it shouldn't be in this bad of shape. It started with some strange quirk of the USB C connection, where every time you turned the tablet back on or woke it up from sleep, you'd have to change which port it was connected to in the computer otherwise it would read "no signal". Okay, weird, but I could live with that, even if I had to try like 6 combinations of ports between the tablet and laptop to find one that worked each time.
It would sometimes register phantom touches that weren't there and randomly hit a different tool or window or leave a stray dot on my work and I'd have to go back and fix it. Again, quirky, but liveable.
Then lately it's been just abruptly not registering pen touches in the middle of a drawing, and no amount of unplugging, re-starting, etc., would get it to register again. Even though the cursor would move when you hovered the pen over it, Wacom's software couldn't detect that a tablet was connected to the computer. The only fix was to completely uninstall and reinstall the driver. Every time. Which was annoying, but I lived with it when it affected me every 3-4 drawing sessions.
By the time I got to my lineart/coloring of Trilla on Sunday, this problem was occuring once every 5-30 minutes. I had a 2.5 hour drawing session where I had to reinstall my driver TWELVE times. I couldn't even finish putting flat colors on her face before it would crap out again! Luckily for Inky it only happened twice during the session, but by then I had HAD ENOUGH.
Again, I reiterate that I bought my Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 ~6 years ago. It was an incredibly expensive tablet then. They don't even make them anymore, now the smallest Cintiq Pro available is a 16". And since I JUST had to buy a new car after my last one broke down, I definitely did not have $650 to spend on a tablet. Besides, my faith in Wacom is shaken now. Even though my first tablet ever was a Wacom Bamboo back in the early 2010's, and I've also had an Intuos. This was one failure too far.
So my lovely husband has ordered for me a Huion Kamvas 13. The technical specifications look really good, and the price was even better. Really excited about the display and color range, since that was my biggest complaint with my Cintiq. Anything in the range of yellow/pink/orange/brown had a really green tone to it on my display, and it made it difficult to percieve the colors well, especially when trying to make realistic skin tones. I am looking forward to trying it out!
Hopefully this means faster, better artwork for you! And less frustration for me! So cheers, this has been an impromptu tablet review brought to you by inquisitorius-sin-bin.

still dont wanna betray my ol g tablet, but definitely considering an uptade one day
of course went into analysing too many reviews, so few nerd details are under the cut, in case if its somehow useful
my ol tablet is wacom bamboo fun cth-461, got it in 2011 and ... it works fine ever since, wont complain (except just one single flaw: at least two times per year drivers suddenly nope out and die. well this what happened back on windows 7, nowadays on windows 10; for like two years it never happened yet. other users say its a common issue for wacom tablets so oh welp x'))
a replacement with properties v alike: wacom intuos basic pen s ... probably the whole intuos series thing (?). statistics say they are cooler, i say my tablet would eat them all for breakfast-- i mean i don't think they would ever manage to live for as long as my ol pal. and you know i prefer nokia-like immortality in devices, even as i am a gentle type of user
other interestiing choices: - xp pen star 06. actually eyeing it?? it's a bit bigger, can do a wireless trick (whytho) and got all the buttons, and it's super alike (copy cat alike) wacom intuos pro, except it's cheaper ($420 vs $71 in classic ru stores- to think of, wacom stuff is nearly as ridiculously overpriced as apple shit. are they going to ban their stuff in my country? i bet they gonna) - xp pen artist 12 2nd gen (it's like second monitor type, which could be bad for the spine, but so far it seems a fine choice for wannabe animations / video editing and its price is not too expensive unlike others'- which could change any moment bcs man ruble falls faar down and craws up and falls again (and they cover it up by 'usd jumps usd fails, america this america that uwu' excuse) so idk yet)
