Grizz from "We Bare Bears" is giving me strong aroace vibes, pt. 1.

I'll be discussing this in parts (not sure how many yet) mainly basing on the episodes "Video Date" and "I am Ice Bear" for this.

"Video Date" gave us tons of hints regarding Grizz's point of view about romantic relationships (despite Panda being the character central focus here).

This is how Grizz approaches Panda's date Cecile when he temporarily impersonates as him.

Note that the highlighted dialogues in brown hue are Grizz's lines.

(And by thingies, Grizz meant emojis, which Ice Bear did the deed instead.)

He approaches in such a casual, confident manner, much like how you approach someone you're interested to be friends with. He even honestly comments to himself about how cool she is.

When Panda is still nervous to talk to Cecile on his own, Grizz tries to be as helpful as he can be by coaching Panda. What took my attention on this scene are the advices he said to his bro.

No romantic subtext, and no sexual subtext either! It's all about being cool and trying to impress her, while also being genuine and fun!

Now here comes my favorite part!

When Panda is still nervous talking to Cecile, Ice Bear and Grizz impersonate Panda by looking like him; interacting with her one by one. Eventually, they all started to fall in love with her.

First, this is Panda's imagination of his love for her.

Then this is Ice Bear's.

And finally...there's...Grizz.

I love the sheer contrast! Grizz's idea of love for her is clearly NOT the traditional idea of romance. (Heck, he doesn't even remember Paris, and just imagined them participating a rock concert instead!) And look at his face! His face shows more like the feeling of being understood and accepted THAN BEING IN LOVE.

Even his dialogues show it!

That's his reason why he has 'fallen in love' with her. Not because she looks pretty, nor she looks sexually alluring, but because of her personality; their similarities on their interests and status. It really screams, "I want to be her friend so bad I want to hang out with her!" His idea of love for her could be under alterous attraction, which means wanting a deep emotional closeness with someone, or platonic attraction also (since Grizz doesn't really have much friends in his life).
