A little sample of this weekend's products from a Saturday afternoon walk in Clevedon. I'm generally not a huge fan of winter photography, but I've recently found a new style that works really well for this time of year, going for a more gritty, grimy, urban atmosphere. It's a style that works well with the stark contrast of taking photos into the low afternoon sun in crisp air, often benefiting from the dramatic cloud patterns we see quite a lot in winter around Bristol.

Limoncello. Italian hot lemonade. What can there be said for it over the imminent winter season of colds, flu, grippe and viruses within Hanna-Barbera's Funtastic World than the sheer comfort of simple ReaLemon juice and a little sugar or honey stirred in, hot water combining to make the whole palatable and at once comforting?

Especially when it just seems that the world outside must be looking so drizzly or snowy, just basically a dreary look by the sight of it, with maybe some easy-listening schtick on the radio to further add some comfort....

post lunch, sitting in your verandah during a sunny winter afternoon. the rays fall on your feet, warming them as the rest of your body is reclined on a wooden chair that’s been a part of your family for generations. you wrap a light shawl around your shoulders while sipping on some hot elaichi chai with broken ginger pieces and slivers of kesar floating in it. you’re reading a book about a Hindu deity, describing her wit, wisdom, valour and beauty, something many people miss when talking about them usually. a ghazal flows through the passage of the door that’s left wide open behind you. his voice & words are lulling you into a serenity that makes the letters in front of you swirl until your eyelids grow heavy. slowly, you descend into a brief slumber without any dreams.
