What is something that fills you with rage for no apparent reason?
A lot of things, but one of them right now is when people post a "drabble" that's a few hundred words. By definition, "a drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space."
That's it. 100 words. No more. No less.
I write drabbles. I work hard at choosing exactly what hundred words to use. Those words are sacred; I ration them. I probably have to cut out just as many sentences as I write because I want the words I choose to be perfect. It is a challenge and an art form distinctly different from most prose. I work hard at what I do, but, if I recall correctly, I've had numerous occasions where people have mourned how short my drabbles were or expected them to be longer, because they're used to the incorrect definition of drabble that fandom keeps pushing. My work is seen as incomplete when I'm the only one doing it correctly because no one else understands the assignment.
(and for those of you who think you write drabbles and are just now realizing you don't know what "drabble" means, the word you're looking for is either ficlet or microfic. Thank you.)

Paranormal Vibes
Okay, I said I'd get around to talking more about this so here I am! An explanation of what I mean and some examples. I might even make this an ongoing thing with settings that interest me.
---------------------------------------
Similar Genres:
Supernatural Horror - freaky, scary, unnatural
Liminal Space - spooky, unnatural, eerie
Cryptidcore - weird, unnatural
Modern Gothic - eerie, unnatural, psychological
Mundane Horror - eerie, uncanny, psychological
---------------------------------------
Personal Definition:
Okay, so right now it's pretty vague - let's get a little more detailed shall we?
A setting where the line between the supernatural and the mundane is blurry, not in the sense that the supernatural is known about, but that it's hard to definitively pin down. Freaky, probably paranormal stuff is going down - but there's also probably a normal explanation for it.
Wild animal, faulty electrics, fever dream, they got disoriented, eyes playing tricks, you name it. Whatever the occurrence there's some kind of explanation. Who's right doesn't matter, all that matters is that for as freaky as the unnatural elements are - neither the audience nor the characters can be certain of their authenticity or origin.
TV tropes likes to refer to this kind of situation as "maybe magic, maybe mundane"
---------------------------------------
Core Elements:
Horror, Mystery, Ambiguity, Eerieness, The paranormal, Psychological

I Would Be Gothic:
If people were books
With a genre
For a personality
I would be
A gothic horror
A tragedy
As psychological
As it is dark
And twisted
I'm the monster
That Frankenstein couldn't love
I'm the body
Buried in Montresor's cellar
I'm the atrocity
That is Hill House
If you bound me in leather
It would have to be black
Twisted and rotten
Like the words
That live half lives
On damp pages
Bereft of mirth or glee

They say you die three times, first when the body dies, second, when your body enters the grave, and third, when your name is spoken for the last time. You were a normal person in life, but hundreds of years later, you still haven't had your "third" death. You decide to find out why.

the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.

it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

This is a friendly reminder to never, ever publish your book with a publishing company that charges you to publish with them. That is a vanity press, which makes money by preying on authors. They charge you for editing, formatting, cover art, and more. With most of these companies, you will never seen a cent of any royalties made from sale of your book. A legitimate publishing company only makes money when you make money, they will never charge you to publish with them. If a company approaches you and says "Hey, we'll publish your book, just pay us X amount of money," tell them to go fuck themself and block them.

You recently moved to the countryside. Your child was playing in the woods, and came back with a large green egg you thought was plastic, so you agreed they could keep it if no one claimed it. Your kid said it was a gift. You thought nothing of it. Then the egg hatched.
