I followed you a while back for taz fanfic, but I have to say I am absolutely Adoring your original fiction, and I really look forward to seeing more! Can I ask if Not What It Seems had an average name for their culture? If so, could you describe how they choose names, it seems neat! Hope you have a good day!

So yeah, Not What It Seems is a standard name for Voices, yeah. Voice are an alien species that are... weird. They can almost instantly learn any language once they come into contact with it, they have no overarching society and in this incredibly advanced, space faring, galaxy spanning universe with another species that is legit just 'Mad Scientists' the most concrete theory anyone has on where Voices come from is 'spontaneous generation.' like mice in hay piles.

Voices choose their own names, which is always a short phrase that they feel encapsulates their identity. Since Voices almost never interact with other Voices and are not raised in any collective society, no one really knows why they all always name themselves like this, but they do.

Because it ties to their core sense of identity, if some major, life or self shattering event happens to a Voice, they will change their name, and often consider their past self with a different name a somewhat separate individual.

Most people assume Not What It Seems is named that solely because they're a shapeshifter, but it definitely goes deeper than that. They want people to know it goes deeper than that, in a way. If they're smart enough to realize.

So like, another Voice name example would be That Seems To Be A Poor Decision (Seems is pretty common in Voice names) or just Poor Decision, who was made by @technicalchaotic. They are important, to put it lightly, but basically they were an experiment that went wrong, and 'that seems to be a poor decision' was the last thing their shitty dad old owner has said before they killed him.

i agree with Akane at least having crazy hard spice tolerance! I think she says herself she can eat almost anything. Gundham too, though I think it's more willpower than physical tolerance.

Anxiety anxiety anxiety… what can you do

Because these pages were kinda challenging both writing and layout-wise, I'd written an excerpt to hopefully explain a bit more as i don't think i expressed it too well through dialogue??

“Cogsworth still fears something bad will happen again. The psychological toll of living 10 years under the curse doesn’t just disappear overnight after all. He feels guilty that he isn’t as quickly well adjusted to normality as everyone else has, and at the same time doesn’t understand how everyone can easily forget about what just happened. This random incident of Lumière falling ill had completely frightened him- even though he didn’t catch anything serious. Although he knows in a practical sense that this is unlikely, Cogsworth still fears in his heart a repeat of the curse, or something akin, to creep up on the castle once again. During this fragile period where he is still processing things at his own pace, Lumière’s sudden collapse had caused him to spiral, with his anxieties confirming his greatest fears for just a moment; targeting his best friend as punishment. Cogsworth wishes he could stop worrying and instead celebrate this new, refreshing era with his friends, but that doesn’t come easy when you’re wired to hold a deep protectiveness to the castle and everyone in it… and a learned sense of security to the person who’s been closest by your side through it all.

Lumière is the one that’s hurt, why is he so calm about this? He’s treating it as if it's nothing. Why doesn't he care about how the others feel about his situation? Why am I reacting so much? I wish he could just get out of his own head. So selfish…”

How was your journey to start shipping jesslake? How did you find out about infinity train?

I'd seen it around on tumblr and while me and my roommates were looking for new shows to watch the season 4 trailer had just dropped, so we decided to binge it before the new season came out. I didn't actually know much about the show at all before watching it

their dynamic just immediately spoke to me, and i related a hell of a lot to both of em. i love them as platonic or romantic or somewhere in between, (or both, mostly both) and yeah, started writing fic once an idea came to me and I couldn't ignore it anymore.

basically they combine a lot of my absolute favorite character tropes, dynamics, and themes and so immediately moved into my brain rent free

Listen I just saw your post about the good place and inspiration struck. What would a TAZ and the good place crossover look like? Where there was a good place au with the crew in balance?

okay a good place AU for balance would actually work really well thinking about it? Just like, with the cycles and the resets and memory erasing and all of that.

I feel like there would not be many direct parallels for characters, mostly because the character dynamics in the good place are so perfectly set up to reflect those characters, and those characters alone, and you can't just plop the TAZ crew in there (mainly because there are so many characters in taz and the relationships are very different) but you can still get some general Placements.

Like, the IPRE (minus Lucretia) is the humans set to be tortured, Lucretia is in the Janet position, and let's put John as Micheal because that seems like fun. Taako is definitely the one who keeps on realizing that This Is The Bad Place and I just had the idea that it would be hilarious if the reason Davenport doesn't talk is because he's set up to be the Silent Monk, when actually he is a crazed daredevil pilot.

I have nothing else for this other than Lup and Barry's dynamic is probably the closest you could get to Eleanor and Chidi's and so please imagine Barry Bluejeans giving a lecture to a horrified Lup about how wearing his jeans to bed is the only viable ethical choice
