I like Jody but she's only a few years older than Dean (she was born in 1976, he was born in 1979), therefore more likely to be a love interest than a mom for them. It's very odd how the women who are of a similar age to the guys in the show end up with this weird 'mom' framing.
Hi! I completely understand where you are coming from with this but I will have to agree to disagree. I don’t see Jody’s relationship with the brothers as odd. Yes, they are around the same age but have different life experiences. For example, Sam and Dean were never raised to be thriving adults in society. They barely managed to go to school. Their parents wasn’t around for almost their entire lives. It was just Sam and Dean against the world, facing trauma and pain the entire time. They needed people to fall back on. They needed a semblance of normality and love. Jody provided that by playing the “mother” role. Charlie provided that by playing the “sister” role. Bobby provided that by playing the “father” role. They created the family that they never had unintentionally. And I believe it’s because their own family never cared about them. John didn’t care. Mary didn’t care. Samuel didn’t care. If their blood relatives had to go through the same torture that Sam and Dean went through to save Sam and Dean, they wouldn’t do it. Samuel sold his own grandsons to Crowley. Now I will give John the benefit of the doubt, he did step up. When Dean was dying, he sold his soul to Yellow Eyes. When Azazel was going to kill Dean, he fought his way out of hell to distract Azazel long enough for Dean to kill him. I believe John cared but had a sorry way of expression it and he apologized too little, too late. But that’s just my opinion! No hard feelings either way. I enjoy talking about SPN and passing opinions back and forth. I enjoy showing my point of view and hearing other peoples point of views. It’s entertaining and interesting and brings us all together, I believe! So if you have any other questions or statements or just want to voice an opinion then feel free! That applies to everyone reading this too. Let’s talk! Just be respectful and friendly even if someone doesn’t agree with your opinion.

I am currently on a rewatch of the supernatural trilogy seasons (aka 1-3) and it made me wonder...
The fact that Marry made a deal with Azazel that was up for the claim in the pilot is an introduction of 4x03 'In the Beginning', aka it is an introduction of the, "the writer's strike almost killed us and we had to rethink the whole getting Dean out of hell thing, and introduce angels"-thing.
I wonder, if there had never been angels was it still a deal that allowed Azazel entry into the homes. Or did he just pick children he somehow knew were 'strong in the force'??
Or did the other women also enter a deal that would allow YE entrance into their six month old's nurseries?
Because Monica Holt in 1x21 takes what happens oddly easy. But then again they just saved her and her husband and infant daughter from an intruder and fire. But then AGAIN she was dragged up the fucking wall, she saw Azazel's yellow eyes... she saw the supernatural shit going down.

Supernatural season 2 episode 1.
In my time of dying.
So we ended up in the season 1 finale with the car crash.
The Winchesters end up in hospital with Dean in a coma, about to die.
Now this episode may not be the most exciting but it sets up the whole season about Sam with his special powers.
While Dean has a reaper luring his soul to beyond, both Sam and John look for ways to bring back Dean from the edge of death.
Sam communicates with Dean....
John makes a deal with the yellow eyed demon.
As Dean comes out of the coma, totally healed, John whispers a secret that echoes through the season.

Season 1, Episode 22: Devil’s Trap
Sam and Dean seek help from Bobby Singer, an old family friend in their mission to save their father from Meg. The brothers set a trap for Meg. (Directly from IMDB)
Director: Kim Manners
Writers: Eric Kripke, Sera Gamble, Raelle Tucker
Set in: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
We’re just gonna finish off this season now. It’s been half a year.
WHAT DID I JUST SAY FIVE SECONDS AGO??? BOBBY FREAKING SINGER
“John just has that effect on people.” I love this man
The demons are multiplying
“A storm’s coming, and you boys, your daddy, you are smack in the middle of it.” it won’t be the last time
This is one of the first uses of a demon trap, I think
Does Bobby have his panic room yet?
Some more demon lore
they’re just now learning about possession?
exorcism too
“You think you guys invented lying to the cops? I’ll figure something out.”
“You guys just find your dad, but when you do, bring him round here alright, I won’t even try to shoot him this time.” Bobby is such a great character
Sam is using the top of the car as a desk and that’s hilarious to me
Why do they keep using each others names? It’s like every other sentence, there's no one else in the conversation
“I’ve got a corgi upstairs and he pees when he’s nervous!”
Dena wanted to be a fireman, that’s adorable
Are demons deterred by salt?
Cause I thought that was just ghosts
Also I was always under the impression that kind of like Batman, they were really cautious about humans under demonic possession, but I guess that hasn’t started yet
there it is
“I’m proud of you.” That’s literally all Dean has ever wanted to hear from John
And yet, this is absolutely heartbreaking. “He wouldn’t be proud of me, he’d tear me a new one.”
“Make the gun float to you, psychic boy.”
Is this the first time they said the words, “meat suit”?
Have they not found the demon blade yet?
Jump scare at the end of this episode, holy crap.
