Why Crowley is "blind" to his Yellow Eyes

To us, the audience, Aziraphale's appreciation and generous use of the color yellow feels like a clear nod to the color of Crowley's eyes. And who could blame him? They're beautiful.

But Crowley doesn't know that.

Because Crowley isn't, on any given day, all that aware that his eyes are yellow, and the reason is more complex than you may think. Explanation below the cut:

Crowley's Body Dysphoria

When you have body dysphoria, whether that is related to gender or being a demon, you tend to avoid mirrors, and looking at Crowley's apartment:

There isn't a single mirror in the place.

It makes sense that he would avoid looking at his own eyes; they're a mark of God's disdain. They are the insult added to injury of the Fall. The original reason for making him a snake, after all, was to put him belly down in the dirt, as far from Her as it was possible to be.

So while Crowley is constantly aware of whether or not he is wearing his sunglasses, and is by extension constantly aware that is eyes are off-putting and weird for people who aren't Aziraphale, he may not necessarily be constantly aware that his eyes are yellow because, well, he doesn't see them and actively avoids doing so.

Crowley is prevented from recognizing the signs that Aziraphale loves him because he does not love himself.
