We call Bulls!

Now, this seems really early for some, but if you know earth signs, you know they like to make sure things are in the proper place and everything is put together on time. And that’s exactly what is going on here. It’s Taurus Time!

As with every other zodiac sign and constellation, Taurus has a story. Cancer was the crab sent by Hera to stop Heracles, Leo was the Nemiean Lion, Virgo is one of three maidens, Libra is the scales of justice, Scorpio is the scorpion in battle with Orion, Sagittarius is Chiron the centaur, Capricorn is the sea goat Pricus, Aquarius a prince stolen to be admired by Zeus, Pisces the two fish that saved Eros and Aphrodite, and Aries is the flying sheep Chrysomallos. Taurus though, is a form Zeus took to seduce a maiden he fancied. Zeus is known for his numerous affairs and even has many of them immortalized in our knowledge without many people noticing. The planet Jupiter is named after the Roman king of the gods, Jove. Jove, the counterpart of Zeus, had many of the same lovers, the names of whom became the names of the moons surrounding the gas giant.

One of the most interesting moons of Jupiter is Europa. Europa in mythology was a princess and daughter of King Agenor of Phoenicia. The Phoenician kingdom sat across the Mediterranean Sea from Greece and were some of the first sailors and explorers of the water. The gods of Olympus watched over everything and the fair princess of Phoenicia was so beautiful, Zeus was immediately smitten. The king of the gods knew he had to have the princess. The prize of King Agenor was his herd of cows and bulls. Europa tended to the herd and that was how Zeus began to hatch his adulterous plan. Being the shape-shifter that he was, he transformed into a pure white bull and stood among the herd. He made sure he was the tallest, strongest, and most beautiful of the bulls in the herd so he would catch Europa’s attention. And being the young woman she was, she took notice of the newest addition to her father’s prized herd. She came to the white bull and pet him, trying to make a relationship so that the bull would trust her. When she felt the white bull trusted her enough, she climbed on Zeus’s back and the god ran off with her astride him. He jumped into the sea and swam to the island of Crete where he spoiled her with many, many gifts. Each gift was lavish and exquisite, meant for the princess to fall deeper in love with the king of the gods. When she was finally smitten with the deity, he ravished her. He made sure she would remember him and she conceived not only one child but three. The children they would have together are the famed King Minos, Rhadamanthus, and Sarpedon. King Minos would go on to rule Crete, fail to sacrifice a bull to Poseidon, and thus have a son who was half bull and half human. This Minotaur would then become imprisoned in a maze and each year the citizens of Crete would sacrifice seven young boys and seven young girls to the minotaur in the maze. Zeus admired the bull and thus put it in the heavens as a sign for all to remember that the gods had ways of meddling in your life and to remain strong.

Strength is something most people know about those born under the Taurus sign. Born between the dates of April 21st and May 21st, Taureans are known for being a little stubborn and wanting to just relax with their comforts. They like things nice, orderly, peaceful, routine, and most of all comfortable. Also, food should be involved somewhere. With Taurus being ruled by Venus, these bulls are the most sensual of the zodiac and will easily fall for anyone who pampers them and gives them the life of luxury they believe they're entitled to. While they love to be spoiled, a Taurus knows the value of hard work. They know how to make money count and make everything stretch to be able to be pampered on a dime. Taureans are thrilled by the reward at the end of a challenge unlike Aries who love the challenge itself. Bulls are ambitious and focused when they can see the prize at the end. Anything that gives a return on their investment like time into a friendship or relationship, money into an account, giving up their possessions to travel the world for enlightenment… they better get something out of the whole thing or their mood will be sour for a while. Being the fixed earth sign, Taurus people are loyal and excellent at organizing and maintaining systems. Routine, reliability, and consistency are highly valued by Taureans, so be sure to follow through on promises and commitments with them. There is a downside to their need for consistency though. If you find a Taurus in a bad situation, they tend to stay because it's what they have come to expect in most situations. They don't like change much and so they have a hard time leaving to new things. Toxic jobs, relationships, and situations tend to keep Taureans more often than they should because the routine is comforting to the cosmic bull. However, if you're lucky enough to get a Taurus for a partner, you can be sure they are devoted, loyal, and dependable. They will shower you in devotion and show you that pampering can be best enjoyed in pairs.

Taurus's colors are green and pink, so putting them together tend to mean a bit more luck than average for a Taurean. And sometimes it's best to know what day of the week is the luckiest for you and if you're born under this sign, those days are Friday and Monday, so you may want to think about scheduling interviews then. And just like on the Chinese food fortune cookies, you need to know your lucky numbers. Those numbers for Taurus are 2, 6, 9, 12, and 24. Taurus also has their own mantra in the words "I Possess". Taureans are strong willed and strong backed, so they make for amazing friends and partners.
