Summary: After graduating from college you’re thrown out into the real world and left to figure out the next steps you’re supposed to take in your life in the big city of New York. As fate would have it, you end up breaking up with your boyfriend only to find two guitar players and aspiring actors finding their own place in the world that same exact day and place, who knew they’d end up being the people you’ve been unknowingly searching for all this time.

Music played from inside the building reaching your ears as you made your way through the chilly autumn air to the brick walled building, smiling politely you mumbled a thank you to the stranger holding the door open for you as you made your way inside to the Salt and Straw café. 

The place itself looked small on the outside but it was actually quite roomy, it had a little bit of a rustic style with exposed brick along the wall and a long bar table near the counter that held the register and coffee machines, the smell of strong coffee filled your senses instantly making you perk up

You made your way past the crowds of people holding coffee cups filled with whatever drink they ordered and to the stage surrounded by some couches and chairs, a few warm lights lighting up the area and a bright spotlight pointed at the center of the stage

Tumblr is Hard.

I’ve concluded after years of being on here that it’s hard to keep up. Here are my reasons.

My obsessive phases. I’ll go through phases where it’s so easy to create content because that subject is currently my favorite thing. But as I move out of these phases, it’s hard to keep up. I lack the passion needed to create quality content.

Acknowledgements for quality content. I’ve had a couple big posts, but those posts aren’t exactly my “best” works. They’re fun posts, dabbling posts, but not ones that I work super hard on.

Social media isn’t a good place for me. I struggle with seeing the numbers, which correlates to #2. Numbers are acknowledgements to me, and I lack in those at times.

The negativity. We all know this one. This would be the place to get away from it all, but seeing politics and brutality spread all over my feed makes it really hard to enjoy my time on here. I’m all for being politically active and fighting for justice, it’s just that I feel like I’m constantly bombarded with all the bad things. Social media plays a big part in my depression. I’ve had really really scary thoughts about my life after seeing some of these horrific events happening in the world that it’s so hard to get on here and act like it’s okay.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though.

I’ve had some really great things happen in my life this past year.

You guys! I’ve grown a significant amount here and I’m very thankful. I get really excited when you follow me along in my life, and want to know more about me. One of the things you might’ve noticed last year is that I started dating! My boyfriend and I have now been together for almost 10 months, and you all got to see the beginning of that. I even have a piece written in inspiration of our relationship! It’s called His Jacket and I’ll link it here if you’d like to check it out.

I got my first ever actual job just over a month ago! It’s going so well, I’m so happy about it!

I turned 18! I’ve been on Tumblr since I was about 12/13, so I’ve seen a lot change here. But now that I’m 18, I might dabble in some more scandalous writing, no promises though. I will say this- if I were to do that, I will write from experience. None of that “he put it in for the first time and it was amazing” crap because honestly, it’s not realistic. I might even share some of my experiences with you, but again, no promises.
