All the Kurosawa left to him smiled at him from her favorite spot by the window. Sakiuri knew well how precarious their lives were, but he wondered if she knew how far he would go to keep her out of their hands.

][ featuring a very startled Yein from @iron-sparrow! ][
In my heart of hearts there is a ship of confused sailors wondering where the hell Yein went too and one sailor swearing he saw a lady yank them off the ship.
She's just curious about their mouth! They have sharp teeth, too! Maybe they can also breathe underwater.

He'd gone over it eleven times by her counting.
"We'll retrieve the map, gather equipment, and then set out to retrieve it," Osric said, pacing across the inn room. "Roronji couldn't reach it already, not if he's going down the list."
C'allie rubbed a fingertip across the bridge of her nose. She didn't press down, not on thin flesh over recently mended bone, and let her hand slide up to rest her cheek against her palm. Her left ear swung when her head moved.
Her right ear swiveled to follow Osric when he paused by the bed, wrung his hands, paced to the door, returned to stand by the desk.
"Cal."
She looked towards him.
"You should've killed him years ago."
She didn't answer. He'd crossed his arms; his right foot cocked out to the side, ready to start the rapid tapping that preceded an argument. Mags, perhaps, would've indulged his obvious desire to fight over nothing until he felt better.
She didn't.
"Cal, did you hear me?"
"Mmmhmm." She curled her tail, feeling the slight catch. Better than she'd hoped. Osric still knew his way around an alchemy lab and his aether-infused salves and tonics did very, very well to heal up most of the lingering damage.
Her left ear twitched, but didn't lift.
"Cal."
"Yes, Osric?"
"If you're so certain of the entire affair to stop listening, do feel free to recap for me," he said, fingertips beginning to drum on his arm.
Strange how all of the nervous habits returned the longer they were in each other's presence. She kept leaning forward, an arm or a leg positioned to block easy access to her abdomen. He kept pacing, twitching, orbiting about her and refusing to give her his back.
"You know I heard you the first time. As always. I'm not going to repeat it word for word for your gratification."
"...you should've killed him years ago."
"I could say the same about you." She didn't turn her head, but narrowed her eyes slightly at him. "As you could say the same about me."
Osric's mouth worked, pursing as if he could taste bitterness on the words he heard. And the breath he drew in through his nose had the deliberation of temper.
"You could," he said at last. "As could I. I see your point."
"When do we leave?"
"In two days." Osric eyed her, a flicker of ill humor glinting through the distraction. "Tyo'a will bring the map."
Ah.
"Looking forward to that, are you?" She arched a brow, letting her head loll against her palm, left ear swinging against her hair.
Osric abruptly grinned. "Greatly."

A god did not need to be present in the world for their gentle hand to bless those who still offered prayers. Pythia knew this, and sought to reassure others.

My whole world has suddenly turned insane. My door's chained up, the windows are sealed shut… And on top of that, someone chained the door from the inside. How am I going to get out of here?
