Welcome, I'm Julie Carlson - illustrator, geek, PNW born & raised, Christian, lover of ocean and mountains - & this is my sketchblog. Have fun exploring & thanks for visiting! OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS
How do you make sure you’re taking care of yourself?
As much as I don’t like it, cleaning things up helps! But I much prefer the journaling (& praying), the cozy moments with blankets and pillows, & getting outside (even tho I have to be convinced sometimes to get up & go outside… 😅)
Part 1/2 of some icons I made for #gettingpaidtodraw based on the theme of self care. Come back for more next week!
Finished an older project I’d abandoned: portraits (part 2/2), based on the topic of people who probably should have won the Nobel Prize for a topic another person won for, because of such reasons as they assisted that person in their work or their work on the same topic was more comprehensive or integral to the topic. This features Giovanni Battista Grassi (left) and Ethel Browne Harvey (right).

For those who maybe, by chance, might actually be interested in what I made the earrings out of...
I'm just stupidly proud of them, ok??? 😅
This (and bring sick with Covid and starting on a few commissions) is what I've been up to lately (& thus absent from here a bit). I think it turned out pretty cute even though this is my first time wearing a wig and I'm not totally happy with the haircut I gave it. Coat turned out AMAZING thanks to a friend and those cute shorts (& a number of other things she helped me with) are thanks to my mom, who cut down a pair of full length jeans for me.
