All of Hans's brothers, except the twins, were now married with children.
Elizabeth Rudnick, "A Frozen Heart", Paper Rocket, 2016, p. 31
Meet Lars's children.
Olga is eight years old. Her name was picked out by her mother, as the tradition of the Southern Isles demands. Her curly hair also comes from Helga's side. She is a brave, outgoing girl, very protective of her younger brother. She vaguely remembers Hans, but she was only two when Arendelle happened and, of course, was not allowed to interact with him at all. She knows someone is missing, but since her dad doesn't want to talk about it - she is left alone with her questions.
Jens just turned six and already knows how to read - which makes his dad madly proud. He loves his big sister with all of his little heart and takes her as his highest authority. Really smart for his age, Jens starts to show the same passion for history as his parents - even if he doesn't understand the nuisances yet. He also doesn't understand why his dad sometimes, especially when he is distracted, tired or unfocused, gets his name wrong and calls him "Hans".

I am a professional pirate, so I tried to escape. You are professional guards, so you caught me.
The first time, you are terrified. The eighteenth time, you are pretty much used to it. - Hans at some point.
Being pirates, Hans and his friends find themselves under arrest quite often and in various locations - they even keep a log with ratings for every jail they visited (Arendelle was given 4 stars, the Southern Isles have 1). The Republic gives simple directions for those situations: keep calm, know your surroundings, know your wardens, befriend everyone you can, gather intel, remember to alert your mates and your crew (and your lawyer), don't make it harder than necessary for anyone involved but don't forget your wits and your Attitude™. Besides, if it seems like you will be behind bars for longer, you should at least try to escape, for the sake of tradition.
Also - it is considered good manners to tip your executioner!

Erish, soon
Kristoff: This guy who hosted us wasn't so nice, though.
Hans: He insulted both my family and my homeland, so, aye, not so nice.
Kristoff: He called Sven "a beast" and made snarky remarks about my... smell.
Hans: Good we are on our way, then.
Hans: ...also, he stated that your wife is "just beautiful" in comparasion to your "angelic, divine being" of a sister-in-law.
Kristoff: ...so I did hear him right, when he said Anna is... simple.
Hans: ...
Kristoff: ...
Hans: But we are mature adults.
Kristoff: Exactly.
Hans: Mature adults are above that.
Kristoff: Of course. We are simply too old to care about comments like it.
Hans: Because we know our worth and don't need to prove anything.
Kristoff: And Anna doesn't need our protection, she can handle herself just fine.
Hans: I know that best.
Kristoff: Besides, you really shouldn't be the one fighting in her honor.
Hans: I lost that privilege long ago. She would be furious.
Kristoff: She would call it "immature", "stupid" and "reckless".
Hans: And "pathetic". And "unnecessary". And, well, my ship is ready to set sails, then we can forget all about it, so...
Kristoff: ...
Hans: ...
Kristoff: <cracking his fists> You coming with me?
Hans: <pulling cutlass out> Right behind ya!

"Hang in there!"
Hans is doing his thing. No one knows what the thing actually is and why is he doing it, but he looks happy. He's just there, having a good time, giving his Orange Cat™ vibes.

What would Honeymarren look like if she were dolled up to visit the Castle? Imagining an awkward games night....
Elsa may realize she can't resist this....

So, apparently the new Lorcana card just dropped and Hans is now in the storyline, working for Ursula, which is OMG
But also, Hans, mate... where are you?
Did you just break into the Arendellian castle? And into Kristoff's bedroom? Do you have a deathwish, you absolute nut?
How have you managed to do that, have you just climbed over the walls like an assassin?? Or have you just picked a lock? Or both?!
Have you disguised yourself as a peppermint cookies seller again?!
