It’s so hard for this season to try and compare with the awesomeness off season 1, but let me just say:

SPOILERS BELOW UA S2

CARMICHAEL THE GOLDFISH

I love this weird little fish and I thought it was such a long shot for him to exist in show but we got him!!! Sad he didn’t have his little hat though

Sissy

I knew from the second that those pictures of the new actores was out that she and Vanya would hook up, glad that Ellen Page got to be the lesbian she deserved to be. Didn’t really care for all the separate screen time they got without vanya in it, because it felt like they were saying a lot of the same things ever time it cut to there story line.

Love Interest In general

I’m actually glad they didn’t make it into the “current” time line. I didn’t want them to have all these extra characters and the seven to have all these responsibilities in the next season. I felt like they help the characters grow in their relationships and it’s ok to send them off. (I’m only really invested in the main 7 with sometimes other characters on screen with the 7)

Commission

Was I the only who felt this took a long time and was a little boring or felt like wasted time. I get that they were the Hazal and Cha cha of the season but really I didn’t really care that much about the commission or the handler and I’m glad to see that they’ll be less of the main conflict of the next season.

Another apocalypse

Now I know in the comics that there trying to stop the nuclear apocalypse but this time it felt a little to much like the first season. In the comics they were assassinating JFK for the first time in their world and they didn’t even know about the Nukes until they got back to the present. The whole counting down the days till the end of the world felt a bit like they we’re reusing a formula that worked the first time instead of something new. Especially with all the flash backs, felt like a long season two. I also think that time jumps like this are risky in a show this early in its season and the pay off wasn’t that good, not really invested into the new characters we were shown, but that’s ok because none of them really make it into the next season (yah I get there’s a lot of time jumping but you get what I mean)

FBI and Vanaya

I’m actually kind of glad this story line was in there, felt like it was the most interesting main story wise thing we got from her all season. I mean she’s barely in Comic Dallas so it was nice to see her being used this time. I found it actually one of the few times I got emotional in the season. The climb to get her felt a little to long though. Ben was walking way to slow for me. Also glad we know for sure she was that Russian baby adopted.

Family Bonding

Nice to see them kind of working like a team, shows how much they’ve learn and grown from the last season. Easier to see them solve the plot when they’re working together. also in general they seamed a bit nicer to each other but like there comic counterparts. Also I’m glad they didn’t dwel too much on the past season with them not really bring it up to much and saying sorry (Luther to Vanya) but still focus a lot on how vanyas the bomb. I’ve seen things about how the siblings would react when there all together for the first time, but it sees like they’ve moved on in away . Not in away we’re they didn’t happen, but more like they did happen and they can’t only focus on the past, specially since some of them have been their for years. They seemed more like siblings in this season and I’m glad, hopefully the next plot will resolve less on them being distant from one another and the apocalypse, on a new more original plot. Wasn’t really a lot of Luther bashing like how some fans treated it. I’m glad to see how all the characters seem to mature more in this season

Vanya and Luther

I’m glad there wasn’t a lot of judgment and resentment between them, as they are two of my favorite characters and I’ve seen the fandom pit them against eachother and the blaming of the apocalypse goes to mainly either them from each side of the arguments (even though they all caused the apocalypse)

Powers

Did anyone feel like some powers were over the top this season and didn’t really get the expectations and reasoning the so desperately needed, cough cough, vanya floating around. Did enjoy all the teases to Klaus power of  Psychokinesis. Degio curving  bullets around was an interesting twist to his power. Klaus finally gets some more ghost summoning power, they’re green for some reason but that’s ok. Didn’t really like the whole little kid got some of Vanyas powers story line, didn’t really make much sense. What was up with Bens power and the ability to go into Vanya? The Commission girl what was her power and why hide it for so long? Wouldn’t that make you more trustworthy if you’re seen like them, but I guess since they’re supposed to be in the 60’s... Also the final felt cheese and a little uncalled for, not really rewarding to watch.

Grace

I like the idea that she’s the assistant of Reginald in the past helped with Pogo and he made her again as his assistant to the children. Makes her robot relationship with pogo a little bit more sad, him getting to see the sheel of the person that raised him (also sad we didn’t see more of Phineas Pogo but all’s well with that) It’s got me thinking, I always though that the Stela in the comics that helped Reginald with deep space research was the lady he left in the cold open of E10 S1, but I’m guessing that that’s just straight up Grace in this world.

Reginald Hargreeves

Like that he straight up admitted to not liking children and didn’t like the way his future children truned out. Interesting that they kept him in the story so much, considering that he’s not that big in the comics or even that much last season (if you don’t include flash backs). Glad though that he finally revealed as an alien, now don’t have to explain that it’s in the comics before a sharing a theory on it for the show. His contribution to the plot felt a lot like the commison, long and a bit boring as it never really drove the plot. ALSO saw the blue prints for the televator so fingers crossed for Hotel Oblivion

Milk Man or the 3 Sweeds

I hadn’t seen the trailer and made a light joke of it being funny if they included the milk man in the season, and that I appreciate reference. Interesting characters as they weren’t in the comics so got to experience them as brand new characters. Honestly though never felt like a big threat and forgot abou them most of the time.

The Sparrows

I’m so glad they’re called that because I’ve been calling them that since we first saw them in the comics, thought we would get them later in the show though. Interesting how Ben is there counter part and how there with Reginald rather then his pink haired friend and grace. Also weirdreligious Grace looks like she’s not going to be in next season.

Next season

I not really happy that there still not in the right timeline, felt like they could have had the sparrows pop up from another location, or even more middle of the next season with what ever there trying to do (hopefully not try and stop another apocalypse). The ending didn’t seam that satisfying and once again a cliffhanger, but the comics last ending so I’ll give it a pass.

Notes: I can’t really judge this season too harshly considering it is my least favorite volume and watching it thought the night on only one watch, I might have missed some things. Didn’t like the finally battle at all though

Seeking collaborators for Seven Umbrellas: A Super Unofficial Musical

For those of you who haven’t been following me/7U, hello! I’m an amateur theatre songwriter, and since last fall, I’ve been writing a Fringe-esque full-length musical adaptation of The Umbrella Academy Season 1 (with key bits of influence from the comics). With 90% of the score written, much of America still shut down, and Season 2 slated for July 31st, I thought now would be the time to throw together a polished album, reading, or series of videos of the material as a collaborative fan-filmy project!

I’m currently seeking folks with experience in singing/acting, media production, editing, music supervising, etc. to workshop this with. Here is a link to a Google Drive folder with rough demos of the first two songs as well as the corresponding pages in the current script so one could get a feel for the tone. For reals tho ^^. And most the cast has brown eyes so no ones safe. And then people trying to say it’s Diego because of the comics or that it can’t be Leanord that’s to obvious. 

I’m really disappointed that umbrella academy didn’t come out more weekly, because we really missed out on people comparing the glass eye to the actores and arguing about it

I don’t know if you noticed in Umbrella Academy...

Vanya by the end of show becomes villain.

Hear me out. She lost her mind when she was lock. She destroyed Academy bc of trauma memories. During destruction, she went through memories where her siblings didnt appreciate her as sister. So she destroyed it to burn her memories and old life.

In concert: she smiled back to Allison to show her that she noticed her. And when she used her power on her siblings it looked like she was going to suck their lives.

Its one of creation of villain: trauma or mental issues. Vanya began to lost her mind. This is what I like more than in comics where she was just brainwashed.

This is kind of villain that you don’t have to kill. Just be careful bc she already lost trust in humanity.
