I hate when I’m reading a good fic, then it’s ruined by a shitty defense of the Robins and the narrative acting like the shitty defense is right.

‘They chose to be Robins!’

They were children; they were not capable of making that choice and should not have been in a position to make it.

‘They needed Robin!’

Nope. A traumatised child (whether that be by the death of their parents or by abuse or homelessness) needs therapy, not to be dressed in brightly coloured spandex and taken to fight criminals.

‘They would have gone out anyways!’

This just makes Batman look like a moron. 8, 10 and 12 year olds are not capable of outsmarting or out fighting Batman. Bruce could have and should have kept them at home. It’s called parenting.

Hey, can the Batfandom stop acting like Dick is the only male member of the Batfam to have experienced SA/Rape?

(I specify male because I don’t actually know if the ladies have experienced SA/rape, though I’m willing to bet they have.)

Bruce was raped by Talia. Jason was also raped by Talia, and was likely victimised during his time as a vulnerable street child. Tim came very close to being raped by creepy Ra’s’ sister.

Yeah, Dick has been victimised more, but the others have also suffered the same traumas and it irritates me when that goes ignored. Especially in Bruce’s case, as he’s got a living breathing reminder of his rape living with him, likely exacerbating his trauma constantly.

(this is why I don’t think Bruce should have taken Damian in. Well, and that Damian’s a horrible little bastard who tried to kill Bruce’s son.)

Robert's Rebellion started because King Aerys brutally murdered Lord Rickard Stark and his heir Brandon Stark, as well as Ser Elbert Arryn, the heir to the Vale, then demanded the heads of Lord Robert Baratheon and Lord Eddard Stark.

The only part where women are even involved is that Brandon was arrested for demanding Rhaegar's head because he believed that Rhaegar had abducted his sister Lyanna.

Lyanna is to blame for willingly running away with Rhaegar, but that's not the sole reason the rebellion started and isn't even an unfair thing to blame her for.

Just remembered something about NCIS that is very disturbing.

One of the main characters is an Israeli who often talks very fondly of Israel, which isn’t bad on its own, but factor in that she’s a Mossad agent whose father explicitly hates Palestinians…yeah. Ziva is almost certainly a Zionist and probably at least helped commit some crimes against humanity.

But that’s not what I’m talking about as being very disturbing. No, that would be Ziva’s half brother, Ari Haswari. Their father, Eli David, the head of Mossad, deliberately conceived Ari with a Palestinian woman so he could be a mole within Hamas. It seems very unlikely to me that a Palestinian woman would consent to having sex with the head of Mossad, so…yeah, nonchalant implication of the rape of a Palestinian woman. Fantastic start.

Oh, it gets worse. See, one of Eli David’s children is a good person who just wants to help people with NCIS and the other is an evil nasty terrorist who just wants to hurt people. Guess which one the half Palestinian Hamas mole is.

Now, this plotline is from 2004/2005, and I don’t know what the general knowledge level of the Israeli colonisation and oppression of Palestinians was then, but the Ziva extols the virtues of Israel and is a good nice Mossad agent storyline continued until 2013. And they’ve just announced a spin off featuring her and Tony, because making a show where the main character is a proud Israeli Mossad agent is such a great idea right now.

Of course, we’re talking about NCIS here. This show and its spin off NCIS LA love a good Muslim terrorist cell plot. Ugh.

No, Dick 'struggling' does not excuse his terrible treatment of Tim. He is a grown ass man in his mid twenties. If he was struggling so badly, he should have asked for help, not dealt with it by mistreating a child in his care.

No, Alfred being the one who technically handed the Robin costume to Damian does not excuse Dick of responsibility. Dick did not say no. Dick did not object to it. Dick took Damian out as Robin. He should have refused to.
