hi i just saw ur conversation in the notes of that post and just thought id stop by to tell u that ur 100% being racist and are in the wrong, and u need to literally apologize and educate urself because coming from a 21 yr old, you are too damn old to be saying this shit. a BIPOC person who has been hurt by white people is not racist. racism is a systemic and institutional thing. ur whole ‘just bc ur bipoc doesnt mean ur better’ is hilarious since white ppl have always devalued bipoc.

I believe that in order to change things, one must understand and grow and people have to allow that to happen. I was, in no way, devaluing their opinion. They were devaluing mine on the basis that i am white and while i completely understand that it is up to BIPOC and POC to decide when shane has righted his wrongs, i was trying to be optimistic.

The fact that they assumed immediatly that i was defending him and forcing them to forgive is what i wqs unhappy about and what i pointed out.

And you cant sit here and tell me that racism isnt equally as bad when you racially profile a white person and want equality. Is it as much of an issue for white people? Hell no. But it doesnt erase its existence.

Alright i see that i may not be following the beliefs that ive stated previously, so i want to do my best to dissapate the anger here and get out the facts of the matter.

I have nothing against you. Infact, there are a lot of issues right now surrounding the dissaperences of indigenious people and thats important. I support that. Im just saying this for clarification.

I do not support or wish to justify what shane has done. He did bad things and he needs to answer for them.

I am just glad that he has taken that first step towards answering for them through that video. I think that the video was honest and genuine, and i believe that he deserves a chance. If he fucks up or fails to follow through with the actions he claims to intend to do, then i will give up. Then i will consider him irredeemable. I, as a white person, am in a place to do that. The true redemption does not come until those he hurt have seen enough change in him, and thats okay.

Rigjt because i, as a trans pansexual man, cannot look at things from a forgiving position because i am supposed to be fueled with anger by things that happened in the past.

Anyway, the comparison to incarceration- these people, much like racist people, have done bad things. Stealing. Hurting people. Etc. these people go to jail to reform their lives, much as a racist person might take an apology and time for penance for their actions (albeit not to the same degree) now the people who are in jail are not able to do this because of the shitty conditions and constant cycle of being put back there because they have no where else to go.
