i dont have the exact data on hand and i wont have time to get it for a bit but generally speaking the amount of "people who logged in at least yesterday" was, last i checked, in the low one thousands.

cherp is defo far from a popular site but anyone who thinks that it only has like 50 active users must have a lot of tags blacklisted and not engage in too many fandoms. i don’t think 1/5 of the site replies to most of my starters, and i really don’t think it’s the same 10ish people who are doing so

My only blacklisted tags are ha*bin hotel, hell*va boss, and South Park

I do kinda wish you COULD block/mute individual users. I know something something anonymity but like, I really do keep having a problem with connecting to or being connecting to by people who I have had bad RP experiences with before (we just didn't gel, they DC'd without warning, etc etc) MULTIPLE TIMES! and after a point I'd like to just remove them from my potential RP partner pool (and vice versa) instead of having to go 'ok yeah based on text color/writing style/desired RP this is 99% the person who I had that bad time with'

i agree with this critique which is why we plan on overhauling the system for cardinal. stay tuned!

i’ll be so for real i don’t use cherp unless i’m in a dire situation of rp desperation. it’s a last resort, and usually a waste of energy for me bc i have moved on from naruto to a fandom with somehow even less of an rp presence despite it being one of the most popular games ever released in it’s genre. but that’s not really cherps fault. my current cherp gripe is once again the tagging system. i’m sorry but i do think it knocks down peoples chances of getting connects when they have to add 8 scary tags to their prompt for vague mentions of things existing in the backstory of a character, which IS a very different from having the tag actually featured in the rp. it’s also just……. nsfwe does not mean anything anymore. i feel bad for ppl looking for actual nsfwe content while the tag is filled with completely normal prompts that are just there bc someone has a tragic backstory.

it’s also useless to me for actually blacklisting content i don’t want to see. like “abuse” is tagged for rps that actively feature abuse or want to rp an abusive dynamic, but also ones that just have it in the backstory or otherwise in the background. i’m fine with the latter, and i’m not fine with like, rping an abusive dynamic. but i’m fine with it being featured in the rp in other aspects or as a background element. so blacklisting the tag is not helpful bc it also blacklists prompts i might want and would not be upsetting to me. but also i have to wade through shit i don’t want to see. and likewise, actual nsfwe rpers have to wade through a bunch of irrelevant normal shit. it’s just not very effective and i feel like there should be tags that differentiate the level of how those red tags actually exist in the rp.

(but also in general site user, post amount, and prompt amount growth has remained steady over the past couple of years and most of the reason why it seems "emptier" is changes in taste as to what the fandom du jour is)

We can’t even go a day anymore without people saying that the directory feels dead or that their prompts are no longer getting hits. Honestly, I feel like the staff has done everything they could to kneecap the community at every possibility and now we’re seeing a decline. Strict rules about prompt quality, no off site movement without id verification, not to mention the rule that you can’t share personal details about your life ooc (rule 9). Hell, they even neutered the cherp discord which used to be bursting with activity by removing all the channels. I also think it’s very telling that the tag which used to have many regulars that posted regularly is now essentially barren save for a few specific users who only post occasionally. Funding also looks like it’s gone down if you check the donation page.

RPing has always been a very social activity and seeing the attempt to take the social aspect out of it really kills the vibe. You can’t make friends on the site anymore and no one really wants to talk about the site outside of it. There’s no enthusiasm. I give the site less than two years before it dies if things keep going the way they are.

PLEASE DONT LET IT DIE…….

we do not end your chats for you in any circumstance (account deletion just vanishes them), however getting banned does draft all your prompts.

Cherp ends the chat if ur partner gets banned.

Yea, if a person is banned or deletes their account, all chats they were in are auto-ended.

You can RP feral. The reason we don’t allow underage is because our hosting provider will kick us off. Our hosting provider has no issue with fictional feral stuff but fictional underage content is illegal where they are located and so if we don’t take care of it we lose our very good deal

I hope @cherp-official knows whatever ips they report to authorities for rping underage stuff or feral.....those don't go anywhere and can't be acted on. In fact they're clogging up the systems and preventing real cases from being investigated. I get they had problems with ACTUAL bad shit but this....this is not how you go about fixing it. There is no correlation between writing this stuff and looking at real shit. Makes me sad to see what I thought was a good place go the way of the anti cult.

None of what you say in your rules n shit can be backed up, the feds aren't going to prosecute somebody for rping horny shit about animals or kids. Because there's no abuse. They're not even going to check and see if there's nasty real shit on their PC. Because they're not stupid, they know the difference between fiction and reality.

Anyway if there's a site that DOES know the difference lemme know homies. I rp adults and trolls 99% of the time, but I won't support open unscientific idiocy for convenience sake.

We don’t report these to the authorities. The only times we send information to legitimate authorities is when illegal activity such as drug exchanging, actual real life pedophilia, actual real life bestialty, etc, occurs on or around the site. I don’t care about what you RP enough to send it to the cops, and thankfully we haven’t had a situation requiring it in years.

most of them are tagging issues which are like. "legitimate" in the sense that the tags do need correction but that's probably not what you meant. if you mean what reports are like actual rule breaking that requires Action, we probably have to Do Something About it anywhere from 5-15 times a week.

more often is someone trying to argue something in or out of NSFWE based on personal tastes, outright "this shouldnt be on the site" is pretty rare.

Cherp staff! If it's not breaching some kind of security or anonymity thing I am unaware of, how many Reports do you generally get in a day?

Bonus question: How many of those Reports are actually legitimate, and how many are just the reporter being a hater trying to justify getting a prompt they dislike removed? Unless that is also too much info.
