richie drunkenly stumbles to ben’s house in the middle of the night and starts singing outside his window

ben wakes up and looks out the window to see what’s going on, not mad or anything, just curious

he sees richie and starts laughing when he realizes what’s happening and he lets him do his thing for a bit just laughing to himself but eventually he’s like alright he’s gotta get some rest

so he goes outside and he’s like alright buddy lets go and he hitches one of richie’s arms around his shoulder and richie is drunk so naturally he loses his glasses, right? so he turns to ben and he’s like i don’t have my glasses so idk who you are but thank you and boops him on the nose and laughs and ben just shakes his head and rolls his eyes and he’s like god you’re an asshole

so then ben lays him down on the couch and brings him a glass of water and a bottle of aspirin for the morning and he covers him in a blanket and asks him if he needs anything else before he goes back upstairs and richie doesn’t respond right away so he starts heading off but then richie lazily grabs his shirt collar and pulls him back down and he’s like *i love u noises* right before falling asleep and ben just smiles and kisses his forehead and heads up to bed

a target date quickly turns into an impulse marriage

ok so imagine benchie going out on a late night target run and they run around finding the dumbest things to make each other laugh

and like richie gets a can of whipped cream and sprays ben in the face, and normally that would make ben all anxious because like they haven’t paid for it and he doesn’t wanna get in trouble but because he’s with richie he can’t seem to care and they just break down laughing

like the kind of laughter where your stomach hurts and nothing else seems to matter

and then richie jumps on ben’s back and ben starts running around the store with richie on piggyback and like even the store employees don’t care because their laughter is just so infectious

so then they find a candy machine and ben holds up a quarter and he’s like “ok if we get a blue one, lets get married tonight” and richie starts laughing but trails off because he realizes there’s not a hint of amusement on ben’s face and he says “wait you’re serious?”

and ben nods and richie just looks at him long and hard for a second and he’s just like yeah ok fuck it

so then ben puts in the quarter and richie grips ben’s sleeve as he turns the knob to keep himself from shaking

and then the candy thuds inside the compartment and they glance at each other for a moment before ben finally reaches in and sure enough it’s a blue ring pop and they just kinda stand there looking at each other for a second, stunned

and then ben smiles and unwraps it and gets down on one knee offering richie the ring pop and before he can even get a word out richie’s like HELL YEAH and grabs the ring pop and puts it on his finger and then he grabs ben’s hand and they run out of the store
