One for Heaven and Earth

T, 7k, Wangxian
Summary: An incredulous "Whoa," behind Lan Wangji yanks him out of his meditative state. He spins around fast enough for his wet hair to stick to his cheek. His eyes widen in horror. On the shore of the Cold Springs, Wei Wuxian stands, half-dressed in his own robes. He holds up Lan Wangji's heavenly robe, the fabric shining like spilled stars at midnight. "Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian breathes, a whole constellation reflecting in his eyes. "What's this? It's so—" ---------- On the night Lan Wangji's mother left, she gave him a divine robe and told him to never let anyone see or take it from him. Kay's comments: Absolutely loved this re-telling of MDZS where Lan Wangji's mother was a heavenly maiden and made heavenly robes for him and his brother. A very creative look at the backstory between Lan Wangji's parents and I love the subtle ways it affected his relationship with Wei Wuxian as well. Beautifully written too! Excerpt: The Gusu Lan forehead ribbon means self-restraint. It is not meant to be touched by anyone other than one's fated person. Only with one's fated person can one truly be free. The heavenly robe is a gift bestowed on Lan Wangji by his mother. It is a status symbol as much as it is a part of his identity. Celestial blood flows through him. The robe is proof that he is entitled to walk among the heavens as he does on earth. To steal his robe would be to deny him his birthright. To even have permission to touch his robe would be a sign of complete trust. A forehead ribbon from his father. A heavenly robe from his mother. Both hold heavy significance. Neither can be given away without careful consideration. Which, to Lan Wangji's alcohol-riddled mind, is the perfect reason why Wei Wuxian should have both items.

Summary: Wei Ying has been waiting for her wife to return since the moment she left, five days previous; only through Sizhui’s presence was she able to knuckle her way through four days alone in the Jingshi, and by the morning of that fifth day she can no longer hold on. Every hour without Lan Zhan is an hour closer to Wei Ying leaving Cloud Recesses to get to her wife. - Or, lesbians. Kay's comments: Hell yeah, lesbians. I don't have much to add, since this is PWP. Really hot, very enjoyable and still so tender and sweet. They are wives and they are in love! I also really appreciated the bondage! Excerpt: “Did jiejie miss her Wei Ying?” Wei Ying asks when she finally has her voice back, leaning back to rest on Lan Zhan’s plush breasts as they soak. The bath water smells faintly of the orange oil that Wei Ying likes, and the light sandalwood soap that Lan Zhan prefers. She can’t help a contented sigh as Lan Zhan’s arms wind around her, cupping her breasts in turn, thumbing over her softened nipples, sliding down her sides to settle in the cradle of her hips. “As if I was left without air,” Lan Zhan murmurs into her hair, and Wei Ying shivers at the love, the wanting, she hears in Lan Zhan’s voice. Every day they are together Wei Ying’s love increases, boundlessly, and she is helpless in the face of it.

Summary:Jin Ling had hoped for a quiet evening in getting to visit with his uncles that he didn't get to see very often. Things went a bit awry. Kay's comments: Just a little post-canon fluff and Wangxian staying at Jinlintai and getting up to some shenanigans with Jin Ling feat. drunk Lan Wangji. Very cute, very funny, really enjoyed it!! Excerpt: He felt his face heat and scowled and ducked his head. “What's with you, Hanguang-jun?” he demanded, stepping out of head patting range before it could happen again. He looked helplessly at Wei Wuxian, who was being terrible and unhelpful by leaning on the wall and laughing. “Wei Wuxian? What's wrong with your husband?” Hanguang-jun, apparently uncaring of any insult only wandered back across the hall to pat Wei Wuxian on the head as well, as if he were worried he were feeling left out by only Jin Ling being tormented that way. “Wei Ying, the ponds.” “Yes, yes, the ponds,” Wei Wuxian said with an odd pinkness to his cheeks as Lan Wangji took one of his hands into his own, then pulled him across the hallway to grab Jin Ling's own hand before he could react, pulling the both of them along in the wrong direction again. “Lan Zhan, why don't you let Jin Ling lead?” Lan Wangji seemed to consider that for a moment then keep going. “Wei Wuxian,” he hissed under his breath, “what is going on?” His shishu made a half skip to keep up, looking utterly unfazed by the turn his evening had taken, “Lan Zhan was not looking at which cup he picked up at dinner and stole mine,” he said calmly, gently tugging on his arm to lead him in another direction at Jin Ling's nod. “So now the time for being drunk has arrived.”

M, 6k, Wen Qing
Summary: After her death at the hands of the Jin, Wen Qing's spirit lingers. Kay's comments: As you can tell, I'm currently hungering for Wen Qing deserves a little revenge, as a treat. Wen Qing should have been allowed to go a little apeshit. In this story she gets to do so and I absolutely loved it. After her death, she lingers as a ghost in Lanling and learns of Wen Ning still being alive (and being experimented on) and the upcoming Siege on the Burial Mounds. She tries his best to stop it, but unfortunately, she's just a small little spirit. It's only when the Burial Mounds get involved that she gets the power-up she needs to take revenge. Excerpt: But it is not enough. Wen Qing can see it in their faces as they call for more blood. No one speaks on her brother’s behalf, but Wen Qing does not expect them to. Not even Jiang Wanyin, who’d had Wei Wuxian at his side for years, utters a single word in his defense. Instead, he is one of the ones most adamant about bringing about his downfall. “Yunmeng-Jiang is more than happy to lead the siege against the Burial Mounds,” Jiang Wanyin declares. Wen Qing swarms around him unnoticed, wishing she had hands so that she could wring his neck. Ingrate! Have you forgotten your debts? Of your visit to the Burial Mounds? You know there is no army, only the elderly and a toddler. Wen Qing surges around him, filled with anger yet unable to interact with its source in the slightest. And to think, my brother was willing to lay down his life for you, to give up his core. Jiang Wanyin is undeserving of such a gift. Wen Qing regretted that she allowed herself to be convinced into giving it to him. I should rip that core right out of your chest and make you mundane once more. Wen Qing thinks bitterly. Leave your lower dantian empty and hollow, just like your heart.

Part of WuJi Fest
Summary: Lan Wangji maybe shouldn't have given his in-game husband his discord id. He shouldn't have taken the call every time they were about to play too. But as he heard Yiling Laozu's soft chuckle from the other end of the line, he knew his resolutions crumbled. Kay's comments: Ah, this story was absolutely adorable! Complete cuteness unleashed! Loved the idea of Wangxian meeting online through a cultivation MMORPG and ending up as long-distance husbands. They are incredibly soft with each other, there is no angst at all and especially the image of them falling asleep while on call with each other made my heart melt. Also definitely a story for all fans Bottomji. Excerpt: “I can still att-” “Husband.” And there the word slipped. “I’ve got this.” It worked though. Yiling Laozu was unmoving behind him. And Lan Wangji wanted to just.. take care of him. Wanted to give him healing items. Stronger weapons. Cooler gears. He could maybe give that later? He hadn’t given his husband a betrothal gift after all. The thought suddenly irked him. When the lord was finally defeated, he sent his husband the only thing on his wishlist: a pet donkey. “Husband, this is expensive!” Yiling Laozu exclaimed. Pets were quite expensive, yes. But Hanguang-Jun was rich! He could spoil his husband a bit. He also wanted to show him that he, too, wanted this. Wanted to keep the marriage with him. “For you,” he said. And suddenly a notification came in. A gift in his mail, it seemed. A pet bunny. Gifted by the one and only Yiling Laozu—his husband. He equipped the bunny, letting it nestle on his shoulder. The best part of it all though, was his husband’s laughter.

🔒 To Speak Up
by Vrishchika (@vrishchikawrites)
M, 6k, Wangxian
Summary: To be silent is to be complicit. Kay's comments: I've re-read this story numerous times and it always goes so hard. Vrishchika decided to apply what we know of the novel canon Jiang family dynamics in a modern AU and suddenly, it feels much more icky than it already did in canon. Luckily, Wangxian are already established in this story and Wei Wuxian has the Lans and Wens looking out for him as well. Still, it's heart-breaking how willing he is to bear it. Excerpt: Wen Qing is tempted to push but she doesn't, she can't. She can't bear the thought of this kind boy, her little brother's best friend, dealing with his wounds alone. Because that’s what he’ll do if she shows too much worry. Wei Wuxian is ruthlessly practical and doesn’t like to be vulnerable. If he thinks he’s troubling her, he’ll find someone else to care for his wounds. Someone less competent. His back is littered with scars and Wen Qing wonders at the extent of his nerve damage. She prays there's nerve damage because the alternative is chronic pain from the extensive scarring. She aches to drag him to her hospital and get him examined thoroughly. Wei Wuxian is a strong, athletic man and if she hadn’t seen his scarring up-close, she would’ve never believed he had any. "You will eventually need to address these, Wuxian." She tosses the soiled cloth away and carefully applies an antibiotic ointment on the wounds, "I'm prescribing you painkillers and some antibiotics to help avoid infection. You will take them religiously." Wuxian huffs, "I always take medicine, Qing-jie."

T, 17k, Wei Wuxian
Summary: Wei Wuxian braces himself for what might come next, the story of how this man died by the Yiling Patriarch's hand—at Nightless City, at the Burial Mounds, as the rest of the sects tried to bring that great villain to account. "What was his name?" Uncle Gan sits back, twiddles his thumbs as he thinks. "Well, it'd be Wei something, of course." "Wei Changze, wasn't it?" chimes in a new person, and if anyone agrees or disagrees, Wei Wuxian does not hear them. His wine bowl slips from his grip and the sudden clatter of it barely registers over the unexpected sounds of his father's name. Wei Changze, slipping so careless from a stranger's mouth here in small Taozi, here of all places under the open sky. Wei Changze. - Wei Wuxian meets his grandmother. No, not the immortal one. The other one. Kay's comments: The first comment under this story just read "Oh. Oh. This was heart breaking" and yeah. I couldn't have said it better. Absolutely heart-breaking, devastating and sad, but like in the best way possible. Not a happy story at all, but instead one that leaves you feeling as if your heart has been clawed open. The Untamed canon where Wei Wuxian accidently meets his grandmother, on his father's side of the family, during his post-canon travels, while he pines away for Lan Zhan. Surprise grandma, but he can't bring himself to burden her with the truth of who he is and so simply introduces himself as Mo Xuanyu. Excerpt: "Did your sect know they had a son? He was born here, in this house. Little a'Ying," she adds, effortlessly, thoughtlessly, smiling at him. The name in her mouth is unfamiliar, a warped version of those that have claimed him before. A'Ying is a child's name, the most childish of them, and although of course it's supposed to be his, he doesn't recall ever having been that. He's been a'Xian to shijie, to Uncle Fengmian sometimes, and he is Wei Ying to Lan Zhan now, nothing else. It's not a name he owns, and he does not like the way it lingers in the small space between them: innocent, untroubled, unaware, reaching for him and offering to tie him to this place. It's instinct to look away to avoid it, to busy his hands and his gaze with his teacup, to reach for the final cake. Yet he can't stop his hearing from betraying him, he can't not hear Zhang Rufen as she continues, "They always took him with them when they went wandering, all three of them were very stubborn. I used to tell Chang'er to leave the boy here with us, but neither he nor his wife would hear of it. He would not have been so much to feed, and we were doing better by then, we could have used another pair of hands to help with the orchards as he grew up." There it is again, this possibility, this other life, offered to him with fully unhesitant regard. He tries to avoid it, but it unspools in front of him, so bright and clear, almost tempting: the seasons, the harvest, the river, the cool moist soil settling under his nails and around them, working its indelible way into every groove of his fingers, a different sort of ink. Tending life, instead of rending it. A good life. Maybe it would have suited a'Ying, whoever that boy would have become.

Summary: The guy’s car is that sort of vehicle that can fit few people but a lot of life garbage if you’re running away. He’s been shuttling between his house and the car for so long Wei Ying’s tea has gone cold and irrelevant. Everything seems insignificant now that Wei Ying has a human neighbour. And the guy just absolutely had to buy the house right next to Wei Ying's. Kay's comments: Ah, this story was so soft in its sadness. Really hard to describe what it made me feel, but I'm feeling a lot of it. Just. The feeling of isolation of Wei Ying living all alone with only his cat named Donkey until one day, Lan Zhan moves into the house across from his and despite how Wei Ying has isolated himself, he just can't help himself and pester Lan Zhan and look out for him. Both of them a broken in their own ways, but their broken pieces fit together perfectly. Excerpt: "I need to go to a pharmacy to get some first aid supplies," Lan Zhan says. "I forgot the bird seeds," Wei Ying beams at him, seeing through Lan Zhan’s adorably crude lies. "You go there and I'll go back." "You go first. I will wait here." "Nononono, we'll both go. Take the keys." The look on Lan Zhan's face when he comes back to the car with lube and Wei Ying is holding two rabbits in a little box is worth every single day Wei Ying has spent alone in a dilapidated house on the edge of the world and his sanity. "Wei Ying." "First aid supplies." They go home.

Summary: Wen Qing died. This, she knows; from the painful lick of flames to the unavoidable choking that came with the smoke to the wickedly satisfied grin on Jin Guangshan’s face before she closed her eyes the last time. She hoped, those last few moments, that it would be the end. Wei Wuxian would be free, and the last remnants of their family would be safe. She hoped that Wen Ning wouldn’t feel any pain, when the time came for him to follow her. - Or, the one where Wen Qing ends up in the past and fixes the future. Kay's comments: I love stories where Wen Qing time-travels, because she's one of the few characters I love to see time-travelling! And she makes good use of her second chance as well, making sure her two younger brothers live their best lifes. I really love Wen Qing's characterization in this story and loved how the canon divergence played out. Excerpt: She jerks awake to the feeling of a solid wooden chair under her, to the stuttering of a candle. For a second, she thinks that this must still be Koi Tower, that Jin Guangshan has lied yet again. But— —the desk under her folded arms is familiar lacquered wood, as familiar as the white and red robes she’s wearing and the scattered scrolls and books she’d been sleeping on. Her office, in Yiling. In Yiling. “Fuck,” she says, and in the same breath pushes herself up, not caring that the chair clatters to the floor, that her robes aren’t in order. If this is—if she isn’t hallucinating all of this with the last sane figments of her dying brain, this is after the burning of Lotus Pier, the fall of Yunmeng-Jiang by just days. And that means Wei Wuxian and Jiang Wanyin, the core transfer—her brother. Wen Ning is alive! He has to be, even if this isn’t real. Wei Wuxian always joked about her having an iron bear trap for a mind and he isn’t really wrong; even if this is a dying hallucination, she’d have Wen Ning alive.

Summary: Devastatingly, by the time Wei Ying finally remembers his own past, it’s far too late to change anything, his home already lost, the Yiling Patriarch long-since pronounced dead, and little A-Yuan having no one to rely on but him. Kay's comments: A very soft and heart-breaking short story in which Wen Qing - when she knocks Wei Wuxian out when she goes to submit herself and Wen Ning for punishment - erases Wei Wuxian's memories. So, after the Wen remnants are dead, it's just him travelling with A-Yuan. Happy, but memory-less, at least for a while. Him and A-Yuan are travelling and they might pick up another stray on the way. Absolutely love the found family vibes. Peak content for fans of: goth girl on the outside, but on the inside? A father figure. Excerpt: It took him a long time to remember fully, for the amnesia – which Wen Qing had somehow made settle over his memory – to entirely lift. There had been barely enough left of his recollection for Wei Ying to at least know himself, to know his own name – even if he quickly learned better than to actually give it – and to somewhat recall once having had a home. Although, the strange mixture of images from – what he only later recognizes as – Lotus Pier and Burial Mounds and even the Cloud Recesses made absolutely no sense to him in the beginning, too strange a combination to make sense of, fine clothing and lotus blossoms as far as the eye could see, the sting of punishment on his back and snow-covered mountains all around, happiness despite having barely anything on the table, too little food to go around and still more contentedness than he had felt anywhere else if only due to the people surrounding him. Names and places and clear faces had entirely escaped him for so long. Those had been the last thing to truly return to him.

Hello. I wanted to share my MDZS Star Trek AU "To Boldly Go." I started writing it in 2021 only to not touch it for three years, so I'm just proud of myself for finally completing it! It's specific to the Star Trek shows TNG, DS9, and VOY, and though it includes a lot of direct references to Star Trek, I think non-Star Trek fans could still understand and enjoy it. It is a crossover and later includes characters from TGCF, but they are not the focus.
There are a lot of foreshadowed elements and characters who haunt the narrative. And hopefully, I captured the essence of Star Trek, too.
Thank you!!

Summary: As one of the top-ranked cadets at Starfleet Academy, Wei Wuxian has a bright future with Starfleet in store for him. His dream is to someday command his own ship with Lan Wangji by his side as his Chief Science Officer. As a double major in both Command and Engineering, his thesis project is quite ambitious: he’s going to prove the theory of Warp 10, and he doesn’t care how improbable or dangerous it may be. He just needs to prove his theory, pass his thesis, graduate from the Academy, and then he’ll finally tell Lan Wangji how he feels. Maybe. Unfortunately, the stars have other plans for him, and his destiny changes. Years later, Lan Wangji encounters a wormhole in deep space. What lies on the other side of it has been his destiny all along.

Part of the Wangxian White Day Exchange 2021
Summary: Even from seclusion, a mother's eyes see much, and her heart understands even more. And she can only sit back and watch for so long. The story of Lan Wangji's devotion, heartbreak, and joy through the eyes of the person who knows him best in the world. Kay's comments: Chanting MAMA LAN, MAMA LAN, MAMA LAN I just love fics so much where she lives and gets so see her sons grow up and especially fics where she gets to meet Wei Wuxian! I just know that the two of them would get along so well! This story is The Untamed canon, so she's witness to all the pining and the mess at the end where Wei Wuxian is left to wander alone, but she's not taking it! Really loved her characterization in this story too. Excerpt: "Hello? Is anyone here?" Curiosity wins, a trait she's never quite been able to stamp out with all her years of solitude and meditation. Not, she supposes, that she's tried particularly hard. She goes to the door and opens it, and finds herself face to face with a teenager in guest disciples' robes, gazing up at her with surprise in his wide grey eyes. "Hello," she says, and the sound of her own voice surprises her in return. It's been so long since she's spoken to anyone but Wangji and Xichen; there's an irrational instant where she half expects Lan Qiren to jump out of the bushes and start shouting accusations at her, just for this one simple greeting. But of course he isn't here — no one is here but herself and the boy. His smile is wide and infectious; she finds herself smiling back without quite knowing why either of them are doing so. “I knew a place like this must have someone living in it! I'm guessing I probably shouldn't be here, huh? I was exploring and I saw the path, and I just had to know, you know?" Belatedly, he seems to remember himself and bows. His form is perfect, but she can tell he's just going through the motions, eager to get back to talking. "I'm Wei Ying, courtesy name Wuxian." Of course. Sheng Lin can't hold back her laughter; it rings through the clearing, loud and bright and unfamiliar to her own ears. "Your reputation precedes you, A-Ying," she says gently, still chuckling.

💙 Contingency Plan
by krispy_kream
M, 8k | 1,5h, Wangxian
Summary: “You’ll still love me when we’re old and ugly, right?” Wei Wuxian asks. “We’ll have each other while everyone else is busy with their kids and their dogs and annoying in-laws.” And Lan Wangji asks, "Why Wait?" Kay's comments: I don't have words, this story was just so incredibly funny and cute and it made me shriek in delight every other line. The absolute peak of idiots-to-lovers, never have I seen the trope written so well! Wangxian truly deserve each other! The way they get married for tax reasons and housing benefits and both just go: but we do this as friends obviously and my feelings will never be returned but that's fine because we're friends :) Just. Perfectionn. Also, the line in the excerpt about living with Wei Ying being like living with a pet is the best line ever period. Also, this story is also available as a podfic!! Excerpt: Living with Wei Ying is a lot like owning a pet. Not that Lan Wangji thinks of him as such, that would be inappropriate, but he demands attention in a similar fashion and Lan Wangji often finds him eating things he shouldn’t, so there are similarities. “I will cook,” Lan Wangji insists when he catches Wei Ying dipping doritos in cup noodles. “What, for both of us? You don’t have to do that—” Wei Ying tries, but Lan Wangji is already ripping open the fridge to keep himself from ripping the cup noodle from Wei Ying’s hand. “I seem to recall a contingency plan that involved me as acting housewife,” Lan Wangji says. “That wasn’t—!” Wei Ying splutters. “I didn’t say housewife.” “Mn,” Lan Wangji agrees with a small twist of amusement. “You used far more words.”
podfic available, podfic length: 1-1.5 hours, pov lan wangji, modern setting, modern no powers, idiots in love, getting together, marriage of convenience, friends to lovers, moving in together, marriage proposal, mutual pining, humor, fluff and humor
