i think that people should start using “in poor taste” as a descriptor again given it is often the most applicable and clearest phrase when discoursing about media and analysis; sometimes a piece of art isn’t actually THE most problematic thing of all time is is. ​just in poor taste (not JUST in poor taste as a reductive take on potential harm but/and as in regardless of intent the impact is this was an offensive or stupid take/choice)

Watcher started their own business and were providing free content, but wanted to move all new content to paid (for 60 dollars a year). This move was reportedly because they want to expand their budget as 50% of their revenue comes from ads. After this announcement was made, there was an overly negative response from the fandom that led to people digging up stuff on CEO Steven (specifically that he belongs to a homophobic church and platformed the priest). However there was also a lot of over-the-top blaming on him for the situation. And also people saying that they should fire their employees to save money??? Watcher apologized and is now moving to do early access content instead and their shows will still be free on YouTube.

I dunno, I think a lot of this is ppl having a parasocial relationship with these guys. They’re some guys. You don’t know them, and also like… teslas and weddings are personal expenses that people save up for and also have family to help pay for. Even if teslas are stupid. However the decision was also bad and cut off most of their fanbase. The solution is a good idea, but ultimately it’s up to individual people whether or not they want to keep watching.

Ever since The Owl House finale I wanted to update this little scene animation and I finally found the time too! The animation itself is super simple but I still love how cute it is! Brief description recommended and taken directly from anistarrose: A short looping animation of the Collector and King sleeping on the couch of the Owl House, looking peaceful and breathing slowly. The Collector is holding François with them under their blanket, and King is curled up around a doll of the Collector. Balls of golden light float all around them.
