Hey guys, I haven’t been super active lately, I know. I sat down and made a decision today, and that’s that I have far too many side blogs and I’m not going to be able to keep up with them all. 

So, I’m putting all my writing in one place. 

This will include various Star Wars stories I have up running, Marvel stuff, Endeavour, maybe some OC stuff - and, since it’s me, there’s going to be whump! 

Come check me out over @words-with-wren. I spent all day today organizing it and sorting out my stories on there, and there’ll be stuff over there that I’ve not posted on this blog before. 

I may keep this blog up and running for reblogging stuff and interacting with other people’s writing, but all my writing will be posted on that blog.

Hey whats up y’all I’ve been absent lately cos a) busy busy time over here and b) I’ve been hyper fixating on star wars for the past like two months. (if anyone has any good good Obi-Wan, specifically clone wars era, whump fics pls yeet ‘em my way!)

Anyway I rewatched the OT over this last week and there’s a surprising amount of whump, especially in Empire and Jedi. Like.... Luke getting attacked by the wampa, hung upsidown by his feet, stumbling through a blizzard and collapsing. When Lando brings him into the Falcon after he escapes Vader at the end of the movie and he’s weak and shaking and just lost his hand and has a blanket thrown over him and mmm love that. Not to mention Han being frozen in carbonate (Han talking Chewie down hits me in all my soft spots ugh I love it), plus the whole “they didn’t even ask me any questions” after he got tortured to lure Luke to cloud city. 

And then in Jedi, Han coming out of carbonate is fantastic. He just collapses, and is all shaky and weak and blind, and has to lean on Leia and his voice is shaking. And his and Chewie’s reunion is great. And then we got the whole Luke getting electrified at the end and man I enjoyed that far too much. 

Anyway, I enjoyed my rewatch! Now I gotta like... write something or read stuff huh? Either OT or Prequals/clone wars era. (I am clone wars trash)

In a dungeon somewhere, a Stoic Whumpee is strung up by the Whumper. Wrists shackled as far apart as they can go, leaving their bare, bloody chest exposed and vulnerable.

Whumper is about to start the next round of torture when they order the henchmen to bring in Caretaker, in hopes of humiliating Whumpee. When Caretaker sees their protector they immediately break into tears.

Just as Whumper is about to begin, neither of them expect the Caretaker to break free, dart towards the Whumpee, and lock their arms around them. With their head buried against their chest, they sob, “Don’t hurt them, please! I need them. I’ll do whatever you want, just let them go!”

Whumpee freezes as a wave of unspoken emotions rushes through them. How they’ve missed Caretaker, worried about them since their capture. They tense their fists in the metal restraints as they wish above all else, to wrap their friend in a protective embrace.

Alas, they can only relieve the pain with an exhale, as they loosen their body and bow their head to rest on Caretaker’s. With a reassuring smile they whisper, “Protecting is my job, remember? Don’t worry about me. Take care of yourself. I’m gonna be okay, I promise.” Whumpee places a kiss on top Caretaker’s head.

And as quickly as they were dragged in, they were dragged out again. Kicking and screaming for the Whumpee.

i love characters who could get the absolute Shit kicked out of them and still be fine but as soon as someone touches/handles them gently it’s like “ah. im going to shatter to pieces now thanks”

I don’t talk about betrayal enough and how much I love that trope.

The whumpee is betrayed because their friend/family/SO etc. is coerced into it to save them from farther pain in the future

The whumpee is betrayed because their friend feels like they have no other choice: Maybe the whumpee was going down a bad path and their friend felt that they had to be the one to stop it

True betrayal: they were never the whumpee’s friend in the first place. It was all a trick from the beginning

The fake betrayalto complete a mission, and it kills them inside but it’s necessary

A betrayal that happens in a moment of anger or fear, one that they later regret with

And even better... what if it is the whumpee who betrayed the whumper long ago? Some excellent motivation for revenge

And betrayal can be felt differently depending on who it is: Is it an so? A friend that the whumpee finally opened up to? A family member? A teammate?

This trope can just go so many different ways and the angst and pain potential is just so *clenches fist* amazing.

A step back whenever someone gets too close.  A twitch when they lean in.  A duck of the head when voices raise.

Fingers trembling when they shout.  A tremor that goes unnoticed until it doesn’t.  Shaking hands clenching into shaking fists.

A back to the wall, always, forever, because corners are safe, because corners mean no surprises.  

An arm’s length of personal space because if they’re close enough to touch, they’re close enough for – for other things.

Fidgeting that gets worse when nervous, when tense, when scared.

Ducking when voices rise too fast, too quickly.  Lurching at a friendly slap on the back.  Jumping at a hand waving in their periphery.

The too fast, too shallow breaths, the wide eyes, the racing heart, as it becomes too much, as it all becomes too much.
